Yes, the film was very severely circumcised and some actions of the characters were incomprehensible, but after the release of the ultimate edition everything fell into place and I just fell in love with this film. I can not forget the film, I absolutely think about it every day. The director's version answered all the questions, patched all the plot holes and laziness, the motives of the characters are clear. The plot of the film is very deep and interesting, but it's difficult to understand from the first time, but if you review and reflect, you can understand that the plot is genius, which has a very powerful social message, a hidden, deep meaning and a lot of allergies on the biblical themes.A great game of actors, and everyone perfectly wins their roles (especially Ben Affleck and Jazy Eisenberg), the music is amazing (thanks to Hans Zimmer and Janki Xl), Visual and camerawork are godlike.
Result: Batman vs. Superman (ultimate edition) The finest film, an absolute masterpiece and the most under-criticized film that critics took and for no reason were brutally mixed with filth.

It carries over a lot of interesting ideas from Man of Steel and expands upon them in ways that address many of that film's criticisms, but almost everything going on here is messy. It suffers from dodgy character motivations, questionable casting choices, and a lackluster climax. The movie has a bit of an identity crisis. The core concept doesn't really even make up much of the overlong runtime. It feels like three movies smashed into one, which is never good. There's strong stuff in here, sometimes very strong, but at the end of the day, it's a disappointingly mediocre affair. Expand

Theatrical cut has a rather confusing plot nothing seems to tie in with the story. Though the Ultimate Edition is able to fix some of these issues with the extra 30 minutes. I suggest watching the UE instead of the theatrical one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Being a mega-fan of Batman, a big fan of Superman, and a big fan of DC Comics in general, I went into this movie really excited. I'd been waiting for this movie for three years when I watched it. After watching it, I was satisfied. I'd been a little disappointed at the plot, but overall, it was a satisfying experience. Does it deserve all the hate it's getting? No. Are people who watched the movies just fanboys and brand loyalists if they tell you that you probably didn't understand the "Martha" scene if you didn't like it? Well, probably not actually. If you really think that Batman and Superman stopped fighting because their mothers have the same name, you're mistaken, but that's an argument for another day. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is a pretty enjoyable movie, especially for fans of the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel, however, the movie has a few significant flaws. One of the biggest is Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. I liked the character and Eisenberg's performance, but the problem is...the character is supposed to be Lex Luthor. Really, he feels more like a blend of the Joker and the Riddler. Other than his genius-level intellect, his name, and getting his head shaved at the end, he bears no similarity to Lex Luthor whatsoever. Moreover, I thought the actual titular "Batman v Superman" fight was a bit short. It was only eight minutes long (possibly a reference to the source material, "The Dark Knight Returns"), and a lot of it was spent talking or just standing. There wasn't really enough actual fighting. I thought that the character of Wonder Woman wasn't given enough meaning to the plot and this movie spent too much time adapting panels from the comics to please comic book readers. Other than that, the editing was all over the place. Some things didn't make sense, and when the Ultimate Edition was released and I watched it, I was truly baffled as to why key plot points were completely taken out of the film as opposed to other scenes. Now, the film uses its time very well, but the problem is that it doesn't have ENOUGH time. Rather than use several films to build up an epic battle between the two greatest, most iconic heroes of all time, Zack Snyder makes an attempt to stuff a great deal of content in a 2.5 hour film. It feels really rushed and at times, even pointless. However, with great performances from Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, the introduction of the most iconic female character in comic books into cinema, stellar fight sequences, and the teasing of the coming of Darkseid and his Apokoliptian army, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is a pretty solid film, though a bit lackluster at times. This is, however, not deserving of a critic score of 44 on Metacritic and a Tomatometer rating of 27% on Rotten Tomatoes. Not at all. This isn't a bad movie at all. It's pretty solid, albeit disappointing at times. Expand

Very good movie and the ultimate edition is much better.
Batman is the better of the movie, Wonder Woman is amazing and Superman is so humble, the history is so good, I wait for JL, other film that will cover my expectatives.

That blew my mind! "What's the difference?" How can you say that? One job forever? That's an insane choice to have to make. I'm relieved. Now we only have to make one decision in life. But, Adam, how could they never have told us that? Why would you question anything? We're bees. We're the most perfectly functioning society on Earth. Wait a second. Oheck it out. - Hey, those are Pollen Jocks! - Wow. I've never seen them this close. They know what it's like outside the hive. Yeah, but some don't come back. - Hey, Jocks! - Hi, Jocks! You guys did great! You're monsters! You're sky freaks! I love it! I love it! - I wonder where they were.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At first I thought that Man of Steel would be the weakest of the DCEU and was excited for BvS. Then the movie came out. An incoherent mess with terrible characterization, godawful cgi during the final battle, and one of the worst portrayals of a villain. Jessie Eisenberg's Luther is closer to Jim Carrey's riddler than Lex Luthor. Batman straight up kills people, which makes me ask how any of his villains are still alive. Superman mopes the entire movie, and the fight everyone waited for ended after five minutes because Superman said "Martha." All in all, this would have been the worst superhero movie of 2016 had suicide squad not been released. Zack Snyder needs to be fired before he ruins the rest of the DCEU. Expand

