    - story, sorry Niel, I don't get why first game need a sequel and part two don't answer that question, so writing is really bad, simple, boring, if you pretend what you big, it's only pretend, but for nouthy dog game it's normal what'd you expect? huh, except last of us part one - have good characters and chemistry, good side characters, good side story, part two shoot herself in both legs and scream come and get me, not memorable story and characters.

    - characters and building relation , don't remember any of it except E and J flashback, don't care about Abby or her crew, or dogs whatever, it's so miserable for developers to do such premitive kicks.

    - bad direction from Niel and his vision, thanks for the first, and disrespect for part two.

And I'm referring to the people that actually played the game instead of watching some cutscenes only. And what's wrong with those that gave score on first day? too much time on their hands?
Regarding the gameplay, I'm sure it's safe to say that it's superb compared to games out there. I was completely amazed by how dynamic the animation was but still the AI could've been better.

Extremely average. What made the original interesting was the choice at the end, it was cool to play a game where you were the bad guy; but the "wrong" decision Joel made at the end of the first game was a decision most people would make.

Extremely average. What made the original interesting was the choice at the end, it was cool to play a game where you were the bad guy; but the "wrong" decision Joel made at the end of the first game was a decision most people would make.

The way Part 2 sets up the story within the first 3 hours makes it seem like a revenge story, but by the end it becomes something completely different, and Ellie's motivations are a little odd, with an ultimately unsatisfying end that leaves things wide open for a sequel.

The graphics are great, the gameplay is okay (Similar to the original, leaving much to be desired) and as before the music is fantastic. The story is a very disappointing followup. Character's motivations are odd, and out of character nearing the end of the game. The pacing is odd at times, trying to weave together two stories meeting at some point.

It was impossible to follow up the greatness of the original, but this doesn't even come anywhere near furthering the legacy. If you want great graphics and decent gameplay, I'm sure you'll have fun playing the game, but I'm certain you'll feel as unfulfilled as I did 6 hours into the game, all the way through to the end. If a sequel were to come out, I just can't get excited about a ND game again after everything I loved about the original was butchered.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

The game begins to be boring in the second half, while playing for Abby. I was expecting another from the game. Open world is not open (center of Seattle). Well, now that I've played through the entire game, I figured I'd add my review to the pile. Well, now that I've played through the entire game, I figured I'd add my review to the pile. Let me preface by saying that I think both extremes of the fandom are wrong - this is not the worst sequel of all time that deserves a rating of 1 to 4 out of 10, but neither is it a generation-defining masterpiece that deserves all the critic accolades it got.

With that said, let's start with the good. For starters, the gameplay is great. In this regard, the game does what a sequel should do - it builds upon the solid foundation laid by the first title by expanding gameplay options in all directions. The encounters are very fun to play through, whether you choose to take a stealthy approach or gun everyone down, and they are improved heavily from the last game with better enemy AI, more enemy types and more actions available to the playable characters. Exploration is similarly improved from the last game, with more traversal options, and the development team truly outdid themselves with regards to map design - the post-apocalyptic environments are interesting to explore in times of peace, with large maps offering lots of nooks and crannies, filled with both collectibles and items necessary for survival, and the maps provide great venues for combat encounters, with the size and variety of areas giving hundreds of options to approach each encounter. In this category, the game deserves all the praise. In addition to that, it should come as no surprise that, just like every other Naughty Dog title preceding it, the game looks and sounds great. Just like the original game was on the PS3, the sequel is a swan song to the aging PS4 console, squeezing out everything that its technical capabilities can provide. To top it all off, the game is loaded with tiny immersive details that have been a staple of Naughty Dog games for years. From the gameplay perspective, the game is an absolute treat to play through.

Now let's get to the less favorable stuff. The story of the game that the fandom reacted so strongly towards, unfortunately does indeed disappoint. I won't get into spoiler details, but as a huge fan of the first game, I felt like the game mistreated the characters from the original game. And I feel like a large part of the fandom fallout is generated due to Naughty Dog failing to deliver on the promises made to players - namely, that they would tell a story worthy of Joel and Ellie. Throughout the game's marketing campaign, we the fans were assured that the studio understands how strongly people feel about these characters and that the second game would do them justice. Unfortunately, after playing the game, those promises now ring hollow. Despite trying to keep the review spoiler-free, I feel the need to warn any fans of the first game who might be reading this - the game's story trailers are extremely misleading. For one, if you are a fan of Joel, you should know that Joel plays a far smaller role in the game than the trailers would suggest. In addition to that, if you thought this would be Ellie's story first and foremost (something Naughty Dog also assured the players of in the interviews), know that that was also a lie, for the game has a new playable protagonist Abby. The biggest problems with the game's narrative happen due to Abby being kind of forced into it, pulling you out of Ellie's story at a climactic moment, and then spending a large portion of the game playing as the new protagonist instead. And while I felt that Ellie's story was somewhat weak as well, Abby's side of the story is that much weaker. In many ways it retreads a lot of ground from the first game, only doesn't manage to live up to it by a long shot.

The beauty of the first game was in large part due to its simplicity. It was a story of two very likable characters going on a journey together against all odds, and the bond they forged along the way. For the second game the developers clearly wanted to cast a wider net, but in the process, they seemingly forgot or consciously ignored what made people fall so much in love with the first one. While the scope of the second game's story, as well as its cast of characters, is larger than the last game, neither aspect feels as well-done as the first game. Ultimately, the game left me feeling empty that of all the possible ways of furthering the story of Joel and Ellie, they picked the one they did. And this being a story-heavy game, of course that is going to affect the rating a lot.

In the end, I would give this game an 6/10, with the disappointing nature of the story subtracting three points from what could have been a perfect 10/10 rating, and further subtracting one more point for Naughty Dog's blatantly deceptive marketing tactics. I feel like a lot of the backlash for this game could have been avoided if they had been upfront about the kind of direction they wanted to take the game in, instead of "subverting expectations" (god but I've grown to hate that phrase).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 is a good game. It is not as good as part one, but it still has amazing moments. Yes, there are plot inconsistencies. And yes, it is controversial in its design choices and way of storytelling. But it is not as bad as early user scores seem to indicate.

If you are as lost as me in the whole controversy, just wait until the price drops and then make up your own mind. Just don't believe the hate - you could miss out on something very good here.

Overall, I must give Naughty Dog kudos for the fact that they tried to make the player see the opposite site of the generally accepted game mechanic of killing random people repeatedly, never asking if it’s necessary or justified.
For almost everybody else in the game, Joel and Ellie are the villains, first robbing humanity of a cure, then killing innocent people for their selfish reasons.

