This is a mediocre master piece, with great game play, amazing level design and stunningly beautiful and well done graphics and sound design, the game is pulled from a 10/10 to a 5 due to a poorly written story with out of character moments, as well as using false marketing to boost sales, an overly long story with no pay off makes this master piece a mediocre waste of time. that is not even taking into account the in-dignifying deaths of some characters and for some reason using a character motive as a plot twist (hello?) The game plays very well it looks great and the story isn’t that outrageous ofcourse joel was gonna die that was obvious from the moment we completed the first game if they ever did a sequel, along with quality of life upgrades the game is greatly enhanced.
Now for the bad part eventhough we can understand abbys anger over her fathers death the game doesn’t give us a real connection to abby until near enough the end of the game really the game wasn’t structured well rather than change characters at the 12 hour mark they should have switched between the 2 characters throughout the game that way it would have flowed better and we wouldn’t feel as angry about being forced to play as abby especially after spending so much time with ellie and upgrading her aswell also there’s no real dialogue between ellie and abby in any of their interactions ellie doesn’t even know abbys reason for killing joel she just assumes it’s in retaliation for the fireflies and not someone as close as her own father i feel if this dialogue was used then ellies decision to let abby live at the end would have had more context and understanding.
If the game had such changes I would bump my rating upto a 9

I was shocked and anxious, I already finished this game and the feeling it leaves me is disappointing, I really do not understand how it was impossible that ellie did not finish what she started and even so she ends up losing absolutely everything ... the only thing I will give thanks for is this phrase from joel to ellie: "if god gave me another chance, I would do it all over again" It was the only thing that apart me from the flashblacks of ellie that I enjoy like never before if you want a story full of nostalgia, unfortunately this is not your game ... The gameplay was pretty much the same as last of us with nothing really fresh and exciting. Then there is the story... playing as a character who kills your favorite character turns the game sour. I found myself hating every moment playing as Ally. Hurting and even killing characters you care about ruins the game. It makes the gameplay terrible. It makes you not want to continue the game. I found myself thinking it would get better but it never did. The game ends and I already feel that I know how the last of us 3 will play out and end. Ally gets to the fireflys and they find out she knows about the immune girl Elle. Now Ally has to travel to find Elle (probably broken and sad) to take her back so a vaccine can be created after her sacrifice. Boom. I just saved you $60 for the trash sequel. Expand

It’s not terrible but it’s no where near as good as the first one. The game situations are very repetitive. The storyline is boring and too LBGT agenda heavy. There are a lot of characters that I didn’t really care about. The graphics and visuals are the best part of the game.

Personally I think it is an actual good game, the graphics and all the gameplay are incredible, sadly the plot wasn't what most people would like, but it is what it is, it doesn't matter if you liked or not the ending, it is a great game.
One of its actual problems is that the game is so long, it could perfectly have been 7 hours shorter and be as good as it is.

I loved last of us 1 and replayed it to death like many other games such as The Witcher 3, and Zero Horizon Dawn to name a few. They ticked all the boxes in terms of delivering a fantastic experience and product. It saddens me to see what has come of Part 2 and thats a problem of it self. If this was a stand alone game it could of atleast been a 'meh' to an 'alright' game but because it had such 'big shoes' and expectations to fill it simply failed.
As i'm writing this im listing up the game for sale. Something i havent done in 15 years and that it self says alot coming from someone who keeps onto games on the off chance of replaying the game, but i know for certainty I wont be playing this one ever again.
As a gamer I seek entertainment and escapism to relax and unwind and pretty much boost my 'happiness meter' but this game left such a bad taste in my mouth and feeling miserable. Especially when you take into consideration that I paid for this and paid full price. Its sorrowful to think of all of the employees time, effort and sweat that went into this (especially remembering that 70% of staff left due to being crunched) for it to be...like this.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is gonna be my honest review about the Last of Us Part 2. I will start by saying I love the first game, it's probably in my top 3 of all time. What made that game so great? The characters and the journey of the story.
So when you already kill the main character of the first game in the first 2h of the game, that's really hard to take in. I just want to be clear on something: I don't have a problem with Joel dying, but I have a problem with how it was executed. It was just so unrealistic and stupid and something Joel & Tommy never would have done. That really put a damper on me liking the game. The problem in itself is that ND lied about the game in the trailers. Nothing was indicating Joel was dying in the first couple of hours and I'm gonna guess 90 % would have wanted a story/journey with Joel and Ellie again. The positive things about this game is of course the graphics, amazing AI and great combat. But what does that do when after 2 hours of the game and u don't feel engaged in the story anymore? So I did play it, but I never really enjoyed it. The fact that you have to play as Joel's killer in half the game also made me seriously consider putting the controller down. This is ND weakest game to date and they have to seriously do something special to hook me the way they have done before as I won't really trust what they will put in the trailers of their next game, whatever that is.

The issues with this game lies in the story. This is spoiler free. I am a big fan of TLOU. This next installment seems to be at war with itself between the story it's trying to tell and the gameplay. A stealth/shooter game is not the best way to tell this story. This story actually works much better as a movie than it does a game. This story is about revenge/trauma/ PTSD/ guilt/ and forgiveness. That's a very hard thing to pull off when you are killing countless enemies for entertainment. What you have is a story not matching the avenue that is being used to tell it. There is also too many cut scenes and flashbacks used. It leaves the gamer holding the remote doing nothing and I always advice against it. The first game added a significant portion of it's narrative to the actual gameplay it made it more entertaining. But sometimes, when you make choices and write yourself in a corner you have to use flashbacks to get yourself out. Flashbacks are a very weak narrative tool and must be used wisely. This game went too hard at this. This is why the story was average at best which hurts a narrative game's replayability to a certain degree. The gameplay is tense, yes there's a form of repetitiveness from it but there's only so much you can do inside the world that was built. It feels tense throughout especially at harder difficulties. Overall, I enjoyed playing this game. This is not 10/10 game of the year material reviewers are saying. It's also not the trash people are claiming it to be because they are mad at the story's direction. It's a solid 7 out of 10 that will inevitably be in the running for game of the year and inevitably lose. From a story standpoint it's weaker than it's predecessor. Most everything else is an improvement. Graphics: 10

The problem is really the story, which is told in such an dumb and manipulative way that it completely fails to make the player feel any sympathy for Abby or any other character in her arc. Remembering this game just makes me sad

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To start on a positive note, The Last Of Us Part II is a technical masterpiece. From Graphics to sound, lighting, level design, music and art direction, every technical aspect of this game is absolutely stunning and the developers at Naughty Dog have once again raised the benchmark for what other developers strive to achieve.

