Solid game in my opinion. The set pieces are gorgeous and I enjoyed the acting. The atmosphere in several levels is great.

However the pacing is in this game is really bad. Three to five hours less would have improved the quality of the game. Also some plot armors were just insane and the story overall wasn't really enjoyable to me.

The Last Of Us The Revenge Of NPC".

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's start with the good stuff. this game looks amazing, sounds amazing and plays smoothly. transitions are handled well and the use of the camera to show the game world and set the scenes is well executed.

there's plenty to like, being in that world again, discovering more about it and the characters in it. the gameplay is fun though a bit comic, even on hard you have plenty of time before detection and both characters are basically rambo which just feels kinda wrong.

Many things don't make sense in the Last of Us Part II. below I'll refer to a small part of them.

Sadly, it fails right out of the gate (yes, Joel. the how of it not the why). I kept playing and being excited hoping things will make sense or be more meaningful later on. it didn't pan out. the game kept forcing me to accept what it presented me with but it never sold me on it.

By the time I got to play Abby (after the initial intro) it was all very obvious. Playing her just made her seem more of an ass to me.

she has this revenge goal that survives everything she has gone through sine that day, which seems odd considering how immediate and deadly life is in the game. she has the life of a soldier fighting for the WLF, she has relative safety and comfort. the WLF is presented like this well off para-military organization. their beef with the scars makes less sense considering both groups and the world they are in.

in short, it seems like Abby (that voice, lol) went out of her way to gather a group of people to go trek across the country, leaving their current group the WLF, to go brutally murder the person who murdered her father and triggers a series of events that sees most of the new characters in the story dead.

another thing that stood out was the whole Ellie is this crazy revenge driven girl now with an amazing ability to straight up murder everything in her path except when the plot needs her to be this child who didn't actually mean to hurt anyone. her conviction falters for no good reason.
her losing her fingers in the final fight was another "punch" to who she portrayed as for most of the game and I can only assume it was done to again shock players with a "twist" and "really" sell their point as the guitar scene shows later.

I got no problem with the concepts or even Joel's death in the very beginning (except how he dies) or with how silly characters act and how outside their character they seem to act but I do got a problem with being force-fed a story and being "told" how to feel by the game.

That is only part of how a great looking game with awesome sound design, music, characters and a lot of effort can fall flat trying to deliver the story which to me is the *main* selling point and the reason to play.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played the hell out of TLOU. I bought it for PS3 and then the remaster when it came out for PS4. All told I must have played it from beginning to end at least 10 times. Like most who played TLOU, I couldn't wait for TLOU2. I watched each trailer as it was released with goosebumps and growing anticipation. The love I had for the first would certainly carry over to the second. Sure, some things had changed at Naughty Dog but the core was still there and they loved Joel and Ellie as much as any of us…right?

Let's start with Joel. I kind of thought he might die at some point, likely in a way that was heroic and meaningful (maybe stepping in front of an infected or a WLF bullet to save Ellie?), but Ellie's rampage of revenge (as highlighted in the trailers) must have been fueled by something else, right? I mean, she was joined by Joel on her quest (or at least that's what the trailers deceptively showed, a flat out lie from Naughty Dog that we all believed). I mean, ND must have had discussions about whether people would dislike the game because Joel plays such a small part and decided “Let's trick the fans into thinking he has a much bigger part! They’ll forgive us when they see how progressive the game is!” Instead the only Joel we see for the rest of the game is in flashbacks, most of which show a deteriorated relationship between he and Ellie. Joel from TLOU wasn’t perfect, but he deserved far better (as did we).

Let's move on to Abby. Abby, the faithful soldier and hero of the WLF, a bloodthirsty machine fueled entirely by the thought of taking revenge on the man who killed her father. I'm fine with Abby's motives but being forced to play as Abby for countless hours was a laughable attempt by ND to trick the player into sympathizing with Joel's murderer.

What ND wanted you to see: Aww, she lost her father. Aww, look at her play with the doggies. Aww, she and Owen used to be so happy. Aww, she's helping the Scar kids. Aww, she spared Ellie and Dina. She’s totally redeemable!