He just throws in a lot from comics he liked that don't fit together that well. Then adds strange dream sequences instead of all the flashbacks Man of Steel had.
On top of it he added more darkness and now has Batman kill after complaints of Superman killing in Man of Steel. So Snyder alone is why reviews are so bad and why Justice League will probably get even worse reviews.
Jesse Eisenberg is casting against type that definitely didn't work. He seems to be channeling goofy Batman villains of Schumacher movies over playing Lex.
Ben Affleck as I expected wasn't the problem. Bad pacing and an uneven plot was the problem. The movie tried to do too much at once. Be based on Dark Knight Returns, Death of Superman and while even feel like Zack Snyder was making Watchmen 2. Since Batman and Superman not going by their no kill codes makes them feel like the flawed heroes of Watchmen.

Theatrical Review Only
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Definitely one of the more controversial films released over the past few years, it almost seems like BvS was a victim of its own hype. Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons, Gal Gadot were great castings for their specific roles. Jesse Eisenberg gets alot of crap but I compare him very favorably to Zemo (a villain I actually enjoyed greatly) in Captain America: Civil War though his motivations aren't as clear cut as Zemo's were. Superman was barely in this movie and whenever Amy Adam's Louis Lane is on screen, her character in the theatrical cut is useless and idiotic by the way which isn't helped by Adam's almost completely phoned in performance. When it comes to Louis, my issues with her almost go back to Man of Steel. I really feel like she was completely miscast and that an actress who could actually take the role and run with it, like Jessica Chastain preferably would have been much better than what were getting now from Amy Adam's. But back to the film, it almost felt like this movie suffered from an identity crisis and forgot whether it wanted to be a Batman movie, a Superman movie or a Justice League Prequel. That being said, the story is convoluted with issues that go from wasteful story arcs, very unfleshed out scenes that cause an uncohesive story that has so much going on that it's hard to keep the audience's attention focused on the premise at hand. Overall, the theatrical cut wasn't awful by any means. Ben Affleck brings it as Batman and Gal Gadot was elegant as Wonder Woman and It's certainly not the worst movie ever made nor does it deserve the comparisons to Fan4Tastic it was receiving on release. While I'm settling on a 6/10 for the theatrical cut, I did find the EC to be more in line for a 7-7.5/10 as it fixes alot of the issues and offers a more cohesive storyline than that of the cut that was shown in theaters.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is a total mess of a film. It tries too hard to include as many things and characters and story arcs as possible in one movie. In fact, it's too much, and the end result is too bad.

You got Batman and Superman fighting each other because they have been set up by Lex Luthor to do so, but the first 120 minutes of the movie's 150 are spent in boring speeches, court hearings, insignificant sub-plots and our heroes enjoying themselves in numerous galas. Oh, in the end we have Lex Luthor combining his blood and General Zod's dead body inside the alien spaceship from Man of Steel in order to create Doomsday, completely ravaging the villain's origin as established in the DC comics.

Henry Cavill is decent enough to portray Superman but Ben Affleck doesn't make a great Batman, while Jesse Eisenberg reduces Lex Luthor to a neurotic 30-year-old-spoilt-kid with tons of money who thinks he can do whatever he wants. On the other hand Gal Gadot seriously impresses as Wonder Woman in her relatively short appearance.

All in all Batman v Superman is a bad movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to like it, but there wasn't much for me to like. (or maybe there was too much for me to dislike)

Overall an okay film. Way too easy to nitpick and I wasn't looking forward to it to begin with so I may come off a bit jaded but here you go.
It was far too dark (both visually and thematically) for my taste. I mean seriously, Are both Metropolis and Gotham cursed with an eternal overcast? If that's the case how the hell does Superman stay powered?
WAY too long of a film. I got bored a few times and found myself losing interest in the narrative on occasion. Some of the plot points made absolutely no sense for the players involved but how often does a Superhero movie make sense? I think the editor fell asleep a few times. Plus the ending felt like The Return of the King ending all over again. It could have ended about 12 times and had been much much better.

I give it a 6 of 10. Not bad but not great either. Wont be buying it. Hope Justice League is better.

