I was also impressed with some of the new weapon customizations, which werent as elaborate in some areas as Black Ops, but still great. The new multiplayer game modes are a welcomed addition to say the least. I did find that there were some "glitches" with certain things , such as the knifing, but its still overall extremely fluid. The story mode was fun to play through and quite interesting to see it all come together from the beginning to now . My only gripe is that the story mode was extremely short, between 3.5 to 4 hours depending on how you play. But lets face it, who buys a Call of Duty game anymore for the story ? Everything now is multiplayer, which is why I was so pleased with the story that they did do. Even on a primarily multiplayer game , they still took the time and energy to put together a great story, which I appreciate. So far the maps on multiplayer are decent, but nothing to thrill about. I definately look forward to the map packs to see what else they add to it all. Overall I love the game, with only a few shortcomings its definately another great leap forward in the COD progression. If your looking for more of a realistic shooter or a more tactical one then you may want to look elsewhere such as Battlefield 3. But where MW3 lacks in realism it massively advances in fun, you can end up playing hours on end when your battling with your friends and the controls are easy to pick up but multiplayer may take a bit of practice before you start to hit the high killstreaks. Overall its a fun game, easy to play and one the best shooters on the market. You won't be disappointing. Expand

if you feel differently, please let me know why. i love talking about games and i love making them. A good game designer plays good and bad games, but can explain why they are good or bad.

Every player can succeed and get all sorts of rewards and progressions to keep them coming back. I would've liked to have seen more of an improvement in graphics (which is where BF3 takes the cake hands down), but if you liked MW2 then you'll love this game. With all the new customizations, new maps, and new killstreak rewards attainable by all types of players, this game is great and I'd totally suggest it to anyone who likes FPS games. Expand

Like many people I was worried about how MW3 would fare given that Infinity Ward practically remains itself in name only now and because they brought in Sledgehammer, a company I have never heard of, to help finish it up in time. In fact, I hadn't even planned on getting the game until I bought Battlefield 3 and was so horribly disappointed that I had to see if I could get my shooter fix from MW3.
Before I begin I should state that I play CoD for the multiplayer. The only CoD campaign I finished was that of the first MW, so my review is based on that aspect, not the campaign (though I have played a bit of the campaign and it looks like I might finish another one.) At the outset I was disappointed in MW3. The maps seemed convoluted and poorly designed, with no open areas and nothing but corridors. Even using the theatre mode to fly through the maps didn't give me the "oh I get it now" feeling that I got from doing that in Black Ops. I instantly chalked it up to a bunch of noob game designers aping Infinity Ward and failing miserably to catch the feel of their level designs and I was crestfallen. How could both shooters have been such disappointments? Nevertheless, I stuck with it and before long, something clicked. I can't tell you what it was, but suddenly maps started making sense, it felt very much like CoD, and I started bagging more kills than I ever have in CoD matches. (I really do suck at these games.) The addition of Kill Confirmed is fantastic. I've never played a shooter that did so well at forcing team members to act like they were a team (and by the way, why aren't more of you playing this mode??? There is something wrong with you.) On top of that having three options for killstreak rewards is EXACTLY what I've been wanting since I started playing these games. Finally, people who have lives outside of CoD can actually earn a killstreak reward. Now that I've learned some of the maps and I'm building classes that I enjoy this game feels very much like a proper successor to the first two MW's; the new IW and Sledgehammer did very well. There are some issues (at least with the PS3) that need to be worked out, such as the occasional game breaking lag, and connection issues during matchmaking. But these are all things that can be patched at a later date. Overall, this is a good game and, though I never thought I would be saying this, it is the clear winner in the MW3/Battlefield 3 match up. If you're on the fence, buy it. I suspect most of these poor reviews are just Battlefield trolls. There is just simply no way that every professional reviewer is wrong. The real MW fans are playing MW3, not writing bad reviews online.

