It's really cool to see Batman and Superman fighting it off, however the film can be really stupid at times with poor pacing and a lot of flat characters

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is movie was a terrible mess. Terrible pacing, terrible character development, and story is too dark. Superman is too moody and depressed not hopeful like he is in the comic. The story doesn't explain why Batman's super edgy. Lex Luthor was like The Joker without the makeup. Really? Jimmy Olsen is a **** CIA officer and dies in the beginning of the film. Killing off Superman without introducing the Supermen. Doomsday looks like Lord of the Rings troll and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle reject combined. The only saving grace was Wonder Woman. How did Lex Luthor knew about the other future members of the Justice League? Where was the seventh member of the Justice League? This is movie was like trying to catch up with The Avengers. DCEU needs soft reboot or retcon stuff from Man of Steel and this movie. Expand

Cavill is superb as Supes, a paragon of earnest nobility struggling against a messy and fallen world, and Affleck is simply a revelation as the Dark Knight. For my money his performance here is the best the character has ever been protrayed: genuinely frightening and intimidating, motivated by ungovernable rage.

The critics are dumb, and people who throw around words like "grimdark" are just allegic to actual drama and tension (they want movies to all be cheesy mind-numbing sitcoms where the throwaway CGI villain gets dispensed with in between dorky one-liners). BvS is one of very few superhero movies that actually succeeds as gripping cinema, not just as a lowest-common-denominator summer tentpole.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I haven't seen a superhero movie this convoluted, unfocused and boring before. What should've been the greatest superhero crossover that every superhero and comic book fan waited for their entire life ended up being a mess of a movie. Really, a superhero movie about the fight between Batman and Superman shouldn't have been hard to do, but it seems that director Zack Snyder just made an unnecessarily hard work. My review contains spoilers, but I think it doesn't matter because the trailers gave the ENTIRE movie, ALL the spoilers, they just needed to show the death of Superman too, but I still indicate this contains spoilers, even if I don't need to.
I'll start with the bad.

The Bad:
-DC just wasted too many good storylines with potential in their SECOND installment of their attempt to compete with the MCU, they wasted the Dark Knight returns story, they wasted a Batman vs Superman movie, they wasted the Death of Superman, oh my GOD. Just imagine if after Iron Man, Marvel released Civil War, that introduces Captain America, Bucky, Spider-Man and all the other characters and Zemo creates the Red Hulk from Iron Monger's dead body and Cap and Iron Man team up to fight it and Iron Man dies at the end sacrificing himself, don't you think that sounds convoluted? Wasn't this movie called "Batman v Superman"? Then why do the trailers showed that they end up teaming up with Wonder Woman to fight Doomsday!? Such a misleading title then.
-This is just made to promote the DCEU, people payed to see a two and a half hour long ad for the DCEU, with unnecesary cameos of characters (don't worry this is also a problem some MCU movies also have) just to set up future movies.
-The movie is overall just boring. It has a non-sensical plot, bland acting by most of the actors (specially from Henry Cavill) and I guess I can't blame them because the cast has actually talented actors but the material they have to work with is so awful.
-Just like with Man of Steel, Superman's personality is just so boring, and he is not a superhero, he's barely shown actually saving people, isn't that the point of a superhero movie? Showing the superhero doing heroic stuff? He couldn't even save his own mother, Batman did, I just hate this version of Superman. Making him not cracking a single smile or joke doesn't make him "realistic", it just makes him a bad character.
-Why not just make this an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns? Just without the death of Batman.
-Jesse Eissenberg as Lex Luthor.
-Martha.

The good, I think:
-This Batman is just so cool. I think the best scenes of the movie are with Batman which makes me think that if this was a standalone Batman reboot, it would've been SO much better, the warehouse fight is just the best scene of the movie, hands down. Ben Affleck's acting as the dark knight is amazing, and fits the role, too bad he was wasted in Justice League.
-Even though the "Batman vs Superman" scene is very short for a two and a half hour movie, I think it's actually very cool, it's a moment in cinematic comic book history, it's obviously ruined by the laughable Martha thing.
-The cinematography, by that I mean the color palette...I liked it. Zack Snyder tries to make this movie look dark (even though this doesn't fit Superman's character) and he actually did a good job in that regard, proving that he's a visual guy, not a good director.

