I’m 40 hours into the game now, i have completed all levels with an S rank, collected coins and the red coins, completed all side quests, all main quests, collected every fish with big the cat, maxed my stats and solved every puzzle, collected every memory fragment and the true ending.. and yet, I’m not sure how to rate this game. I think it’s the best sonic game made to be honest, but it does give me pains in saying that because i have so much love for some of the levels in sonic adventure. There’s a different feel because there isn’t a hub world to this game or anything that makes it specifically memorable such as tails workshop, but part of that is because throughout the entire game you are experiencing new mechanics, new enemies, and new bosses back-to-back. Mini games for me, I love. Sonic should be a playground, and that’s kind of what this entire game feels like.

    The whole early thousands casino look at things is what sonic is to me, and they have a lot of throwbacks to previous games. It took me a couple hours to get used to the new control scheme and physics but once I figured it out I’ve found that I can move myself freely however i want, generally by using a drop dash to stop momentum or side step to reposition myself, getting used to using the boost for positioning opposed to skipping everything.

    I love how this game feels, i love the minigames, fishing is a nice addition and the constant change of pace in the game is welcome.

    However, I do feel like I’m progressing alone still unlike in sonic adventure i felt like i was progressing with the other characters, though that may be intentional.

    And it’s hard to grow comfort in the zones because of How large they are and with the art style growing accustomed to learning how to identify specific areas.

    Generally, in most games you can recognize where you are because you see something iconic from previous games, but this Game is completely fresh with all new setting and theme completely while also not being a linear course like other platformers or even RPG’s

    I want to give it a 10 / 10 because i can’t put it down and I’m going to even replay it on hard.

    But I think I’d give it a 9 / 10 because there are hiccups, camera issues and occasional wall clipping. Though in my opinion the soundtrack alone is worth it and the bugs don’t happen that frequently. Throughout my play through I had only encountered one game breaking bug and that was the ghost boss when it attached to a tower, I destroyed the tower too fast so he just stood there and killed me slowly while I watched. Technically one other bug ( hey devs this is not game breaking but It is very misleading and frustrating once you find out ) after defeating the boss in chaos island there is still an island mystery in the zone that will never go away being the lava on the mountain because it’s correlating to when you play pinball.

    If it’s lower, it’s because they are hyper critical of the pop in, which will never affect the game play or because they simply don’t like sonic games. While the pop in is bad, it didn’t take away from the fun of blasting at insane speeds across the land. Or trying to best my speeds in cyber space.

    I think it’s safe to say, the conflict is because it’s very different from anything we’ve experienced from the franchise before while also using props that are familiar to us, in order to get the game to where it needs to be, i don’t think they need to change much of How the game works, i think they need to slowly accustom the player base to a new familiar world and solidify the story they provided towards the end of this game. Sonic has always been episodic whereas this feels like a new beginning towards the end of the game. Leaving me wanting for more.

    This Sonic is the right direction, but growing pains are there and it makes sense why they are there. Not only for the developer but also the player.    … Expand

Es un buen juego, simple pero a la vez sólido, muy entretenido buenos jefes pero, peca en no ser bastante repetitivo en casi todos los mundos que visitamos y la creatividad de sus niveles al final del día se ve bastante limitada y pese a ser mundo abierto la verdad no es mucho lo que podamos hacer todo eso junto con varios problemas de Pops, glitches y Bugs y errores de renderisados hace a Sonic Frontiers un buen juego pero no tanto.… Expand

    The game is definitely a step in the right direction for sonic team. While this is a very hot take, I think this might be my favorite sonic game. And is easily one of my favorite games ever. I hope sonic team takes the criticism well and molds an outstanding new game out of this ones flaws.