I see it as an upgrade to MW2 with additional options and map packs. If the graphics were different than MW2 then their would have been less complains. I am experiencing some problems connecting to friends in private match and i'm not sure if you can connect to friends in spec ops, but that is saying unable to join session also. In MW2 and Black Ops this is working fine in private matches so I'm thinking it's a mw3 issue that will get resolved in a patch. We'll see.. when I started playing just after the midnight release, there were a few connection issues, but they were intermittent and made me have to click find match a couple of extra times. Compared to the problems that black ops had when it was release, MW3's connection issues were mild. Overall I see it as a successfull release with some updates needing to be sent out. Expand

This hasn't hurt CoD in the slightest, and MW3 is going to be a huge hit. And it deserves to. Sure, battlefield 3 is prettier, but it comes nowhere close to the pure FPS mastery that makes CoD such a juggernaut. The campaign far surpasses the vaguely interesting BF3 campaign and, thankfully, blows the stupid and confusing MW2 campaign out of the water, surpassing the surprisingly strong Black Ops to fall, imo, just short of the first Modern Warfare and Bioshock as the best FPS i've played. The scale is bigger, and while that's not always better, MW3 thankfully avoids a michael bay feel while still having over-the-top set pieces around the globe in the throes of WWIII. But nobody gives two **** about single player except for me, so multiplayer: its pretty **** good. they've made some changes, and while it doesn't seem to be enough for many people, i really don't see much point in ignoring what's widely considered to be one of the best multiplayer experiences ever and trying to reinvent the wheel for the sequel. spec ops, which i've just barely played, is also a ton of fun. Bottom line: haters gonna hate. But MW3, even with all the hype surrounding it, is a fantastic game and completely worth the money. Yes, it runs on an old engine. Yes, the multiplayer feels very similar to MW2. But if you can get over these two flaws (and one of them isn't really even a flaw, seeing as people still play MW2's multiplayer today), then you will be rewarded with a very, very good game. Expand

I don't know what everyone is so disappointed in, you know what you're getting into with MW, in my opinion it's the best yet. The campaign has been refined and the story has been concluded, and they've tweaked multiplayer so that it's just as good as ever, if not better. I gave it a 9 because of some kind of communication issues with the bluetooth headsets. While in a game, talking with friends sometimes crackles a lot or just hard to communicate in general. When in the party chat room, seems to be fine. Something an easy update can fix.

First I would like to point out that in no way is this game innovative, but to call this game mw 2.5 or 1.3 is a rash, bold, and incorrect statement. Anyway, i digress to my actual review of this game. Anyway, i digress to my actual review of this game. I will be breaking this down into the three categories Infinity Ward has given us, as well as certain criteria people expect from a review such as graphics, game play, etc.

The first portion every person should go through (or at least the one I always start with in every new cod title) is the single player campaign. This campaign is fantastic in every sense, though a bit short. But this complaint is a small one considering I blasted through the main story line in about 4.5 hours on regular difficulty. But its length really isn't a flaw if you consider that a game that looks for the biggest adrenaline fill it can possibly dish out, while at the same time trying to not be numbing to the player. This campaign finally wraps up the storyline in a very meaningful and conclusive way and its a blast getting there.

Then comes the return of spec ops, which I enjoy substantially more than Nazi zombies (sorry zombies have become been there done that in our culture, only thing i enjoy with zombies anymore is the walking dead). Anyway I can't wait to be able to play with mode properly with a friend instead of getting paired with some moron online. In addition, a second game type has been added to spec ops which is called survivor. Survivor is more or less the COD take on horde mode from the gears of war series, and it works really well here, though admittedly I do find myself getting bored after one of two rounds.

And finally the monster that is the cod multiplayer. People who hate on it will continue to hate and people that love the fast paced gun on gun arcade style shooter will continue to love it. There is nothing innovative from the (and I don't know why people forget this) original innovation, but it still works great and now with no commando or one man army nube tubes, the multiplayer brings cod into a new world of people complain but not all about the same thing. I will be the first to admit that there are some guns that are slightly overpowered, such as the type 95 or the much hated ump45, but I'm not nearly as annoyed with these weapons as I was with certain weapons from previous cod titles. Overall, I'm having a blast with the multiplayer and anyone who isn't, probably sucks at it (I'm a firm believer that anyone who **** about cod should be forced to post their k/d ratio, so at least we know why).

