    There gameplay is smooth as butter, the visuals are breathtaking. The story narrative is the best I've seen in a game for years. If you don't like this game it's either because they're gay and you can't handle it, because you like games that are all action and no story or because you're a simp.

    they're were cute moments in the game.
    but showing me something and leaving me out of context for nearly half the game was just annoying
    gameplay is good and slightly improved from the last.

    alot of moments where it can feel quite boring and repetitive. i didn't like the story and how it was explained all together.

The experience is beautiful and captivating, yet gut-wrenching and maddening. At times you will feel at odds with the game and be challenged by the story. Here the player's buy-in is assumed, earned by the previous game, and ultimately the price of admission is emotionally costly but well worth the price.

    The combination of gameplay mechanics, in-game details, beautiful visuals, fantastic (and at times disgusting) sound design, and grippingly difficult story are what transcend this experience from a good game to a monumental creative accomplishment within entertainment and story telling.

This game, was amazing, speaking about mechanics and new enemies, but if we speak about storyline, is disappointing, in the beggining Joel dies by the most humillating way and the final, we control Abby like half of the game and then we have to win Ellie in a fight? it sucks, for me this part of the storyline doesn't exist. TLOU II is a great game if it comes to it's level of detail, yet it doesn't mean that it's perfect in every possible way. Sadly the game is a huge wasted potential if it comes to the story elements and the characters. We cant just bomb the game with negatives just because we read that one reddit comment. I can understand the emotions but we are humans, and humans will always be emotional.

    Lets get to the point:

    - Graphics 10/10 very immersive. For 7 years of work, great job.

    - Gameplay - 4/10 : its more repetetive than the first game for sure

    - Scenography - 8/10 very good detail and in gentle symbolism.

    - Bugs and glitches 3/10: rare but they do appear

    - Story telling- 5/10: All the scenes and dialoges got me some mixed feelings at the first time of viewing. The way TLOU II makes us feel while playing and viewing experience, is just somewhat cruel, but natural, and that's what makes it good, however the entire plot of the game felt empty after completion of the game story. I honestly felt pointless doing all of "this" at the second half of the game. It just asks for another sequel. The entire plot and story is just a wasted potential in my opinion. I think that taking a different approach to the game would make it better.

    - Animations: 10/10: they did a great motion capture on this i must tell

    - Humans/ interactions /emotions: 8/10: natural,/very rarly un-natural (soft-core porn isn't good enough for game industry)

    - Soundtrack: 10/10 true masterpiece

    That's it, thank you for reading my honest opinion.

    The dodge button finally allows you to do more than just throw bricks and snap necks from behind, and the plethora of difficulty options allow you to tweak the game and turn into Resident Evil, Uncharted and everything in between. The attention to detail in this game is staggering, the gore physics is impeccable , powerful and detailed. Even if you don't like the classic stealth survival from the first game, you can change that, and have a different experience. There are still walking sim segments and you can't skip those but ehi there's an hit button so if you just want to speed things up you can.

    On the flipside, the story is terrible - I'm sorry, it just is - and nothing is gonna change that.
    As a movie or a TV show, this wouldn't have a chance.
    The first half lacks the push the first game had, plot armor saves a character multiple times with the sole purpose of pushing forward a stupid plan, and the second forces you into 2 long side quests while relegating the main theme of the game to the side, all to justify the existence of these new characters. I get it, different sides have different goals, but I don't care about these people. I can't. And these quests drag on for so long.

    If you're a die hard The Last Of Us fan for the story, this game MIGHT be rude awakening. I say might because there's a chance you will appreciate the symbolism behind this narrative. I didn't.
    If gameplay is all you want, this is better than the first one.

I don’t care if Abby is trans and Ellie is a lesbian, I just don’t care (good on them) what I do care about is that you’re forced to play as a character that I just don’t care about (Abby) I found myself during her gameplay parts, rushing and skipping the cinematic scenes. Not even looking about, looking for notes and clues and cards like I do with Ellie in her play through. I just don’t think Abbys story is good. You built up a character development in the Last of us 1 to have it shattered in Last Of Us 2, then make us play a character that we don’t want to be (maybe some people do). I get Mr Miller has to die, it’s good for the story, but the way he went out is just ridiculous. The Last Of Us 1 was profound and groundbreaking. GAMEPLAY - TLOU2's gameplay is AMAZING, In every encounter with the Scars, Wolves, or Infected your choices truly matter as your resources are very minimal encouraging players to really play smart. Players who explore are rewarded greatly with pieces of story, or items that come in handy. GRAPHICS - The graphics in this game are probably the best the PlayStation has to offer in terms of realism. STORY - In this game we follow the journey of two different protagonists Abby and Ellie both in their own path of revenge. In the first hour or so of the game we watch as Abby brutally tortures and kills Joel as Ellie watches, and the story seems to have established Abby as the antagonist. The game constantly has you play as Abby in hopes of you sympathizing for her by seeing her side of the story but ultimately fails. The game's final mission has you hunting Abby after receiving a lead that she may be in Santa Barbara, but before she leaves she is given an ultimatum to move on and live with her new life or to dwell in the past, and ends with Ellie's own self-destruction, gaining nothing and losing everything she ever had. OVERALL- This game was heartbreaking to play not because it was bad but because of amazing it could've been and how it played out. And when I finally reached the ending of the game it didn't feel deserved, it didn't feel right. This is my first time writing a review on a game, thank you to anyone who read it! Expand

