    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Many good things about the game. However, the story was very disappointing. I went in expecting to have a great experience with the characters I fell in love with in the first game. Not the case...
    The pacing of the game was not very good either, felt very stagnant at times, like the game just stopped progressing. The ending was very depressing and disappointing as well. The gameplay could have been better. Felt like no matter what I did to be stealthy I would be forced into a situation of being seen or would be seen while hiding. So stealth was not very good which I personally enjoy the most in games like this. Overall probably won't go back and play again, at least not until a long time has passed and I am looking for a game to just fill my time between new releases.    … Expand

    Я могу долго расписывать заигру, но 70 часов дают свое, уже не имею сил и желания, порекомендовать как и первую часть я не в способен, однако это яркий пример того как имея все можно лишиться всего. Порой мне кажется,что на студии висит проклятье Дрейка, на мой взгляд в ней работают замечательные художники, киноооператоры и звукооператоры, а так же постановщики боевых сцен, но когда делоЯ могу долго расписывать заигру, но 70 часов дают свое, уже не имею сил и желания, порекомендовать как и первую часть я не в способен, однако это яркий пример того как имея все можно лишиться всего. Порой мне кажется,что на студии висит проклятье Дрейка, на мой взгляд в ней работают замечательные художники, киноооператоры и звукооператоры, а так же постановщики боевых сцен, но когда дело доходит до самого геймплея, то напарники поражают своей недоработанностью, а они неотемлемая часть,и я скопил порядка нескольких часов подстав, коротко : мне нужно твое укрытие, а ты в расход（в лучшем случае застрянешь в текстурах) и все бы ничего, но еще кривые скрипты и ужасное повествование мира, с основным сюжетом бог с ним.
    P.S. в сюжет у игр я перестал верить давно, есть рально малая часть игр с выстроеным повествованием, глубоким, а самое главное с внятным сюжетом, мотивациями, логикой персонажей и лором. Но здесь явно есть задатки, может студии стоит разобраться с проблемами такой давности?    … Expand

    Сюжет сносит крышу, очень мощно. Игра потрясающая и прекрасная. Да игровая механика не сильно отличается от 1 части, но стала выше на голову или две. Никакой пропаганды в игре не заметил.

    -Strong gameplay
    -Intelligent enemy AI
    -Stunning graphics
    -Great sound design and visual effects
    -Heartfelt flashbacks of Joel and Ellie

    CONS:
    -Poorly written, one dimensional side characters
    -Convoluted story with odd pacing
    -Emotionally manipulative
    -Meaningless sex scene
    -Hypocritical sense of morality between Abby and Ellie
    -Lack of engaging puzzles
    -Transphobia is somehow present in a post apocalyptic world
    -The ending It's hard to sympathize with Abby and play as her when she just killed a beloved character in the series. (Ex: If I pointed out a stranger and told you that the stranger was a child abductor, unless you're convinced otherwise, you will not see that stranger in the same light) In the same way, we are forced to play as a character we've already labeled as a cold, heartless killer. Trying to change our mind that she's a better person than we thought is a much more difficult feat to accomplish than just playing that character fresh with no labels attached.

    With that being said, this game could have been so much better than what we've experienced. According to Neil Druckman, the game was initially planned to be open world and Abby's gameplay would be at the start of the game (BEFORE YOU KILL JOEL). This alone would have made the game much more palatable. (And would resolve the previous point made earlier about feeling like you're forced to play as Abby)

    Neil Druckman could have given the players a choice: Kill Joel/Don't kill Joel and Kill Abby/Don't kill Abby. There could have been alternate endings.

    Clearly the idea of morality in this game is hogwash. Abby kills Joel because he killed her dad even though Joel saved Abby in the past. You're telling me Abby couldn't feel the same way that Ellie felt at the end of the game? Both Ellie and Abby were fueled by revenge, but taking revenge was only bad for one of them? For me, the biggest elephant in the room was the nonsensical transphobic cult in a zombie driven world where society and modern culture are stripped away. It can't be helped that this was done to empower the LGBTQ community and there's nothing wrong with that, but at least make it a little more subtle. With all this being said, this game does not deserve neither the vast amount of 0/10 nor the 10/10 scores. Good things and bad things can be said about this game. Ultimately, what made The Last of Us such a special game is completely lost in this sequel.    … Expand