To wrap things up I'll briefly go over the specs of the game. Are the graphics innovative? No. But they looked damn good, nearly photo-realism, 5 years ago and they still do. Any game that can run at 60 frames per second while having so much crap going on in the background and look this good ON A SIX YEAR OLD CONSOLE, is doing something right in my book. The controls are as tight and responsive as one should expect from a cod game, thatâ

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is certainty not among those. It is, simply put, a Call of Duty game. It is a step up from Modern Warfare 2 EASILY, and a step up from Black Ops in many ways. The Single-Player Campaign is a conclusion to the Modern Warfare Series, and is quite satisfying all things considered. It's a First Person Shooter, and I got what I wanted out of it.

The Multiplayer is where many people seem to have a debate. I found it to be of high quality, if quite similar to Modern Warfare 2. It 'IS' infact a Call of Duty game, so it is understandable that it would follow the same formula as the previous ones. It added a few new features, and some new game modes, as well as a new coat of paint.

All-in-all, I do not feel cheated. I do not believe that it is "Modern Warfare 2.5." I believe that it is MW3, and that it is a fun game, and worth picking up to anyone who enjoyed Modern Warfare 2.

I have been playing all morning, and all I can say the single player makes you feel like a total bad ass and it takes no prisoners doing so. The visuals, sound, and ammount of content is epic. Spec Ops, is the best part of the game but will be probably the least played of the bunch. If you got a buddy to play with this is really a challange, and will put your skills to the test if you are willing to get a 100% in them Multiplayer has grown up a lot, and while not on the same size scale as BF3 it offers a different flavor of it. I am not very good at COD MP, but with the support class I given slack for sucking, but rewarded for supporting. That single featuer alone is sensational. I am very please with it, and the fact that you can custom tailor the guns to your liking is awsome. COD:MW3 is worth your money, and I really have no clue why all the negative reivews. I own both BF3 and MW3, and I can not say that I like one more over the other, but I can say that I play as of right now MW3 more because it is refined, no cashing, freezing, or funky glitches in the game.â Expand

Although the developers choose to use similar technology to the last game, it delivers a virtually bug free experience with loads of content that still looks very good compared to many other games.

The game offers a lot of content: A full fledged campaign, two Spec Ops mode variations and the famous multiplayer mode. The campaign is quite brief lasting only 6-7 hours, but the other two modes offer a great amount of replay value. The Spec Ops mission mode is a great amount of fun, especially with two people working together. There is also the Spec Ops survival mode, where you work with another player (or by yourself) to survive as long as possible to get high scores until the enemies eventually over power you.

Last but not least there is the multiplayer mode, which can easily give you up to 100+ hours of game play. The game play is similar to previous installments but offers a variety of different tools at your disposal to change up your strategies. The most significant change is the revamped killstreak system: The strike packages. There are three different kinds and each work differently, so you have a better chance of setting yourself up with killstreaks that suit you the most. You can get your killstreaks by completing objectives, destroying enemy killstreaks, or just going around killing opponents. The map design is very different from previous installments, meaning you must change your strategies a bit to be more successful.

Overall, this game is about as good as the series could possibly get at this point. The gameplay may be very similar, but it is nearly perfected. I would highly recommend this game; even if you are a seasoned veteran or a new player. A NOTE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS: Understand this game has been under fire from a variety of different internet users, therefore the game has been falsely rated. Take caution while reading user reviews as a majority of them are filled with false information with the sole purpose of taking the user score down.