    A pretty good game, not perfect, but the music is great, and the boss battles are excellent biomes could be a bit more varied though, and the pop-in can be annoying, but the world and exploration are very good story is better than most recent sonic games combat can get repetitive though all in all above average game

    Gameplay extremamente cansativa e faltou muito capricho na construção dos cenários. A jogabilidade é falha em vários momentos e não consegue cativar. Acredito que somente quem é fã da franquia conseguirá de alguma forma ser cativado pelo jogo. Prometia muito mas ao meu ver não entregou a altura da grandeza da franquia, infelizmente.

    Jogo muito aquem da grandeza da franquia. É legal tentar inovar mas derrapa no básico e acaba sendo bastante similar a outros jogos do gênero. Valeu a intenção mas faltaram muitos atributos importantes para se tornar um grande jogo.

    Fácilmente estamos ante el mejor juego de sonic de la última década. El gameplay es divertido y el mundo no se siente vacío, el control podría asemejarse a lo que es la saga de adventure así que para los fanáticos de dicha saga puede gustar.
    En mi opinión los dos puntos fuertes del videojuego son su soundtrack y narrativa Soundtrack: para sorpresa de mucho de regreso a ese estilo rock/    Fácilmente estamos ante el mejor juego de sonic de la última década. El gameplay es divertido y el mundo no se siente vacío, el control podría asemejarse a lo que es la saga de adventure así que para los fanáticos de dicha saga puede gustar.
    En mi opinión los dos puntos fuertes del videojuego son su soundtrack y narrativa Soundtrack: para sorpresa de mucho de regreso a ese estilo rock/ metal de los juegos de antaño del erizo para las batallas de jefe, combinando con temas más tranquilos para el mundo abierto y música eléctronica para los niveles de ciber espacio. En mi opinión el soundtrack está a la altura de lo visto hasta la fecha y algunos temas resaltan y creo que trascenderán para la franquicia, en especial los que son para batallas de jefe.

    En cuantos a la narrativa creo que Ian flyn hizo un excelente trabajo llevando acabo las interacciones entre personajes, para personas que llevamos tiempo en la franquicia las interacciones entre estos se sienten muy naturales y la forma en la que estos se desarrollan durante la trama es más que excelente, se nota que Ian conoce a la perfección a los personajes y también creo que es la mejor representación de ellos en la franquicia (hablando del apartado de los videojuegos) también la historia cuenta con guiños a anteriores aventuras del erizo que a cualquier fan hará saltar de su asiento.

    Y la mejor parte del juego son las batallas de jefe, tanto como su música, gameplay y cinemáticas es lo de lo mejor que se a visto en la franquicia    … Expand

    Hay puntos a resaltar pero fuera de eso una experiencia muy buena.

    This game is so fun - wish they wouldve had more of a focus on physics but that doesnt take away from how the game had me sitting down playing it for hours straight and never a moment where i started to get bored. Cyberspace is also really underrated in my opinion and ive not experienced any bugs. A perfect foundation and an amazing game. I highly recommend you try it..     It is with great pleasure that I say that Sonic is finally back. I haven't loved a Sonic game like I love Frontiers in many years. The game is really, really fun to play and it controls amazingly well. Ian Flynn did an amazing job with the game's story, I love how serious it is. The characters are finally back to being who they were and that applies to Sonic as well, it's something I'veIt is with great pleasure that I say that Sonic is finally back. I haven't loved a Sonic game like I love Frontiers in many years. The game is really, really fun to play and it controls amazingly well. Ian Flynn did an amazing job with the game's story, I love how serious it is. The characters are finally back to being who they were and that applies to Sonic as well, it's something I've wanted in a long time since they have been really poorly portrayed in a while. The game also dives into Sonic lore, which is really cool to see. Now, the game is obviously not perfect and has its flaws, however the good parts definitely make up for them.

    Honestly, Frontiers was a blast to play. It has detroned Sonic 3 & Kuckles as my favorite Sonic game. I hope this sets the future for Sonic games, if they come to be as good as this one then the series will finally get the quality games it deserves    … Expand

    Amazing game! It is super different from the other sonic games but you can feel fresh ideas through the game all the time. The graphics are good and appart of the popping, it looks good.