    What really ruins this game, is the story. Never I felt so disconnected from the characters. I played the first last of us recently and I learned to love these characters and their interactions but this game ruins all that. Everything the old characters do seems out of character and unjustifiable, it ruined the whole immersion for me. I can't relate to the new characters at all, their reasons seem so unjustifiable and out of place. It's everything so unappealing that I found myself skipping areas and forcing myself through the game just to get to the ending.
    The ending could be worse but could be a lot better as well - just takes the meaning of the whole character development until that point.
    The main characters very badly written - Ellie is a shadow of what it used to be and Abby couldn't be more unappealing and predictable.
    The whole writing of this game is bad, there's a lot of scenes for shock value, plot armour, pacing issues and most of the story is flashbacks inside flashbacks inside flashbacks.
    The most enjoyable story moments for me was the interactions of young Ellie and Joel, which was made the first game great...
    I think the game could be a lot better if the line of the event were laid out differently - this would allow for more connection with the characters and now what drives them.
    I will not play this game again and I wish I never played it in the first place, I fell like this entry takes a bit of quality to the franchise.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved the first part very much, and the first half of the second part is great as well. BUT!

    First of all, the gameplay is nearly as great as the graphics and the sound. Naughty Dog has clearly made another game with a great atmosphere. However, it continues the story of part 1 which had above all a fantastic story and made it easy for players to build up an emotionally intense connection to the main characters. This is continued by the developers in the first half of the game, but then they betray their concept. Spoiler:

    Naughty Dog do everything to develop hate for Abby on the player's side. In my opinion, they do that much too well in view of the second half of the game. We have travelled with Joel and Ellie all the time, and there will be few players of the first part who don't love these characters. Now we must watch Abby kill Joel in the most cruel way. That's okay in matters of storytelling and a very shocking scene. But it prevents the player from developing any positive feelings for Abby, and now I have played her for many hours... I do not know how this is to work. The second half of the story is very much in lack of emotions because of this problem. I hope Abby will die in the end, but making her a playable character through several chapters was a fault. Even the try to make the player understand her feelings does not work with me. The flashbacks are made nicely, but they cannot wake a real feeling of pity for Abby. We have first met her when she was rescued by Joel and gratefully tortured him to death. And now we are supposed to feel with her? That does not work, Naughty Dog! You cannot do something like that in a game that lives so much of its story. I'd like to know if ANYONE enjoyed playing Abby after Joel's death.
    Furthermore, I just talked (playing Ellie again) to Tommy who had been shot intohis head by Abby before. Why does he survive this as if it never had happened, while an arrow in his leg still has so big influence on his walking???? VERY poor storytelling in my opinion.

    TLOU2 is a very good game in the first half but quite a fail in the second. Abby finally develops some character when she saves Lev and Ayra. However, she then even betrays her own friends. And this character is to be played about 50% of the game... Almost worse is the "deus ex machina" Tommy on the farm; he really should not have survived this or at least not be ableto travel any more.
    I only hope the ending will be better and Ellie gets her revenge. I wouldnt be surprised if Ellie refuses to kill Abby in the last minute or even gets killed herself. The story of this game is just as awful as the first part's one was great.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is OK. To have to even be saying this about my favourite franchise of all time is a letdown of its own. The game is stunning. From environmental detail to facial recognition and character animation it's all a leap in the right direction as far as technology goes. The gameplay itself is something i was pleasantly okay with. I also enjoyed gameplay from the first one and though they're quite similar in how they play, the second one has obvious improvements and doesn't feel as clunky. So of course we get to the storyline and character development. Unfortunately, this is where the game drops off tremendously for me. I can understand how they were trying to make me sympathise and care for the character that is abby and frankly, she isn't a terrible character. I even found myself enjoying some of her missions more than ellies as they were more creative and adrenaline fueled at times. I also enjoyed the implementation of yara and lev. I thought they were great flushed out characters with interesting enough plotlines. This however does not mask the fact that abby commits quite an unforgivable act on one of my favourite video game characters to date in what i see as an impossibly stupid scenario to be put into. I also REALLY disliked the times i was forced to chase down the likes of tommy and worst of all, beat the living hell out of ellie. This just made me extremely uncomfortable and i felt sick by the end of it to be completely honest. Not in a good way. To top this whole fiasco off, i didn't even get revenge in the end. After watching such an anti-climactic ending to an otherwise disappointing game as far as story takes it, i was left with a really sour taste in my mouth. You send ellie all the way to santa barbara after killing thousands of people along the way and she suddenly decided it wasn't the right thing to do? That makes 0 sense and it really highlights the measure of disappointment i had with the conclusion as ellie sat there in the water realizing she lost everything and got nothing in return. She deserves better than that and joel deserved better than he got. The infuriating part about it is that there are glimpses of quality writing and storytelling in here. The flashbacks that are littered throughout the game were awesome to play through. I just think you sacrificed a rock-solid foundation that is joel and ellie for a shaky, kindergarden built chair of a foundation that is abby. I don't know how you expected people to appreciate this game for what it is. It baffles me. What's done is done though. Graphics - 10/10

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If this game were a stand alone with new characters never seen before it could maybe be a 7 or 8, but as a sequel to such a great game using well established and loved characters which it treats so poorly, I feel it deserves a 4 or 5.