I've sat on my feelings about this game for some time after completing it as I wanted to digest just how conflicted I originally felt once the credits rolled. I admire the bold choices made for the story and liked the fact that it didn't strive to simply replicate beats from the first game, however, I didn't find many moments that were as profound or meaningful to the abundance that the first game achieved. The closest that comes to this, sadly, are the flashback sequences between Joel and Ellie. The one and only moment that really stuck with me was the space module sequence in the museum.

I think I've boiled the issues I had down to two major issues. The direction of its structure/pacing and character development.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dina and Ellie's earlier interaction in the game and there was a certain warmth to her chemistry with Ellie. There are several moments, however, where a new character started to grow on me and was immediately ripped away far too soon. Just as we start to connect with Jesse, he is swiftly taken away without any sense of impact to Ellie or Dina throughout the later game. I understand that it is supposed to reflect the bleakness of that world, but I lacked any lasting emotion because I hadn't spent long enough with him, nor did his death seem to really impact the other characters around him later down the line. I also didn't ever really connect with the extended WLF crew because of the clunky back and forth structure in which it chose to tell its story.

With regards to the structure, I felt as though the game missed a great opportunity to explore Abby's character in a way that would allow us to sympathise with her prior to her act of revenge. I would have liked to have seen her interact with Joel more after having been saved by him, hesitant and conflicted about her quest for revenge. Allow the tension to build as we as the audience learn about her reasons through flashback while simultaneously playing her in the present, wondering whether or not she will make that final decision as she spends more time with Joel and Ellie. I feel this would have been a great first half of the game and then once she finally succumbs to exacting her revenge, then we take over as Ellie and head to Seattle in the second half (accompanied by the same Joel and Ellie flashbacks, but this time towards the end of the story).

I ultimately found the length of the game to be too long for the message it was trying to convey. I'm sure the intention was to make us feel as exhausted and emotionally drained about life in this world, but I didn't need 25 hours to get there. It feels as though the game is aiming for a very niche audience because on one end of the spectrum, you have people who are somewhat close-minded and outright refuse to peel back the curtain of Abby's character.

On the other hand, you have people who are open to Abby's motivations from the very beginning. I myself felt zero hatred towards her actions and only sadness during the entire scene. I immediately thought, 'I'm sure she had her reasons,' given Joel's darker past during the apocalypse. The only issue I could see is that because of the extent of her brutality, she almost becomes irredeemable for the audience from the onset, but it was interesting to observe her cope with the other side of revenge (paralleled with Ellie's story leading up to revenge). What you have left is an audience of people who are open, but somehow aren’t already aware that the world isn't full of heroes and villains, that everyone is in a morally grey area, that revenge is a costly and unrewarding act and that there are two sides to every story. I just don't think it shines as much new light as it thinks it does on these themes. The first game's story was never anything new, but what made it a masterpiece was the relationship and complexity of its characters. I loved Joel not in spite of, but because of his flaws. His decision and motivations felt earned and honest. While the emotional trauma of his death had a significant impact on Ellie, I found her journey for revenge almost too blind to be believable and so rather than flaws, I saw them as a lack of intelligence that was already established in the first game.

Whether I would tread back into it as often as I did the first game, I don't know... Even though it didn't completely stick the landing for me, it did open an interesting discussion amongst fans and I’m glad to have experienced it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Rating this a 1 or a 10 is disingenuous. The truth lies somewhere in between. The gameplay, visuals, and sound are all top notch. TLOU II is not a terrible game, but its story (a huge selling point in Naughty Dog games) is underwhelming and, for many people, upsetting. This huge catch bumps TLOU II down to just average. Pacing issues mean the story drags and leaves the player hanging on for something else of substance to happen. The death of the previous game's primary protagonist so early in the game sours what could be a genuinely interesting narrative twist for a video game. Plot points that should be at the end of the game are at the beginning. The game jumps timelines a lot and introduces many new characters, at a steady clip, which may leave some people trying to untangle who is who. In the end, TLOU II is neither as good or bad as some would have you believe. It rests somewhere in the middle. I'd give it a recommend if you value gameplay over story, but if you value story you're better off waiting for this on sale. Expand

    Story: 0

Overall Experience: 5/10 (because story is 50% contributor to the overall experience)

The story seems like someone had all the pages of the masterfully written story and had accidentally dropped the pages in the wind and never knew how to put them back in order again, as the pages had no numbers. So they made the game story based on the randomly shuffled pages. Firstly, why the hell did they have to kill Joel? I know at the end of the day its “their” character and story, so they can do whatever they like. But, why? How could they possibly think it was a good idea to kill the most lovable character at the beginning of the game in such a brutally unfair manner? Especially right after he saved that stupid girl’s life from imminent death? Thats an intentional trauma the writers exposed all the fans to. At that point, I was so traumatized as though someone had murdered a real person that I knew in front of me. The only reason why I reluctantly continued playing was to make sure that the stupid murderous **** gets ripped to shreds by the time I get to her. It would have at least served justice, even though it would never bring back Joel again.

    How foolish was I...

They actually make you play the character you want to kill in the worse way possible and force feed you sugar and candy, hoping to make you care?????? WTF?! I absolutely hated every second of it. I did not want to play her at all. Isn't making you forcefully play something that makes you unhappy and uncomfortable practically mind rape?

I dont care if she was as innocent as mother tressa... she killed someone I loved. All I care about now is to make sure that she dies in the worst way humanly possible!