The game could have been an outstanding example of showing how morality is a matter of perspective by placing two equally likable characters against each other, leaving the player in an empathy catch 22. But certain character design choices prevented that from happening.

In the end the game is not consequent in following it's own relentless standards. The ending feels surprisingly ineffectual. It should have just gone all in, leaving the character and player alone with nothing but grief and emptiness. But it’s hard to build another sequel on that, I suppose.

If you are into big production great-looking, plot-driven games, you shouldn't miss this one.
But you should also know: if you are looking for a realistic stealth shooter or pioneering inventions in story telling – this is not it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted this to be a masterpiece so badly, but it isn't. As many others has said, the story have major plotholes that basicly abandons the characters from the first game. gameplay is good and great, graphics is best in the industry, but the story seems forced. I am trying to play through a second time, basicly skipping every cutscene except those including Joel and Ellie together. **** I wanted this game to be a sequal to the first game, but it isn't. Too many new characters that i don't care about at all. As well as playing a character you want to kill at every opportunity for 10 hours. The game is simply not very fun to play after you have played it once. It is depressing, I have finished the first game almost 10-20 times as well as getting a platinum. I don't see myself platinuming this game in the near future. It feels like a waste of time sadly. I just hope that they don't mess up the future multiplayer.

I love the first game and wanted to love this game, but I don't... They disrespected the characters and the fans to much. The trailers were also false advertising, showing Joel alive with Ellie on her path to revenge, only to kill him off and replace him with a guy which I hardly even remember the name of.

    It should have been better.

There are lots of pro's, and just as many con's. Stunning visuals, incredible acting, massive world building, emotional audio; the game is extremely well-made mechanically and graphically and deserves commendation on these fronts. The story is where everything becomes precarious, however. It is obviously trying to test the player's expectations and adaptability while subverting expectations, but in my opinion it simply oversteps the boundary between artful subversion and sabotaging the story's momentum and, ultimately, appeal. The core of games is the element of fun: it is what drives people to play the game. A video game can be incredibly deep and tell a story unlike any other while also remaining fun and engaging. That is precisely what the first Last of Us did. However, with Part II, "fun" isn't exactly found in plenty here. Instead, after all is said and done, I feel that the player is left with a feeling of emptiness and disappointment. It's not a sobering, eye-opening-realization sort of emotion that can be commendable like in other titles, but rather one of almost irriation and a longing for the game they hoped to play after over half a decade of waiting. Some elements are certainly "fun" and inspire a sense of adventure and creativity, such as interacting with the beautfiul environments found throughout the world or deciphering the best method of stealthing through a level, but anything to do with the story at hand is simply disappointing and unintersting for long stretches of time.

The game deserves praise for its sheer scale and graphical fidelity, as well as its attention to detail and narrative craftsmanship (no-one denies the amount of time and attention put into that). But in the end, the feelings of "fun" and satisfaction so important to successful titles is scarce. The Last of Us Part II is better than many are giving it credit for, but is also a far-cry from its masterpiece of a predecessor, leaving many who endured the campaign feeling simply thieved of the narrative they believed should've been in place.

The overall combat and gameplay is great for 7-10 hours then becomes a repetitive drag. Only 1 new type of enemy and it's not that big of a deal. The story is flawed 3 hours in and doesn't make up for it. It makes you hate Elly and tries to make you like Abby but doesn't until the end when you just want to be done with the game. The last 6-7 hours I lowered the difficulty out of boredom of the combat so I could finish the story which was not worth it. This game started off great to ok. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to start off by saying that the game is not good, it is not bad but it's good, the game creates feelings in the gamer that were meant to exist. The game created anger and the feeling of revenge that is understandable for what to happen to Joel but I can't wrap my head around the reason why Joel died, my initial thought was that it brought something bigger to the table, something that might be bigger than Jackson, The Fireflies, The Scars or WLF but it wasn't the reason for Joel's death, the only reason for why Naughty Dogs decided to take this path was to get revenge on something that didn't even happen in the first game this means that the first game and everything that makes the first game very good is thrown out the trash to pursue something new and force new characters in the game, also forcing the player to follow a character that one is meant to be hated and two brings stupidity and a dumbass back story that can easily be as dumb as her stupid muscles, Abby character by herself destroyed the first game and the second and keep in mind that she wasn't even in the first game but let's take account of what she did to destroy this franchise

The developers created Abby's part of the campaign to make the gamer understand why Abby did what she did but the gamer doesn't care, we care about Joel and Ellie and what happens to them, not about a character who is tied to the first game but doesn't appear by killing the main reason why we played the second game and the reason why we waited 7 years for this game which is Joel, every time I decided to play the first game I'll just think of the emptiness the first game has, taking account that the second game makes me hate the first game and that's the hardest thing a franchise can do which is making a gamer hate the first game with the second game this means that developers made a perfect game but made us hate it not by changing the first game but making a second game that is so bad at telling a story that at the end of the day destroys the franchise

The story sucks and since the story is the only contact the game has to the player this means the game sucks which tears my heart out because it had the base to become even better than the first one and even worse is that naughty dog hyped this game as a successor to the first game by making trailers that have nothing to do with the final result by misleading the player to play the game but then making the gamer try to enjoy it but we can't because the simple reason is that they killed the game off in the first two hours of the game if you decided to stop playing the game after the two hours you are not missing out on anything and if you are considering on buying the game I advise you to because at the end of the day the game is a sequel to one of the best games ever and I believe that as a gamer we are obligated on playing even if I know beforehand that the game was going to be bad I would have to play it

The Last Of Us 2's story makes me hate naughty dog as a company because the money, time, manpower, equipment even the creativity to make this game perfect but the didn't, they wasted near a decade on making a game most people don't like by them wanting to send a stupid message that violence is not the answer but proceeds to kill off a great character like Joel and Jesse and if you think that at the end of the game you finally get the justice that Joel deserves your wrong because the wanted to send a message of violence is the answer but after you slaughtered hundreds of people, killed animals and killed a pregnant woman so basically Ellie lets Abby live because she remembered Joel but honestly if I was in her position and lived through the things she had to live through I, taking account that Joel has been here father figure and also the person who teaches her, protects her, defenses her, loved her and saved her I would have killed Abby the same she killed her, I hate Ellie for sparing Abby the way she and at the end of the game Ellie is left with nothing, literaly nothing she literaly started with everything and ended up nothing not even with a the feeling of fullfillment because the only thing that made her kill everybody, lose her family and lose Joel was to kill abby and doesn't even kill her.