You know the rest.

That only line from the movie describes perfectly the relation between the public and this movie. Is not nearly as bad as how much people say, but not a masterpiece like how some DC fans say. Is not a bad movie, but is neither an excellent movie. It has a lot of flaws in it's structure. There are scenes that are horribly executed like the "Martha" thing. If you see it in a technnical way, you'll see a very disorganized mess of a movie, if you see it like just a story, you'll get an interesting story about the clash of the two greatest superheroes of all time in a philosophical background. That's when my second problem with this movie comes, the third act. The payoff to all this plotlines that have been builded up to the end of the movie just end in a dumb blockbuster way. Like the conflict between Superman and Batman, that ends with a CGI monster destroying all of the internal conflict.

6.5/10 movie - Acceptable.

Sure, there might be some things that are wrong about the movie, for example Batman being a killer and Superman being depressing, but overall, it is amazing. All of you DC haters out there, stop being jerks. Also, people who want to watch this movie, please don't say you don't want to see it because of what the critics say. Go watch it and make your own review. The dislike for this movie is very unjust and cruel. It is great. I recommend it especially to comic book lovers. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Terrible movie. An even bigger sleep-inducing film than Man of Steel. This movie was super extremely boring. It was so boring and terrible that it put me to sleep. One of the worst superhero movies ever made and one of the worst movies I have ever watched. This movie didn't even really have a plot, just a bunch of boring, random, and badly tied scenes put together and extended to 2 and a half hours and/or 3 hours long. The story is full of countless plot holes and almost everything in BvS does not make sense. The pacing is horribly slow. Jesse Eisenburg's acting was terrible and over-the-top. He made a horrible Lex Luthor. Eisenburg was horribly miscast as Lex Luthor. Batman and Superman only fight each other once for like 5 or 8 minutes. The "Martha" scene was horrific and incredibly dumb. BvS is a huge mess. Unwatchable garbage. Snoresville! Expand

Plot: 6

The second instalment in the DC Extended Universe features two iconic superheroes of DC Comics, Batman and Superman, battling against each other for the first time in the big screen. For this review, I will be writing based on the Ultimate Edition, instead of theatrical version.

18 months after the events of Man of Steel, Superman (Cavill) is now seen as a hero by many people all over the world but there are people who see him as a controversial figure who do whatever he wants and answers to no one. Gotham City vigilante, Bruce Wayne/Batman (Affleck), see him as an extra-terrestrial threats against humanity. Superman learnt of Batman’s existence and his ways of bringing bad people to justice, he vows to expose him through the Daily Planet articles as his civilian identity, Clark Kent. After encountering the Man of Steel face-to-face for the first time, the Dark Knight vows to kill him when the time comes.

Unknown to both heroes, CEO of LexCorp, Lex Luthor (Eisenberg) has been secretly manipulated the entire event from behind-the-scenes in order to have Batman fight against Superman. Meanwhile, Bruce discovers that Luthor has been investigating metahumans which these humans possessed superpowers and he believes he has seen one of them in person who is a young woman named Diana Prince from the old photo taken during World War I.

Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck definitely gave their best performance including Gal Gadot who managed to steal some spotlights despite only appearing late in the movie as another DC Comics iconic heroine, Wonder Woman. I really like Affleck’s role as Batman and he is certainly the true Batman from the comic book compared to the previous actors’ take on the character. Jesse Eisenberg’s role as Lex Luthor does not resemble the character in the comic book at all and I felt he was miscast for the role. Despite this, I do hope that he will perform better in future instalments.

Unfortunately, the pace of the movie is too dragging in the middle of the three hours movie which gets a little boring with little action and fighting scenes. Like Man of Steel, the movie also lacked some sense of humours and comedy relief moments. Because of this, this movie may not be your cup of tea unless you don’t mind about it. The only full action and fighting scenes are during the third act which is pretty much fun and enjoyable.

In comparison to the theatrical version, the Ultimate Edition restored many scenes that have been cut from the theatrical version and includes additional scenes which repaired the plot holes caused by the theatrical version. The Ultimate Edition even completed the subplots of the movie which were left out by the theatrical version and have more character developments for the supporting characters. If you are planning to watch this movie, I would definitely recommend watching the Ultimate Edition.