What I saw: Umm, she mercilessly tortured and killed Joel right after he literally saved her life. Umm, she just had sex with Owen who has a baby on the way. Umm, she just went Rambo on all of her friends and fellow soldiers at the WLF the second they threatened Lev's life. Umm, she was ready to slit Dina’s throat until Lev intervened. Mel was right, Abby really is a piece of ****

Now for the biggest disappointment, Ellie herself. Ellie, who swore that she would make them all pay, that she would kill every last one of them for what they did to Joel. This is the same Ellie who killed countless WLFs (including killing pregnant Mel and torturing Nora before also killing her), Scars, Rattlers and doggies to get to Abby with barely an inkling of remorse. Then in the end she has an epiphany and realizes that revenge is wrong and she just doesn’t have it in her to kill Abby (you know, the one who actually did the torturing and killing). She also left Dina and their baby alone with barely a thought to go after Abby, even though she knew Dina may not be there when she returned. She didn’t honor Joel’s memory by sparing Abby, she merely affirmed that his life and everything that led up to that moment from the time she left Jackson meant nothing. She killed all those people for nothing. Jesse died for nothing. Tommy was maimed for nothing. Dina and the baby are gone for nothing. Hell, she even lost a couple of fingers for nothing. Ellie, you are also a piece of ****

I can’t fathom why so many critics are hailing this game as a “masterpiece”. Did they actually play it? How long did they play it? Are they just rewarding Naughty Dog for being so “progressive”? I grant that the game is beautiful and most of the actual gameplay was enjoyable but in the end poor writing has left the franchise in shambles. ND will never admit that they’ve done anything wrong, and for some reason a lot of people defend them, but I can’t wait to see TLOU2 remastered flop when it hits PS5, and when the trailer for TLOU3 inevitably drops in a couple of years, I won’t pay it any attention. I’ll be back in Boston with Joel and Ellie.

What made The Last of Us such a special game was the poignant relationship between Ellie and Joel. The Last of Us part II fails to build on it and ultimately fails to give the fans what they desire - the continuity of a poignant relationship. Additional issues with the storyline are character verisimilitude, profligate missions, and poor pacing. It’s clear telling from the stunning graphics, character dialogue, and duration of the game that Naughty Dog spent a lot of time on development. While it is a good game, scores of 9 and above and 5 and below should be considered speculative and should be read with caution. Hopefully the prequel will be a game that gives the fans more of what they want. Expand

As a stand-alone game, it would have been a good 'depressing' game (I'm not opposed to those), but still not great. This didn't feel like a sequel, at all. Ellie didn't feel like Ellie, Joel didn't feel like Joel, the whole universe just didn't feel like the original and as everyone has mentioned - character development and the sequence of events is just poorly executed and you're just left feeling frustrated being forced into playing characters you don't want to play, carrying out actions you don't want to carry out - all because the writers are hell-bent on TELLING you to feel a certain way - which ultimately has the opposite of the intended effect and thus takes you out of the immersion which the original game did so well.