The story is bad and I can't suggest the game but even with all the errors the game has it is decent enough to be played and to enjoy the gameplay, the conclucion is if the like the first game you won't like the second

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I know a 7 might sound like a lot for some people, but I'm giving it a 7 when comparing to the first TLoU. This one has better graphics (obviously) and more refined mechanics, but a piss poor story and horrible characters. At the same time, a 0 just feels extremely unfair. There were a few legitimately good moments in the game (mainly the flashbacks with Joel), but they were the only good parts of the story. Such a shame. Expand

About new game - it is pretty good. Main problem of it is the fact that it was hyped so hard that if it is not perfect than it is ruined for many people and it is pretty far from perfect.
Graphics and details in this game really gorgeous. Facial animation of characters is great and voice acting - no matter what you think about story you will believe actors at the very least. Sound design is awesome too - killing sounds are so real it is horrifying and ambient is keeping you focused and in suspense. Gameplay i liked too - i enjoy stealth and on survival you really have to scavenge and be stealthy - though it is not so innovative as it was in first game, it is basically polished version of it with some new mechanics. Violence in this game - for better or worse - is over the top. I actually liked that part because postapocalyptic world should be violent but for some people it can be too much. Only problem with gameplay part for me was that it is really drags. It is simply too long and (at least on survival) no matter how i liked it i got tired of it .
Now to story - it is decent. The main fault of it that it is trying too hard to push author's idea into your head. That is why sometimes story feels too far-fetched. Story in good movie or game should be first of all immersive - you have to believe in what is happening in it, believe in characters' actions, but here i didn't believe in their motivation at all. Everything else - sound, graphics, acting, etc - very immersive, but main caharacters are hollow and their actions are pretty stupid sometimes. It is especially wierd because characters were actually best part of TLOU 1. Story itself is just a vengeance story nothing more nothing less. In the end story is worst part of this game - most part of it actually feels like a filler made to fill gaps in long gameplay and to push the main idea that vengeance is bad.
All in all it is pretty good game - if you like survival, postapocalypse, great physics, graphics and sound you will have lots of fun. If you are going for the story and characters it is probably not the best choice.

This is a first for me and I guess the only reason why I feel compelled to do so is in the naive hope that the The Last of Us 2’s developers will somehow read this. Naughty Dog, a developer who I have loved for the vast majority of my life, from the early days of Crash Bandicoot, through to the Jak and Daxter series, the Uncharted games, and of course, The Last of Us. I would love for them to listen. There are many things things I could say about this game; both positive and negative, but to write a long-winded review of these things seems futile considering the following two aspects, which ultimately for me make the game a colossal failure.

1.) The developers forgot what medium they were working with.

If you were to ask any other game developer what their main aims and ambitions were, what would they say? What would their ultimate goal be?

To create games that the audience love and want to play time and time again. This is not the case for the developers of The Last of Us part II. If you were to ask Naughty Dog what their main aim is as a game developer and what they wanted the audience to feel and experience from playing The Last of Us Part II, it is quite obvious that they wished players to feel heartbreak, devastation, depression, shock, anger, and misery. Why would anyone enjoy playing a game that makes them feel this way? Why would anyone want to experience it ever again?

Schindler’s List is an amazing movie, a masterpiece. Do I like it? Yes. Did I love it? No. It is not meant to be enjoyed, it is meant to be endured. But we still feel admiration for Schindler’s selfless and brave acts of kindness in a cruel world. The subject matter works as part of the medium of film: you have 1 hour 30 mins to express an idea, it is temporary; not meant to be repeated and the audience aren’t spending a substantial $60 to experience it. The fundamental definition of a game is “an activity that one engages in for amusement or fun.” The Last of Us Part II simply does not meet this criteria. Conrad McCarthy’s ‘The Road,’ which serves as significant inspiration for this series, has all of the same themes, but has something that is painfully absent in The Last of Us Part II - hope. There is light in the darkness for Man and Boy: “We are carrying the fire...” There is no light in The Last of Us Part II, no fire, nothing to fill me with hope or to make me want to continue playing. Nothing to love or to admire. It verges on being completely soulless.

2.) It doesn’t give what the audience wants.

With any sequel, the first point of discussion should be about what the absolute bare minimum the audience will want the game to have. I can say this without hesitation that EVERYONE wanted a continuation of Joel and Ellie’s story. Joel and Ellie IS The Last of Us.

The Master Chief IS Halo. Link IS Zelda. Solid Snake IS Metal Gear Solid. Drake IS Uncharted. The Last of Us Part II fell at the first hurdle because this simple and painfully obvious requirement was not met. If you didn’t know that the main reason why the audience loved your original game was the deep and personal relationship between Joel and Ellie, and you didn’t think to continue this despite developing and directing the original, then I don’t really know what else to say. No more subverting expectations, going against the grain, doing things differently or ‘thinking out the box.’ Just give the people what they want. You can still take calculated risks and create something that everybody will love.

As you’ve probably gathered, I did not enjoy this game. Please play the game to make a decision for yourself, only know that I no longer feel devastated, depressed, shocked, angry or miserable about The Last of Us Part II.

    I just feel empty.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game doesn't deserve the 10's it is getting, nor does it deserve the 0-2's it is getting. First off, this game has to be the best looking game I have EVER played, along with having top tier animations and voice acting. No one can take away how visually appealing this game looks and how good it plays. Besides all these great things, there are many issues with this game that mostly come from the story and minor things that come from the gameplay. The gameplay was very fun as expected, but needed a little bit more variety due to the length of the game just to mix things up a little. So let's talk about the story... I can admit ND tried to create an interesting/compelling story which conveyed an important message, but in doing so they sadly fell on their face. Through trying to tell this story, you end up spending a lot of time with characters who you do not care about at all. I bought this game because I cared about Ellie and Joel and their relationship, not to play as new a character who I barely have a connection with. The harsh truth is we don't care about Abby and her backstory enough to play almost 12 hours with. The way I see it is, any story where you play the whole thing as either Ellie or Joel would have a much more enjoyable game to play. Expand

The the ending is unbelievably depressing and the player is left feeling very unsatisfied, which might have actually been the point. Whether it was the point or not doesn't matter though, the ending just makes you feel like crap and that's never a good thing. Mechanics, graphics and gameplay-wise the game was solid, much better than the original, but the story just isn't there. Killing off most of the favorite characters and leaving others with nothing is NOT a good way to achieve depth. The hope we were left with at the end of the first game is nonexistent at the end of this one. I expected much more, and much better from a studio like Naughty Dog. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Abby was a Mistake.
So Abby kills Joel in the first 2 hours of the game and makes you and Ellie hate her and want revenge. Joel, by the way, is arguably one of the most humanized father figures in gaming. In the original, we see Joel go from a loving father to a cold-hearted survivor, and through his connection with Ellie we see him develop into a loving father figure again. The entire 1st game had an underlining message of hope, and I remember hearing that hope was the theme for the first game and that hate was going to be the theme for this game, but they did not deliver on this in trying so hard to make you feel empathetic towards Abby.