A juvenile's dream come true. Batman v Superman is a dark, eerie stunner that is deepened by Zimmer’s melancholic music paired with an insipid plot. Poor acting by Jesse Eisenberg doesn’t make it better either, he is simply not fit for his role. But the rest of the cast still acted well enough. I’m still deciding whether it’s elevating the superhero genre or making a complete mockery of it – a caricature if you like. Perhaps both. Whatever it is, I still got goose bumps at the end and even if the ending doesn’t make sense I still found it entertaining as a whole. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

It really really was awesome... Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice presents the definition of "The Great Movie"!
I'm here to talk about The Theatrical Cut and The Ultimate Edition too. Actually I loved both of them!

I enjoyed every single moment in this movie -both cuts- from the operation credits -and I actually knew that it's gonna be perfectly directed- 'til the ending credits.

As the score, Hans Zimmer did it again with a great, ear-comfort and fitting soundtrack.

The direction is great, and the CGI was mistake-less and eye-comforting in every possible way it could be!

As the performances, I have no comment but AWESOME! A lot of people will disagree with me, but for me they were amazing!

And the last thing is the story, that satisfied me as a huge fan of DC, more than any other movie in the DCEU! For sure BvS is my favorite DC -and not only DCEU- movie of all time!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn't understand why so many bad comments were coming, so it wasn't a very good movie but it didn't deserve so bad reviews.

DC started a new series in the first film(Man Of Steel) about the Superman , which was the second film while Batman V Superman, although it was actually a bit of a batman-weighted film, at least giving it an impression.
I like the movie, I like the batman, maybe I like this movie so I like it.

but frankly the scenes script all came to me beautiful,I didn't like the last battle scene thats it

I also liked the fact that the death of the superman added an emotional atmosphere to the film.

In fct, we have good performances like Ben Affleck (an awesome Bruce Wayne and a good Batman), Amy Adams and Diane Lane, for example. Henry Cavill does not deliver such a solid performance, but does a decent service. However, Jesse Eisenvberg delivers a caricatured and exaggerated performance, similar to something that Nicolas Cage would do in his worst films (which is even negatively surprising if you consider Eisenberg's good performances in "The End of the Tour" and "The Social Network").. The direction of the fight scenes is effective, but the script makes slips and has its inconsistencies (that go beyond a certain moment of plot twist). There are some good ideas in the script, but the execution is just so muddy with some immensely questionable decisions in the script and in the filmmaking. As a whole I don't really like the film anymore (though the extended cut is a tiny bit better) but I still like parts of it: I love the music, Ben Afflec and Gal Gadot are pretty great and I honestly like the cinematography (even though admittedly it did not fit the film). As much as my opinions have changed about Batman V Superman it still gave me a fantastic experience in the cinemas so for that alone I am a little fond of it still. Expand

I was joyfully blown away by the surprisingly existent and powerful plot (which I had heard was nothing). Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot both did a fantastic acting job, and Ben Affleck did a pretty good job as well, though he wasn’t as good a Batman as Michael Keaton was in Batman and Batman Returns (as of this writing, I have not seen the Dark Knight trilogy, so I can not compare Ben Affleck to Christian Bale yet). The special effects were outstanding, on par with the rest of the DCEU. I loved the tension between the two titular characters, as well as the surprise ending! In summary, while lots of people hated this movie, I found it really enjoyable and beyond! The only thing that I would have changed is the length of the movie. Similar to Man of Steel, it felt like it ran too long. Expand

If I'm being honest, objectively, this isn't the worst movie I've ever seen. Heck, it isn't even the worst Zack Snyder film I've ever seen; that honor remains reserved for Sucker Punch of course. But I have never had a film break me like this one did. And I hope I never see another film that I have such intense and genuine hatred for, as I do this one. This is a movie that was not only an offense as a film; but to someone who is a genuine, and huge fan of these characters, this was a travesty and an iniquity of a movie. To see beloved children's characters twisted into monstrosities, and literally turned into the antithesis of what they have always been, was a real heart-breaker. I weep for myself, the fans of these characters, the general public who has always shown love for these characters, and most of all for the kids, who will grow up thinking this, this outrage is what Batman and Superman, and the DC universe is all about. Very important personal sidenote: To see Batman, a man who has always vowed to never take a life, no matter how evil the person may be, become a mass murdering serial killer was unforgivable. Expand

(THE FOLLOWING REVIEW IS FOR THE ULTIMATE EDITION, WHICH IS FAR SUPERIOR TO THE THEATRICAL CUT AND EXPANDS ON CERTAIN PLOT POINTS MORE FULLY.)

