I can easily say that the open environment on planets are awesome. let me explain... a base out in the distance..I get off my ride pull out my sniper rifle and pick out the toughest guy out of the bunch and take him out.... the others scatter looking to hide and they do a very well job of that too...I start flanking.. they notice and regroup...fight continues on or can go all guns out too but its a harder fight that way. Its borderlands and Diablo 3 item collecting added to it and it works well. love the super moves and no one mentioned the perks to your jumps, and grenades, guns with perks you unlock the more you use that gun and much much more. I love the planets each one is very memorable takes you there and draws you into the fantasy setting. I hate nothing more then a level or location that ruins the game this game doesn't do that at all. yes its not perfect cause nothing can be perfect. But from what I played its one of the best FPS I have ever had the privilege of playing. plays like Halo and that's a good thing with light MMO elements tacked on and it works in its favor. sorry cant spell for the life of me hope you understand this. Well if you're into finding loot, getting rewards, playing online Co-OP with friends and playing Online competitive multiplayer for hours upon hours, then go and buy this game. Destiny is great playing alone, but even better when you have 1-4 friends in your fireteam! As for the story, it is a little hidden, but once you get more into it, it's gets really good. Not great, but good. All these negative reviews are just people that are pissed about how "this game isn't even an MMO", but never even read about the game before it's release. Simply put, there is no game on the market that comes anywhere close to what Destiny does. As a game design enthusiast, I feel they just got so much right in this title.

    - The three weapon load out is a golden triangle. Switching between primary, secondary and heavy weapons in pitched battles feels clutch. You have options, but not too many. The power level for each feels highly appropriate. The available combinations to experiment with are numerous. They pioneered this tight + controlled weapon loadout concept in the original Halo and the design language remains strong in Destiny.

    - To continue with the point above, the gameplay and pace for an FPS feels perfect to me. Having the gunfighting component complimented with melee, grenades, and super we see that another golden triangle emerges. Tying stats to these skills was smart. Most all of they make your guardian truly feel *powerful* and unique. The RPG component of this game really has merit and doesn't detract from the FPS elements in the slightest. The skill trees remain fairly balanced between and among classes.

    - While the story was definitely...lacking in plot and exposition, the level + world design has been consistently spot on. Every area feels textured, detailed and respectively thought out. So many beautiful vistas. Travelling through the world on your sparrow can be a pure joy - providing a welcome break from the fettered pace of combat. Another beautiful and under-appreciated design feature.

    - The sound design in this game is the best I've ever come across. No title matches Destiny my honest, humble opinion when it comes to sound effects. Certain exotics are just sound addictive. Sparrows sound amazing. The hugely varied enemies all have amazing triggered sounds upon death and it compliments the FPS mechanics perfectly. You just want to keep popping off enemies.

    - They finally added meaningful multiplayer to an FPS. Competitive PvP is great and all, but what really makes Destiny sweet is the strikes and raids. These are the bread and butter of Destiny and really what make it stand apart from other games on the market. I've been a huge proponent of cooperative gameplay ever since Halo 1 truly pioneered split-screen play. Playing with other humans against AI just makes it so much more involving and fun, it's hard to put a finger on it. The loot from these activities is a huge draw that keeps you coming back for more, reminds me very much of Diablo 2. Completing your first raid feels like a huge accomplishment in teamwork. The feeling is really only matched by a handful of MMORPGs. Bungie deserves all the credit in the world for bringing this not only to FPS players, but to console users as well.

    - The lore is captivating and the entire premise of the world is highly alluring. I love how this is a science fiction title based in our own solar system, not some randomly named star-system we could care less about. The combination of familiarity and wonder really comes together for a backdrop that is truly unmatched for the vast majority of game titles. This is a game I willingly invest myself in because it's just so damn cool. Coolest game I've played in the last decade. This is obviously a highly subjective opinion but I just had to say it.

The dialogue in the game in a little bland, but also inoffensive. The game play has rock solid controls and it feels like a Halo game. The graphics are impressive while not groundbreaking, but the game runs at a steady clip and I've notice no technical problems with it's performance. You have a very limited set of options creating a character before you begin the game allowing you to choose one of three classes, races, and a few options to customize your look. Once you start playing your character grows stronger as you play gaining better equipment as rewards for completeing quests. The most impressive aspect of Destiny in my opinion is is co-operative features that allow you to team up with friends or strangers organically in the game world. I believe it's a cross between Halo, Borderlands, and Call of Duty in some aspects but also believe it is it's own game and very unique. I have played this game every single day since release and find myself thinking about this game when I'm not playing or on the mobile app looking at stats or information. Here is a list and detailed explanation of the pros and cons.

    Pros

The gameplay and combat are superb and the best I've ever seen, from the sounds of the weapons shooting and reloading to the bodies flying a la ragdall style! It is a very satisfying feeling getting a headshot on "The Fallen" (AI you're fighting against)! Every gun looks, feels, and shoots in it's own unique style. You can throw a grenade into a mob full of enemies and watch the bodies fly. Each body shot you do has a different effect on your enemies, shoot them in the leg, they slowly try to get away. PVP is a great example of gameplay and combat because most players will have different weapons and each player uses them differently. I personally recommend hand cannons because of the power with each shot and the feeling of 1 click headshots but someone else may prefer a fully automatic assault rifle using spray & pray. You really "feel" it when you shoot enemies or other players and it just feels right. This is where Destiny is awesome is the combat and weapon system.

The graphis aren't the best I've ever seen but still look impressive on the PS4 to say the least. I have stopped during gameplay just to awe at the landscape because it really looks great. You can see the sun go down and the rays shine through trees and you can forget you are in the middle of a fight with the Fallen. Other characters look really nice, even when you get close up, the textures do not lose their crisp look. This game is somewhat open world but it does still somehow feel kind of "closed" off. You can go almost anywhere but the landscape in the far off distance is not reachable, at least not yet.

Music - The music in Destiny is worthy to take note of. Many of the boss fights become even more epic because of the music that is being played. It really immerses you in the moment and I think it even hightens the situation that much more. The soundtrack is out and getting great reviews already.

