    I'm going to be quite honest, I refused to buy the game for a few days but was ultimately convinced by my friends that Call of Duty has finally developed a entry into the series worth my time since CoD4. It maybe not be the greatest shooter ever and it really hasn't changed the game play at all but it has improved little things such as hit detection, balance of weapons and kill streaks andI'm going to be quite honest, I refused to buy the game for a few days but was ultimately convinced by my friends that Call of Duty has finally developed a entry into the series worth my time since CoD4. It maybe not be the greatest shooter ever and it really hasn't changed the game play at all but it has improved little things such as hit detection, balance of weapons and kill streaks and has even attempted to add totally new game mode types. The menu set up is clean and user friendly which is great considering Black Ops' was a mess. The story mode is also rewarding to those who actually paid attention to the earlier modern warfare games, and it flows together unlike MW2's story. I smell trolls with these overly poor ratings and its sad that people waste time doing this, I registered just to write this review.… Expand

    It's impossible to satisfy all. And the more successful a company or a person is, the more people are going to hate it. It's the natural order of things. The bottom line is that a game with a 2.7 score does not become the most selling entertainment item in history. This score is the outcome of haters that probably didn't even play this game. I, on the other hand, bought it and am absolutely satisfied with the US$60.00 I spent. It's a quality game that ties a story that started nearly 4 years ago. If you enjoy a rather realistic but still arcade-style first person shooter this game is your pick. Not only it has a good story, filled with adrenaline moments, but it's replay value is very high.… Expand

    I understand why people note so badly, they want new grafics and a revolution of CoD series. But for me I think that if CoD changes to much, it will not be CoD anymore, you see what I mean . However this is a good game, we have the end of Price history and a pretty good experience in survival mode and Multiplayer with those new strike packages .
    But please next time make a better graphic engine.

    This game is just a call of duty 4 expensive map pack ! With the ugliest graphics that i have ever seen ! What else ? Nothing but please activision stop to make games like this because the next year it will be dangerous for you !

    So I have never posted on metacritic, but I signed up for one reason and one reason only, to give this game a fair shake. I purchased Battlefield 3 and almost considered NOT buying mw3 because of all the negative reviews on here. I'm glad I didn't listen. I liked the conflict of COD vs BF and wanted them to both make great improvements as a result. I also am disappointed at the way things transpired with the original makers of COD, it's a bad break. That being said, I picked up my copy of COD and popped it in ready to be disappointed with the same old game being done again. But it took me playing the game to realize...it doesn't matter. This game has been a favorite for a reason, its fun to play, the campaign (though not as good as the original) holds up equally as well as the previous 2 MW's and everything from spec ops to multiplayer are still just as great. SOOO much better than Black ops was, and I'm glad I spent the money. I can't help but think the negative reviews have to be a combination of BF fanboys and people upset (and rightfully so) about what the firing of the orig creators. That said, if you're on the fence about purchasing this game, pull the trigger (pun intended), if you loved the first two MW's, your going to love this one too. Stop bashing this game and making stupid excuses to do so...the graphics may not be as good as Battlefields, but in my opinion (and thats what all of these are, feel free to form your own) this game is more fun. Love them both, still a bigger COD fan. And for those that think I'm a COD fanboy, I'm a grown man and not the type to feel some sort of brand loyalty and force it down your throat. I just am upset I almost missed out on a great game because some people want to see this game fail for whatever reason. In closing...I agree I'd like to see them improve on this game and add more to it, but whats missing doesn't warrant it getting a 0 or a 5. I'd say this game is a solid 8 or 9, but I'm forced to give it a 10 to outweigh the negative response.… Expand