But no. They don’t even give you that least amount of satisfaction. They make YOU hurt the last remaining character you care about without any other choices and then expect you to applaud when out beloved character randomly decides to let her live (WITHOUT US HAVING ANY CHOICE IN IT)?!?

What was the point of this?

It might as well have been a film, since the player has no control over any of the main events in the game. It seems that the game played us and we paid for it with our time, money and broken hearts.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

I don’t think it’s as bad as people are saying. I’d personally rate it a 6.7 exactly. I think it does have some flaws in story telling but they do just the same amount of things right as they do wrong. And I don’t think those bad things should ruin the entire game for me, and they didn’t. Fun and immersive gameplay. Stunning environments and graphics.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game looks great and is top notch when it comes to graphics. The mishandling of a character to put the spotlight on a forced agenda character or characters is a travesty and shame that we cant play as the character we really wanted to play with. The story pissed me off of the way a character was handled. The director just wanted a pat on the back from a small percentage of players. I like IGN Japan's review over the butt kissing IGN America review. The game isn't a masterpiece and i have no empathy for ABBY. Wanted to kill her at the beginning and the end. Its worth a rent but not purchase. Expand

It had a good point of view of new characters like Abby, But people don't like her too much and that's a problem. Some characters like Jesse doesn't seem to be important to Ellie, his history isn't too deep. Finally, the end is not good. Ellie seems to be the antagonist, after all she was blinded by her anger and she needed to kill Abby to show us her importance in the history. That was a big change for Ellie. Did i mention about Ellie's fingers during the combat?, If u dont care if the end matters or not, just see Game of Thrones chapter 8

Average... propped up by its predecessor. Gameplay clunky and repetitive. Story had good intentions but was way too long and lost its way about a third of the way through. Such a shame. Worth a play but wouldn't play again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To be honest,
Joel acts so much out of character.
He was always cautious and never trusted anyone new, understandably considering how Sarah died in part 1.
He would never put himself in such a vulnerable state among people he just met.
I understand why he had to go however I feel like it could have been done better without disrespecting the character.
It feels shallow and a cheap way to get people to feel the need for vengeance.

However, if there is justice in vengeance.
Then such justice will only breed more vengeance.
Thus triggering an eternal cycle of hatred.
This is the flaw of every revenge plot.

Ellie takes too long to feel the guilt of her actions to the point where it seems comical.
Right after murdering countless people to get there.
The game betrays the original characters to fit the narrative and introduces new ones that no one cares about.

People played the first game for the relationship between Ellie and Joel and the search for light even in the darkest of worlds.
Ellie and Joel were not heroes or the good guys, they were survivors.
This game betrays all of that for a story of unearned vengeance against characters we don't care about , then the game tries to do a spin on perspective and asks us to buy into their drama.
It's a narrative disaster which could have done way better with some proper order and storyline structure

otherwise, The game is a technical marvel and is gorgeous in every sense of the word.

But the storyline has somehow let me down: from the moment we know that the doctor killed by Joel was Abby's father, I felt that the story was like those series who make new seasons with characters coming out of nowhere to fulfill the need of continuity. The game play, enemies, environment has improved exponentially but it has fails, the game makes you walk more to do time between scene and scene; if you aren't killing anyone or hiding from enemy the game makes you walk more than Death Stranding... and yeah the story... is like a big political banner, Ellie is nothing like the Ellie we meet in the first game and DLC and has no character development... kind of sad what they make to her. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last Of Us: Part II plot is just plain bad. It's flat, like a first draft. It's not bold, it's lazy. The old characters' actions do not hold up to what they did in the first installement (Joel shouts out his name to strangers, Tommy is just a senseless killer and Ellie is a dark, horrible person) and the new characters are just simply boring, unlikeable people the developers try to make us empathize with via really manipulative and lazy strategies. Ellie kills dogs, Abby plays with dogs, Manny's father has Parkinson's disease, etc. Dina and her ex are so boring and flat, you couldn't care less if they were in the game or not. Abby is just a sociopath, who would've killed pregnant Dina if it wasn't for Lev. Owen is a cheating bastard, Mel is a passive aggressive and incredibly irresponsible woman (she goes on missions while pregnant) and Manny is a very bad written latin sterotype. Lev and his sister are Okay, I guess, given the fact that they have background as "scars", and they uphold this aura of mystery. but that's pretty much it. I wanted Abby and her friends to die so bad, I struggled to finish her timeline. Abby's father is a jackass that puts his life and the life of his daughter at risk to save a zebra, like, come on man, you're the town doctor, don't flee like that. Maybe it is on the graphics perspective it's a historic moment, but not at all on storytelling. They CLEARLY wanted us to like Abby, not to hate her, they tried to do it via those lazy and manipulative strategies I mentioned before, it does not make any sense what they are saying about this game being amazing by making you play as **** Abby, forcing you to do it if you want to finish the game. This is a triple A title, they would't risk it like that, it's not and indie game, for God's sake. This is not how you do the "ego death" thing. Like Angry Joe said, you could've played as Abby from the beginning, let us see her trauma, then let her meet Ellie, make them bond, fight together, then they could both find out the truth, maybe Abby knew all along, then Abby Kills Joel and Ellie kills Abbie, but you get that bittersweet drama at the end. But no, it's not like that, it's lazy as **** Naughty Dog didn't play with my soul, they played with my expectations, giving us all false advertising and writing a really bad story for the sequel of one of the best games, if not the best game of all time. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

    - Grande quantidade de NPCs e organizações mal desenvolvidas; Exemplo: Isaac, o líder da WLF, tem uma introdução pesada e depois uma morte banal;
    - Uma tentativa clara de recriar um sentimento de apego entre Abby e Lev nos moldes do primeiro jogo porém feito de uma forma nada realística (o primeiro jogo mostra 1 ano de convivência entre os personagens e não 3 dias...)
    - Diversas mortes “instantâneas” que parecem planejadas com a intenção apenas de causar um choque;
    - Os personagens centrais não dialogam entre si. A série nunca teve discursos longos, mas nem um breve grito de “o Joel matou meu pai!”? As protagonistas se encontram em pontos diversos e nem extravasam toda a carga emocional que se espera que esteja em pauta.

