    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is for the campaign mode not multiplayer. Some of the combat is fun but a lot is really repetitive. Don't really like the whole run to a room to fight waves of generic enemies just to run to the next room where you rinse and repeat. Seemed to be a lot of mindless button mashing. Being forced to switch characters so often was a drag too. Just when you start enjoying the game play of one you have to switch. Maybe the campaign is just an intro into the multiplayer. Do yourself a favor and play Ghost of Tsushima instead.… Expand

    Finished the campaign and a few post game quest lines. The story was very good and a nice MCU-ish way to introduce the current Ms. Marvel. Single play function very well aside from so slow down in larger fights, and some visual effects could be removed to help cut down on confusion. The multiplayer is very shaky at launch, I’ve yet to get a full team of 4 but 2 hero teams work fineFinished the campaign and a few post game quest lines.     I honestly have so much fun playing this game i don't know why people are hating on it without even playing it first.

    The story is fantastic, Gameplay is great, looting could be better but it's fine for now, but other than that I have no complains so far.

    This game is trash it runs at literally 26 or 27 fps not even a stable 30 and it's locked Spiderman with a 400$ wall the graphics are so disgusting

    This game is a masterpiece. As a comic and game fan this is possibly one of the best adaptations of a superhero game. I’m a huge Spider-Man fan, but I don’t think I enjoyed that game as much as this. It’s definitely not as risky. You may read some criticism that it is very similar to destiny. To an extent there’s a lot of truth to that. I’m not one who enjoys Destiny. But I would say thatThis game is a masterpiece. As a comic and game fan this is possibly one of the best adaptations of a superhero game. I’m a huge Spider-Man fan, but I don’t think I enjoyed that game as much as this. But I would say that this is as close to Destiny as Ghost of Tsushima is to Assassin‘s creed. That being said, it’s not the game model that makes the game good or bad. It’s how it’s made. This game is made with a lot of heart. What really interested me was the interactions between Marvel characters. Most of the characters speak and act as I have always read them to. And i’m excited to see what the new roster will bring. I don’t think people who like the MCU may enjoy this game, but authentic comic fans will be thrilled to see this new narrative. I have already put in 30 hours and feel like I’ve barely touched the surface. With new updates incoming soon, I am finally enjoying 1 thing in 2020.… Expand

    I think the most frustrating part of this game is that it dangles in front of you “what it could be”. Just think if they had made this a linear game with hub areas like another Square product FFVII Remake, or say they decided to go open world like Insomniac’s Spider-Man.

    single player is about 10-12 hours depending on how much you do, with endgame being mission baised areas, that some people will probably get tired/burnt out on it fast

    This is THE Avengers game is was waiting for, for years. I am so intrigued. There are flaws.... and there are problems at the moment, yes, but nothing game breaking, at least for me.

    The Story is nice, people complaining to not know Kamala and making her non-existent new character should really get more into comics ^^

    Looking forward to the Quantum Realm DLC this autumn :)

It just keeps getting worse the longer you play. This story is not fire. It's not awesome. It’s not intriguing, it doesn’t draw you in. The terrible cringe of the writing won’t grow on you. IT SUCKS! The multiplayer aspect of the game finds itself getting in the way of the single player experience. The story itself isn't necessarily a bad one.     I’d been waiting so long for this game and it didn’t disappoint. I’ll give it a 9.5/10 only because I felt as if the story was too short, I loved it so much that it would’ve been great if they had expanded it a bit more. The gameplay is amazing, it feels smooth and fun. The characters and their relationships are amazing, I had my doubts at first but they did an amazing job with them.     The negative reviews are like reading any comment section of any social network app out there. People love to hate these days. Is this game super deep like Skyrim or something? Of course not. It's not supposed to be. It is a very fun game to play! Kids and Marvel fans of all ages will love it!

    This game from the story aspect is AMAZING!
    I love the characters and the voice actors are doing a great job. For the online it can get a bit boring when your alone but with 1 or 2 friends it super fun. For marvel fans this game is for you.

    Décalage de son, bug audio a répétition comme disque rayéJeu pas du tout optimisé pour ps4 de base... Point positif est la version FR quand ça bug pas. L'histoire est bien sans plus. Le jeu manque clairement d'optimisation. Pour moi le jeu est encore en Alpha test. Mettez vous au boulot.

    Very fun! People will inevitably compare to PS4 Spidey, but that doesn't feel like a reasonable comparison since the games are so different. The grinding may be a bit of a drag at times but the varied gameplay mechanics and fun story make up for the smash-and-loot parts.

    I was very in the fence, but I am so pleasent surprised with this title that I decided to be very generous with my grade.

    Its for sure a 8! Just needs some polish and some FPS stability and we have a title to play super heroes and grind for gear and upgrades.

    Loving it!