    Sin duda la historia es el talón de aquiles del juego, pero todo lo que no respecta a la historia, es decir la jugabilidad, la enfermiza atencion al detalle, el diseño de los mapas y la inteligencia artificial de los enemigos le suman por lo menos 5 puntos en mi opinion. La comodidad de los controles junto a    Seamos realistas, no podés ponerle un 3 a un juego como The Last of Us Part II.
    Sin duda la historia es el talón de aquiles del juego, pero todo lo que no respecta a la historia, es decir la jugabilidad, la enfermiza atencion al detalle, el diseño de los mapas y la inteligencia artificial de los enemigos le suman por lo menos 5 puntos en mi opinion. La comodidad de los controles junto a la fluidez de las animaciones hacen el controlar a Elliie y Abby una experiencia sumamente óptima, y ni hablar de la calidad Gráfica. Cada vez que matas a un enemigo, sus compañeros gritan sus nombres entre indicaciones de combate, disparos y alaridos de dolor, y junto a otros detalles es una proeza tecnica. Le doy un 7 en lugar de un 5 debido a que la historia no empieza nada mal, aunque todos sabemos que pasa despues de ese primer acto tan bien llevado, los niveles empiezan a volverse repetitivos, el juego intenta darnos un mensaje mal llevado sobre la venganza, hasta que llega el tercer acto en la granja y en la isla y todo el potencial del juego y lo que nos habian contado se va al tacho, dandonos una tercera faccion totalmente innecesaria y parodicamente malvada que conduce a un final en donde Ellie perdona a Abby sin motivo aparente y despues de haber matado a cientos de soldados sin ningun tipo de remordimiento ¡Y PARA COLMO, EL JUEGO CASTIGA A ELLIE COMO SI HUBIERA CUMPLIDO SU VENGANZA, QUITANDOLE LOS DOS DEDOS Y LA COMPAÑIA DE DINA, SIENDO QUE ELLIE ENCONTRO EL PERDON (POR ALGUNA RAZON). Los chasqueadores dejaron de ser ese peligro que te mataba de un toque, y la I.A. de todos los zombies en general es nefasta.
    En fin, como ya dije lo unico bueno de su historia es su primer acto en Jackson hasta la muerte de Joel, y todo el resto del relato es una profunda decepción, pero todo lo demas esta tan bien hecho, tan perfectamente pulido y trabajado, respetando y hasta mejorando la increible jugabilidad del primer juego, mi conclusión es que The Last of Us Part II es un mal guion, y es HORRIBLE como secuela, pero es una MARAVILLA como juego y un buen ejemplo de como hacer un shooter de supervivencia en tercera persona.    … Expand

I know, the people that gave this game a 10/10 are going to dog on me and other people like me. People can be disappointed with a product and leave a negative or mixed review, just because they are bringing up valid criticism towards your game does not mean they are trolls or crybabies, they are just looking at the game through a different critical eye than what you are. For me, the story was the biggest let down. The new characters for the most part didn't land with me, and the ones that did are killed off and quickly forgotten, like they never even existed. Leading up to this game there was false advertising on the content of the game and the story, and obviously there's going to be backlash from that. On top of that if you brag about how you intended for your game to be divisive i think you forfeit your right to complain about half your audience not liking your game. This game literally takes the "revenge is bad" storyline and beats you over the head with it over and over again. Gamers are smarter than that, we know "revenge=bad"....we didn't wait 7 years for that. Correction, revenge is bad unless you're Abby. Abby gets her revenge and in my eyes gets away with it. Ellie loses EVERYTHING. It is also blatantly obvious that they go out of their way to force you to like Abby (Hey, look at how Abby plays with dogs, wow such a great person!). Finally, Metacritic, if you are going to be deleting negative or mixed reviews on your website that are clean genuine reviews then please do likewise with the 10/10 reviews that are either clearly copied/pasted, or are clearly made by bots. Otherwise you are just aiding in the score of this game being artificially inflated. However, I don't think you will do anything, as we all know that is a one way street, they will delete only the fake/suspect reviews that are negative (even just outright deleting legitimate negative reviews), but they will leave the fake 10/10 reviews alone. That is how it works. This game IS NOT a 10/10. It is also not a 0/10. Even though I believe this game is a 5/10, realistically it is probably around a 6/10 or a 7/10, at its absolute highest 8/10...but anymore than that and you're just pretending, I'm sorry.… Expand

