    Was very hyped when this game was officially announced, but started losing hope in it the more I saw of it. I was still optimistic and hoping for the best, but this game clearly shows that Sonic Team isn't capable of ever making a decent Sonic game.

    The graphics, performance, dialogue, camera controls, enemies, combat, all of these are mediocre at best and absolutely awful at worst.     Sonic frontiers is for sure one of the best games in the series, top 5 at least. It’s got a pretty decent story and a good ending but the only problem is the amount of pop ins, which also doesn’t affect the gameplay at all, it can just be annoying at times. This is the best game in the series since generations, I recommend it. Also the super sonic gameplay is amazing and as always theSonic frontiers is for sure one of the best games in the series, top 5 at least.     The game was fun and ok, nothing great and nothing bad, people are just overhyping it and coping because they experienced over a decade of mediocrity The game had junky physics, glitches, pop in and pop out problems, empty open world, last two islands are supposed to be part of the first island but that got scrapped, not to forget they look lifeless and cringy

    Combat is good but repetitive, cyberspace levels are worse than generations levels, music was good but not the best, final boss fight was a disappointment and lame, story was better than theeta era games but tried to hard to sound deep

The Only Issues I Have With The Game Is For The Story At The End Of The Game And The Secert Final Boss, That In My Opinion Is Whats Holding ThisThis Is The Most Ambitious Sonic Game So Far And It Shows Being An "Open Zone" Experience. Now For The Game Itself The Soundtrack Was Perfection, The Story Excellent, The Gameplay For The Open Zone, Cyberspace, And Super Sonic Fights Was Spot On.     I love this change of gameplay and it was a lot of fun. 5 different islands with a total challenge amused me for hours so that I finished the first island the first time I entered the game! For all the styles of this game, the portals are exactly the same as Sonic Colors and Sonic Generation, which I also liked.

    An excellent start of a new era for Sonic. My only disappointment is how short the main campaign is and that is the only reason I'm not giving it a perfect score. Mechanics, additional playable characters, and boss battles can always be improved if they continue this formula, but as of now, Sonic Frontiers is worth a couple of playthroughs.

    This is such an amazing game, i love the open world and and the little mini adventures it takes you on to collect the memory tokens. The music is obviously perfect since its a sonic game and the titan boss fights is the best super sonic experience we've had in any sonic game. This is such a strong step in the right direction for the future of sonic i hope sonic team keeps up the good work

    The best Sonic game I have played in years! The gameplay was fast paced and mostly fluid, the environments were beautiful and contrasted with Sonic to produce a unique image for the game, and the story was heartwarming.

The camera can freak out at points in both Cyber Space and the islands, certain levels in Cyber Space are very janky, and the ending    The best Sonic game I have played in years!     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A phenomenal Sonic game. (No spoilers) So much to explore, so many enemies to fight, so many collectibles, so much to do! This game finally feels like Sonic as a game franchise evolving. The islands are fun to explore and each have some uniqueness to them in terms of how they were designed. The combat is fast-paced enough and feels enjoyable to use with the combos and Phantom Rush, so I never got tired of it. Sonic himself starts out quite slow, but as you level his speed up, you'll notice just how fast he can traverse around the islands. That was honestly a majority of the fun I had; just blasting around the islands as fast as I could go exploring for memory tokens. Sonic controls amazing as well, although you can customize certain aspects of his movements in the settings.

    The story is the best we've gotten in a Sonic game since Unleashed, by far. Lots of world building, lore explaining, and character building moments that are fun to watch. The humor is MASSIVELY improved as well (not that that's difficult). The collectibles were fun to gather for the most part, I just wish the seeds were more abundant.

    The boss fights were the game's highlight for me. Each Titan is so unique and fun to fight, they felt like what would be final bosses of previous Sonic games. The soundtracks that play during those fights is also exhilarating.

    My main issues with the game and the reason I gave an 8, not a 10, are as follows:
    1. The pop-in for platforms and grind rails is very noticeable. It's especially bad later in the game, the faster you go.
    2. The Fishing minigame is too overpowered (super op once you reach the final island), because sometimes you can level up skills faster by fishing than you can exploring the Islands and defeating foes, which feels very wrong. This is caused by how cheap the items in the fishing shop are. Fishing mostly fine in the first Islands, but for the final island, you are allowed to buy EVERYTHING you need to reach max levels. Fishing should not benefit you more than exploring.
    3. The skill tree. It is VERY easy to max the skill tree, as I had spent all my skill points possible by the end of Ares Island. One you do unlock all your skills, your skill points become nothing other than an ever-increasing number. The skill tree itself is oddly small, with the skills themselves being a little to cheap to purchase.
    4. SPOILERS [My biggest complaint by FAR. The true final boss. By playing in hard mode, and defeating all titans, you then face the game's true final boss. "The End". Wow. It's awful. Instead of facing a final foe that puts ALL of your learned skills and abilities you learned throughout the game to the test, you instead face a space boulder and play a bare-bones top down space-shooter. The same one you only played 3 times prior throughout the entire game. It can be difficult getting the hang of it too, with all the projectiles and the switching light to dark mechanic. So, of course, not a single checkpoint throughout the entire fight. It's not fun. The best part of the true final boss, is when the space shooter stops, and you must do a few QTE's as Super Sonic.]