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition is most certainly not the bloated, stupid mess that it is often reviled as being. It's a dark, visually stunning, surprisingly smart epic that certainly isn't built for mainstream audiences.

Zack Snyder is a very under-appreciated director. Say what you will about his choice of bleak colors and themes, the man has talent. Batman v. Superman is a gorgeous-looking film. Every shot looks like there was a plethora of thought and care put into it to ensure that its purpose was served. Everything captured on screen has a deepness of color and texture that is seldom acknowledged by today's moviegoers. The visual effects--with the exception of a couple of brief moments--are seamless and blend naturally with everything caught naturally on camera. My mouth gaped with awe at every frame and I never wanted to take my eyes off of the screen.

Hans Zimmer's score here is absolutely brilliant. It flows so naturally, adding tension to tense scenes and adding heart to moving scenes. I can't say enough good things about it.

As for the far more important matters of story, writing, and character development, none of these fall flat either. There certainly are a lot of characters in Batman v. Superman, and that can be a glaring weakness for a film as development gets scattered and lost. But this movie knows which characters to focus on and which ones not to. The script is leaps and bounds more intelligent than it's given credit for. Sure, there are some cheesy lines that feel forced, but for the most part the dialogue doesn't deviate from plot development and nearly every line serves to reveal deep emotion buried in each character. This is not a lighthearted superhero movie. It's a gloomy tragedy and everyone involved in the story, both hero and villain, is battling internal demons as they're plagued by feelings of inadequacy and jealousy despite the wealth and power they possess.

This isn't a happy-go-lucky, let's go kill the bad guy Marvel film. DC has given us something so much deeper than that here. People often complain about the fact that Lex Luthor's plan here doesn't make any sense. (Oh, and Marvel villains' plans do?) Granted, it can seem convoluted as the story progresses and they could have done a better job at clearing up his intentions and logic. But once everything is understood, it really says something about Lex's personality and he becomes much more relatable as a character. Without spoiling anything, in the end, Lex is just as damaged inside as the heroes are. They're really not that different.

Batman v. Superman isn't a film without flaws. It's a bit too long and a little too ambiguous. There really aren't any standout performances, but there isn't a single bad performance, either. Everyone plays their roles very well and emotions run stunningly deep. It's the rare superhero movie that works on an intellectual level, raising thought-provoking moral questions and providing somber character arcs that stick with you after the credits roll.

The film explores various themes most notably how the feeling of powerlessness can be a corrupting force. I'm sure you are familiar with the phrase "Power corrupts" however in this film we see how the feeling of powerlessness can blind one, lead one down a dark path and leave one open to manipulation.

As with all modern Zack Snyder films BvS is filled with symbolism as well as artistic and interesting visual storytelling. For the fans of the source material there are also tons of Easter eggs to be discovered throughout the film. There are fascinating details in every scene.

The film does not spoon-feed the audience. If you pay attention to the dialogue, audio, props, shot composition and symbolism of objects then you can come to appreciate the majestic achievement that this film is.

Lois: It's his mother's name.
Batman: I don't want to fight. I don't want to fight with every people whose mother's name are Martha even though they are the biggest threat in the world.(made up)