The 10 hours spent playing with Abby is a failed attempt to make you feel empathy for a character that murders Joel because Joel murders Abby’s father. Not to mention that Abby’s father held a knife up to Joel when Joel entered the surgery room.

The thing about Abby’s sad story is that most fans of Joel and the 1st game could care less about Abby’s sad story. At most, Abby gets a sarcastic “boo-hoo” and afterwards players are still itching to kill her. If we have learned anything about The Last of Us’ world, it is that everybody in this world has a sad story. Trying to get players to have sympathy for this character in a world full of sad stories was a stretch.

In this world people are forced to choose sides and most fans of the first game have chosen the side of Joel and Ellie. Choosing Joel and Ellie’s side does not mean that we don’t recognize that there are two sides of any conflict or that we agree with Joel and Ellie in all their moral decisions. Choosing their side in this world means that despite their flaws we choose to care about their sad story above all others and we give them leeway to make unmoral decisions in a world that clearly lacks morality. That’s why even if some fans agree that Joel was wrong for saving Ellie and killing the doctor, most fans cannot feel sympathy for Abby because we are fully on Joel and Ellie’s side despite their lack of moral clarity.

The game tries too hard and wastes too much time trying to make you feel something for Abby, and this is where I think some critics miss what fans are pointing out. I agree that it was a risk, gamble, and ambitious to take this route for TLOU2. I have never played a game that tried so hard to make you not only understand but identify with the antagonist’s point of view. I give the developers credit for the try, but fans are correct to point out that they missed the mark completely and I am not sure they could ever make fans who have chosen Joel and Ellie’s side feel bad for Abby. For sure we felt bad for Yara and Lev. We felt horrible for Yara giving her life for Abby. We even read the notes scattered through the abandoned buildings and feel sympathy for the victims in the notes. But Yara and Lev and the other victims you read about have not killed Joel and they are not in conflict with the side we have chosen to back.

The main problem with playing with Abby as fans of the first game is that we feel forced to play with a character we do not feel any connection with for 10 hours. Fans of this title understand that Abby has a sad story, of course she does, everybody in this world has a sad story. Developers thought they could make you feel something for Abby by showing her dad die, showing her focus on training above relationships, showing her help some kids, and showing her get captured and put into slavery. Players on the other hand look at this world as a dog eat dog world and fans of TLOU simply don’t care if Joel wronged Abby or that Abby suffered. The game tries to make you question who the real bad guys are, but for fans its clear through the whole game; Abby is the bad guy and needs to be taken down.

I was not as upset as some by Ellie not killing Abby. I did want Ellie to kill Abby, and if given the choice I would have killed Abby. But again, as a fan of TLOU, I have chosen to care about and support Ellie’s decision, because I care more about her than Abby’s life.

After thinking about this game and seeing the conflict between the WLF and SCARS, I really wish the story could have involved a war between Jackson and some faction like the WLF. They could have shown negotiations breakdown between clans. A war could have broken out. Abby could be in the game and she can still kill Joel, but maybe she realizes during the war that Joel is the same guy that killed her father. Maybe they could have let you play with Joel for a couple of hours before killing him. Jackson could lose the war and be forced to move, and Ellie could have come back for vengeance after her people were safe. Something where we are told about Abby’s story, but not expected to really feel bad for her, because that didn’t work. A war would also have accounted for all the killing throughout the game.

Sorry one last gripe – Not one person gets infected

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After replaying the TLOU1 and then getting into the sequel its more then a little disappointing when the story takes a turn for the worst. I knew that Joel was going to die before even going into the game and Ellie being LGTBQ+ wasn't and issue either. I was looking forward to seeing Ellie take a darker turn then how we knew her in the first game and being able to see her kind of take a path similar to Joel's when he was younger but that isn't what was given to the audience. From all the trailers and teasers it seems like Ellie has changed drastically and that shes on this path of revenge on people who killed a father-like figure to her, even though her and Joel weren't in the best place (relationship wise) she still didn't want him to die and at first that's what the story gave us. For most of the game you do play as Ellie and you see her hunt down Abby's friends but she barely ever gets to enact her revenge on any of them. Tommy gets there before her and kills some guys which is okay but doesn't feel great for Ellie then she gets captured and would have died if Dina didn't save her and while she did Kill a guy here it still didn't feel rewarding for the player it was just an "oh sh*t I have to save Dina" moment. I will say that the chase scene for Nora was great and thrilling even Ellie's first encounters with the scars was intense. However, when Ellie tries to question Mel and Owen it seems very sloppy and I know Ellie has never done anything like that before so its reasonable that she would be sloppy it just doesn't feel like the Ellie the audience was shown. I would have preferred a much darker version of Ellie where she does have some knowledge and practice at torturing people for information thanks to Joel and instead of Tommy getting to kill people it should've been just Ellie with Dina alongside her watching as Ellie spirals down into a pit of anger and rage and blood-lust, it would make Dina's character and relationship with Ellie a bit more impactful and important to the story. Having Dina watch Ellie turn into something she can't see herself being with anymore and then it becomes a story where Ellie wants revenge but at what cost? she loses Dina and her friends because she so consumed in her rage and hatred for Abby's friends but that wasn't what we got. After Ellie gives Mel and Owen, Abby hunts her down and injures Tommy and kills Jesse but before getting to the first showdown your forced to place as Abby for the next 10 hours. While I understand the contrast they were trying to make with Abby and the first game it all just falls apart. You can't force your audience to feel bad or love a character after seeing all the horrible things they've done, its like taking Harry Potter and forcing the viewer to feel bad or care about Voldemort after seeing all the terrible things he's done to people it just doesn't work that way. The story should have began with Abby which would of forced the player to get used to new characters and maybe liking some of them without having the knowledge of these people being the ones who kill Joel. It was very hard to play the game and be forced to play as Abby during the first fight with Ellie it didn't feel good or fun to play. It doesn't even make you think Abby is a good person, she would have killed Dina knowing that she was pregnant when Ellie had no clue that Mel was pregnant, she only found out after killing her and Owen. The story focuses so much on trying to make you feel bad for Abby that you question why Ellie is even in the game, it makes you feel like it isn't even her story anymore. Even the ending leaves a bad taste in the mouths of the audience when after not being able to let go of Joel and everything that has happened she once again sets out to get her revenge but doesn't even get that and then loses Dina over nothing. Abby got her revenge and lived granted her friends are dead now she still took out her revenge against someone that killed her dad. Ellie set out for revenge lost her friend and even later on her girlfriend and for what? Ellie didn't take out her revenge she went and killed 4 people that only traveled along with Abby, she didn't kill the target of her anger while Abby did. The message of the story feels like revenge for Abby is good while revenge for Ellie is bad, why? That's my issue with the game. Overall is just didn't leave the player feeling like they accomplished anything. I would of liked for Ellie to have killed Abby and lost Dina because she set out and took her revenge even when Dina told her to stay then that makes the player really feel the weight of the decision Ellie made. She lost the person she loved because she went to kill Abby but this isn't what happened and the story just fell short for me in the end. Expand