I know this game has gotten a lot of negative reviews and many feel it was all hype and didn't deliver. I gave this a 9 and not a 10 because of how much I'm addicted to this game and it's been a long time since I've been this hooked on something. The story is not so great, the story of this game is definetley incomplete and many have been upset about that. I have also been pretty upset about the loot system considering I had successfully completed over 50+ strikes (at about 30+ minutes each) and always came in first place with my amount of kills/assists and etc. and never once won a legendary item. I continued to remain patient and finally started getting legendary and exotic items and now that I'm level 28, I have 4 exotics and full legendary gear/weapons. It will happen, you WILL get great gear but there is no rhyme or reason to it, it is all random no matter how well you perform.

The stories and loot system I beleive or the negative points of this game and the reason I dropped it to a 9 out of possible 10. But the gameplay, music, sounds, graphics, and the POSSIBILITY of getting awesome gear keeps me coming back. I hate this game so much I love it! They got it wrong on some major areas but got it right on some major areas. I play this game because I'm finally getting all this great gear and my character looks bad ass, I can play with my friends and we have a blast in strikes and PVP.

    My advice:

If you have played an MMO where you have grinded the same mobs and maps over and over and over and over to get good gear and you still enjoyed it, get this game!

If you do NOT like playing game that are a grind with the same levels and mobs over and over and over, do NOT get this game!

The most common complaint I see is "boring, grind-fest, you do the same thing over and over." What were you people expecting? Mini-games? Every FPS on the market is repetitive, almost every single game is repetitive. Mechanics are in place, settings that allow you to play the game with those mechanics are in place. You don't play the same level over and over; the levels take place on planets which are each one giant map. You can play the story/strike missions, where you are led through certain areas of the map and certain enemies will be present, or, you can play the free-roam map where you can explore the whole planet while doing side missions.

The multiplayer aspect of this game is perfectly integrated. So, here's something people thought was going to happen; "You arrive on Planet A and everyone who is playing Destiny on Planet A is there with you." This wouldn't work with an MMOFPS; yeah idiots, it isn't an MMORPG because an FPS can never be an RPG! The population is split into separate servers for each instance so there aren't more players than there are enemies!

Destiny is a great game. It is a fun FPS, with plenty of RPG elements, set in a MMO environment. Before I hit level five I was in a party with two other people (strangers) doing missions together, coordinating against the mobs with voice chat. But, the trolls said that the game is easy, right? Well, games have this thing called "difficulty" where you can choose normal or hard, so by playing some missions on hard, we needed to be on the same page and we were! Wow.

It's so strange when so many people 'claim' to have experienced a game that is completely separate from the one I'm experiencing...the one that the people I've played with are experiencing. There are so many people on the internet who seem compelled to unleash their self-loathing, tortured souls onto the accomplishments of others. The same is true here, the press will give people out there a real look at the successes and flaws of Destiny; and I predict the average score will be in the high 8 to low 9 out of 10 range.

The people who reviewed the game and gave it such low scores couldn't have even gotten 1/4 of the way through the content. (Yeah, level cap is 20; but there are multiple end game raids that will take a long time for people to finish). My score is based on the content I've seen, (up to level 10) combined with my evaluation of the systems in place. Borderlands meets Halo in a persistent world (style of gameplay). Graphics are very good (For a PS4 game). The multiplayer component is easy to use and is very important when completing the end-game content or any content, because cooperative and competitive MP is fun... (Really people, did you expect Bungie to create a virtual-world FPS for you to waste your real life on? ITS A GOOD GAME, so go play a different 'repetitive grindfest' if you don't like it.)

P.S. I am mostly a PC gamer, and I haven't played a Bungie game since Halo 2; so I'm not a fanboy or anything like that. This is my actual opinion of the game, which I'm guessing over 200 people (at the time I'm writing this) can't honestly say.

There are some bugs, glitches, and exploits. However, I appreciate the way Bungie is working on these, communicating, and fixing these with the gaming community. All points to Bungie on this.

When you get into Destiny, and if you stay with this game for a while, I doubt you can easily put this game aside for a long time- expansions and sequels.

The best things about Destiny are:
    1. The iron banner multiplayer event.
    2. The raids.
    3. The overall content.
    4. Nightfall strikes.
    5. XUR
    6. Guns.
    7. The joy on dancing with your team or solo.
    8. Grinding - yes, grinding is not bad as you multiple choices on how you grind. -so choose your fun thing and grind away.
    9. The soundtrack.
    10. (Not the least) the multiplayer mechanics - probably the best in the market.

The only flaw or negative comment on my part will be that the release of content is pretty slow. If we had a bit more content available now rather than waiting for the next Dlc, more people will resist switching to alternate games that release in the gaps between the DLCs.

This game certainly stands out and ahead of the crowd.

~~2~ THE COMPANY IS EVIL~ (Bungie)
~And this is a big deal..That story of Bungie ripping off and trying to silence the composer/music director for Bungie is ALL TRUE..And it horrified me...Don't downplay this story my fellow gamers...
because Bungie not only fired the guy, but they kept ALL HIS STOCK IN THE COMPANY. We are talking about 80 Million dollars in stock or whatever the amount was...
*He destroyed Bungie in court and Bungie got yelled at by the Judge for using pathetic Tactics in the courtroom to make it appear like they achieved even a small victory...ALL OF THIS IS 100% TRUE AND CAN EASILLY BE GOOGLED...
~So yeah,,i can ignore Bungie and pretend they are the good ole boys from Halo 1 + 2 and the VICTIMS of Microsoft and they finally got independence. but all the rumours were TRUE about THIS GAME, DESTINY getting nerfed and broken up into pieces...

~~This story was gutted and this is another huuuge story and the reason the score is 78 or 79 instead of the 97 or 98 It woulda shoulda gotten had the game not been cut by 75%..
    YES 75% IS MISSING...

***GREED WON THE DAY AND Bungie reputation took a Hillary style hit...
**I recently returned to Destiny after I bought the newest dumb expansion for $40 bucks..(lame)

**and I was amazed at the control and shooting mechanics...In the eyar off I took, I played Metal gear Solid V for 6 months str8, and I played FARCRY 4,,FARCRY PRIMAL(garbage) and The Division..And both these games are mediocre with guns and control compaired ot DESTINY...
I cant say this enough...But the company is really bad and the rumors I heard about missing content is I suspect TRUE..and that means Bungie is a slave to Activision..Thats the price of theyre freedom from Microsoft...
***Had DESTINY been made by Bungie under Microsoft = we woulda had Game of the year and a legend along the Lines of Halo 1 +2....Activision + Bungie allowed Greed to take control and that sound guy is a eff'n Hero....Bungie/Activision DESTROYED his reputation like Hillary did the women Bill Clinton fed D*** too....This man is a hero who yes wanted his money,,but the reason Bungie fired him was because he took a stand and stood up to activision........EVERYONE WHO IS A GAMER MUST READ THAT STORY....