I understand what they were trying to do, but if they would have given the fans their cake to eat (having Joel and Ellie with more airtime/character development), while also implementing a shock/revenge twist plot further down the line - everyone would have been happy. Hopefully in another 7 years if there's a part 3 they'll start to get more user feedback before committing to the storyline (and get another director or bring Bruce Straley back).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story betrays its writers’ assumptions about revenge, and they are mistaken. This is at the core of what is causing such a negative reaction from so many people. The way Joel died was a deep humiliation to Ellie. I could accept Joel dying, but having Ellie be held down and forced to watch like that was unforgivable. I wanted revenge and I felt no guilt about wanting revenge at any time. I hadn’t even played TLOU1, but I wanted Abby to die screaming after what she did. I’m gay myself, and I loved the inclusion of Lesbian and Transgender characters. I loved Abby’s representation as a cis-gender, heterosexual, and yet gender-nonconforming individual. The gameplay was excellent and the visuals were stunning. Nonetheless, no amount of zebras, dogs, kids, or any of that was ever going to cause me to empathize with Abby. She should have at least been fully humiliated by Ellie if they weren’t going to let us have the satisfaction of killing her. I’ve read quotes from people involved in the making of the game saying that Ellie chose not to finish drowning Abby because of the part of her that “still has some humanity”, but these people clearly do not understand humanity. They seem to want to villify revenge and depict it as unsatisfying, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Revenge is a natural, baked-in part of what it means to be human. If you read a bit about what really happens in intertribal violence, you may realize that revenge is a very deeply ingrained part of human nature. If you have ever experienced revenge, then you know that it is in fact very satisfying to get someone back after they’ve humiliated you. This story subjects you to the humiliation and murder of characters you identify with in a way that elicits a very natural desire for revenge, and then spends much of its remaining time trying to get you to feel empathy for the humiliators instead of giving you the revenge it has made you want. Probably with most humans, the writers are playing a losing game. I loved the gameplay but the story certainly lost that game with me. I still want Abby to be fully, deeply humiliated and then killed. I have regrets or remorse about wanting that, either. The game did succeed in making me want to see Abby suffer. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us is quite a good game but it has an incredible amount of minus and that's why I give it seven out of ten. Game-play is very good and I enjoyed the features from first game and the newly added ones. I'm not saying that the game is technically perfect because it's not. It happened to me several times, for example, that a ladder got stuck in my body and I could walk with it in complete comfort. In any case, these small mistakes could be overlooked if the story of the game was not worth it at all. Don't get me wrong, the idea of playing as Abby isn't the worst. But when Joel was killed before Ellie's eyes at the beginning of the game, I thought the game would be about revenge and how she would cope and survive outside on her own. Which was partly true, but only partly. I really didn't want to play for Abby from the middle of the game, and find out she had the right to kill Joel. And not to mention about that end. If Ellie had endured it all and sacrificed so much, why the hell didn't she kill her? (I don't want to offend anyone with this next opinion) And please, why do you have to put all those things around gay and trans gender people there? I understand that every second game or movie has it today, but don't you think it would be more original not to have it there? When it all takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, I don't think people would deal with it and just try to survive. In any case, at least for Elie, it can be understood, because the whole story DLC Left Behind focused on it. Who did not play, I highly recommend. In the end, I would sum it up so that the game-play itself is quite good, but I personally just don't like the story. So as I called it, I give the game seven out of ten. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Attention: spoilers!
First: the graphics are amazing. It plays like the first part. The mechanics and the controls are almost the same. Which isn't bad, because it feels good. I really enjoyed the beginning of the game. Later the game forces you to play Abby, which you probably hate, after what she has done. The more you learn about her, the more sympathy you get for her though. The longer I played, the more I realized that Ellie is the bad guy in that story.

The game forces you to do some things you don't like doing, like play a fight between Ellie and Abby. If the game wanted to achieve the bad feeling you get, while you fight, it did very well. I personally didn't like that very much and it feels weird to fight a character, you played, you feel for and you don't want to kill. The fight ends with Abby sparing Elies and Dina's live. At this point you could have ended the game, what happens after this, isn't really interesting and doesn't change the outcome. At this point, I just wanted the game to be over. But it kept going. And made me hate Ellie.
The end wasn't really satisfying, but I still am happy that I finally finished it.

The game is not as bad, as many reviews say it is and overall I enjoyed it. But there are some problems for me personally. Sometimes the game was really predictable. Sometimes you could tell that around the next corner a cutscene with a surprise attack is waiting, or that someone dies. But sometimes it really is unpredictable and I had 1 or 2 "wait what!?" moments. I think the game is a bit too long. In my opinion, there were too many jump scares. I know what I was getting, when I bought the game. A bit of horror is good. But jump scares are cheap. That is my opinion, if you like this kind of stuff, this is for you. If not, you're going to have a bad time.

