    Update: After reaching Level 21 and putting 17 hours into it, I can say that Destiny is a solid 8/10, Sure the campaign is lacking, and for a game with such an online focus it's quite odd for it to not have an easy way to interact with other players in the tower. But the top notch gameplay, with fun mechanics, and smart AI more than make up for the flaws it has.     Although not a traditional MMO its loads of fun with your buddies. DO NO TRY TO PLAY THIS ALONE OR SOLO YOU WILL GET BORED FAST. But if you can get a group of friends its an amazing game.

    I was never a Halo kind or really big into shooters, but Destiny has me hooked. I can't say I have the complaint of not enough content. Patrol missions are a lot of fun and can be challenging. The Crucible, while brutal for lower levels, has to be the most fun I've had with a game in a while. I know there are some complaints about chat, but I'm fine not hearing all the randomness thatI was never a Halo kind or really big into shooters, but Destiny has me hooked.     i like how you could drive a ship in close to like halo but has more stuff u could ride like atv ,tanks ,etc .really fun shooter and create ur own player but choose titan has alot of armor hunter speed and stealth warlock is like ur basic powerful player but just to be safe choose all three

    One word - great. Why? So, beautful graphics, awsome gameplay and good price. I think, that's one of the best games of 2014. Maybe Game of The Year? ;)

    I really enjoyed the pvp experience, the crucible, I can see a lot of hours going into this. My brief experience so far on single player , I've noticed some areas with very strong enemies that I would come back to in future so there's definitely some    I'm shaking my head at all the hate destiny's been getting.     Destiny is not really the revolutionary FPS we were waiting for, but it is still a good one.Destiny is a massive and extremely polished MMOFPS that really satisfies a lot of my gaming desires.. The shooting feels very "Halo" and the RPG customization is definitely there. Fighting can be tactical and hectic, but never truly unfair.

    First hour or two hours should be thrown away from the game - they are waste. Everything after this is just an awesome combination of proper shooting mechanic (Halo-like, but not kind) and MMO elements.

    No. It does not suck.

    Even if you dont like it, it isnt justified to give this game a 0/10. I also think, that the content isnt enough and the voice chat is missing but the gameplay is fun and the look is amazing. I would rate it 8/10, but since i want to balance out the missleading score i go for 10/10.

    Loads of fun, decent ramp-up, a whole new universe of gaming goodness. Not sure what the hate is about with the zeros...maybe people are looking for a religion instead of a really fun, immersive experience. Get over your issues boys and girls; it's awesome.

    This is an exellent online experience. Shooter mechanic is great. It is very easy to understand and play, not like usual MMOs where you need to learn a lot how to play.Just try it - and better with friends - and you will get it.

    I like this game. It is not what I or anyone else expected, but it is still a very good game. The missions are a bit linear and not as open as one would expect, but the game is fun to play and multiplayer is really fun. Reminds me of the old Unreal Tournament. Big open world, not huge as it was said. Very good skill system and loot. Lots of weapons and armour that make you look bad-ass. DoI like this game. It is not what I or anyone else expected, but it is still a very good game.     I come to the game without any Expectation, Tell the truth-I did not follow the game until two days ago.
    didn't play beta,so i come to the game today clean from any point of view.
    so far i love the game,the true fun is with friends! or even meet people in the game and join them to the party and play.

    I played the game and is very good, competitive coop etc. The graphics are beautiful the weather is beautiful and team play is very funny epic launch.

    Ignore the people who say that the game is **** just because you can't play offline, these games are supposed to played online, if you enjoy Halo, then this is the type of game you should play i think the best parts of the game are the multiplayer and boosfighting feature, although allot of games have that feature, this game is abit more awesome. Its a new breed of FPS. Anyways, it's awesome!!!

    This game is so bad it doesn't even Mario Party. Like that is just so dumb. It doesn't even have Sega Genesis compatibility. Like come on people, that is the very basic. Anyone who buys this game is a noobscrub.