Atmosphere - 8.5 (playing on PS3 doesn't help much but is acceptable) Graphics= for PS3 I'll give 9 Gameplay 8 it's nice, it is not a golden joystick gameplay but its pretty decent.

I suppose it's the cool thing to hate what is popular in the nerd community. Anything cool has to be 'theirs' and undiscovered by the masses. Don't listen to them. This is as good as any Halo but with better visuals. So if you like Halo give it a try...unless you are an xbot who will hate it simply because it's multi-plat

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Destiny is a game really well. I love pvp I find it better than Halo even though I am a fan of Halo . Halo license is for me finished, I replaced by Destiny .

However, the scores attributed to Destiny are quite wrong as Watch Dogs I made scammed by marketing. There I had no surprises, it was exactly the game I expected.

    Positive:
    - Really balanced PvP (level 2 finish first and I had the grenade on me 22/9 ) and the gameplay is very dynamic
    - PvE ( dungeon , etc.) is short but mostly for multiplayer gaming or with her friends.
    - Communication is very well done, you do not expect players to insult you . And when a friend joins you expect vs directly , it's a real positive.
    - The life span is the longest of all fps
    - Interface and I ergonomist is made with respect to the mojorité games.
    - The character designs are very nice .
    - The environment on ps4 is very beautiful, I love watching the moon the stars.
    - The qualities I see a lot because it's my job as a designer ergonomic but I think many do not realize .
    - The Star Wars next spring much, being a fan of SW , I love the super jump and spaceship :) Light = Force

    Negative:
    - Yet it is the biggest pillar of a game except for the call of . The narration is very poor, you have little bit of immersion and cinematic in this universe yet very great.

Bungie 's mission is successful, with the FPS half MMO . Critics who do not fit the game I played .

Bungie has developed four Halo games that everyone loved and they received extremely high scores from critics. These games only had a couple of alien races as enemies. The games all consisted of tight shooting controls, great soundtracks, single player game play, cooperative game play, and competitive multiplayer. Destiny is designed to be like Halo with many more options in the hands of the players. Halo had zero character upgrade and development features. Halo did not have a loot system or armor and weapon customization like Destiny has. Halo campaigns were only around 8-12 hours long. Nobody ever complained about the length of Halo games, or the lack of story, or the lack of enemy types. Now with Destiny, everyone acts like they were promised a 100 hour RPG or MMO. What Bungie has done here is take the Halo formula we all love and added character customization, weapon and armor upgrades, a loot system and awesome matchmaking systems that allow players to group up in fireteams and play together when they want. Public events and strike missions also make exploring the over world much more enjoyable than a linear map with sandbox battles. Just like with the Halo games, Bungie has created an awesome shooter experience with more character advancement and play options than ever before. The controls are tight, the soundtrack is fantastic, and the matchmaking systems work very well for the new generation of games. All the critics need to go back and look at their very own Halo reviews, and figure out how they can possibly give Destiny a lower score when so many new options have been added. The only reasoning is that once again, everyone set their expectations way too high. Every now then you have to utilize some common sense and ask yourself about the "fun" factor. Is this game fun to play? In my opinion, it's the funnest game Bungie has ever developed, therefore I'm giving it a score that it actually deserves! Thanks Bungie, keep the content coming. Expand

    -1 point from 10/10 for:
    - mob similarity
    - predefined starting zone when you go on a patrol mission
    - main hub is kinda "meh" in design. Not bad, but not really good either

    What I loved:
    - Weapon/armor design
    - Artistic environmental design
    - Great sci-fi feeling
    - Huge locations
    - Coop with a friend is awesome

Those saying it lacks content haven't gotten past level 8-14 as the game keeps you interested by slowly revealing more and more to you as you go. The game may not live up to everyone's expectations, but frankly no game ever does, with that in mind Destiny excels in delivering a fun and involving gameplay structure which draws you in from beginning to end. Granted, this is an opinion, as is everything that follows, I personally love Destiny, it's my favorite FPS of all time, and I have played the likes of Halo, Borderlands, CoD, Battlefield, The Darkness, Half Life 2, etc. I have played Destiny for 20+ hours and still have so much I want to explore, upgrade, and play through.

That statement I made above about being involving does not quite include the story, as it is rather flat, which is a shame because it has the foundations for an amazing story, I only hope the expand upon it in another game. The beginning of the story showed much promised, louring me into the world, wondering what may occur as the story progressed, although it never quite delivers, rather it starts to fade a bit at the 1/4-1/2 mark of the campaign missions where it starts to lose it's focus and traction.

To sum up the gameplay, think the smooth and stylish aiming of Halo, with the grittier down to Earth sway and kickback of Borderlands. The admittedly aren't as many enemies as in some other games like borderlands, but there are enough to keep it as fresh as Halo was throughout it's campaign, and enough to mix up things. The 'repetition' that many refer to can be said for most any shooter really, whether you are playing Borderlands and have to constantly do 'collect these parts' missions, or 'go here, kill him, and get that' stuff. Same goes if you play Halo or any other shooter where it all comes down going there and killing that, which is really the only true repetition you get in Destiny. There will be missions where you do start at the beginning of the map, exactly where you start for the next two missions on the same planet, but frankly this isn't as bad as people make it out to be, you merely jump on your sparrow and zoom off to a usually new area of the map that you didn't get to go to in the last mission. It is literally a 1-2 minute affair. I feel the only reason people see any repetition is do to the fact that the story really does not drive you to care about what you are doing, though really if you come to enjoy the gameplay like I did then it's more than enough to inspire you. Loot, as well as it's progression is where the game thrives, along with gunplay. From the start you get weapons that you can't quite equip as it requires a (very slightly, usually 1 or 2) level up.The weapons don't have the variety of effect as Borderlands, but frankly not many FPS games can say they do, though frankly I enjoy using my Pulse Rifle or Fusion Rifle any day over Borderlands inaccurate explosive machine guns or range-drunk shotguns any day.