What makes me really mad is that the story starts off really strong at its first 3 hours and was very emotional but the writers started shoehorning badly written characters into the game after an emotional scene and the quality slowly decreased. Some lines felt unatural and robotic. The best moments in story for me are scenes with Joel and Ellie. I feel like this could all be avoided if the writers gave these characters more time in the oven. They had loads of potential but the writers didn't deliver.  The acting on the other hand is very amazing and I think it is safe to say that this game has the best acting ever in a video game. If the story was as good as the game. I would have no complaints right now. Gameplay wise it is TLOU1's gameplay but more polished. No new bells and whistles. The new features they added are rarely used. However, the gameplay is still satisfying. It still gives you an epic feeling after clutching your way out of a group strong enemies with little to no ammo or weapons to fight back with. There is a major pacing problem in the gameplay for the first 6 hours or so. The first 6 hours are basically a long tutorial without that much gameplay. On the story side, everything was worse. Too many forgettable characters popping up everywhere, that the story wanted you to care about no matter what and tried so, so hard to humanise. They also tried to make give Abby-Lev relationship as much weight as the original duo, Joel-Ellie, but failed miserably first and foremost because that relationship developed in the span of three days or so, and that's kind of unrealistic. Abby going on a killing spree against the people she'd been living with most of her life, to protect a kid she's just met from a faction she's been conditioned to hate and trained to kill is definitely the cherry on top of this mess of a story. The pacing was all over the place, leaving you on a cliffhanger for almost half of the game. Characters making stupid and highly questionable choices, as if they forgot what a world they're living in and in complete discord with what they were in the first game is a lazy way to try and make the point of the story valid. Story aside, this game was extremely unenjoyable simply because they got rid of the stealth I loved so much in the first game, that allowed you to choose whether to sneak past or kill the threats. Extremely disappointed by part 2 and the time I spent playing this was 100% wasted. Expand

Would have rather seen Joel's and Ellie's story together. I don't mind if certain characters are treated. But ND has forgotten how important the 1st part was for many!

The enemies of the game just act as "bad guys" I wanted more story for them!
I wanted a full story on Seraphites, The rattlers and Isaac.
The characters of this game are unimportant and I didn't feel anything about any of them because the game didn't even try to develop them.
Shame as I really started to like Abby the story ended without anything powerful happening. I did not feel anything about the characters except the dynamic of Lev Abby . If there was more of that the game would be much better. Also a better first impression of Abby would have made the character more likeable but what can we do.

The story was told so wrongly and with wrong decisions that it ruined me while I was playing. By the way, I have no problem with the subject, but it is impossible to focus because the characters are too contradictory to them and at the end I said 'oh it's over'. So what happened at the end of the first game: 'We would have done the same thing, too. Because this world, which ruthlessly took our daughter from us, gives us another opportunity to save the life of a girl, and this is at all costs. So, long story short, while we are playing the game, we have to put ourselves in the place of the character in the script, while we are between the two characters. Maybe that's what is wanted, but it's never the right thing. The most important element of a sequel should not destroy what made it attractive in the previous story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm very sad to write this review, but this was probably the biggest disappointment in my entire gaming life (beside Watch Dogs). I want to say something very clear: the animations and the settings are absolutely fantastic, it looks like a movie. I've never seen something like this and I really loved it. The huge and terrible problem is the story and don't get me wrong, it has nothing to do with LGBT or things like these (I'm a LGBT supporter). The first 10 hours are actually good, but then there is an awful twist of events that completely broke the atmosphere and took me out of the game: you literally start playing as someone else. Not only, but as the woman that killed Joel and was the biggest enemy in the first half. It's ridiculous. I couldn't empathize with her, I couldn't care less about her issues or her friends and I couldn't play without thinking "what the hell is this? When is it coming to an end?". If I have an experience like this while watching a movie or playing a game, it's over. At least for me, I couldn't force myself to enjoy it. It's terrible. The whole second half is basically a useless filler that has no purpose except forcing you to like a character and a situation. It's boring, it's repetitive (you get into trouble constantly just to get to 25 hours of longevity) and it's completely out of context. Then, when you get to the ending there is another slap in your face (that's also absolutely predicable actually. After killing dozens (including dogs and a pregnant woman), Ellie just chooses to spare Abby's life because "revenge is wrong". You read it right. The game is based on a revenge story, but Neil Druckmann pulls the Uno Reverse Card to feed you trivial rhetoric after 25 hours of waiting. I'm sorry but to me this is unacceptable. This game really has a fantastic gameplay and superb graphics and animations, but that's it. It's a shame. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us 2 drags Ellie and Joel through the dirt. It spends its opening killing off Joel like he is nothing in exchange for revenge story fuel with the revenge story that follows making Ellie into an irrational hateable killer. I'm fine with naughty dog turning her into the bad guy but her character development is such a mess and is way too big of a leap as she irrationally and brutally kills around hundred without any sympathy and even namecalling as they die and all this is meant to be fueled by a broken relationship with a man who she knows is this irredeemable monster. besides all this, ellies side of the story isn't particularly interesting as she simply jumps from location to location looking for someone to lead her to Abby. The second half of the game following Abby was a lot more enjoyable as we see her perspective and shows how she is dealing with the guilt of killing Joel as she searches for redemption by helping Lev and Yara. It did get a little sloppy near the end when she killed some of her wolf friends which felt a bit unjustifiably evil even if it was in self-defense but overall Abby's story was pretty good. It all leads to an ending that feels pretty underwhelming and pointless with Abby and Ellie just parting ways which wouldn't be as bad as it was if Ellie didn't literally kill 100 people to get to Abby.

