Nothing about her is appealing, Her costume looks like a Super markets employees uniform and her powers are just just stupid, giant growing cartoon limbs?? Like she was manufactured at ACME. Her character is just her gushing over the Avengers and being annoying, didnt care for her at all and she is the biggest part of the game. Expand

Marvels Avengers is a mess of a game. On one side we got a great story with great characters, on the other we have boring and repetitive gameplay. The rpg mechanics of this game doesnt work. They could have done so much with the Avengers IP but instead they did this buggy, incoherent mess.

Matchmaking is a joke. I sit in lobby for 2 hours to find someone to play with in multiplayer and by the off chance I find someone to play with, they are stationary at the starting point of the game. Even finding someone to play with is a chore , not to mention filling up your whole team (4 players). Combat seems weak and ineffective based on “power rolls”. Think of playing Anthem or Destiny with no one to play with. The combat feels like everything is based on “Power Rolls”. You have 5 power? Enemy destroys you at power 6. This game is unbalanced, nothing like the trailers, you do not feel like a super hero. You feel like a noob for even thinking of purchasing this cash grab of a game. What a waste of an avengers game. Yea you can fly around as iron man, that’s it. Can’t complete the campaign with friends, can’t even find people in matchmaking to play the co-op with, which is 20 missions of the same thing. Ridiculous. What a waste of money. Worst game I’ve ever bought. Not even close to what the trailers show you. The trailer is literally the first level of campaign mode. Where you play all the characters by yourself. No crazy set pieces in multiplayer, just mundane fetch quests with enemies that are way to hard to beat for a superhero. This game had promise. It was meant to be fun. I honestly have no fun in sitting in a lobby waiting for other players to join then doing fetch quests leveling up my gear for the next fetch quest. Whoever made this game are complete idiots. This is the worst game I’ve ever played on a technical level, and I’ve probably played all AAA games ever made. Trust me this is not the Avengers game that you want. Graphics are outdated too. What a wasted of a brand. Go F**k yourself Marvels The Avengers. I hope you don’t steal. I hope you don’t steal money from anyone else. If you like this game you are a pleeb with no motivation or a brain. You can go f**k yourself too. You don’t belong in gaming. Just because it has an avengers “Skin” means nothing when the game is a wreck of bs fetch quests and no matchmaking capabilities . Garbage. 0/10

I've only got about 6 hours into the main story and I would feel comfortable saying that the game is Good (better than OK but not Great). There are a lot of justifiable comparisons to Anthem at release but all in all this is a much netter product. The story and character models are excellent, but combat feels very hit or miss in terms of its fluidity in a given mission.

Okay, it doesn't compare to Batman Arkhan and Maver Spider-Man, but it's not a bad game. His campaign is short, there are missions that are very repetitive, but there are legal missions and the story is good. It's not a big game, but it's entertaining.

Marvel's Avengers game is not bad, but neither excellent. The campaign over all is pretty good, and the story is well developed and en-thrilling. The creators really put a lot of effort in making the gameplay mechanics feel real and powerful, and the connexion developed between Kamala, the player and all the Avengers is pretty well made and emotionally involving. The creators really put a lot of effort in making the gameplay mechanics feel real and powerful, and the connexion developed between Kamala, the player and all the Avengers is pretty well made and emotionally involving. But at 2020, with predecessors such as the Batman Arkham trilogy, or Marvel's Spider-Man it's unacceptable to have a game with so much lags, so many inconsistencies at the time of exploring and such a repetitive mechanic when exploring the world trough the side missions. Batman showed how to make collectibles fun to collect with little puzzles, and it seems that Square Enix tried so hard to nail a new collectible system, that ended up being boring and repetitive.

The world exploration is also an issue. There's just so much limitations to how to do things, how to access areas and how to interact with the world, in Marvel's Avengers the world is not alive with you. The world is static and does not interact with the player in ways that make me feel that my actions have any impact. These kind of level design was ok at first, but comes in the end as an over all boring experience. Rather than leveling up different characters and feeling that the world reacts to me and compelling me to further play and develop the rest of the Avengers, I rather get my hands on another game that really reacts to my character and its growth.

I am a fan of superheroes and its games. I believe anyone who enjoys a good story and the feeling of power in a combat system is going to really enjoy this game, but I cannot stop from wondering how much better it could have been if further development on the world was made. If every character had diversity in its characteristics that allowed me to plan my actions in a stealth approach vs a head to head combat, and that made me feel unlimited in my interactions with the world and with my team. It wasn't. bad first effort, it was just a disappointing one when compared to what the superheroes gaming industry is doing nowadays.

