As for some reason you play as the baddie for half the game and even assault the main charecter. It feel like your playing a game as a pedophile chaseing children at times, it makes you just feel dirty. I don't think it's as good as critics say but also not as terrible as most people who played it say. First of all the game design, graphics, controls and customization is amazing. The attention to detail is unlike anything we've ever seen in a ps exclusive. Ellie's arc was great overall, with deep development and a good ending. The only problem i have with the ending is that i think it's unrealistic how Ellie's decides that she should give up on avenging Joel when she drowns Abby instead of when she cut her open and heard her scream. Abby's is pretty bad tho. The reason why she killed Joel is bc he killed her father. That is understandable, she went through a lot of pain for him but the big problem is that Abby's dad was the real bad guy. He only died bc he took Ellie away. Ellie was like Joel's daughter and after losing Sarah, it's only understandable why he would react that way. By that, she made Ellie feel the same way as she did, thus creating a cycle of hatred and yet, Abby wonders why Ellie comes after her to kill her. Abby would even kill Dina and Ellie's friends even tho they didn't do anything. Abby's friends were responsible for Joel's death so unlike Abby, Ellie definitely had a reason to kill them. In short, Ellie's development was great, Abby's was terrible bc it feels like avenging bad people for 10 hours. Expand

    Negatives : STORY ( story with all capital letters, yes ) - unlikable characters - unnecessarily long

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I overall enjoyed the Last Of Us Part 2, however i feel it has some flaws that make it far from a 10. The attempt to make you sympathise with Abby, (i understood her perspective) doesn't work all that well. It leaves players having to slug through her section of the story when it has a lot to offer in terms of its gameplay and story elements. I also dislike the back and fourths the game provides with Ellie constantly changing her mind between revenge and moving on. I feel the story could of worked much better had they re-sequenced the events that occur. The ending was also somewhat disappointing, I wouldn't call it a bad ending but it just wasn't what I'd of done. We see Ellie learn that no matter what she does she can't bring Joel back and will instead leave Lev in a similar position to her own (without her mentor/parental figure).

    On the bright side, I really enjoyed some of the new gameplay mechanics and thought they added a good variety to the game. However I felt there were to many resources making the game quite easy (I played on Hard). I looked at the implementation of safes in which you had to find the code in a creative way.
    I also really liked the new characters (especially Dina) and enjoyed Ellies relationships with them.
    The enemies in this game are extremely interesting (especially the Scars) and had me wanting to learn more, I also found myself reading every note I found which rarely happens in games. However I would of liked some more backstory on the Scars

    Overall I feel Naughty Dog did a brilliant job with the last of us in many aspects of the game, from gameplay to visuals. Although the story fell short leaving me upset that after all Ellie had endured she lost everything she loved.

    The visuals in this game are exactly as required for a masterpiece this late into the generation. The sounds are precise, the weather and water is top notch, and the voice acting is great. However you can draw a wonderfully detailed picture of a circle and it’s still a circle. I did fall asleep, mostly from working too

    The visuals in this game are exactly as required for a masterpiece this late into the generation. The sounds are precise, the weather and water is top notch, and the voice acting is great. However you can draw a wonderfully detailed picture of a circle and it’s still a circle. I did fall asleep, mostly from working too much, but mainly because the story did not draw me into the “what is going to happen next” excitement I get from great stories. The actual story falls well short of my expectations for a follow up to a top notch written story such as The Last of Us.

    I spent time after the first murderous blunder up to the end waiting for the story to self correct, just like Cortana becoming evil, to come full circle only to be extremely disappointed. The creation of a new character is like Locke in the same very game I can’t believe is so relatable. Those who embolden this game as the next best thing since sliced bread are just as feeble minded as those who thought Halo 5(the campaign) was fantastic.

    The drawn out lackluster ending after playing both sides up to the end was aggravating and slow. Here you can tell the writers just threw whatever they could at the wall on top of their horrible story itself. The game play is simple enough and relatively smooth however I noticed many frame drops on my pro, that affected my personal experience of the game play. This occurred early on in the game riding the horse to switching and during cutscenes. The only open world part of the game is the very beginning when you arrive to Seattle and after that it is all linear story telling. That alone diminished my perspective on a game that touted an open world system, though they did not say how much.

    I don’t care for or against the political statement regarding same sex couples at the end that seems to fuel anger among others. That part of the story is not my issue. I feel like I spent too much time watching a movie that lacked the needed, let alone the expected, story to follow up the first games masterpiece of writing.

    Overall I would grade this on 3 levels as follows:

    Gameplay: 6
    Graphics : 8
    Story: 2

    Overall 5.5

TLOU 2 is almost perfect in everything: pleasant gameplay, fights and their staging, well-designed locations; seriously, I have not seen a single game where the locations would be so diverse and with so many details. So the question is, how can you make the game’s so miserable plot and mutilate old characters that people love so much that even I sat with Spanish shame from all it? I adhere to the fact that this is all just a crazy fanfiction of Neil Druckmann and Anita Sarkeesian. But to my great regret, the studio simply does not have the courage to admit the project as unsuccessful and, for example, to reissue the second part with a new plot. One can only hope that they will not develop the third part, or stop following the SJW community (which does not even play games), Neil gets off the crocodile (or what does he accept there?) and releases an adequate third part. Although even if we hope for the most positive, then the **** with which they smeared the first part and the fans just can not be washed away even by the ideal in the whole third game.