In terms of gameplay, the combat is pretty great. It's brutal and tense as you play naughty dog perfected cat and mouse gameplay with the enemy, however, there is only really a few hours of combat with most of the game consisting of story and a terrible looting and exploration system which consists of just going into rooms and mashing triangle.

Besides gameplay and story, the game looks and sounds great with beautifully detailed environments and great music to match.

Lastly, the companions in this game are pretty uninteresting, Manny and Jesse practically do nothing and die, Diana is too similar to Ellie and is basically a yes man to her horrific actions. The only good ones are Lev and Yara who provide an interesting and engaging story on abbys side.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

    Abby did nothing wrong.
    Druckman lo arruinaste.

Part 2 is really enjoyable, but doesn't quite hit the mark that the first did. I felt like I was being compelled to like the characters, even though I didn't. The story showed horrific actions of one group, then later tried to make you connect with them. When certain people died, the game wanted you to sympathize for them, but really I couldn't have cared less. I know it sounds like I'm a hollow human being, and there are two sides to every story, but that is the problem with rushing character development. When you've connected with the original characters for so long in a masterfully done game, only for new forced connections to be made, it just makes you roll your eyes and trudge through the rest in order to get closure.

I like to dwell for a while after completing story driven works. Part 2, in many ways does not make sense. I get the direction the writers were going, but I honestly do not believe people would act in the way that they did in the game. Multiple times I had a suspension of disbelief, only to look back at what happened and realize that it didn't make sense.

The combat is an improvement for sure, but once you've beat the game I don't think there is any reason to go back. I actually laughed when the game told me there was a NewGame+ mode.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last Of Us Part II isn't really concerned with the idea of combat, though its admittedly great-lasered-down gameplay would make you believe otherwise. It mostly decides to wrestle against a multitude of heavy, capital-I Important topics instead, drowning its already submerged dead weight of self-seriousness with one of the bleakest, most uncompromising plot structures I've seen for a blockbuster PS4 game. Mostly, I found it hard to watch, with the inherent revenge thread being one-upped by frequent pulpy lashings of blood among the many encounters along the way in an ill-fated attempt at discouraging revenge, but I also was slapped senseless by the silliness of it all, and whether this even works as effective allegory.

it's a shame to watch as all of the ambition and technical beauty on display here goes wildly underserved by its moral simplicity. Why is this as thorny as your typical Oscar drama? Remember at the end of the previous game when Joel set a dangerous precedent by lying to his surrogate daughter Ellie to her face? Where's that? Well, mostly sideline in favor of the least interesting plotline. There are only so many slow, agonizing Important, dramatic moments about family, revenge, and death you can take before they all start to blur, and unfortunately, this has very little to offer beyond them. So unbelievably gorgeous tho.

