This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While not perfect (there are a lot of plot conveniences at points and the fan service can be a little overbearing at points), Spider-Man: NWH is a ridiculously fun and emotional film that serves as a great individual story for Tom Holland's Peter Parker as well as a love letter to all things Spider-Man. All of the performances are spectacular (specifically Holland, Zendaya, Dafoe, and Molina), but one that stood out to me most was Andrew Garfield, who gives it his all as a less confident and seemingly dejected Spider-Man (hilarious and tragic in a meta context). All the action was really well-executed, the villains are so fun to see again, it does a much better job of balancing comedy and drama than most MCU films, and it was such a special film experience I'm sure to remember and go back to time and time again. No Way Home is everything any real fan of Marvel or Spider-Man could ever have hoped for, and a little more. I won't give away any spoilers, but it's a fantastic movie that's made ten times better if you're a long-time fan who's seen theNo Way Home is everything any real fan of Marvel or Spider-Man could ever have hoped for, and a little more. I won't give away any spoilers, but it's a fantastic movie that's made ten times better if you're a long-time fan who's seen the previous iterations in the franchise. It caters to casual fans but multiplies the dramatic (and comedic) payoffs for older fans and is enough to reduce full-grown adults to puddles of teary-eyed, ear-to-ear grinning satisfaction. All performances are top-notch, and Tom Holland delivers his best performance ever, both as Spider-Man and Peter Parker. All the other cast members are equally superb, and it's obvious that they all knew they were taking part in something extraordinary. Their love for the Spidey Mythos shines through every second of their screentime. In spades.

As for the surprises, well, let's just say...the movie does THAT. While you're getting over the fact that it actually did THAT, it then goes along and does THAT as well. While you're recovering from beautiful and understated fan service (there's nothing wrong with fan service when understated and tastefully done and especially when it's done to serve the story, and not at its expense - a lesson that critics should learn when they're not too busy trying to sound above it all), it then goes along and also does THAT, to devastatingly emotional effect. No Way Home is a master class in entertainment, and a masterclass in dramatic storytelling, and nay-sayers like Scott, Cameron, and Scorcese need to wake up and pull their heads out of their collective butts because there's nothing to say you can't be fun, funny, and unyielding in gravitas all within the same movie. If you could distill all your love for Spider-Man into a movie, this would be the result. This is the Peter Parker we've all grown up with, and he's spectacular, and he's still just a young man who's trying his hardest to do the right thing. This is the Spider-Man who never quits. This is the Spider-Man who, despite all odds, could grow into the hero who beat FireLord while the Avengers were gone, and could survive Kraven's Last Hunt. This is the Spider-Man that turns adults to Jello-O while they remember holding a flashlight under the sheets after their parents had sent them to bed on a school night. Incredibly enough for a two and a half hour movie, not a single scene drags. It's tempered to perfection. The action scenes are fast but never confusing, and the dramatic scenes are heavy without feeling slow. It trusts the audience with its dramatic beats and doesn't resort to melodrama.

The only slightly weak point is some undercooked CGI. Then again, Marvel Studios always seems to produce better CGI than the Sony Pictures installments. But that's a minor complaint in a movie that works so hard to be the absolute best it can be.

I've already seen it twice, and it was an even more emotional experience the second time around.

Avoid spoilers! You'll just be ruining a stellar experience for yourself.

There are problems with motivating villains, but they pale in comparison to the rest of the positives.

It hits home with the nostalgic college feels and the fights.

I was thinking the MCU died without the Avengers, but low and behold this gem.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. No Way Home is a brilliant celebration of three eras of Spiderman, each beloved in their own right, coming together in a perfect Spider-bonanza that will live rent free in my heart forever. The film is driven by the character’s core principle, the sacrifice and responsibility that comes with the powers, the “with great power comes great responsibility” line we’re all so used to.

Maybe the worst kept secret in modern cinema delivers some fantastic scenes that are both fun, and deeply emotional, exploring the weight of what the responsibilities of Spiderman really mean, and how that changes the man under the mask. As much as it develops the MCU’s concept of the character, it adds depth, and offers some resolution to the other universes that came before it.