    By the way, Anita Sargsyan writes about the fanfiction of the TLOU dissatisfied with the plot of the continuation(crossed out) funfiction: “And honestly I'm putting aside that they haven't even played the game yet and have been hyped through all the years of released teasers. They just wanna be mad. They are sad. They probably hate themselves. And hate their lives and believe that gives them license to hurt others.” Why fall even lower in the eyes of the public writing such nonsense?

Game is pretty long: 25-27 hours, a ton of gameplay, a visual and graphics is devastating, simply best graphics a had see so far, good sound design, good gameplay, but you’ll quickly understand, gameplay ain’t changing. I was Playing on survival difficulty, isn’t felt difficult to me, really simple stealth and combat system. Sadly we get to story, well, it’s controversial. I felt script itself is predictable, i am not only about leaked story, i am about: screamers, than makes every twist is worse and worse to characters, so u sitting and like: they really gonna use same and same story weal ? In a ending: yes. Personally, I wasn’t that disappointed, cause I was thinking Joel was make wrong decision, so I understood Abby’s character. I ain’t felt Abby’s character worst of this story. Worst in this, main idea and not going whit this to end. Vengeance makes vengeance, bla-bla-bla. Ok, I got ya, so that mean we’ll have ability to make our own decision in the end ? Right ? We gonna take side ? Drunkman: hahahah, lol, no, of course not, we gonna make most predictable ending, so predictable, than you’ll even gonna surprise to see this. Just fight between two characters.
    Me: like in a uncharted, Drunkman ? Drunkman: WHAT ? NO ? iT’S NOT UNCHARTED, iT’S NOT !!! iT’S SERIOUS, REALISTIC GAME, FOR ADULTS !!! Me: that’s why u have this crazy uncharted moments in a game, where no one gonna survive ? Drunkman: ... should u play this ? I re-played TLOU1 recently and still loved the game. it's successor well, my first impression in terms of game play was that not much had changed. That was probably acceptable 7 years ago but now character movement just feels 'clunky' general movement is way behind that of other modern games.

    I've not completed the game yet but so far the story line feels really out of sync, this maybe intentional but, IMO, it just doesn't work well. It feel like they either couldn't quite decide which way to go with the story or just got lost and rushed it. I doubt the latter as they had loads of time to polish. Graphics and sounds were good. I waited a long time for this to come out, quite a let down...

The games first flaw is the inconsistencies of the characters we know, and their development being widely already explored and established.This game dismantles all of that, changing Joel into a clumsy gullible fool, as opposed to who he was in the first game. Joel's inability to trust people and their motives, are what kept him and his loved ones alive, he lived as well as he would die by the guidelines he set for himself in order to survive in a hostile world where anybody is susceptible to malevolence. This is seen practiced in Joel's and Ellie's journey across the country. In the 2nd game, Joel is transformed into somebody who is virtually unrecognizable by allowing his trust to put him and his brother in immediate danger, and this wasn't subtle in the least, not only did he agreed to follow Abby into her lodge where there were other people with motives unbeknownst to him but he didn't even question himself nor the assailants intentions, he acted through a persona that goes against everything he is. Furthermore, it just gets comical to the effect of even giving them his name and where they live.

    Ellie's demeanor is dubbed down as a linear character with no nuance or growth, she has a single narrative, and that is *Kill Abby* nothing else matters, and you see this unfolds as she mows down dozens of men and women with no hesitation in order to get what she wants, this also goes against Ellie's principles that are apparent in the first game as well. The rest of the cast serve no relevance to what is going on around them, they could've easily still made the game without the excess of characters, and it wouldn't have affected the game's main story at all. Abby has to be the worst written character in all of gaming history, she shows no regrets, not once does she reflect on her actions, I've seen enough dateline and crime shows to see that Abby shows every characteristics of a sociopath, lacking any empathy for the people she's killed, there's no relatable trait that makes me care for her as a person because she doesn't have any, and forcing the player to play as her for the entirety of the 2nd half of the game is unforgivable. Number 2: The story.

    The story in this game feels so redundant because it never gives the player the ability to sit and fathom what is going on, so the experience and the impact the game tries to express through its shock value, feels empty and drained of any context of what its trying to convey to the player, the message is drowned out by forced plot points that excruciatingly drags on just to arrive at no conclusion, the only saving grace the game's story had to cling on was the climax, and that was snuffed out by having Ellie save Abby's life (Her father's murderer and a sociopath) just to then let her walk away. The game lost it's inner core of what it was supposed to be about: THE **** ZOMBIES, in this game they were just there as props to serve a mundane and pointless narrative in revenge.