The last of us part 2 es un juego que está muy bien desde la secuencia de Ellie se plantean las cosas bien y todo pasa por una razón , pero cuando se corta el momento del teatro para dar la secuencia de Abby todo se va cuesta abajo porque lo la mitad de lo que se cuenta en su secuencia no aporta nada a la historia únicamente está para que dure más , luego esta la parte de la granja cuando te das cuenta la cantidad de incoherencias que se plantean , como en la secuencia te enfrentas a una nueva facción porque si , se tenían varios escenarios e ideas ya planteadas en el juego para hacer una mejor secuencia final , para que para que almenos llegara a tener una mejor calificación y que se justifiquen estos 7 años de espera , el juego si es cierto que tiene varios aspectos positivos , pero hay una gran cantidad de cosas negativas que pasan que opacan a las buenas, tampoco entiendo el hate que se le hace al juego como si no fuera lo peor , cuando en realidad tiene muchas cosas positivas a tomar den cuenta… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game, graphics wise, was really great. It felt realistic and made all the zombies, I.e. clicker blister etc.. more terrifying. The landscapes were also great. However, the fact of playing as Abby, the antagonist and character who killed Joel with a golf club, Is not so best option for the game. The redemption of her isn’t handled very well as we still hate her in the end. Once the game finished she didn’t even die which made it very unsatisfactory for its ending. You, the player, should really have primarily played as Ellie and not Abby at all. Story could’ve been better (excluding the Abby parts would’ve been a fantastic choice to improve up… Expand

    Great and ambitious game that dared to tell a story from both sides of the coin. This is a direct continuation of the previous game, we play as Ellie and Abby (Not at the same time).

    Spectacular graphics, bigger levels to navigate through and explore and overall improved controls over the previous game, and the stealth is very good (But could be improved), also the sound design; ambiance, guns, monsters and enemies are over the top, alongside with very polished animations.

    Problems i had with the game:
    - Stealth while mostly good it is impossible to do a pacifist run because some levels are designed in a way that two guards dont move from the same position blocking the only way to the exit. Also non-lethal weapons are not existent (This is a problem for me since i like to not kill people in games if i have the opportunity)

    - Also in some levels even though you got pass all the enemies around they will get alerted because the only exit is blocked by a QTE.

    - The story structure; While at the climax of Ellie's story, there is an abrupt rewind where you play as the secondary protagonist to see her side of the story.

    - No skins / funny unlock-ables: Previous game gave you a few skins to have fun while replaying the campaign, almost all games that came from this company (Naughty Dog) have this feature (Eg: Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, Uncharted 4, The last of us), you could unlock in-game stuff like Models, concept art but nothing you can use in the campaign.

    At least you have new game+ with all your upgrades and weapons.

    No chemistry: Previous game had you sympathize with all its cast (Bill, Tess, Ellie, Marlene), while this game introduces many more characters to the cast you don't feel the same level of attention put into them, at least on the first half of the story, second half introduces a character from a faction known as "Scars" and i liked their part of the overall narrative.

    Definitely a game you should try at least once, but overall i did not like a few design choices, mostly stealth levels and sometimes i felt like the game dragged for too long, the story was interesting but overall it didnt captivated me as much as the previous entry.    … Expand

    First of all I dont think it deserve a 0 to 5 review. I enjoyed the gameplay/combat, and if you enjoyed the first game gameplay then you'll be happy with the slight improvements to this game. The storytelling was just all over the place and so many plot holes, how did they know where joel was or how he looked like? Ok maybe they just got lucky and found him, but still too much to absorb I guess. I found this story to be really depressing and if you had lost a love one or whatever I recommend to wait for a while, because this game really dwells in depression and later PTSD and about dealing with loss and grief. Well to me it does. Yeah I can't deny that I found the story to be a little disappointing on ellie's part and who we have to play through half of the game. Yeah I would give it a 5 in storytelling and about a 7 in gameplay, it's fine and if your curious about playing maybe wait til it goes on sale, but yeah that obviously didn't stop me. Lol… Expand

    I LOVE the stealth oriented gameplay, the areas of gameplay are bigger and more vertical, there are some new fun to use weapons, stealth got better just by being able to crawl, but most of it is pretty much more of the same from the first game, it was just constantly interrupted by cutscenes and the context of the story made me sometimes NOT ENJOY being good at the game. Also too much jump scares, too many times the game forcefully takes all my gear when I just got comfortable with using all of the tools they gave me.

    Narrative script and dramaturgy - 5/10
    The characters from the previous game were absolutely out of their previous characteristics, one of the most belloved characters from previous game was flatout disrespected by the writers from the very start of the game and awkwardly recalled in flashbacks later to what we actually wanted to see after playing the first game, problem is it was out of beat of funcional story of this genre. My personal and professional oppinion is that this event should have taken place roughly half way through the game, not at the beginning.

    Other characters were acting pretty ridiculously knowing who they are what life experiences they all have. The motivation and actions of lots of those characters is just completely crazy and nonsensical. All the constant jumping back and forth between playable characters to explain it, flashbacks and unplayable cutscenes stopped me from getting to know the new characters I was supposed to care for and empathise with them later on in the game. Lots of reasoning the story used either didnt make sense in the reality of that world or was in direct contradiction of what the game tells you couple of scenes earlier.

