    Starfield: A Celestial Masterpiece - 10/10

In the ever-expanding pantheon of video games, rarely do we encounter a title that effortlessly coalesces intricate gameplay, breathtaking visuals, and a narrative so deeply captivating that it beckons one's soul into a transcendent odyssey. "Starfield," the magnum opus of Bethesda Game Studios, stands as a testament to the prowess of modern gaming, effortlessly raising the benchmark for future endeavors in this digital realm.

From the moment one embarks upon this cosmic journey, it becomes abundantly clear that "Starfield" isn't merely a game; it is an experience – a sublimation of art and technology, crafted with such meticulous precision that it leaves one utterly flabbergasted. Todd Howard, the visionary director behind this masterpiece, has once again showcased his inimitable genius. He has not just reached for the stars but has firmly grasped them, presenting us with a universe teeming with wonder, riddled with secrets, and brimming with stories that resonate deeply within the human psyche.

The game’s graphical fidelity is nothing short of astonishing. Every celestial body, from the incandescent stars to the most distant galaxies, is rendered with an exquisite attention to detail. The ethereal glow of nebulas, the intricate dance of binary stars, and the vast, undulating landscapes of alien planets are depicted with a verisimilitude that borders on the surreal. It's as if the cosmos itself, in all its vastness and majesty, has been meticulously encapsulated within our screens.

Yet, it's not just the sheer grandiosity of "Starfield" that enthralls; it's the nuanced details. The sonorous hum of your spaceship's engine, the tactile sensation of an alien soil beneath your virtual feet, and the enigmatic whispers of ancient extraterrestrial civilizations - all blend seamlessly to create an unparalleled immersion.

Narratively, "Starfield" is a triumph. The plot unfolds like a grand tapestry, woven with threads of intrigue, emotion, and profound philosophical conundrums. It challenges our perceptions of existence, destiny, and the very nature of reality itself. Such depth and complexity are rarely seen, let alone executed with the finesse demonstrated here.

A paean is also due to Phil Spencer and the indomitable Game Pass. Their unwavering commitment to democratizing gaming, ensuring that masterpieces like "Starfield" are accessible to a broader audience, is truly laudable. The symbiotic relationship between Bethesda and Game Pass has engendered a renaissance in gaming, ushering in an era where artistry, innovation, and inclusivity reign supreme.

In summation, "Starfield" is not just a game; it's a magisterial symphony of pixels and prose. It beckons, entices, and ultimately engulfs players in its cosmic embrace. To Todd Howard, Bethesda, Phil Spencer, and every unsung hero behind this magnum opus, I extend my deepest gratitude. You have not only elevated the medium but have etched an indelible mark upon the annals of gaming history. Bravo!

Exploration is horrendously boring; you land on a barren patch of a world, with mundane points of interest (often space base or meteor landing site, etc), that you have to walk to (for minutes on end). Mass Effect released, what? a decade ago? And knew it required a vehicle. And although exploration in Mass Effect was there it wasn't the main draw of Mass Effect. Starfield pulled us in with dreams of exploration, a No Man's Sky on steroids, it is not.

Combat is mind-numbingly bad. Almost all enemies are human bullet-sponges who require a full clip or thereabouts to bring down. It is the most tired, uninspired combat I've seen in a long time. People compare it to Fallout 4, but again it's like a trimmed down F04. You can't insta-kill enemies with head shots, or use vats. The guns are generic and limited, and most of the enemies are the exact same. FO4 had a wide variety of guns with deep customization and a huge variety of enemies. Starfield is Fallout 4, if FO4 only had: laserguns, rifles, pistols, shotguns (that all do the same damage) and the bandit enemy type. Sure if you venture into the woods you'll find the odd mutated crab, but that would be it. Comparing this game to Fallout 4 is a disservice to Fallout 4.

One of the worst things however are the loading screens. You'll hit one every few minutes, unless you stick to fighting 50 space bandits on some space base, or explore an empty desert of a world.

At one point I came to the realization that I was watching more cutscenes of my ship fly to different worlds than actually flying my ship.

Space combat is ok, but I wouldn't call it the main draw. Since they ripped off No Mans Sky I think many of us expected the travel of No Mans Sky, I would have taken that over space combat any time.

To the weird people creating accounts solely to defend this game, you are doing a disservice to Bethesda as a whole. They need to know how they **** up, they need to see that this game isn't good, and they need to start improving.