    Number 3: The politics.

    If you go back far enough, you'll see these subtle hints being expressed by the actions and words Niel has used, for instance: Neil Druckmann was doing a conference where he was suggesting that multiple gaming developers were sexist and part of the "problem" by allegedly monopolizing women's sensuality for profit. That alone gives you the impression of what Niel Druckmann assumes about the gaming community and developers of being a bunch of sexist pigs who looks at women no more than sexual objects for our desires and profits. He hired a transgendered individual because of his/her sexual identity and not because of his/her experience and performance, that is in itself the ideal irony in all of this, because what he assumes about the gaming community, is true of what HE IS, looking at people only through the lens of dirty politics and not for who they are as individuals, what only matters is what group they belong to. Number 4:The Controversies.

    Neil and naughty dog with sony, used a company called "Muso" to find and strike independent gaming journalist on youtube, for even muttering any hints at the game's leaks, multiple channels were susceptible in losing their careers over something so damn trivial, because Neil can't stand having dissonance being discussed about his overly pretentious game. I'll end with this: People loved The last of us because of how easy it was to relate to Joel and Ellie's story, the zombies were there for a purpose, everything and everyone in the game served a purpose and a meaning, and all of it was served masterfully as a complimentary to Joel's and Ellie's development as characters and their story. None of that is potrayed in the last of us 2.

    - The story is Ellie going for revenge and kills all the friends of Abby
    but then doesnt kill the one person she needs to kill because she gets a flashback of Joel.

    - Poorly executed story
    - Pacing of the story.

    - It tries too hard to force the player to feel for Abby
    It succeeds in a way but again in my opinion it feels poorly executed.

    - Abby flashbacks were not intresting.
    (Only one that matters are the first one where you see her with her dad
    + her seeing her dad dead by the acts of Joel)

    ---Mixed---
    - Ellie lost everything. I dont know what to feel about this
    - Dont know what to feel about Abby as a part 3 runner. (makes sense if they go for a cure plot again)
    - Dont know how to feel about them killing of Joel in a way that is super disrespectful.
    - Ellie gives everything up but then saves Abby and Lev, therefor letting Ellie do one good thing at the end of it.

    Conclussion: Im gonne play the game again with gamemode + and just re-expierence it but not instantly. Ill replay it eventually. This game is super mixed for me. I dont like the pacing of the story but the main message is there and is told in a way that is ok but I still think its poorly executed and should have been better. The cycle of revenge and how violence is never the answer is the message. Part 3 is probably going to happen with Abby and Lev making it to the fireflies. And the only logical thing I could see happen in part 3 is Abby and Lev talking to the fireflies about Ellie and the cure and searching her to get the cure done. Ending the game with humanity restored. Or they leave it like it is now. With Ellie losing everything in her life. But for me part 2 was one of the most depressing games ive ever played.

The story choices feel cheap and unearned with the intent to shock and guilt the player with little to no payoff. Graphics and sound are great, animation and accessibility are excellent. However, some of the accessibility options are hilarious, this game ultimately feels made for game journalists who love the smell of their own farts instead of fans of the original. Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So much here is good. this is the best looking game on the PS4, probably ever. The use of difficulty settings, etc was done amazing, and the gaming industry needs to apply this to future games. It allows total customization on how you want to experience difficulty, rewards etc, and it's very well done.

    The game makes a huge mistake when you have to play as "Abby", after killing the character you probably love the most as a fan of the series. At times I felt manipulated as a player having to perform forced actions that Abby makes, The "Scripted" action of killing the dog as Ellie, felt very forced, and then introduced a weak story around it. The story felt cheap, poorly written and forced. I was not invested in Abby's character whatsoever, although I will admit she has the best combat scenes in the game.

    The ending was poorly written, and very gut wrenching, and did not make any sense at the end. Narratively speaking it was very bad.

    I give it a 6/10 because graphically its beautiful, plays okay, but gets repetitive.

But even with Ellie, there is never an option except death. Why do all the characters have to attack me in key scenes? I just want revenge on Abby and leave countless piles of bodies like it's nothing. I am always the invader and the aggressor. I find the justifications for my actions very disturbing and the permanent twisting of the facts in the question of guilt very troubling. And all this in a game world where humanity is perishing. The graphics, the technology and the storytelling are simply terrific. In it, the entire plot is not going according to the player's plan and it is shocking and disgusting. In technical terms, the game is not surprising, because something like this is expected from a team like naughty dog. But this game is focused on the plot and there are big problems with it. The plot is incredibly stupid, illogical and goes against the player's plan - it is shocking and disgusting. And when Abby begins to fight with the giant infected in the hospital it is believed that the team of writers is sitting on heavy drugs and mixing them writes the script for the game. And this feeling remained with me, and not only me, until the very end of the game. Neil Drunkman sucks. 5 and a half out of 10 Expand