    The graphics are exceptional and the world is fun to explore; the environment puzzles feel like they've taken a step up from the last game with the addition of jumping/ropes. The gameplay and atmosphere is good enough to keep me entertained even if it isn't revolutionary and hasn't changed much since the last game.

    However, this is a story based game and with all the relationship drama (two love triangles?) inserted throughout I felt like I was playing a soap-opera. The entirety of Abby's section, especially the Yara and Lev on the island parts, felt like gameplay filler that really added nothing to the story.

    The adverts and trailers were specifically altered to make people believe Joel was in the game for longer than he was which is a cheap trick on the fans. With Joel gone so early on, the thing which made the first game so great (Joel and Ellie's relationship) is wiped away and replaced with brand new characters that try to fill that gap he left in the game. No matter how well performed, they are never going to fill that vacuum.

    The kicker for me is how the game tries so hard to make us empathise with Abby yet shows her as a bloodthirsty killer who is happy to murder a pregnant woman. Joel and Tommy go out of their way to save her multiple times in the beginning yet there's no nuance to how she behaves during the death scene or even afterwards when they are back in Washington. She doesn't take time to evaluate that Joel, who she thought was evil, risked his own life to selflessly save hers even though she was a stranger. She goes straight from accepting his help multiple times to happily torturing him, and we're supposed to like her enough to play as her for half the game. My heart sank when I first picked up pills as Abby and realised I was going to play as her for a long time.

    I feel bad giving such a low score because i loved the first game but as far as i'm concerned this game is 100% NOT canon.

    Also, there's no Factions MP which was a surprisingly fun addition in the first instalment.

The first is a masterpiece of storytelling, and unfortunately the sequel does not do it justice. Plot points are forgotten, or poorly handled, as well as the ending being extremely lackluster and void of reason. There are many who rate the game so low simply because of certain themes, but when playing the game itself, these 'SJW" themes are non-existent and handled very well. Overall, The last of us two is an incredible game, with a poor and lazy story. If you're a fan of the first, or love the world itself, I would recommend it for the experience itself, only when the game is eventually on sale. Overall, it is a technical marvel, but will be remembered for it's poor storytelling which does a disservice to The last of us brand, which should have been left alone after the first installment. Really liked the moments with flashbacks, I honestly feel the game should have been played like that. But no, 50% of the game I have to play a killer of Joel, who has no empathy after killing. Ellie did vomit after killing Owen and co. Abby didn't, I hated her. I am also disappointed because of the false marketing. Yes, I Joel deserved to die, exactly like that, but not at the first 2 hours of the game. **** Abby, ruined the franchise

I have waited 7 years to know how this amazing story would develop... first of all, Ellie never even got the chance to truly apolagize Joel, keeping in mind that the only thing he did has SAVE HER, over and over again. Then the game goes to a path where one of the most beloved characters dies in such a miresable way. I was so shock that I didn't even know if i would like to continue playing. Joel deserved vengeance. The only goal Ellie had on tis game was to kill all of the people that had helped to murder Joel in such a brutal way, and she didn't even had the guts to do that. And by the ending of the story, Joel is dead, Tommy almost died, Ellie lost her family and two fingers for NOTHING. All these years waiting, and this is what we get? I'm devastated.
    So many hours playing as Abby, knowing that she killed one of my favorite characters.
    The gameplay is really nice, the graphics are awesome... but is that the only thing that should matter? What about actually having an AWESOME development of the story? This is painful.

The Last of Us 2 não é um jogo pra quem quer heroísmo, certo ou errado... Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll give this game a 7. Of course I'm disappointed that they killed Joel in the first 2 hours of the game, and I don't like they try to make you feel why "Abby" did it and that you should be sorry for her. And they try to introduce us a lot of not needed female characters (god knows why). The story is not bad but really basic and predictable, it doesn't make sense that you don't feel sorry for the hundreds of people you killed but you do feel sorry for Abby and let her live, it just doesn't make sense. I was hoping for more character development with Jesse and Tommy, but they just died in one second with no regret (GIRLS AT POWEEEEER!!!!). It's a good game though, long and enjoyable. But not a 9.5 as the press said. Expand

The trailers lied to the players, giving an idea Joel would still be alive, shame on the game company for doing that. The game showed flashbacks which in a better light, telling the story of the first game in a total different way. The game has some strange things happening, like an eight month pregant going to battlefield and squeezing her belly on the floor. The game is sad and depressing which could work but releasing this type of game during an actual pandemic is really unfortunate and bad timing.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Not the best game of all time and not the worst. Don’t trust the extreme reviews in both ways. The graphics and the gameplay is mostly on top of all ps4 games till now. The story is not bad and no masterpiece. To have full fun with the game you have to accept the feelings naughty dog punches you in your face. If you can’t accept the second story part and can’t get any connection to Abby (like me) prepare yourself for 12 hours of good standard shooter. When I had to rate the game to this point it would get 9/10 but after it and the last part of the game that feels a bit like filler I can’t give the game more than 5 points. Many story parts feel forced and don’t make sense.

    I totally respect the risky way naughty dog went with this game but I think it doesn’t work out. After a few days since completing the game I think it was a cool idea but they chose the wrong franchise and ruined some of the best characters in gaming history.

    I think it’s not fair to trash the scores but it’s also not fair to say the most bad reviews are from trans- and homophobic users. There are many reasonable critics which only critic the game itself and not its agenda.

