The immensity of this game has completely enthralled me like nothing else. Holding an entire new universe in the palm of my hand is truly breathtaking. With countless stories and narratives to explore, this isn't merely a game; it's an absolute must-have experience. It's important to note that many of the reviews here seem to be misleading and may be intended to harm the overall rating.

Yes, the pacing is slow and the narrative can be pretty generic, but the game possesses its own unique charm. It feels like playing a complex RPG from the early 2000s, but supercharged with numerous variable choices, updated graphics, and a geeky portrayal of space exploration.

If you're searching for a non-stop, action-packed sci-fi RPG like Mass Effect, I have bad news—Starfield isn't even close to the pacing of ME2. You'd be better off looking elsewhere. However, if you're tired of relentless action and want to immerse yourself in a more realistically "dull" space exploration experience—complete with resource grinding, outpost management, item crafting, and occasional shooter elements—then this game is for you.

As of now, Starfield is the only game from Bethesda that has kept me engaged for more than 20 hours. So, if you're not looking for an epic "chosen-to-save-the-galaxy" sci-fi adventure, but something that grabs your attention in a different way, Starfield is definitely worth a try.

Seemingly created by neckbeards who (when not creating Microsoft Office products) enjoy nothing better than a night in sifting through surplus inventory menus and load screens. It’s not ‘Skyrim in Space’, it’s ‘ Death by Menu’.

I feel like I've barely scratched the surface when I see where others are at lol Was able to hijack a spacer coyote, something I'd recommend for early game! Graphics are good, so far no bugs on my end besides freezing while I stream, but that's most likely my internet. NPCs are as corny as ever lol There is very little in regards to tutorials, but if you've played fallout you can figure things out. If you haven't olayed fallout, you might want to look into outside resources for help on research, crafting, xp, and skill points. The game really is a breath of fresh air, when compared to so many games that have come out in the last few years it's nice to go back to a single player you can really grind our and make your own. I do wish, however, that there was an online co-op mode to hang with friends. Expand

So I've played starfield already for quite alot of hours my playthrough is on very hard which at times can be challenging but not imossible and I first want to mention I've never ever really liked any space games prior to this so getting invested in a game like starfield was always a risk for me.

I actually really like this game though its got alot to the game and the game as a whole
So I've played starfield already for quite alot of hours my playthrough is on very hard which at times can be challenging but not imossible and I first want to mention I've never ever really liked any space games prior to this so getting invested in a game like starfield was always a risk for me.

I actually really like this game though its got alot to the game and the game as a whole feels gigantic something I've always wanted from a game was longevity and not to complete a game in under 2 hours and feel like £60 is down the drain and I'm not forced to rush through the game unlike some of the actual reviewers who probably just did the main story missions and based their reviews off of that.

This game seems very familiar to fallout and I've not really played fallout as much as some people but I think what Bethesda does with games is very unique and should be appreciated more.

I like the shooting mechanics in this game for some reason to me it feels better than fallouts shooting mechanics minus not having vats in this game which was very unique to fallout I just felt off with the mechanics in fallout for some reason it felt really sluggish in that game.

The ship building is probably one of the most interesting things I've seen in a game and I've not done much of it but from what I can see it looks very advanced and there's certainly gonna be alot of great ship designs out there.

I love the exploration in this game you can always find something new no matter where you're it seems and the idea of doing research on planets to give you an idea where certain resources are for all the planets is very well thought out and wow its gonna take a very long time time to search for everything.

People moan about frame rate in this game yet here's me playing on my series x having a blast, once your eyes get used to the fps it becomes an afterthought like it doesn't exist plus single player games don't necessarily need to be 60fps or above that in my opinion should be for multiplayer games that demands those kinds of frames to make multiplayer consistent.

My biggest concerns with this game is the map navigation/design it feels really just hard work at times just to figure out certain things and the local map is pretty embarrassing aswell honestly. Bethesda should probably consider adding a different section of all the planets you've discovered from A-Z so it makes it alot easier to revisit those planets.

Also a few times enemies have glitched through walls trying to shoot me though the wall its quite funny at first buy probably something that should be fixed.