The biggest issue remains with the story. The story is definitely not good. It is inconsistent with what has been shown previously regarding the characters we have come to know and love in the previous game. The worst part, however, is how the game has cheap attempts to make you feel bad about the people or the animals you kill whilst forcing you to kill them. It's a horrible misinterpretation of what it means to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Abby is an insult to the gamers. She is the worst character, nobody likes her, nobody can identify with her. She is just another example of badly written female characters imposing unrealistic body standards to women. And to add salt to the injury, we don't even get the satisfaction of killing her as Ellie by the end of the game. This game is not a 0/10, but it is definitely not a 10/10 like most "critics" seem to pretend. This game is nothing special, it is just average. A 6/10, maybe a 7/10 if you can really get into it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Does the story suffer from poor writing? or Is it a story that you don't like?

I believe The Last of Us 2 has suffered from both, but more definitely the latter. This is a story that people (including me) don't like. The storytelling wouldn't be under such scrutiny if the story itself was something that we appreciated. I can not critisize the game for its amazing graphics, world creation, and gameplay. It's a beautifully made game. However, with the Last of Us. It's the STORY that matters most. And this is where Naughty Dog left most of it's players upset and exhausted. (FYI, I was blessed not to have to anything spoiled for me prior to playing this game.)

I would like to state that it seems that players who like the game are claiming that MOST of the gamers who dislike TLOU2, dislike it because of LGBTQ representation and main female character. While I would say there are definitely a lot of bigots who are leaving reviews, i believe it is unfair to generalize. Many gamers praise Naughty God for its intention with diversity, but still feel cheated by the story. Especially fans of The Oringal The Last of Us. This game was a long and depressing ride. If you liked the first one, be prepared to be heartbroken.

Naughty Dog seems to have underestimated how much the fans connected with Joel and Ellie from the first game. Not just the characters, but the relationship they developed. You feel for them. You root for them as you see them protect and fight for each other. TLOU2 very swiftly destroyed Joel and Ellie's relationship, killed Joel, and turned Ellie into a broken revenge addict. This is where fans may not like the story. For fair reason. Naughty Dog seemed to disregard why Fans liked the first game for the sake of telling a risky and emotionally draining story. It was not a pleasant experience for the fan and that should make the developers think. However, the game does make you think and ponder upon some of the deeper themes the story makes you ask. I dislike the story, but cannot say It is a story that lacks depth. I dislike the story, but that does not mean it's a "bad" story.

Now the storytelling... Where the story telling fails is regarding Abby. While I still cannot imagine sympathizing with her at all, I believe telling a little bit more of her story in the beginning of the game and fleshing that out... would have helped naughty dog achieve what they wanted. Which is for the player to connect with Abby. This was not done... and it left me personally, wanting to quickly finish the Abby parts to get back to Ellie's narrative. However, quickly finding out that Abby's story keeps going. I was waiting and expecting a switch back to Ellie in the boss fight where you play as Abby, and was subsequently disgusted that the studio had me play a character I didn't like... to beat up a character I was rooting for.

All in all. I have mixed feelings. As any gamer would by the end of the game. A dark, depressing, rollercoaster. I just hope that if there is a part 3. That we do not play as Abby for the majority of it. 6/10

The game's entire length is not justified by its content by including drawn out sections that could have theoretically worked in delivering its themes but hurts the narrative's pacing in practice.

The characters, while brilliantly acted with impeccable nuance, are tragically unlikable; an observation that could be attributed to flaws in writing. There is no chemistry between Ellie and Dinah and this permeates to the rest of the character relationships as well.

The game at least plays better than the first though, but that's not exactly a surprising thing to see. It could have benefited from a few more gameplay innovations though as the gap between the two games feels less than the actual seven-year distance it has.

But the strongest detriment that ruined my experience is how jarring the narrative dissonance in contrast to its gameplay. For a game that has elevated in technicality that borders on the uncanny valley of realism, to see characters display emotions only in cutscenes and not in gameplay is deeply off-putting and instantly shatters thematic consistency. I hoped that by this time, Naughty Dog - who are well-known as crafted story-tellers in this medium - should have found the way to resolved this ever-living conflict. But I guess we're still far off from that.

The graphics were breathtaking, there's a lot of environments that look beautiful and astonishing, great work to the cgi animators, mocap workers etc. The actual fighting in the gameplay was fairly good with little to no bugs (that I've experienced). But now to what I disliked. Although the gameplay was alright, it got very repetitive after a certain point thinking of the fighting sequences more of a chore than fun. The characters have apparently had off screen character development because the characters from the first game are completely different. Ellie is now ruthless, Joel gives away his name to strangers casually. But that's not all, the characters in this game don't even go by their own logic, as if they don't know who they are. Abby was saved by Joel and kills him. Later on she protects 2 kids because they saved her life. Not to mention her father died a quick and painless death with a bullet to the head, yet she abused and tortures her father's killer. Would definitely not play this game again or recommend it to anyone. If it was a stand alone zombie film or game, then I would give it a 6 or 7/10 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay mechanics are enjoyable, but I feel like crafting could’ve been built on a bit more. While I can understand what they were trying to accomplish in terms of trying to get different perspectives across, they wound up making Ellie a very unlikeable character bu the end of the story. They also didn’t make any of the new characters stand out enough to be enjoyed. Even if they’d given us more time with them, because of the way they were introduced to us I already had a disdain for them. Had they brought the story to us differently, and let us get to know them and their motivations better before the terrible act, then maybe I’d have been more open to empathize with them. Because the story tends to make you want to walk away from it for awhile at points, I can’t justify the roughly 25 hour run time. The game is held up by fun, solid gameplay, and the voice acting, despite the writing doing it’s best to want to make you think about things, it results in unlikeable, or dull characters that I don’t care to spend another 25 hours with. All in all it’s a solid game, but not one I care to play through again. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay and design is stellar, with some of the most detailed mechanics and concepts I have seen for a game. There are so many small but extremely detailed systems running in this game that will blow you away once you realize they are there. However, the actual core mechanics of combat, exploration, and resource management do not remain fun for the entire course of the game and start going stale by the end.