    Im giving it a 5 for the devs who worked so hard to build such a beautiful game with amazing graphics but they sadly waisted their talent on a **** show.
    The soundtrack is awesome and the gameplay is close to the first game but its still good
    And the flashbacks feel more TLOU than the hole game
    Cons
    THE STORY
    The story sucks, it doesn’t make sence, especially the ending, u are about to kill Abby (THE PERSON WHO KILLED JOEL INFRONT OF ELLIES EYES),but then you see a flashback of Joel, you think that would’ve motivated more Ellie to killl Abby? No. She letted her go. Reminder, She is the same person who cutted her 2 finger.
    This is a wtf moment
    And the credit scene makes me so sad, Ellie, ending up like that, AND TRYING TO PLAY THE GUITAR! Wtf
    THE CHARACTER DESGIN
    Ellie looks like a skinny white boy (with small muscles), Abby looks like Hulk and Dina has some small muscles.
    THE LGBTQ REPRESENTATION
    It feels like marketing/advertisement, not for the sake of the lgbt representation in the gaming industry
    THE FALSE ADVERTISEMENT
    How can you do that? And why? Why would you?

Basing it as a sequel it's not bad, but some of the previous points are thrown out, for example, Joel and his brother's personality not being cautious as the stories they told from the first game, Ellie's personality changed a lot, it's shown that she still has the heart to collect cards but not get PSVita? , etc.

    The story is much more focused on Abby forcing people to like her rather than Ellie or Joel which was loved from the previous game. Abby's character didn't get much depth and didn't even hesitate to kill Joel even after being was saved by the Miller brothers when she got separated from her group and being overwhelmed by the infected.

    The story and it's graphics are the only thing that hold this game together, but the story failed to live up from its predecessor. The gameplay is already generic since the first game and the weapon customization is not that deep.

    All in all it's not a bad game if the first game didn't exist.

    The game looks great, with lots of big locations. That is a big plus. But for me it pretty much ends there.

    There is a lot I didn't like:
    - The vibe of part 2 is totally different from part 1, and not in a positive way;
    - The story goes on for way, waaaaaaaaay too long. Really. They should have at least cut 1/3 of it. And this is very much possible, as there are quite a lot of things you can cut without affecting the main storyline in any real way (you may lose a bit of 'nuance', but nothing that can't be missed);
    - The gameplay is far too repetitive (see also my previous point!). Especially when the story goes for the 'double down' halfway through (if you've played, you know what I mean);
    - The difficulty setting is totally off. I finished Part 1 on its default difficulty, and it was challenging, but fine and doable. I started Part 2 on "moderate", then went down to "easy" because of a number of very frustrating encounters & to speed up the game. And the last half I played on the lowest difficulty, and still there were encounters that were just too hard for that setting. And I am not an hardcore gamer, but at the very least an average gamer;
    - This game has the same problem that the "Uncharted" games have for me (also from ND): if there are fighting parts in the game, make the fighting mechanics good. The mechanics in Part 2 feel clunky and frustrating. I understand that the main character is not a trained soldier, but this really did not play pleasantly at all;
    - The story has the subtelty of a sledehammer. The writers really hammer their story points home, and are very in your face about what you should feel about what happens;
    - The ending was just complete and utter **** It dragged on for far too long, and it totally did not feel like fitting for a "The Last of Us" game. At least not if you know Part 1;

    Your first WTH moment will hit about an hour into the game while you are still in the Snowy mountains. From there it just gets even more ridiculous.

    The engine is top rate but the story is atrocious and you'll learn about 2 or 3 hours into this game that you will probably never play it again after you finish it. It's that inane and tedious. If you paid to watch a movie that had fantastic special effects but an awful story would you feel like you got what you paid for? It may even be a chore to watch through to the end. That defines this game perfectly.

    Beautifully made but with a Story that makes all that work totally pointless.

    Why Neil Druckmann?
    Why a revenge plot?
    Why do the playable characters make faces like someones farted all the time?
    Just feels like a Druckmann ego trip here and that will become more apparent as you progress the awful story.

    The sequel to the phenomenal action survival game of 2013, The Last of Us part 2 while long awaited has been...underwhelming to say the least.

    First, gameplay, very important in video games correct? Staying true to the original, it remains a standard cover based stealth style of playing. However this becomes a fault when the sequel offers little difference in gameplay compared to the original. Same mechanics, same strategy to surviving, same everything pretty well. There wasn't too much "new" things added to justify a sequel, which makes it seem more like a story expansion instead of a full sequel. Perhaps the oversaturation of the genre over the years has left this feeling stale? Which is all the more reason it feels like there should have been something different to distinguish itself from the other games in this genre.

    Next, visuals and sound design. As per it's predecessor, it's graphics and game design remains a staple example in it's generation as an echelon to reach, with amazing landscape design and animation. Sounds from the first have been enhance, such as sounds made by certain enemy types. Overall, great sound and visuals.

    Lastly, the thing that made the first such a huge success, the story. Without giving too much away, it lacks in comparison to the first, which was a given to be expected considering the first had one of the best stories in gaming history. Now, this does not mean the story is terrible, once again, it deals with tragic, sad, and endearing elements present in the first game, and expands upon the original, but the quality narrative didn't transfer as well to the sequel. Still a GOOD story, but not AS groundbreaking as the first.