Everything i hate is removed, no stopping power, oma, noobtubes have got extremely nerfed and so did the shotguns. There are more weapons, and a better new way to unlock new attachments and camos.     Before you play this game you need to give it a chance to grow. At first I agreed with most people that it felt and looked the same as MW2. I grew to hate MW2 for reasons like guns overpowered, camping, too many snipers, campaign too easy on veteran and poor maps encouraging camping. I have grown to love the new game as it fixes all of these. The single player is a blast with the fightsBefore you play this game you need to give it a chance to grow. At first I agreed with most people that it felt and looked the same as MW2. I grew to hate MW2 for reasons like guns overpowered, camping, too many snipers, campaign too easy on veteran and poor maps encouraging camping. I have grown to love the new game as it fixes all of these. The single player is a blast with the fights in England, USA and Germany looking awesome; if it took you just 3 hours to complete you should have upped the difficulty as I have clocked 9 hours on veteran and have two levels to do. Multiplayer maps look great in Paris, London to name a few and with the new map layout the camping and sniping is no more. Personally people that played in that way made me hate the game so if that was ur previous style u may have to change ur style to a more mobile run and gun approach which I love. New mode Kill Confirmed is my favourite gametype rewarding gung ho attitude and stopping the needless camping everywhere. Guns and Killstreaks are more balanced and new create a class is refined with rewards for newer players. Guns now level up and it doesn't take long to get the new attachmant you've been waiting for. You now get rewarded even if you die lots and new Support killstreaks help newer players get their rewards making it less daunting to the noob. Lag doesn't seem as apparent as the last game but this is dependent on ur connection. I think this game has been sabotaged by haters who haven't even played the game, BAttlefield fanboys or infinity ward fanboys. At first it felt like MW2 mk2 but after a few hours it really comes into its own. Infinity ward made an appalling MW2 and black ops was good but got boring really quickly and made me question whether COD is getting a bit stale. I am not a fanboy as I hated MW2 and got bored of Black ops. I love MW3 and it has given me the same feeling I got when first playing COD4. My faith in the franchise is back and i look forward to the new monthly dlc. Is it better than Battlefield 3? If you like Battlefield you should get Battlefield, if you like cod before u shold get mw3. But if you haven't played battlefield i think it is too hard for the noob and mw3 will help u get better at the game. Please be honest when reviewing this game and give it a chance.… Expand

    excellent polished game. one of the few games that makes u sweat when playing. amazing single player campaign , huuuuge set pieces that will make movie fans cry.(it's short but it's QUALITY time)
    spec ops are amazingly fun.

    I love this game. I bought Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 and found this to be the better game. Battlefield 3 just didnt keep me wanting to play more were as Modern Warfare 3 did. I have just spent the afternoon with my brother playing co-op and we both love it. Thank you Infinity Ward / Sledgehammer / Activision.

The incredible campaign, the genius Spec Ops, the completely addictive multiplayer all combine to make this a perfect entertainment package, to be treasured and enjoyed time and time again with your friends. Much more balanced than MW2, it subtly reinvents online play without completely overhauling it. The Co-op is the massiveA fantastic game probably the best I have ever played.     It's superb! There aren't any bad things I can say about this game. There are no problems in this game at all so I'm enjoying online multiplayer very well. Spec Ops has been revamped with Survival mode which is really entertaining. Loving it to bits! Although this game is similar to MW2 but with all different maps!

    it's a great game with a solo multiplayer magnifique.Le lot like call of duty modern warfare 2 mulijoueur but still very good and the survival mode is excellent. I recommend this game to anyone who loves the call of duty

This is still a 9. CoD4 was purely amazing, but this new game is still a better game than that one. More polished, better multiplayer, Spec Ops, SURVIVAL MODE and ofc better graphics.     Call of duty modern warfare 3 is the best first person shooter I have ever played.... Bar none. He maps are super realistic and the killstreaks are much improved. I love the new system that upgrades each weapon as your proficiency with it increases. Infinity Ward and Activision knocked it out of the park with this one.