    The gameplay and controls feel excellent. I really enjoy the game. If you liked the Beta, you have to buy this game. I have total confidence in Bungie that they will continue to support this new IP and bring new stuffs to the game every now and then.

    Destiny looks like potential GOTY in this year, not cause her opponents are crap, just cause Destiny have finest multiplayer gameplay, perfect graphics and beatiful music. I really want play it as long as i can.

    This is the same thing that happened to GTA V. People dont like hype for some reason and like to see great games fall. This game is nothing short of spectacular. DO NOT use metacritics for this point in time. Give it about a week and the score will go up. Just so many Douches these days thay feel like spamming the reviews.

    Terrible game. Played it for a bit and it was pretty bland. Nothing like borderlands which at least had some humor. The planetary missions are short and the gear is generic and unintuitive. Day 1 return.

    I don't really get the bad critics. This game was all it promised: 3 guys game (better with friends), classes and weapons. that's all, the story is "there", you are just living that moment. If you expected anything else, you didn't see reviews or trailers about this game. Poor hyped kids.

    The loot system is pretty standard for an RPG with that addition of locked attritubtes that you can unlock by upgrading the gear. You use items you find while playing to upgrade the gear so combat is rewarding for more than just exp.

    Yes, there are a limit amount of gun TYPES, but that doesnt mean there are a limited amount of guns. I used a sniper playing as a Hunter and I have 3 rifles that all act in dramtically different ways.

    The story I feel is eclipsed by the gameplay itself. The game as definitely made with long term play in mind, and the story more gives you a frame of reference but its not so linear that its all you are doing.

    I give this a 10/10 because it hit all the criteria i was lookign for in a next gen MMO RPG. There are things i would like to see, and that i expect to see in the coming patches/expansions, but even as it sits currently its a great game with a great future.    … Expand

    I don't understand why so many people are mad about the poor story line in the game. The story is nothing to write home about, but at the same time I feel like they did it just right.The lore of the world is there if you want to find it, but otherwise the focus is entirely on the game-play. There isn't some complicated nonsense being shoved down your throat at all times so you can focus on what a video game should be about, the gameplay.

    The shooting mechanics are spot on, although the missions will get repetitive. There is mainly one type of mission... Go to this point, deploy ghost, fight off enemy waves. And as for the end game, if you are not a fan of grinding the same instances for gear DO NOT buy this game or you will not have fun (unless the competitive multiplayer interests you of course).

    Pros: Beautiful game, great shooting mechanics (That is what the game is all about of course) and awesome loot system.

    Cons: Lack of character development, HORRID loading times, Tons of grinding and a disappointingly short story campaign (needs more planets).

    Overall I would give this game an 7/10. It is a good game, but it has its issues. Everyone who calls this out as over-hyped obviously knows nothing about marketing for a company... I would say that after more content has been released the reviews and opinions for this game will change. As of right now, Destiny is a solid foundation that needs some building on before it will be what it strives to be.

    PS: I rated the game a 7/10 but gave it a 10/10 on the site simply to spite of all the negative reviews that lack any sense of constructive criticism.    … Expand

    Short version of this is the game is great and might start off slow but picks up and gets even better the further you go. It's a great game and even better when playing with 1 or 2 friends. (note if you play with 3 people make sure to pick the harder difficulty on missions. or else it does seem easy)

    This game is amazing and is especially amazing when playing with friends. Played the beta nonstop while it was out and still I'm having fun while playing the same spots now.

    The beta was basically the early levels of Earth. They left nothing out so the first hours of the game are going to be the same if you played the beta. But the game is a lot of fun and can't wait to get to the end game content. currently level 14 and on the moon. still have 2 unexplored planets, and a lot of stuff that i need to unlock and upgrade.