As I was saying with the world, it draws you in and never lets you go as you explore each world and it's crevices. The environments are HUGE, even if you don't know it, as quite often there are paths hiding secret ways deeper into the map. The first time I jumped on a sparrow heading to a new location through a secret valley was the moment I realized how much I loved Destiny. As you traverse these beautiful world you will occasionally come across others, though you never really team up with them but it give you a sense of placement.

The score and overall personality of the world is of of Destiny's great triumphs, it is easily one of the best looking games currently in existence. Note: not in a hyper realistic way, while it is detailed and the lighting and texture as generally realistic, it is fantasy styled.

Content is as follows: campaign, constant gain of new and powerful guns and armor (some armor makes you feel like an total badass), strike missions both on planet and separate (kind of like story, but harder and with a team), multiplayer (standard affair but with the twist of having fantastical abilities=fun), bounties (something that is meant to be done alongside other missions, boring if focused entirely on), as well as community events, which hopefully become more regular. The strikes and multiplayer is what will keep people busy as they are the best means of upgrading armor. The multiplayer being the main draw should be no major surprise as with Halo the multiplayer is what kept people playing for a while. That being said I have played 20 hours and just beat the story so that's pretty long.

All and all Destiny is a great, though not entirely perfect game, though should not be held back by hyped up dreams. So is Destiny worth a $60 buy, absolutely, one of the best next gen game on the market at the moment and likely to hang around for a bit.

I personally thought it was a semi-finished masterpiece. I played it for a solid weekend with two other friends. It was very entertaining and addicting, I couldn't put it down. The gameplay was fun and varied, the guns were fun and exciting to use (besides the fact that rocket launchers are **** useless). The boss battles were stressful and rewarding in the end.

The majority of people writing reviews of this game are giving it a bad review because they are comparing it to games that have nothing to do with it. Remember that Destiny is supposed to be a ten year long game full of DLC and new content. For all those people freaking out because people are giving it such a bad time understand that nobody liked Diablo 3 when it came out. In conclusion, although Destiny is lots of fun now, it will take sometime before it develops into what may be one of the greatest games of the new generation.

The game may be a bit repetetive, but it don´t really get butthurt about out - Neither should other people. The graphics are just epic. I´d really love them, killing other mobs is really fun too, but can be hard sometimes, because of the game designers just made it really pushed together sometimes. The comparison between Watch Dogs and this game is just a joke. Watch Dogs is unstable, but Destiny is extremely polished that it´s almost scary for a game. Destiny may not be big, but think about it - U.P.D.A.T.E.S. That´s what i think, too the level cap is going to be bigger at a time, it´s almost the same with any other game.
    Final Verdict:

    Destny's Pros:
    - VERY strong gameplay. smooth controls and good enemy AI (not the best, but also not Metro 2033)
    - graphics are amazingly beautiful, i love to find new armor pieces and see how i look. especially in PVP
    - loot system is abundant and yet simple. i thought its too simple to start with, but then i noticed i keep going back to inventory and switching stuff and upgrading stuff.
    - grinding is as fun as missions, i got to lvl 17 and i only finished first zone
    - awesome skill system. no skill points, just unlockable skills.
    - great class choice - only 3 classes yet their gameplay is really different - i recommend the hunter for pure awesomeness

    Destiny's cons:
    - no chat system in social planet. u cant talk to other people chatting.
    - slow loading/matchmaking. it can take up to a minute and a half to load a new planet.
    - there is no equality system in PVP. if you join as lvl 5, u have no abilities while the lvl 20 will kick your ass with abilities (doesnt mean u cant win, just annoying to see him using a lot of stuff while u can only double jump)

thats what i think of Destiny. this game is at least an 8, cant understand why people give it less.
i give it a 9 - cause no matter what - i really enjoy it.

Ignore the fake reviews. I have invested a bunch of time in to this game. I am yet to pop in another game in my disc tray, and I have a ton of games. This was definitely a good buy. The only bad thing abiut it was that the story didn't live up to my expectations. Other-wards Destiny is an unbelievably outstanding game, and I can't wait until the other events will be coming. Also the AIs get smarter if you set them to a higher difficulty, which makes the game that much more challenging. This game is really fun when you play along side friends. Also the multiplayer is pretty balanced. Here, and there though it skips frames. Not to mention the enemies are diverse.

In conclusion, Destiny is a magnificent game, but it has a couple flaws. However it's really fun nonetheless.

Generally not a FPS fan, but bought this primarily for the coop element. It also combines rudimentary RPG elements by letting your character level up which is a bonus. Graphics, speed, gameplay are pretty good, very intuitive to get into with a good controller layout. Even though I rarely play FPSs I was away taking out Fallen in no time!

Coop is optional with up to 3 friends working together, which makes missions a lot easier by letting you flank enemies. The game does adjust the difficulty of each mission dynamically though, so it's still possible on your own.

Apart from the main story mode there's also Patrol mode letting you roam a vast area taking on mini-missions, again, coop if you want. There's also a PvP mode called Crucible which I haven't tried, and afaik it's not part of the story.

Really enjoying the game so far!

A huge set of worlds to explore, great weapons to choose from, plenty of upgrades for your character. What's not to like. It's was well worth the wait but I do think some reviewers do hype themselves up far to much and go way over the top with expectation. It's a beautiful looking game and deserves all the plaudits it gets, congratulations Bungie.

Okay, this game is strangely and hugely addicting. I have NEVER played a game that it was all I wanted to play. I usually randomly rotate my games that I play to have some 'diversity.' Since I got Destiny (2 1/2 weeks ago), it's ALL I have played and I still want to keep going.

Yes, the story seems non-existent as I still don't really know what it's about. It's the RPG/MMO influences while being a FPS that grab me. The mix just works.

Generally, if a story sucks or doesn't really exist it would drive the rating down, but due to this game being a heck of a lot of fun and really addicting, I'm giving it a 9.

Anyweay, I have been playing this since midnight and I simply enjoy it. Battles are fun and hectic. Multiplayer is diverse and immersive. The worlds and locations are pretty and interesting. The RPG elements are enough to give me my own style. Enemies are fun to kill. Missions could have used a bit more variety. But what else do you want? It perfectly mixes different games in order to have its own identity.

