Started off strong but terrible writing ruined it for me, markus as a character is so bland coupled with poor voice acting everything about his character was cringey, conor was by far the most interesting and if the whole game had been from his point of view cut out the other 2 and it might have been ok

So corny and bad that it's good! Some of the options are downright goofy, like the part where you are trying to calm down a guy who is on a ledge and has a gun to a girl's head, and you can say, "Hi, my name is Conner", like that is going to calm him down lmfao (funny thing is, his goofiness is the saving grace of the game). Generic angry cops that hate their job, a crazy art collector with a burnout son and a drugged up angst-y lonely man with abusive and rape-y tenancies are some of the supporting characters you will encounter in this "game".

Oh and when you mom told you to clean the house and wash the dishes, you didn't do it did you? You were to busy doing that exact same thing in-game by doing hadouken motions with the right stick next to trash bins, weren't you?

Marcus, who inspired all androids and was not afraid to engage in battle with people. Connor... just a cute character (Bryan Dechart Is Awesome). I fell in love with his image instantly. As soon as I saw the trailer on E3, I realized that Connor is my favorite character. The visual component of the game at altitude. When I played, I did not distinguish reality from the game ....

The story and the graphics are just perfect. We play together and sit every evening tied up and overwhelmed in front of the Tv.
Of course you are bound to processes here and it's not an open world game, but that's not what it's supposed to be, it's a thrilling cinematic story to take part in. Many thanks for the great piece of art !

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I came into the game thinking that it would all be ok even on expert mode.I loved the introduction to Connor his mission is challenging, and extremely dark because all endings have someone die I experienced all of them before I could save the kid. But I also love that if you try hard enough (not really) you can get so incredibly close with Lt.Anderson and learn so much because of him and being able to become a Deviant because of your relationship with him saving the Lt. Is totally worth it but you can die saving him.
Kara's story is more about knowing what to do and who to trust. I loved most of the good characters that Kara meets, Luthor Is such an amazing person and is so kind, and Alice while being picky was ok,I loved Rosa and how much she sacrifices. the theme park was one of the most beautiful parts of the story alongside Connors confrontation with Hank near the bridge ,and Markus' infamous painting secene or the death of his dad.
Markus' story was about choosing light or darkness, his companions show each side North Darkness,Josh Light, and Simon Neutral.
Peaceful is the best way to end things,in the almost perfect end Connor confronts the other Connor model and Hank saves him Connor after returning to Markus is being taken over while Markus gives his speech,I wasn't able to save them,My ending for Kara endied with Luthor AND Alice Dead and I decided to keep living as Kara. And once the final cutcene started playing I was already on the floor crying at 3:00 in the morning and stayed that way for at least twenty minutes. In conclusion I would totally recommend this game and it's so close to perfect it is.

This was possibly the most emotionally invested I have ever been in the lives and story of a video game. Decisions are difficult to make (choices live in the gray area) and every choice you make has weight and meaning. I cannot recommend a more moving game which features strong topics about segregation, and equal rights, with a look into a possible forseeable future. BUY THIS GAME!

A nearly perfect game. Unless you're looking for a game with more twitch reflex action of couch co-op sort of stuff, this is the best PlayStation exclusive you can buy for the system, hands down. The story is griping, the characters believable, and the game's extremely replayable with how many different story avenues you can go down. Would love to see this world explored again in a sequel.

I have finished all Quantic Dream's (not David Cage, he is not QD, people should give the studio the credit!) games since Fahrenheit and while I enjoyed them, there was always something lacking or too much but that trend ended with Detroit for me, it checked all the boxes and got the perfect score from me! It might change in the next-gen but Sony really did an amazing job this generation!I have finished all Quantic Dream's (not David Cage, he is not QD, people should give the studio the credit!) games since Fahrenheit and while I enjoyed them, there was always something lacking or too much but that trend ended with Detroit for me, it checked all the boxes and got the perfect score from me! It might change in the next-gen but Sony really did an amazing job this generation! (I own all three major consoles and love the games without factoring which console it's on)

I can't believe how much negative reception the game got, I assume it's because David Cage is probably not much of a decent human himself but maybe those reviews should have factored the team behind it and judge the game, not the studio head.