I ended up being addicted to the game and bought MW3 a few days after its release. I'm addicted to this one too. Mainly it's the MP campaign that I love playing.     While I haven't gone through the whole campaign yet, I've been playing multiplayer religiously, and I've done a pretty good number of single player Survival missions. I love it. The multiplayer has considerably improved from MW2 (I didn't play Black Ops) being more balanced, there isn't 90% quick scopers in the game any more, and now you actually have a chance to take them down. The maps are well designed, with a few more central locations where the fighting can take place, and for the most part are seemingly more fast-paced than MW2, with perhaps lacking small maps such as "Rust", however "Dome" does come close. All in all, if you love to play fast-paced first person shooters online, get Modern Warfare 3. It was well worth the wait for me.… Expand

    Having even more fun that all of the other COD's, gameplay improvements are huge. Levelling of everything. Just a great all round casual FPS. Its a different game to BF3. Not sure why we can't love both? I do.

    It's easy to say that MW3 isn't as big of a leap that MW2 made but why change a winning formula? This game is pretty ok, it has loads of explosions and at one point, you shoot some dudes, which is always fun. Also, there's this multiplayer mode, it's pretty great as well.

    Really don't know why people are slating this game because its similar to MW2. Of course it is, it's a COD game. If you were that stupid to realise that before you bought it, you deserve to waste your money. MW3 is a good game in itself regardless of whether its 'just like MW2'!!

    ....and you know what, all you lot **** about it, you'll still all play it all year! What does that tell you?

As for the multiplayer IW revamped it. BF multiplayer is the almost exactly the same as BFBC2! The only difference are the jets and you can go prone!     It's worth noting that this game has a single-player campaign, which many of the reviews bombing it don't seem to take into consideration. If you're interested in only the multi-player modes, then yeah, you'll probably be a bit disappointed. Still, MW3 may not reinvent the wheel, but it's far from a bad game.

    I love the COD: MW series, and i have to say that this is by far the best one out of all the series. to all those people who keep saying "i've done this before", well duh tards. its the final installment to an epic series. So of course your gonna get that feeling your still playing the same story board as the first MW. I feel that the multiplayer is fantastic.     Another great Call of Duty game. Story line is about the same as the rest of them, but the Multiplayer changes are what really shines. The strike packages was an excellent edition to this game. Well done guys

    Well I see the BF trolls reviews are in, now listen to a rational review. If you enjoy the other Modern Warfare games, you'll like this one. Sure, not a whole lot different going on, but the campaign is amazing and the game is still fun. Screw the haters, if you like COD this game is for you.

    The best COD. Haters will always hate. The weapons and the strike packages really balanced the gameplay on multiplayer . Leaderboard is really awesome too.

    Its sad how everyone decides to ride the band wagon "MW3 is the same stuff..blah blah blah.....mw2.5 blah blah" If you stop and give the game a chance, you will see that it is an amazing game. Once ignorance stops taking place and it is actually played, people will indeed have fun. Personally, i think its a great game. It had a fantastic campaign and i'm addicted to multiplayer. Once ignorance stops taking place and it is actually played, people will indeed have fun. Personally, i think its a great game. It had a fantastic campaign and i'm addicted to multiplayer. It is a sequel to the 2 previous Modern warfares... there is not going to be a drastic change between them. Sequels usually don't fall far from previous titles.. that is the point of them. Now further into the multiplayer... the game in every aspect is different. The new gun customization system and choices give us SO many choices and play styles. They also fixed a lot of the problems in mw2 and haven't gotten credit for it. For example, Noobtubes, Commando, One-Man-Army. Not to mention that the connectivity by far is the best connection i have had on any CoD. Although their recent update caused some lag from the game itself, that can be fixed since an update of theirs caused it. Lets also take into account that game was just released. Also, there is no need to complain about the "feel" of modern warfare. I thought that the reason everyone loved and preferred the series was because they enjoyed the fast pace feel of it. Lastly, the graphics aren't much of an improvement... but there is a difference between mw2 and mw3. Lets be honest, it is not like you have been playing mw2 this whole time...just compare them to the previous CoD's graphics because that is what was made and played last. This game is amazing, by far the best CoD to date. Its a shame that it is not even being given a chance. Stay above the influence! Don't miss out on an amazing gaming experience. :)… Expand

    I have been playing this game since it came out,
    I love how the guns are so balanced compared to MW2,
    it's not just a DLC to MW2, the feeling of the game is totally different,
    my guess for so many negative ratings is because all those kids can't afford it,
    so they build up rage to the game, wich is unfair for those awesome people who
    make us games every year, 10/10!