I recommend people to not listen to certain reviews here. Some people did not research the game enough to know that it is an online, shared world shooter. The real game starts at level 20 with the raids. The multiplayer and connections with actual people is suppose to be a big element that people do not understand. Plus, this game tries to innovate the first person shooter genre in ways that people do not understand yet. I am currently giving this a 9/10 after what I have played. But I intend to give at least 100 more hours into Destiny.

One thing that players must understand, is that this game has been overhyped fro several years now. So of course it will not live up to those kind of expectations. The expectations created are unrealistic. So instead, look at what kind of game this is. This is basically and Halo-esque RPG. And it is wonderful. Being an experienced MMO player for the days of vanilla World of Warcraft, this game has great MMO checkpoints. A leveling system that keeps you wanting more. Loot that drives you to get the best items. And subtle customization that makes you spend days figuring our what you want to play.

This game lets you play one of the best designed FPSMMOs out there. You go through the story to get levels to find out what the class you picked is capable of. Or you PvP in the amazing Halo style combat. Or, for the old-school gamers, you can just grind and get higher and higher levels and just bask in the rewards of excessive grinding. This game does it all. PvP combat that has the FPS elements of skill, yet subtle changes due to weapons, gear, and level to a degree. All of them work. The balance is spectacular.

Want to roleplay? Well guess what, you are a Guardian, one of the last vestiges of a civilizations golden age. You are the champion that is protecting the one remaining city on Earth from falling into darkness. It's here. Want to PvP? Level up smoothly in the game modes that you craved for in Halo. Get new gear as you annihilate your opponents. Want to quest? Then go to story mode and listen to Peter Dinklage edpouse his wisdom. Grind in the surprising open world patrols that are offered on each planet. There is plenty to do in this game, almost a little bit for everyone.

So many people are dissatisfied that it doesn't live up to expectations. Instead, take it as it is. A game that the developers took time to be enjoyable. To make you spend hours, and realize that it is tomorrow and work in is 2 hours. A game that you can lose yourself, and remember and enjoy every moment that you spent. This game is an amazing game to play, and I hope that most of you understand that it is a cu above he rest that have released. It breathes life into the FPSRPG genre, and it cares about it. It is a game that will not be forgotten. I hope people remember this game as a genre defining staple in a stagnating marketing. Play it, and let your enjoyment be the true judge of this adventure.

...well I must say, I never expected the negative reviews to be this...abundant. But you should pay more attention to the fact that there are more positive reviews than negative on this site. And it's for good reason. No, it's not worth the extreme over-hype, but It's still VERY much worth your time. I've played it since the alpha, and it's still a good game. Pay no attention to the PC players raging because they have to wait a year, pay no attention to the people who don't have steady internet access, pay attention to people who have ACTUALLY PLAYED it, instead of spectators. I'll admit, the game didn't look all too impressive by looks, but playing it is a completely different experience. And about the whole "Halo clone" concept...it has Halo elements, and you can see it, they even used a sound effect from Halo in it, I thought of it as nostalgia. It's not COMPLETELY Borderlands + Halo, but it's a mild version of it. You level up and gain attributes to your skills like Borderlands, you can get subclasses, the environment and movement feel like Halo, as well as enemies. The story may not be much to brag about...but, in an MMOFPS with RPG elements, I'm surprised people were looking for The Last of Us-tier story-telling. It wasn't made by Telltale, so try not to expect it. Overall, this game is extremely fun, and it's certainly a treat with friends. If you want to be able to talk with people, I've been invited by strangers in levels, in other words, you can make friends relatively simply, you can even just dance next to them in town (lol).

I ran some beacon missions and yes they do get repetative, the story missions are poorly narrated, the enemies act almost exactly as I remember enemies did in halo 10 years ago, but once you get into what the game is about, coming together to overcome the odds and helping out random people, it becomes fun. Whilst patrolling I died a couple of times to find random people going out of their way to revive me back into the battle.

My only letdown is that there's no in game chat options, as when patrolling it would be nice to interact with others without having to invite them to party chat.

Otherwise I'm interested to see what is expanded upon going forward, unfortunately so many people seem intent on bashing the game because it's not what they expect it could stop people that might enjoy it from even bothering to buy.

Sure, it may not be the game for you and this is inherently what is wrong with user reviews. If you buy this game expecting a COD type shooter, you won't like it as much and you'll give it a score of 6.0 or 0 or whatever. That's not really fair to rate a game based on the wrong expectations , but hey, that's why you're not a pro game reviewer and why user reviews don't matter. That'd be like be buying a driving simulator and expecting it to be like Burnout paradise crash and blasting all out arcade action game and being disappointed when you just feel like you're driving a real car. Some people like that, some people don't, but if it's accurate to what it's intended to be, it deserves an appropriate score.

Destiny, is kind of like it's own genre, and if you play it like it's intended to be played, it's an absolute blast. It's intended to be played with actual FRIENDS with a headset so you can use strategy, such as flanking and maneuvering to defeat the enemy and complete the objective. The "legitimate" low scores (not counting the 0's, 2's, 3's because that just insulting) are just people expecting a different style of game. If you like strategy and co-operative gameplay, and have friends that do as well, you're going to LOVE this game, once you get past the couple hour learning curve. It's truly amazing. This is my first Metacritic review because this is the first time I really felt the need to explain a game being that it is "different" than what a lot of people are expecting. The voice chat is set up so you can only talk to people in your fireteam because the levels are pretty big. hearing other fireteams would make it absolutely a confusing mess. If you happen to team up with another fireteam and mesh with them, add them as a friend and add them to your fireteam, or use the group chat feature on PS4 away from the game. It's pretty damn simple. If you try to play this game alone, you won't enjoy it as much and that will affect your decision. In that case, it's not a type a game for you, but for the type of game it is, it's an amazing new experience. It's a great game and easily a 9 possibly higher once I get even more in depth into the world.