    In conclusion, while it's debated on whether or not this is a "worthy sequel," it's a sequel none the less, and if you love the first, this is definitely worth a try.

    I am very mixed about this game, i don't know at all how i feel about it to be completely honest. At times the game is amazing, even making me cry at times. It has an overall great revenge story and the characters are all played beautifully well. However, there is bad too, and there is a lot. Around about half of the game actually. Abbie.

    The game nearly immediately kills off Joel, which I actually don't mind, as it makes for a great revenge arc, of Ellie running across the entirety of Seattle, hunting down Abbie. Throughout this time we learn more about Ellie and Deena's relationship which I enjoy a lot, all building up to the big moment where we kill Abbie's friends, and then look to kill Abbie. We return to the 'base' area, when suddenly Abbie barges through the door, shoots Tommy in the f***ing face, and then some little kid kills jesse. And then we get thrown into Abbies story. WHY THE F**CK WOULD I WANT TO PLAY AS SOME BIG OGRE WHO HAS LITERALLY KILLED ALL OF MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS. At this point the game lost me, i grudgingly continued to play, not enjoying one moment of it.

    I'm going to skip a bunch of the game here, but its basically just some Abbie stuff where she finds some kid and saves him, and move right onto the ending of the game. Ellie hunts down Abbie once again and finally finds her dying on a pole. The game obviously wants us to pity her, but i absolutely do not. We fight at a boat, and then right as we finally get to kill Abbie, Ellie stops, and lets her go. wtf. I understand that we're supposed to pity her but surely at least give us the choice to let her go or kill her!

    Overall, Ellies section: 4/5
    Abbies section: 1/5

I didn't finish the game (60%), quit playing when I realized that I would have to play for Abby (Joel's murderer) for 10 hours straight. NO!
    I still enjoyed the game, but it had much bigger potential, than what we got.

    It's a videogame example of how to not make a sequel. Carrying great soundtrack and visuals, this game suffers from incredibly poor plot and uninspired, clunky gameplay which leads to a path of destroying what was loved about the first one.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II is technically maybe the best game ever created. The combat and the character progression are incredible. The graphics are amazing, a NaughtyDog classic mark, and the details of the maps are astonishing. The AI is improved from the first one and the enemies are very well developed. The sensation of hitting an enemy on the head with the bow is still incredibly fun. As I said, everything technically is great, but everyone who plays TLOU plays it because of its story, and this is the part we should talk about.

    The beginning of the game reminds us the great story told on the first part, it is touching and exciting to see our favorites characters back again, especially on the guitar scenes. But the first problem appears with Joel. In the first part, Joel is skeptical, he distrusts everyone even Ellie in the beginning. But inexplicably he trusts in a stranger who is with her group, that they never heard about, in a camp beside their city. He and Tommy go there, and Joel is tortured and killed. But OK, although convenient, that is the motivation of the game. After that, Ellie parts in a journey of anger and revenge.
    Ellie´s story is actually nice, until the middle of the game. You understand her anger and as she, you want to kill Abby no matter what. The exploring in Seattle is fun and the encounters with her enemies are brutal and emotionally incredible, it seems like you are living that with her. But then starts Abby´s story.

    Before talking about Abby. I´d like to talk about the tsunami of politics implicit in the game. It seems like everything is about the politic opinion of the director. There are things forced and pass the limits in several times. Two girls having sex in the middle of a marijuana plantation in a house with a snowstorm in a zombie region, really? A girl who is discovering her sexuality, shaves her head and is pursued to the death by a religious cult (that is weirdly not explored at all in the game), like they have nothing better to worry about, like killing zombies, fighting for supplies, trying to survive a war with a highly armed rivals. Of course, homophobia is a problem in our society, but the game explores it in a wrong perspective, nothing is educative or awareness, it is all provocative and brutal. None of it is putted in the game in a soft way or scripturally convincing, everything is pushed, forced in an unnatural way. It looks like it was made to please a minor radical part of the society. Honestly, we don´t need this right now, our society is completely divided. Everything is politicized, even the brand of toilet paper. This is bad. Politics discussions are not healthy today, they are toxic and hurtful. Nobody will change their mind after playing TLOU II, it will only generate hate.
    In the first game, homosexually was treated in a perfect way. We know for seven years that Ellie is a lesbian and nobody cares, in the contrary, everybody loves her. Just because it is natural, the script is well written and it is logical that she be that way, just like Bill. In this game homosexually is treated in a provocative way, with nothing corroborating to the story, it is there just to provoke and stir up fights, adding nothing to the story. But enough of this political ****