The dialogue is also incredibly cringe inducing, facial animations are exclusively raising eyebrows, nothing more. No sense of exploration as this is a loading screen/fast travel simulator hybrid. I have no idea how the UI made it through quality control.
The new lockpicking minigame is the only good innovation Bethesda could come up with in 8 years of development. If you buy this game, you better hope to see classic Bethesta bugs, because that's the only thing that made me smile in my 15 hours wasted on this game.

Sou muito fã dos jogos da Bethesda, mas Starfield me decepcionou muito, tanto na história quanto no combate, não inovando em nada. Além disso, loading em tudo, jogo totalmente capado. Starfield has a boring introduction. You are a miner and walk around for 15 minutes, there’s no tension, no cinematic entrance and no pull to the universe. You do pass out because of a mysterious technology, but I was so bored with walking around it didn’t shock me. Because of this I laughed when Barrett just gives you a ship, after knowing you for 30 seconds. The ship is unfortunately a glorified tent simulation. You can’t fly planet to planet, but you need to go into quite a few menus to fast travel. You can’t even take off into space, that is also a fast travel screen. From all this, I feel like half the game is just loading screens and fast travel. The combat is a regression from Fallout 4, it appears the gun combat is purposely held back so that your skill tree makes it fun. But I’m not giving a dozen hours just to play a gun fight to an acceptable level. I can’t recommend this game, the gun play is boring, the introduction is atrociously boring, the universe never grabs my attention. I can’t get into a game that is just loading screens. Bethesda have followed up with a mediocre game. It shouldn’t have been surprising seeing that they released Redfall this year too. I’ll give it 3 stars because I never ran into any bugs in 3 hours of playing, the graphics are good (facial animations are outdated), and there is quite a lot of work done with the cities and factions. However the procedural generation and fast travel means that I never felt like the universe was joined, unlike the other Bethesda games.

and then the basic story i could play for a very long time, and then the combat on foot is really good, i would like to see a few adjustments in the ship flying ai like that they ram into you with 5 ships and then keep shooting wich is a bit frustrating but nothing to dock to much points from.

odly with the romance there is a bit much left to the imagination by you when you sleep you don't get to actually lay down and sleep but also your companion wil wake up on the same side as you on a two person bed(so kinda like you just laying on top of like sarah and apperrantly have some "fun" let's put it like that).

sadly as of now i haven't really seen any of the base building so i still need to look into that, but Oh My God the ship customisation is so amazing i hope there wil be a full out of save ship building brance so you can build ships fully custom on it's own through the main menu that can be added to saves to buy or to unlock through a mission wich you can redo over and over as a nice loop. note: you need to keep class in ming being a the lowest and c the highest wich you need the full ship flying perk unlocked to be allowed to fly all three, wich is kinda limiting.

all in all i might not have touched on everything but the game is soooooooo big i really recomend going in and play it and not just take my word or other reviewers and especially reviewbomvers for it since about 6 million people are playing it and probably most haven't yet shared their honest opinions.

see you in the starfield everyone!

Yes, lots of loading screens (which you can usually avoid if you use the fast travel correctly) Barren planets, eh, not so much theres still plenty to find and loot on them, there just isn't a civilization or hub for the planet. A good mix of weapons, weapon mods, armour mods etc. NPCs are definitely Bethesda ones, but we all know what thats like. The story and quests are fun, plenty of humour, loads of faction questlines, and even some big questlines from companions or some random woman in a bar that took me on a 6 hour tangent. Not to mention the ship building, great amount of customisation. I did not get spoiled by anything, did not read any hype review, I just wanted to play a good new Bethesda game - since they are so proud of the fact it's the first truly new IP in 25 years, I hoped they'd really deliver on it... since I started playing their games with Morrowind, I had some hopes they'd make it. Sadly they did not.

    TL;DR:
They did a Fallout 76 on their "Space Skyrim" - OR: The Space Skyrim that never was. If you are a fan of Sci-Fi and "Open World" - which works in the strongest sense of the word in this game since the vastness the game simulates is humongous... however it feels almost like an empty shell when you get to explore. Much like No Man's Sky, it only gives the impression of being big and exciting, with great variations. The systems are a chore - even worse than Oblivions "use a Skill 100 times to advance in level" system, this game makes you work for even being able to Sneak, Lockpick and steer bigger space ships. It would all be acceptable if the grind wasn't that downright dull, if the Characters you meet in your first stretch of the journey weren't that kind of empty and one-dimensional-feeling and the Ship / Space mechanics weren't that "Elite Dangerous" kind of level.