    Lots of smalltalk between characters during gameplay or exploration was cringeworthy not just for me, but for both of my flatmates watching me play the game. It just came off like a fan fiction based on the world of Last of Us 1 written for a specific niche of the audience of the first game, but without fully respecting the previous game.

    Lingering on super violent scenes and letting characters that already went through a lot of violence and rought life, but also know peaceful life in safe communities, go through all this crazyness without having anything to reflect on it and just keep on being hellbent on more violence is surprising and shocking and I get what kind of experience they try to create for players, but the first game wasnt like that, it used violence differently when it comes to the main plot of the game, it built suspence and brought points and realisations both to the player and the character that were not so shocking, but emotionally way more hard hitting than anything in this game, I just remember feeling shocked by some cheap jumpscares and disgusted by taking some violent scenes a bit too far and completely let down by the ending.

    SO, how would I rate this game overall?
    7.5/10 - for the goold old Last of Us gameplay and the technical quality    … Expand

Как игра, она мне очень понравилась, Очень крутая боёвка, перестрелки, заражённые которых ты реально боишься, классный стелс. Вообщем от игрового процесса я ловил кайф и восхищался. Но срач и не из-за этого. Сюжет мне зашёл и не очень одновременно. Игра показывает правильные мысли на счёт мести, показывает что люди порой хуже гриба. (Дальше спойлеры). Все бомбят на то что убили Джоэля, ну мне тоже не очень это понравилось, но мне кажется что авторы и этого чувства хотели и вызвать у игрока, как и у Элли. Ухх, как же я хотял всех поубивать, играя за Элли, но бомбить на то что эго убили это то самое что бомбить на то что твой отец умер в автокатастрофе например. Да, обидно, но с этим уже ничего не поделаешь. А от что в игру было вплетено ЛГБТ мне это вообще не понравилось. Я полностью понимаю лесбиянство Элли, так как это было показано ещё в первой части, понимаю мужиковатость Эбби, так как она в это суровом мире выживает сильнейший и она тренировалась, что бы отомстить, да и вы видели тот крутой спортзал, я бы сам там занимался каждый день)). НО. Есть мелкие ЛГБТ моменты которые меня бесят иии... Лев. Этот трансгендер. Из-за него весь сюжет получился таким каким он есть иии, я совсем не понимаю мотивацию Лева, а из-за этого перевоплощения пострадали её родственники и он сам и это меня бесит. Вставили лиш бы было, лучше не говорили бы что он трансгендер. Плюс затянутый сюжет немного так что 7 балав из 10… Expand

    I would say its 9/10 as a separate game with different name. But I would say 4/10 as a continuous story of famous first part. Its good quality gameplay, graphic and the story is just miserable. Disappointment for me after so many years of waiting.

I did find that when the game shifts to another character about half way through it took me a couple of hours to get used to the way the narrative had diverted, but I was glad once I had adjusted.     There are some exceptional executions in this. The graphics and animation are first class and set a new benchmark. The gameplay, though same as previous, has some upgrades and is more fluid than before. The environments are very beautiful, though a bit same-same throughout the game.

    Where this one goes off a cliff - and the reason we judge it so harshly - is that the execution of the narrative (rather than the narrative itself) is jarring to the point of offensive when you hold it next to the superbly executed original. Many people are angry at WHAT happens. I'm fine with what happens. It's a bit like the comic of The Walking Dead or the book The Road... its a bad place and can be brutal. How it was put together was like a case of bad directing, to the point that it broke the immersion and made the journey to the end of the game more like a slog, not a desire to see what happens. And the ending, without giving anything away, is just plain bad and has you feeling empty wondering what was this all for - what a waste of time and lives.

    It's worse BECAUSE of the brilliance of the first. Similar to how The Godfather Part 3 was in part judged on how Part 1 & 2 were so fantastic.

    Some rearrangements on the play out of the story, some changes to the way characters seem to forget who they were in the first one, and perhaps even a toning down of the at-times grotesque violence (how showing the slaying of a pregnant woman is required or acceptable really is beyond me), and this would be a worthwhile successor.