So, played a little more, and it's still so terribly clunky. and if you put a foot (or hand) wrong you have a longer than reasonable loading screen before you can get back into it. This kills any flow you might have and really it just feels like a poorly polished knockoff of so many other games. The camera and movement is still skittish and laggy. It just doesn't feel great. The environment design is nice, but that's about it. Deleted it in the end. Rare that i don't at least get through a campaign, but i think i was spoiled by Tsushima and The Last of us 2 , which are infinitely more polished.

The microtranctions are running me the wrong too, here's somethings:

    1. Somethings are just too expensive, some of the skins translate to $10 and I am not one to automatically dismiss cause of microtranctions but this was too much, thankfully, it does now shove the microtranctions in your face, but it is scummy

    2. Takedowns being cosmetic? Seriously?

I have a feeling that a lot of the negative reviews are coming from diehard MCU fan boys, and that's fine if they don't like it, but to smear the game as awful is a bit misleading. I can tell from other reviews that some people are mainly just pissed because you start out playing as Ms. Marvel (a female, muslim character). Those reviews kind of speak for themselves... If you're a fan of Marvel and the Avengers, chances are that you will enjoy this game.

The premise is a mixture between Destiny and beat-em-up games like Ultimate Alliance. You start out as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. A series of events have left the Avengers broken and disbanded. Your goal is simple - get the band back together and save the world. The reviews saying you are forced to play as Ms. Marvel the whole game are flat out wrong. You start with Ms. Marvel and can quickly use other characters as you progress through the story and unlock them. You can use other characters and level them up for pretty much most missions unless it's a specific character mission, but there aren't many of those.

I've played a lot since it came out and still I'm only 58% complete with the story. Afterwards, you can play through various multiplayer "strike missions" similar to Destiny and upgrade your gear more and more in order to tackle harder content. Since the game is a live-service, more and more content will be released in the future. There are some bugs and gameplay hiccups that i assume will be patched out soon but i haven't encountered anything that would be gamebreaking thus far.

All things considered, this is a good game. Graphics are good, the combat is fun, plenty of launch content and more will be released, new heroes are coming soon, and you can kick back with some friends to beat up bad guys as an Avenger. If you enjoy the gear grind of Destiny, enjoy getting loot, or just want some Marvel hero action you can jump in and out of then you should give this a shot.

    - The main story is REALLY enjoyable and takes you on a great journey. Kamala Kahn is cool, and voice acting spot on!

    - Graphics are lovely, and look forward to seeing rendering on nextgen / PC (once bugs are fixed)

    - All heroes feel very unique. Which lends to replayability.

    - The different hero skins, cosmetics and take-downs help give you a range of ways to customise your heros. Frustrating: - Loading times - Running around the hub/hellicarrier, slowly chasing vendors
    - Inability to view friends' inventories - UI / Gear screen moves very slowly - Lack of enemy variety (you mosly fight robots)
    - Limited bosses - Fighting lots of enemies often turns into a big mosh-pit, which makes creative fighting hard to pull off
    - Level design and game modes are limited and feel very repetitive after a while Future concerns:
That the memorable thing about an Avengers game—the thing that keeps peopel playing—is loot boxes/grinding, is a crying shame. Marvel has such amazing stories, the mythos the lore is filled with great stpries. But post-campaign the story is lost to the loot grind! I worry that Crystal Dynamics, have missed a MASSIVE opportunity to be remembered for years to come, as the game that brought the comics to life.

The multiplayer is decent but will hopefully improve. There is promise in future favorites such as Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and Spider-Man. Also the work done with Kamala Khan comes across excellently as you experience the highs and lows of what she goes through in the story. And I believe one of the best things I can say about this game is the campaign is engaging. The combat is best em' up with cinematic platforming. Throw in some RPG elements and customization and you have a decent game. But it's a good game likely due to the promise of more to come , but for how it is right now it's great.

It's not the most epic story of all time, but it's super fun. I think they did a great job of the characterisations of everyone and didn't copy paste from the MCU. The combat is fun, some characters way more than others. My only gripe is that the tutorial comes wah too late in the game.