    Overall, the ending might not be the best, and certain aspects are balanced very well, as a whole Sonic Frontiers is a great Sonic game with lots of enjoyment to be had. I look forward to more Sonic games with open-zone, and I do hope Frontiers get DLC. With a final time of 27 hours, Sonic Frontiers is my second favorite 3D Sonic game.    … Expand

    The best sonic game since generations. Sonic is hard to control at first but once you get going, you get a feel for how to handle him. The music in this game is 10/10. One of the best sound tracks in a sonic game to date

    The game ain't nothing perfect, but as a long time fan, it's nothing but a 10/10 for me, the highs are higher than ever, and the lows are fewer and personally forgivable. There's room for improvement, but that just makes me more excited for the next step, 'cause I absolutely love the direction they are going for. Not only the best Sonic Game in a decade, but it is also one of the bests ofThe game ain't nothing perfect, but as a long time fan, it's nothing but a 10/10 for me, the highs are higher than ever, and the lows are fewer and personally forgivable.     Better storyline than anything we've had since Sonic Unleashed. Writing, lore and characters ultra respected, dialogues without bad joke not funny. Gameplay is perfect, not perfect because it lacks momentum etc... Some camera bugs and clipping but that's it. Ultra giga fun with a preference for the Open-Zone (cyberspace is both better and worse than Colors/Forces). The    Just perfect.

    not 20-30 hours like the developers said it was gonna be, I finished it in 12 hours but it’s still a good length for a sonic game…I’m not complaining maybe they meant for causals…anyways now what did I think of it? First off I loved the open world I loved running around and getting mentally lost in it doing all the challenges and going through all the obstacles, loopty loops, springs and all that though I do get why some people like that I personally love it because that’s what sonics all about is going through all those obstacles and there’s a bunch of then to go through and explore. Now I’m not gonna get into spoilers but the last 2 islands were kinda disappointing and the 3rd island is probly the most annoying it’s just full of 2d sections that you HAVE to go through, you can’t escape from it I lost count on how many times I accidentally gone into a 2d section I already went through being forced to go through it again until I find an escape route, also the cyberspace levels…while they are fun at times the customized controls for the open world doesn’t apply and I honestly don’t get why and due to that controlling sonic is pretty bad he just feels stiff and awkward and SIGNIFICANTLY slower the levels themselves are pretty good but controlling sonic…not so much and I’m also not a fan of sonic stopping when he homing attacks. I LOVE the combat and the skill trees I definitely felt powerful when I used different attack variations and combos especially during the big open world bosses now as for the final boss again no spoilers but it wasn’t as good as I thought it was gonna be it definitely doesn’t surpass dark gaia and surprisingly the first island was the most fun to playthrough and there was definitely quests that I did NOT like but for the most part I enjoyed myself the story wasn’t really “tear jerking” and “emotional and serious” as they hyped it up to be and it’s pretty much what you expect with the “my friends are my power” cliché but it was still a pretty good story and I had a LOT of fun playing this one, overall I give it a 8/10 hopefully one day sega and sonic team will make a game truly amazing that’ll surpass unleashed and adventures 1-2 while that’ll definitely be hard if they continue going this route I think it’s definitely possible, I’m very excited for the future of sonic!… Expand

    A game i could not put down! 24 hours of nonstop exploration, action and charm. The characters are back and reformed into something better. The story serves these characters justice. It’s a good year to be a sonic fan!