Amazing graphics and decent game play, however it is similar to the first game, but personally I felt the story severely lacked and with it being a story based game, the scoring took of from it is much greater. I also feel that Joel had to die but I feel that the way it was executed did a disservice to his character despite his flaws which ruins the relationship us players built up about him from the first game by killing him off in such a painful and horrible way. Despite the message the game tries to convey about revenge, it also misses out on the point of justice as Abby got away with all the terrible crimes she committed herself. Fundamentally killing a beloved character off in vein will never make something successful unless it is executed properly. For example, Joel could of died saving Ellie and Abby could of seen this as justice to her own pain but also forgiveness as she sees the man she hunted do something selfless which conveys both a message in revenge is wrong but to also forgive people when the try to do the right thing which in turn shows development in Abby's character as she changes her ideal of revenge. But instead of this we saw her commit evil actions which makes us hate her even more when we play as her. Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was poorly written, horribly paced and also hardly added new mechanics or enemies. How in anybody's mind would think anyone would want to play HALF the game as Joel's KILLER!? And not only that, they took out the amazing multiplayer because they wanted to "Focus on the story?" Not only is the story a slog to get through (except playing as Ellie) we don't relate to Abby or her **** unfunny ass friends which all seem likey **** people mind you. They're just seems to be no real honest direction here and it really shows in the end product. There is no desire to play through the game again. This was suppose to be ELLIE'S story, not some two sided story mess we got. Although the locations are great, (even when playing as Abby, the island, the skyscraper were cool locations) it just has bad pacing. Abby is about to shoot Ellie then for like 12 HOURS we have to sit down and try to relate to Joel's killer? For what? Why do I care about Abby? I think her design is cool the way she slams down on her enemies with a hefty "thump" but she feels poorly implemented in the story and to try and make us the players who journeyed with Joel and Ellie in the first game sympathize with her? It just does not work, and it does not. Man I can't believe they cut multiplayer for a mediocre story. Expand

The infected got me with multiple jump scares. Being able to lay flat and other new perks were fun to use. Loved the explosive arrows. The story is unfortunately terrible. The trailers and even description of the game is deceiving. Due to bad storytelling and pacing issues I spent half the time feeling miserable and angry. The other half I enjoyed was due to gameplay and only when I played as Ellie. A good portion of the game is spent being the person who killed Joel. I do no care for Abby and after playing as her for half the game I still hate her character. Her story was pointless and was just to bring us back to where we were at 10 hours earlier in the story. I was super excited to play this for years and super disappointed when it ended. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played the first TLOU a week before this game came out and I found it pretty enjoyable. It wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite. I thought the gameplay was alright, the only thing that subtracted my opinions on the gameplay was the fact that the infected were not fun to fight, for me personally. The ending however was amazing, I thought it was such a cool climax to the story of how Joel did not want to lose the only thing left he had in his life

    TLOU2 had a cool story concept, trying to take down Abbys friends to find her location and get avenge Joel, but I feel like the execution could have been better

    The Good:
    The Gameplay: Even though it is almost the exact same gameplay as the first game, I felt like they added mechanics that made the gameplay loop a little bit more enjoyable in this game. I loved the dodge and prone features the most, those added a lot to the encounters. The jump button was pretty useless though lol. (Gameplay - 8/10)

    Graphics: Not a lot can be said about this. The graphics were super stunning and created amazing environments, although every once in a while a characters model would look a bit weird(Graphics - 9/10)

    The Eh:
    Story (Before the ending) : First off I want to say I didn't hate the story, but there are some subtle things here and there that I thought was dumb. The first plot point I thought was kind of dumb was the fact that Joel saved Abby. In the first game he knows not to trust people, it's shown multiple times throughout the game, but in this story he just finds a random girl in the woods and brings her back to her place and talks about Jackson and his name?? I would understand this a lot more if they might have explained that he grew to trust people more, but this came out of no where

    People also say that Joels death was stupid for such an amazing character, and I feel like this was kind of the point. I feel like Neil wanted the player to be upset that the legend went out like this, he wanted us to be upset with Abby for killing him so we can have more of a reason to want revenge, but instead more people were mad at the game and Neil

    Even though that part was questionable I kept going and I was enjoying the story of trying to hunt down the people who murdered Joel and constantly getting leads to where they are, and at the same time looking for Tommy. I loved the hospital fight with Nora, and I thought the aquarium scene was pretty cool too

    The next story moment that was questionable was the switch to Abby. At first I hated it. I thought "why would I want to play as the bad guy for the next 3 days", but it turned out to not be as bad as I thought it would be. I definently would've preferred to play more as Ellie though. I understood what they were trying to do with this section of the game. They wanted you to see Abby and her friends that Ellie killed as good people so you could see how both of these protagonists were hurt by each-other and they both have/had the intention to avenge a loved one. I feel like they wanted you to not root for anyone in this situation. After all of Abbys arc, I still wanted Ellie to get her revenge. I did start to like Abby as a character/villain/"good person" but I never wanted her to get away/win. Ellie was already too committed to just lose or give up. (Or so I thought)

    I also didn't care for the part of Abbys story when she helps the two scar kids. I understand why she did it and why Neil wanted to do it. Neil wanted her to seem like a better person and she wanted to do it because they saved her life. But going across a tall bridge and fighting a new type pf infected boss to save that one girls life for her to just die like 45 minutes later made the entirety of Day 2 feel pointless and wasted. (Story - 7/10)

