    One of the best sonic game in years, only gripes are the ending and cyberspace tends to be inconsistent in quality, however the open zone is amazing and should be used as a concept for future games.

    El juego es muy bueno, claro con sus defectos como cualquier juego pero sinceramente es más de lo que esperaba ya que la verdad no esperaba demasiado, ya que como muchos saben la saga de Sonic es como una montaña rusa, puede traerte juegos muy buenos y luego muy malos y siendo sincero no creí que fuera a ser un juego muy bueno ya que seguí muy desconfiado con sega después de lo de forces.El juego es muy bueno, claro con sus defectos como cualquier juego pero sinceramente es más de lo que esperaba ya que la verdad no esperaba demasiado, ya que como muchos saben la saga de Sonic es como una montaña rusa, puede traerte juegos muy buenos y luego muy malos y siendo sincero no creí que fuera a ser un juego muy bueno ya que seguí muy desconfiado con sega después de lo de forces. Pero al probarlo al principio duras un rato en acostumbrarte a los nuevos controles de Sonic (obvio si has jugado los de la era boost notaras un gran cambio en los controles) pero no son malos, al contrario son muy buenos y cómodos tanto que al pasar el rato no te incomodan en ningún momento y son muy disfrutables. Y bueno ahora hablando de lo malo, para empezar el juego tiene varios errores como la cámara, que si puedes ajustarla a tu gustó pero siendo sinceros no es una cámara muy cómoda ya que te puede hacer fallar y perder tiempo varias veces, el pop in tambien es otro problema que tiene, no es que sea algo que haga que el juego sea in jugable pero si se alcanza a notar que sufre mucho de eso y hace que el juego no se sienta muy bien optimizado, también otras de las cosas que tiene el juego es que el mundo abierto se siente muy desolado, que si por la trama se entiende que este solo, pero creó que pudieron haber hecho algo mejor con ello y por último de lo malo es que las zonas del ciber espació no son malas lo único que tiene que en lo personal no me gustó es que solo son 4 zonas a las que vamos en todo el juego y siento que es algo en lo que pudieron haber hecho algo mejor. Y ahora de lo bueno, pues el juego tiene muy grandes aciertos como por ejemplo, que la historia del juego es algo que sinceramente está mejor desarrollada y escrita que otros juegos actuales de sonic también que la jugabilidad cómo dije al principio es cómoda, no perfecta pero si es cómodo y jugable otras cosas que también tiene de bueno es su duración ya que los juegos anteriores como colores, generations y forces no te duraban más que unas 3 horas en la historia en cambio Frontiers si tiene una duración muy respetable de unas 6 o 8 horas, dependiendo de que tanto jueges claro. Y algo que no puedo dejar pasar por alto es... Su soundtrack, y es que el soundtrack es algo que la saga de sonic jamás decepciona y está no es la ocasión, teniendo muchos temazos que a muchos les encantarán.
    Y bueno creo que eso es todo lo que les puedo decir sobre el juego la verdad el juego cumple y mucho, el juego merece que le den una oportunidad, no será perfecto pero valla que es un gran juego y más teniendo en cuenta los juegos anteriores de esta franquicia y la reputación que ha tenido en los últimos tiempos. Si estabas pensando en comprar el juego y no sabías si hacerlo, hazlo se que no te arrepentirás de ello.    … Expand

    As a long time Sonic fan, I think this game do a lot of things right. Great even. It's super fun just to collect medals and free your pals. Control is tight, music is superb, cyberspace levels are mostly good. Story, narrative and cinematography are way ahead any other Sonic game period. Performance is solid (60fps). Boss fights are awesome. They really are! But at end Sonic Frontiers isAs a long time Sonic fan, I think this game do a lot of things right. Great even.     The problems with this game to me are more personal but I think this might be the best Sonic game ever. The gameplay is great the open zone is fun to explore the combat is awesome. The story is great. Ian Flynn is a legend. My problem is that the islands have these things that fly around the map. Like the squid in The first island.     Sonic's new world is incredibly spectacular, the art reminds me of Phantasy Star New Genesis 2, excellent gameplay, fluid and fun gameplay, another good work by Sega

    Story is a little out there but it has the same energy as the past games did. Love the dialogue, characters are like their past selves again and the game is fun and exciting to explore and fight in! A great sfep for ghe sonicseries