I've only finished playing this game a week ago and i feel betrayed. The gameplay was significantly improved over the years, guns felt more realistic and graphics sometimes was astonishing. BUT the story… Without comparison with the first part i would give it at least a 6/10, however unfortunately for Naughty dog, it exists. I'm studying as a scriptwriter and many moves in the second game are bloody awful. For example the Joel's death was written so poorly. He just died and that was kind of it. Yes, he could've died in reality like this but then it's not a great story. I don't think you'd like to watch me sit in the corner of the room and write scenarios for hours. They could've made his death much better. for example: after a tough fight Joel gets bitten while they're travelling and has to make sure that Ellie is safe before he eventually kills himself. It took me about 2 minutes to think about something mor exciting than 'he just dies lol'. After that begins the good old revenge quest, which is. Now i'd like to have little talk about Abby. I wanted to kill myself and my entire family when this creature was introduced. She is nothing of a character. Not only are her motivations wasted but she also looks like a tyler1, thus making her seem like a joke. You can clearly see that they underpaid a scriptwriter because there wasn't a lot of effort in making this garbage. Now i'll just state that the ending is some Naruto type of thing. I sure didn't expect it but not in a good way.

    So are there any positives?
But of course. The graphics looks astonishing, they weapons feel more real, even the common enemies have more personality. Locations are not that linear and some mechanics feel more polished. Unfortunately stealth is still lower than the deus ex human revolution level. That's kind of it.

In conclusion i have to admit the fact that if you play a game for a gameplay and not for a story this might be your pick. However if you want a great and entertaining story, just play death stranding or cyberpunk 2077.

The stealth in this game is basic as hell and the fact that people are giving this a 10/10 gameplay is just hilarious to me. For a 25-30 hour game, the gameplay is not deep enough to supply you with that much entertainment for so long. The amount of choices you have to kill enemy groups are definitely not limited but again is not enough to entertain you for so long. The lack of puzzles is really daunting, other than doing the decent stealth, all you do is walk around this beautiful world and spam triangle mindlessly to loot stuff, that's it. There is no puzzles to enhanced the game's repetition and the combat from the first 4 hours till the last 2 hours is almost unrecognizable other than the new guns that does not change the gameplay loop at all. If this game was a tight 16-18 hour long game I would excuse a lot of these issues but it is not, the game felt repetitive and a straight up drag to play.
The only problem I have with the story is that instead of making the story entirely around the characters, they made he story entirely around the message it was trying to tell. You can find characters doing borderline out of character or even stupid things just for the sake of the plot and the message is pretty elementary level.
Other than that, still a pretty good game and I recommend it on sale

This game is a bad joke, I will try to express it well in words so that I don't lack the truth and not be a bad character, because the game also has good things.

Let's start with the good things, as the game is not entirely bad:

-The graphics of this game are so good, I think it was one of the games that pushed the PS4 to the limit.

    - The prologue of the game starts very well because it gives that feeling that you are witnessing the return of the story of Joel and Ellie.

    - The whole ambience of the game, in general, is very impressive, from the destroyed cars to the abandoned buildings. At that point it was something that the second game really did justice to the first game.

-The characters, at least for the most part, are so well developed, that even Ellie and Dina's romance / relationship works very well, and you can see that the two really love each other.

    - It is noticeable that although the gameplay is the same as the first game, but that it still works and that it has been improved and increased.

    - The sound effects are much more realistic compared to the first game, which helps with immersion.

    - Facial expressions are one of the best tapes ever in the gaming industry.

    - The soundtrack, which, although not very present, is melancholy, but which is still good.

    And finally...

    - The performance of the actors is spectacular, you can see that everyone gave their all to make these characters look more human.