    Best COD to date! Online is better balanced than any previous title! If you paid 60 just for the "Survival" mode it would be money well spent! I was expecting something similar to MW2 after hearing people talk but they must be trolling because they are completely different!

    I hadn't played COD since MW2. The campaign was unbearably short and left me dissapointed as I wasn't a regular multiplayer gamer. MW3's story features captivating scenes and is a blast to play, the spec ops will keep the offline re-playability goign for some time.

    As for multiplayer...
    And hell if it aint broke don't fix it, remains one of the most fun online experiences around

Have you noticed that there is more than 3 new guns in each catagory, also how many new killstreaks there are.     The campaign is great, as always, along with the multiplayer and spec ops. The graphics are about 10x better than Modern Warfare 2. The only people that would not like it, would be Battlefield fanboys. (I love the Battlefield franchise too, so don't say this review is one-sided.

    This is definately the best COD ever. All the people who have rated under 7 are just anti-gaming groups who have all rated the game without playing it to try and lower sales. Better visuals, better multiplayer, better scenarios, all make this the best COD ever, and one of the top 5 games on the system.

So Treyarch decided to make WaW which ended up to be a pure disaster. Finally MW2 came out! Although it was a great game, lack of dedicated servers on PC did not make me want to play MW2 a lot. Therefore Treyarch then decided to release BLACK OP re-installing previous dedicated servers. I have to disagree with 85% of negative critics posted here. It is true that MW3 resembles a lot to MW2 but who cares? seriously? I know the franchise has been releasing a game every year? Get it over it lol again who cares? If they want to make money let them be! MW3 is, to me, an awesome game. I started it and I got addicted instantly. MW3 combines all previous years of experience this franchise has gained from COD4, WaW, MW2 and BLACK OP. Guns are really good, I haven't tried all of them yet - but so far rifles are well balanced. SMGs are SMGs. Melee got nerfed slightly to make it more realistic and finally many perks have been reviewed, changed and unlike in BLACK OP, akimbos are now only secondary guns. I am relieved to not see P90 akimbos anymore. As you would expect, MW3 maps are truly well designed. Although there are a lot of openings - you can't really "own" a map as MW3 is based on fast-pace style. It is good (gives new players the opportunity to kill and respawn is almost instant) and bad (for veteran players, it can be sometimes very frustrating - veterans can be killed from any corners) I am also very happy that Infinity Ward has introduced a whole new system in MP that allows you to level up a gun. I also enjoy new perks that can make you invisible to Air Support/Choppers. Finally, perhaps it is only me but I feel like MW3 really learnt from MW2 mistakes and Auto matchmaking on MW3 is fairly solid. The engine is really consistent. New modes such as Survival and Co op mission are really great! See I never really liked Co op mission. But MW3 made me change my opinion! Also if you are a "zombie-fan-kid" like I was in BLACK OP, you will love the survival mode Infinity Ward has introduced in MW3. In addition to people's critics: 1. No real innovation? I don't think so, I think there is when it comes down to perks, guns etc. Although it is minimal it doesn't really bother me like most raging kids. 2. Another cash? LOL so what? seriously who cares? 3. Bored of Campaign? At first I was very excited about MW3 SP, but the more you play the more bored you get. Why? Because you try to finish the game in 7 days. I'm pretty sure if you space out your gameplay you won't find Campaign as boring as most people think. It took me 8hrs to finish Campaign on Veteran mode. 4. MP is exactly the same as in MW2? Many people do not give this game any respect due to the layoffs and the whole Infinity Ward drama, get over it this is a solid entry and its a good game.

Amazing campaign in my view, delivering a true story in a way that only shooters in the CoD series have ever done.