Fanservice is peppered shamelessly throughout, to no real detriment in my mind. It’s precisely what people wanted from this film, to which it delivers in spades. From cameo
appearances to references to old films, and memes (Norman Osborn being “something of a scientist” himself and a certain Spiderman’s infamous back problems) the film embraces a lot of the community driven content that has arisen around these films over the years. The use of the Danny Elfman theme strikes a particular chord for me, having grown up with those films. Yes, the film plays on nostalgia, but it feels earned, particularly after all these years, and all this hype. It embraces the history of the character on the silver screen, with each era being given its own chance to shine.

The only downside is the film’s reliance on the audience's familiarity with the characters and backstories for each individual universe. Less of an issue for hardcore fans, to whom the movie is clearly heavily catered, but I can see it making the film a bit of a headscratch for those coming in blind, or who have only watched the MCU films.

Overall it definitely left me feeling satisfied. Spiderman within the MCU moves on to a more grounded path, as the friendly neighbourhood Spiderman after his more crazy adventures over the past few films. Garfield and Maguire’s heroes receive a good sendoff, as do the villains from their universes. If this is to be their last hoorah, then honestly, I’m satisfied. If Marvel do down the road want to reprise these characters in standalone films, or toy with the idea of a Spiderverse, then it would be really great to see them in action again. That said to see them suit up at all was already something I never thought we’d see, least of all in a single movie.

Whatever happens, No Way Home was a great film, and one of my favourite MCU films hands down. 9/10 no debate.

The movie starts off a little slow, but it seems necessary to introduce all of the vallains featured in the film. The acting in the movie is overall pretty good, with some really great moments carried out by some of the better actors. The classic Marvel humour works well, and you can't help but chuckle at least a few times throughout the movie. The movie ends up being a good finale to the MCU spiderman trilogy, while adding a little extra to the past characters it features. Overall a satisfying story which is entertaining to watch and gives us more of what we love about all spiderman movies. Expand

It's true to some extent that as a person who likes artistic movies, I don't want to give a high score, but as a movie buff, I have to give the "Our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" who has been with us since the beginning of the 21st century. The movie was a praise for him, praise for him was sufficient and perfect. It was even like a love letter which is written with long contemplating from a fresh lover. I didn't like the story or hero's narrative much, but I can definitely understand that Spider-Man was completely absorbed by the MCU. Also, while watching IMAX, my eyes and ears had a very happy experience in a few months.

Thank you. I will be able to spend the end of this year with happy movies. Let's do well next year.

Putting 3 generations of Spider-Men into one movie, regardless of which one you like the most was icing on the cake !

The movie is very emotional, sometimes you yell with delight, sometimes you want to cry. It's a pity that the trailers told us everything before the release, if not for that, all emotions would be tripled. Still, it is one of the best superheroes movie I've ever seen, and I thank Marvel for making it. Expand

MCU lovers would celebrate it

Crazy MARVEL FANATIC followers would enjoy it, celebrate it, embrace it, cherish it, cry on it... They would go nuts and their brain would take time to process what's just happened, & what's about to happen in The Marvel Cinematic Multiverse.

In my mind and heart, Sony's &

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Even though everyone seems to absolutely love the earlier Spider-man movies with Maguire and Garfield for me each one of them was a pain to watch through. On the contrast I have absolutely loved every appearance of Tom Holland as a Spider-man because it has been such a different take to this character that has been done so many times. So I had strong doubts about if I could enjoy a movie that based on the trailers gathered all the villains from previous movies.

I was positively surprised. All the characters from the previous Spider-man movie iterations that I had trouble looking at in their original movies were actually enjoyable in this context. The story was easy to follow for me and I found myself enjoying pretty much the whole movie. Action scenes were at times just a big blur with so much happening but they were enjoyable.

Next to the spoilery stuff so if you accidentally expanded this turn back now.

I understand that for many Tom Holland Spider-man is just "Iron Man Jr." and it cheapens the character but personally that is what I love about the MCU iteration. So to me personally the ending was a slight disappointment because it takes the character to a direction I don't personally enjoy with setting and visual design. I hope there are more movies with MCU Spider-man in the future and he can get back some of the things that were lost in the ending of this one.

Mid-credits scene had me scared if the character would come to MCU because it has been an absolute pain to watch them in their own movies but luckily that character was handled perfectly.