The game has some serious pacing issues, by the 2/3rds mark or so you are going to be pretty bored and sick of the game. The gameplay does not stay fresh and the story fails to keep you interested due to poor layout.

I strongly disagree with all of the people that are jumping to one extreme or the other over this game. Everyone seems to want to call it a 10 or a 0. When it hardly deserves either of those scores. Issues with characters derive not from them being out of character, but the game not showing the time and actions that drove characters to think or act the way they do, alienating the player. The way characters act IS logical, but it is not conveyed correctly to the player.

The game also does a terrible job making you CARE about characters that it wants you to. It takes too long to build on some, and stops bothering to build up others. Characters you are just starting to care about will suddenly be dropped from the story for 10+ hours, show back up at the end and suddenly you are supposed to still care about them in all of this. Meanwhile, people you have barely seen at all will suddenly be in a position or situation you are MEANT to empathize with when at best you MIGHT be able to sympathize.

To conclude, the story was a GREAT idea with terrible execution that alienates people in a series that relied heavily on its story, and the gameplay grows too stale to keep people entertained over this long and overplayed plot. Also, the devs lied about several things certain people had concerns over like dog killing. Which doesn't matter to me, but the fact that they lied to the people really pisses me off.

First off, I can't understand why so many Critics gave The Last of Us: Part II a 100 Rating... Nothing about the game could be improved, noting at all? its just so perfect? I find that hard to believe. Same goes with all of the 0 ratings from the User Reviews. Nothing could be worse?

    Graphics 10/10
I think it was absolutely great, there was several times where I stopped just to take in the scenery. Its not often I find myself to just stop and enjoy something visual in a game.

    Mechanics 8/10
I enjoyed being able to upgrade your weapons, traits, and then crafting useful tools to assist you with the enemies. Breaking glass to get into a room that is locked. Crawling on the ground to get to different places even to hide sometimes. What i didn't like was, every encounter was like TAP SQUARE to get out of a situation. About 1/3 into the game I found my self hitting square before it was even promoted to do so. I wished it was switched up with other buttons or actions. The AI, I feel could have been a bit better.

    Story 6/10
    So much to say.

I never seen any of the leaks, and still haven't, but I had a feeling the story would revolve around Ellie getting revenge for the death of Joel. The reveal trailer had Joel coming from a white light type background and then when it was confirmed by Neil Druckmann that Ellie was the "only playable character." So it didn't surprise me that Joel was killed. The way Joel is murdered, it felt like Ellie deserves to get revenge. All though she had been resenting to Joel for two years before. That is when she learns what really happened at the end of the first game.

The slap to the face came after knowing what has happened your forced to play as Abby, the one that kills Joel. At that point I wanted to stop playing because I simply did not care about her story or her background. After a while I did understand why she wanted killed Joel, but not enough for me to care or overlook it. I found dying as Abby to be satisfying, especially when as Abby you have to fight Ellie. The first several "attempts" I walked out in the open just to let Ellie kill Abby.
From a story telling perspective your player base shouldn't want to die playing as one of the main characters. It was such a disconnect for me from the game. I think it would have been better to tell most of the story (other than the ending) in a different order, such as building Abby's character before she kills Joel.

The ending was mostly a waste in my opinion. After Abby lets Ellie live for a second time only because a supporting character that you save as Abby is there. She goes off to live on the farm with Dina (which you find out is pregnant early on in your search for Abby) and her baby. At least ten months have passed since the last encounter with Abby, and it seems like Ellie has moved on. Or at least one would think until Tommy shows up with information on Abby's whereabouts. Ellie then decides again that she must get revenge for Joel at the cost of her and Dina's relationship. Ellie saves Abby from torture and possibly death so she could fight Abby one on one. During the fight Abby bites off two of Ellie's fingers at which point Ellie goes to drown Abby to ultimately let her go free, out of nowhere. in ten plus hours of playing as Ellie there is no hint that Ellie would let Abby live. It comes out of the blue, out of left field. In the end Ellie's quest for revenge left her with nothing. Dina and he child is gone, not to mention one of her friends killed at the end of her quest to find Abby. As well a missing two fingers hindering her abilities to play the guitar (that Joel gave her) and leaves it behind in the empty house. I guess its supposed to be her finally moving on and having closure.

I sorta get that Ellie is supposed to "end the cycle of revenge." However who is not to say the hundreds if not thousands of people that Ellie kills on her way to get to Abby, that their loved ones wouldn't want to seek out Ellie and kill her. That is quite literally what happened to Joel.

I feel like the whole game rely on you believing what Joel does at the end of the first game was horribly wrong. So that you can get past Joel's death and accept Abby's actions. It make me think that Naughty Dog wants to expand the Last of Us series beyond Ellie and Joel to tell other stories. However the game was marketed heavily on Ellie and Joel and kept Abby a secret, I think just to sell the game.

This is a story driven game and I believe it falls to deliver what they was trying to accomplish. For me that is half the score. The game is just okay, nothing to write home about.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don't pay attention to what most people are saying. The Last of us Part 2, is far from a bad game, much less a game with 3/4 notes.

I understand people's indignation about this game, but that's no reason to say the game is bad, because it's not. People confuse quality with personal taste and that's a big mistake.

In general, the thing that most revolted the fans was 3 aspects: The death of Joel; The character "Abby" and the fact that we have to play with it, and the end of the game. All of them understandable, but not justifiable from so much hate. The purpose of a game is to have fun with it, right? Generally speaking, yes, because what's the point of me doing something that doesn't bring me any benefit? But this game is different. This game brings a narrative that no other game has ever brought, it's a cold and depressing story, where it shows us that "Revenge is a game for fools".