    The fps mode it’s stable and the story is very interesting for a sonic game

    Sonic Frontiers has become my most favorite Sonic game of them all. The open zones are beautiful and fun to explore. The music for every level and open zone fits nicely and is nice to listen to. The controls can take a little getting used to but after a little while you will have them down pat which leads to the combat.     The best sonic game I have ever played. It's just so much pure fun l! Running around and exploring as sonic just feels amazing, platforming acorss these huge landscapes at blistering speeds, the combat is super fast paced and energetic, the cyberspace levels at their best are as fun as generations and unleashed, the story has been quite good too! Highly recommend it to any sonic fan!

Not to mention the fluid combat, surprisingly packed open world full of platforming challenges to do, and the cyberspace levels which leave some boost formula gameplay for those who prefer that.     -Cyberspace's physics. I quickly got used to it, but ngl it doesn't mean that Sonic controls well. Sonic is moving a lot slower, and it's easily noticeable on levels ripped from older games. Long story short, it just inherited    Sonic Frontiers, in my opinion, best 3D Sonic game. It surely has flaws and is not perfect, but I'd give it a solid 9/10. Let's begin with what I didn't like:

    -Cyberspace's physics. I quickly got used to it, but ngl it doesn't mean that Sonic controls well. Sonic is moving a lot slower, and it's easily noticeable on levels ripped from older games. Long story short, it just inherited most of Forces' physics, and downgraded travel speed a bit.
    -Some characters' animations are quite bizarre and weird, especially during Sonic and Knuckles' dialogues, Sonic mid-air running is goofy ahh etc.
    -Abuse of 2D sections on Chaos Island. They build up like more than 1/2nd of the exploring on this Island, it's so annoying honestly.

    Anything else about this game is near perfection.
    Story, with proper characterization and finally use of Chaos Emeralds. Especially villain is well-written. And you know, Amy doesn't flirt with Sonic every damn second.
    Gameplay in open-zone is also great. Combat, while being not so hard, is actually pretty various and enjoyable. You can't just mash X/square button to beat enemies. Sonic's movement is much better here compared to Cyberspace. Exploring just fits those zones so well, that even usually tedious process of getting collectibles is not so challenging and actually boring unlike in Unleashed. Graphics are incredible, a huge leap from previous generation in terms of everything, like lighting, art-style, some textures, level of details, shaders etc. All this together looks pretty much comparable to AAA games. Bosses are various and challenging, once again, huge leap from previous generation games where they are just mostly chases with some obstacles. OST is not as good relatively sometimes in Sonic's standards, but overall it's still a banger (especially Titans' themes)

    The real mark should be 9/10 (for the clipping). But the blue blur came from nowhere to bring us this amazing game. The open-zone format is definetly the way for Sonic. So I'll give a 10/10 !

    I love it! The world is sooooooo huge. There is a vast world to discover. A lot of things to do. A very intriguing story. I recommend it. I would put a 9.5, because of the pooping, but we don't have that option on metacritic, so I'll put a 10.

    La verdad que un juegazo!
    En el apartado sonoro muy interesante, con un repertorio bastante amplios de temas tanto chill como heavy metal.
    En cuestión gráfica, mucho mejor que Sonic Forces y la verdad que tiene un estilo artístico buenísimo.

    Sure there is popping if you have an open zone game where the protagonist runs at a very high speed. However, this game surprised me. It is so fun and relaxing. Sure it has simple mechanics in some situations, but it keeps the essence clear of what it is Sonic. Hope this is the beginning of something great for the blue hedgehog.

    Hacía años que no se ponía a la venta un Sonic que de verdad me recordase a los Sonic originales, con todo lo bueno que aporta la tecnología y lo bien que han sabido crear un juego divertido, majestuoso y que no puedes dejar de jugar. Una belleza gráfica sin duda, y también sonora gracias a su exquisita banda sonora.