Okay, but now we go to the negative points of the game, and this time (with Spoilers)

    - After the sudden death of Joel, who was murdered by a woman who until that moment, UNKNOWN. The player plays for 12 to 13 hours straight without knowing why Joel died that way for no reason, but okay.

IN A LITTLE WHILE I WILL FINISH MY CRITICISM, I WILL JUST TAKE A BREAK FOR NOW. :()

The best game so far. Graphic is amazing, story is amazing, characters are amazing, gameplay is amazing. The story is immersive and everytime you play is a hit in your stomach. Not for fragile people. The game force you to fight against your hate and prejudice, and also betray you. The game is your villain itself.

So I got this game for like $10 and I still think it's just wasted money. The story is just bad, no character development, no arch, the fun factor is basically gone (there are minor exceptions, like fighting against bloaters, etc.). The SJW agenda is all over the place. The only thing which is better is combat, but that's it.

The first half of the game sees you playing as Ellie. All the moments you play as Ellie are fantastic, 10/10. You get set up with a great set of characters, some new some old. The pacing is perfect. It's intense, scary, and fun. That paired with the incredible visuals and gameplay makes for the greatest gaming experience ever. About 11 hours in you switch characters and start playing as the main enemy of the game, Abby. This character change is something that Naughty Dog should've mentioned before the game was released. From here the game falls quickly in quality. After being left on a cliffhanger with Ellie you're forced to play the next 7 hours as this character Abby. Not only is she a one-dimensional character, but the rest of the supporting characters in this section are also incredibly boring. The whole time you really just cant stop thinking about Ellie and the rest of the characters from the first half. While playing as Abby, you go back to the start of the game and play through the events from the enemy's point of view. In between, Naughty Dog tries to make you understand and like Abby's character more by adding unnecessary subplots of her saving useless characters and mixing in a bunch of playable cutscenes showing an extremely boring and cringe-worthy love story between her and another character. This makes the second half very tedious, and it almost feels like a chore to complete. Don't get me wrong, Abby's backstory is extremely important to the overall story, and ties in perfectly to the first game, but she's better off as a non-playable villain, not the main character for half of the most anticipated game in years. Overall, The Last of Us Part 2 is not a bad game and is worth playing through once, but it will come as a disappointment to die hard fans of the series. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us: Part 2 was (obviously) the sequel to the acclaimed The Last of Us 1

Overall, the game has simply amazing graphics.
Everything about it is beautiful, whether the setting, the characters, EVERYTHING is beautiful and well-crafted

However, its main downsides are a generic gameplay, not much different from other common stealth actions.

Other than that, what hurts most is the story, totally poorly written and convenient

The aim of the game is to show how ellie dealt with Joel's murder, how she got revenge and how it harmed her and everyone around her.
Looking at it, the plot looks well worked, as the impressive thing in the first game was to take at least one generic plot and literally revolutionize it.
However, this is not the case in TLOU 2, as the plot is very shallow, the characters are poorly developed, most of them enter and soon after become dead weight to the plot, and the fact that the game has two campaigns has greatly harmed the development of Ellie's campaign, since there was no time to do a good development for the character, and they ended up leaving all of her motivations shallow and meaninglessThe problem with the game was the fact that there were too many characters in the plot, which had room to develop, but ended up being useless in the plot due to very convenient events.
It's quite different from the first game, which focused solely on the story of Joel and Ellie, which gave the game a lot of time to develop them.

And of course one of the WORST things about this game: the meaning and message that Naughty Dog wanted to convey, which is a simple phrase taught by our parents when we were kids: Violence / Revenge is not good and it hurts others

They try to get that message across, but fail miserably because: during the last fight between Abby and Ellie, Ellie somehow ends up not killing Abby, and they kind of become "friends"
That's where the issue of revenge comes in, because at that moment they demonstrated the purpose of the plot. But do they fail because Ellie has committed the greatest revenge possible: killing all of Abby's friends and then leaving Abby alive to live with it for the rest of her life? What is the meaning of the message that the game wants to convey?