Second off I haven't played the whole game to give a full review but from what I have played I will give a review for the time being. First off with the character creation, some good and bad. Second off I haven't played the whole game to give a full review but from what I have played I will give a review for the time being. First off with the character creation, some good and bad. I wish there was more to actually create with the character looks, however the play style of the 3 classes is really nice. The three classes is based off if you want to be stealthy/kill from long range, be a "tank" and be on the front lines of the battle, and the class with the magic and firepower abilities. This makes it so you can really find a class to fit the way you like to play. Next, the game play is really good. The abilities are pretty awesome and are a lot different for each class. Your guns have a lot of different attachments you can upgrade and put on made each gun unique. Also, each weapon has different stats even if it is the same weapon it will have different stats than the same type of gun, making he loot system very random which is nice. This game is meant to be played with people with missions that suggest having multiple people to take on bosses which would be very difficult for one player, and the higher levels you go the more people they suggest for even more difficult boss battles (kind of like raids and dungeons from World of warcraft). Also people say there isn't much to do however you can free roam on the worlds to do side missions. One downside is that you can't communicate with other players unless you are in a party. This is a very rough review since i have yet to play enough to give an in depth review, however from what I have played and watched this is a very fun game with hours of gameplay. Expand

One more thing. People also complain that there is no offline mode. First off Bungie stated this from the very beginning. They said this game would be constantly online. If you have, then you knew there was no offline in the beginning so if you did not like the fact why get the game in the first place. That is like getting World of Warcraft and expecting there to be an offline mode. That being said you are NOT forced to play with anyone, you can play solo. Yes the open world environment has random players running around. But once you reach your mission location I.E. the point where you cannot respawn, then only you, or members in your fire team whom you have invited an enter that point with you. Meaning if you choose you can play completely solo. So please do not post a bad review because you are butt hurt about it not being offline, more than like you do not have play station plus so you can not even play the game. I'm not sure if i agree with that decision but it is not a dealbreaker by any means. I really enjoy peter dinklage(ghost) narrating/accompanying you throughout the story(so far, have not beat the game yet). Everything in the hunter class has handled really well in terms of combat. A lot of people have mentioned the bosses are all the same, but so far I have only encountered a few real "bosses". They are the giant characters with a lot of health... fairly unique if you ask me. The bosses seem to be used very sparingly. If i could give out of 100, i would probably go with 87-88 but for this im going 9 out of 10 Expand

Hello everyone and welcome to my Destiny review.

Destiny is the latest game from Halo series creators Bungie, which can be clearly seen in the clever level design and sharp shooting mechanics.

Although it is a hard game to categorize, Destiny can be considered a MMOFPS, as you share the world with other players but you're free to do whatever you want.

    ===========Graphics==========

Destiny is gorgeous to look at.

Bungie once again shows that they are one of the best in the world when it comes to art direction and level design.

From the desolated wasteland of Old Russia to the deserted areas of Mars (it looks a lot like Tatooine, specially when you are driving around in your Sparrow) you're presented with beautifull scenarious that you constantly amaze you, even after spending several hours with the game.

    ===========Gameplay====================

This is where Destiny excells, the sharp shooting, the inteligent enemy AI, the hard to take down bosses, all merge together to create an wonderfull experience (Bungie's 30 second heart race that keeps you coming back for more).

Even when you're just trying to cruise along, if an enemy pops out in the corner of your eye you go for it as it's just so much fun.

    ===============The Crucible===============

Destiny's PVP is a great experience, even with it's hard learning curve and early unbalanced matchmaking.

You will grow to love it with time, as you start learning how to spot your enemies quickly and how to engage and disengage in firefights.

    =====================The Story===================

Many people consider this Destiny's weakness.

The story is provided to you in loading screens and some cutscenes (that leave you wishing for more).

Although it is quite vague it sets the tone of the game and gives you the reason to shoot all those aliens in the face and come back for more.

After all, you are a Guardian, you're supposed to go on missions that help restoring the Traveller and that's exactly what you will be doing.

    ========================Verdict===================

Destiny is a great game, the mechanics are great, the vistas are gorgeous and the world is really appealing and addictive.

After you try it and start levelling up, you will want to come back for more, specially if you have some friends to enjoy it with.

Bungie said this has a 10 year life span, if my memory serves me right, Halo 2 come out in 2004 - ten years ago, ALOT has happened in the gaming industry since then and i wouldnt be surprised to see many of the current games gone within a year (MAX)

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alright, so here's my two cents;
First off, I've had the game since opening day, not night. I wasn't playing when everyone was experiencing the Server crashes, and all the other problems as they came about. However, by the time I had gotten home from work, created a character, and set off into Old Russia, I was hooked. The game has such a depth to its environment, with a depth that makes you feel insignificant and lost within the world you're exploring. It has a lot of little things that just make the game enjoyable, and beautiful. The lighting effects are amazing, as are the coinciding shadows. The fact that I saw my own shadow while crawling through a tunnel was awesome in itself. Now, the framerate from what I've noticed isn't all that bad at 30 FPS, I'd much rather have that then something that has a great set of 60 FPS and then completely drops out because there's too much going on in the world around you. Combat is great; that being said, a random spawn would be an excellent addition, rather than knowing where the enemies are gonna spawn all the time. Maybe change what spawns there too. Instead of having a moment of "okay, around this corner are 2 Thresh, 2 Knights and a Wizard, so i need to throw my grenade here and then my knife here and then a sniper shot here." In addition to that, while I know the expansion is coming out the story could have been just a tad bit longer. From what I've heard, it's about 18 hours or so for the story, but I understand that the want to have it be more of a by chapter thing, because of the Ten year plan they have in place.
Overall, definitely worth buying and playing. I know my review was kind of long winded, and I'm sorry for that. Destiny might have a few cracks, but knowing Bungie, they will definitely fix, and listen to the community, especially with something as great as this. Solid title.

Destiny is a well built game evenly balanced between open world, campaign and a sturdy multiplayer. Maybe you should know what you buy because this is what it was always going to be. And that only leaves you to blame yourself for buying a game which wasn't right for you.

This is a great game. As a stand alone co-op campaign, it probably would rate an 8-8.5 with me, but when you add in the competitive multiplayer and the fluidity between the two, it has to get a 9 or 9.5. Your character, gear, and levels move between the two. You are actually progressing no matter what you do on the game. Keep in mind, though, that there are MMO elements in here. This is not a COD campaign. There is grinding for gear and rare loot. This game is meant to play for weeks. If you hated Borderlands, there are going to be elements in this game you won't like. We all are different and people who don't enjoy the genres Destiny mashes together may not be a fan. However, this game is an 8 at least, even to people who don't love the genres. It is a very solid and expansive journey in both the PvP and PvE sectors. It's worth a buy and please disregard the 0s and 2s. They are just absurd and are the product of trolls.

