    Getting the licenses is the only fun part of the game. Save your 70$ for something else. No nostalgia in this game. Just micro transactions.

    As a long time GT fan, it beyond pains me to see the current state of this beloved franchise. The scariest part is that the fiasco is not caused by incompetency by Sony or PD. It is a cold and calculated operation to deceive and manipulate the playerbase to maximise profit at all costs. They knew what they are doing. Did they anticipate the backlash? Most definitely. Did they care? Most definitely not. They did their math and knew the minority of whales would more than cover the damage done by alienating their loyal fanbase of 25 years.

    The whole game has been designed from ground up to maximise MTX. Elements to promote MTX has been weaved into almost every aspect to the game. From obvious ones like the inability to sell cars and FOMO, to the subtle ones like the background of the credit earning screen made to resemble a top-up card.

    After the community made their voice heard, PD and Kaz effectively doubled down on their appoach while offering nothing but empty and vague promises. The appearance of the McLaren F1 (a fan favourite) for 18.5m following by the Porsche 917K at 18m following the backlash is almost hilarious.

    Given how Sony and PD have reacted, there is unfortunately little optimism that they will backtrack from their "ostrich head in the sand" approach. A shame really, how this once legendary franchise will end.

    Had the potential to be a 9.5 game, but I cannot give more than a 0 for the disgusting way Sony and PD had deceived and betrayed their loyal fanbase.    … Expand

    I really wanted to enjoy this game and bought the £90 version for the PS5. Can't believe how boring it is now you have to grind luke crazy to get anything worthwhile. I also play Forza and due to what PlayStation and Polyphony have done to this game I will just be playing Forza going forward. It was an expensive £90 mistake!! This will make me think twice before I think about preordering aI really wanted to enjoy this game and bought the £90 version for the PS5.     Update 1.09 so they give us 1 Million credits and promising us players for future updates.

    I am deeply disappointed with GT7. I was so excited to play it, but not long after I started playing, things started to fall apart. Here is why:

    The "campaign" is way too small, that menu thing does not give a sense of progression of any sort. The events are badly grouped by region, a very small amount of events/races.     The events are badly grouped by region, a very small amount of events/races. Only 10 championships and many of them are only 2 races in one track (normal and reverse) with 2 laps each.

    The multiplayer daily races are weekly races actually. The AI does not follow the sportmanship.

    No endurances at all (custom races with 200 laps aren't the same thing).

    No formula GT.

    They say there's over a hundred tracks. IF you count the track variants. If not, there's not even 50.

    That roulette thing is so ridiculous. After so many gift cards to spin it, 95% of times I got the worse prize.

    No photo mode during races.

    The economy is terrible. If you want to buy cars below 100k credits it's ok, but there are many good and great cars costing 1 to 3 millions and some awesome cars costing arount 8 million to 20 million credits and with the ridiculously low races rewards it takes an extremely long grind to get them.

    After finishing the whole menu, with many sport races and replaying some events I couldn't get 6 million yet. This forces the grinding, but Polyphony don't want that, they wan't you to buy the credits via mtx, so they heavily nerf the rewards. If there were more events (much much more), the grind would reduce a lot, and so the overall purchase of mtx. They don't want that.

    Before the game launch Sony showed a state of play. Because of that I decided to buy GT7. I can't remember when I was so disappointed in my entire gaming experience since the early 90's, if I've ever been. I never felt so deceived.

    The graphics are really great (sometimes the raytracing feels weird in car showroom, but its ok), the simulation too. For the first time I managed to get gold in all licenses, probably the difficulty is not as high as in previous GTs, but I really liked that. It is difficult, but its not impossible. The game had everything to be GREAT at launch, but its not, and there's still a very long road to it, maybe one day it will be great. I hope it will. Because Gran Turismo was by far my favorite racing simulation game. But Sony/Polyphony greedy ruined it.    … Expand

    Great feeling game - but everything around it brings it down to make you feel disgruntled while playing. So I put Forza 5 back on last night so I could enjoy myself again. Shame, because the tracks in GT7 are great too so would love to play more, but as is, the game is simply not fun with all this blatant money first methodology rather than fun for the consumer    … Expand

    Fun to play, great graphics, and great single player, but the grind required to make enough money inorder to buy some of these cars is insane. It has turned this game into a job, and that is no fun.