    Let's get to the game:

First of all, the decisions really mattered and the game really changes based on them; it's also so smooth that you don't realize that you might be off the path. But the amazing point is, it's not just for the sake of having different paths, they actually are all well-crafted!

The three separate characters really feel like three different games with Kara being my favourite one and Connor and Markus tied at second (ok, I like Connor a bit more, to be honest!), yet somehow the stories come together so well that you can feel the butterfly effect! Unlike Heavy Rain which had very poor voice acting, the acting in Detroit is amazing, I really liked the level of attention and the love the actors had put in! (I recommend watching the behind the scenes clips of the show)

The music was top notch, great idea to have three different artists for each character, really well-done!

The graphics are so great and beat games released this year! It's amazing how well it performs on PS4. Granted, you should like the genre: it's not everybody's cup of tea but if you do like Interactive Narratives, this game is hands down the best one ever made.

I was going through the news and saw that QD recently formed a new partnership with NetEase so I am not sure if the next QD game would be a loot box riddled mobile game or else, but if this is the last AAA game they made, it ended on a high note!

There are flow charts at the end of each chapter to show how many routes you can make and also what % people chose in each route, which is briilant idea ! Story is good too, though not perfect yet for my liking but they did quite good job here. The starting chapter can easily hook you up. Some chapters are somewhat dragging in my opinion but overall I was satisfiled.

The bad part ,however, are the choices that sometimes unclear to me of what characters will do. They should give us more explanation in each choices. For exp, in the first episode there is one choice "Blame" but they did not explicitly tell you who are gonna be blamed ? I thought our protagnist was gonna blame human, but instead he blame the villian, which made situation worse and not what I intend. I had to frustatedly reload the mission again. The unclear choices like this one happened many times in the games and are very critical to gameplay so I was gonna game this game 8/10. However, after I reconclied everything and thought about how vast the content is. I think 9/10 is solid because I took about 15-20 hrs to beat this game first time and yet I feel like it is only 1/3 of all content. There are so many route I could explore. In term of all content, it could have been 40 hrs or so, which is very huge for a movie interactive game like this.

In sum, Detroit Become Human is really worth playing. It is definitely amazing game. I strongly recommend everyone to try it out even just the demo.

Secondly, that metascore of 78 is absolute **** I think we should all be looking at the userscore which is 8.7 which is far more accurate. This game was shat on by critics because it didn't apparently follow their politics and follow their agendas. Just look at the amount of bs articles on it by Polygon and Kotaku. I've also heard some people don't like David Cage, but thats no reason to **** on game and be biased needlessly.

Apparently the developer thought that since everyone is so in the love with the idea that almost everyone and everything is racist that they could cash in on it by making a game or interactive movie about the desperate and unjust plight of future androids. They basically equate it with past racism and slavery.

Personally, I say bring on the androids, but not the ones in this game, which are ridiculous and will never happen. Then again, considering they will be made and programmed by humans, maybe androids aren't a good idea.

Anyway, if you want to watch a lot of moaning, screaming and preaching about injustice, save yourself some money and just turn on the news or go on social media.

Great game. It has a fantastic story to it, as it shows the story of Connor, Kara, and Markus becoming human, even though they were created as an android. I wish I had this game on my Xbox, however, as I messed up many of the controls with my PlayStation controller.

However, there is one part of the story that I must complain about, as it has made me incredibly angry. When Kara, Alice, and possibly Luther get to the bus station towards the end of the game, I was searching around for tickets and found the dark walkway to the parking lot, where I met up with Rose and Adam. They took me to head across the river, but what makes me angry is that the game did not give me the option to go back, because when I crossed the river, both Kara and Luther died, leaving Alice on her own. That alone pisses me off, and both because of that and it being exclusive to PlayStation, I give it a 9/10.