It was amazing, the first time I went to the Tower, I saw two people dancing, others sitting, and I even found a soccer ball to kick around! The attention to detail is astounding. The story has been good so far, I'm at about the 4th mission, but I can see myself getting hooked in the lore of Destiny. The multiplayer is like nothing I have played before. I have played COD, but never Halo. The Sci-fi elements make it very interesting to me, whether it be the powerful guns, or the ability to lift into the air and slam down on the heads of many opponents. One thing that I didn't like was the loading time to jump into a multiplayer match, it seemed like I stared at the video of the ships flying together for far too long. Maybe that will change in the future. With all that said there is so much you can do in Destiny, I can see myself playing this with friends for a very long time.

I would fair much better, and enjoy PvP much more, if I could use my keyboard and mouse to **** on people.

    - LFG is great, but lacks in some areas. Please, Bungie, please... just make every strike and raid fall under matchmaking. You get all these folks out there that defend Nightfall, VoG, and Crota's End for not falling under matchmaking, because somehow it would make the game easier if it were? I'm sorry, but not having a job and a family to take care of doesn't make you "hard core" or make the game any more challenging to you. Matchmaking is essential for me, and many others, because I just don't have the time (or the amount of personal online friends) to start my own group or wait to join one. You don't hurt anyone by making all content LFG. Just do it.

Other than these two issues, this is the best game on current-gen consoles and is one of the best games I have ever played, period.

    Graphics:
Okay so obviously games these days arent fully polished before being released. But Destiny seems to give off that polished feel- in most levels. There are a couple (about 4-5) instances where theres broken textures or bleeding lightmaps which for a game this big is a very tiny ammount.Coming from a fellow game developers perspective its quite a hard thing to fully polish something before release and I do feel for the artists when they hear theres a couple of faults. Those who are wonderingg which console will look better I have to admit out of both of my consoles the Ps4 looked better in terms of graphics. It could just be because of the native 1080 with the playstation console but nevertheless both versions are infact very pretty.

Story: For those of you that say there is no story I'd have to give you a thumbs down its obvious that you didn't really pay attentiion to the story whilst your playing. This story is not weak by any chances it actually pulls you in I think half an hour into the game I was immersed into the story and I wanted more. There doesn't seem to be active plot holes though it would have been good to include the side missions in a little more I felt that department was lacking a tiny little bit in the story department. All up its a good story if your into that type of thing.

Playability: This is a new game new games always have server issues please be reminded of that. I think after midnight launch me and a friend were sitting playing together not talking just playing the next time I spoke was around 5 hours later even though we were in the same fireteam its a very immersive game. But I would also like to note this isnt Call of Duty nor is it WoW so when your playing it would be a good reminder of that. Of course there have been issues like: centepeide (this is a server error they are creative with names I even got a error code called cattle and sheep lol!) which they are actively fixing. I have to admit this game has some replayability too which is nice. Despite the errors this is definately replayable.

Gameplay: Before you argue about what its like take the time to also play borderlands. I think this falls under MMOFPS. Mind you compairing games is a bad thing in the first place. Gameplay is quite smooth especially with the leveling. Nothings really broken here which is nice. Though you might want to consider putting lvl20+ in thier own crucible Im sick of battling level9 and below no challenge haha.

Voicechat: I think it was a good idea that if you arent friends or in the same fireteam that you couldnt speak with other players it forces you to communicate with friends. though I did find multiplayer hard without communication I kinda just followed the pack situation. There were a couple of issues when using a headset I want to be able to lower the volume of the actual game which unfortuneately you cant.

    Verdict: 9/10

Would I reccomend?: I reccomend MMO fans to atleast give this game a try you wont be dissapointed. I don't reccomend this game if your one of those hardcore CoD fans you'll just end up **** about it on forums later.

All in all from a game developers standpoint it is a well done game and I think people should give this game a chance before dismissing it. Of course it has some flaws but all games do at least they tried to please. I'll definately be playing this game for a long time!

How can someone rip off their own game? The point is, it's a great game. However, it doesn't earn a ten. Yes, it was overhyped (ughh, I hate that word), and I know, you always have to be online, and yes, I am aware that missions aren't very fun without friends. But, those are my only complaints. Now, the story is kind of bland compared to Halo... There are a lot of clichés thrown in there and Dinklebot could have done a better job with the voiceacting and the patrol missions (easily skippable with a few pvp matches) have you retreading a lot of ground and can get a little tedious after a while.

All in all it's a solid experience, one I'm sure I'll sink enough hours into to justify buying it and then some and so far I'm not regretting getting off the fence and buying a console in time it's release.

Not only that, but it is also being reviewed relative to how it resembles other games such as Halo and Borderlands when it is clear that it is it's own game. The game is not an MMO, the hype made it seem that way through false interperetations, and Bungie never labeled this game as an MMO, just that it would take some aspects from them. This game takes it's own stab at a new type of game that takes aspects from some of the best games out there, but still manages to do its own thing. It has at least seven hours of campaign, not including strikes, but the gameplay is fluid and rewarding, and it makes you want to play for hours continuously. The game is the perfect mix of a first person shooter that integrates the single player and multiplayer almost perfectly to my liking. The game is immense although not described as that, and the customization is unique and fun to work with. The multiplayer is also one of the coolest I've played in a while, and while most people are (like IGN), it can't be rated on whether it is competitive enough. The gameplay is by almost no means repetitive until after 20 hours, having four different worlds and a good library of multiplayer maps. Granted, the game does have flaws even though they don't take away from the game and the experience Bungie wanted you to have. The story is slow, the gameplay and mood are superb, the multiplayer is fun and diverse, the sound is enjoyable and the graphics are stunning. While the game is big, it is not as big as some would expect but neither are a lot of other very important games. If the hype didn't reach such a high point, this game would score a 9 on any website period. Expand

This is my first game of such scope and genre. While I have played FPS before namely Black and Call Of Duty - this one rules in terms of both weapons, art and music. Strikes are great fun. Where Bungie fails is such: PVP is unfair for beginners like me. You just can't compete with the game studs out there. No way to talk to others except through Party via a mostly random way of getting to join others or begging. I have found some really nice guys though who have let me join along even though my play is weak still. Story line is a bit weak - but I don't buy games like this for story lines anyway and I doubt most people do. Random drops are a bit silly and it is tedious getting over lvl 20. Overall, I still think Bungie has scored a real winner with Destiny. I play every single minute I can. They also have a very cool app for smartphones. It does rule when you play with a team. 9.25 is my rating. Expand

This game is getting massive hate, but it is far from being terrible. It is a 10 year project. Try to give it some time and enjoy what we have right now. PVP is solid and the story is somewhat boring but the gameplay makes up for it.