So many claim that the game is "exactly the same as MW2" and "feels more like an expansion pack." Really? They completely changed the perk system, so now it feels more balanced than ever. Unlike in MW2, the guns all have some kick and sway which actually makes the game challenging. Kill streaks have now been replaced by the brilliant point streak system which rewards all styles of play. The specialist and support strike packages are also fun new additions which can change the way you play the game entirely. Weapon XP and proficiency are also a cool addition which adds a new dynamic to the game similar to the way cod points did in Black Ops... so again, really?? If this is "just an expansion pack" then I think it's an amazing one. I will say though that I do have some issues with the maps; there are too many buildings and they really do feel maze-like, and sometimes the lag is a little ridiculous. All-in-all I think this is the best cod yet and I am very satisfied with my purchase. Oh and I was obviously only talking about the multiplayer, if you bought this game for the campaign... lol Expand

As far as the single player campaign goes, MW2 left you what can be considered a cliff hanger. continuing the story where it left off was well done by the IW/Sledgehammer staff.

The campaign may have a terrible story and forgettable characters(besides Price), but by this point it's to be expected from an infinity ward COD and that doesn't matter because the crazy setpieces are the main draw of the campaign. The multiplayer is no longer unbalanced like in mw2 and i actually like some of the maps in this one. Spec Ops is also good, but i don't play COD games for the coop because its all about competitive for me which is still so addicting i could end up playing it for hours. Sure a lot of it isn't new and if you look closely find certain parts of a map theat are completely copied and pasted from the other mw's with different coloring, but still by this point in the COD franchise you should pretty much know what your in for. So if you never liked COD before then you won't like it now so quit your **** and go back to battlefield, but for everyone else its just more awesome for you to enjoy before the next one hits. Expand

Spec Ops: With the addition of Survival mode I say that mode alone is a 10/10. It's fun, a lot more interesting than Zombies from the Treyarch Call of Duty games and for when PS3 network is down for maintenance I found it an enjoyable activity to pass time with. Much like multiplayer it has a leveling system. Your waves and cash will reset to zero but as you level you will have more weapons to buy and unlock more maps to play on. It is also great practice for learning the multiplayer maps since they share the same maps. The higher level maps have more difficult waves but over all i still found myself getting far and it was very fun.

Campaign: Nothing new here other then the story itself continues. I'll give it a 7/10 considering they finally got rid of the stupid training mission that started the story out before. The training mission is in spec ops however if you enjoy it for some reason. All call of duty campaigns have amazing presentation but overall it's the same experience to me.

Multiplayer: Nothing changed... bull crap, people are liars. First off a 9/10 for this. First thing I noticed was the lighting and weather effects. It is truly on par with the campaign style presentation. It feels like Battlefield 3's scale with a more user friendly close quarters arena, over all if you don't see the difference you should really go buy or rent the game and stop lying to people. Other than that the rest is the same with exception to weapon leveling which really just makes it easier to unlock attachments, no more of that 20 head shots bull crap with this and that or heart beat sensors kills. With plenty of nice tweaks this game is worth the $60 considering you get 16 maps anyways which Activision would have charged you anyways at $60 based on how they set up their map packs.

    What it needs to improve:
    1) Legacy Maps, all of them, rock band style, you should have learned Activision when the Guitar Hero series had to end. Don't let EA beat you to this because it will probably cut sales by A LOT! If that's to many maps for people create separate play list so that people can decide what they play and only need one disc. Also have a favorites play list where players can vote on all maps and the current top 10 maps will be in the favorites rotation.
    2) Destruction, but in your own unique way. I have Battlefield for destroying entire buildings but it would be cool to be able to create some new cover areas and destroy some camping spots.
    3) Create a Map, this is something I would like to see down the line, Tony Hawks create a skate park was pretty dope, i think we could make some pretty awesome maps with the right tools....

so now my average score is...9, i started off with an 8 but decided to rate each part and came to 9, so I will go with 9 officially. thanks for reading.