Too slow, the best part of the movie were at the end with the Batman fight scenes.
Affleck made good impression of Batman, he looks pretty good as a Bruce Wayne as well, however the Snyder interpretation is kind like a Brute and dumb Batman who is easily manipulated by Lex Luthor, which by the way outsmart everyone.
There were a lots of fault on the story. I can't recommend to anyone but the real fans because must of the people fall asleep before half of the movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman v Superman is a great movie. Ben Affleck is also a magnificent Batman rivaling both Michael Keaton and Christian Bale. In my opinion though Jessie Hisnberg was a mistake as Lex. Now this movie covers two comics. The battle between Batman and Superman in the dark knight returns and the death of
Superman. As I previously said, yes Superman dies by the hands Doomsday. Most people will think that it's too early to kill off Superman in the second movie, but I thought it was ballsy move and I'm ok with that plus it's great motivation to start the JLA. So if you're a fan of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, or even just good movies give Batman v Superman a watch.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Unfortunately for the real fans, Batman v Superman is a bad movie simply because the director Sack Snyder and writer David Goyer didn’t understand the real motivations of the main characters. Batman doesn’t kill and Superman is a symbol of hope. Simple but complicated. And I ask you the next question: If Batman is able and wants to kill Superman because he is a threat for humanity, and considering that the Joker killed a Robin (Jason Todd) and the time Batman was working in Gotham, then why is Joker still alive? It doesn’t have any sense. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman v Superman
The movie has a welcomed serious tone and a depth that is intriguing, but it twists itself around ruining the characters. Overall I really enjoyed parts, but it makes me want to know what was reshot and what they changed on the cutting room floor. I loved one theme of the story; the theme of Superman being an idol/god to many people, and the danger that may cause. Batman distrusted this unequal balance of power of a god Superman, and it seemed like a true motivation to oppose Superman. This would have been a perfect setup for a Bizarro Superman to trick the masses, and become a real false god who abuses his power. But instead the movie relied on unreasonable misunderstandings between Batman and Superman that ruined any good logic of the characters.

The movie made Batman emotionally blind and sadistic, and the way he treats Superman is moronic. The movie basically created a big misunderstanding that goes on most of the movie, so that Batman wants to sadistically murder Superman. His detective skills and reasoning are gone from this movie. A few scenes are enjoyable like when Batman is purely badass to the bad guys. Batman is only a "good" guy because we like Batman, but if he were dressed in a different custom then his actions would make him the villain. Superman is mute and moronic. The US government is condemning of Superman and distrusts his powers, all because of a big misunderstanding, yet Superman has no voice. Everything about Superman's thought process is slow, and frustrating to watch. Doesn't Superman talk ever to explain? (Yeah I know he shows up at Congress well into the movie). doesn't Lois Lane even write articles to explain her first hand knowledge of Superman? Does Superman land far away from Batman so he can moronically walk into Batman's trap, and meekly tell Batman about the misunderstandings orchestrated by Lex Luther? The movie tried to make Lex Luther be the glue to connect everything together. He invites Batman, Clark Kent, and Wonder Woman to the same party. He has files on the other mutants. He has access to all science and money, bails out the guy in the wheelchair, and gains access to Zod's ship. He has his finger in EVERYTHING and pulls the strings to trick EVERYONE. It was too much, and not a satisfying plot connection. Also he shows up everywhere as the plot needs to force him to connect, which was only topped by Lois Lane being everywhere as the plot needs.

The movie relied on both main characters, Batman and Superman to be stupid and not empathetic to each other, which hurt the film. They resolve their differences immediately in the movie, with a stupid connection, and they forget the whole hate for each other. The film makers forced the team to come together for the end scene. They did fine with including Wonder Woman, in fact I felt proud when they were all working together. But it was lame how they pasted in the other mutant characters like Cyborg, Aquaman, Flash, by using top secret camera footage that was like posed commercials.

I enjoyed the foreshadowing scene of Batman's dream in the desert, of evil superman, flying bug guys, someone in a portal warning Batman. Did they intend to have Superman evil at some point? We shall see if this is all meant for later movies, but it shows how unfocused this film is.

Final annoyance, Why does Doomsday's roar sound EXACTLY THE SAME as every big monster IN EVERY MOVIE??