Below are a few bits that annoyed me the most:

- Lex is annoying. Seriously, this is not the Lex Luthor that would be a foil for Superman, this is something else...not sure what.
- Batman is an **** And also very gullible for a master detective. I mean seriously, the dude has some serious mental health issues that makes him not see the obvious.
- Superman is,,,well the same MoS Supes we saw in the first film. Not much going on there for a 'sequel' film.
- Wonder Woman is amazing. Certainly the highlight of the film. I wish she had had more screen time and look forward to seeing more of her.
- Doomsday is...ugh...three words. What. A. Waste.
- Lois Lane is useless...again a total waste. No character development from the first film at all. Just someone to save and cry over her loss.
- The Justice League Cameos. Again, pointless. Could have been saved for an end credits bit and would have been much more impactful.
- and seriously? Martha? ugh

From there we have a long and somewhat tiring plot, only to arrive at the central climax of the plot. The movie is not bad. Some minutes were removed, the film is very robust for little plot and the villain is not scary, scary or anything of the genre. In visual and technical terms the film is very good the cgi is well used the cuts are very good, often imperceptible , The photograph focuses well on the facial espressoes and the action scenes are well developed, but the plot should be better, it could not, SHOULD be better at several moments it is the focus of the main focus of the henredo which is very massante, the dire Ben Affleck's Batman, an embittered batman and even traumatized by the losses of his parents, is arrogant, intelligent and this time much more violent, even killing bandits. , Which in my opinion is very good all that a bruce wayne needs to have, Henry Cavill as clark kent / superman is very good also he unmasks very well the internal doubts of the character and his kindness assuma of all things, Amy Adams as Lois lane is ok, Jesse Eisenberg plays lex luthor which is not very good, he even tries to integrate a decent character but this does not happen as well as planned but his motivations are not at all plausible, highlight Jeremy Irons Like alfred, he manages to integrate a remarkable character and similar to that of hq what for the min is very good. In general it is an ok movie with a lot of errors in the script, some disposable characters, and an elusively long plot for little content, but with A good production, good character (highlight for the uniforms that are very good), and a villain half-mouth, note 64 Expand

Jeremy Irons feels more like Alfred than Caine ever did (with a more doubting and cautious personality than Michael Caine's happy-go-lucky cockney portrayal). I also enjoyed Ben Affleck's Batman; feeling much more like the muscled hidden-in-plain-sight playboy billionnaire of the graphic novels. And yet, the movie still failed because of an awful script, all the create the contrivance that is why Batman would fight Superman. Logically this makes no sense whatsoever, and for this to work it needed a much more nuanced plot than we ended up getting. Batman disliking him because his attempts to save the world as well as his presence ended up killing innocent lives isn't good enough, not on its own. The worst thing is it could have acted as an exploration of Batman's character. This would make sense if it was actually Batman running away from the fact his own actions cause exactly the same problems... His own existence causes other psychopaths to murder and steal in Gotham city. Batman v Superman should have been about the fact he was actually fighting the things he was running away from in himself, projecting them onto Superman.

Marvel's Universe was just as guilty in their Civil War film. Superheroes fighting each other makes no sense, not unless the fight is ideological (which usually stems from whether it is acceptable to kill or not), but neither Universe wants to taint their biggest franchises. To me, the difference is at least Civil War provided an enjoyable movie that kept my suspension of disbelief well enough to not detract from the experience. The same, sadly, can't be said for Batman V Superman.

There are two ways to criticize this movie. 1. Compare it with Disney's Marvel and complaint that this movie lacks the colors, quips and fun tone of the MCU. 2. Actually review the movie by itself and the universe its set in.

I am going to go with number 2 way of reviewing it since all the "critics" from clickbait article websites chose to review this movie using method 1. Batman v Superman couldve been a perfect sequel to a perfect Superman movie(Man of Steel). It still is except for few minor imperfections and crazy casting of Jesse Eisenberg and Gal Gadot. Likes:

* Casting: Ben Affleck as Batman and that warehouse fight scene.
* Best Batman ever and those who say Nolan's Batman, just pick a Batman comic fromm your nearest comicbook store
* Superman's unconventional but true to comics portrayal
* Philosophical take on Superheroes
* Hans Zimmers score (I personally believe he shouldve won oscars for this movie)
* Atmosphere of the movie.
* Cinematography
* Zacks understanding of both Batman and Superman characters and the mythos. ( Pseudo fans might disagree just because they read a couple of Batman comics or read somewhere that Batman doesnt kill or Superman doesnt brood. He explores these characters very well and portrayed it fantastically in the movie).
* Lex Luthor's perspective on Superman.
* Every scene is shot like a beautiful painting by itself.
* The opening and ending scenes.
* Importance of human characters and their perspective on Superman.

Dislikes:

* Jesse as Lex Luthor.
* 3rd act seemed rushed. The titular fight scene shouldve taken place during the second act.
* Doomsday couldve looked better.
* Cameos of Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg couldve been avoided.
* Wonder Woman casting.