Bungie take a step away from the action movie styled video games and made this one more of a classic game where fun and interactivity matters. The universe was familiar and believable for the most part, and it gives me hope for the future when humanity will spread across our universe and hopefully beyond. If you are interested in sci fi then you will love this. The feeling of acquiring new gear, bolstering your armor and completing bounties are quite challenging and fun, and very satisfying. The level design is truly beautiful; well-crafted excellence. and to experience a vague idea of what it'd be like to go to the Moon, Venus, and Mars, and look up at the galaxy is a one in a lifetime experience. I have been seeing a lot of negative reviews, and i think you should take them with a grain of salt, but my experience of destiny was wonderful. money well spent, i give this game a 9/10, definitely worthy of a sequel. I'm kind of sick of the "over-hyped" review. I feel like the only reason people fall into this "over-hyped" space is because they didn't take the time to look into the game before release and just imagined a revolutionary game without knowing what to really expect.

Before the game was released, I was super excited for the game, knowing that there's gonna be an fps-mmo-rpg coming. But as soon as I saw beta gameplay, I knew what Bungie was actually going for.

Now this game is no Borderlands (mainly since the story isn't as fun and charming as Borderlands storylines), but it doesn't have to be. Because instead, what they made was a very beautifully (graphically) made fps-rpg game (I've left out the mmo part because it doesnt really feel mmo-y, where you see other players, but treat them like npc's).
The gameplay is great, and the world is just beautiful. Story is... meh (but for an mmo, its up there). I definitely loved the strike missions, but it was pretty silent during the whole thing which undercuts the fun a bit.
This game is definitely a grindfest, if not for levels, for loot. But that's okay, there's always strike missions, and if you want there's multiplayer game modes.

But in conclusion, look at the game before getting it, knowing what to expect. This game is great for the most part, and just falls a little bit in others. Really wished the story was more motivating, just because its Bungie and my expectations were a little high for that. Let's hope Bungie see's their mistakes and just goes up from there.

I seriously question if some of the negative reviewers have even played the game. Perfect? I see myself running late for work, dinner etc. in the coming months because I have to see what is around the corner or down the stairway. It is addictive. The graphics are gorgeous, enemy animation is organic, although when I am at the Traveler and see my character running it looks a little stilted. Why can they not get that right? The level of detail is amazing. The sound of the firefights is spot on but the music is underwhelming. Not bad just not on the same level as the visual presentation. The fodder enemies provide a simple challenge without being pushovers, they will kill you if you are careless. Boss fights are well balanced and challenging. Mind you I am still in the early stages so I haven't encountered many but, I noticed that the attack pattern of the bosses is varied enough that I couldn't special move spam kill them. This is not a loot fest like Borderlands or WOW so if that is what you like be prepared, but you still get cool weapons and armor to upgrade. The biggest complaint that I would have is that the world seems a little empty, but not dead. There are hidden passages all over to take but the enemies inside do not scale to your level so be ready to run if you see something with ??? for levels. You will die. Short story, if you like exploring, leveling, FPS, and fun, get this game. You will not be disappointed. Expand

This game reminds me a lot of playing Diablo online with my friends, if you can get your head around that then you will truly understand what Destiny has to offer.
Let me just say the gameplay is phenomenal and there were no glitches or network errors over the last few days that I jave been playing, and trust me when I say the game truly begins after lvl 20, Well done Bungie I look

Well, Im hooked to this game. Really fun. I haven't beaten it yet, but from what I have played, It is amazing. I'll admit its not a "next gen experience", but I don't really care. But its not perfect. I really don't like how you need plus to play missions with your friends, and also there is a few missions that just feel like repeats. But other than that, Its amazing.

I find it hilarious how many 0s this game is getting. There are things that aren't perfect about every game - the difference is that Destiny is designed to be heavily and massively expanded, improved, and modified over many years. It will only improve based on feedback.

Right now, the game is extremely fun to play in a casual way, and there are very difficult options available if you're more competitive.
The game has extremely tight controls for a console shooter - especially for how mobile the player character is.
That is to say, the gameplay is rock solid 10/10

The negatives are that the netcode isn't 100% perfect. I am not fully satisfied with how the MMO aspect has been handled - but then I'm reminded that nothing of this sort has ever been attempted before by any studio at this scale.

For all of its flaws, Destiny is an extremely polished product that can appeal to a very diverse user base and will only continue to expand.

I get that fps mmo games with an rpg element arent for everyone. And yes I could pick a few faults. Lets remember killzone shadow fall was a 7 or an 8? And now everyone is telling me this isnt even as good? Ive probably put about ten hours in and its pretty much what I expect from most rpgs these days. Story isnt a big part of the game *cough cough diablo*
Most games these days focus on interactions with other gamers. This one virtually said it was about that and people are expecting a really in depth rpg with fps and engrossing storyline? This is pretty obvioisly a game about raiding with friends. Saying that I have only been running through solo. And the content and scope of the size of the game is jaw dropping. Alot of people are complaining about bosses having a high health... have you guys played a mmo game before? Plus maybe your not killing them because you have not put the time in to developing your weapons and matching armor to suit your play style? Because I know I can take down most bosses with 4 head shots maybe 5 with a sniper rifle? Love the difficulty of it. Its a fun openended game with room for expansions and development

This game is absolutely fantastic and incredibly in-depth. I don't actually know why people are reviewing it badly but me and my friends had and still have hours of enjoyment. By the reviews of the user reviews your saying that you had an equal amount of enjoyment in playing this game as Madden NFL 15. How?

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