    Overall this is a very good Sonic game, the best since Unleashed and Generations, Sonic controls AWESOME in the open zones, I also love the DropDash incorporation ( The best feeling of being in control of the character of all the games in the franchise ) and it’s very satisfying upgrading Sonic stats, the combat is really good, the exploration, and I love that the game let you change SonicOverall this is a very good Sonic game, the best since Unleashed and Generations, Sonic controls AWESOME in the open zones, I also love the DropDash incorporation ( The best feeling of being in control of the character of all the games in the franchise ) and it’s very satisfying upgrading Sonic stats, the combat is really good, the exploration, and I love that the game let you change Sonic acceleration, turning speed, boost speed, and more, I love the customization in that way, the story of this game is really really good, Ian is the best, the only thing that I don’t like it’s the reused assets from cyberspace, Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and Sky Santuary, and the physics in the Cyberspace levels, I’m loving this new generation of Sonic games!… Expand

    Easy 9/10. Peak sonic. I as a sonic unleashed fan can easily say this is my new 2nd favourite sonic game. Its just so fun!!! It controls well in both cyberspace and the open-zone, has a good and interesting story, a lot of mystery and things to do, not to forget the bossfights that are easily the best in the franchise. The music is all great too.

    Sonic is the best he has ever been. Open zones are a ton of fun to explore and the minibosses are very satisfying to defeat. The titan bosses are the best bosses have ever been in the series. Cyberspace levels, although have a tad bit of jank, are mostly well designed and fun to master in speedruns

    This game is **** hype. God, I feel the adrenaline in the super sonic boss fights, really gives the same energy as a SPRITE fight and if you know what a SPRITE fight is you know they go WILD. The track hits hard, harder than alot of the previous tracks. Its ultimately a very fun game, and I hope Sega sticks with this fighting formula and finds a way to give other character's their ownThis game is **** hype.     This is a big step forward for the sonic franchise. I'm glad to see super sonic part of the story again instead of being a digital download. The game is by far my favorite sonic game as I already have tons of hours in this game just exploring and trying to find all of the secrets and what not. I find myself replaying these levels over and over again trying to get all of the objectives done while also setting a great record. The game looks beautiful on basically every thing. If you're worried about getting it on something that can make it look great then just don't use an under powered pc or a nintendo switch. If you just want to enjoy the game though then it's perfectly fine if you get it on the nintendo switch. My roommate has it on his switch and it runs perfectly fine! (it just has a graphical down side). I love fighting all of the giant enemies as the small hedgehog via using all of the awesome new skills the sonic has. The game confuses you and makes you think about how all of these things are happening but as you progress you learn more about the past of the island and about the story. I'm not gonna go in depth with the story (I don't want to put out any spoilers) but overall the game is outstanding and I recommend that any one who likes the game play of sonic games to get this game.     As a 90's die hard Sonic fan through all mediums of the blue hedgehog. My love for sonic started to die with just about everyone in the world, after sonic generations. It faltered many times before but after Generations, Sonic lost what made Sonic... Sonic... Gone was the flair, ambition, and magic that made Sonic seem literally, way past cool.... Originally I chalked it up to just growing out of it by the early 2010's... Hitting 20 I thought meh, Sonic just isnt it. With Lost world and Boom on release making me not even want to get the game, let alone play them. Sonic became childish.... Lifeless... broken... and in 2017 here comes Mania.... WOOOOO a return to form! Well.... on the 2D front.... And I played it to hell. and here comes Forces later that year... Will 3D Sonic come back to Form? Will I return to my childhood, will I feel "Cool" playing it?
    Short answer. NO. Sonic Forces was trash. But I will give it credit for one thing. It made me realize me not liking it, had nothing to do with me not loving Sonic anymore... It had everything to do with Sonic being just again, fundamentally lost. It made me realize I desperately wanted a "good" Sonic game. But yeah, Sega was probably not going to deliver that to us anytime soon...
    In comes 2021 with the Frontiers reveal, to the trailer, something seemed different. It looked like Sega for better or worse was taking a shot, at something outside the plastic box.. And my instinct was to be guarded... but be excited! Through all the press release, and trailers, and demo showcases... I let my self get hype, but knew this might be the nail in the coffin... But there was a chance...

    Playing Frontiers. Playing as Sonic.... FEEEELS like playing Sonic.
    Never have I played a Sonic game and felt like I was Sonic The Hedgehog. Controls are tight, world is huge. You go FAST. Obstacles are fun. Momentum feels good. The world is beautiful. The story is MYSTERIOUS. The soundtrack. Is FANTASTIC. The Cyber space levels are INCREDIBLE.... The Boss fights are UNBELIEVEABLE.

    If you are a Sonic Fan. This is it, you will love this game. The promised land is here. And hopefully Sega continues to build and iron out off of this formula...