    As it stands, it does the franchise a dis-service, and I will only watch for a third installment with half interest... I no longer really care about what happens in TLOU world.    … Expand

I am at a 7 because I find it to have very fun gameplay it improved its game play from the first game in almost every way. When I was playing the game I was wondering how any one could hate this game? But that’s when I got to the part when Joel dies from Abby which made me angry because why would they do that but I got over it and got back into the game and I was in joying myself for about 12 hours when we were at the part I thought was the climax with Abby pointing a gun at Ellie I was very invested when we cut back to Abby as a kid when I was like what the hell. But I kept playing just waiting for the game to take us back to Ellie but it was taking a very long time so I googled how long is the Abby sections to find out it’s about the same length of time as the Ellie portion. That made me want to just stop playing since I did not like the Abby character. Naughty dog wanted you to feel for her.. but I just didn’t. Eventually we get back to the part where Abby is pointing a gun at Ellie when I’m like yes now I get to kill Abby but no we are still playing as Abby trying to kill Ellie. When you leave Ellie coughing up blood on the floor. Now it’s been a bit and you play as ellie again and you have a farm house with there baby living a good life when for some reason ellie feels like she needs to go kill abby so she leaves Dina which at this point in the game you don’t care any more you just want the game to be done but whatever you go to this place where Abby is to kill her but Abby has been put in prison and is very weak so when ellie finds her she lets her down then wants to have a fight when Abby bites her fingers off and Ellie lets Abby go making it all feel pointless. Ellie goes back home to find Dina has left her and the game ends with Ellie loosing every thing leaving you unsatisfied. Anyway the half the story I did not enjoy but the other half was great the graphics are the best voice acting is perfect and I had an ok time playing this game so I give it a 7.… Expand

    This was a huge disservice to all the characters from the first game.

    Still, I actually had many moments where I smiled during all those adorable flashbacks of Ellie and Joel and wished that those moments would have been more abundant throughout the entire game. I had moments where I actually cried, more so than I’d like to admit, because I had to watch one of my favorite characters get beaten & tortured because he and tommy let there guard down at the WORST moment ever. Even though it was gut wrenching, I must admit that I somewhat commend naughty dog for being able to make me feel that kind of emotion. No I don’t agree with it and the way + time it happened and that’s my main gripe.

    The story is what conflicted with me the whole damn game. I actually loved Dina as a character and the relationship her and Ellie have I could relate to because of the there age. Yet, I couldn’t stand as you go deeper into the game as Ellie (day 2 and 3 of Seattle) you watch her become this cold, dark person obsessed with revenge. Naughty dog, I understand you wanted to make this game central around revenge...but for the love of god... the amount of damn characters you killed off due to “revenge” is pathetic and I would have flipped if Abby killed Tommy as well in the theatre. Playing as Abby, honestly, I don’t know how I feel still. I didn’t despise it as much as a lot of other people did. I actually even enjoyed getting to know her crew and see that they are just trying to survive as well. Yet, I always felt this annoying “why can’t I just continue to play as Ellie...you know...the character we all believed was a huge part of the game” and that leads to my final point.

    Screw the living crap out of the marketing. Screw you naughty dog for lying to all of us and to you Sony for allowing them and yourself to do that. Now I did HIGHLY enjoy the combat and all the improvements that were made to it. It felt satisfying, brutal, and rewarding especially when sniping people with your bow. Presentation was amazing. I loved yara and lev and cheered for them to survive as long as possible. Honestly there were points I really loved the story and some of its wholesome moments. It’s just there are holes, glaring holes that smack you in the face and make you ask why.

    Many people may ask why I even gave it a 7 due to the political crap it pushed and to that, I honestly can only say I tried being as open as possible. I also was mixed on the story, even though I mainly listed negatives as I feel they need to be known, so it also had that. This is no where near the original, however, as I played that game for over 100+ hours and never got sick of it. Naughty dog, if you for some reason make a third one, take some advice from us fans that loved the first game and wanted this one to succeed so badly. Don’t load your game with politically motivated crap and maybe, just maybe, don’t kill off one of the best characters a company has ever made. (Yes I know that mean killing of Ellie at that point since they already messed up with Joel and then I’d just be laughing at that point because I’d join in dumping a fat zero on the game).    … Expand

    The graphics are impressive, perhaps even better than we might see with the next generation of games. The gameplay is somewhat more dinamic, with interesting combos and many variations of execution, and the same goes for the locations, giving the player the feeling that the same goal can be achieve in a dozen different ways.

    The story is complicated to judge, precisely because the reason of that which I disliked is not something that can be objectively defended. The plot is complicated at times to understand, as we transition from the protagonists quite a few times, and yet that same concept also contributes for the game to push the player away from that feeling of familiarity players often acquire after ending a game with a sole character.

    The story consists on a mix of what was to be expected from the first game if the worst could happen precisely at the right moment, resulting in the death of one of the franchise's most beloved character. At the same time the road in which the player is led ultimately ends in an extremely unsatisfying manner, as we see our beloved character beaten, cut, bruised, frustrated, filled with grief, struggling with some form of PTSD, and still losing her last trace of a family.