These are some of my genuine opinions on this movie. I do not understand how this movie is called mysogynistic or panned for having too much masculinity, too much destruction count as reviews by "professional critics". This is a serious movie and when people blame Zack for riding on the success of Nolan's The Dark Knight, guess what Nolan literally pitched the realistic, emotional Superman (Man of Steel movie) to Zack Snyder. Nolan trusted Zack Snyder would be the only director to translate the true mythos of DC universe to screen after watching Watchmen and 300.

A Batman/SupermanIf you enjoy the idea of a sociopathic hobo that stole Batman's gadgets and costume and becomes a literal murderer as much as Zack Snyder's definition of "Superman" from "Man of Steel", than THIS is the movie for YOU! A Batman/Superman battle that takes place for about 10-15 minutes towards the end of a 2.5 hour run-time, this film was absolute garbage. To be fair though, Zack Snyder is critically acclaimed for his other amazing outings, like "Sucker Punch"...I mean, wait... nevermind. This film franchise looks to be a complete mess and a waste of studio money that seems like it was literally written by a hundred psychotic monkeys typing on typewriters (when in fact, it was influenced by hack-writer Frank Miller...). I would rather have paid the cost of a ticket to see the actors/actresses of this film play celebrity poker with each other than to see them work on this film. They were all better than this. Such a disappointment. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very disappointing story. It made Batman/Bruce Wayne out to be a brainless individual. In the comics he was never stupid like this potrayal.
Too dark and serious with extremely limited humour (which these type of films need)
I think they realised because Suicide Squad was much better.
Hoping the lesson is also learned for the Wonder Woman and Justice League movies.
My brother is a huge Batman fan (above all other heroes)and he was immensely disappointed that the Batman character was such a **** in this film.

Somehow he managed to take DC's two most popular superheros and screw them over. I never had hope in Zack Snyder, as he never was able to create a decent film (at most). Warner Brothers biggest flaw was allowing such a mediocre person direct a film. Batman v Superman wasn't too complicated however it was all over the place, I never truely knew what the story was trying to push. However the action and video effects were good and enjoyable. I loved watching Batman and Superman battle out (unfortunately for only 10 minutes). The film took too many weird turns and alot of times it felt more alike as the film was more of a chore to watch then it is an a source of entertainment. Its not terrible by all means, however I expected alot more, I was very disappointed and I dont think DC is focusing on making there films entertaining and memorable as they used to, instead making films is only a way to make quick money.

Overall Batman V Superman has its flaws, however its not a terrible film, saying that as well its not a good film at all. There are too many plot holes and concepts that dont make sense at all that im very disappointed in the turn DC took and hopefully in the future can find better ways to create blockbuster films without ruining an entire franchise *Maybe fire Zack Snyder and get a good director?*

The whole negativity surrounding the movie makes you feel like the critics want to have full control over movies these days. Critics and some people were prepared to hate on the movie way before the movie was released. Please tell me how that is fair? You should be open minded towards a movie, if you simply can't do it then please don't review movies, but then yet no one was hating on Civil War before it came out, which proves Marvel is so damn overrated. I am not saying they are bad movies, but critics hated things in BVS that they praised in Civil War...wow so bias..great. But nonetheless this movie is simply so good, it gets more better after each watching. My final verdict is that the movie was really entertaining and saved us a proper comic book Batman which I am a big fan off. Snyder tried to do something special with man of steel and Batman V Superman and it definitely paid off, albeit perhaps not with some general audiences. I feel these two films will be classed as classics in years to come, once people have gotten used to more than only one flavour of super hero films.

If you're a DC fan, there is a hell of alot of fan service to get from this film with a blend of many famous comic story arcs from dark Knight returns to D.O.S to the first few issues of the new 52 justice league.

To briefly explain some of the more complex plot points without spoiling: Batman's motivation is that Superman, who is an unknown entity with unknown motivations poses an extreme threat if hostile.
The feeling of helplessness that Batman faces in the face of the potential threat of Superman forces him to do whatever it takes, become whoever he needs to be to confront Superman and if need be, destroy him. In the process Batman becomes cruel and loses himself part of himself in hunting Superman. It's more complex than that but without spoiling anything major I can't elaborate further.

If you're not used to DC as I was not a few years ago, then I strongly suggest you watch man of steel before watch BvS. It makes a big difference.

Final word: marvel films are good popcorn fun films. DC films, in my opinion are the thinking man's comic book film. This is absolutely fantastic

It's not perfect by any means - Lex Luthor is badly miscast, to give one example - but Wonder Woman is a revelation, and The Batman is quite simply the meanest and best incarnation of the character ever put on the screen (and I say that as a huge fan of the Chris Nolan trilogy). Yes, it could have benefited from a little less of the relentless darkness, occasionally, but hey, give them a break! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. DISCLAIMER: My review is on the Ultimate Edition of BvS, not the theatrical version.