For such a simple message the game is really long. The creators of this game seemed like they really hated Joel. The game goes out of its way to give Joel an extremely brutal death. His actions that led to his death were very out of character for him as well ( giving out his name to armed strangers being the main one).

TL;DR Fun game but feels like a waste of time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What is to be said about this game? The first one was a masterclass of storytelling with gripping and emotional moments. Genuinely likable characters throughout the game and an inseparable, unforgettable bond between Joel and Ellie. Excellent combat and unique enemy types to an already stale genre in 2013 was a welcome addition to a fantastic narrative. The Last Of Us was a rollercoaster of a game that cemented itself in gaming history.

Now, remember my question? The Last Of Us Part II takes everything we loved about the first game and throws it aside for shock value and a shallow revenge plot with no resolution. Joel, a character universally loved by fans, is playable for 5 minutes and killed off within an hour. Nothing about it is compelling. We just get thrown into the shoes of a character we know nothing about on a mission to kill a settler from Jackson. Joel’s death is so rushed that it feels like the creators didn’t care about him in favor of this new group. One the group members even spits on him. A massive middle finger to fans of the first game. The first hour is an indicator of the rest of the game.

You then take control of Ellie, on her way to Seattle to get revenge on Abby, the character who killed Joel. Ellie’s section are so drawn out and boring though. The gameplay of TLOU2 hardly differentiates from its 2013 counterpart, with the exception of a jump button and the ability to to probe. Scavenging the vastly larger areas feels like a task and gets exhausting quick. The gameplay in TLOU1 worked because the narrative was so strong and you wanted to keep going. Here, I just wanted to get it over with so I could move on. That’s never a good sign in a game. Ellie’s segment ends with Abby finding her hideout after she left her map at the scene of Abby’s slain friends. You then take control of Abby, playing through Seattle again from her perspective. This is the problem with the second half of the game. Why would Naughty Dog have us play as Joel’s killer? It’s almost like they want us to like this character after what she did. They try way too hard as well. The problem being, none of her crew is interesting. They even let a pregnant woman go on the frontlines of combat, even though there are more capable characters seen around camp while playing the game. While Abby’s gameplay sections are the highlight of the game, it’s marred by the subpar story and characters. The ending is the biggest slap in the face in recent gaming history. After Ellie gets the upper hand on Abby in a fight, she decides to let her go without any explanation. Why did we just play this entire game? For that? There’s resolution at all and everything we did was for nothing. I’m conclusion, this game is a monumental disappointment. Sure the graphics, attention to detail, and combat are all top notch, but the forced moments, uninteresting characters, subpar story with no resolution, ruining established characters, and tiresome gameplay really hold this back from legendary status. I was honestly happy when the credits started rolling and I have never wanted that from a game before. We should have been playing as Abby in a flashback from the beginning of the game after she saw her father murdered. Take time to get to know her and her regiment for her revenge against Joel. Ellie and Joel should have had more gameplay together up until Ellie learns the truth about the hospital. She runs off and meets Abby, who she saves from an infected attack and joins her on her journey back to Jackson. They form a bond along the way and it’s the duo we play as. Then it’s back in Jackson that she learns about Joel and kills him which drives Ellie over the edge to seek revenge. That’s way more compelling than the story they took 7 years to tell us. I am not looking forward to a third game after this.

The main issue for me is the structure of the story, I liked the different perspectives as you played through both characters, however the game did feel drawn out and you are forced to like Abby when in reality both sides are in the wrong. As someone who is in the LGBT community, I don’t believe the poor reviews are related to that at all or female characters, it is more the story structures and lack of choices you are given. Gameplay and some of the ideas are excellent, graphics and setting are incredibly beautiful in a dystopian way. Just a shame that it feels like the moral of the story overrides what the players wanted which is a satisfying and rewarding game over a “lesson”

The characters are boring and Ellie is nothing like she was in the first game. The constant flashbacks become tiring to the point where you start looking for ways to skip them. And the ending is just so.... nonsensical and unsatisfying.
However, it's stupid to gloss over some of the great parts of this game. The sound, visuals and enemy AI. The combat is good but hasn't changed much since the last game.
I think the reason why so many people hate TLOU2 is because of how invested they were in the original characters. Waiting 6 years to see them killed off and replaced with bland NPCs has got to sting. But I've got to say that I was expecting it.
I had fun playing it. But if you're a big fan of the first, I would probably recommend that you keep clear. You'll finish feeling empty and disappointed.

Finishing the game was so hard because of how pointless it got. Characters that were not interesting had their own 6 hours of gameplay and once the game was over, I couldn’t make myself to replay it again for the trophies. On the other hand, motion capture was on point, voice acting on point, graphics were stunning, but unfortunately they didn’t save the story. I say this with a broken heart, I won’t be looking forward to a 3rd game. Expand

Unfortunately the story was taken in a disappointing direction. The entire second half of the game all I could care about was about the story with Ellie as Abbey’s portion felt like a means to an end. Although it’s okay to take the overall plot in a risk direction, the pacing and organization of the narrative brought a sour taste to an otherwise solid game. Expand

I have given a score out of 7 out of 10 due to certain disappointing content but lets make this clear this isn't a bad game and I would deft say give a play until the end and make your own mind up.

    positive points:
    Stunning Graphics
    Amazing gameplay
    Large open world
    numerous weapon customizations
    Great Melee Fighting
    Long Game

    Negative Points
    Disappointing Story
    Characters not Likeable
Feeling cheated by Naughty Dog & lied too
    Various Game bugs & Glitches.
Not a fun game very dark
    Unnecessary violence

having played around 30 odd hours playing this game I can honestly say I feel cheated by naughty dog , as way back at the announcement of the last of us 2 trailer I recall Neil Druckman saying we care about these characters and we wouldn't do anything to them , hence in the first 2 hours Joel is killed by a very butch looking female by a golf club which was extremely graphic to blood spurting out of Joel's head , which I found was disgusting to kill him off in that way not only did naughty dog piss on the character of Joel but totally miss lead its fans , as I was expecting a better game and continuation from the first last of us , but instead we get a stupid ass revenge plot which a 2 year old could of written. If naughty dog was intending to do this kind of plot and be actually honest with there fans from the beginning , then the fans could of understood better as for mention there's a scene on one of the first trailers where Joel says to Elie do you think I would let you face them alone showing Joel's face to then the actual scene in the game Jessie repeats the exact phrase so again total bull crap from naughty dog as they obviously deleted Joel's face and replaced it with Jessie repeating that phrase.