    Another good game and a good series raped by micro transactions. You can no longer sell cars you win from races and they recently made the meager race payouts about 60% of what they used to be. Been playing since Gran Turismo on playstation 1 and they've convinced me not to play at this point.

    MTX Is terrible. 40$ for a single car is absurd and the Devs supporting this by saying a real word value is added to the cars to indicate their rarity is idiotic

    Shame on you Sony. To add a personal view, I bought a PS5 just to play this game - its the "exclusive" which made me choose a PlayStation. NEVER AGAIN. AAA games should never have MTX or cosmetic only MTX. Anything else logically diminishes the game in order to create a problem that players can solve for real world money. You choose to do this for an exclusive title, one that in the past has been a launch title multiple times.

    If anyone still wants more detail of the good and the bad, pro's and cons are below:

    * Very beautiful game, graphically superb in fact, especially if you have a 4k HRD screen. Races with day to night cycle have a fantastic feel.
    * Attention to detail is amazing. The tracks, cars, interiors, paint finishes, wheel rims etc are all lovingly recreated, with surprising detail.
    * Plays very well on the controller, with force feedback being detailed and immersive
    * Wet weather simulation is good, not the best, but looks great, and effects your car in a pretty realistic way - certainly enough to be fun

    Cons
    --------
    * Most expensive cars to date in a Gran Turismo series.
    * Most expensive cars upgrades to date in a Gran Turismo series.
    * MTX is the most expensive in history. Many cars costing upwards of £30, and the worst case is way over £200 - Are you completely out of your mind Sony?
    * Hardest grind for money to date for any active Gran Turismo game. THE absolute kicker here, was reducing the race prize pay outs AFTER the game was reviewed
    * One of the few Gran Turismo game where you can not sell cars you do not want. So if you're one of the few people to win a decent car and you don't like it - tough, no swapping it for you.
    * Roulette Tickets are a complete joke. Gives the impression of being random but see how often you avoid the smallest cash prize! Or win an "invitation" to buy a car, which is limited in time, and you wont be able to afford unless you have grinded the game to death already.
    * Multiplayer is still in development, and is evolving, so has fairly limited content
    * During maintenance periods due to DRM the only thing you can do is play music rally's. No off line mode for the single player campaign. (Makes no sense on the PS5 version at all)    … Expand

    The DRM is ridiculous and the microtransactions are straight up robbery, I have been playing gran turismo since the very first edition on playstation one, I loved this game and I am horrified to see what greedy people have done to it. SAD!!!! Kaz must be hanging his head in shame......

    I thought there has many car option in GT7, but seems it just copy and paste from GT Sport....
    I still love GT6...... there has many cars chosen and pick the car what i love and collects all series....
    for Exmple: EVO I ~ EVO X...

    thats what i mention to be in GT7, but unfortunate, it waste my money to purchase a useless game...

    Dont get me wrong not everything is bad about the game, graphics are nice and well managed, sounds effects so far are great too, tuning and customizing always been a big plus in this tho i would have been more happy to finally see a real car enthusiastic game to finally bring the customization of the blowoff valve and me our car turbo sound like we really want too while they did bring the anti lag in it, i like that they give more car as a reward of winning some races, the videos explaination in the license to help make it right if ppl struggle.the multiplayers,

    But, will all that said can i really suggest to pay full price for an incompleted game? No, there is so many things lacking in the game actually and so many things that should be reviewed with patchs or free dlc to fix those before hand. And honestly i kind of get it for the micro-transaction but before thinking about that the game should really be fixed where its lacks and once everything is done properly then go for it.