    Now, Abby´s story. In short it is like in Harry Potter you being Voldemort. He has his reasons and, in his way, he would appear right, but it does not mean he is the hero or the good guy. It is not cool playing her side. I understand the view that the developers wanted to show, but it is not nice. The characters on this side are forgettable, with no charisma, boring. And the worst part, We have to hit Ellie, WE HAVE TO TRY TO KILL ELLIE!!! WTF??? She is a symbol of a generation, millions of people around the world loves her, we watched her growing up. I don´t want to kill her, I don´t want to play that part ever again. Maybe Abby´s part could be a DLC, I don´t know, but it just not seems right.
    Well, finally, the end of the story is at best disappointing. It is nice seeing Ellie living with Dina on an incredible ambiance, but the second part of the journey is nothing but a **** conclusion. At the end of the game, including both journeys (Seattle and St. Barbara), Ellie kills HUNDREDS of people, most of them INNOCENTS, hundreds of infected and several DOGS to arrive at the beach and LET ABBY GO. WTF?? In short, everything you do in the game, everyone that dies in the game, EVERY 30 **** HOURS YOU SPEND PLAYING THIS **** IS POINTLESS!!!
    At the end:
    Joel dies
    Jesse dies
    Tommy is **** up and lost his marriage
    Ellie doesn´t end with Dina
    Ellie doesn´t get her revenge
    Ellie can´t play guitar anymore.

    OK, I was not hoping for a good end, but I was not hoping to be so disappointed with this game, that I´ve waited for 7 years.

    Congratulations NaughtyDog, for the worst story you ever made

After THAT scene, they had the audacity to to make you play that second half of the game. I hoped that at least the ending would bring some kind of satisfaction, but it went worse than I imagined. I cannot rate the story more than 3/10 at best. But taking other things into consideration, it is definitely a piece of beauty. The scenery, voice-acting, music, graphics, gameplay.. everything other than the story is damn near perfect. It just adds to the bitterness of that story.. But to give it a fair rating, we have: graphics 10/10, music 10/10, sound 10/10, gameplay 9/10 and story 3/10. For that I'd rate it a 6. It's bad because this is a story driven game. You can have the best graphics in the world, but if the story is bad, you can't have a good game. If you don't care about the story, character development, political agenda that is present in the game, I suggest to give it a go. Expand

I also didn’t think that I would play half of the game for Abby unknown to me (I couldn’t penetrate this character). And the ending pleasantly surprised and even shocked me, on the one hand it looks like some kind of arthouse, but on the other it’s quite interesting and open to continue ending. But because of Ellie’s last act, I was furious because I thought that I had been playing for 30 hours in vain for such a result. As a result, we have a good game in technical terms, but from the plot side there are very large failures. Therefore, I put the game 7/10. Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 was a game I was looking forward to since it was announced. Once I heard the leaks i didn't wasn’t to play the game at all but once I watched a little bit of gameplay, I found that the game wasn’t nearly as bad as the leaks made it seem. However, the ending for the game and the Abby half of the game were not enjoyable. When I play games I look for the story in the moment of play. I don’t try to look for any messages the story is trying to convey or hidden messages and I think that’s why I liked The Last of Us Part 2 more than most people. But I still didn’t like the ending of the game or the Abby scenes after Joel’s death. I feel like the entire point of the game was ruined by the ending. Ellie wanted revenge on the people that killed Joel but in the end she doesn’t even follow through with it. I would have much rather had an ending in which when Ellie is drowning Abby, she keeps having flashbacks of Joel and reminding herself why she was doing this and why she hunted Abby down. Then when Abby is dead, the kid she was with says “Abby, get up” just like Ellie said to Joel in the beginning of the game. Then at the end of the game in the farmhouse, after finding nobody is there, there should be a small clip of Ellie on the hills near Jackson walking towards the city, so the game goes full circle with the revenge tale and we get some closure on Dina and JJ because the game never says what happens to them. In my playthrough of the game, I had the most enjoyment from the first half as Ellie and the few scenes as Abby. I thought gameplay was fun and the story was good as well. The second half as Abby is when I started to enjoy the game the least. The player is forced to play as a character that they do not like at all and then to top all of that off, the gets to live in the ending. She killed Joel, she killed Jesse, she would’ve killed Dina if the kid didn’t say anything, she almost killed Tommy, and she broke Ellie’s arm and the game is telling me that Ellie had a change of heart after all that Abby did. It is the most unsatisfying end to a game that is a sequel to one of the best written single player stories of all time: The Last of Us. One of the most iconic video game duos gets shattered in this game with the death of Joel and he doesn’t get justice. It’s so disappointing to see where the writers decided to go with this game. There apparently is going to be a multiplayer for the game (why it didn’t come out at launch is beyond me) and that is the only reason I will be keeping the game installed on my console. In the end, gameplay for me is an 8/10, it’s easy to understand and can be quite enjoyable especially if you like the first games gameplay. However it can be repetitive (with the stealth takedowns and such) but that doesn’t take away from the experience that much. Story is a solid 5/10. Joel’s death is poorly written. LegacyKillaHD in his YT video “The People Vs. The Last of Us Part 2” said it perfectly. Joel in the first game was all about caution and taught Ellie about it but in the sequel when it comes to a complete group of strangers he willingly gives up his actual name knowing that someone would eventually come after him for what he did. Not to repeat myself but the first half as Ellie is the best part of the game and will be the most enjoyable part for anyone who plays the game. The second half just tries to humanize Abby but that’s impossible to do to a character who just killed one of the most beloved protagonists in gaming. This game doesn’t deserve any praise in storytelling and it shows, people are petitioning for NaughtyDog to rewrite the story to the game and I don’t blame them. This game is a solid 5/10. The gameplay is there but the story isn’t and that’s the main reason people buy single player experiences. Expand