    Those were the only parts of the story that really didn't sit well with me, but now it's time for the part of the game that probably disappointed me the most

    The Bad:
    Ending: I first thought the ending was the first part of the farm. If it would've ended there, I would have thought it was anticlimactic, but an okay ending. But nope it had to keep going. Ellie wants to hunt down Abby to finish what Joel started. She nearly kills Abby, then stops, and lets her go, making the entire game and story (for me) feel pointless. I understood that she realized that revenge is wrong, but the last two hours of searching for Abby just to let her go felt so pointless. The ending was super unsatisfying but I feel like that was the point. I wish Ellie would have gotten her revenge and come back home to Dina, but Neil wanted to tell a different but understandable story where an unhappy ending is not uncommon in this world. (Ending - 5/10)

    Overall, I enjoyed my time with the game. The game was definitely carried by the gameplay rather than the story. The story was alright with a crummy ending for Ellie.
    7/10.

    Have a great day!

    The gameplay is so much better than The original with many improvements I love the new combat and some of the new weapons this game brings. However, I didn't play last of us 2 just for gameplay I played it for its story and oh boi is it bad... Now the game has some really cool story moments when you're in the flashback scenes but the overall story is complete jank full of plot holes for example in the first game Joel was a deep complex character that knew the wasteland but here he's like oh look strangers hers my name and id dw about it. for me he's not even the same character any more.
    Most characters in this game are so 1 note its not funny take Dina as an example what is her character outside of "I love Ellie" what is there? Sure we learn some stuff from her past, but she's so one note that's nowhere near as complex as character Bill in the first game or Tes or anyone else that was there. This is failure of a sequel in my opinion. If there's a 3rd part I'm not buying it.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I created this account to review this game. I have never felt the urge review a game more.
    This game in itself is about a 7/10, the story was over directed and cheap. Parts of it are just basically unexpected behavior from people just so that the story could move forward. (Character performances were an 11/10 however). The performances and beauty of the game make up for the useless (I exaggerate, it is ok, even good at times but goes on for too long and becomes boring) gameplay and cheap story.

    The overall ark seems to be written by a pretend philosopher kid, there are flashes of brilliance in the predictable pseudo moralistic story that this game is and the ending is just a cherry on top of the beautiful cake. Obvious and oft repeated things, generally considered common sense are treated as nuggets of rare wisdom.
    I knew Joel was gonna die, but didn't know he was gonna die thinking Ellie and his brother were gonna die to. We saw Joel learn to care again in the first game, to the point of murderous fault by the end of the game. He knew death was coming and he deserved it, there is a price to pay for things even when they are driven by love, but it could have been done substantially better, such an important scene could be given some room to breathe.

    As a squeal however it is a 2/10 for me, they **** every character I loved so much. They **** over Ellie, I wanted to play as her so bad but not in this story. The game should have not been a part of this story (franchise story), to make the art that is (to critics) TLOU2, they **** over many who loves TLOU. Don't get me wrong, there were cheap outs used in the first one too, but the number of jumps here was just painful. They make us hate the firefly leader (questionably aggressive behavior by her and her minions) before we murder everyone in the complex in the end, to maybe not make people completely hate the end (justifying questionable/bad actions by protagonists often done by representing those that action hurts as pure evil).

    This game was probably designed for critics. They tried to do a Kojima without any of Kojima's finesse or balls (He made a game designed around walking because he said he was tired of all the killing required in games).

    I guess i might also be partially at mistake for being venerable because I got involved the first one too much. This game mostly wiped out any trust I had on review websites (not because of their reviews, reviews are subjective, their behavior and statements about player dislike after the fact), I will probably never get as invested in a game again.

    In the end, to me subjectively, they sacrificed a 10/10 (who am i kidding TLOU was 11/10) to make a 7/10 (if I ignore the beauty of the game and attention to detail it is a 4/10).

    The game ended last night, so here's some pros/cons from me:

    Cons: * The end is not worth commenting on, I am simply disappointed with how the end was performed. As such, it is not terrible for me, but it is "poorly executed". Had they given us the right to choose it might have improved the impression; * Joel's death and treatment is simply disappointing to me, treated like some kind
    The game ended last night, so here's some pros/cons from me:

    Cons:
    * The end is not worth commenting on, I am simply disappointed with how the end was performed. As such, it is not terrible for me, but it is "poorly executed". Had they given us the right to choose it might have improved the impression;
    * Joel's death and treatment is simply disappointing to me, treated like some kind of NPC. When he already had to die, I expected it to be a dignified death, something in the style of Arthur Morgan;
    * the game is tiring at times, they should have shortened it by about 5-8 hours, and thus cut the price of the game itself;
    * too many unnecessary flashbacks;
    * versus the first sequel, the dialogues/stories in LoU2 seem empty, non-emotional to me and I just couldn't connect with the characters;
    * the story itself should have been arranged differently, maybe if we had just played with Abby first and then set out on a revenge campaign with Ellie, I guess that would have made some sense;

    Pros:
    * graphics that are really great for me and I'm thrilled with how they managed to push such graphics to the PS4;
    * the soundtrack/music in the game is phenomenal to me;
    * voice acting is great for me, especially when I hear Troy Baker;
    * gameplay may be out-dated to me, but I enjoyed it because I think there are more of these survival segments compared to its predecessors and I just enjoyed tacticing, sneaking around and thus removing enemies;
    * segments with Abby are even better for me in some parts than with Ellie, somehow I had a feeling that there was more to do/eliminate, also those segments were tenser, more challenging for me;

    Whether Abby is trans or not, I don’t know or care because I don’t think it’s that relevant in the whole story.
    Overall impression of me: 7/10.
    The weakest part of the game in my opinion is the story, which should have been better if they had been working on it for over 5 years and **** it, as they would say in sport “they dropped the ball”.
    I hope for the third part because I’m very interested in what would happen to the characters.