    This ending is particularly unsatisfying considering the silver lining, if there is one, is shockingly nonequivalent to all the bad things the game shows. In the end, the player is taught two things:

    1) The pursuit of revenge might lead you worse than where you were;
    2) Joel would not want her to do it.

    But the issue is that both of those facts are obvious, which contribute deeply to empty the ending of any shock or satisfaction whatsoever.

    And this is a fundamental flaw in the writing, as a mere inversion of scenes would have rendered a completely distinct feeling, something akin to a bitter sweet ending. Instead, Ellie gave up on such a precious life to have, especially in a post apocalyptic world, to seek said peace (when it is really just revenge, as far as the game is able to convey).

    One can argue that the story is not bad solely because the ending is not satisfying, or that the ending is indeed satisfying, but these two points do not seem to hold, as it either dismisses the idea that the ending of a story is not important, which is absurd, or it reveals an odd pleasure to see a character so loved to end so empty and scarred. One can also say that at the least Ellie left this journey more mature, which is a valid point, but one must also ask this: at what cost, and does that mean the story ends well?

    In such a decayed world, the best direction to head would be the opposite, that is, to show that even in darkness there can be light, and even in disadvantage the innocence and purity of a love between father and daughter can triumph, even when he was brutally murdered and she sought, for a while, a path of revenge.

    Unless, that is, the creators decided to make a bold move, which is praiseworthy...as long as it gets the landing right, otherwise it is just a stumble.

    Unfortunately this a complicated review to make, precisely because it became so divisive and problems can be found on both sides of the reviews. If on one hand prejudice and idiotic criticism contributed to such a negative view of those who did not like the game, it seems fans who loved the first game are willing to ignore any shortcomings of this story. But the truth is that, this game is far from perfect, just as much as it is far from ratings so often spotted on this platform (anything bellow a 4 is rather questionable, to say the least).

    Finally, the game has ups and downs, although it personally felt like a disaster. It is not because it is poorly designed, but solely because the story did not do Ellie's character justice exactly at the most important part of the story, which is the ending. And although this might seem like a small detail, it is not, especially in story driven games such as this one.

    I knew about the leaks before I played the first game. I played the first game at least five times before picking the second one, and I can say with moral honesty that I do not know if I will ever play The Last of Us Part II ever again.    … Expand

Enemies/combat outdated, were only a few moments were a boss fight was interesting and tough. I loved how much you can customize the settings though, that really helped some aspects of combat!
    I feel like the criticism of the story shouldnt be something that keeps anyone else from playing the game. Even though I wish the game could have had a faster pace in the beginning, I enjoyed the twists in the plot and the characters and I was surprised in a good way about this.    … Expand

    The Last of Us 2 is no where near a bad game. Its completely understandable to not like this game for the story it decided to tell, but to say that the writing is objectively horrible holds no merit. The pacing of Abby's day 1 was extremely slow and took some of the excitement away from me, but it was soon made up for with the addition of Lev and Yara. I've played through this game twice and I'm personally still on the Abby sucks train, but the game does a good job of using Lev to humanize her. His addition to the story made me see Abby as a extremely flawed human being rather than a comically unforgivable villain. I don't think the story ever necessarily asks you to like Abby. Mel's feelings about Abby is more than enough to show that.

    I think if the game was structured a bit different, playing both Abby's and Ellie's journey through Seattle side by side like they did in the Jackson chapter of the game, would've helped improve the pacing. Instead we get a jarring switch of perspectives in the middle of the climax, taking away from the tension of the moment.

    Although the ending was not what I would have wanted, I'm not disappointed with it. I would've preferred a happy ending, Ellie staying with Dina and JJ on the farm and learning to cope and hopefully find peace within herself. Instead we get a much more depressing ending with Ellie ending up alone. I don't need all my games to have happy endings, but when a game is filled to the brim with heartbreaking and depressing moments, it should end on a happy note to avoid feeling like torture porn.

    Despite the games shortcomings, I enjoyed my time with it and am looking forward to future Naughty Dog releases.    … Expand