If you liked any of the fallout games then I'd most likely say you'd like this game too, for me I didn't really have any expectations for this game considering like I said previously I could never get into space games but from what I've played I know I'm still gonna be on this game for alot longer than I thought I think it's a great game minus the few glitches that do happen and the graphics are good aswell.

I seriously can't believe Bethesda has failed their main fortes: Exploration , freedom, feeling alone, getting lost in the world... These were the most consistent features of the Bethesda titles, even though they got streamlined in time. I don't care and mind loading screens, graphics, poor combat etc. I am not a big Fallout fan but I have played and am still playing from Daggerfall to Skyrim only with only bug patches and QoL & UI mods... I really wish this was "Skyrim but in space" "Fallout but in space"... It would be more than mediocre at best if that was correct.

Starfield... Thousands of worlds within vast space... For a fish in an aquarium perhaps. I really hope TES VI will never come. Their EA way of selling early access and a "promised" upcoming DLC is pathetic as well.

Overall, To cut straight to the chase, I think Starfield overall is a really good game, most definitely I feel that is one of the stronger Bethesda and Xbox Releases as a whole.

First and foremost, I do believe that there is a vast sandbox here to be able to roleplay and enjoy, I personally played a Cowboy Space ranger, Focusing on ship building and gun focus tree. The new skill tree mechanic works really well, allowing once again a platform to roleplay, if I base my character around jetpack and revolver like I did, my skills in use get better, its much more fleshed out skyrim/oblivion skill tree set where doing the action tied to the skill levels, that skill but on a much larger scale. The ship building is really cool, its fun to build you ship, though costly, at later game it becomes much more accessible. I just enjoyed building my ship, fast traveling to space and then looking out into space out port hole i placed into my design. however building ships can be junkie and takes a little time to get used to. Now some issues that i found in the game.

First of all, I think the story is kind of boring until mid story, where it does start to pick up,
Fast traveling but I have to say, this game has some of the best factions in any bethesda game period, not to mention the vast amount of quests and things to do. Recently I played through this one quest, where I was sneaking around a research facility with this monster thing chasing me and I had to use stealth, a lot of approached to different quests and a lot of ways to build out your character and roleplay. This isn't a traditional bethesda RPG in the sense of the world, The different planets you land on, host a plethora of hand made or in most cases procedurally generated chunks, which are quite large, but in some cases quite empty. Though, as someone who has been following Starfield up to release, it was made quite clear by Bethesda that, it would be the case and I feel like overall its not as big of an issue as people make it out to be in the grand scheme of things. However one mechanic i have been messing around with but just don't like is settlements. Likely they are 100% optional, the controls for building are clunky and not much ever gets explained, I been looking at guides to figure out things like Cargo links. Though, I will go back to the settlement mode as I really enjoyed it in Fallout 4.

I ran Starfield on the Series S. I have to say I am generally satisfied with performance, I did encounter a few significant frame drops in some of the cities. But overall, Frames have been consistent. In terms of bugs, I haven't really experienced many bugs, Only one i can remember off the top of my head, was when the camera got stuck when going up a ladder. However I have noticed the game likes to crash from time to time, when loading in new areas, but these crashes are few and far in between.

Overall in the 30+ hours I have been playing the game, I have enjoyed myself a lot. I feel that there is a lot of foundational work that was laid here for future bethesda games. I thinks its a game everyone should try out at least once, but does not constitute an immediate buy. if you have some money to pick up game pass and give it a try. It will be worth it. I will definitely go back to the game ever few years like I do with Skyrim and Metal Gear series.

Anyways now I got that out of the way, I have played Bethesda title since the launch of morrowind. I’m a big fan of their games, starfield is the best game they have created and right up there with their other titles like Skyrim, fallout NV, and Morrowind. Bethesda tried something totally different and alien to them, the story is prob the best story line in a Bethesda game, the side quest also feel like the main story. Role playing potential in this game is massive, mods for this game will make this game even better down the road. Starfield has its problems, and it’s mainly because of their creation engine limiting much of what they can realistically do (landing and flying without loading screen and full open space flight) this is pretty much the only big down side. But that negitive can easily be overlooked if u love their other titles, you will have fun with this game. It’s a good time. The graphics are really good for what their engine can handle, it’s not very buggy either besides the usual Bethesda bugs that are usually hilarious. Don’t listen to the smooth brain 1 star reviews, that is ridiculous and just untrue. Only reason I gave it a 10 is to often the review bombing, I realistically give it a 9.4. If you are a Bethesda fan, u will love this one.