BvS is one of the most controversial underrated superhero movies out there. The worst injustice done to BvS is the fact that so many people decided not to go see it just because of negative reviews online. A message to said people: Hike up your skirt and go see it, and don't just listen to what other people say. You have to go and see it yourself, then form your own opinion on it. That's how it works. Don't just go by what some critics say, because they are neither right nor wrong. So anyway, about the actual movie. Before I do an actual analysis, let me just summarize by saying I would give the theatrical cut of BvS a 6/10, and I would give the Ultimate Edition of it a solid 8/10, hence my rating for this review. Let's do a pros/cons analysis for this movie, just because I feel like it:

PROS
- Visually speaking, BvS is the best damn superhero movie in existence. Kicks Marvel's ass. End of discussion. What else is to expect from Zack Snyder?
- Ben Affleck is hands down the most amazing live-action Batman we have ever gotten, and probably ever will get. Everything about him is spot-on and amazing: The Batsuit, the Armored Batsuit, Alfred (a class all on his own), The Batmobile, Batwing, and most of all his brooding character.
- The portrayal of Superman in this universe may not be as legendary as Batfleck's, but is still easily the best portrayal of Superman ever.
- Wonder Woman. 'Nuff said.
- Justice League cameos get me really excited, especially as a huge DC comics fan.
CONS
- While this film does have a wealth of awesome epic fight scenes, you don't really get to see much of Batman and Superman actually fighting, except for the one 8-minute fight scene between them. That scene is still epic, though.
- Storytelling and plot may not be completely bland, cliche and over-simplistic like many Marvel movies, however it just feels a little too overambitious with the storytelling and has too much of an overstuffed plot.
- Doesn't have much character development involved.

Overall, BvS does have its flaws, but is still a pretty solid movie. There is one more thing I want to address: The "Martha thing". See, everyone hated this movie because they thought Batman only spared Superman because their moms had the same name. I can assure you, that's NOT the case. Batman spared Clarke because he thought that Superman was an evil alien out to destroy Earth, but now that Superman is saying such a relatable human name, Batman starts to realize that maybe he's not what Bruce thought he was. Bruce wasn't able to save his mother that night as a kid, now he is getting the chance to save someone else's mother who coincidentally has the same name. So that's cleared up. One more thing: If you saw the theatrical version and didn't like it, I implore you to watch the Ultimate Edition. The story is cleaner, neater, and flows a lot smoother. Great movie.

Yes in MoS Supes was akin to Hulk in his building toppling antics but he didn't really get much choice since that is where Zod brought the fight to ! What was Supes supposed to do,ask him to change the venue to Montana or Wyoming? Much the same happens here in DoJ,the battle begins in the city and there is bound to be collateral damage !People in the Christopher Reeve films often paid with their (imagined) lives,so there's nothing that sets those films apart on that score. Like MoS,this presents a dark, more mature view of of our superheroes, who themselves are more complicated, less 2 dimensional characters than those imagined decades ago by their creators, and this is something some fans don't like . Each to their own .
The Ultimate Edition fleshes out a lot of rough edges from the Theatrical version making for a much more rounded tale, although Batman's sudden change of heart in his one on one with Superman is a little jarring and still a weak point, but what the hell,no film is beyond criticism it's just a shame this has drawn so much . Vastly superior to The Farce Awakens (which millions seem to enjoy )in terms of plot ,character motivation, acting etc etc .
Watch MoS and then this straight after and so many little nuances become far clearer, making for a good superhero moviethon. Looking forward to Wonder Woman and Justice League due for release soon. It's a shame that the Ultimate Ed. isn't 3D but that's the movie business for you!

First of all, this review does not contain spoilers - the reason being that I simply did not understand the movie.

The movie is composed of beautifully gritty images with lots of colors. I generally like colors in movies, so at this point I would give it a perfect 11. However, I did not understand the motivation behind the actions of Batman, Superman, Luthor, the manuscript writers, the directors and producers, so my total score lands on 3.

Was this movie made by combining lots of different superhero movie trailers? That would explain the time travel scene with Batman.

The giant cave monster from Lord of the Rings makes a cameo in the last 20 minutes, was this included in error?

It seems Warner Bros. is in a real hurry to reveal their comic book universe on the screen, thus already in their second movie they throw two the most iconic DC characters in a clash. However, even so accomplished visionary like Zack SnyderIt seems Warner Bros. is in a real hurry to reveal their comic book universe on the screen, thus already in their second movie they throw two the most iconic DC characters in a clash. However, even so accomplished visionary like Zack Snyder and his team failed to reach the bar, set by comic book genre and under the heap of visual effect and expressly darkness there's buried not much, because nor story, nor drama can't satisfy even in general. Moreover, careless editing and rambling screenplay harm for acceptance of positive moments.