I expected more for a late generation game. Particularly one that is a sequel to such an amazing game from an earlier console. The next issue I had was that I went through 3 days as Ellie and then the same 3 days as Abby. I would have appreciated jumping between the two through each day, so when I got to day 3 I was finished. I felt like it broke up the narrative a bit too much. Lastly. I really did hate they killed Joel. I felt like they could have found a better way to do the revenge story. Like have everyone in Jackson get killed except Joel and Ellie. Then Joel and Ellie go on a vindictive journey. It could have brought out all the same points, but Joel wouldn’t be dead. I mainly didn’t like this because Joel made the first game. I didn’t enjoy playing as Ellie in the first game. I didn’t even care much for her character. I cared for her even less in this one. I also really didn’t appreciate playing as Abby. It was ok. Just not the most fun. She did some terrible things and was a terrible person. All I wanted was for her to die in the end. Lastly, the game play wasn’t different enough from the first one to keep me engaged. Now. Admittedly all these issues, except for the first one, are all minor. I just think that with my expectations, and all the minor annoyances I found in the game, that I just struggled to appreciate the game in the same level as some of the critics.     The rest of the game unfortunately falls short. The game is broken down into two activities. You're either walking around looking for scraps or engaged in combat. This loop gets repetitive since the game is quite long. Combat is slow and methodical so it eventually begins to drag till you throw stealth out the window and just start beating everything with a bat. It's also a bit easy. I played on the hard difficulty and found melee to be laughably overpowered.

    I suppose Last of Us is more about experiencing the story, the world, and the characters. Sadly, the story is dull. The characters are extremely unlikable, and nothing really happens. It's just a series of events strung together on the basis of one plot point.

    I played the first game and hold it in high regard. I'll be honest, i got 15 hours in on this one and couldn't handle anymore. I was just so bored I ended up deleting it from my console with no intention of going back    … Expand

I have mixed feelings about this game, the graphics are stunning and the gameplay is great however the story could've been written a lot better than what was put out, literally a slap in the face to the beloved characters of the first game and the fans. However this story had some amazing moments when it came to the Ellie's flashbacks with Joel, and listening to Ellie play the guitar. The game felt very realistic while in combat which was amazing... but the time i spent playing as Abby felt so dragged out i kept taking constant breaks, it seems like the game tries to make us all like Abby but for most of us that was never the case. Also part of this game just felt like nothing but a message, please keep politics out of video games and let people enjoy themselves.… Expand

    Killing of one of the main characters is fine it's been done before. The way it was done almost seemed like it was done to spite fans. Unlike the first game non of the characters stood out. This seemed like a bad Godzilla movie where you go to see the monster fights but end up getting 2 hours of the characters and a half hour of the monsters. What happened to all the infected? Did they just step aside so everyone can get over their it's complicated?

Druckman took a huge swing with this game, and while I admire the tenacity, I really just don't think it worked. Having to play the second half of the game as a character you've been made to hate, while already knowing exactly what happens, I found to be extremely arduous. One can't ignore the masterful graphics, sound design, and even gameplay mechanics, but the story is a huge stinker that almost seems spiteful towards the user. TLOU 1 had a perfect bittersweet ending... But this ending is all bitter with no sweet to the point where the entire journey just feels pointless and hopeless. For the average player, I'd reccomend passing.. Play Uncharted 4 or TLOU 1 instead, because ND just didnt live up to the hype with this one, sadly.… Expand

    Everything about the game other than the story is great. Ellie and Joel have been dumbed down to the point where they feel like complete different people altogether. I do not recommend anyone buy this game for £50 like i did wait for a sale or buy a used copy. this game is not worth full price.

    Well, from a technical point of view, this game Is awesome. Stunning graphics, amazing sound. From a Narrative perspective, wow, this is a strong emotional game but in gameplay, I didn't find anything new. After a few hours playing I was moving forward only because of the story because I found a perfect recipe to finish my enemies.

    Far, far, far too long. It's like they included a DLC that you have to play between the end of the game and the epilogue (which should have been on the idyllic farm - Ellie should never have gone to Santa Barbara).

    There was also no good reason for Ellie to go through all 3 days. She barely escaped with her life from a few scenarios and she could have just turned round and gone home at any time, especially once she found Jesse & discovered Dina was pregnant. Tommy was fine on his own. The stakes were never high enough (unlike the first game where Ellie was going to be the source of a cure). I just spent most of my time thinking what's the point?

    I wouldn't have minded playing as Abby - I think it's a good idea to see both sides of a story - but the whole thing was just dragged out far too much. I was bored of playing as Ellie at the end of day 3 and thought I'd finished the game. Then I had to play as Abby for another 10+ hours (which I also got bored of, literally an hour or so into day 1). Some scenes were also very hard when playing on hard.

    There was absolutely no reason for Ellie to leave the farm and go after Abby again. It was just pointless. It also annoyed me again because I thought I'd finally finished the game and Ellie had found happiness, only to have her inexplicably throw it all away to go back to hunt for Abby, and again, why? She and Joel were survivors... I think she'd have been glad to have been in love and with Dina. She wouldn't have gone.