Look, Starfield is not a perfect game. No game is perfect. But for all you mouthbreathers who come here just to review, bomb it, go **** yourself. You are arguably the worst aspect of the gaming community. You have no valid criticisms or insights. You are all just a bunch of ****ing babies who have to be harmful because it makes you think you are cool.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It’s not perfect but it’s damn near close. This is the latest Bethesda game using their tried and true formula. This brings all the openness we have come to expect from Bethesda games like Oblivion and Fallout but set in their largest universe to date. I’m 40 hrs in and I’m more excited to play than before release. The story is captivating, the characters are memorable, the graphics are dazzling and most importantly the game is so much fun to play. If you’re a fan of Bethesda games like myself then you’re in for treat. The game has side missions with more depth than other games main narrative. The ship building, outpost management, character creation, sheer amount of exploration and new game plus mode ensures this is game will be played for a very long time to come. Expand

I started to see some reviews of the game and many commented on the complexity of the game and the freedom to play the way you choose. These factors, which were often indicated as something negative, hit me right in the nostalgia of playing Skyrim without knowing English and discovering the game's mechanics, story and secrets.

On September 5th, the title arrived on Game Pass. After wasting a few hours in the character editor (as I always do) I started playing and after a few simple combat tutorials and an introduction to the story, I began to understand what the Starfield universe was all about and how the gameplay worked. Everything I'd come to expect from Bethesda was there, for better or for worse, with the exception of the combat, which is now much more fluid than previous titles. The exploration factor is also present and frankly, I still can't understand the criticism on this point. The amount of loading is a little off the charts, but it didn't get in the way of my experience after about 20 hours of play and I'm really enjoying the title.

The graphics aren't the best, the PT-BR dubbing is lacking and the AI is up to Bethesda's standard (if you know what I mean), but it's a worthwhile title!

If you're a big fan of RPGs and the more down-to-earth space theme, looking for a big, immersive title with interesting missions (main and secondary), Starfield probably won't let you down!

Enemy AI is good and this is really the most polished BGS Game ever. Played this on both series S and PC and no bugs yet. About 30 hours in and loving my experience! I cannot stop playing. Yes, the game lacks the No Man Sky space exploration and the seemless function of flying to and from planets. It is underwhelming that this was not a player feature provided. Honestly, I do not see anyone flying to and from planets they are revisiting and this is where the fast travel works. It just would have been great to have the option. Facial animations are not bad at all and are sometimes even as good as Cyberpunk 2077. However, there are those which come off as robotic. Furthermore, the stink eye NPC's showed off all online are merely the NPC's that fill up the world's pollution, you would not be interacting with them at all and does not break immersion. Stop being fooled by the hate train from console warriors! The lack of a functioning map with icons for a simple thing as a vendor to pinpoint and find my way would have been great. The game pushes and encourages exploration but at the same time limits it. The lack of a land vehicle or land rover/mech to at least accompany you to locations would have been great especially when you become encumbered by loot. And you will pick up so MANY things! Then we have the empty procedural planets, I feel like these are meant for modders. I think many people forget that Todd Howard confirmed that only 10% of the 1000 planets would have life and interesting things. I do not see myself exploring all these though there could be many mysteries the developers put out there...its just a matter of finding them.
Lastly, wish there was XP points for completing the skill tree challenges.