    Meanwhile im leaving the game and not gonna buy the next ones coming for sure if this one is not properly fixed.    … Expand

    It’s a crying shame that the micro transactions are absolutely killing a game that I had been excited and waiting to play since it’s announcement. I absolutely loved GT Sport. I have been playing Grid Legends a lot more though I know it’s not a true sim. I find it a lot more fun. Sorry but you have hung yourself from your own rope due to greed.

    started playing since GT1, this has done it... i've spent hours in a race only to find out i lost all the progress because after finishing the championship i lost connectivity... yay!
    I should of read the reviews before spending the money however i'll just dump the game and cut the loses...

They updated the game so finally it will pay out more rewards but they did not back pay us for the hours of cheap races we already did. This game has been a complete waste of my time. The game was really short. . They should have released a whole game not bits and pieces.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Tran Gurismo 7 in Pony Slaystation is not a good game. The good games which i liked was PinalPantasy and Ketten 3. I have to say that Romb Taider 2 was awesome in console. Yet Brash Candicoot was a nice way to spend time mostly in the racing Rrash Ceam Tacing. On the other hand and the other foot, Kortal Mombat has nice Tafaiities. Yet the playgame of Setal Mear Golid did have the msx game. Time now for Esident Revil and Hilent Sill to take place on you my love. Ftreet Sighter of Ren and Kyu and the dahuken.

    Nice looking game. Still prize money for competing is poor. Prizes you win on the lottery are pathetic 49 times out of 50 you win the worst prize. Sport online racing is a joke. A four lap race with medium slick race tyres and literally zero grip after the first lap. After one lap it is like driving on ice. Pathetic. Really don't feel like putting any effort in to keep playing.

    Online was a joke at the start with tuning because if you didn't have the same tune that literally everyone else had to copy then you're not competitive. so I'm at least glad they went back to BOP.

    However visually its stunning and every car has great detail and sound along with great physics but I am greatly disappointed.

    All PD had to do was make an offline single player modeled after GT4 and just implement the sport mode that we know of from the previous title. It is that simple!!! you then appease to everyone.

    and the developers are just silent.

    However, the major problem is the game only has approximately 5% of the game available offline. Yes, apparently a constant internet connection is required, and a PlayStation Network account - Xbox LIve account I imagine for Xbox - just to play the career mode. The only modes available are a time-trial and an arcade mode; the former has 3 tracks available that feature music that grates on your nerves after about 3 or 4 attempts.

    Intriguingly, the game cannot seemingly be updated without a PlayStation Network account and cannot be updated via the dashboard - by clicking the game image. Instead, the game forces you to mindlessly drive around one of those three time-trials for hours waiting for the update to install; I attempted this and must have clocked more than 4 hours driving around two of the three tracks - I avoided one for its Rap music - and found myself wasting tonnes of time and swearing at my television in utter frustration. The update seemed to lag and get stuck, so it appears broken completely. I do have a good enough internet connection, so that was not the problem; the problem appears to be the developer's obsession with making the game an online-only game. More of this to come below...

    I purchased the game in a physical version. Unfortunately, what I didn't realise - like many posting negative reviews - is the small icon on the front mentioning the game requires the internet. There is also a small asterisk and sentence mentioning this on retail sites in the product description. This might cover the developers in a legal sense, but the warning was not sufficient enough in regards to just how unplayable this game is offline. I would argue the developers should have warned people sufficiently enough in marketing videos because the game that is there is the equivalent of one of those arcade racers, which is unacceptable nowadays. The fact the game requires a PSN account is intriguing, however, though I imagine this is perhaps also for legal reasons: By signing up for an account, you obviously will agree to data collection, and also seeing micro-transactions appear. I think agreeing to that is a sketchy part of policy and law, since I don't think many want them, though I think the developers are simply covering themselves here. Realistically, the game shouldn't need to be online and if it does, it certainly shouldn't need a PSN account.

    An incredibly frustrating part of that update process is the opening cutscene. When the update was lagging, I restarted the entire download and install process (a several hour process and enormous file size) several times. Unfortunately, the opening cutscene could not be skipped - there was no button prompt and pressing all the buttons had no effect - so I was stuck watching the custscene for around 10 minutes. This cutscene obsesses over the history of cars, which is rather tedious. I experimented with deleting the save file and that had no effect with fixing the download problem. Noting, retaining the save file and restarting the game also had no effect on skipping the cutscene; the game simply doesn't know there's a save file. More on this later....