    Overall, 6/10
TLOU 2 is graphically beautiful, but lacks gameplay and story, things it should get more right...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didnt wanted to write anything untill I complete game and now here I am after finishing it - I admit little late than most of gamers but I bought my console only recently.

Anyway I like it and I dont like it. In techicall, graphic and gameplay terms its thumbs up definately since its a massive improvement but unfortunately thats where all good stuff ends. In terms of a storyline which was mere soul of a game its broken and shattered. Murdering Joel in a gruesome way isnt the only reason for my words. Of course like many across the world I was enraged with his early kill but as much as the game progressed later on I didnt felt angry but only like shallow, empty and out of the juice. I barely had strenght to finish it.
Playing with Abby is iritating I agree but what angered me more is the attempt after attempt after attempt to humanise her and forced attempts and manipulation on us to sympathise with her actions. Quick and sloppy try with copy/paste friendship like Joel/Ellie was Abby/Lev but it wasnt convincing and we didnt took that bait.
Abby had a reason to kill Joel cuz he killed her father you say ? That same Joel saved Abbie's life when she faced inevitable death and thats the great point how much of a monster is created inside that "girl" who almost looks like a guy with her physics.
On the other side, with almost desperate attempt to convince us that Abby is a good person, they ruined Ellie's character by making her a ruthless murderous monster on a revenge rampage. We play with older Ellie and younger Ellie in flashbacks, we play with older Abby and younger Abby in flashbacks as well and il that confusion and multiphase storyline we have some short conversations with characters seriosly lacking conversation abilites.
Specially in those criticall situations where Joel needs to explain what happened in hospitall or when they talk about making peace in the end. It was just left with "huh" in my head. If I were Joel or Ellie that conversation would last like half an hour or hour - in my opinion such criticall situations just CANT be solver in 2-3 sentences and just like "ok see you around". NO NO and NO !

We have a war between big factions - WLF - Wolves which was Abby's faction and Scars or Seraphites where Lev used to belong. The way they were detailed was a positive also.

And when finally an oportunity for clash between Abby and Eliie happened, it was just... dont kill Dina shes pragnant and than Abby was like- meh "dont ever let me see you again" and they just walk separate ways - at that point I didnt care what will happen to both of them. And after that completely unnesecery and pointless 2nd attempt after crippled Tommy instructed Ellie where was Abby last seen. She than left the peace at the farmland with her girlfriend Dina and baby she delivered, having a serious PTSD and nightmares from what happened in Seatle to again chase Abby who was captured by another (almost random) group of villains who appear at the very end with no reason or point at all.
By the time Ellie gets there Abby looks miserable, skinny and left to die slowly tied high on a pillar, Lev also. Both of them ruined physically and mentally they do one last battle in which again illogically Ellie has a backpack full of guns and arms but she wants to fight like with a pocket knife with Abby... and at the end when she had oportunity to drown her in a water she had sudden call in from humanity and spared her. No word said no conversation, no nothing. She just left her and sent her away in "just go away" manner. And at the end of the game I felt empty, dissapointed, shallowed, wondering why the hell am I played it when nothing was solved or done ?
The only message that made any sense in this whole mess of a story would be "revenge destroys everything and anyone on its path including the one doing it"
And that was the only outcome I could see - Ellie destroyed both mentally emotionally and physically, Abby also devastated, destroyed in every way, and so are we - the people played this game. I personally felt drained, empty, kinda sad, and dissapointed after finishing the game.
5 out of 10 was score "at best" which I could give for the game and mostly for tech/graph/gameplay elements. The rest is just much weaker than the first game and storyline shattered between past and present.
Not a hate but for 7 years waiting it should be much more quality story and for 3rd sequal its enourmous pressure on creative team to regain the glory and shine from the 1st part. In my opinion game needs soft reset with both Ellie and Abby gone (killed off screen, semi-retired or just put in the drawer) with maybe some new fresh faces who will build up the story from the rubble. In this situation I see pulling off Ellie from the state she was in a difficult task and after huge mental breakdown and hard PTSD I dont see the reason for her going into action again.
All the best to TLOU fans out there ! :)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.