Real shame naughty dog couldn't of treated Joel in more respect in giving him the death of like Arthur Morgan in red dead redemption at least Rockstar new how to respect there character instead of finding the most distasteful way of killing him. So I didn't enjoy this part and made viewing this very uncomfortable and if that was naughty dogs way of achieving this then well done naughty dog you did it well done three cheers , but for me playing the game I felt cheated and lied too.

Anyway lets give the game some credit the graphics are truly beautiful and all the buildings are detailed and there is many ways to explore each building collecting and scavenging as you go as you will need to be careful with your ammo as the harder you set the gameplay then harder it will be to find bullets and weapon upgrades so big tip conserve your ammo. I also like the melee fighting which feels fluid and with each hit and kill it truly does feel you are doing the damage as Elie is one bad **** with how she dispatches anyone who crosses her path to knife kills in the chest or throat with blood spurting out so again be warned it is very graphic

I did enjoy all the different weapons in the game to the revolver , shotgun , cross bow , to even a sub machine gun at the end so that was fun and you can upgrade each weapon on the weapons' bench spread through out the map. I found the game very detailed to all the level design to all the characters faces so much detail you can tell the designers worked very hard on this.

Lets talk about the levels and Zombies each level is very well designed and you can even see certain city building that the designers copied from specially noted in the Seattle map with lush grasses to all of the desolate buildings which some are very dark where plenty of the undead are waiting to pounce and there are plenty of different nasties to kill from the runners to stalkers infected bloaters shambles to one big ass baddy at towards the end of the game which i wont spoil.

If the story had been better written and the game was a continuation from Joel and Elle fighting the dead this would of definitely been a game of the year but due to naughty dogs bad story writing this completely ruined the game as the story plot didn't make sense was miss jointed from one side story flashback then back to Elle and to abbey i found it hard to keep up with what naughty dog was trying to portray as playing over 15 hrs. with one character I didn't expect and to be honest I didn't really enjoy as I kind of got lost with the actual subplot the ending was very poor and didn't really make sense and is not believable and then having played 30 hours I definitely felt cheated as I didn't achieve anything apart from frustration and annoyance of me wasting all that time playing.

So on my final thoughts would i say buy it well that's a tough one if you didn't play the first game and had no attachment to Joel I would say yes as the game as some nice points but if you are hoping for something like the same as the first game then I would say avoid as you will feel cheated like i di

The last of us 2 unfortunately doesn't have a strong story line when compared to its predecessor. The graphics were amazing (one of the best to date) and gameplay was great although there weren't many new additions to the gameplay. The game is still enjoyable with lots of places to explore and collectibles to find but story is a bit lackluster even though the game is heavily focused on the story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Going into the game I was worried with all of the leaks, hate around the game, and so on. I was quite surprised to realize that my experience while playing the game was generally good. Now, let’s start off with the visuals. Of course the graphics, sound, score, and atmosphere of the game is a 10/10. The sound design is probably one of the best parts about this game. Besides Red Dead Redemption 2, I’ve never been more immersed in a video game. Now for the Gameplay. This is where I begin to have a few problems. The gameplay is good don’t get me wrong but while I was playing as Abby I had many issues breaking windows when an infected was nearby. I’ve heard many people say that the gameplay gets repetitive but in my opinion it doesn’t. I actually had a much better experience playing as Ellie than Joel. Ellie is much more agile and quick than the bulkier but stronger Joel. The animations were brutal and at some points made me cringe. I really loved the new puzzles as well. Instead of just moving a latter or a wooden plank, now the game slightly challenges you when it comes to these puzzles. The accessibility features were also one of the best parts of the game. From being blind to deaf you can play this game. It’s absolutely nuts. I experienced a few bugs but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Now we go onto the most controversial part. The story is pretty good. It has many issues however, and I’ll touch on them later. The story was compelling for maybe about 75% of the game. The first hour or two in Jackson is pretty lighthearted and fun. It’s great to experience the true friendship between Ellie and Dina. One complaint however is that they never act like an intimate couple like how they are said to be throughout the story. They just act like friends that sometimes kiss. Ellie is as interesting as ever while Dina is likable, but boring. She’s literally a brown Ellie. Jesse is also pretty boring but fits right into the story so I have no problem with him. Joel’s death scene was done to near perfection in my book. People criticize the story because “Joel gives away his name and that’s out of character. “ When in reality Joel has been living peacefully in a loving community for nearly 5 years, so of course he’s softened. It makes perfect sense. I feel like people are finding ways to be mad because Joel didn’t die an action hero death. That’s the point. We are supposed to feel like Ellie. Mad. After that however the pacing, one of the biggest problems with the story, takes a massive hit when it puts you in a calm Seattle environment doing puzzles and riding horseback while Ellie jokes around with Dina. It’s a fun time, but it doesn’t complement the tone of the story. Especially considering what just happened minutes ago for the player. Seattle Day 2 and 3 however are extremely dark and fit well with the tone and character’s feelings at the time. At one point in day two Ellie even dismembers one of Abby’s friends to get information out of her, and Ellie seems very traumatized after that experience. Then we arrive to a very poorly done character death. Jesse. He gets quickly shot in the head by the antagonist, Abby. And then, at the climax of the story, it takes us all the way back to the beginning and makes us play Seattle day one, two, and three, but from Abby’s POV. The first day was probably one of the most boring experiences I’ve ever had in any video game because I felt no motivation to play as this character. However, on my second play through I appreciate this chapter more and more. It’s the start to Abby’s redemption. She regrets killing Joel in the way she did, and she knows she’s a bad person. She begins to reconnect with humanity after meeting two children and helps them on their journey to give them a better life. After some amazing set pieces and boss fights, we reconnect to the main story. Now they make you play as Abby to fight Ellie after she finds out that Ellie murdered her friends in vengeance for Joel. I felt extremely conflicted but continued to play. The ending is the best part of the story for me. Ellie goes to Santa Barbara to hunt down Abby one last time. In the final boss fight, Ellie let’s Abby live. Knowing that they both have lost everything, and that it’s too late. Ellie ends the cycle of revenge. The story is about forgiveness. Ellie never got to forgive Joel for what he did, and Ellie sees hope in Abby and Lev. Both women’s lives were consumed by obsession over revenge. And Ellie knows this. However, it’s too late. Ellie’s worst fear has come true. She has lost everyone she’s ever cared about, and so has Tommy due to his obsession. He lost his wife and his brother. These characters are the most human in any video game, acting irrationally and impulsively. While the story has many flaws it is still a brilliant one. Expand