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman V. Superman was truly truly a masterpiece of a movie. It is sad to say many "critics" would not understand such an amazing movie. It has many motifs and symbolism. It's a movie where you really have to think and piece some the plot together. It got me thinking a lot and I've seen it multiple times. Superman's selfless act of sacrificing himself to Doomsday snaps Batman out of the rage he has been in at the end of the movie. This Batman we are given is a worn down Batman who is old and now tired of criminals. You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. I think Zack Snyder was amazing in incorporating religious imagery into the movie as well. When we see Superman hovering over a family whose house has been flooded; We see that the family is reaching out to him not only as a hero but they see him as a God figure. Also towards the end of the movie when Superman lays dead; Wonder Woman, Batman, and Lois Lane lay over him. They scene looks specifically shot like the "Descent From The Cross" painting of Jesus being taken away from the cross. The scores beautifully composed by Hans Zimmer really creates an atmosphere that emotionally strikes you in the heart. They blend very well together with the scenes and are also very memorable! Overall BvS was a movie of pure awesome masterpiece! I know for sure in the future more people will learn to respect the movie and see it for what it truly is. It will go down as one of the best DCEU movies. Expand

They didn't even know each other, so its hard to feel like there's any weight behind the fight. It portrays batman as being vengeful and illogical. Yet Batman is supposed to have one of the greatest deductive minds in all of DC.

Instead here is how it should have gone. 1. Batman should never have been the one branding and killing criminals. Instead it should have been Deathstroke hired by Luthor and perfectly disguised as "Batman" to be the one killing and branding. This of course would make Superman think that Batman is a thug and thus his motivation to stop him. Of course we as the audience would not know right away that sometimes when we see Batman that's its not really him, that reveal would come about half way through where "Batman" removes the cowl and we see that its really Slade Wilson pretending to be Batman. Then we as the audience would see the pieces start to make sense.

2. At the same time that Deathstroke is mascarading as Batman, Luthor is fabricating incriminating stories and events against Superman. Thus causing Batman to think that Superman is a malevolent god. Likewise this big reveal happens for us and our two heroes in the middle of the movie and we all realize that's its all a set up. Luthor, by pitting Superman and Batman wants their fight to cause destruction in both Gotham and Metropolis. Why? Money. Luthor whole motivation for anything is money and power. And the value and power of LexCorp skyrocketed after his investments into the post Man of Steel rebuilding effort, and Luthor is so drunk with power and money that he is willing to manipulate our two heroes into causing city wide destruction so that he can continue to profit. So that's my idea in a nutshell. I know it doesn't solve every problem with the movie.

And btw, they should have watied to do a true Batman vs Superman movie several movies into the DCEU after Batman and Superman have a strong and established relationship of friendship and trust. In this versus movie Superman would have been infected by whatever version of kryptonite makes him evil. Batman is thus forced to engage him, and either has to find a way to defeat the effects of the evil kryptonite or he has to kill Superman with green Kryptonite.

And by the time THAT scene comes along, you know, the one that totally takes us for fools, I gave up. How can a movie with such a dumb premise ever be good to some people, I seriously can't comprehend. Avoid this like the plague. And oh, Batman looks fat and goofy and Superman looks flat and wooden, and that seems to be the least of its problems.

Let me start by saying, I see why this movie has gotten bad reviews from many, but the movie is incredible and here is why:

There are many scenes that can confuse your average movie-goer. This is because the movie requires some prior DC universe knowledge to fully comprehend what you are seeing. having a large DC comics collection and being a major fan of the DC universe I had no problem with this.

Now I know you're saying " Well shouldn't movies explain scenes like?" In most cases yes, however if they took the time to explain all of those details now the movie would be several hours longer. I won't mention which scenes I'm talking about but if you've seen it you will know.

So this movie is a movie that plays like a comic book almost. It is actually made for the fans of DC comics. Why is this good? Often movie studios don't give the kind of creative control to directors to let them make movies that require some prior knowledge (but Snyder also did this with Watchmen), but the fact that it was made this way will make the lore and story much deeper and connected. Many off the things you saw will make sense when the Justice League and Wonder Woman movies come out respectively. Directors have a choice: They can make a movie that appeals to the largest group of people, or a movie that appeals to the fans of the actual source material, Zack chose the later and I'm glad he did. If you want a crash course in some DC lore I recommend watching some of the animated films like Justice League: War.