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A colossal step in the right direction. Sonic Team finally got their act together and decided to steer Sonic back closer to his roots. The story is much more grounded, the cheesy and corny jokes from past titles are toned down tremendously. The music absolutely slaps, the feeling of speed from just running around the islands and the surprisingly fun and versatile combat moves keep me playing the game. The games atmosphere is very calming and relaxing, with fishing being the calmest. The story is a huge step in the right direction, they’ve established that all past games and the comics are canon. They give Egg-man and Sonic actual characterization in this game, along with the rest of the cast. Overall I’ve really enjoyed this game and was pleasantly surprised by Sonic Team’s efforts. It’s no Unleashed, but it’s better than any past title in the last 10 years.… Expand

    This game is fantastic, 100% favorite Sonic Game competing with adventure and generations, The story is the highlight of the game, sadly I though the game was too short, I wanted more! The last two island were a little bit disappointing but very enjoyable. All of the bosses are insane, the open zone seems empty but is very well made and cyberspace isn’t that bad.     This is easily the best Sonic game in the last 20 years. I'm 6 hours in and can't put it down. Open zone is a winning concept and Sonic Team should be commended for finally nailing the 3d Sonic formula. I'm very surprised this isn't an 80+ with the critics, but don't skip if you're on the fence. It's worth every penny.

    Since the first trailers came out, the negative reviews have not stopped raining, however, when you play Frontiers it is completely different, everything makes sense, it is an incredible experience made with a lot of love for fans of the blue hedgehog. You feel free, there is always something new to discover, it hooks you and you can't stop playing. Definitely the best Sonic 3d in many years.

Sonic and friends finally feel like themselves and talk like actual friends. The combat has a certain level of jank to it but is overall pretty fun, I hope for more moves that really capitalize on Sonics speed next game.     The open world is very fun to explore and is full of things to do. Sonic controls better in 3D than any of the more recent 3D titles. As for cyberspace; the 3D ones are mostly great, the 2D stages are alright. Overall the game is great but the cyberspace stages are a bit uninspired in terms of design and visuals.

    Holy **** This is the best sonic game since at least Sonic Adventure 2. There are extremely high highs and the lows of the game aren't even that bad. Only part I hated was pinball. If sonic generations was a celebration of sonic past, Sonic frontiers is a celebration of his future

    Sega has set a great foundation for what we need in a sonic game, I enjoyed every minute of it not including the final boss which ruined the hype build up from the previous bosses, but i had an overall great experience.

How the world has been portrayed has left me amazed with all the previous games referenced to make it all an official cannon and not a cheesy reference like previous games have done. (even a Sonic Boom reference was mentioned which caught me by surprise, makes me wonder what they will do with that in the next game)

    Only problem with the game was the cyberspace control, and i was going to mention the reuse of previous games for level design but it was KINDA justified from the last island where sage basically mentions that, so I felt like I couldn't really complain as some stages where original, just wish there was more of them.

    But I will just say they better see these user scores over the critics because WE know what we want in a sonic game WE are the ones who know sonic better than anyone else so WE know what makes sonic good.

    This game has one of the best visuals, I ever seen in any video game of this year. I think this was worth the 5 year wait. Sonic Frontiers has the best boss fights such as the fight with the huge titan on Kronos Island and the music was on top, the music is fire. All I can say this game is way better than any Sonic game that was recently released.

    Probably the most addictive, sometimes satisfying, well-balanced gameplay between a dynamic and meditative sequence. The combat is alright, cyberspaces sometimes get boring, the music is one of the most powerful in Sonic franchise, also the same words goes to the bosses, they are so lit and brutal, never have been expected to play THIS kind of Sonic game. Probably didn’t like the sometimes abrupt change of camera to 2D in open zones, boring platforming sections, the feeling of common emptiness, sudden FPS drops and the retail price. Also did not expected the insert of comics characters in the mainline story and the final boss gameplay, it's just awkward. The story narration is finally turned out to be interesting, the characters seems to be more mature and finally started to being like old themselves with the really interesting interactions with each other, but sometimes the main storyline and lore can get very very WTF not in the good way. Well, in general, I can say that the game left an incredibly positive impression about a Sonic game and i really hope that the series will go on in the same direction but with some major improvings on the way.     I new fresh form to play Sonic, the level design is oustanding, a lot of things to do with some beatfull enviroments, the sound track is absloute amazing, some tracks is just in your head for days. The atmosfery is very unique, and the controls are very simple and fast, the combat system is very good and make sense to the high velocity of the Sonic.     Una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido jugando a Sonic. Falta tiempo pero sinceramente creo que es mi favorito de la franquicia, y eso no es decir poco. Ian Flynn hizo un excelente trabajo con la historia, se nota que es una persona que conoce a profundidad el lore y los personajes que está tratando, y espero de todo corazón que se mantenga durante mucho tiempo.