    In an age where everything is taken literal, Frontiers takes a steep dive into the symbolic. Through mesmerizing imagery and grandiose music, the director confronts the players with their struggles in faith and understanding. This game goes to show that you don't need to understand a game in order to feel it. And I felt every minute of this one.    … Expand

This game is wonderful, I'm a fan of sonic but I have to admit that the previous hedgehog games lowered the quality but this sonic frontiers has revived the franchise, It's a great game and I like that the characters are being improved since this game is after the sonic forces and we all know that it ruined many of the characters, Well, I have nothing more to say, just that it is a great game and my favorite game of the blue hedgehog

El juego me parece perfecto, tiene una buena narrativa, un combate precioso, y una de las cosas que más me llamaron la atención es que puedes interactuar con Sage desde la primera isla, haciendo que vemos un poco de su personalidad e intenciones, y pues que decir del OST, es simplemente hermoso como en cualquier juego de Sonic Lo Malo del juego es pop in que para muchos es molesto, también tiene algunos bugs pero difícilmente te los encuentras y no son perjudiciales para nada, y otra cosa en lo personal que no me gusto es que en la mayoría de islas las formas de conseguir las esmeraldas son las misma. En conclusión Es un juego a la altura y que revivirá la franquicia de Sonic Y es bueno, pero no lo suficiente para Ganarse el GOTY (talvez nominarlo) pero no ganarlo… Expand

    Great game! had no problems with it for the mostpart! a huge improvement on the last few games and i hope to see more improvements in both gameplay and writing in the future!

    I looooove this game to death oh my god. The open world zone was a good direction to go with, the game is not hard at all but it is so much fun to play and go as fast as possible. The cyberspace are not as bad as people claim them to be in my opinion either.

    Wow!!!! Best 3D Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 1 and 2!!!! It has a gripping and thoughtful story, addicting gameplay, and some of the best music in the video game industry. The boss fights are super epic and fun especially.

    I loved the game, the combination of speed with an open world is a great combination, the only problema i had was with Sonic's Physics on Cyberspace levels, and theres no way to replay the Boss battles unless creatining a New save file, but other than that, the game os Good,

    Graficos, historia, gameplay, combate, tudo é muito bom e lindo, mesmo tendo uns probleminhas aí eu considero esse o melhor jogo de sonic, recomendo demais!!!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game adds a lot of aspects from old games in the franchise, as well ask makes references. One of the best Sonic games in history, if not the best game. The open world allows players to control Sonic to the maximum of his abilities.

    The new combat system allows players to deal lethal combos when facing stronger foes. There isn’t too much platforming as we’ve seen in other modern Sonic games.

    The story carries a strong meaning within it that I believe may go over one’s head if they are not paying too close attention. I have no complaints of this game, and hope the majority of the community can agree.    … Expand

    Sonic Frontiers is a unique experience with the blue hedgehog who feels amazing at the controls and brings innovative new concepts to the saga, Although the performance can be improved , the gameplay is very fun and it is certainly a step forward in a fresh and new direction that It leaves us excited to know what Sonic's next adventures will be like

It should be a hot news item, how much of an achievement it is, and how Sonic Team has finally cracked the code to an incredible Sonic game.

    The Sonic stuff is the best I’ve played; the controls are tight, the speed is fast and fun, the open world and the cyberspace levels are excellent. It’s “Breath of the Wild” because the open world is fun to explore, and you’re always running into new puzzles and collecting things that make you stronger by increasing your power and speed.

    It’s “Super Mario Odyssey” because you’re always solving little overworld puzzles to get some reward, very similar to the Moons in that game. It’s very rewarding and motivating.

    Critics have criticised the visuals. Again, I don’t know what they’re smoking. Maybe their standards are too high? Not every game has to look like God of War. I think it looks really beautiful and impressive. It’s true that there is pop-in on the overworld rail puzzles, but even this is not nearly as bad as some critics have said. Did they play a pre-patch version that had worse pop-in than the release date version? Because what I played is really not that bad, you can see many rails and platforms far into the distance.

    Some critics have criticised the combat. Again, what on Earth are they smoking? The major bosses, like those in Shadow of the Colossus, are equal parts puzzle and awesome spectacle. They’re freakin’ rad. And the general combat with smaller enemies is so much fun - it’s so deep now, it’s crazy. Sonic has so many cool combat moves (that you unlock through rpg-style progression), and it’s just fun to earn them and toy around with them. The only games with deeper combat are those that are dedicated fighting games, like Devil May Cry - is that what the critics were expecting? And it’s honestly surprisingly not that far off. Yes, I agree that some enemy designs could be more interesting, but there actually are some really cool enemy designs in here already. Anyway, the critics have lost the plot. The game is bloody good. I’d recommend it to anyone for the full asking price.    … Expand

    This is a fresh new take on the series and a big step in the right direction for the future of sonic games. I haven't had this much fun with a sonic game since Sonic Unleashed. Huge props to Ian Flynn for writing such an interesting story as well. If you are a Sonic fan then I highly recommend this game.

