Virtua Tennis 2009 is still a great tennis game, and it arrives at the right moment, far enough from the last installment for sports fans to want a little more of Virtua Tennis. The only thing to criticize is the few changes in comparison with the last game.
-
VT has always been a party game, and it pulls that off well enough to excuse the rough edges. If the more technical Top Spin 3 is posh dinner in polite company, this is a pie and a pint with friends - a little boisterous, maybe, but you don't need etiquette to have a good time.
-
Virtua Tennis 2009 plays a better, more compelling game than any other tennis game around, but it is still fundamentally more of the same. Nonetheless, if you're in the market for a new set of balls, then this is certainly a game that you'll love.
-
Virtua Tennis 2009 is, like every other game in the Virtua Tennis-series, a great game. But there are not many news since the last version so if you already got a Virtua Tennis for your current-gen console you can stick with that. But if you haven´t, and love tennis, then this is a must buy.
-
Despite the fact that all the evidence suggests Virtua Tennis is a series stuck in a rut, Virtua Tennis 2009 is still great fun, especially in multiplayer.
-
It's a slight advancement over its predecessor, VT 3, but its biggest weaknesses, the online and single-player modes, mire an otherwise satisfying experience.
-
Simply put: do not buy Virtua Tennis 2009. There is absolutely no reason to buy this over the superior (and cheaper) VT3.