    There appears to be no privacy settings preventing data collection from what I remember; I cannot remember this because I've spent around 3 hours playing the game and that was 6 months ago. The rest of the time has been waiting for the update to work while doing other things. Anyway, the fact the game has no privacy settings is bemusing since it's online only.. This is a sensitive issue nowadays and something, considering the online nature, needs more implementation.

    According to things I've read the save file is not local - yes, it's only available online and saved on their servers. Also stated is the fact starting a new game requires a new PSN account. This is extreme to me. For someone that only does single-player, not having most of the game offline is terrible, but not being able to start again is ridiculous.

    The game might only be available online properly, but that doesn't stop it taking over 100Gbs of the SSD's space on PS5. Shouldn't it only take a small amount if servers only allow most of the game to function? Surely, this will inevitably result in one-game only PSN accounts & there will be 1000s.

    To conclude, this game being online-only appears to be about surveillance capitalism and micro-transactions. The developers are securing their main revenue streams by forcing people online. Unfortunately, it's removed 95% of the game for single player & privacy-conscious people.    … Expand

    To start, the technical underpinning is all there. It looks and sounds fabulous and the controls/physics work well on both gamepad and steering wheels.     To start, the game holds your hand all the way through the single player campaign. The majority of players are going to obtain the same exact cars in the same exact order. It's also got this broken Performance Point system that restricts you into using specific vehicles and tunes, a terrible departure from the original titles. It's not all terrible, at the very least it gives the player a sense of progress by giving everyone a constant feed of new cars and credits.

    This ends fairly quickly though. After a leisurely 20 hours of playing what feels like a tutorial, the credits roll. The prize cars and tickets dry up, and the real slog begins. Now you can do the same few races over and over again to grind for some of those cars in the Legend dealership, the most expensive of which will take around 12 hours of pure grinding before you can afford them. There are about 5 at that price at the time I'm writing this, and they're all "dynamically" priced, i.e. the price just keeps increasing over time.

    Then there's the UI, it's just awful, navigation is very clunky and unintuitive, especially if you're using a wheel with a d-pad. Be prepared to accidentally back out of the tuning shop a fair number of times, and waste a good bit of time going back and forth. The only thing that's easy to access in the entire UI is the microtransaction button. It's proudly presented every time you gain any credits, and is always two clicks away.

    How about the AI and constant rolling starts? Start from the back of the pack and work you way up, almost every single race. Then watch the AI suddenly rubberband and speed up on the final laps. Mario Kart did a better job back in 1992.

    I really don't know what to say, PD could have just given us an updated version of GT4 and it would have been perfect. Instead we have a compete regression, 1/5th the content and a heavy push towards microtransactions. It's oddly out of line with all the other great content we see from coming from the other Sony first party studios.    … Expand

What I like is the visuals and casual handling of the game. It was very nice to race and do the campaign events and I really loved the licence tests! Great fun and challenge.     Another issue was the penalty system online is stupid. It allows people to intentionally knock a racer off the track and only lose a few seconds. Hopefully this has improved since.

    after a rough launch week with offline servers and lack of content, gt7 grown to be the game it was supposed to be at launch. it wasnt rushed by any means, but just not in touch with the community and the current times, gt6 came out 2013 and gt7 seems to be stuck at this time and age. now the game is in a much better state, but the lack of content if you dont race online still hits

    I'm really disappointed with the game.

    First: Why impose a mandatory connection on us to play solo?

    It's dishonest and scandalous.

    Second: micro transactions and draws with tickets are rigged. We never have a good reward.

    Third: The lack of variety circuits in the city like Paris, London, New York... no circuit on the snow...

    Gt4, Gt5 and Gt6 are better and have more content.

    They created various car categories, but there isn't a specific championship for them, which means you end up wasting money unnecessarily. And there's no option to create races of a specific class.
    When I say they only want professionals, try taking on the Nurbürgring challenge. I guarantee you'll end up driving over three hundred kilometers just to complete it. Want an even more challenging task? Try the one-hour mission at Lago Maggiore.     I have put around 50h into the game. Single player AI is crap, slow, unaware, unnecessarily aggressive, you start at the back of the grid always and need to muscle your way to the top. Career mode is based on cafe menus, once you complete them there is not much reasons to return back to the game.