    So far I've played for 15 hours and some was just collecting money and finding remaining ghosts that are hidden around the maps. The people who played the first 3-5 hours and are complaining that the game sucks obviously didn't play the beta which would of let them know if they would like the game.

    Also the petty reasons they gave a low score are astounding. No voice chat? that can be patched in later if people really want it.. Lacking in guns? well there aren't a billion weapons while you are leveling up and there might be in endgame 3-4 guns in each category that are BiS doesn't mean that the game sucks xD. I've gone through tons of guns before I find the type I like. its like borderlands where there are different brands of a semi-auto rifle and each has a different balance to it. one like jacobs has high impact (damage) but lower magazine and more recoil and slower fire rate. different elements on the guns also change the gun as well.

    And while the abilities are lacking in variety per subclass you get two per class at this time. So switching back and forth will also change up your gameplay.

    So far me and my friends are having a blast playing and i cant wait to get back into the pvp once i hit 20. And cant wait to play the end game.    … Expand

    Repetitive, tedious, and simply just boring. Way too many loading screens, social aspect is hardly to be seen. Overall, there really isn't much to do. You're given 4 planets, each having a few missions. Shouldn't have bought into the hype.

    One of the best shooters I've played. The customization options are great. PVP is amazing and fast paced. It's a great game to just pick up and jump into. It feels like a no grind mmo. Strikes are amazing and very rewarding. You can even scale them for the more experienced player! This is a great game for anyone who loves shooters but is just tired of the same old thing.     It's great.

    If you think it's boring, stop playing on normal. Crank the difficulty before you drop from orbit! It plays much more like Halo on Heroic that way (i.e. smarter AI!)

    I don't know... it's overhyped, you can't really communicate with anyone apart from dancing in front of them, it's locked at 30 fps because it would be "unfair" to the other systems to have it at 60, you can win any situation even at hard difficulty by backing up a little bit and the enemies will retreat and the whole game is as repetitive as a game can get.

    But boy, do I love it.

    It is a very pretty, and fun game. I see a lot of people who thought it was going to be this or that, and don't like it because it doesn't fit their specific expectations.

    I would play this game if you enjoy having a good time shooting things with your friends.

    I would avoid this game if you hate fun.

    I cannot believe IRONDUKE doesn't love this game. This has been the next gen experience. These trolls need to knock it off. The game hasn't even been out for 24 hours. Go review ME3.

    It's just an amazing game and I really don't regret this purchase. Usually I am not into FPS but I decided to try this game and the background is interesting and the co-op is great.

    Destiny is a very good game. In my opinion, it's the best game on next-gen. Why is everybody hating on it?? COD fan boys...... In Destiny, there are a variety of things to do. From exploration to the crucible, there's never a dull moment. I'm very happy to see this game out now. I love it!

    The game was AWESOME. I don't know why but I like it. I really enjoy the game, a perfect mix of bossfighting, freeroam, loot and competitive multiplayer. If you enjoy games like borderlands, halo, and call of duty its perfect for you!

    I really enjoy the game. It uses so many forms of combat. The game is polished and I haven't seen any bugs yet. The story i thought was very detailed. All in all a great game

    The best game I played on next gen. Moreover, the best mmo fps I have ever seen. Really enjoy the game with so big and interesting world. And in cooperation with friend you get 2 times more fun

    Really addicting gameplay and everything just works. Graphics and all the effects look very nice. Lots of different game modes and what's best is that the whole game is playable with up to 3 friends.

    Great game. Can not believe people are giving it less that 6/10.. even if you don't like the lack or story, the multiplayer aspect of the game is definitely up there with the best (Halo, COD..). I think all the hype has made people extra critical.

    After being lost in good fps games ever since Bungie departed from the Halo series I have become playing Destiny almost non-stop since it launched. The story so far has been gripping and the Grimoire cards hold secrets to the lore of the Destiny universe that you wont find anywhere else.     several days playing destiny and i still give it an score of 10.online matches are a blast,haven't played

    all the single player yet . still cant figure out the negative scores aaa game in my book!!!!!

    it is a great game specially if you have friends. the controls feels nice and tight and the graphics are pretty clean. it has 3 awesome class to choose from with very deep customization definitely a lot better on next when compared to ps3/360..