The single player isn't quite as exciting as MW2 but that is largely because we are coming to a point where there isn't much they can do to surprise us anymore. I would be happy if they used the Elite service to just keep releasing map packs for the next two years to give them more development time, especially if they continued to tweak the game itself to fix any bugs that are found. My main actual problem with this game is the lack of an install for the PS3. Allowing an install would greatly help with the occasional framerate drops that happen, and just introduce more of an overall smoothness. Thankfully the drops are extremely rare so it doesn't typically affect the gameplay experience. My other problem has to do with the map design for *some* of the maps. Even in objective based gametypes, some maps feature nothing but spawning in front of enemies simply because of how tight and windy they are. There are no "safe zones." I also feel that the maps could have used a bit more vertical gameplay, but apparently that was a design decision to make playing on consoles easier. To me, that is deplorable. There are many other factors in multiplayer that could be tweaked to provide a more fair experience, and yet they probably picked the worst way to change it. Adding the Support killstreak package and allowing objectives count toward them was good enough on its own, in my opinion.

Still, these setbacks can't stop people from playing the addictive multiplayer. It is still the best shooter in terms of soldier vs soldier. If you want vehicles, get Battlefield. If you want to just shoot someone in the face, this is still the best series. To me, that is largely a reflection of how far behind most other game developers are when such a diluted market still has only one real choice for FPS multiplayer.

The spec ops mode was amazing. If you have 20 minutes to spare, sit down and play some survival! whether you are alone or with a friend it is fun. it can get boring at times, but you just gotta be in the mood. i also think that spec ops has greatly improved from the previous MW game. Deathstreaks are still here (sad face) but hardly anyone abuses them. none of the perks are OP, and the new killstreak system is new and improved. some call it MW2.5, but i call it MW3, because it is. Everyone compares it to previous games, but they shouldnt. i look at every game independently as it is, and this game is fun. if a game isnt fun dont play it. There have been a few glitches/server losses, but that only means I have to wait another 45 seconds to get back into it. No big deal.

Why not a "10"? There is room for improvement, particularly in the graphics. But COD MW3 is, nonetheless, and enjoyable game, over and over.

On a side note, it's interesting that sports fans don't mind picking up a only slightly revamped Madden every year, or anything from 2K games, but FPS fans (on this site in particular) are rabid about things like "developer laziness" or because it lacks a particular element some gamer preferred. And yet, regardless of the low scores, there are anywhere from 600K to 900K online playing - er - enjoying MW3 at any given time.

The gameplay is tight and a lot of fun. The new perk leveling system is brilliant and you can expect to see it become a part of the video game industry as a whole. The maps are fun, look great, and have some great spots on each one. The single player is a little lacking story wise and I did think that a lot of the gun combat seemed unnaturally close. The multiplayer has tons of graphical and perk rewards added from Modern Warfare 2. But with it being the same engine it does look directly descendant from MW2. The explosions are just barely beginning to outdated. The specs ops and it's new leveling system are SO MUCH FUN. I just can't get over the great time I've had. This is the highlight of the whole thing for me. What a blast!!!

Lastly, if you think that Battlefield 3 is better that's within reason. But there's no way that because this game is in second place it isn't worth buying. Video games are supposed to be fun to play. And this game has a lifetime's worth of gamemodes and enjoyable content.

The mission part of Spec Ops is like MW2 but I think the missions are longer and want the player to get into action a little bit more. Generally Spec Ops is better than MW2 as well.
Coming to multiplayer, most played section of the game. The fast paced Modern Warfare multiplayer is back with new chain kill or point streak system, kill confirmed game mode, new weapons, new weapon upgrade system etc. Nothing much the say about multiplayer I think. The same addictive and absolutely fun MW multiplayer is back like the previous MW games. One thing I saw about the MW3 multiplayer is this multiplayer is more tactical and defensive compared to MW2 multiplayer. I think this is better because it gives you the chance to reflect your playing-style better and use the advantage of the stronger sides in your gamesytle. Graphics, better than MW2 but worse than BF3 to be honest.
Generally, this game has great singleplayer, exciting spec ops and addictingly fun multiplayer.
The battle with BF3? I think MW3 wins this one because of the more detailed singleplayer, variety of singleplayer in spec ops and I think with the multiplayer that a FPS game must have.

