  1. Playstation 4 and 5 consoles finally got the Gran Turismo game they deserved. Despite its minor flaws, the real driving simulation series is back to its roots with Gran Turismo 7.

A return to form for Gran Turismo. After too many years, Polyphony Digital crafted an almost perfect iteration of Gran Turismo, where past and present blend together for an epic journey through the car culture.

GT7 doesn’t feel like a truly new game – more like an upgraded version of Sports. But it’s par for the course for the series: each generation, Polyphony Digital makes a solid foundation and then builds upon it. [Issue#260, p.38]

Gran Turismo 7 strikes the perfect balance between accessibility and realism in a way that caters to casual players and veterans. It's a gorgeous racing game with a surprisingly addictive gameplay loop thanks to the new Café and Menu Books systems. While some modes are certainly not as strong as others, Gran Turismo 7 checks almost all the boxes of what a driving simulator should be.

Even on a controller, on a base model PS4, the racing feels amazing

I simply can't fault a game with optional microtransactions and some server issues when it plays this good and sounds this fantastic. Maybe wait for a sale if you want to spend some real money on time-saving currency, but make no mistake this is the new standard for racing.

As for the negatives: the game's economy is the biggest. You get a daily roll after driving 43km, but it's nonsense. In GT Sport you could get a 1 out of 4 cars. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but it always was an another car for your collection. Here you can win cash, tuning part or a car. But mind you, after many rolls I had maybe one medium cash reward. That's it, all of them were small amounts, even smaller than for winning a simple race. I said that tuning is nice, yes, but not it's a bit expensive. So please, all you have to do, is implement GT Sport economy into this game. I never complained about lack of credits in their previous game, but still it was a challenge to collect enough to buy some legendary car. Oh and another thing: constant internet connection to even play offline? Come on.
Update: with each update there are more and more race prizes. It's a step forward.

Indeed, they have largely reduced the credits earned per race and it becomes ridiculously long and time-consuming, needless to say also ultra boring to earn new credits to buy new cars. Other modes than the solo mode are not rewarding at all, and the utmost shame is that a lot of cars are very expensive, some of them costing the equivalent of +30h of farming in terrible conditions. There are +400 cars in the game, and what we want as players is to be able to earn new cars at a regular pace to enjoy them, and not to have to wait 5 years before buying thisbeloved and long-desired 12m Jaguar.

Polyphony created at the last minute before the release of the game extremely unaffordable MTs in prevision of such moves, and as of now you may spend 120e of real money just to buy ONE car if you cannot farm. This is absolutely unacceptable because we do not want to pay 1000 euros a full game, but not to be deceived by a game maker that already sells its game 80e. The endless maintenance today also proves that the compulsory online servers to play the solo was a bad idea and destroys the gaming experience for which we had very high expectations, considering the prestige of the games, and their past mistakes.

It seems that Kazunogain and his teams don't learn ! The game is failing on some parts but stays a pretty good game who deserve a grade between 7 and 9, it is too bad to waste such an experience with bad decisions and treacherous MTs.

If the policy regarding the reduction of credits flips back, I will reconsider my grade and will eventually regrade the game by a 7+.

We'll be a lot to do that, so please hear us ! It's a massive and collective complaint (just check Reddit, Twitter, GTPlanet).

I hope we'll be heard. Sincerely from France,
