    This is the worst game I have ever played, don't buy this junk. This DLC adds hardly any content, all Bungie has done is raised the max light level to force its players to keep grinding over and over for little reward.     Terrible game, no content whatsoever just a repetitive grind planning to sell dlc for ever. Everytime you accomplish a goal, they just add new things in for you to grind your way to.

    It was fun for about 30 minutes, then it became a cookie cutter... BORING! Then the Playstation network went down for and has been down now for 3 days now with no ETA on when it will come back up and I cannot play!

    Pay to Win is a past phenomenon. With Destiny Bungie and Activision introduced a new concept of Pay to Play. Thats right, you have to pay for the 9.51MB DLC to play Nightfall or Heroic Strikes which makes me question if its too hard to provide an alternative strike for non-DLC players.

    This is a dangerous precedent set by greddy corporates.

Borderlands 2 has a good story with funny writing, Destiny doesn't. Borderlands has a poop ton of unique weapons with a balanced loot system, Destiny doesn't.     I get the appeal of Destiny to the younger crowd as kids can practically do the same thing over and over without missing beat and I'm pretty sure the entire fanbase of Destiny consists of tweens. If you were born in the 20th century though chances are you, like me, cannot be bothered to play through a game that makes *everything* a chore. That's exactly how I would describe this game: a chore.

    While do admit there is fun to be had if you play with friends (you have fun with friends regardless,) the single player aspect of this game is just horrible. The story? I can summarize it all in a sentence. You get awoken from a deep sleep in the middle of nowhere by a Dinklebot, you get attacked by generic sci-fi alien race, you go to generic sci-fi homeworld, you meet generic sci-fi wise old guy, you get sent on a generic quest across the galaxy for... what exactly? And why?? I seriously don't know... I've played through the "story" on 3 characters already and I still don't know what the story is to be honest. There is literally only 4 characters in this game and NONE of them are memorable: Old Guy at Tower, Robot Chick that Stalks You, The Queen and her dick brother.

    I had every intention of leaving a complete breakdown of what I personally found wrong and right with this game from an old fps gamer. But the more I tried to figure out what was happening, the more confused I was.

    This trash is nothing but frustration and confusion with a side of anger. No walk through to actually tell you what's going on. Storyline is well... I don't know what the story is. Gameplay consists of wandering around trying to figure out what the heck your suppose to do and some shooting at things for reasons I have yet to understand. No clue what the objectives are, how to level, how to progress or any understanding what the point of this "game" is.

    If you are unfortunate enough to buy this garbage, try and find a HUGE guide to help you. I have played for a few hours and literally have no clue how or why to do a single thing. News flash for devs... Confusion is not fun and games are suppose to be fun. A guide should be used as a reference not as a step by step instruction on what to do and that's what you need to figure this out. Complete failure of a game.

    I'm sure that once you figure this out that is ok but to play (feels like work) for hours and to still have no clue about ANYTHING? Well that's just a failure by the devs.

    On another note, I went on their website to get help and their website is as awful as their game. Couldn't find any help what so ever! They don't even give you a way to contact them. No working email or anything. It's like they new they were putting out a game that was going to ANGER the FPS community and they didn't want to have to deal with it.

    Best review I can give is..... Incomplete. I can't effectively review a game that I can't figure out. Complete failure! I'm offended I spent money on this and if I had the option I would return it with a smile and never look back. Never felt like this with any game in my long life.    … Expand