    --> Strengths
    - graphics
    - From the plot it is possible to extract a series of philosophical themes that remain relevant in the contemporary world. Ex: man is the wolf of man; politics; fragility of human life; selfishness;

    --> Weaknesses:
    - Plot. The plot is shallow, it doesn't have the same quality as the previous game. Basically, it's an arbitrary and meaningless revenge cycle.
    - Characters motivations and inconsistency with the world environment. It's so hard to get a favorable situation in game world, but for anything the characters throw everything away. Example: a character crosses the city in the middle of a civil war and kills 100 people on a journey that the chance of survival is minimal just to have a 30 minute sex with a guy that she rejected several times.
    - Combat. It didn't improve anything compared to the 2013 game.
    - Lack of consistency with physics. A 19-year-old girl weighing 110 pounds is stronger than a beefy 200 pounds guy. Ellie's body composition does not allow her to do a pull up, but in game she has Kratos' strength.
    - Forced inclusion of minority groups.

    The game is not the same. The developers did a great job, but they ruined everything with same-sex relationships, there is no pity for the characters. There are no jokes that were in the first part. Joel and Ellie had a special relationship, and the new Duo looks pathetic. But this game is a technological breakthrough and I would advise you to buy this game, the Studio produces great games

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all, I don't understand how people are giving this game a 0, but I understand why they gave a 10, because this game is not for everyone, not everyone would like it, i can understand that.

    1- The way they treated Joel in this game is very but very bad, if they wanted to kill him, atleast they would give him a decent death to the character;
    2- Buried one of the most iconic characters in a video game, because of a stupid narrative error;
    3- Abby's revenge and her character is very poorly achieved, which later dictated a very poor game thread;
    4- The male characters were totally demoted and pressed (hence the death of joel, jesse, isaac, manny and owen) and Tommy disappears almost the entire game.
    5- Narrative of this game is very badly achieved, playing with a character almost 10 hours, character that nobody or most would not like.

    A game that promised so much, in my opinion it turned out to be not only the video game with the worst narrative and message I've ever played, but also the game that most disappointed me in my 21 years of life. While The Last of Us 1 was iconic and the best game I have ever played, it is pure sadness that I rate this game on a note that I would never think to give.

    This game was everything I dreamed of, what a fantastic world, spoiled by a story and a very poorly achieved message.

    Gameplay- 9/10
    Audio- 10/10
    Soundtrack- 9/10
    Story- 2/10
    Visuals- 10/10

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First, let me explain the advantages of this game.
    The graphics were more advanced than the previous one, and the setting of a suitable place was outstanding.
    The actors' performances and the background music of the game were good, so the game characters' emotional descriptions were accurately conveyed.
    Compared to the previous work, the game seemed to have increased convenience and adjusted difficulty, and the elements that were seen in the Uncharted were added.
    It was okay to be able to play a variety of games accordingly.
    I really liked the scene that shows Joel's paternal love towards Ellie and the scene where she realized his preciousness after losing Joel.
    Obviously, I liked the production of the game on some of the situations.

    Now that I've told you all the strengths I have in mind, I'll tell you the disadvantages.
    setting destruction
    I kept showing Ellie to the player as a marksman, but I didn't get a hit in front of Abby.
    Dina needs a gun to be normal, but she'll be bowled down with a knife.
    In the first movie, Joel continues to show that he is a very cautious character, and especially in the ending, but in the second movie, he shows his carelessness and dies.
    And she doesn't even know why she killed Joel, but she's saving him.
    And Ellie had a gun, but she didn't shoot Abby.
    The player cannot concentrate on the game due to this setting destruction.

    Also, the game made fans feel unhappy as it had a composition that seemed to deny the first episode.
    1. Kill Joel, the main character of The Last of Us 1.
    2. That doesn't mean Joel has been doing well with Ellie.
    3. No one can avenge Joel, but rather the person around Ellie dies or gets hurt or leaves Ellie.
    4. Is Ellie so happy? Ellie has a trauma about Joel's death.

    Abby certainly had a reason, but it was a big mistake for the person who played The Last Of Us.
    The game tries to force a consensus by playing Evie who doesn't want to play to the player himself, but the player can't fully immerse himself.
    Abby first shows that there is a reason, but the story behind it seems to be only an excuse from the point of view of the person who played the first episode.
    Also, what made the player hit Ellie through Abby made the player feel the end of his squalor.
    If this game was a new ip for Naughty Dog, it would have focused on praise, but since it was a series of previous works, the score would naturally be lowered.
    Obviously the game quality was good, and it could have been better, but the order and composition of the game play and the destruction of probability lowered the value of the game.
    So I will give five points to this game.