    Gameplay was basically the same as the first game with some added upgrades to skill tree and weapons.
    Graphics were amazing as always coming from naughty dog. The story wasn't so great as it was forced to have characters to go outside of their natural elements just to drive the narrative forward of revenge.

The game play, incredible, visuals stunning, sound design amazing, combat one or the best, story....well thus where it all falls apart, ABBY is a psychopath who has 0 morals or regrets for killing, she's hate full and a monster, no amount of dady flash backs or dog pets could ever make me like her we have 10 hours to like her and understand her point of view, but she savagely beat one of the best cheracters in a game, she lost 1, 1 person before she killed joel her father.we spend 14 hours with joel and ellie and let me tell you they lost a lot more ,Nellie shows resource for her actions when she kills a pregnant girl , abby was about to kill dina who is also preggo and she had a smile on her face and said good right before almost slitting her throat, then she goes and kills members of her own team without blinking ppl she talks to and eats with everyday she's a monster and the icing on the cake is we have to hunt ellie beat her within an inch of her life break her arm and then we dont even get to kill abby at the end because violence begets violence BUT WE ALREADY KNOW THAT they ruined the story and If there's a 3rd i wont be playing THEY DID NOT EARN THIS NO ONE LIKES ABBY!! Game is solid. Doesn't stand up to the hype. Combat is servicable. Slow and clunky. No one really thought the highlight of the original was the combat system, but it makes a return with minimal improvement. 6/10

    Graphics 10/10, this isn't surprising. It really is the highlight of the game. Everything that's done is mediocre, but you can experince mediocrity with a very pretty back drop.

    Graphics 10/10, this isn't surprising. It really is the highlight of the game. Everything that's done is mediocre, but you can experince mediocrity with a very pretty back drop. Level design: lures you into a false sense of freedom, but all paths branch from, and converge on conflict areas that are completely unavoidable. There's little to do in the environment, with most exploration only rewarded with resources. Other than resources the only reward for exploration is the games collectables. If you ever wanted a coin/card collecting simulator, this game is for you! 6/10

    Story: hate it. A simple revenge story that could have been entertaining, if the story didn't keep bashing you on the head very well known concepts. Yes, revenge comes at great personal cost... Yes, death and loss is traumatic... Yes, revenge starts a cycle of retaliation... it's almost condescending in it's constant harping on the theme. Almost as if the writers thought they had stumbled onto something new and profound. it falls apart in a final act that feels like all characters just completely lose all pre-conceived concepts and even common sense... and in the final scene it goes from harping on a simple theme, to trying to interject some new motivation that actually needs explaining, but does not. 3/10

    I'd give it a 5, which is the average.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The great visuals, graphics and gameplay are awfully shaded by the abysmal storytelling, dialogue and pacing of the game. The key events not only are poorly scripted, they are unnatural and sometimes painful to watch, when they could have been handled much better. The same happens with the characters, at their core there is potential for a really deep analysis, but the dialogue and actions just make them bland, uninteresting and even unlikeable. I have no doubts that the writers had a great story to tell and a very strong statement towards the current social and political state, but as sometime happens, it failed to deliver, and the unprofessional handling of the early criticism, censoring, extorting and calling for a politicial brawl just made it worse, forcing people to take sides. Devs, there is absolutely no problem with the inclusion of LGBT+ characters and there's absolutely no problem with political views expressed in a game, you just made a bad story and poorly written characters, and if you can´t handle criticism you are not worthy of being praised. There is just no satisfaction to be had from the story being told, it's not just that the story is bleak, it's down right depressing and not all enjoyable to experience.

    In game like the Last of Us story is king, and unfortunately the story really falls flat. There's still a lot to like about the game; it's not as horrible as people are making it out to be.

The story could have been way better than it ended up being. I mean come on Joel didn't have to die that way. And for those who keep complaining about the fact that he was foolish to trust Abby , just keep in mind that he was trying to change somehow for Ellie's shake. Also about Abby I am not sure if it was better for her to die or not. I was a bit confused at this moment. Ellie at the end is shown to be left behind by Dina but there's something debatable on the ending. In my opinion Dina didn't leave her, they just moved back on Jackson and Ellie came back only to find Joel's guitar making it the ending she deserved, leaving the past behind. Also I enjoyed playing as Abby too as it was a more realistic way to show that every story has two sides to be told. I cannot say that I liked Abby but at some point I sympathized with her. It was an unforgettable 30 hours gaming experience but I am not sure if I am going to revisit this game at least for a a long time. Expand