    Because this game will inevitably be compared to Battlefield 3, i have to say I was completely unimpressed by the beta and cancelled my preorder. By all accounts, the campaign is, typical of Battlefield games, a fallacy, and to me and many others this is completely unacceptable. A better campaign mode can be found on the iPhone in the form of cheap Call of Duty knock-off games (chief among which being the Modern Combat series). The multiplayer conflict between games is a personal choice in my opinion, with players more inclined to go for tense focused firefights at home in MW3, while those who like huge blown-out battles with 64 players much more likely to enjoy BF3. In my opinion DICE have not created as wholesome a product as Activision's handful of studios, with the multiplayer being the only redeemable facet of the game. Spec Ops makes a return in MW3, with 16 missions which are all challenging and fun. I personally hoped for a few more missions, but the new Survival gametype adding a new layer of challenge and fun to the game. With MW3, three fleshed out and polished modes are available to the user, with each living up to the hype of previous games.

    While this game isn't quite a 10 in my view, I have rated it thus to counter the massive amounts of fanboys attacking the metacritic user score of this game. I am livid at the aggression of both EA and BF3 fans in attacking this game and using dirty tactics to try and deplete fans fof the CoD series. What shocks me most is the inability of these groups to be honourable about the whole thing and let the two games battle it out based on their quality alone. Activision has kept quiet about the whole thing and put a great investment into their game, whereas EA has used tactics bordering on corporate espionage to dishonestly degrade their competition. Thankfully, they have failed.

The multiplayer experience is great and offers a great deal of customization, and spec ops mode along with survival makes for a great all around experience.     This game Epically Pwns! Yeah!!!!! It's like MW2 and BLACK Ops mixed together, but the maps are more realistic (but still really fun and fast paced). Lots of good guns. Average singleplayer but the multiplayer is addicting as crack. Cod MW3 For The Win.

    If you liked previous CoD games, you will love MW3. MW3 has some very nice improvements over previous titles. Such as, strike packages, gun proficiencies, and the prestige shop.

    I think that this game is a great. I think that it is definatly better than black ops and also mw3. I dont understand why the game is getting so much hate. Realistically how much can you really change in the multiplayer? Not a lot. I also think that the campaign is an upgrade to the previous call of duty games because it is the first campaign that I have actually completed.

    I find it curious how all of these horrible reviews came out the same day the game was released. At least play the game more than 3 hours before you go screaming its horrible. Leveling the guns separate of your character makes the decision to switch guns much more of a risk-reward scenario as opposed to I'm a higher lvl so I get the best attachments right away. Overall the maps are a little repetitive but i guarantee the first map pack that comes out will fix that.… Expand

    So I just passed the single player campaign and I thought it was pretty freaking cool. Very epic and all but sometimes the storyline was a bit hard to follow. The best way I can describe this game is its like a Michael Bay movie, you either love him or hate him...but one thing's for certain: you're sure to be entertained.     absolutely amazing it is breathtaking, the best ever first person shooter series gets even better. the multiplayer is refined and been made much much better. Battlefield 3 is for noobs and it is a really bad game overall.

    Totally loved every aspect of this game - single player, spec ops and multiplayer. The single player story can be a little disjointed at times but we buy games to play for its fun factor! And MW3 has lots of that in all its modes.

    The new addition to the CoD franchise is worth a full 10. MW3, while having a low user score from Battlefield 3 lovers and people looking for something else. The all new game modes bring an exciting feel to the game, and the all new weapon system is to die for. The critic reviews are 100 percent accurate. This game is the best yet in the call of duty series.

    Great game the online is one of the best of the COD series as there are limited spots for campers, i do feel they need a few more open maps where you can actually use the sniper effectively. The campaign is also good but a bit short. The survival mode is also a good new addition which is fun to play with mates.

    MW3 is one of the Best COD game they ever made for the PS3,Spec Ops i'll give it a 9/10 Campaign i'll give it a 8/10 and last but not least it Mutiplayer which i'll give 10/10 cause it's the mane of event :)

    one of the best games i have ever played it fully lives up to its expectations, it have a great campaign mode and awesome multiplayer.it also has a new mode ''SPEC OPS'' witch you play in survival mode which is just when you fight computer people.or do missions either one is fun

    There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