There is a great variety of weapons as you would expect from a Call of Duty game. The way you level your weapons up works similarly to Borderlands. You spend time using a weapon which unlocks proficiencies that improve your weapons performance. There are 16 maps. They seem fairly predictable and conservative in layout. The maps direct the action appropriately while avoiding confusion and cluster. The art direction of the maps make it feel like there is good variety and that I am not playing the same map all the time. The kill streaks have been overhauled to balance the gameplay and allow you to tailor a play style that is very unique to you. You can play an offensive role, supportive, or more of a lone wolf role. The engine the game is running on is showing its age, but the gameplay is still as addicting as ever. Its nothing overly innovative but its a nicely refined title in the series.

There are a few problems, hence the 9 and not 10 (you dont have to give it a 0 just because its not perfect or what you wanted). There are still flaws in the MP such as knifing through air and lag; and the campaign is too short, but these are redeemed through everything else. Before going on ill also address the whole stupid Battlefield vs MW thing. Why cant people just like both? I do. I prefer MW3 But would never say that BF3 is a bad game. They are so similar in some ways that it makes more sense to either like or hate both. The set pieces in BF3 are weak and feel lifeless no matter how interactive they tried to make them, but the MP is more strategic which is good and so why choose if I had the money id get both but couldnt (have seen BF played through and had a go though). MW3 nicely wraps up the story of the game with plenty of dramatic moments or twists which keep you interested and eager to find out what will happen next. The characters aren't very deep ( the usual macho men that you get in every war game) and yet they still manage to make you care about their fate on more than one occasion. The plot itself could be considered a little thin but does make sense and create an adequate sense of tension. The storyline moves along so quickly that some details are skimmed over and so it's hard to understand what is going on at times; on the other hand the pace keeps things interesting and no level or section of the story drags on for too long and becomes boring. The huge set-pieces in the game deliver such mind-blowing impact that you feel like youre really fighting for your life. There are just the right amount of explosions and things falling down around you to exemplify the destruction of that a third world war would bring without getting ridiculous. Each level has a different atmosphere from the last based on what had happened in the last level or the mise-en-scene of the current level. New York drops you in the middle of a fast-paced shootout through the streets, while Paris is an eerie, ghostown-like environment. Some sounds and textures may be recycled but this does not ruin anything at all. The guns have more of a 'feel' to them than in any shooter i've played. They look and sound lethal and really get you feelinf like youre firing the gun (my personal favourite being the M4A1, it just sounds so good). I don't understand most of the criticism of the visuals, they're good, no worse than any other game out there and are superior to other MW games. Despite the short campaign I did come out of it feeling satisfied because although it only took around 5 hours to finish, they were a damn good five hours and I had no problem moving on to higher difficulties just to have an excuse to play it again. Not only that, the MP and spec ops provide plenty of replatability. Spec Ops has two types now: Missions and Survival. Survival is infinitely replayable and i've actaully never got bored of playing it. Playing with different people creates a different experience and 16 levels is plenty to choose from, and despite not making new levels especially for it the MP maps also fit playing survival (actually better in some cases). The levelling up system to unlock upgrades and weapons for use in survival mode also adds an element which encourages you to play on even beyond the fact that its just genuinely fun, especially with a friend. The missions are more of a mixed bag with some being better than others but generally being very well designed. Most of them become incredibly hard (for me anyway) on veteran difficulty and so there's many many hours more gameplay in trying to complete them; additionally, what's not to like about being able to just pick a mission and jump in to a juggernaut suit anytime you like?

The multiplayer has plenty of flaws. But every single MP i've played has for the first month or so and there's not too many compared to, say, Resistance 3. Some of the maps are a little poorly designed and too labyrinthine or just having too many, too good camping spots. However the leveling up system is a large improvement on any other MW game. The weapon levels add an extra element to how you have to improve your guns and proficiencies allow further customisation of your class. The prestige shop is a nice little touch aswell. The perks are more balanced than ever before with some countering others and needing to be used more tactically than usual. The new killstreak system with support, assault and specialist packages allow newer players to stand more of a chance and allow there to be a greater variation of killstreaks available while also rewarding players who can get the higher level killstreaks with worthwhile rewards.