Now when I played it. The first 2 hours were actually going fine then bam! They killed of Joel. The badass Joel that we knew dies like a p***y. I said okay, now at the end of the game as Ellie, we're going to take our revenge even though Ellie doesn't like Joel. After hours, we begin to play as the one who killed Joel for a big amount of time. Well done Naughty Dog! But even though they didn't add much to the gameplay, the details of the ones that we kill are well designed.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

Eviromental puzzles are pretty much gone, things are watered down from the first game and things are just overall janky/clunky. If you take the story away, you have what amounts to a basic, dull "Go here, do that, shoot sometimes, repeat" walking simulator.

    And without going into too much detail, as it's been said thousands of times already. Diversity and edge for the sake of diversity and edge doesn't work and is honestly why this game has tanked for me.

For me personally, I felt shattered after finishing the game and not as in "It was an amazing 10/10" way but as in a"I wish this was never made because now i cant sleep" kind of way, TLOU came out when i was 13, It was a very sad time in my life as i had lost so many loved ones and i was really not in a good place, but with TLOU i could really connect to the characters and the world, in some sense, they felt like a family to me. I know its weird because they're not real but i felt like I've lost something that i never had, I feel a true sense of misery, some might say i hate the game because there is Women or because of lgbtq or that im stupid but the truth is, i had to force myself to finish the game, I didnt want to go forward because i knew what was at the end, some of you might say "Thats what ND wanted you to feel!" but in all honesty, i felt these things because the characters that i knew and loved that saved my life in a time of darkness were no longer themselves, they were no longer what made them great, many will ridicule me and put me down for this but as a person who has learnt a lot of morals and lessons from a video game, it hurts seeing it happen, some decisions and dialogues are so out of character it hurt to watch and it felt that the writers just made them say/do these things so the story kept moving forward, I just didnt want to play anymore, it wasnt the gore, or seeing Ellie become everything she hated, It was the lack of choice and the meaningless killing that amounted to nothing, I dont know if i will ever play this game again, it hurts just looking at the disk and seeing her face, i truly loved these characters and now i feel nothing, as if there is no hope. The game isnt a zero but it certainly isnt a ten.

    In my opinion the game is a reflection of this quote from Ellie.

    "...Okay..."

    5.3/10

    I really wanted to love this game so badly but i just can't, I wish i had never seen it, I wish it had never been made. The ending, (though many people will surely post their many metaphorical assumptions about it) sealed the deal for me.

    And so I've dug two graves,

    one grave for TLOU2 and the other for me.

    For now, I dont know what to do, i feel an insatiable sense of sadness on coming.

    Ill leave these final quotes that i remember everyday from Ellie.

    "Everyone I Have Cared For Has Either Died Or Left Me. Everyone…Except For You."

    "Let's See, Scorpions Are Pretty Creepy. Ummm, Being By Myself. I'm Scared Of Ending Up Alone. What About You?"

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The writing was bad but technically this game is a masterpiece. Good acting, but character’s actions are inconsistent with anything we have learned in zombie apocalypse media and even TLOU Part I. The idea of “trust no one and especially strangers” is thrown out the window. All new characters are forgettable and some get killed off so unceremoniously it was laughable like something akin to the Walking Dead TV show. The only new characters that were redeemable were Abby and Isaac. The latter of which is barely given any character development. Abby’s actor is great and that should not be ignored because of the sub par writing. If you take the writing away, this game is great. But when you are doing a sequel to one of the best written games of all time it’s impossible not to consider it in rating this game. I’m glad I played it without having it spoiled for me, I think it did help me appreciate some of the story moments more. I believe if you did read the spoilers it will hinder your first experience with the game for sure. Expand

    A disastrous disappointment:
    The Last Of Us Part 2 is a beautiful looking game albeit a narrative failure. With improved gameplay and visuals, the game is beautiful to look at and exploration is incredibly immersive. However, the story is a complete flop which disregards and disrespects the fans that made the first game what it is. The game feels more like the final part in a trilogy more

    The Last Of Us Part 2 is a beautiful looking game albeit a narrative failure. With improved gameplay and visuals, the game is beautiful to look at and exploration is incredibly immersive. However, the story is a complete flop which disregards and disrespects the fans that made the first game what it is. The game feels more like the final part in a trilogy more than part 2. There are five years of untapped potential that was completely wasted and confined to 2 hours worth of flashbacks. It’s a bad sign when the flashbacks that have very little gameplay are better than the actual story. Naughty Dog have taken what made the first game amazing and a storytelling masterpiece and turned it into a plot hole filled disrespectful and nasty game which even messes up its own message: That violence and revenge is wrong. Characters are wasted and not fully developed. New characters are bland and don’t serve any purpos.

    A massive disappointment for anyone who plays, Even The visuals and voice performances can’t save you from wanting to put down the controller after half way through. This is Game of Thrones season 8 levels of writing/fan fiction.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