Although technically it is awesome, the story and narrative is really weak and incoherent. The Last of Us was not only good graphics but a good story that did not insult the gamers.

It is quite disappointing that with the talent of people in Naughty Dog this was at the end the result, Druckman as director should think about it and its own role during the development.

The last of us 2 is not what I expected and definitely doesn't fill my cravings for a satisfying sequel to the amazing first game.
The sound design is actually one of the better aspects of this game. The ost is on par with the first game, with the acoustic performances and the slow country style music. The movie thriller style progressing music was also a good addition. The game is pretty long, takes you about 25 hours to complete with moderate roaming around. There is no multiplayer or extra mode but you can redo any encounter without actually playing through the chapter all over again. There is also a new game plus option to play through the story again with the gear you collected on a higher difficulty.
The next best aspect along with sound are the graphics and the overall fidelity. The level designs and structures are all very highly detailed. This is probably the best work naughty dog has put out yet in terms of the technical aspects. The infected design, the NPC design, the foliage, the buildings and the animals in the game all look phenomenal. There is no doubt this is one of the best looking games on the ps4 hands down. My only complaints might be the sometime blurry textures and the always on film grain takes out clarity.
The first half of the game I was actually enjoying playing through this game with it's somewhat of a sandbox style gameplay. But as I progressed further I started to get bored from it and it became very repetitive. Things I liked about the combat was tight encounters in which you had to shuffle around with your gear, the addition of dogs adds a flare of tension but it sucks to kill them poor things, the dodge and jump buttons allow for maneuverability and layers of level design e.g different floors in a building, several skills that can be rewarding for making the game slightly easier, weapons are quite different and each pack a different punch and strategizing to set up traps and take on stealth. The game also features quite more side content and exploration options to find upgrades, supplies and collectable items to add a much needed open feel to a game like this. The A.I is not bad but it certainly isn't great, the enemies do react to their surroundings by calling out names of their fallen comrades but still they go and do the same mistakes that got them killed in the first place. The game isn't very challenging as well as you have so much at your disposal with plenty of ammo and you always have supplies to craft med kits. The hand to hand fights in this game are a joke as it's just you doing the same exact pattern like a kindergarten child over and over again until the enemy dies. There are some memorable set pieces with vehicles and the infected which might be worth playing again. Overall the gameplay is improved but isn't very strong compared to other games out now and gets very boring, tedious and repetitive.
The story is all over the place, the game tries very hard for you to feel bad about some characters and fails miserably. This game also made me feel a lot of times why the hell am I even doing this and what's the point of this, especially at the ending. The new characters are boring, dull, generic and cringeworthy that you never care about them ever. The game also forces you to play through the main villain of the game for so long. The decisions they took are very controversial and may be good plot points but the way things are paced and handled they mess up big time. The game could get a lot better if they shuffled some things out and ran it differently. The thing I hate the most is the fact that the game forces unlikable characters down your throat and drags to long to make sure you swallow it like a good boy. The story goes out so long and a point comes when you are like just end this BS already I have better things to do I don't care who dies or what happens. At the ending you are left with hating yourself for wasting so much time for a turning event but all you get is some foreshadowed BS. There is one scene …. A sex scene that made my eyes pop out and leave the country because they were mad what I just saw through them. The main protagonist Abby looks like a total steroid she hulk Godzilla of a woman and her body is no doubt made like a man with a woman's face and voice to it. There are death scenes which are rushed and some of them have zero weight to them like WTF the original game had so much emotional impact from them.
The Last of us 2 is the most disappointing game I ever played in my life. The original was one of my top 10 favourite games of all time and it absolutely demolished my heart to see how it treats its fans. This is a game that gets progressively boring and repetitive as you play and the story is an absolute dumpster fire. It looks pretty, the sound design is great and some set pieces are good but overall is not a very great and fulfilling package. It is probably the worst game Naughty dog and Niel Druckman has ever put out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I only review after I finished the game. Spoilers!

    PRO:
Graphic and physics in this game is amazing for PS4. The environment are good and sometimes better than RDR2.
Gameplay are better than last game. The stealth element, firearm, crafting etc...
Every cutscene is like watching high budget movie.
    Voice acting is top notch.

    CON:
    Random repetitive flashback over flashback.
    Storyline is a mess.
The new character Abby was poorly introduced. Yet you play her 50% of the game. That's like playing Star War game expecting to play Darth Vader or Luke but you ended up playing Jar Jar Binks for half of the game and expect you to empathize the character.
It destroy the whole dynamic why I love the first game.

    OTHER:
We also introduce great supporting characters like Jesse and Manny. You eventually get to know them but ended killing them off like nothing.
Lev is basically Mulan in a post apocalyptic world.

    Ending:
A lot of people are not satisfied with the ending that's because after going through everything it made the ending all for nothing. It felt like ending of Mass Effect 3. All that work meant nothing.

    CONCLUSION:
It's not a bad game. It's an okay game. Not worth the full price, but only because I wanted a sequel from the last game. Naughty Dog tried to gamble and it didn't work out.

