As a party/arcade mess around game then it's a triumph, as a full retail price indepth sequel with loads of extras then it fails miserably. Same shite game mechanics where getting in position is more to do with fortunate then skill, same dull lay out, and even worse career mode. This game is almost average, so don't waste your money on Sega's cash in attempt.

Virtua Tennis 2009 is still a great tennis game, and it arrives at the right moment, far enough from the last installment for sports fans to want a little more of Virtua Tennis. The only thing to criticize is the few changes in comparison with the last game.
  2. Only the on-line modes and the Davis Cup separate it from the previous games of the series. SEGA must think about where they want to take the saga, because the stagnation can start being dangerous.
  3. VT has always been a party game, and it pulls that off well enough to excuse the rough edges. If the more technical Top Spin 3 is posh dinner in polite company, this is a pie and a pint with friends - a little boisterous, maybe, but you don't need etiquette to have a good time.