    Sonic Frontiers is not perfect, but it's so, so much fun and has made me grin with excitement multiple times already 6 hours in. It's really just such a fun and engaging game, I cannot recommend it enough. "Open Zones" are a fantastic and well executed idea, especially with how perfectly they tied the boss fights into the concept. I really hope this is the future of the Sonic series.

    Sonic hasn’t felt like sonic in a long time, frontiers is a call back from home. It feels like I’m just turning on my Dreamcast for the first time in years and are greeted with a nostalgic feeling and rush to keep playing.Welcome back little buddy!

    This game is for Sonic fans of old generation and new. Sonic feels so refreshing and great to control. This game has great atmosphere, great music, and for once in a long time, a good story. Sonics character is fleshed out more, side characters are given more of a personality than their typical one note tropes. I greatly enjoy this game.

    To me, Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast will always be top-tier. The gameplay in Frontiers is frustrating at times simply because of all the combinations of attacks and moves. The trainer is okay to learn the attacks but it just throws you in. I died many times battling the island bosses simply because there is no explanation on how to go about the quick-time reactions.

    Another issue is the locked camera, there are times I needed to look at the stages to see if I missed a ring or item. I can't turn around the camera to look back. Plus, batting the bosses also proved difficult because of the camera getting either getting up close to Sonic or so far away you can't see where you are at.

    The stages you go through are all the same type, just different arrangments, all based on stages that have been used in the past (Green Hill, Chemical Planet, Sky Sanctuary, City Escape) All 'nostalgic' levels, nothing original other than the music for those stages.

    I loved previous Sonic titles because it was simple and enjoyable (for the most part). Frontiers could have worked if it was a new franchise maybe, but to take the Sonic franchise (to me) and make it seem more RPG-ish to nearly grind for items for Sonic to gain new abilities and attacks isn't what a Sonic game is about IMO.

    I get that many others love the game. I believe that to be more among the lines of 'Honey Moon' phase, great at first but soon the facts start to settle in once all fan fair dies out, Frontiers will eventually show its flaws. Simply put, Sonic Frontiers is a very complex game for even a veteran Sonic gamer like myself and too complex for its own good.

    The only saving grace in this game is the storyline (thanks in part to Ian Flynn), dialog, and cinematics as I said before.    … Expand

    The story is immersive and I found my sonic, this guy so cool and ready to help his friends no matter what, knuckles tails and Amy are fantastic i feel this link between the characters.

    Now let’s talk about the cyberspace and… Im split.
    We are tired of the same stages: Green Hill Chemical plant and sky sanctuary… okay it’s sonic memories BUT there are A LOT OF levels through the sonic games.
    Like you have: Spagonia, Kingdom Valley, twinkle mountain, jungle (sonic adventure 2 stage) I can’t trust they didn’t think about that.
    The gameplay is weird sonic seems like is so slow you don’t this feeling of soled through the cyberspace.
    The animations is mediocre when sonic is on rails and ****
    But In the same time I liked the cyberspace, I’m a sonic fan and these stages remind me these 3D games like unleashed and generation even if the gameplay isn’t good compared to unleashed/generation.

    Super sonic ? Super sonic oh my god it was one of my favorite part, the titans are amazing and terrifying and versatile. Giganto raven and samouraï was amazing and the freedom for super sonic is amazing too not just boost through the ennemie and that’s all, hell nah you’ll fight the ennemies and find strategies to hit’em up.

    To conclude sonic frontiers was a good game for me, he has his qualities like his defaults but it was really fun and immersive on all points.

Es lo que puedo decir de este juego y vale toda la pena recorrer todas las islas hasta el último rincón, la parte en donde vez a los Titanes antes de treparte a ellos para la última esmeralda de cada isla la vista es excelente, Me encanta en la que tails ya no quiere ser salvado por Sonic a cada rato me encanto el desarrollo del personaje, la escena emotiva de sage cuando la vemos por primera vez como buena y el recuerdo de eggman y la canción me hizo llorar, los acertijos son algo repetitivos pero tienen más difícultad, el minijuego de Big es excelente para entretener, algo que sería negativo para mí sería en qué que es muy fácil de conseguir las llaves de portal con el minijuego de Big, le quita la necesidad de entrar a los niveles del ciberespacio pero de ahí en fuera el juego es perfecto, tal vez el juego no sea tan innovador al ser mundo abierto pero es el juego qué Sonic necesitaba y las referencias no se quedan atrás hasta algunas me dió nostalgia de tan solo verlas como a Sonic recordándole a tails que salvó Station square es una escena que me recordó a Sonic adventure 1 ya que es mi juego favorito de la franquicia en 3d este juego definitivamente hizo que Sonic regresará como era antes… Expand