This game literally astounded me with its story telling at certain points. At the beginning I was pulled in by the characters for their stories and what was going on with them, Connor, the top of the line android built to hunt his own kind, slowly turning to those he meant to hunt, Kara, an android that became a mother to a child, but most powerful of all, Markus l, someone who's story at the beginning seemed relatively small, but them you realise that this is the man to change the world. With the choices I follewed the best scene of the game came when Markus stood his grind again impossible odds (which I won't speak of due to spoilers, but the sheer emotion and power behind this scene left me breathless) and the game continues this way till the end. Amazing, would rate 11/10 of I could. Expand

“I got this one thing that i thought did a thing and it did something entirely different and i was not ready for it. I’m gonna redo that part and NOT do that thing.”
So, word out there curious about this “game”, choose wisely. You can always come back and redo the choices if you’re not satisfied but you can not take back the emotions once you mess up. It sticks with you. I got mostly happy...ish endings on my characters except one. That one wasn’t satisfying either. I’m in the process of redoing it but then i’ve gotta go through the endings again and i’m not looking forward to all the emotions flooding back. The first wave was enough without the tsunami. Definitely worth paying full price or at least $30. I got it free and i feel guilty that i got it free. Thanks playstation plus, but i really should’ve paid for this out of pocket instead of part of my yearly subscription.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For the first time ever, I loved a David Cage game. The story is well written and the game is affected by choices. There's a variety of ways to finish certain chapters that can effect the relationship of characters and the way the story goes, which makes you want to play it more than once. My one problem with this game is that the public opinion doesn't really matter. Even if the public opinion is good, no human would protest with the androids. It goes with an "android good, human bad" message rather than "humans can agree with their machines". It would have had a stronger impact on the ending if the police shot at the crowd and red blood was spilled. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One word: speechless.

Detroit: Become Human absolutely floored me. I was unprepared for the emotional impact of helping a host of charismatic androids achieve their freedom. I woke up to find Detroit was free on PS4. I started playing around 6 am, and I continued playing well till about 10 pm. There's so much to say about this game but I'll be brief.

Let yourself believe. Follow the story of these androids as their destinies unfold. It is dramatic and unspeakably heart-wrenching to experience so vividly the lives of others of another time and place. I truly felt for these characters. I was moved by their desires, their experiences, their determination. I was humbled by their hope and was devastated by their sufferings.

Detriot: Become Human might have unknowingly bridged the gap between cinema, game, and novel. The reviews critiquing the game's writing are thorough and also examine elements that are largely unexpected of a game. The writing, the acting, and the pacing are phenomenal. There are many iconic moments in this game. From Markus' relationship with Carl, from him finding love, from Connor breaking free of his programming, from Kara, Alice, and Luther becoming a family, to the countless other possible endings. I recommend playing your first playthrough as how you believe the character would behave or react. You could also play how you believe you would act. A combination of both is also possible. Either way, be honest and focused on the story Don't eat while your playing, don't be half paying attention scrolling through Twitter, no. Treat this story the way you would treat a movie at a theater that you were dying to go see. Treat this like the first read-through of your favorite book. Treat this like the paintings and photographs hung in galleries. Be focused and attentive. Detroit: Become Human will take care of the rest.

I enjoyed this game for the most part and it really tied a heart gripping connection between the three main characters and the host of supporting ones.

Although this game is very well crafted and something I thoroughly enjoyed, it did have some small unfortunates. The game was well written and narrative was solid, however I felt gridlocked at points, sometimes I would choose an option not knowing that it would lead me the wrong direction. I also felt cornered from some parts of the game based on my actions, and while this is a major in game mechanics, I felt clouded as to the overall ending I was headed for.

Though is was sometimes a bit misleading, I still enjoyed the game. The tense dialogue decisions, relationships with other characters and the whole arc of the story ran really well. I loved the perspective of three very different characters. I loved how it broke the bounds of a human connection and roped in a real potential in a robotic future. Every niche and stone from the menu screen android to the wonderful map terrain was really captivating.

Quantic Dream knows how to make a game, they understand how to bound a deeper connection, how to punish for consequence abiding actions. Having played an earlier game of theirs in Heavy Rain I expected a solid standard of content and it smashed the standard of narrative driven games beyond a countable limit.