Still, Avengers is mostly a joy for any true Marvel fan, with a terrific campaign and potentially exciting online aspects - although tbh I was only able to play with another person once in my week of having the game in hand. With regard to the haters, I truly went into this game with neutral expectations, and honestly the hate this game is generating is entirely unfounded. Like, for real - Avengers is a feast for the eyes and a big challenge for even the most diehard gamer. Yes, it gets repetitive. So does Destiny. Yes, it is quite hard at times. So is Dark Souls. Yes, it is not for gaming novices who are only able to master a single character at a time - if you don’t know your controller like the back of your hand, Avengers will make you want to put a hole through your TV. It is often very DIFFICULT. But when you find yourself looking at the too-long load screen too often, it’s simply a matter of having to change your strategy rather than cause for crying the game is broken. Occasional bugs are no big deal (I guess I’m not that nitpicky) with a game this size (there is A LOT to do), and nothing that made it unplayable or that can’t be fixed with a patch. If you love breathtaking graphics and stellar, lightning fast combat - Avengers is a solid addition to your catalog. Not mad about it. Expand

The Good: The graphics are gorgeous. The combat is fun enough to keep me engaged and each character feels unique and fun to play. It's fun to smash things as the Hulk, fly around and blast things as Iron Man and beat people up with stretchy arms and legs as Ms. Marvel. There are plenty of missions and quests to take part in, so lack of content doesn't seem to be a problem thus far. Also,The Good: The graphics are gorgeous. There are plenty of missions and quests to take part in, so lack of content doesn't seem to be a problem thus far. Also, despite what you may have heard monetization isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be... provided you have some patience. has a battle pass system (called Challenge Cards). Each of the 6... let's call them OG Avengers has a free battle pass that will award you with credits. These credits can be used to purchase premium battle passes that (If I'm understanding correctly) will come with whatever new characters will come at a later date. So, in theory, if you have the patience to grind out the battle passes you never have to spend any money if you don't want to. Also, unlike some other games with battle passes these never expire or rotate so you can take as long as you want to complete them. Would I rather have no battle passes and just get all of the cosmetics for free right out of the gate? Yes. Is this system as bad as most Youtubers are making it out to be? No.

The Bad: Spider-Man is a Playstation exclusive. I don't think I need to explain why that's bad. Kamala Khan is just flat out annoying. As much as I love her powers and kit, I just can't stand her personality. I wish Crystal Dynamic had chosen any other character to be the main character of this game. If they wanted a young, new superhero why not use Miles Morales? Yeah, he's Spider-Man but he's not Peter Parker, so I doubt Sony could complain too much about his inclusion in non-Playstation versions of the game. Though to be fair, Sony doesn't have the rights to video game or comic book versions of Spider-Man.(Look it up if you don't believe me.) While the graphics and character models are good, it's clear that Crystal Dynamic/Square Enix is trying so hard to make these character models look like the MCU actors and actresses without actual having to use their likenesses. Which leads to this weird disconnect where you know Banner is supposed to be Mark Ruffalo but isn't. Cap is supposed to be Chris Evans but isn't, etc. Also, while I enjoy the combat, the timing for perfect dodges and parries seem to be a little iffy. Sometimes I can dodge and parry with easy, other times it feels like I'm getting hit even though I pressed the dodge or parry button. This is especially noticeable on Hulk. I don't know if each character has their own unique dodge/parry timer but it feels like Hulk is the hardest one to get right. Speaking of Hulk he feels very weak at least at low levels. He just doesn't seem to do much damage nor can he tank a bunch of hits. Despite the fact that I defended the battle pass system as being relatively fair, the prices of individual cosmetic items in the in game shop are ridiculous and should be lowered in my opinion.

The Ugly: Did I mention that Spider-man is a Playstation exclusive? The performance and optimization of this game is just atrocious. Here are my specs:
    R9-3900X
    RTX 2070 Super
    16GB 3600mHz
With these specs I have to turn down the settings to Low to get a stable framerate at 1440p. Anything above low will result in regular drops in framerate down to single digit numbers for prolonged periods of time. The framerate at low is so unstable one minute I'll be getting over 100 fps and then it'll drop below 50 fps the next. So far in the day that I've been playing this game I've had 2 crashes. One crash direct to desktop and one that froze the game so hard that I had to force close the game. I've read reports on the discussion page of people losing progress because of corrupted save files. That's right an always online live service game has local save files. So expect cheaters to find away to manipulate game files sooner rather than later. Apparently, Steam Cloud saves were added today (September 4, 2020) right be launch, so disregard everything I said about local files. Also, there seems to be a memory leak that will cause framerates to drop to unplayable levels after a few hours regardless of graphics settings requiring a restart of the game to fix.

Final Verdict: I am enjoying this game and at it's core this game is fun. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend this game until:
    1) Spider-Man is in the PC version.
    2) The many technical issues this game has are fixed.
Until then do not buy this game.

If I were to write a short summary, it would be: "Anthem, but with a better single player story."

The single player story is decent enough. Typical superhero fare, better than amateur fanfiction, passable as a story in its own right. Had the rest of the game been this way, it probably would have been much better. Instead, this game is like Jekyll and Hyde (or Banner and Hulk): Two disparate experiences that only have strands of similarities.