Joel's death is something very shocking, yes, capable of being one of the saddest moments in the history of games, but we have to take into consideration that it's not the protagonism that will save a character's skin. If we didn't want Joel to die? Of course we would. But the last of us already has a whole narrative prepared and we can't change that unfortunately.

About the character Abby, many said they had no empathy with her during the whole game, even after they knew it was Joel who killed her father. And that's completely normal, and I realise it can be frustrating to play with her, but the game doesn't make you like the character. You don't have to just agree to understand. You can say that the fact that her father was one of the surgeons who operated on Ellie is cliché and a weak point in the game script. I completely disagree, "Abby" is important to show the 2 sides of the coin, 2 different points of view, 2 different lives. Abby is not the villain of the game and never will be, as well as Ellie, only each one has their motivations and their reasons to practice such acts during the game.

Finally the final, which I personally didn't think was brilliant or perfect either, but it's not bad either. The ending shows us that nothing Ellie did was worth it, Dina left her, she's now alone, far from home and completely aimless in life. She lost 2 fingers, which makes her lose Joel's only legacy which was playing guitar and also makes her not be able to draw anymore (something she was very good at and liked to do). It's a tragic and very sad ending but it gives us a moral lesson that is, never too much to say that we love a person, sometimes a simple hug would make all the difference. Instead we prefer to keep our feelings to ourselves and be proud. The fact that Ellie didn't kill Abby was because she wouldn't be happy about it, Abby's death wouldn't fill that void and stop her from having that trauma, which is done, is done. At least Ellie saw a little hope in Abby with Lev in the end, which she couldn't have with Joel, unfortunately, and that she didn't want to take from Abby.

In conclusion, I'm not saying this game is perfect in terms of history because it's not. The first game is still a thousand times superior. What's really perfect about this game is the gameplay itself and the innovations they've given since the first game. And just for that, the game already deserved more than 3 or 4 marks.

The last of us was an amazing touching story, making you care for each and every character as if they were your own family. Connecting to them, feeling them, getting to know them was my top priority when I immersed myself in that universe.
With that said, all the love and care that went into that first game was forcefully taken away in its sequel, killing the mentor figure right from the start, playing double standards for the protagonist and antagonist, forcing us to believe that Ellie has gone a darker path, which goes against the hero stature, yet with Abby - the villain, being guilty of walking this exact same path is treated like a saint.
Over all it is a huge decline from the first game's story, yet the visual beauty and the game play itself were absolutely astonishing. Having said that, as this is a story driven game, half of my score comes from the story and since it is a continuation of a previous, extremely good story driven game, I'm scoring it a 1/10. That with the 9/10 for the game play (some issues with friendly AI and the weapon system) would give an average of 5 / 10, though because of the way this game treated these characters I love so much, I really wanted to give it less.

This is a pretty good game, incredibly detailed and gorgeous, and improves upon it's predecessor in some ways, but is overall an inferior game. The first Last of Us is one of my favorite games of all times.

Story and writing are sharp. It does push some politics but not in the dramatic, goose-egg way that some people are claiming. However, I was very disappointed with the ending. It does not wrap up the journey in my opinion. A better ending would have bumped it up 1-2 points.

Combat and gameplay mechanics are improved, but again suffer from some drawbacks. Unique set pieces are much less frequent in this game, and it suffers from that rinse-and-repeat feel of a lot of open-world games. The first game was much tighter and linear. This game really opens up the world and it works at times, but it makes the game feel less unique and very mundane throughout a lot of it. I found myself exhausted and sneaking around, dispatching enemies, and scavenging, and because the story isn't as strong, and the characters not as engaging, it makes it that much harder to trudge through repetitive gameplay, however detailed and intense it may be (and they combat is very intense!). The first game was the perfect hybrid between open and linear and it worked. If I wanted an open world game and repetitive gameplay, I'll go play Assassin's Creed. I'm here for something more unique.

They added jumping and it "works" but that's about all it does: works. There is a lot of it and it doesn't feel great. A minor complaint, but when jumping is a crucial element to the gameplay and you are either jumping, squeezing, or sliding to progress through each section of the game, it should "feel" fun. Not like I'm fighting gravity or my character just ate a large pizza and is feeling lethargic. The same goes with the new "get knocked onto your back when you get shot" mechanic. It was exciting the first few times, but it happens WAY TOO OFTEN, and gets annoying quick, as every enemy seems to be an expert marksman, even when realistically, you get the drop on them (and I played on the moderate difficulty -- normal). The combat suffers from balance issues in this regard. The first game was too easy even on grounded (I could charge most enemies with a break and punch them to death), so I see why they tried to improve that, but it needs some tweaking.

Again, overall, a pretty good game. Some minor gameplay tweaks and even a slightly improved ending could upgrade this to a "great" game. It's a shame too, given how much detail and effort was put into this game. I appreciate all the hard work that Naughty Dog put into the game. That's why it's really too bad that the people in charge of the story couldn't wrap it up in a more compelling way. The first game was a masterpiece. This game has potential. But Naughty Dog missed the mark.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have to be careful to not let my emotion sour an objective review of the game. Many people have rated it in the red, but in terms of gameplay, mechanics, graphics, sound and otherwise the quality of the game I would say is elite. The variety of options for moving around and taking on enemies (from infected to people), with different weapons, stealth, attack, distractions and such is great.

However...... The Last of Us as a whole was built around a story, and a very deep story at that. The development of Joel and Ellie in game 1, surviving the world and challenges together gave the player a deep emotional connection to these characters and the storyline of the game as a whole. I feel The Last of Us Part II took a big **** on those characters and our connection as players to those characters. *SPOILERS BELOW*

There are definitely holes in the plot and in the character behavior itself, such as Joel and Tommy losing their survival instinct and skepticism that has kept them alive for the past 20+ years, and Ellie going on a nationwide manhunt, killing hundreds of people mercilessly just to decide against killing the one person shes after...

I do not mind the fact that Joel died, however it could have been done much better, and would have preferred it to happen later in the game. The biggest issue I found with the game was the fact that we were forced to play as Abby (Joel's murderer) and for such long periods. Not only that, but we also had to fight against Ellie as this character. I found this all to be a huge disrepect to the player and our bond with Ellie and Joel, and because of that it made the game unenjoyable to play through those parts (a solid 10-14 hours worth).