I've wanted something like this for over 14 years at this point i highly recommend this game to everyone this is the beginning of a new era for sonic.

And mania... how original !! Look I would've been cool if the open world was themed on Greenhill and chemical plant, but the linear format with them has gotten so stale...atleast the level design is great right ?ofcourse it is. The cyberspace has got incredible level design. Since it's from other better games. Yeah , I liked unleashed gens and adventure. I don't want to pay money to play them again but worse. The engine control and physics were not designed for these levels. Putting them here will not make your game good because you know once they run out of levels to steal their game would be awful. The combat is not that cool as they'd want it to be you just mash the attack button. You don't really need to do any combos since you level up quickly anyway. And they don't look good. Sonic jumps in the air and throws balls at the enemy- What is this ?? Is this what the character is known for ? The animation is godawful. Voice direction is bad too. The character is now a 40 year old man. I thought he was 15 ? But hey , atleast the dark story pays off. oh my god eggman has a daughter. sonics freinds are completely different. They're so lifeless. They don't move or animate, they're just talking. Reading a script. Why do the animations look straight out of a fangame ? Sonic himself doesn't animate that much and it's not to be neglected for an open world game where he's the only focus. Anyway I'm tired of talking about this game .… Expand

    This game is absolutely amazing and I have wanted a Sonic game like this since Unleashed. The combat is amazing, the music is great, controls are very good on my slider settings and the Story from what I have seen so far seems like it will be one of the greatest Sonic stories. I heavily recommend that you buy this game and the future is looking bright for the Blue Rat.

The story is amazing and the way the characters interact feels so much more in line with how they were supposed to be. The relationship built between Eggman and Sage was the highlight of the game. The animation is also really good this time around. Animation in 3D Sonic games is usually pretty static and involves them just standing around.In here they're so much more alive. They're really bouncy and emotive here. The pop in can be jarring sometimes but it never did anything bad to me. Though it would have been nice if it weren't there at all. It'd make the game look even more amazing. I also wish Sonic weren't as "sticky" here. I feel like he should be launching off of cliffs instead of going "Spider-Hog mode". However, the momentum you can generate to get some airtime is insane. I find myself going 200+ft in the air sometimes and it's amazingly fun. Cyberspace was pretty repetitive but also never got really stale. The reusage of Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and Sky Sanctuary did mess it up a little, but changing up the themes of the levels was enough to keep me in. All in all, the game has its problems, as with all others, but with the whole package, you're definitely getting your money's worth here.… Expand

I love the digital worlds, the combat actually feels kind of nice too. I hope they keep this formula for more sonic games to come. And that they refine some of the elements.     I want sega to continue down this path with sonic, This, is the sonic game I have been waiting for, and I never thought I would say this, but sonic has found it, this, this is it.

I also enjoyed the writing in the game as well, huge step up from the last few sonic games. Dispite the games small flaws it is more than made up for with fun gameplay that will keep you intrigued for hours.

    7/10 is a good score metacritic’s color system just sucks. I’d highly recommend giving this game a shot. A lot like legends Arceus, it still has a long way to go to perfecting its gameplay, but these are really solid grounds to work off of, and it would be a big mistake if Sega didn’t use this game as a blueprint for future games, like they did with Sonic Unleashed before it