Other than that, space combat and ship customization is epic! You could lose yourself here. All in all a solid showing from Bethesda and a very fun game to play. As it stands a solid 8.5 for me! Looking forward to expansions and DLC!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game isn’t bad, it sure starts off slow, like boringly slow to the point where i was considering closing the game. But then it picked up and writhing like a mission it went from being too boring and bleak to be actually really fun. I have to admit, starfield fails to keep me at the edge of my seat but at the times where i am, it’s actually amazing. The first mission for the UC (space police) literally threw me into a horror film that I genuinely loved. Having that said the game play is good. It’s not amazing but it’s something i like playing. On the other hand. Starfield does have a few faults. For example the lack of vehicles to move is atrocious. I could literally be walking for a full 5 minutes to reach an area just to decide i want to go back. I don't understand why this wasn't added in, it defiantly should be in a later patch or dlc. As for the guns and ammo drops it’s kind of annoying but still ok. Overall this a good game and i definitely recommend it for players with game pass. While others that don’t have game pass, i recommend waiting. Because the game at times make me feel it’s worth it, and times i feel like it’s not. That’s why in my opinion id give it a 7-8 because although it’s good it doesn’t compete with other first party games from other studios or companies. Because at the end of the day you have to weigh the different options out it’s not the same but it is good. I’m still not done with the game. Once I’m done with the game ill be sure to add another post game review. Expand

I mean I bought an Xbox specifically for this game, as my laptop would've never been able to run it. So with that being said, when I sat down to play Starfield for the first time I was hooked. Hours went by and a question started spinning in my head. "Am I playing a completely different game from the reviewers". There are a few things I wish they would have done differently, like - having a map, at least in the major cities/ buildings/ships, and so on. Fewer planets, which would have been more intricate and filled with environmental storytelling would have been better in my eyes..and some other minor things like fewer loading screens. But it doesn't seem fair to complain and to be nit-picky as if we were owed something. The game is one of the best games of all time and it's free on "Game Pass", which is mind-blowing. Bethesda will keep doing what Bethesda does, and nobody in my eyes, can do what Bethesda does. Their games are the deepest games I've played and I appreciate them for that. I can talk for hours about all the great systems in Starfield, or about how great the characters are voiced, or how the music is almost as good as in Skyrim. I can't stress enough how important it is to be able to immerse yourself in this game. Give this game a chance! Don't listen to the negative reviews, or better yet, listen to them, go in with low expectations, like I did, and prepare to be amazed. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros: Ship customizations, some ability and weapons customizations, Decent graphics, 3rd person view is good, minimal bugs

    Cons:
-Story takes long to catch up and nothing memorable for a AAA title.
-Graphics are not at the level of a AAA current gen title honestly. Some models look good but facial expressions, hair, vegetation, and others look 100% last gen. Its really a last gen game. Must be an old game engine that hasn't been updated enough to use modern techniques and hardware.
-Because of last point, the loading times suck on the Series X. They're not taking advantage of the disk throughput of the system.
-In light of last point, Space travel is immersion breaking and not memorable for a AAA currrent gen title. You load into a spaceship, to travel, have to fast travel basically to get into a planet and load into a planet. Its really immersion breaking.
    -Planets are essentially empty spaces.

In summary; they could have made a better game if they focused on creating a few planets(8) that you can actually fly to in real time. Invested more in the story, and updating their game engine to utilize new streaming methods for loading data, amongst other things.

It is highly unrealistic for there to be that many high and that many low scores with only 5% of all scores being mixed. This game is being review bombed for political reasons and fanboy reasons. They are in no way rating the game on its own merit. most have probably not even played the game. These people are pathetic, lost human beings and should be completely ignored here.

Here is the truth, if you love Bethesda games, you will love Starfield and will probably rate this game a 9 or 10 and it will become one of your all time favorites. If Bethesda games or RPGs are not high on your list of favorite games, you will probably rate this game a 7 or 8. If you are a pathetic fanboy, you will rate this game below a 7 no doubt for nefarious reasons. Those who think the story is shallow would likely score pretty low on psychological openness, with no ability for analogical or symbolic reasoning, or the ability to entertain real possibility. Go ahead and test yourself on the big five. I can almost guarantee if you liked this game you will score higher in openness. Its fine to score low on openness, but it means you will likely not appreciate the depth that this game provides.

Bethesda views their fanbase as above average in intelligence. You can see this through reading the high-level discussions taking place all over the web. They keep this high level in mind when making these types of games for their fanbase. Some people may not understand this and feel like the space combat isn't good for example, but yet they chose not to put skill points into thrusters and targeting, not upgrading their ship and so on. They might say the combat is bland, but don't realize that you can play this game in many different ways that range from up close melee combat to zero g space station battles making special use of your booster pack, which also requires the use of skill points.