A sequel is supposed to be little tweaks, new story, new maps / areas and maybe a new mode. All of the above series do that, yet CoD gets the crap. It is a completely baseless argument! So stop just giving 0's, 1's and 2's because you haven't played it and THINK it is a map pack because it is not. Beside at least it isn't trying to milk you with online passes. I am by no means a super CoD lover or a Battlefield hater, I respect both, I just think what is being done here is a horrible injustice

Now down to the actual review. First off, the story. The story / campaign is actually the best so far, it doesn't try to make you a superhero who takes down an army, it is believable and challenging too, you are constantly feeling the pressure and unlike previous games the fighting style isn't stand in an area, kill, move on, stand in an area, kill, move on, it is fast moving, well paced and very fluid. It always elevates that WW3 feeling with a constant sense of dread and hopefulness, but at the same time it feels like you are running and keep on moving so that there is a chance to make it out of this war. The areas you go to in the game are all incredibly varied, so if it is 'just a map pack' then the campaign 'maps' are pretty damn good. The campaign took me 5h 54m on normal difficulty and it was the least convoluted, easy to follow and solid plot in the series so far. As far as the characters go, I am impressed. They are moving away from the silent type of character that is just a camera, hands and a gun that I hate. Yuri is a very interesting, specifically when you find out about his past towards the end of the game, character to play as and Soap and Price who you work with as Yuri are both very true to their characters in past iterations. The random soldiers that you play as in every game, are good in this one. They were the first ones I really actually cared about and liked playing as. Even if I did not like the specific soldier you play as who (***SEMI SPOILER does not get any real closure in the story SPOILER OVER***) but Sandman the leader is interesting and believable. You also play as a few characters for other levels which is decent as it puts you in an unexpected point of view sometimes. The series concludes very well and is the best campaign yet. 8.5/10 on the Campaign

The multiplayer is yes, still aim down your sight and shoot, and run and knife and killstreak and grenade and flash bang. But this game has the most (and highest quality) maps in any CoD game so far, the killstreaks are no longer unbalanced like the chopper gunner and the hind or the nuke and the new system of them going under 3 categories (Assault, Support and Specialist) is very good and innovative, while you may not spend much time deciding between Assault and support, you will when choosing between those and specialist which allows you every 2 kills to get an additional perk which is certainly very handy. The guns are great, you always have at least 5 options, 8+ for some, in the different gun classes. They are all balanced and you will usually find one or two in each gun type that you want, and the weapon leveling system whereby you level it by using it rather then needing to complete annoying challenges or buy it like in MW2 or Black ops, is much better. The leveling system itself is the same as it has been, which is a leveling system, you get exp, your bar goes up, you level, but now they actually reward you for prestiging. Lag is nearly non-existent and you will never find a larger and more permanent player base then this, 9/10 for the multiplayer.

I will quickly touch on the spec ops, it is (for the missions) the same as MW2, a bit more creative though. The survival mode was something I didn't want, I would rather nazi zombies, but it is actually very, very good. There is also matchmaking for both survival and the missions and split screen support which I LOVE. The missions do feel a bit meh sometimes though, 7.5 / 10 for spec ops.

Overall this game is great. If you want to wait for a price drop, then do, but it is worth giving a chance!

Score = 8.5+0.5 for split screen support (allows online play with a guest using split screen), great maps and great balancing as well as general easy to play, arcade style gameplay.