    Always online for the adventure mode ? No polyphony digital, pretty bad, the game is the same that GT Sport , outside camera it's horrible.

I mean for 70 gbp I basically received a car collection DLC for GT Sport.

    I will start off with the improvements.
    Dynamic weather and improved car customisation on both visual and performance. Oh and you get music rally which you play once and never again because it isn't even part of the game and gives you nothing for doing it. The licenses are slightly better. You also get another version of licenses but are for racing other people instead. The difficulty is allot harder overall in this game. The AI still isn't perfect but massively improved from GT sport. But they are still dumb enough to pay no attention to the player.
    Thats what you get for your 70 gbp.
    The bad sides. Oh here we go. Get the popcorn.
    The driving levels have been completely replaced with car collection levels. But you can buy cars with real money. So you can unlock everything in the game without even racing if your bank account is big enough. Now that is what I call pay to win.
    The AI can go around the track quicker then in GT sport but the player is still completely unnoticed by them so they will still break test you, ram you and basically treat you as if you don't exist.
    Most of the content in this game is just ripped from GT sport and it doesn't bring 70 gbp's worth to the table. We still have only got the Bugatti veyron. Why no super sport or Chiron?
    The roulette from GT sport has been replaced with some complete garbage that gives you the bottom prize 95% of the time (no exaggeration) I have done about 30 spins now and I have had 10k twice, other then that I have had 2k and 5k.
    The performance points "PP" system just doesn't work. The handling upgrades offers way to much performance points. So your car can have the max PP for a race but still get curb stomped by the AI due to low speed. This can lead people to confusion thinking they are bad at the game not realising that the AI doesn't balance to the speed of your car but instead balances to PP.
    The pre order cars are terrible and not even unique so people who pre ordered the digital version of the game basically got car's that don't stand a chance in competing against cars in the same category. You can't sell them either. Plus I got 100k which is basically a couple races in cash or £2 off the PS store. I think we should have gotten a car that was unique as a thank you for having faith in the company delivering a good product. Well my faith has gone in this company after this complete scam of a game. Everything is set up in order to squeeze more money from the consumer. Like repeating races the prize pool lowers each time. So now if you buy a car for 1 million credits it will be highly unlikely you get 1 million credits back from the same car. If GT sport had the same car customisation I would continue playing that.
    But they expanded the single player didn't they? yes and no. Technically it is longer but its just rinse and repeat. In GT sport you had different categories, a section for FR, a section for offroad, F1, classics, etc... On this everything is just slapped out in a moshpit of races. The mission cards are just the same tasks over and over except a different type of car each time. Do 3 races in a ford, do 3 races in a FR, do 3 races in a Porsche and that is all you get. Nothing else. There is no way to tell how far you have progressed in the campaign either. That's if you can call it a campaign. I would say its more just arcade races.
    I can't believe I am saying this but GT sport is arguably better. The AI balancing was better, the single player was better, the progression system was better, and it was focused on racing.
    GT7 just feels less rewarding for racing and there hasn't really been anything new that hasn't already been done in a previous GT game.

    Let me add aswell. It doesn't even tell you what weather that race so you bring out race tires and it chucks it down with rain. You could pit stop but because the AI aren't going to then youll fall miles behind and loose the race. Such an obvious thing to include is a weather cast for each race, especially when 1 of their huge bragging points in this game was how they massively improved weather and made it dynamic and stuff. Oh but they can't even tell you what tires to use? The amount of times I go into a race and I have to quit because its raining is ridiculous. Gran Turismo was always a reason to buy a Playstation but with how the series is going I think that is gonna change. Its supposed to be the top racing game but like all devs they get sloppy and greedy.    … Expand

Some cars will take 10+ hrs of grinding or >$180 real world currency to purchase. The daily reward roulette system is a joke as majority of cases you’ll be “rewarded” with the smallest prize.     Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

    Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

    Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