The film starts with Bruce Wayne's parent's death and funeral scene. Such trivial opening expresses, that what you're about to see is pretty lateral and boring. On the other side, without it, Batman's motives would be not just stretched, but in absence. And it's a problem of whole movie, especially if it take into consideration that it's based on a conflict between different sides. So, no one's side position is normally justified. Whether it's Lex Luthor, who hates Superman so much, that are ready to create monster of mass-destruction and play with alien technologies, or a grumpy billionaire, who's building was destroyed during the alien invasion and now he's possessed by the idea of killing humanity's savior only because of some kind of a prejudice. In some way, there can be made parallels with Lex's mentioned childhood issues and Batman's painful experiences, but nothing of that is explained more than for a little glimpse in a whole scenario. Otherwise, Chris Terrio's script isn't bad at all, as its partially filled with some sort of drama or suspense, but it seems like it should be a multiple times longer and what we see in movie is a rough cut of it. Indeed, film is full of different story lines and characters and they are so unbalanced and intricate. So you just getting bored by all that mess, because nothing is being interpreted on cinema language and you're continuing to watch clips from different movies at the same time. Eventually, visually film looks pretty stunning, despite on its excessive dark tone. However, even this side screwed by two things. First - the lack of action, which starts approximately only in the second half, so to this moment, after all of its gloom, you are waiting of something really amazing, but what you're getting, it's «not really». Second - all actions scenes are spoiled buy enormous quantity of GCI, even where it's unnecessary. Moreover it's not so cool, as it can be. At the same time, scene of Batman rampage closer to the third act is quiet impressive, although a bit ruined by character's unreasonable savageness to his enemies. No one argues that Batman is one of the most brutal DC heroes, but in this movie he goes real mad without any, at least explained, reasons. At the same time exactly Batman's shape reaches the needed minimum within character development. Of courses, his motives are truly unknown and as a Bruce Wayne Ben Affleck is too grim or just hasn't enough time to show himself in all his glory, but there is a feeling, that after David S. Goyer left script to Terrio, Oscar-winning screenwriter started to develop screenplay especially for his friend Affleck, because In some way, film oriented on his hero, neither on others. And it's obvious, as Superman's character story takes much less time and concentrated almost on mash-ups and «catchphrases». The same thing happens to others heroes, even for well-acting Jeremy Irons' Alfred and very intriguing Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. Nevertheless, film fully failed to develop any of its characters. Especially, it effects badly on Jessy Isenberg's Lex Luther, who is interesting and a great-played character, but, due to the script, seems to become just another freaked genius with Joker style manners and actions. «Man of Steel» wasn't really a great movie, but it gave a solid boost for the universe expansion. Unfortunately, «Batman v Superman» didn't reach any of its goals. However, film's not a total fiasco and if try to perceive it by parts, even some value can be found, but in summary it only continues first movie's problems and buries powerful ideas under the mass of rough storytelling, weak character development and excess of visual effects.

This version of him is very similar to Frank Miller's Batman from The Dark Knight Returns. Overall, I love the film. To me, the story was masterful, dialogues were great, the visuals was absolutely stunning, and the Easter eggs was awesome. By the way Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman stole the show, she was astounding. Ben Affleck's performance is superb, to me, he is the BEST batman to date. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First off, yes, I am a fan of Marvel. But I am also a fan of DC and superhero films in general. The theatrical version of BvsS was not a bad movie, but it did have a number of problems that could not be ignored. First, the overall tone. I am a fan of darker films like Dredd and Watchmen, though they did not allow the tone to affect the whole movie. Both had interesting characters, great action sequences, and some light humor throughout to sustain the film. BvsS did not meet all this criteria. The darker versions of ALL the characters and the lack of any joy did not project the film in a positive light. The biggest issues, however, follow the overall writing and editing. The story, while wonderful in a number of ways, falls into illogical stupidity the next. I'm very sorry, but the 'both are mothers are Martha, we must be friends' is not justifiable to end such a fight. And the theatrical version is horribly edited throughout. The unlimited version, however is a different question. It inhancestors the film a great deal, but cannot help much of the horrible writing. The film is wonderful in a number of ways. The performances of Eisenberg, Gabot, and Irons are amazing is there own sense, and the rest are varying degrees of good. Snyder, though misguided, did provide a spectical film. Overall, see the unlimited version to appreciate the performances, action, and certain elements of writing. The story and tone, however, are not perfect by any means, and I can only hope Warner has learned from the mistakes in thus film. Expand