    In this game I also couldn't help wondering how zombies stay alive. I mean, Ellie goes into a building that's been deserted for 20 years and there are zombies walking around in there? I did think that in the first game but I let it go. In this game though, when she falls through a floor or something and there's a monster waiting for her it was just a farce. But it's a zombie game, so I almost let it go, but couldn't really this time.

    Personajes 1/10: Todo mal acá también! Joel se merecía mas, mucho mas. Ellie baja un par de puntos con respecto a la primera parte, se esfuerzan por hacerla quedar mal y casi lo logran. Abby... solo vas a querer que termine pronto, se esfuerzan por querer justificarla y solo crea mas rechazo al personaje.
    Conclusión: Un juego que tenia el potencial para ser LA joya del ocaso de PS4 y que solo será recordado por sus controversias y dividir a la opinión de los jugadores.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game isn't without its flaws but people are flaming it to hard. Its still a great game and if you enjoyed the 1st one (Which was no doubt better then the part 2) then you would still enjoy this one.
    The good parts of the game is that the combat has been improved and headshots are a 1 shot kill as they weren't before.
    Crafting is slightly better although for some reason Abby (Not Ellie) can't craft arrows. God forgive these devs for making such a dumb decision.
    The story is great and was a good continuation of the previous game. It of course had a high bar to live up to which being honest I don't think it quite made it but I it would have been near impossible to do so.
    The graphics are more than something to brag about. The attention to detail is gotta be the best I've seen in a game before. Even small things for example the shotgun ammo on the stock is what ammo you got left. If you have 2 regular and 2 incendiary on the stock it will have 2 yellow and 2 red. Small things like that really bring the game more to life.
    I loved how we got more groups in this one. The WLF's, the Scars, The Rattlers... They are all different and have different ambitions and survive in different ways. Not necessarily good ways thou. You would be lying if you thought the whistling of the scars wasn't cool asf.

    The downsides were that stealth still kind of sucked. I understood the 1st game slacking a bit because it was originally made on the Ps3. But a late entry to the Ps4 there is no excuse for it being how it was. It was like it hadn't been worked on at all from the previous game. In a game where you can barely carry any ammo and body shots take 5 to kill someone so your only option is stealth to pick a as many if not all your enemies off and it was that basic just disappoints me. I could have 10 dead bodies piled up in 1 place. The enemy would see it, look around for 30 seconds and forget all about it. They should be hunting you down like a pack of wolfs (Pun intended).
    Lack of zombie encounters. This series was made on zombies yet when you see them you kill a 3 or 4 and move on. At 1 point we kill some big ass multi mutation which was awesome but why do we only get that once? I wish we got to fight off huge hordes and stuff.. Why is it always, you go into a building and there is a couple infected to remind you that they exist, you gotta a kill them and after you move on. If there has been an outbreak then I'm shocked because if this is half of the worlds population then you live in some deadass place. The 1st game had loads of zombies and it was awesome. In this one its all about the WLFs and Scars with a hint of zombie. You have given us less of what we love.
    Abby should have been able to craft arrows. She has no way in crafting stealth material. I feel like you wanted to make her less stealthy and more guns blazing but if that was the case why can she carry a small amount of ammo? She should be able to carry 3 if not 4 clips not 1 and a half. (including the 1 in the gun).
    We played to much of abby. Don't get me wrong I loved seeing her side to things and thought it was awesome her she had her own attributed and guns but I feel like I played her more then Ellie if not near half and half. This game is a continuation of the 1st game and Ellie is on the cover so why did I spend near half of the game playing as someone else? Just my point of view others may be different.
    The characters didn't have as much emotion as the 1st one. I am not sure if that's the right way to put it but say for example in the 1st one where Joel starts off not liking Ellie cos of his Daughter and then he ends up liking her and looks at her as his own. Not replacing his daughter but putting the care he had for her into Ellie instead. In part 2 the character were more straight forward. I mite be overlooking something thou.

    I think it would have been cool if we got to know more of the characters better. We don't know a single thing about these people? Like who the hell were they before the infection? Or if they were born after then why don't they talk about various things they enjoy. The conversation is always present based. Just thought I would throw that in there cos I found it kind of strange.

    The summaries the game is still amazing. Not as good as the 1st but damn it would have been hard to live up to such a game. This is has improvements from the 1st but I think some areas weren't improved enough like the stealth mechanics. Which is a huge part of the game. Or why the hell can I find half a container? Surely all containers should come as 1 objects not 4. I hope we do get a part 3 although its hard to say with how this one ended. We could find out if Abby finds the fireflies or if Ellie ends up back at home or does she continue to fight off the infected and found another group to survive alongside? Does her life now consist of saving people from hunters/rattlers? I hope we get to find out!    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