I finally finished The Last Of Us Part II.

Graphical it is a marvel/masterpiece to look at everything within the game. The detail and the enivornments look amazing.

The gameplay is really good and if it ain't broke don't fix it motto that I learned from a long time ago. It follows the same as The first game and does a couple of new things that is good too. Although you do the same things a lot and does get tired for a bit but didn't bother me too much.

Now onto the story/characters. I have to say the story in this one is not as outstanding as the first one. I can see what they were trying to do with Ellie and new character Abby. I can understand the message they were trying to do as it is about Revenge as the main theme but I felt it focused on it too much and it did get a little sloppy in writing structure.

It didn't have a glimmer of light too much unless it is the flashbacks which they were good to look at.

I dont mind a dark story and knew I was going to expect that when playing The Last Of Us Part II but too much. Also I felt it did drag a little bit and tried to do too much. If it had tightened up bits in the middle then I would have said it is brilliant. Some scenes I felt were in the wrong spots needed some moving.

I didn't like killing the dogs and why was that in there. It puzzled me they were meant to be bad but still didn't like it.

I do love Ellie and Dina's relationship in the story and I did like Abby with Vara and Lev as they produced some nice character moments. I do like they showed that everyone has shades of grey which I feel a lot of people didn't get at all but needed some better writing.

Now the ending I wasn't pissed off about I understood why they did it but again I think the writing again was a little off and make people go what the.....

It is a good game and worth checking it out. I wouldn't be replaying it over and over again like The Last Of Us but worth giving a try.

I would give it a 7/10 for the look of the game and the gameplay being excellent. The story lets it down as it was a bit long and played out but understood why they did.

I don't mind if The Last Of Us Part III doesn't happen

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ever since The Last Of Us released seven years ago, fans have been waiting eagerly for a continuation to Joel and Ellie's story. Now that the sequel has finally been released and I have consumed all the content I can from the game, I can now say that The Last Of Us Part 2 not what many expected.

There is a lot of good and bad in this game. Like usual, Naughty Dog has given us a game that is visually amazing to look at. The set pieces (especially in Seattle Day 1) look amazing and really immerse you into the game's world. Gustavo Santaolalla did as brilliantly on the soundtrack for this game as he did the last. The soundtrack is something I could listen to all day. Gameplay-wise, it's very similar to the first. There are some improvements but definitely not outstanding ones. The gameplay is good nonetheless.

Now the story, oh boy the story. It saddens me what an udder disappointment the story was. If you were a huge fan of the first game like me, you will certainly not like way this game's story goes. Killing off a main character in any media only works when it's done well. We learn in the first game that Joel doesn't trust many people. He understands how people work in this new world any does anything to survive. He would not just walk into a building with random survivors he just met and tell them his name. Joel dies in the most disrespectful way possible most likely because of laziness from the writers. I do not have a problem with Joel dying, it is simply the way he died that annoys me and many others. Abby is a whole other story. The second half of the game shoves the idea of Abby actually having reasons to kill Joel down your throat. I liked her relationship with Lev and Yara and I liked weirdly liked parts of her story. The problem is, it goes on for too long that I started to get bored.

I could go on and on about the problems with Abby's story but I just don't want to. I wish this game was restructured so that maybe I would enjoy it more.

The Last Of Us Part 2 is a game that looks visually stunning with a beautiful soundtrack right beside it and gameplay that kept me excited, but it's unfortunately brought down by the lacklustre story that feels like to it goes on for too long.

    Verdict - 6/10

Abby is a very shallow character, the game really tried hard to make her look charismatic. All effort they put on Joel and Ellie to show how human they are, they just ignored it to build her. She's a very good person, heroic, strong, helping strangers that she never saw before and have no bound with. Her father is an angel, she takes care of her friends. Looks like a Resident Evil character. She has no depth, no survivor behavior. She's a disaster for this game. At the end she almost got crucified hahahaha And then you are obliged to play with her 50% of the game because they really thought that you would love and understand her.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I tried to write this with minimal spoilers but there is some major ones towards the end regarding Ellie. So don’t read if you plan on playing, which you should it is a great game to play but the story to me fell short. This game was a personal let down, in regards to the narrative and characters. To clarify when I say characters, I mean how their stories are told and how they are presented, not their gender, build/body type, or their sexuality. The writing was ambitious and well done for what they were going for but it missed the mark. Firstly, Joel’s death was mishandled, I got no problem that he died but I do with the way it happened. To have no build up or suspense it lacked the punch it should have had and the whole situation was unbelievable. Two guys that have lived in this world for so long to have them (Tommy) open up and reveal their town and who they are to strangers that are equipped like a Marine raider detachment is bonkers. Joel was spit on this whole game which I would have been fine with if it was done better and in a more believable way. Then Abby... oh Abby, she is in fact “a piece of **** in regards to her writing. To have this plain revenge is bad story, but then to have a main protagonist, THE main protagonist feel no remorse for torturing and murdering doesn’t make sense. It would’ve been fine if she was just a plain antagonist but to have her kill a beloved character but then forced to feel sympathetic for is bs. I get it, their is no good or bad just people trying to survive and Joel was not a saint and to her he deserved it but they made us feel for him in the first game and we grew attached to him regardless of his choices which can’t be said for Abby. Throughout the game when it was made clear that you are made to feel for her and the writers shoving it in you’re face that they want you to love her, it ended up making her less likable due to the almost manipulative writing. Last for story/characters is Ellie who took a backseat in a narrative that is supposed to be about her. The cure and the virus is not even a minor plot point in this game, besides Ellie being immune. A seven year wait all to have this whole story arc get abandoned and traded with a generic revenge plot with a unsatisfying ending and focusing on new characters instead of Ellie is disappointing. The ending was a kick in the no-no square for us and Ellie. She throws her relationships in the bin, all for revenge but at the climax when she can finally achieve her goal she backs out and leaves us wondering what the hell was the point? Even though I dislike where they went with it is still well written for what they were going for and if you did like the story, awesome I’m glad you did it’s still a good game but for a narrative driven game it fell short for me. In regards to actual gameplay/graphics it is a blast to play and the best looking game on the PS4 especially on a 4K TV with HDR. If you loved the first one’s gameplay you will still love this one. Although it does lack innovation and any new major gameplay mechanics. The graphics is another story, the attention to detail is amazing, from the snow flakes to foot prints in the mud and snow the game is breathtaking and the graphics design and art team are among the best in the industry. Overall the game is good, it plays and looks like a next gen-title however for a narrative and character driven game this is were the game falls short. Even though the story was disappointing for me, like I said above, I still highly recommend playing. In regards to the threats and uncalled for comments towards voice actors and staff that made this game, in my opinion they are some of the best in the industry and none of them, no one for that matter deserve death threats for working out on a fictional story. If someone like Laura Bailey and the writers can make you feel that upset about a character that means they’re doing a damn good job. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is good, but not what I expected. gameplay, graphics, combat, accessibility was perfect. Story and pasting wasn’t. I think playing as Abby is irrelevant, for me she wasn’t a well written character, her implementation in the game feels forced and fake, and I just feel that the gameplay throughout her part wasn’t a “the last of us” style for me it felt more like uncharted (more in the seraphite island). And I just kept wanting to go back to Ellie. And in general this game doesn’t feel like a The last of us. I’m ok with Joel’s death, but I really think Ellie should’ve avenge him at the end. Or they could’ve found some other way to justify her forgiving Abby at the end, maybe Lev saying “please stop” reminding Ellie what she went through. Idk I just keep thinking of a lot of ways they could’ve done the story better, but well, I think that’s a good thing because it keeps me thinking of it’s story. I understand what they were trying to do, but I couldn’t buy it at all even though I tried. It’s a good game but no 10/10. And no better than the first one. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. tlou2 is clearly a visually stunning game with excellent world design. gameplay is what i expected from naughty dog (uncharted 3: undead nightmare). it feels more like an interactive movie than a video game, but tlou1 was already like this - just less lol