    Ahora lo Negativo: El poping es brutal, aunque al final le quitas importancia y te acostumbras, Los minijuegos obligatorios que te cortan la acción algunos son super absurdos y aburridos, Las fases del cyber espacio son horribles, la cámara te empuja y te obliga a seguir el camino, Sonic se vuelve ortopédico como si retrocediésemos en el tiempo a un mal juego. Deberían de haber dejado la cámara libre y mantener la agilidad como en las zonas abiertas. Espero que eso se resuelva en el futuro.     Special mention to the voice talent, Roger    A fantastic entry into the Sonic series, genuinely SEGA has made a new game that touches on the potential of this series both the gameplay side and the storytelling side.
    The games writing is fantastic, the optional lore memo's, the characterization, the mystery, it's all executed on a level we haven't seen really since the Adventure Games.
    Special mention to the voice talent, Roger Craig Smith has had a rough time as Sonic with some appalling scripts and a grating Sonic voice, that changes here! The incredible script (Special Thanks to long time Sonic Comic writer Ian Flynn, a godsend) coupled with the new deeper tone of voice works fantastically, this is how Sonic sounds for sure.
    Gameplay wise it's maybe the best we've seen of a 3D sonic game since Sonic Adventure 1, Sonic handles fantastically, there's a learning curve to his movement which informs you that there's a large skill ceiling, although caps on momentum and standardised speed leaves room for improvement, the touches of momentum based play are there and it's fantastic.
    I ran into no bugs or glitches during my PS5 run of the game, but more importantly I never ran into an unfair death, something that plagues many sonic games.
    SET PIECES the Island bosses are incredibly hype, how the game handles Super Sonic is the new standard rather than feeling like some kind of cutaway or minigame you hold onto the skills you have learned during play and have them enhanced for these massive climaxes!
    As ever the music in Sonic is reliably great but it's truly a great OST a mix of the sound directors passions clearly, from melancholy to lo-fi, and a splash of 2000's era rock and metal, it comes together fantastically!
    Sonic Adventure 2 shoes are the cherry on top .
    9/10 quite possibly the best entry into Sonic's catalogue, I don't want to call it a perfect 10 because there's room for improvement but that is no criticism, that room for improvement only exists because of how stand out this game is. Big games with open world will lose me at some point but not sonic. it is fun every second. if you like sonic games, then you MUST buy this. its soooo good! the best part of it that its not only full speed all the time. you can slow down just like mario 64. just walk around and look at the world. and boom, you rethis IS the best 3d sonic game. everything is big and its fun to explore.     Sonic Frontiers is an amazing game with great ideas, but it needs a small bit of fine tuning, but still overall a fantastic time to play through.

This was a great game the spite of all what other critics say in my book it feels like a reminder that the sonic games are still sonic games the story has unbelievably has cared the development of every one of the cast Gameplay was so awesome that I wanted to keep playing ahead again the fishing was very calming And the fighting scenes of all bosses are Top notch They did say that sonic convention 3 was their ticket to inspiration from this game so I'm guessing that everyone should have high hopes when sonic coming back no matter what people would say it's still a great franchise… Expand

    Sonic frontiers is the sonic game that I was waiting for, and Words can’t really describe how good this game is. The open word is fun to explore, the combat is fun and it has a lot of variety, the enemies and bosses are fun to beat, and cyberspace is cool even though they’re re-used stages. There are some flaws in the game, but that’s okay because nothing has to be perfect, so I’m givingSonic frontiers is the sonic game that I was waiting for, and Words can’t really describe how good this game is.     -Sonic acts as he should but without losing his personality, in every sentence (unless the moment is of extreme tension) has his little joke that finally are no longer as they were in forces. but also has that serious touch and concern. -The gameplay couldn't be better, sonic in the platforming moments is no longer as slippery as in previous installments and it    ENGLISH
    GOOD THINGS

    -The gameplay couldn't be better, sonic in the platforming moments is no longer as slippery as in previous installments and it feels really good, the combat is entertaining and I like how it evolves becoming complex little by little.

    -Level design, the open world design is entertaining and effective. Personally the world seems to me a mixture of the one of zelda botw but adapted to sonic and elements of the saga.

    -Story: I haven't finished it but I can tell you that when the moment is serious the characters act according to their personality and not according to the personality of a clown like in forces for example.

    BAD POINTS
    -Popping is present and noticeable, not as much as in the trailers but it's there even with the graphics at MAX. This could be solved with an option to adjust the draw distance.
    -Some textures and a few shadows are weak even on full graphics But this can only be seen in the scenes    … Expand

    The idea and vision of the game is absolutely fabulous. In practice, however, the game is brought down by its execution, which you can see through after a short while and then the game has nothing to surprise you with. [Issue#324]

    There is nothing remotely redeeming about this game. Nothing that even the most die-hard loyal Sonic Fans would or should advocate for. I hope that one day someone who cares enough about this franchise could give us something-anything of substance. A fan can hope, can’t they? A fan can hope.

    Finally, after almost 25years of half measures and mostly mediocre titles, Sonic has finally reached the 3D levels of gameplay it needed to reach. Yes, the pop in is absolutely inexcusable and the ancient gatekeeping grindy methods damage the flow of the game for no reason, but a wonderfully built base exists here, with a highly entertaining adventure in wonderfully melancholic world and a surprisingly well founded story, thankfully clean of Sonic’s annoying 3rd tier friends!