This way, you get the worst out of 3 genres and all mashed into one humongous - albeit good-looking on Xbox X, game - on PC better prepare to have a huge graphics card budet that'd buy you two Xbox Series X likely and a year of Game Pass. Maybe that's what Microsoft/Beth wanted? Sell those Xboxes... it might work initially but boy, when the people get to playing this they just might be regretting that decision.

Bethesda seem to really love their "random number generator" engine - it drove many of their Elder Scrolls and the new Fallouts to new heights - but back then these games had a Soul infused in form of a major storyline, exciting characters to meet all across the Wastes or the vast action-filled mysterious world of Tamriel.

If they have the "whole of eternity" to work with, it seems the previous ingenuity of Bethesda seems to get dulled and stretched too far. This game has an inkling of the brilliance that was the first 5 hours of most any Elder Scrolls Game or Fallouts 3, New Vegas and 4 - but once the vacuum of Space sucks at your brain when you realize the first 5 hours of this Megahyped Game do not reach the old heights but are a downright borefest it's a bit sad.

The frame rates are incredibly bad and this to me is simply unacceptable. The limitations of the engine are obvious and ruining the experience of what could have been a wonderful game.

The models of the in-game characters look like they came from a game made in the 2010s.

The worst part still remains the frame-rate issues especially during space battles where you would need to manoeuvre around obstacles and target enemy spaceships. Spinning the camera with these frame-rates simply disconnects you from the entire experience.

Oh, yeah, get ready for massive amounts of loading times…

That’s all I can say about this game - avoid it, unless you would like a comix-like experience on what could have been the RPG of this gen consoles.

It was bad, but overall the game is legendary and I advise everyone to play it Expand

Un gioco che sembra vecchio di 10 anni con un IA IMBARAZZANTE, caricamenti continui che spezzano l'esplorazione, un sacco di pianeti VUOTI e con missioni ripetute ed avamposti tutti uguali fra loro..

Ah, Starfail: a 5/10 masterpiece if there ever was one. A game that had the audacity to be anticipated for years, promising to be "Skyrim in Space." Let's all take a moment to laugh at that tagline. Bethesda's classics like ES5 and the Fallout series? Those were playgrounds of imagination, richly detailed worlds with tons to do and see. But this? This is like Bethesda forgot what made them great in the first place.

Remember how they hyped up these procedurally generated worlds? What a joke. You'd have a better time running laps in your backyard than traversing these barren, copy-pasted landscapes. It's cardio training, the game. But hey, don't worry, you'll be well-acquainted with the loading screens that pop up every time you so much as sneeze. Enter ship, loading screen. Sit down, loading screen. Take off, oh look, another loading screen. The game practically doubles as a slideshow.

And let's chat about the main quest for a second. If your idea of fun is a never-ending series of fetch quests, boy, are you in for a treat! Invested time building an outpost and a decent ship? Well, pat yourself on the back, you've just wasted hours for an ending that couldn't be more uninspired if it tried. Remember the multiple-choice endings in Fallout 4? Yeah, none of that here. It's like they dangled a carrot of choice in front of us, only to yank it away and replace it with a stick.

The facial animations make you wonder if they're all just animatronics gone wrong, and the AI is so bad it makes a Roomba look like a tactical genius. Ship combat? A glorified exercise in tedium. I've seen indie games from seven years ago that offer better exploration experiences than this heap of disappointment.

And let's not even start on the performance issues. Crashes within the first 10 minutes? Check. Frame rates that give you a headache? Double check. And for the love of gaming, why are we still dealing with 30 FPS on next-gen consoles? I didn't invest in a powerful console to play something that looks like it belongs on the Xbox 360.

The visuals? Dated doesn't begin to describe it. The game feels so last-gen, you'll wonder if you accidentally fired up an old console. And don't even get me started on the pronoun drama. It's unnecessary, sure, but honestly, that's the least of this game's sins.

The one saving grace? It's on Game Pass. Spend $10, realize it's garbage, and then go play one of the 400 other, better games you could be enjoying. I actually bought this travesty and managed to get a refund—consider that a public service announcement. Just save yourself the time and money: skip Starfail

Combat is top notch. Is it flawless, no but no game is. The pros far outweigh the negs.

Played a ton of bethesda games skyrim is my fav, maybe 100 updates later this will be good but the gameplay is boring and far to easy the loading screens and copy paste planets make the game feel slow and rudendent and it's overall a very unpleasant time beside the ship crafting and the story way to casual they gave it the ow2 treatment...

It's a big game, but starts way too slowly, and may never get interesting.

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