There were some real moments, especially between Ellie and Joel in flashbacks, and the emotion felt by her during the death but unfortunately the rest of the game and story overshadowed that.

In the end, my rating are as such:
    • Gaming = 10/10 (brilliant visuals, mechanics, sound and otherwise)

The first "Last of us" was one of my favorite games and I don't even own a Playstation, I saw a let's play that had me hooked. Fast forward today, I still do not own a playstation but I saw Pewdiepie's let's play. Unlike the first game you can tell there was much more of a political agenda.

This game is following the current marketing trend of inserting LGBTQ propaganda into its medium.

This game is following the current marketing trend of inserting LGBTQ propaganda into its medium. Which is not bad but very hard to do well, and really has no place in this game. The use of a multicultural cast shouts in your face "This is progress. Accept it!". However, the game fails to allow any solid connection to anyone other than Ellie or Joel. The narrative was confusing and the storytelling was sophomoric. Whoever thought is was a good idea playing as the villain for 10 hours needs to stop writing video games and go back to their tumblr blog.

As of the positives. The attention to detail is amazing. The mechanics are cool and the graphics are amazing. You can tell they put a lot of time and effort into this game. It saddens me to write this.

To conclude, This is not a 1 star game and it is not a 10 star game it is kinda right in the middle.

i would say the first 2/3s of the game is a great, a significant improvement on the first game in relation to everything, including it's storytelling capacity. but the last 10 hours or so of the game completely ruin the game as you start to notice its repetitive and shallow gameplay in the absence of engaging and focused storytelling.

by the end of it the game that you loved so is just a bloody, miserable slog that you can't wait to put down.

The gameplay is mediocre, almost a carbon copy of the first game, but with a few new guns. The game is twice as long though so it gets old quick. The graphics are some of the best on the PS4 and the Voice Acting is top notch, too bad the story is absolute crap. Your best game was driven by 2 characters people loved and you ruined them both Naughty Dog, on top of forcing players to do things they absolutely do not want to do for a significant portion of the game. I had a few hours of fun here and there but found myself just slogging through it waiting for it to just be over. However, once you finally get to the end, there is absolutely zero payoff in any way. I literally laughed out loud when the credits rolled. I put in about 30 hours in my first play-through and could not bare the thought of dragging my balls through it again. The story of the game does not worth my waiting and expectation for years. This is not a story that I wanted, especially the ending part. I can feel in the entire game that how the writer hates the characters that we love deeply. How ridiculous and how ego the writer is to force the players to torture the characters that they love and force the players to make decisions that they do not want to do. It makes me sick to play the second half of the game.
I wouldn't give it a score below 5 because the graphic, the light, the flight and the battlefield do a fantastic job! But the story just break my heart. If there will be a Part III, I wouldn't be surprised that Part III is Abby story only, but that would be a game that I wouldn't give a glance at all.

Visually it’s a stunning game, but lacks a little emotional engagement. I haven’t connected so far with the characters I’ve met or played, yet I’m almost 25 hours in. Because of the limited resources, you’re forced to scour every area to stock up for the next inevitable battle and that takes some time. This is quite laborious due to the fact some of the locations are quite disorienting and you can end up going round in circles. It’s because of this I’m now powering through and hoping I don’t have much left to do, so I can re-sell it and still make some decent money. Expand

Secondly the mechanics was something out of 2012... how do you go from one game to part two without fixing the mistakes of the first in reference to the game mechanic issues. I got stuck several times in the exact same ways I did in the first game. Finally I enjoy immensely the character inclusion for lbgt. There needs to be more games that include lbgt and other elements. That's the only reason this game gets a 6 instead of a 4. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 4 years ago, I played the first game and I loved it. In fact, I enjoyed it so much I went ahead and got the platinum trophy. It had a simple story but was executed brilliantly, I became attached to Joel and Ellie, and their father-daughter relationship.

I know some people enjoyed the game and I'm happy for them, but I don't like them.
    Pros:
    - Animation
    - Voice acting
    - Soundtrack
    - Graphics (by far the best on the ps4)

    Cons:
    - Story
    - Plot holes
    - Characters
    - Useless jump ability

There is so much plot armour in this, that it's ridiculous. I somewhat enjoyed the first half of the game but after Joel's death, you play as Abby for almost 10 hours. Then they use cheap tactics like playing with dogs to show you how much of a 'nice' person Abby. So Abby gets revenge, it's good but Ellie wants to get revenge, it's bad. You kill a lot of people who aren't responsible for Joel's death but let free the one person who is? wtf. I gave this game the benefit of the doubt but god this game is bad. I don't recommend this game, spend your 30 hours on another game.

This is one of the most disappointing games of this year. The story sucks, (most of) the new characters suck, the old characters seem almost completely different to what the first game established and the game drags way to hard. The game does get a lot right however: Its beautiful, the art direction is fenominal, the animation is amazing, it's the peak of visuals this console generation and there isn't a single issue there. Regardless of bad writing all the voice acting is superb. The gameplay in the first 14 hours (i played on hard, time of play can scale depending on difficulty) is amazing, there was enough changed made to the gameplay loop in my opinion to make it feel fresh after the first game. However after the midway mark the game really starts to drag and the gameplay starts to get repetitive, so the obvious solution here would be to tie up the game with one last final boss? or a last giant combat zone like the first game? NOPE! Instead why don't you start all over again as a new character with no upgrades or gear. Oh and that second section really killed the enjoyment for me, they really try to make you care about a character that you don't like (spoiler, they fail at making you like her) and her gameplay sections are boring (with the ONE exception of the skyscraper rooftop section, that was fun) which kills since you have to play 14 more hours of this. Oh and the ending! Its terrible! The entire game was for nothing! At the end of the first game you felt like you went on this giant adventure and that the charterers had made some huge consequential decisions! Whereas the last of us 2 feel's like you took the start of the game, deleted a few charecters, deleted a few fingers and then for like 5 minuets added a baby! NOTHING HAPPEN'S!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and don't even get me started on the plot armour! They try to mimic Joel's injury from the first game with Ellie near the end. In TLOU1 Joel's injury was used to drive the story, it showed how much Ellie cared for him and how desperate she was to save him which built up their characters immensely! In TLOU2 its used as an excuse for Ellie to stumble and complain in a few sections. This is one of many examples that shows nothing matters in the last of us 2.

(Quick note: i haven't touched on any LGBT+ material from the game, personally i had no issue with it and i don't believe it had any effect on my opinion of the game or the story. I just though id let you know)