    Great game. It is what it is. Nothing more nothing less. You will either like the game or you won't. It has a lot of elements from a lot of games , and does a very good job of bringing them together. No major issues at launch and a great. Game to play solo or with a friend. You can adjust the difficulty to make it more challenging if you need to. I highly recommend it. But it is not for everyone.

    Great game, with a desire to be one of a kind. Forget the bad and salty reviews, this game hits on all cylinders and excels. The controls are great the physics are bang on, and the whole game is a trill ride so far (currently level 18)

The beautifully designed levels allow for the ability to snipe from far or run in guns blazing. The ability to call in a land speeder (Sparrow) at the press of a button, then jolt off and triple jump up to a ledge to surprise an unsuspecting enemy allows for the "Unreal Tournament" speed orientated game play some people prefer. The numerous obstacles and hideaway coves allow for the sneaky sniper to duck out of the way and take enemies from afar. The flawless blend from multi-player to single player and vice versa make the game seem to have it all. It may be aesthetic, but the "Orbit mode" mode/level selection is really what creates this flawless blend.

    I was suspecting there would be a terribly awful amount of server lag and countless problems with the initial week or so until everyone settled down. I was pleasantly surprised, there were no issues at all! A little bit of waiting time, but nothing to really even take notice of. Bungie/Activision has really set the bar for other games considering the amount of sales they had. No more excuses for day 1 lag or server overload, especially considering there isn't a monthly fee and the ENTIRE game is online.

    Overall this game is great, it TOUCHES all aspects perfectly. It may not be as in depth with character customization as Skyrim, it may not be as open world and exporable as GTA V, it may not have the weapon and power options of WoW, it may not have the number of weapons as Borderlands, or the multiplayer FPS of halo (Although it's CLOSE here) but it blends all of these perfectly to appeal to every audience. It is not a Halo clone and it is not an MMO, sorry fanboys. It gave everything it promised and delivered an experience that should keep me busy for a long time, especially considering the DLC and updates we know it will have in the near future.    … Expand

    The game is awesome. A lot of customisation and a lot of features. It is a real pleasure to play with friends. The controls are perfect and pretty easy to learn. Highly recommended for any type of PS4 players.

    Honestly I think the game is a solid 8, but because of these ridiculous 0 and 1 reviews Im going to rate it a 10. Try being objective. Im not sure if its the Bungie betrayed us crowd or concerned CoD fanboys but rating this or any game 0 or 1 is just dumb.

The gameplay itself is an awesome blend of Halo and Borderlands, the exploration, story and strike modes are awesome, and the multiplayer aspect here is great, with other players wandering in and out of your adventures, but due to the way the game is designed, the only way other players can effect your game is positively, they can't attack you or steal items from you, only help you wipe out a particularly rough enemy or lead the way to a new area originally unknown to you. If you want to smash other players heads in of course there's always the crucible, which is the player vs player multiplayer aspect and has all the traditional fixins from deathmatch to capture the flag and control. The story is in depth and interesting, and has the occasional out of left field gameplay (the sword of crota mission is unreal).

    There are more than enough things to do in the game that it is a solid investment, and whether you want to be social or play like a lone wolf, you can do both seamlessly (though the strikes and raids will auto match you up with other players because alone they're legitimately almost impossible). The game, however, needs to be constantly online, so whether you want to play alone or with friends, it works in a similiar vein as world of warcraft, where the world is shared with everyone.

    All in all the game scores a perfect 10 out of me, the only gripe I have is Peter Dinklage not being a very good voice over artist. If you buy one more game all year, please make it this one. Hope I see you online.    … Expand

    Destiny is an absolute hoot. Have had a blast playing it and look forward to playing it for HOURS over the next couple days! I love the movement mechanics that this game brings. I think that character movement is so important in a shooter.