    To start, I want to state that I’m a lesbian (so...yeah, I’m a woman). That being said, it should mean something that I CLEARLY have no issue with Ellie being a gay. However, I don’t think anybody else really cares she is either. A crap ton of people kept incorrectly assuming Abby is trans (she’s not—the character “Lev” is), and their horrendous “It’s ma’am” comments GIVE THE REST OF USTo start, I want to state that I’m a lesbian (so...yeah, I’m a woman). That being said, it should mean something that I CLEARLY have no issue with Ellie being a gay. However, I don’t think anybody else really cares she is either. A crap ton of people kept incorrectly assuming Abby is trans (she’s not—the character “Lev” is), and their horrendous “It’s ma’am” comments GIVE THE REST OF US (reviewers) A BAD NAME. Don’t you get it? You’re giving stans/critics/journalists/game developers more ammunition to say, “SeE?? T0xiC PlaYerS R anTi-LGBT!” Your loud-mouthed bull**** is drowning out the real criticism people are having with the game. Listen. The game is BEAUTIFUL. The graphics are just...wow. I can’t even describe how intoxicated I was from the visuals in this game. I took several screenshots because the game was just so gorgeous. Also, the acting is SUPERB. This is why I am absolutely annoyed people are rating this anything lower than a 5. For god’s sakes...you’re just being an **** and you know it. People put their heart and soul into making this game. You’re crapping on their work because of ONE MAN—Neil Druckmann. Talk about agenda driven...0/10 reviewers are purely driven by their own hate-filled agenda. They want to hurt Naughty Dog and burn down all that go with it. You’re trash. Have some respect for those that had NOTHING to do with the story. They just did their jobs. With that said, I struggled between a 6 or a 7. The reasons I gave above certainly warrant a 7, but the negatives just outweighed the positives, I’m afraid. To start, I found the flashbacks so chaotic and improperly placed. I found myself INCREDIBLY annoyed at the start of the game when Ellie and Jesse are talking about “the kiss” that happened “last night” and there was a tense moment between Ellie and Joel. By the time we got to that specific flashback, it was like, what? 15 hours into the game? Maybe longer? Idk because the game was so damn long. I literally forgot all about it by the time the flashback occurred. It took me awhile to piece it together because it was just randomly squeezed in hours and hours later into the game. Which leads me to my next point. The game was just too damn long. I honestly don’t think I would have been too bothered by the length if they didn’t keep flashing back to things they barely made references to earlier in the game. The entire story is one long jigsaw puzzle you have to piece together. If it was a bit more linear, I don’t think I would’ve minded it so much. Last but not least...Abby. I’m sorry, Neil, you just didn’t sell me on her. I didn’t care about her story. I get that she lost her dad. I honestly get where you were going with it and the message you were trying to convey, but you forget that I had played an ENTIRE game with Ellie and Joel—characters I came to love and hold close to my heart. Ellie had so much more behind her vengeance in my eyes. Maybe I’m just being stubborn and closed-minded, but I just couldn’t see Abby’s vengeance equaling the pain Ellie had. And then you made me brutally FIGHT Ellie?? I had no choice. You made me freaking attack Ellie in the theater. I kept putting my controller down because I just hated it. Ugh. I freaking hated it. Idk man...it was a bold move, Neil. I get it. It just didn’t resonate with me. I’m sorry. Expand

I almost didn’t finished it. If they simply just deleted Abby part I wouldn’t even notice it such a shame that a game has so much potential and I simply will forget Expand

Amazing graphics, but a terrible story and the gameplay has not changed enough since the first game, and the new character abby does not have any redeeming characteristics what so ever. It will probably get game of the year, but for what reason I don't know. Expand

As a veteran player, I was expecting too much about the last of us part 2, but unfortunately I must say that it failed to meet my expectations I have several points of view to criticize, but it is not a secret that the story is the biggest point that was left to duty, it felt full of plot holes that they tried to fill to the end and failed to supply
    She feels a little lazy, lacking, with a terrible gap in the plot since (spoiler alert) after Joel's death we all would feel that Ellie would try to take revenge until she succeeded, whatever the cost since in the first information of the game it was it's about revenge, and if they've managed to finish the game I think they've stayed like me, strongly questioned In terms of gameplay, graphics, and soundtrack os perfect but in history (the main attraction) it falls to short In short, obviously it is recommended, but definitely not a priority, as for my tlou 2 I think I will play it again, but it will be a long time for it ... If they have the opportunity, of course they should buy it, but if they are not fans from the franchise, or you can buy other games, you could just as well wait for an offer or just let it go

10. However, I could never get fully invested in playing Abby. Anyone who loved the first game I'm sure felt similar throughout the game. Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly I thought the game was solid, the story was a bit of a mess. Not very well told with a lot padding....so much padding. Like 10 hours of padding, but that doesnt ditract from my views on or because the have is still fun to play as it's basically a carbon copy of the first.

    But let's address the plot for a minute, I understand where they're going and trying to do a story about Ellie suffering from PTSD from Joel's death but it was just done poorly.

    There are flashbacks within flashbacks and the overall plot is a bit of a confusing mess, seems like they tried to do a Pulp Fiction but didn't know when to stop.

    So the gameplay it's good, it's basically the first game with extra and the plot after all said and done is a solid okay, I did sympathise with the main antagonist by the end of the game.
    The problem is it takes a good while to get there and can get tedious waiting for the next bit of plot that has anything to do with the overall story.