    Así sí Sega.

    Sonic Frontiers is the Mario Galaxy/Breath of the Wild of ingenuity.

    A unique experience which takes a gamble that pays off. So incredibly pleased that this franchise has had a major success and hopefully continues to do so.

    This game is just fun through and through. Its not perfect, but not every game has to be perfect. I cant lie, but alot of games that are objectively better, just lack the soul and fun aspects many flawed games have. As a long time sonic fan this game goes stupid hard, the soundtrack is a 10/10 banger and the boss fights are easily the best in the series

    O jogo é muito bom! É como se fosse uma sopa contendo como ingredientes todos os altos da franquia. Sonic Frontiers mostrou que é uma abordagem a se seguir de agora em diante em futuros games do ouriço.
    O game tem defeitos, principalmente se tratando de bugs gráficos, porém, isso não tira nem um pouco os méritos da Sonic Team. Para mim, um 10/10

    Map design in this game is genius level.
    Frenetic, epic bosses and platform puzzles everywhere.
    It's fun to play mechanically speaking.
    Price tag day one is a little bit pricey (on PS5), but, if can catch it in a deal, don't mind it, just buy it.

    negatives: lots of pop in and it can be jarring. The story is not great and is pretty confusing like a kingdom hearts game. Pros: Huge environment s for sonic to run around. Fun combat with variety in moves and enemies. Well done boss battles. Great platforming throughout the game. Cyber levels are a blast are a nice change of pace from open world. Fishing    I'll keep this short and sweet.

    Epic its just so good the best 3d sonic game it has lots of stuff to do and its just fun you can explore the 5 cool islands and play cyberspace and do little puzzles collect kocos and also some othe cool stuff heck you can even go fishing in this game and dont get me started on the boss fight you gotta try it and the combat system was good too so in conclusion sonic is back

    Sonic Frontiers is one of the best games I have ever played. I mean even now I’m sitting and thinking about the different combos I can try and pull off in the game. I love this game and I hope Sonic Team will refine the open zone mechanic in the future games.

It's an open fast paced and addictive. The combat is spectacularly flashy as you'd expect from the blue blur and the movement is snappy and consistent. The boss fights are visual marvels backed by intenseSonic Frontiers is the definition of "good sonic game" not only does the game succeed in providing a hooking formula for the next few games it also redefines what a good sonic game is. It's an open fast paced and addictive. The combat is spectacularly flashy as you'd expect from the blue blur and the movement is snappy and consistent. The boss fights are visual marvels backed by intense amazingly preformed metal and scremo real s. The story itself is the best from a sonic game and without spoiling it the final boss feels rewarding and satisfying to beat. Again this is an amazing sonic game one of if not the best, but most suprising of all it is a generally good game a feat not many sonic games accomplish. I loved my entire 30 hour playthrough of this game, I've collected all trophies yet I still find myself coming back. All i hope now is Sega can give the devs the time they need since this game proved it works when you give the devs what they need. To finish this off I'd like to say that personally frontiers is my favorite game of 2022, even after hundreds of hours in elden ring and even more time spent killing zombies in dying light 2 sonic still somehow managed to speed his way into my favorite title from this year.… Expand

    There is nothing remotely redeeming about this game. Nothing that even the most die-hard loyal Sonic Fans would or should advocate for. I hope that one day someone who cares enough about this franchise could give us something-anything of substance. A fan can hope, can’t they? A fan can hope.

    Finally, after almost 25years of half measures and mostly mediocre titles, Sonic has finally reached the 3D levels of gameplay it needed to reach. Yes, the pop in is absolutely inexcusable and the ancient gatekeeping grindy methods damage the flow of the game for no reason, but a wonderfully built base exists here, with a highly entertaining adventure in wonderfully melancholic world and a surprisingly well founded story, thankfully clean of Sonic’s annoying 3rd tier friends!