    OVERALL = 9/10

I have played cod multiplayer since cod4 hooked me. This one is not the best (cod 4 was a 10/10 for me) but its better than black ops (which i would give an 8/10) so a 9/10 for mw3 seems fair. Everything about the game is fun and rewarding, and no other franchise has search and destroy, so solid game in my book

The new survival mode is great but not as much as the zombies mode in Black Ops. The multiplayer is the same old thing.... Again it feel like to be a Black ops DLC, new maps nothing more..... Still I recommend it if you have like the past call of duty games and want to play more. Expand

Just want to say that after playing Modern Warfare 3 for the Playstation 3, I no longer want to play Black Ops anymore. Modern Warfare 3 is such a polished game, and has very smooth frame rate. Lag, and kill streaks simular (Don't know why this website is spell checking the word simular ) to Modern Warfare 2. The lag is what makes this game almost unplayable, or way too easy. I noticed the lag is not as bad as it used to be so I think they are working on that issue. I think this game deserves more because the maps are just flat out fun. The weapons are so pretty and sound great! I give this game a 9 because it's too simular to MW2. Otherwise it would have got a 10. Expand

The most memorable thing to me about this game is the fact that none of the Modern Warfare games to date has captured the same epic feel of the ORIGINAL World War 2 "Call of Duty" games. Modern Warfare 3 is the only one that -- to me -- feels like a REAL "Call of Duty" game. Perhaps all these bad user ratings are as a result of the multi-player. I do not play multi-player since I'm the guy who apparently gets picked on all the time. LOL Expand

Modern Warfare 3 is not a bad game. of course IW didn't change a whole lot gameplay wise, they're sticking to the tried and true formula that i guarantee you EVERY SINGLE PERSON on this website loved, before it became cool to hate CoD. to the BF3 fanboys, congrats. BF3 is a great game. if you're looking for a full on war simulation i would recommend that any day. but if you're looking forModern Warfare 3 is not a bad game. of course IW didn't change a whole lot gameplay wise, they're sticking to the tried and true formula that i guarantee you EVERY SINGLE PERSON on this website loved, before it became cool to hate CoD. to the BF3 fanboys, congrats. BF3 is a great game. if you're looking for a full on war simulation i would recommend that any day. but if you're looking for smooth, fast paced skirmishes, mw3 is the best. so stop driving down the score, cuz we aren't on your metacritic being that big of **** the new pointstreak reward system helps incorporate new ways to play multiplayer. many of the guns are the same as mw2, but it's the third game in a trilogy, what do you expect? the new guns kick @$$ anyway. the maps may not be amazingly awesome, but they are good maps and do the trick fine. unlocking things instead of buying them (blops) gives you a much better sense of accomplishment. THIS GAME IS NOT A MW2 MAP PACK. it has so much more. consider this : normal CoD map packs are $15. they come with 4 maps. PERIOD! if this were a map pack, it would be a $60 pack that comes with: 16 new maps, with access to CoD elite and a multitude of new dlc, many new weapons, 2 ENTIRELY NEW WAYS TO USE KILL STREAKS a whole new challenge list, 10 more prestige levels, a level cap raised to 80, prestige shop, all new spec ops mode, survival mode, 6 more hours of story for just in case your internet is down. not to mention there aren't any modders on mw3 yet, unlike any CoD before blops. If you've ever enjoyed playing a CoD, i would recommend picking it up. at first glance it is cut and paste of modern warfare 2, but i guarantee that if you sat down with it for 30 mins, you would realize that it's so much more, and be just as hooked on it as you have been for any other call of duty. P.S. IMO the single best FPS ever made was Battlefield Bad Company 2. so if you were disappointed even slightly with BF3, pick up BFBC2 Expand

While not living up to the amazing game that was Modern Warfare 2, this is still a great installment to the world's most popular game. If you can ignore the small children and the butthurt fanboys, it has a good multiplayer experience. The campaign is lacking as usual, which keeps this game from a 10. However, it is definitely worth picking up.

Great game. Most people were but they were too earlier as free DLC came out for a new gamemode called Face-off, including 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3. With small, fun maps. Better killstreaks like support (For noobs, I don't use support) and a way of recording videos and uploading them to YouTube very easily. Great first person shooter, you should get it. Ignore those bad reviews.

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