Other than that notion: Batman was a total badass, superman had depth, the batmobile and batwing were incredible. Wonder Woman was awesome and against popular opinion I even liked Jesse Eisenberg's iteration of Lex Luthor.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and will definitely be seeing it again. If you don't know much about DC, study up on the DC universe if you like that sort of thing and it makes the movie that much better, but even if you don't the movie is cool as ****

The atmosphere, and especially the simbiology and the new subjective conception of gods introduced throughout the film. They allow the viewer to see much further, even to debate in some philosophical aspects about the attribution of the gods through humanity. The gods are not glorified, but they are questioned and punished. The staging, the artistic direction immerses you in a reality that seems to be inside a comic book vignette. At the level of actors, I think it's a good cast that works well as a team.
It is full of epic moments, and music is an indispensable element to climax.I really love that film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman's biggest traits are that he's the world's greatest detective, and that he has an unshakable sense of morality. Movie Batman is neither of these things, getting fooled by Lex's terrible plan, ignoring logic and literally everyone by trying to kill Superman, and killing people when he really doesn't need to.

After that, there's problems with Batman's motivations. People say he has PTSD etc, but he sees Superman saving thousands of lives every day for the last two years. He says that he believes that Superman is a threat to mankind, and therefore must be killed. He makes a huge scene when stealing the kryptonite and ends up having to steal it stealthily anyways, which is the most Batman style thing he does and its off screen...He gets the kryptonite, makes a spear and gas instead of a bullet. He then places the spear in a building far away from where he baits Superman, and only ends up in that building because Superman throws him on top of it. He finds out Superman is more immune than he expected to the kryptonite, the only weapon that can hurt him, which makes him even more of a threat. Despite all this, he doesn't kill Superman, just because he finds out he's a normal guy with an earth family. He's killed tons of humans in the movie; him just being a normal guy shouldn't matter, and Superman poses more of a threat than all of them combined, plus he's running out of kryptonite. This is probably his last chance to be a threat to Superman. As an aside, the fight itself is pretty stupid; Superman tosses Batman around for 2 minutes and 15 seconds, without even telling him about why he's there. This is an experienced Superman, but he doesn't tell Batman why they're fighting, or just immediately kill him with heat vision or by flying him into space, thereby accomplishing neither peace nor saving his mom.

Either Batman's initial conviction to kill Superman isn't enough, or his reasoning to spare him is too weak. Superman is still extremely powerful. Learning about his mother doesn't actually change the threat he poses at all, which is the entire reason he wants to kill him. Edit: Batman kills people that are just normal people throughout the movie. That doesn't change the fact that Superman is an even greater threat now that the element of surprise with the kryptonite is gone and he's running out of kryptonite.

Superman does almost nothing in the movie other than question himself. He saves people with his godlike powers, but complains and mopes while doing it. He literally says that he's only Superman out of obligation to his dead father. He leaves when he's disheartened (comic Superman would never, ever do that), and it takes hallucinating Pa Kent to get him to come back. That's not Superman at all, that's just some dude that happens to have these powers. The idea of Man of Steel was to end with Superman being Superman. In BvS, most of the character development was undone and Superman doesn't solve any of the things that are bothering him, instead just dying. In Superman: Birthright, Lex has a much better plan and it works, turning the entire city against Superman and broadcasting kryptonite radiation. Despite this, he refuses to leave and risks himself to save the people that fear and attack him. Meanwhile, in BvS, people question him and he outright leaves to hallucinate his dead Earth father, only coming back when people directly connected to him are in trouble. Also, if he could sense that Lois was in danger multiple times in the movie, why couldn't he just find Martha within a full hour?
Lex still gets caught at literally every step of his plan (the middle-eastern attack, kidnapping Lois and Martha, blowing up the senate, and creating Doomsday). He leaves Lois, an accomplished reporter, alive twice, even after seeing his face. At the one point where Lex's plan to discredit Superman succeeds and Superman actually leaves, he kidnaps Lois and forces him to come back... Poor Jesse's portrayal of Lex was also outright awful. There's almost nothing of the comic character in the way he's portrayed or written. Lex is suave, the smartest person on the planet, very complex, steps ahead, and always manipulating. The only similarity movie Lex has to this is that he's manipulative, but it's executed so poorly that it doesn't save anything.