    I've played over 10 hours and the game is amazing. BSO amazing, beautiful world, very good gameplay. Remember this is not a Halo or Borderlands. I give it a 10 because many people have put up a 0 and this is impossible. But I think the game with 9 would be a correct score.

The expansion sets are what really bring the game up to the level that people think a game like this should start out at.     Look AMAZING, espacially the science fiction setting is FANTASTIC!
    The story just opened the first chapter and it is very deep and lets many questions open.

It is a singleplayer game that you will never play alone (I know, I know, let me explain) and here's why – you can always focus on your own objectives, being a lone wolf and everything, other players on the map would act pretty much like background without interrupting your gameplay. I mean yes, probably a couple times you would end up exterminating same pack of enemies as someone else, but here's where Bungie's signature move kicks in – it's huge, the locations are so big you can always get away from other players and mind your own business, there is enough fun for everyone. The game doesn't burden you with 50+ times leveling up, you reach the cap relatively quick and instead focus on switching skills and subclasses on the fly. Not to mention that the game is really well-balanced.

    Despite everything I said in the first paragraph, as a guy who always runs alone in almost every multiplayer game, I must urge you to find a teammate. Just one is already enough, but the more – the merrier. Bungie games always open up from a different side when you play it with someone (especially if you play with that person constantly) – you deal with missions easier (although enemies become harder and the loot dropped gets better), you fool around, have some laughs and generally have a lot of fun.

    Then there is Crucible. Everything you did in the campaign, all your skills, your weapons and equipment – you keep it and take it to competitive multiplayer, which feels like a blend between CoD and Halo (in a good way). You still level up there and get new loot, everything you get in Crucible transfers to singleplayer and vice versa.
    It's a great game to kickstart a new generation and definitely an ambitious project not to be missed.    … Expand

    All these haters probably haven't played far enough into the game to really see what this game has to offer and the massive potential. This game is awesome! Customization characters, different classes for you and your friends to play through with, and boss battles that bring me back to the N64. I will be putting 1,000 hours easily into this monster. gl; hf gg

    Wonderful game that may not be for everyone. Personally I love sci if genres so I'm having a blast with this game. Only problem is if no Internet you can't play. But that's not the games problem it's mine. This is not a review rather a opinion. Pick it up and give it a try!

    Destiny is a highly polished next gen MMOFPS. There are many different maps and each one you are able to explore to your hearts content. The two cons I've found are the unbalanced classes and Peter Dinklage's mediocre I-didn't-even-try voice acting

    My very first PS4 game. i did not check youtube videos for this before release, so my expectations was very high. i played this game for 2 days now and i am really amazed of this game. i play both single and multiplayer with friends and we all are having so much fun! so much to explore and kill - i will give this 10/10.

    I've loved this game from the alpha onwards and look forward to it expanding and becoming a fanchise to rival all other AAA titles out there.

There is a staging place Destiny refers to as 'Orbit' and to get to any playable are you have to go through 'Orbit' requiring two separate loads instead of just one if you were to go straight to the playable area. Aside from this the mechanics, graphics, story, and all other pieces have come together exceptionally to form a well-balanced mixture of simple MMO with FPS. If you are expecting a full blown MMO then this is not the game for you. If you like simple MMO and a well crafted FPS then you will be in heaven. I think intense MMO gamers are ridiculing this game with ridiculous expectations. Bungie and Activision were not out to design a full-blown MMO. They created this game with the intent to bridge that gap between FPS and MMO and they NAILED IT!!!!!! Well done guys! I am impressed and will DEFINITELY recommend to others.… Expand

    Bungie has done it again with an astonishing new IP. Everything feels right Destiny and I couldn't be more happier. The environments look stunning and the gameplay is fun and comfortable. I am excited to see where this franchise goes.