    Hopefully they'll do a better job with The Last Of Us Part 3

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 7 years of anticipation, I admit I was abit disappointed with what Naughty Dog brought to the table with TLoU II. It’s certainly not a 3.5 given by gamers, but it’s definitely not a 10/10 masterpiece, which is really sad to say because it had all the potential for a real game of the year contender. The backdrop for TLOU was refreshing, it brought so much content to the table & the characters were so relatable because they were so.. real with their personal struggles. I felt that naughty dog could have built on what happened after the ending instead of fast forwarding 5 years, dropping us randomly into Seattle. What went right: Graphics - I’m honestly impressed with what ND managed to pull off given how old the PS4 console is. Lighting was amazing especially in the forested areas, models were crisp, detailed and just a beauty to look at. Gameplay - improving upon the mechanics of TLOU, I find the combat system much more fluid and so satisfying every time I pop the head off the infected. Crafting & upgrading your character hasn’t really changed fundamentally, you’ll still be going around scrounging for supplies. Every gun feels punchy, weighty and powerful. Even playing on hard, the difficulty is just right without you feeling too over or under powered. There’s a bit more puzzles to solve now to catch a break every now and then. Character animations are extremely life like and it’s just a joy to play and appreciate the motion capture work ND has put into. Environment - Seattle is sprawling with Wild life, places to explore and new areas to discover. There’s so many more buildings, rooms & creepy alleys to explore with the power of the PS4. The city really feels alive as you can hear the environmental sounds around you as you explore it. What went wrong: Story, story, story - sadly ND seemed to have lost the whole point of TLOU franchise. The lack of a solid story made this into some generic action adventure game. What made TLOU a lasting impression even till this date wasn’t the gameplay but the story telling. Every character was real, with their history, motivations and personality. In contrast every character, even Ellie was bland, forgettable and just plain boring to look at. There’s nothing about them, why are they doing certain things, how did they get here, or what’s their part in this game. You could remove 90% of the characters’ dialogue and it will still be exactly the same action adventure game. Because everyone is just shooting and killing first and asking questions later! See someone, “oh I don’t know maybe I’ll just kill that person first and then figure out what’s going on on my own by scrounging up notes lying around everywhere” (Except the flashbacks, that was really extremely well done)
    “That” scene that everyone hated was really just there for shock value, I felt that it had no purpose and meaning because nothing links up.
    Even halfway through the game I still don’t know why is everyone doing what they are doing, why is everyone just killing everyone and not asking questions? Was the whole point of playing another perspective just to make us empathise and sympathetic to their cause? It was really quite badly executed. Instead of feeling for them, that segment was excruciating, and just painful to play. And I was just dragging my feet to complete it. Seriously ND, you can’t just expect us to sympathise with anyone you make us play. If your goal was to make the single most hated character in video gaming industry, this takes the cake. Social norms - there’s really no need to be an “inclusive” game by incorporating certain sexual orientation in life just to appease everyone. It’s painful to watch, full of cringe and just feels so... forced. There’s no history between them as far as I can tell so I don’t get why ND has to put it in. You don’t need to conform to society and please SJWs just because certain group calls for it. Adding it doesn’t automatically make it acceptable. Summary
    I’d wish you would have focused more on the story and developed each character properly. And for the life of me, please remove all these unnecessary gameplay about another person, we really don’t care. If you bought God of War you’d expect to play as Kratos, and not some random creep right? Same logic. Without a strong story every aspect of the game no matter how strong just falls apart and becomes just another generic action game. There’s nothing to gel these pieces together. I look forward to another game in the next few years, ND.

But I’m ok with that.I was able to enjoy visually Mechanics pretty much the same old naughty dog style , now you have to upgrade everything in order to be functional on your style( silent , gunsmith, bare fist, or artifact builder) 3 new fungus zombies. Which is ok .( the same model appears every time , but i can manage)

    Soundtrack - master piece 10 out of ten . Good job there.

    Now the story , the first game was about zombies , but was mainly about the unconditional love that a father has towards his daughter . And how this can be so strong , that a father would sacrifice the humanity’s fate. In this particular case , Joel killed 400+ (If not more ) people in order to save Ellie , and old man who is experienced and passed through storms and adversity for years. It was a brilliant character with a strong development , which caused a bond with several players. And that’s what we loved about the first game. Seems to me like a lazy approach , you have such a charismatic character, and you want to introduce the new Eli ( which lost her style, and the writers also ditched her development) and Abby which is an OP character( kills zombies with her fists WTF). And in order to these protagonists to shine , the easiest resort is to kill Joel and the beginning of the game. Instead of developing the characters correctly, so you can empathize with them. The firefly connection is magnificent , and I even understand the righteousness of killing Joel. But you decide to tear Joel apart in a very simple and stupid way, at the beginning of the game to avoid that time for writing and development, you decide that Joel has to be killed kill by some random ( not so random ) girl on steroids and prolong the game in a repetitive way , in order to introduce all diversity quota. In order for your other characters to shine( lev, Abby , Jesse )you decide to kill the pace by adding a plot twist of the plot twist of the plot twist , you are about to arrive to a place and there’s always something that interrupts you such as a fall , soldiers , clickers etc. And it’s always the same pattern.

    I don’t mind that Elli is lesbian , or Abby looks like a man , or the fact that you completely ignored tommy to avoid complexity. What I do care is about the characters development , and how they are driven. It’s not that Abby pursues for revenge( loved the love triangle ) , it is how unbelievable the character is due to bad writing. I liked the end though , Made me cry like a baby.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