Numerous functional issues including local save only (cannot Steam cloud save), complete inability to replay the campaign so then locked into 'end game' multi-player, disappearing inventory and collectible items, incomplete/inaccurate animations and cut scenes, subtitles which outright do not match dialogue, and extensive bugs and crashes... EvenAs it stands, I cannot recommend this game. Numerous functional issues including local save only (cannot Steam cloud save), complete inability to replay the campaign so then locked into 'end game' multi-player, disappearing inventory and collectible items, incomplete/inaccurate animations and cut scenes, subtitles which outright do not match dialogue, and extensive bugs and crashes... Even if looking past the gameplay knocks for minimal playstyle variance between heroes, and an equipment grind so unnoticeably rewarding it rivals Destiny, this game is rife with issues enexcusable from this tier of studio.

    How anyone can reasonably rate this higher than a 6.5 baffles me. As it stands, I could not grant it more than a 4. I would note that if all the functional issues gets changed, it would skyrocket to an 8+, but that is hopeful and minimally months away.    … Expand

    Skill trees, great looter, fun combat, each character plays very different everything I expected from this game, wat i didnt expect was how good the campaign story wld be it definitely surprised me, I wld of gave a solid 10 if they wld of finished polishing and ironed out the bugs, but its nothing that ruins the experience

    Im 15 hours in loving everything about this game truly a top tier superhero game. Some of the best gameplay I've seen in a game. Story is fantastic just overall a very fun game especially for any Marvel fan. Don't let the hate ruin this game for you its a blast

    I love love love the game. I like the graphics, the gameplay, fighting is very exciting. I have been playing Black Widow and at first thought her moves were limited but now that I have got her up to level 22, it's a whole another story.

    The story/campaign is more entertaining than I thought it would be. I did not have high hopes for liking Khamala but she definitely grew on me. The    I love love love the game. I like the graphics, the gameplay, fighting is very exciting. I have been playing Black Widow and at first thought her moves were limited but now that I have got her up to level 22, it's a whole another story.

    The story/campaign is more entertaining than I thought it would be. I did not have high hopes for liking Khamala but she definitely grew on me. The voice acting is great. Not understanding why people are knocking off points just bc they don't like the lead character. I didn't either at first but I have to admit it is well done.

    Cons: level designs can be a bit repetitive, hopefully future content will have more variety.
    -read about glitches that others have experienced. my only glitch so far has been Khamala appearing bald in a cut scene
    -matchmaking in multiplayer was still a bit slow during early release. hopefully that will pick up today 9/4 on release day    … Expand

The gameplay for each character is perfect and make you want to try them all and have different built for various play session. Thanks Crystal dynamics and Square. Can't wait for the upcoming heroes and missons added post launch for free I must add. As a huge fan of this medium, IBeen having fun for the past couple of days on Marvel Avengers either solo or playing in Co-op with my wife.     I thought they did an incredible job capturing the story, it’s very cinematic but as a fan of the films it was like a film. In terms of the loot system, it’s not brilliant but I do really like the challenge cards which since I first played keep me coming back to unlock more for my favourite characters.     There's a line near the end of the game, "You're no hero, you're a mistake"(see I played the entire campaign) and that is what this game is, ...a huge mistake that Square Enix clearly could not salvage. Some parts of the game are definitely cool and it seems the cool stuff was finished early, but when it came to making an actual video game, somehow Square Enix... with their burgeoning market cap, could not find a way to release a finished game. I have absurd capture video of terrible, experience ruining bugs, from cut scenes... on a PS4 Pro. Even if you enjoyed the story, the terrible coding job leads to cut scenes with Steve Rogers eyeballs popping from his skull and his lips, seemingly, melted together; rendering anything thing he's saying as stupid looking.

    I ended up lowering the difficulty to Easy once I had to do a full solo Iron Man mission. The level design for the solo mission was just too stupid when you have no skills unlocked. The game goes from sorta fun, to fun, to broken game design that makes you want to never support video games with your money again.

    And on top of everything, the main mission story barely cuts together just like fights don't cut together with cut scenes. For $20, this is a "maybe" purchase; but $60 or more for this is an insult to gamers. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game as a service with the kind of robust story campaign with side missions worth $60. If companies like Square Enix want to make games like this, with short pathetic campaigns; charge $20.    … Expand

    Marvels Avengers bring the feels to be a hero. To Control our favoritos heros. Game have some problems, like eventual rate frame drop and some texture bugs. But that dont screw up the game experience.

    El juego esta chulisimo, se ve muy bien y me gusta mucho, lo malo es que cada personaje tenga un pase de batalla que cueste 10 € ¡me parece abusivo!

    While I enjoyed playing it, the game has it flaws. The performance in huge battles can dip a lot, the camera is not the best and there are some bugs. But I enjoyed the combat and some of the big battles (sometimes it can be too chaotic)
    And I like the main character but what I really dislike is Tony Starks character, normally I like Nolan North but I found him way too annoying as Tony    While I enjoyed playing it, the game has it flaws.     Amazing story! A lot of customisation for characters and a good in depth combat system with each that adds variety and makes each character feel unique, I love how I can customise my gear and character to fit my playstyle. There’s a lot of content already at launch and I can’t wait to see how this game is later on down the line as more content and characters gets added. Well done squareAmazing story!     This game is an average game. Because the story is not interesting. The boss war is less. The game's final is bad. But it is a playable game for those who love marvel. The duration of the game is short. I will say thank you for reading this much.