When I play this game, I am reminded of Morrowind at times, then Fallout, then some absolute newness. For me this game is pore joy! After the period just before the character creation process, I new this was my type of game. After about 8 hours it was my favorite game.

The story does have depth and the more I play, the more I want to play. As a Destiny player, I was relieved at the lack of a daily grind here, although you can play it this way if you choose. This is my favorite game! My previous favorite was Mass Effect 1-3. I kid you not, this is my experience with this game, it is awesome and words can't do it enough justice.

Visuals are mostly a 10 (everyone knows the creation engine isn't great with faces, but some faces are even a 10, it varies).

Audio is a straight 10 (yes, this can be subjective but even if it isn't your genre, it brings great life to this, including its exploratory aspect).

Gameplay is a solid 9.5 (I would give it a 10 if they had either gotten more creative with loading screens such as when docking or found a way to eliminate them entirely). Would I knock the score down to the 4 or a 2 because there are lots of loading? Not at all! it loses 5 points out of 100.

Fun factor 10 (it is very fun and entertaining, I find this game to be a pure joy). I would say it becomes a 10, as there is quite a learning curve and in your first play through, you will not likely figure out how to do everything, but will instead focus on what you have found to enjoy about this game. Some have no interest in crafting at all, but max out their persuasion or some other skills.

I will continue to update this review. For now, I highly recommend this game above any other.

Totally disapointing, almost all NPC's are inmortal unless they are random enemies, you have no real freedom but few choices in certain moments. Space exploration is a joke, they lied about it would be like No man's sky but actually there is not similar at all, even Mass Effect 1 has more space exploration. Main story is too simple.

Boring, repetitive and a filled with game breaking bugs. The game only gets interesting when you complete ng+5, i was hoping this would be the PS killerr, but its only gonna kill the xbox. Thank you Phil Spencer for ruining the xbox and bethesda. The only redeemable thing is that I can re-create my real life crush dreamcastguy as my in-game player

Basura tipica de Bethesda Game Studios. No me sorprende, calidad Xbox pibes.Lo vendian como uno de los mejores juegos de la historia y termino siendo algo completamente generico.

The 360 era provided more content then xbox one and the series consoles. Crazy I rather play older games then anything releasing now

As the game looks nice and the story has been great so far, inventory management is horrible. Not only that bugs, Bethesda has always presented games always in this state. The game is not what they promise, millions of worlds to explore…

I have put 37 hours in and this game is my current game of the year. The value for $70 or $17 with gamepass is insane.

Muitas promessas não entregues pela Bethesda, exploração espacial, prometeu um jogo super polido, prometeu uma campanha com 50 horas, e eu terminei com 12 horas, enfim, me senti lesado, não recomendo.

This game is amazing. It improves in every single way the familiar Bethesda formula that has made their previous games a hit.
After a few hours of getting the ropes, you open the galaxy map and you are faced with the gigantic task in front of you.

    This game is gigantic!
There's a bit of everything! Medical stations in space, cyberpunk cities, minining colonies underground, strange life in strange planets, outposts and ship building and an infinite number of quests.
Do you wanna hunt alien predators in far away planets? Or do you prefer to be an Uber space driver?
Wanna join pirates and wrek havok in the the asteroid belt? Or do you prefer to clean outer space from the pirate scum?
You can always jump to one of the main cities and just have a coffee while watching ships arrive at the dock.
I assure you, despite the millions playing, no two playthroughs will be the same!
Now let me go back to my ship, I have a delivery to make to the red mile and perhabs I'll run it again and make a few credits. I need money to upgrade my ship!

Unfortunately, the graphics of the game are very bad and the artificial intelligence is terrible. The game remains old in every sense.

I wanted to like this game I really did, but as a bethesda fan I feel like I've been lied to and sold on a lot of features by bethesda themselves that is not present in the game on launch. I hope they do better with the elder scrolls VI because if they mess that one up to then I will be done with Bethesda.

It's a big game, but starts way too slowly, and may never get interesting.

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