The game is not innovative at all and is filled with the most bland and repetitive game play. There is hardly any story at all whatsoever, the loot system is 100% RNG (random number generator), and is hardly acceptable as a MMO. There are huge and painful limits as to how many players can do a mission. Now to the weapons (sorry if you don't understand this). The weapons in this game are a creative idea, but all the creativity is lost when you find out that the higher level weapons are just re-skins of the lower level ones. Also, the exotics in the game are the hardest weapons to get which means they should be OP, but people kept complaining at how OP they were so they got nerfed and are rendered useless. People claim the game is getting better with the DLCs that are being released, but it really just adds to the repetitive mess of doing the same thing over and over and over again 1000 time sin one week. Over all, the game is an absolute effortless waste of time and money. I personally spent a lot of time on this game looking for something good about it, but I couldn't find anything.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me preface this all by saying I love the grind and generally don't care for FPS games as I'm only decent, not stellar at them.
    For people that are on the fence and thinking about getting into this game as I was a month ago do not waste the money but more importantly the time. This is my first review I've ever written and I'm 29, thats how strongly I felt about this game. The amount of time required to get any of the good stuff in the game is truly prodigious. Its the same stuff over and over and even with the fix of the massive loot drop system problems, which seemed either amateur-ish or ill intended, you get the same terrible things over and over and over. Rare engrams drop a common item 98% of the time, which really drives home the point that I'm wasting my time playing.
    DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYBODY who tells you its possible to beat this game and its various challenges, or raids without a strike-team of 6, which do not provide matchmaking. I got to a light level of 291 and I still wasn't able to beat a mission that had a light level requirement of 260 that not even a friend of mine with a light level 305 and I put together could beat. All that effort would be for 5 motes of light, an item you get in lieu of xp at certain level cap, hooray.
    Theres a tacked on collectibles sidequest component during strike and raid missions so being a jerk and running off is a requirement in this game, thumbs down.
    The behavioral RNG thing is a factor here as well. Translation, this game requires an addictive personality to enjoy and continue playing. That's not a good thing.

    People who say the graphics are great must require glasses. The lighting effects and amount of things moving around in the environment are the only thing remotely next-gen about this game. The clouds are ridiculously off theme and seems like they don't belong. Otherwise lots of loading between areas, wow; tons and tons of clipping(I have a ps4, which has the good frame rate of the systems), but sound is nice...
    The derth of content means you realize the game's limitations in one hour of play. Running around and shooting stuff in the head is awesome and fun for a few days but since theres not much of a story at all with a ton of questions and lots and lots of things vaguely referenced and never fleshed out, the compulsive addicting aspect becomes requisite almost immediately.
    PVP is also a requirement of the game of the game to get decent gear, no matter what I'm not ever gonna beat the 12 year olds who don't do sports or activities and thus have a ton of free time. My 30 some year old friend has played countless hours and again, has a light level only 15 or so above my own.
    All in all this is completely in my humble opinion of course. What do I know but what I like and what I absolutely abhor. Obviously Destiny and all of its terrible offspring are in the latter category and should be drowned in public to the worldwide cheers of spectators that have tuned in for the demise and eventual fading of the memory of Destiny    … Expand

    This is a awful game. don't play it. it has barely any substance and the RNG ( random number generator ) is terrible. you have to grind for days to get the equipment you want and the there should be better matchmaking, especially for MMO's like this. the entire game is horrible garbage. don't buy it. EVER!

    I've never been more disappointed in a game that promised so much. And after the subsequent DLC rendered vanilla destiny unplayable... I kind lost any respect I have for Bungie and Activision who were previously my two favorite developers. It sets a terrible precedent for game making that you can massively under-deliver and coast on pre-orders, then pull content out from underneath the day one adopters unless they continue to buy up.     My main reaction to this game is the frustration of seeing how much missed potential there is for the franchise. There is so much more that Bungie can be doing with Destiny, and I was hoping they'd hit the nail on some of them with D2, but alas it's not the case. It's like no one at Bungie plays any MMOs that have really well designed customization and progression systems.

    Just to clarify: I am a network engineer in my day-job, so the network setup in my home is no problem.
    After wasting my weekend with troubleshooting (and adding port-forwarding ... etc.), I finally hooked up my PS4 directly to my cable-modem as only device with Internet so it can do whatever it wants to ... and it still says "marionberry" - no connection. I cannot    What a piece of junk!
    Just to clarify: I am a network engineer in my day-job, so the network setup in my home is no problem.

    During my troubleshooting I saw others have similar issues where it does not work on their home-Internet-connection, but at a neighbor it works. Other had to change their DNS-servers to make it work ... and so on. Needless to say, I tried all of those suggestions as well - to no avail.
    What game needs tweaking with DNS-servers to make it work??? I only see issues like that with crappy written/ implemented software at my job.
    Save your money (and time of troubleshooting) and don't spend it on this junk (I would rather call it "time waster" and not "game").    … Expand

    I was excited to jump back into the game after 8 years and wanted to play the expansions I never did back in the day. I paid €60 only to find out that the game is unplayable for "new" players who bought the game this year around januari and beyond. These people get a "chicken" errorand will get booted back to the main menu.     Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