it's obvious the reviews are being bombed by people who can't see past their emotional attachment to joel's character and have determined that killing an important character equates to bad writing. in my opinion, joel's story had been completed in tlou1, and it felt natural to have his death play a role in the second game (this is an opinion i held months before this game came out. seriously, it's a trope - if you weren't expecting his death then you're just blatantly ignorant to, like, all literature ever. mentors and parental figures die). also, it's not like he's not in the video game. you get to interact with him plenty during the flashbacks.

p.s. we've already known for years that ellie is gay get over it, and if you're mad that abby is beefy it's just because she could beat you up and you're insecure

i'm disappointed with the ending, i feel that it was cut pretty short, but i guess that just means we all get to wait another few years to see what happens next since it's obviously not over. it also doesn't really feel like ellie learned anything. yea, she lets abby go but we're not really given a reason why she would after everything she went through and everyone that suffered because of her pointless revenge mission. i mean what's even the point of having the scene of tommy begging her to finish it if she's just gonna flake again? we get that little flash of joel playing guitar on the porch but if that's supposed to be her thinking that joel wouldn't want this or something, she's wrong joel totally would've wanted her to bash abby's skull in. he'd probably kill lev too

i genuinely enjoyed abby's story more than ellie's story. it was awesome to come out of this empathizing with abby and seeing what a survivor she is. plus after having to fight ellie so many times i've got a bit of a grudge over how dirty she fights. i mean seriously, who uses a knife on an emaciated woman you just cut off of what was essentially a crucifix in your epic fight to the death??

i think it was a really good, fresh change to have abby - who we are supposed to identify as the main villain, become a playable character. abby's reason for going after joel is just as valid as ellie's reason to go after her. we get to see that the villain has just as many loved ones and things to live for as our protagonist. we get to see our protagonist cast in a different light, showing her as a ruthless and constant threat - seriously, abby let ellie go and ellie slaughtered most of abby's friends in cold-blood.

i'm a big fan of the rat king, it was cool to go to a ground zero. shamblers are eh. was hoping for more developments in the infection or at least more information regarding the infected. combat with infected felt way easier than the last game, and the combat with other people was just the same boring gunfight/sneaking session over and over again.

and if there are any angry gamers reading this, prepare yourself for the next game because i'm pretty sure ellie's gonna die in that one. you can't just rate a video game 0 because you're mad at it

Not a 1 out of 10 but not good either. As a matter of fact I'd say it's perfectly balanced on both sides. From a technical standpoint this game is an achievement across the board. Unfortunately I can not sing the same praises to the story. Simply put, it just didn't work for me. in a vacuum the story and themes are competent but as a long awaited sequel to one of the greatest games ever made (in my humble opinion) this is easily the single most disappointing game i've ever played. Even without the context of the original, the game's over reliance on flashbacks destroys the pacing with brief 30 minute interruptions at best and at worst, forcing the player to trek through 10 hours of gameplay before resolving a cliffhanger. Naughty Dog took a risk with this game which I respect but don't necessarily agree with. In all, while the game is undeniably a technical masterpiece, the story just feels inconsistent with the characters and themes of the first. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all - I'm a Last of Us watcher - means I don't own a PlayStation and watched part 1 & 2 like a movie. Last of Us was excellent at its time. Last of Us Part 2 was a disappointment. Joe getting killed off in chapter 1 even after saving abbys life is just stupid. The game was watchable till the fight between Elli + Abby. The 2nd half of the game I didn't even care to watch and so I skipped through it within 2-3 minutes. Abby is the "enemy" uninteresting 'ugly' character. I don't envy any PlayStation player who had to play through 2nd half of the game. 5/10 as the first half of the game was watchable even there were flaws included like that everything happens in one place/town. Fair enough. Expand

This game may have a powerful story as the critics say, but it is with a dark story and is not what was expected after all waiting for 7 years. They could have atleast upped their execution.

The Gameplay, Sounds, Design all were top notch. Those were the work of the crunched developers rolling through the countless overtime hours they worked for. I could point out the small details that made the Gameplay much more realistic. Looking forward to unique games like the tlou in the future. Gameplay - 10/10

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