    Just wow. You can tell this was made by marvel fans. The graphics are unreal and the story is incredible. Gameplay is perfect for each character. Overall one of the best games I have ever played. Can’t wait for what’s to come

    I loved the games combat and story even though it was a bit short however I believe the additional free dlc will make up for it the combat is pretty good and you have 4 pages of skill trees which is neat

    As an even more direct comparison, I'd liken it to Monster Hunter World, as the game-loop is very much the same. You select an area (which essentially is your arena), there's minimal exploring, and the main draw is: fighting/taking out enemies so that you can get better loot, upgrade your skills, and then fight tougher enemies.

    Is the game perfect? No. In particular, the matchmaking (at this time of release at least) takes longer than you'd hope, and there's weird little graphical hiccups here and there (on my OG PS4). But all-in-all I'd easily recommend the game.

    Crystal Dynamics seems really excited to take on the challenge of keeping the game interesting, and they're always asking for player input, which is super refreshing to see.    … Expand

    Marvels avengers really surprised me with its story and mechanics while the missions can get repetitive it will never not be fun to hurl vibranium in someone’s direction while a friend pins them down with mjolnir Please properly read reviews loads of people are review bombing the game

    The game is good, its give you a chance how to feel like an Avenger. The game have depth about character development, and it is have a potential future. I give 8/10 to it, but I score a 10 because of the xbox and other retards who underrate the game.

    The Story is a bit on the dark side, the narration and motivations are well written. The Character Dialogue has it's moments especially when you bring certain heroes on a mission together. The voice acting is done well, not coming off overly cheesy.

    The True Fun lies in the difficulty, this game can be as easy or hard as you want but playing on Hard or Brutal with Challenge IV Modifiers makes for some intense, action-packed missions. The game rewards you based on how well you complete these missions, so the tougher and better you play the better your gear & rewards.

    Problems people may have with the game is that each hero has to be leveled & geared individually. This may make play redundant especially when you've already completed missions on your Main Hero. A Remedy is that there are Factions which reward you with gear & items as you earn Rep by doing daily and weekly missions. Building rep will make the gearing of alternate Hereos less tedious.

    To me, this game feels Diabloesque with you constantly getting loot drops & building sets to suit your playstyle. With more heroes being added along with DLC, the varied playstyles and your personal interests in Hero building will keep the game interesting whether single or Co-op for the foreseeable future.    … Expand

    Beyond the game play as a whole I'm going to criticize the way this game is being advertised and monetized. Insomniac already showed how to make a proper super hero video game and now Square Enix is shoveling out this embarrassment as an easy cash grab.

That doesn't make any sense...it makes so little sense that I'm actually offended that they tried to pass it off as quality content.

    On top of that, you only get to really play as 4 of the 6 members of The Avengers, as two of the team isn't unlocked until the campaign is almost completed. The foundation for a decent game is here, but at launch this is NOT worth the price. Marvel fans should wait a year until they pick this game up. As by then they'll hopefully be an actual game worth playing.

The game also feature a descent amount of cosmetic items; including very amazing skins, nameplate and emotes. I would agree with the fact that it’s a shame the gear don’t affect your look, you mist instead farm units, gather blueprints or simply buy cosmetics through the in game micro transactions. Yet again, I found myself enjoying this game the most while playing with friends. My verdict? You should definitely get this game if you are a marvel fan and if you have a squad ready to hop in with you. Don’t be scare to come across bugs and glitches cause you will and let the narrative experience drive you forward as you develop and get attach to each character! It surely isn’t for everyone, but I think this game has a lot of future potential with Kate Bishop and hawkeye on the way and future dlcs being 100% free!… Expand

    It could’ve been a great single player title. The publisher chose to go down the game as a service path though, and those who prefer to play solo need to tackle run-of-the-mill co-op missions. The multiplayer on the other hand is messy, chaotic and in the long run boring. When the developers manage to fix the most pressing bugs and find a way to bring more variety to co-op, this might become a solid game. Right now, I can only recommend it to the biggest fans of the Avengers. [11/2020, p.26]

    This is the perfect example of "Games as a Service" done right. Marvel's Avengers offers up a superb campaign story to play through that is promised to be expanded on in the future. The gameplay may be repetitive, but it includes just enough to keep players interested and invested in the endgame content that is available now to keep this game going until the next step in its roadmap. The possibilities and potential in the future here are hugely exciting.

    There have been plenty of moments during my time with Marvel's Avengers where I’ve genuinely had a great time. But this game keeps finding ways to drag itself down- at times it almost feels like it goes out of its way to do so. There’s just so much here that I can’t overlook, no matter how hard I may try. An unnecessary and broken loot system, a litany of horrible technical issues, uninspired and one-note mission design, and a story that fails just as much as it succeeds- it doesn’t matter how mindlessly fun the combat is, it isn't enough to overcome such a heavy list of problems.