While I have some down points, they do not compare to the overall enjoyment I had. Execution was unparallel in a story sense and really dominated in giving gameplay as well as the control of the final ending.

The story might contain plotholes and miss oppurtunities here and there, it still is innovative in comparison to 95% of the games that were released over the last years. The emotional and immersive depths that really drives the pulse when it comes to making decisions is outstanding and thus a 10/10+ for me.

The graphics are stunning, although the engine is facing minor fps drops at times on a PS4 Pro with SSD. This is only on very few scenes but still notable. I d rate this a solid 9/10.

The controls are okay. Some QTEs are very fast and probably not nice for casuals. Also some triple button combinations are pretty strange. Combined with: pressing button, holding button or sliding the pad is sometimes confusing. When it decides about life or death it feels frustrating at times. This is at most a 6/10 for me as QTEs in general are somewhat sub-par to other game elements. Another thing to note is the VERY slow walking pace that drove me nuts at times.

Replayability is between 0/10 and 10/10. Now this is an interesting one. Detroit is really huge when it comes to decision paths and replayability. This also covers completely new scenes and actions. On the other hand you need to replay many parts at times where you cannot even skip the cutscenes. This is absolutely stupid and not understandable at all. I was tempted to 100% it but I probablly will skip this endeavour. Also some decisions might seem game changers but then they are not. Dead androids sometimes come back, some endings still do not change at all. It is a bit weird and probably reducing the complexity to more meaningful choices and a better system would ve helped a lot. The story wants me to replay, the system does not. It is a sad 4/10 for me.

After all this game is absolutely worth a buy at a discounted price tag. The game has an emotional immersion that is amazing. Sometimes it feels so hard to make decisions or side with or against persons. I personally did like the story a lot. The characters are cool and touching with small deficits. I was wondering a little bit that they let the chance of DLCs pass. I think the story lines could ve been pushed even further maybe Quantic decides to go on Detroit 2 somewhen but I personally doubt it.

Detroit: Become Human is a story-driven, "choose-your-adventure"-style game from Quantic Dream and David Cage, creator of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.

Gameplay-wise, I'd say Detroit is the best of Quantic Dream's trilogy. It's a mix of Heavy Rain's QTEs and Beyond's simplistic controls. Heavy Rain's tank controls are replaced by Beyond's standard navigation, and QTEs are less complex but still require reflexes. There is a bit of exploration and light puzzles, but I mostly enjoyed the crime scene recreations. As always, your choices shape the game's story, both in subtle and big ways.

Detroit has 3 protagonists: androids Connor, Markus and Kara. Markus is an android who rises up against humans and demands freedom for its kind, Connor investigates a case of various androids becoming self-aware, and Kara is a nobody whose story runs in parallel to that of Markus and Connor who come in direct conflict. Kara is the easiest of the 3 to get killed (I had the bad luck of doing it early and missed up on a 3rd of the game's total content), Connor can repeatedly die and come back during the story, while Markus can only get killed in the very end. You can always reload a specific save point and replay whatever part you want.

Mechanically speaking, Detroit is David Cage's best work to-date. The game's story has many branches based on the player's choices (you can even see the diagram mid-game). Your choices have consequences where even main characters can get killed. Graphics, voice-acting and soundtrack are great. But the story itself is a disappointment. While there are some great moments and a few very powerful scenes, the overall plot is uninspired. David Cage poses the question of what an artificial being would be like and what humans would do if a race of robots became self-aware and rebeled, but dares not to fully explore this idea. As if Cage was afraid of going deep. In common with Beyond, when David Cage tries to write a big story with worldwide ramifications he kinda misses the point, whereas Heavy Rain's more personal kind of story was very focused and well executed. Maybe David Cage should have written Detroit's story in a more personal style.

Still, Detroit: Become Human is a very enjoyable game. While Heavy Rain still has the better story, Detroit is Quantic Dream's best game. I hope they release another great game in the future.