    First off I never liked Halo, but I just got done playing at least 20 hours of this game and I love it! Why are all these weird losers who never played the game giving it a zero. I forgot what it's like to be a angry teenager that has to take his life problems out on a video game. Go outside and stop being so angry, it's not a big deal you don't like a video game.

    This is probably something you need to experience rather than reading up on, Reviewers are either just idiots, or not getting the big picture, fans that are enjoying the game are still probably too busy playing it to give their 2 cents and the players that aren't seem to be the ones who have teamed up with other idiots, calling a mojority of strike missions a "1 hour grind for minimal reward", i'm not an FPS champion or anything, but if you can't complete a strike mission in under 15-25 minutes, you might want to rethink how your fireteam is approaching it.

    Even one well-known review site loved to rant about how how the landscapes were unimaginative, dull and lifeless, whereas i'm onboard with the others who agree it's the best i have ever seen. I'm in awe from the moment i touch down on every planet, too busy marvelling at every vista as an optimal sniper's nest and wondering if i'll ever be able to access that leviathan-sized ship in the distance one day on Venus which brought back that Mount Hyjal nostalgia in Vanilla WoW. Hell, if i'm waiting for my fireteam to come online, i even just sit on the tower ledge, looking at the city under the traveller - remincent of Coruscant, thinkin' bout life and stuff.

    Anyway, i'm loving every aspect of it, so i'll just throw in the only negative, the story. a bit too short and vague in terms of whats really going on, i won't give any spoilers, but i felt there were alot of peices missing and feeling a bit guilty being ceremoniously congratulated for minimal effort in story missions in contrast to the more diffucult strike missions. I was told in the last cutscene basically "the fights not over, the war has just begun...blahh..blahh.." - i thought, f***, i should hope so! Wether that was intentional for Bungie to not give too much detail away this early, time will tell. I'll be optimistic and suspect these first baby-steps into the game was more intended for us to soak in the serenity and feel of the game on a happier mood, ignorant to the darker details going on behind the scenes of the Destiny Universe to come.

    Still slugging away at hard mode strikes, story missions and bounties in crucible, It's been done before numerous times, but i'd never known a grind to be this enjoyable, One thing i love, love, love about this game is during Boss encounters on strikes - each time i play with new people, they share their own different insight on how to approach the encounter either through instruction or by example to the point that there is countless ways to effectively handle a fight with more freedom to take on whatever role you like, a breath of fresh air from the predictability and repetition on other MMO boss fights.

    This is just my opinion on observation, but there is a nice holy-trinity that is becoming quite effective in encounters which isn't neccesarily class-biased: The Kiter/Tank - The Reviver/Sniper - The Crowd Controller. You will find in a good group, all 3 in your fireteam will adopt these roles and remarkably change on variable situations such as ammo runs, player deaths and aggro.     Overall, I've enjoyed my time with Destiny. While the story was good, it failed to explain a lot of the background and instead left them for the grimoire cards seen on game's website. Gameplay wise, it's a wonderful game. It nails the shooting and level progression right on, and while after level 20 it can get a bit grindy, that's somewhat to be expected of loot collection based rpgs likeOverall, I've enjoyed my time with Destiny. As for the PvP, I personally only liked the Control game mode, but that doesn't mean the other three modes aren't good, they're actually quite well done and are on par with other games, like Halo and so on though I really wish there were more PvP game modes. Honestly, it's worth the 60 dollars , give it a try and don't listen to some of these 2 scores, these people seem to have had the completely wrong idea about what the game was and are now hurting it's score because of their expectations. However, I do agree that it lacks voice chat in PvP but from my experience in the parts where you can use voice chat (in strikes where you're in fireteams) no one ever uses them anyway, at least on the PS4. Oh and I almost forgot, the graphics are superb, being a PC gamer, this game looked on part with a lot of recent PC games on the PS4.… Expand

    What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

    Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