These are just some of the overreaching problems with the three main characters of the movie. Batman isn't a detective and is easily manipulated, while also trying to murder someone he sees saving thousands all the time over 2 years. Other people argue about Superman, but he himself barely does anything. Lex's plan is absolute trash and he throws his entire life and corporation away based on very weak motivations against Superman. Lois takes up screen time in a bloated movie and accomplishes almost nothing and has no arc. Character decisions make no sense. It was disappointing to say the least.

There isn't a seemingly repetitive formulaic feel as in other films as we've seen before in the same universe, and this, although still having world-class action scenes, has a lot more story and character development in it making for an extremely entertaining film. Moreover the acting was brilliant and also having world class performances from the likes of Jesse Eisenberg. A must watch for action fans, a must watch for slightly more engaging films and of course for any fans of the marvel dc universes. Expand

TL;DR at the bottom for those with little time to spare :)

Batman V Superman isn't nearly as bad as the critics made it out to be. Sure it's a disappointment, but not what I'd call bad. The story tries to cram in too much yes, and the villains are a little pathetic, but where all else fails, Batman shines. Ben Affleck's Batman fits in well with the darker tones of the movie, and that warehouse fight scene resembles much of the critically acclaimed Arkham series. The fight between Batman and Superman, whilst short, is still entertaining and miles better than the lacklustre fight that was Master Chief V Locke. Wonder Woman also shines as one of the best features of the movie.

However, Lex Luthor is just plain weird, Doomsday resembles more of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle crossed with a cave troll and Superman is pretty dull for the most part and the story is just a mess.

The score is fantastic as one could expect from Junkie XL. The cinematography is stunning and the costume design really captures all of the characters their equipment (I adore the Bat-mobile's design).

TL;DR
Batman and Wonder Woman shine.
Superman is boring
The cinematography and action is stellar
The score is stunning
Prop and costume design is wonderful
Story is a mess
Villains disappoint
Warehouse scene is one of the best superhero action scenes in a movie

Final Score: 6/10

But BVS did bring me in to become a DC fans.

I really loved this film spending so much times in this film to let you understand why peoples hate superman, and Batman give me a feel more like a human, not just a super hero doing good thing for nothing, no, even Batman have a selfish part.

Other films will try to get the bad side of every super hero too but... didn't have much convincing, it sounds like :"Hey this superhero have his weakness in his heart too, and then he will still save the world", other film didn't want to spend more time on explaining the weakness, or explaining how the normal peoples fears.

BVS did that, and this is the film that more of you watching, the more taste you will get.
This is a very great film that didn't deserve so many haters

How do you expect to make a good movie out of this? Also, Zack Synder has yet to introduced the characters properly before even making the trinity appear together in this movie. And, that's not all. Batman kills. This film also spends time showing how the world doesn't appreciate Superman (similar to Man of Steel), which is definitely not the case in the comics, where majority of the world trusts Superman. Another indication that Zack Synder clearly doesn't understand the characters. Next, why Batman stop short of killing Superman because of that 'Martha' scene? Why? It is also a very weak plot tool to stop the 2 heroes from fighting. What's worse? Killing off Superman. There were many comics produced before DC decided to kill off Superman. Zack Synder seriously went too quick with killing off Superman. While I wanted 'The Death of Superman' story arc to be in the DCEU, I didn't expect it to happen this quick. The runtime is also too long. Its 2 and a half hours long and I was literally quite bored in between. There's also only one primary villain who soesn't even have the potential to take on the 3 heroes. Enough! I could go on and on the whole day talking about how trashy this movie is, but I'm sick of reviewing this movie. What's the only good thing about this movie? It's the first movie to show the trinity together. Well actually there's one more. Jesse Eisenberg really played a good Lex Luthor. He is really evil as Lex Luthor and it's sad to see him in such a horrible garbage. Honestly, with that much horrible stuff in this movie, I wonder how the (insert bad word here) fans even like this movie. Perhaps its just crazy DC fanboys who deep down know how horrible this movie is but purposely gave this movie a good rating because they hated on Marvel so much that they wanted the DCEU to beat the MCU, and/or Batman fanboys who thought the movie is good just because Batman beat Superman.

That said, I never lose hope until the director himself decides to give up. Looking forward to the Justice League movie which is coming soon! Hopefully Zack Synder does a better job this time round.