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad film by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not a tremendous film either. It could've been way better, but it could've been way worse. I'd still recommend checking out "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" if you're feeling curious. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was my favorite superhero movie of last year. I'm having a really hard time understanding why this receives all of the hate it does. I personally think a lot of people were expecting a marvel style movie and we're put off by the realistic tone Snyder was trying to achieve. I loved the build up to the fight it's self and I thought the everything before it was nessecary and expected in a follow up to Man of Steel. The Battle of Metropolis was a big deal, lots of people died, the first portion of BvS is all about the fallout to that battle and was something that needed to be addressed. In a sense BvS is about varying opinions of what is right and what is wrong, and I think that it showcases how our world would actually react if something like Superman existed. This is a film which requires you to pay attention to everything, and one that benefits from additional viewings. It's a film that requires you the think beyond the script, to question and draw conclusions of your own. It doesn't shove everything down your throat, it expects you to pay attention and if you don't you most likely will find the movie boring and a waste of time. A bit of advise, though not required I recommend watcing Man of Steel before BvS, it just helps justify the majority of this film. I'd also strongly recommend skipping the theatrical cut and watching the Ultimate Edition which I think was the version of the film that Snyder wanted us to see, it fixes a lot of the problems you'll find in the negative reviews across the Internet. Overall I think BvS is a great film, but if you go into it expecting a marvel style film you will be disappointed. Expand

- Wonder Woman
- Justice League
- The Flash
- dream sequences
- dumb humor
- dumb drama
- dumb violence
--and last but not least--

This movie should have been focused completely on the core relationship between Batman and Superman. Why do these guys hate each other? More importantly, why do they want to kill each other so much that they are willing to commit murder in order to do so? This movie's problem is the lack of focus in basic storytelling. This movie shouldn't be an exposition for movies five or maybe even ten years later, it should be a movie; especially since it's the second in a cinematic universe.

I also think that it should have taken away a lot of its focus on Lex Luthor and Lois Lane.

This movie, however, has a lot of awesome visuals, good performances, an amazing score, and some other stuff that I'm too lazy to mention.

This movie was okay.

Also, Ben Affleck is totally NOT the best Batman.

These aren't holes you ask yourself on the 3rd viewing; you're asking yourself during the 1st viewing. Marvel has found a technique that really works but D.C. It was really interesting to me because while marvel heroes are always painted as distinctly good guys, here you have superman who is revered by some but hated by others. Despite being completely different, batman too faces the same moral questions as superman as he is viewed as a vigilante. It's just very interesting how different the heroes are they both face the exact same paradox of balancing the good, like how batman wants to kill superman initially and at the same time superman sees batman as a criminal operating outside the law basically. The only part of the movie I didn't like was how batman so quickly changed his mind about superman just cus they told him how Lex was manipulating the situation. And I'm not speaking only as a cinephile, but also as a long time comics lover. Seriously, it's not year 1992. At DC they must have been drunk to release this piece of junk. First of all the screenplay is so badly written, my 4 years old niece could have done a better job. It seems like they have no other option than showing the death of Bruce
Wayne's parents again and again. Every time slightly different. And him falling into the damn pit. All the great work they did with the Dark Knight trilogy has vanished! Gone forever. Forgotten. I was wishing they were planning to add some interesting facets to Superman and Wonder Woman, to save them (and me) from the clichés they are, but no. They threw Batman too in a mud of superficial plot, where everything
happens for no (or stupid) reasons. Ben Affleck already killed Daredevil. Now he'll be wrecking with his inexpressive mask the next generation of Batman movies too! Guys, you just took my enthusiasm for
DC's upcoming movies away.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where to start? a few good action sequences do not a coherent story make - much like the derided MoS. Which is unfortunate, as you'd have thought Snyder and WB would have learned their lesson, or at least taken note of the things people (very vocally) found wrong with that movie. The plot in BvS at times is so thin as to beggar belief, relying on such flimsy plot points that you need to re-watch the movie just to figure out what they actually were, and the re-watch again just to make sure they were as **** as you thought they were. Which is a terrible waste - of time for you, of opportunity for WB/DC.

I literally hate Henry Cavill as Superman, with his one dimensional performance, Snyders horrible colouring that makes him look more like a character out of TWD than anything else, the horrible shiny suit, his over-bulked appearance, and that freaky dimple on his chin. The fact that they shoe-horned Lex Luthor, the Dark Knight Returns story and Doomsday (the death of Superman) into one movie - 3 major, major plot lines - just leaves my jaw having open. The fact that Doomsday is the worse CGI creation since jar jar binks is just another kick in the teeth to those who ever hoped to see these characters done justice on the big screen.