But yeah, all in all I enjoyed the movie very much and I'm really looking forward see more any kind of Spider-man content in the future. Slight minuses for hard readability and taking the story to a direction I don't prefer.

The acting especially from Tom Holland as he really is Spider-Man is amazing. This is easily Tom Holland’s best acting performance out fo any Spider-Man movie he has been in. The acting from Jamie Fox, Willem Defoe and even Alfred Molina is like they never left the role as they are just so good in the movie. The plot is very awesome and Tobey and Andrew return in the movie, so what else can I say? Also Aunt May dies in this movie so the movie is highly entertaining and emotional. Also, the ending in this movie is one of my favorites out of any Spider-Man movie and this is easily the best Spider-Man movie. Expand

1) Great fan service
2) A bit of drama and tragedy

You’ll be very confused if you don’t remember or haven’t seen those past Spider-Man movies. With that said, that’s all that’s special about No Way Home is the fan fare. The plot is a good idea, but not played out right. Character setup without any spoilers is done poorly. The action is way too goofy and over the top. The dialogue is for the most part bad. There were a few funny jokes, but nothing great. Overall just another mediocre Marvel film. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is something so epic, so exciting, so cool. It's such an ambitious and risky film project. It's something never seen before, and that makes it something special and unique. To have all three Spider-Men from all the franchises and with their respective villains together is glorious. Nothing more to say. Thank you Sony and Marvel. Expand

I had a blast watching this film in a packed theater with crowd cheerfully reacting to big moments. Comedy was done extremely wellI had a blast watching this film in a packed theater with crowd cheerfully reacting to big moments. It doesn’t disappoint in fan service department and what’s great that it serves a purpose in terms of story. Comedy was done extremely well for the most part (except for some jokes here and there that didn’t land at all) but I felt that during the second half of the film there were too many jokes that conflicted with high stakes situation that characters were facing. In addition, certain moments seemed like an antidote to critical thinking. Some of the issues could have been resolved without that much trouble and ultimately the ending feels like a bit of a letdown for that same reason. Although far from perfect, Spider-Man No way home is a must-see for all long time spidey fans. Expand

The short review: Teens and fans would absolutely love this film! However, I think it is merely good and also rather frustrating.

Related media: I have seen all of the MCU films apart from Eternals, which I’ll watch on TV instead. Shang-Chi was great in the first half and only OK in the final quarter.

What's it like? With Peter Parker’s alter ego exposed in the previous film, he goes to ask Dr Strange to cast a spell for the world to forget he’s Spider-man, only to ask for more and more exceptions mid-spell-casting, thus screwing up the spell. A frustrated Dr Strange attempted to fix this spell only for Peter to interfere again, thus creating an even bigger mess. Mid- or post-credit scenes: One mid- and one almost trailer-length post-credit scene.

Positive: 1) With villains of other Spider-verses coming into this universe - it’s in the trailers - I had expected the obvious things to happen, but it wasn’t that straightforward, so kudos to the writers.

2) There are some very funny jokes between characters of different Spider-versus, some of which are real-life jokes about the actors themselves.

Negatives:

1) In the first MCU Spider-man film, Peter Parker messed up while trying to catch the villains, thus leading to a ferry being split in half. In the second film, he messed up by giving the special glasses to the villain, thus leading to the destruction in London. In this third film, he messed up again. This trope/storyline is just far too repetitive, as if there would be no other plotline that does not involve Peter messing up. I understand that Peter is a kid growing up, but is any kid going to mess up in three big ways in their teens?

2) Teens and fans would absolutely love this film, because of the appearance of the characters from other Spider-verses, but the directing of a few of these critical characters was poor, thus leading over-emotional and slow performances. Some 15 min could be chopped off from this film.

3) The final battle was very confusing because there were too many characters and director did not do a good job.

4) The mess created by Peter Parker was not satisfactorily resolved and leaves much to be desired, but I do not think this would form any part of the sequels to this – yes there will be more MCU Spider-man films!

How would the different age groups rate this:

Children: (not rated for children).

Teens: Excellent.

Young adults: Excellent.

Medium-age adults: Good. Old adults: Average. This may just be too confusing/frustrating for them.

My rating: 4/5 (no half scores). Worth it to watch it in the cinema.