The cyberspace levels I am mixed about. The last island has completely original levels, other than one, but most of them are good. Unfortunately, the cyberspace levels in the earlier islands aren't so lucky. Some levels from earlier islands have level design taken from old levels, which sometimes feels lazy. However, the 3D stages are really fun. The 2D sections of cyberspace levels are probably the worst part of the game and the physics are why. You should also make sure to clear as many of the mini games that expand your GPS as possible or else you could be stuck searching for portals. However, overall, this game is fantastic. Get this game now. Also PLAY THE GAME ON HARD MODE or else you won’t get the true final boss. Actually, you only need to switch to hard mode before you get the 6th chaos emerald on the 5th and last island, but you should play the game on hard mode anyway because it’s not even hard. Sonic Frontiers returns tropes from older games in the series, namely the hidden lore and extended story of the series, as seen in the two Sonic Adventure games. The game has a gameplay loop of exploring the islands to find tokens, fighting mini-bosses (Which I actually felt there weren't enough of at some points), and runningAfter 11 years, we finally have another good Sonic Team game. Sonic Frontiers returns tropes from older games in the series, namely the hidden lore and extended story of the series, as seen in the two Sonic Adventure games. The game has a gameplay loop of exploring the islands to find tokens, fighting mini-bosses (Which I actually felt there weren't enough of at some points), and running through Cyberspace. Cyberspace physics were janky, and it took me a while to accept that many stages re-used old level design, but it was fun recognizing certain level layouts from Sonic's past. One thing I'd like to see in a potential follow-up to this game is replacing Cyberspace with more "levels in the open zone"- it's hard to understand what I"m describing if you haven't played the game. Though I still have a good amount of the game before I beat it, I've really enjoyed all of it so far, and I can't wait to see how Sonic Team takes what they've learned from this game to make something ven better.… Expand

Open world and serious story are a massive draw as a long time Sonic fan. This game hits all the key points on the head, the only thing that I would change is the cyber space levels. There needs to be more variety in locations and better controlling for Sonic.
    This is obviously a smaller part of the game and is immediately forgiven when they allowed me to go super sonic and beat the ever living snot out of massive titans!
    Pop in was minimal, graphics were good but not perfect If you are a Sonic fan and like lore, excellent game play, references to other characters from other Sonic media, insane fluidity in movement and traversal, this game is perfect for you.    … Expand

So much to discover and the more you play, the more you learn and get used to the great controls and battle moves. Some really cool ways of fighting and rushing around the brilliantly realised world. The best Sonic game in years and a really exciting step forward in the right direction.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. From the first 5 hours I spend playing this game and defeating the first boss, this is the best sonic game I've ever played!! The moment the first boss battle started and sonic got the 7th chaos emerald and the music featuring Kellin Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens came came on I knew this was a phenomenal game seeing super sonic pull off moves like it was an anime was the best thing I've seen and gave me chills. The traversal and voice acting along with the tons of stuff to do brings the feeling of "one more puzzle" and not going to sleep. This is a phenomenal game so far and I want to continue and perfect It 100%… Expand

    I was going to give this game an 8/10, but then i realized that it is a Sonic Game so......
    Overall, Fortnite is better.

    Es muy buen juego la verdad, en si mi calificación es un 8 por que no tiene doblaje latino y las gráficas la verdad dejan mucho que desear, pero le pongo 10 para apoyar el juego, ya que la crítica no fue muy imparcial que digamos, la verdad exageran un poco, no es como dicen, es un juego decente, y a mi me gusto.

    The idea and vision of the game is absolutely fabulous. In practice, however, the game is brought down by its execution, which you can see through after a short while and then the game has nothing to surprise you with. [Issue#324]

    There is nothing remotely redeeming about this game. Nothing that even the most die-hard loyal Sonic Fans would or should advocate for. I hope that one day someone who cares enough about this franchise could give us something-anything of substance. A fan can hope, can’t they? A fan can hope.

    Finally, after almost 25years of half measures and mostly mediocre titles, Sonic has finally reached the 3D levels of gameplay it needed to reach. Yes, the pop in is absolutely inexcusable and the ancient gatekeeping grindy methods damage the flow of the game for no reason, but a wonderfully built base exists here, with a highly entertaining adventure in wonderfully melancholic world and a surprisingly well founded story, thankfully clean of Sonic’s annoying 3rd tier friends!