Once you get through the relatively short campaign, you hit the live service grind and, well, that's where all the Anthem comparisons begin. Sluggish, buggy combat. Boring, generic locales. Uninspired gameplay loop and reward designs. Braindead, predictable AI, both enemy and ally. Buggy textures and models. Broken matchmaking and multiplayer. Framerate drops. Shoddy camera. SYSTEM CRASHES.

The game tries too hard to be a live service game, throwing everything and the kitchen sink at you -- but they forgot to include rewarding gameplay. All of these games are repetitive by their very nature but the best live service and looter style games find ways to make these loops enjoyable and something you WANT to come back to. With Avengers (much like Anthem), the combat and loot loops are so mundane, so boring, and so buggy that you'll become numb to them within a matter of hours. Not days or weeks or months -- hours. And that's where the real disappointment begins to set in.

I can't help but wonder how much better this could have been if Crystal Dynamics had been allowed to make this game in the same style as their Tomb Raider series instead of having to push the "live service" model. Just as I often wonder what could have been with Anthem had BioWare been able to just make it a standard BioWare RPG rather than EA's attempt at a Destiny clone. And that's the final, possibly most damning, comparison: Avengers is CD's 'Anthem' in that their publisher wanted a game to try and suck up those live service dollars going to Destiny and Division and others, so the publisher pushed their dev studio into a game genre they have little to no experience in. The end result shows. This is no longer 2014 and 2015 when we were at the start of a new console generation, looter shooters were still new (-ish, Borderlands notwithstanding) and people were willing to give games like Destiny and Division time to right their wrongs and mature. No one waited for Anthem to mature, and no one is going to wait for Avengers to mature -- especially not with the new generation of consoles right around the corner and new experiences to be had.

I give the game a 4 solely for the story mode. It's not worth anything higher than that. If you want to play the story, give it a month and it'll be on sale. Give it two to three months and, like Anthem, it'll be bargain bin.

I cant really give this game more than a 3-4 the services side of the game has 'artificially grind' which just seem its there to push people to pay more money the story is ok but it seems to change direction its almost like it was going to be a single player game with a co-op mode then they change their mind and make it a live services game, over all it's really not worth it it's ok butI cant really give this game more than a 3-4 the services side of the game has 'artificially grind' which just seem its there to push people to pay more money the story is ok but it seems to change direction its almost like it was going to be a single player game with a co-op mode then they change their mind and make it a live services game, over all it's really not worth it it's ok but certainly not amazing at all, there is far better super hero games around than this, what could of been a really good game with solid IP is just not worth it, to me anyone that's giving this game anything like a 9/10 or 10/10 cant of played the game a lot and they cant be thinking of games like spider-man on PS4 or the Batman games, Expand

It gets a three for being an Avengers game and that's about it, that's where it stops. This game's character models and voice acting is gross. Gameplay is pretty boring, non existent plot and I don't really care what is going on in the game. I could care less what happens to anyone. If you took the "Avengers" name off of this game, nobody would care about this trash. Save your money, waitIt gets a three for being an Avengers game and that's about it, that's where it stops. Despite the beta, I chose to give this game a second chance. I really wanted to like it, but aside from a few single player moments, it's tough to find many redeeming qualities.

The gear and items you collect throughout the game are supposed to keep you coming back, but it honestly feels like a bunch of busywork. From the vendors, to missions, multiple currencies, and menus, it's all

Glad Stan Lee didn't have to witness one of the most interesting story telling super heroes and fictional characters be represented as lame as this game could anyone get due to greed and microtransactions

It could’ve been a great single player title. The publisher chose to go down the game as a service path though, and those who prefer to play solo need to tackle run-of-the-mill co-op missions. The multiplayer on the other hand is messy, chaotic and in the long run boring. When the developers manage to fix the most pressing bugs and find a way to bring more variety to co-op, this might become a solid game. Right now, I can only recommend it to the biggest fans of the Avengers. [11/2020, p.26]

This is the perfect example of "Games as a Service" done right. Marvel's Avengers offers up a superb campaign story to play through that is promised to be expanded on in the future. The gameplay may be repetitive, but it includes just enough to keep players interested and invested in the endgame content that is available now to keep this game going until the next step in its roadmap. The possibilities and potential in the future here are hugely exciting.

There have been plenty of moments during my time with Marvel's Avengers where I’ve genuinely had a great time. But this game keeps finding ways to drag itself down- at times it almost feels like it goes out of its way to do so. There’s just so much here that I can’t overlook, no matter how hard I may try. An unnecessary and broken loot system, a litany of horrible technical issues, uninspired and one-note mission design, and a story that fails just as much as it succeeds- it doesn’t matter how mindlessly fun the combat is, it isn't enough to overcome such a heavy list of problems.