This was definitely the highest quality product this studio has come out with yet, and in my opinion gave you the greatest connection to your characters than either game before it had. Going back to the Heavy Rain style of controlling multiple characters was an excellent call, and each of them were so dynamically different that I could never truly pick a favorite to play as because I equally loved them all. This game really made you feel like you were crafting the story of the game itself as opposed to just following the events and making choices, and this was backed with real threat levels like how early a lot of your characters can die if you're not careful. The story was just absolutely fantastic; so many emotions. Good feels, sad feels, moments of power, moments of weakness, and choices that were so difficult to make I had to pause and just lay back and think about them before making them. This game was more than I ever expected it could be, and I can't wait to add it to my list of Platinum titles. If you've played Heavy Rain, this game will feel like it's true successor. The best possible kind of interactive storytelling. One of the best sci-fi video games around. A must buy for any PS4!

For what this is, it is a great "game". Replay-ability is just immerse. Plot is great, characters are even better. Your decisions really matter. What else one can want from "interactive movie"

You are given choices to make that test your decision-making abilities and your morals and values. Many of the choices you make will have consequences both immediate and distant. That is the beauty of this game.

The story is the key facet of the game, and for the most part I found it highly engrossing and I was keen to see the next stages, however towards the end it faltered slightly into more cliché territories, however this did not detract from my enjoyment of the game.

The graphics are quite amazing on my PS4 Pro. The same can be said for sound.

I do have a gripe or two, although they aren't massive. Sometimes when presented with choices, particularly in conversations, the description of your choice doesn't always represent the choice itself. For example, you may choose to respond to someone with "suspicion", but instead the response is actually more like outright hostility that goes too far in a direction I did not intend. However these instances were rare.

Overall, this is a great game and a change of pace from most games today. It's definitely worth a go at recent prices of

David Cage finally nailed it! After Fahrenheit, Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls, Detroit Become Human gets everything right: the pace, the charisma, the tension, the mechanics, all well balanced. I went from heaven to hell, never getting bored or disappointed by the flow even when I didn't like the consequences since they felt fair from what I had to evaluate. Detroit should become the example to be followed by Quantic Dream in their future endevours in this amazing genre! I didn't feel the quick time events as being quick time events, actually feeling the emotions of the scene most of the time instead of just pressing buttons. Three protagonists worked well, not being four too many like Heavy Rain or just two or one like Fahrenheit and Beyond Two Souls. And there was no supernatural over the top moments totally changing the atmosphere of the game like on the first and third games. It's a must play! Expand

The plot is awesome. The gameplay is suspenseful and intense. Just be sure to judge this game as a mix of tv series and game itself. Highly recommended for those who love sci-fi books and movies.

If you are into the narrative story you will certainly get in this game. Your choices and decision certainly impact the end.
However, there is not much of gameplay here. you will press buttons and will see the story develop

fine! very exciting, but there are boring missions, very boring .. minus point for a couple of boring missions and for not skipping scenes, which makes it difficult to knock out platinum .. and so, the lightest platinum

Fantastic game, thought-provoking and well designed from a structure of giving you the freedom to make mistakes, but yet still give you a gripping satisfying story. Make sure you stick to your choices for your first playthrough, it really does give the best experience. At the end of the day, you probably won't end up with the best ending, but it's *your* ending. Detroit: Become Human delivers a story with a ton of possible choices, and a lot of questions for a player to bear afterward. If you like it when games make you think about them after you play them, this is the game for you. Stunning visuals and music score, make you forget about some weaker points of the game. But all in all, it is an enjoyable experience you should not miss.

Detroit: Become Human looks and sounds great, and includes key player choices throughout, though it could have benefited greatly from a tighter script. While it’s commendable that Quantic Dream tried to cover hot-button issues in a big-budget video game, it works better when focused on the personal character moments than the bigger themes that don’t dig deep enough to make a meaningful impact.

Although the narrative is fairly linear, there are enough branching paths over the course of the game to make it feel like your actions matter. That allows Detroit to still be fun even on multiple playthroughs – and for an interactive movie, that’s a rare praise. [Issue#231, p.68]