The sheer illogicality of the story is at times mind blowing. I won't go over all the times that you will very likely turn to whoever you're watching the movie with, a puzzled look on your face, just to make sure you saw what you think you saw, but suffice to say it makes less sense than a jigsaw puzzle of an incomplete scene with half the pieces missing.

Lois Lane and Lex Luthor are not even worth mentioning - suffice to say Amy Adams and Jesse Eisenberg are not the best choices, as great as those 2 might be in other roles.

I don't mind a dark tone - in fact i think at times it works well, in certain contexts. Not here, and not all the time, but once in awhile. But the biggest failing of this movie is not the dark tone, as so many love to point out, but the the shoddy, borderline incompetent storytelling and the humourless execution. There is very little to endear this movie to either fans or casual viewers alike.

Batman as a villain type character is thrilling and even terrifying if you can get over the fact that he’s a grown man dressed like a Bat. All things considered, I am a huge fan of the character and I think they are on to something special with Ben Affleck’s portrayal. His facial expressions - while in the Bat suit - really draw out a human side of the Batman that I think we have never seen before. He is Bruce Wayne in a costume not the other way around. That was a refreshing take on the character – which past iterations portrayed the human side as simply “Bruce Wayne, eccentric billionaire.” {Tangent} I must say that It saddens me that we will never see Heath Ledger and Ben Affleck square off against one another, but I say give Jared Leto another chance!

As for Wonder Women, her character was simply magnanimous. After numerous fighting scenes throughout the movie, you become numb to the violence and destruction happening just about everywhere. However, her unique set of weapons and most of all her battle cries keep you engaged when you’re just on the edge of loosing focus. I don’t know that I am particularly excited to see her stand alone movie, but I will say that seeing her in the Justice League should be awesome!

Lex or “Alexander” Luther was a bit Heath Ledgerish to me, which I truly think hurt his character tremendously. With that said, he delivered some of the best acting performances down the stretch of this film opposite Holly Hunter or Henry Cavill – most of all the “Death By Fire” line. If he does reprise his role as Lex Luther, Jesse Eisenberg should show a different side of the character – meaning less like The Joker.

All in all, the movie was not great in retrospect, but it was an effective way of introducing audiences to the new DC Universe. I rate it a solid seven, although I completely understand why many people rate it lower.

You want toThe only exciting about this movie is when you bet with your friends who will get a Razzie. Ok let's break it down. This movie is derived from the big book of superhero cliches and unless you're 10 yr old you have seen it all. You want to establish a superhero ? Get him to save a girl who's staring blankly while a ton of rubble is falling down on her head. For the whole 3 hour (!) you get to see many cliched scenes, melodramatic cliched scenes played in slow motion that at one point you just want to yell enough already I get your point. Now the cast. Well we have a Batman who's not exactly the Batman but a bad cop doing all sort of police brutality. Then there's Superman and his nemesis Lex Luthor. Between those three I'm willing to bet one them will win a Razzie although my money's on Lex or Superman. Superman is trying hard to look mellow. But with Cavill's act, there are times I cannot tell if he is sad or cringing. Then there's Lex. Lex here isn't the cool-headed calculating Lex but a rambling lunatic like The Joker. He speaks in incoherent manner which supposedly evokes the image of a mad genius. But the way he puts it, he's just simply incoherent. I'm pretty sure the extras in this movie didn't fake it when they put up the "wtf are you talking about" looks to his speech. And finally the plot. Well if you have watched Superman-Batman animated, Justice League or even the trailer then you'll get the backdrop of the movie. There's probably one or two reasons why people can begin to distrust Superman. Now how can one make something predictable worse ? One way is by making it ridiculous. By the time you get to the well-anticipated fight between the two superheroes you will say to yourself "What ?? Is that why they fight ?". Another Razzie for the scriptwriter. Expand

This film is a masterpiece, that's the only way to describe it, a masterpiece. Intelligent and full of depth, filled with smart themes of politics, religion and humanity. The film also has some very clever black comedy as well. Characters are extremely well written, with great character development and motivations. A film you need to pay attention too, as it doesn't try to spoon feed it's audience. This film is not for Dumb minded Marvel extremists, It's better than any Marvel film in every way. Bold and beautiful cinematography, full of Visual metaphors, Snyder proves himself as the Kubrick of the action genre. Expand

6.5/10 Expand

So after watching this movie a second time, I enjoy it far more. I really enjoyed Affleck's Batman, the dreams sequences were amazing. Overall though, lots of great moments.

It got caught in a little bit of Spiderman 3 villain-itis. All three of the superheroes worked, including Superman. Lois Lane doesn't work for me, and the movie rushed Superman's big scene, so the stakes did not feel that dire.

That being said, the critics are still off on this one. If you look at the reviews of Thor: The Dark World, you can easily see which studio pays for their reviews--because Thor 2 sucked far worse than this one.
