Totally disappointed! This is totally a same game as the Black Ops or MW2. If you take a game from 5 years ago and release it today, it will not hold up to today's standards. MW3 is exactly that. Also, the creative and memorable and original maps from COD4 have now been replaced with bland forgettable maps that seem like the developers made as a chore. "Oh lets just change the maps so we can call it a new game, and change as little else as possible." EXACT same menus. EXACT same interface. EXACT same leveling. The list of improvements or even changes is much much shorter than the list of things that are exactly the same. COD is not a sports franchise! You cannot release the same game every year and expect people to like it. I feel like I wasted my money and have no faith in these developers anymore. And yes, zero is a fair score because that is how much effort the developers put into this game. Zero. Expand

I bought this game for the only reason that all of my friends are playing this everyday and I thought it could be a way to have a good time with them but I was wrong. The single player campaign is simply terrible and I died in one day in multiplayer more often than one month with Dark Souls. I really cant figure it out where is the fun. You start running to somewhere on the map to be killed by who knows who and listening to 13 years old boys offending one each other. Im totally out of that violence in the games discussion, but parents should pay more attention for the unbelievable talking that you are forced to hear in this game, it is a new kind of violence extremely disturbing: racist jokes were the lightest thing that I heard in two or three days. Even with a team mode, they never play like a team. Resistance 3 multiplayer, just to mention one, is a game far superior than that. Now I can see that CoD is a market phenomenon that brings money to the industry and it is only that. Just to reinforce: nothing new in the warfront. Expand

The Campaign continues the story of Soap, Price, and Makarov from Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. It's a pretty good finale for the last Modern Warfare and I, personally, thoroughly enjoyed Blood Brothers and the flashbacks from the previous two games. The Multiplayer is okay. The spawn points are horrible and the players are just as bad as ever, but the new game mode Kill Confirmed is surprisingly good. There only seems to be one over-powered thing in the Multiplayer, Assassin Pro. The Spec-Ops Missions are more for people who want more of the Campaign but the Survival version of Spec-Ops is wonderful. It could be better with the inclusion of Akimbo attachments to Handguns and Machine Pistols, more of a perk selection, and 4 player co-op instead of just 2. Overall it's decent for an FPS and good for a Call of Duty. Rent it if you're an FPS fan and get it if you're a Call of Duty fan, whether or not you have the previous Modern Warfare games, it's still good. 8.5/10 Expand

This is not a new game, its almost identical to MW2, just different maps, and couple extra weapons and killstreaks! They didnt fix any of the issues that MW2 had! No kick vote, player/lobby matching is so bad still, spawns are ridiculous! and full of bugs

So many great additions to MW3 online, there isn't really a bad map IMO, loads of fun, loads of pace, nice tweak to the killstreak system means anyone can now pick up kill streak rewards, all in all best COD game to date.

They've all been paid off, as anyone who is a REAL gamer(i.e. doesn't play cod) can blatantly see. The user score here reflects how PEOPLE are feeling and not the "critics". Hell what makes their opinion greater than ours, cause they've a website??!? Thats why I look at websites like imdb to get a proper meta review of the general publics reaction to a movie. I tell you now, I was a cod fanboy in cod4..... but I've now had enough of this. you cant release a yearly game like this, it just doesn't work. Its also the reason why I'm not buying assassins creed this year. Its unacceptable and an undeserving distraction from truly amazing games like uncharted 3, batman arkham city, BF3, Skyrim and dark souls(bought them all). this game deserves a minus score, 0 is too good for the insult to gamers everywhere this game brings. Graphics engine still looks good (and still better than many other games), but shows its age as well. Especially in comparison to Battlefield 3 (PC) - which had about the same quality overall, but deserves a little higher score just because of its visual quality.

Almost everything has it's own physics now, pretty damn remarkable.
The gameplay is tight and a lot of fun. The new perk leveling system is brilliant and you can expect to see it become a part of the video game industry as a whole. The maps are fun, look great, and have some great spots on each one. The single player is a little lacking story wise and I did think that a lot of the gun combat seemed unnaturally close. The multiplayer has tons of graphical and perk rewards added from Modern Warfare 2. But with it being the same engine it does look directly descendant from MW2. The explosions are just barely beginning to outdated. The specs ops and it's new leveling system are SO MUCH FUN. I just can't get over the great time I've had. This is the highlight of the whole thing for me. What a blast!!!

Lastly, if you think that Battlefield 3 is better that's within reason. But there's no way that because this game is in second place it isn't worth buying. Video games are supposed to be fun to play. And this game has a lifetime's worth of gamemodes and enjoyable content.

I really wanted to like the game, but its plagued by lack of any type of innovation whatsoever and maps that really have no business being so pathetic in this day of gaming. The maps are reminiscent of something from the early days of this type of FPS, and not in a good way. Unoriginal and chaotic, it appears that they literally took a random map generator and went with it. As far as being new, about the only NEW item is killstreaks, and most of them just seem redundant and pointless (1 helicopter, vs. a bunch of helicopters, vs 1 tough helicopter). I miss the Blops bomb RC car, or dogs. Would have been nice if they put just a bit more thought into the rewards. Customization has taken a slide from Blops also with little more than what was offered in MW2. Speaking of MW2, MW3 feels more like an expansion and less like a sequel. Zombies are gone giving way to a "meh" spec ops survival. Play wise the game is currently frequented by spikes of near unplayable lag, its not uncommon to be in a firefight and lose and then witness yourself not even facing the enemy or firing a shot during playback. Ultimately this game feels like a marketing scam with the only thing going for it is that it is a badly modified copy of a excellent game from years back. Expand

It is basically the same game with a similar campaign, the same, if not worse, multiplayer, and a new survival mode which, compared to zombies mode, is decent at best. Starting with the campaign, it is the best one of the series, with lots of near death experiences and large explosions. Although, it seems to much like it's predecessor. Spec Ops mode returns, with 16 missions featuring various objectives to be completed, much like Modern Warfare 2. The survival mode seems fun at first, but after a few games, it becomes apparent that it is basically a rip-off of Call of Duty Zombies mode. Now on to the multiplayer, yes, the multiplayer. At first glance, it seems fantastic, brand new gun proficiencies, a new killstreak system, and new maps. But if you dive deeper, you'll find that over half of the guns are from the two previous Modern Warfare's and a couple from Black Ops. The gun proficiencies are just perks that were in previous Call of Duty games that could not be fit into this one. The killstreaks are mostly the same with new names. The only ones that strike me as brand new are the osprey and the juggernaut. The maps are just downright boring compared to Modern Warfare 2's. This may be a harsh review, but it's the truth. If your a hardcore Call of Duty fan, then you'll probably buy this game regardless of what you read. But know, you were warned. Expand

The Campaign - there was so much Hype for this game.. the last time i felt something like that was for Halo 3.. ( that was a disappointment for me) and JUST like Halo3 this was a disappointment.. i understood that the game wouldn't be too long.. i have come to expect it from the MW Series, but i just didn't expect it to be so the same set piece's .. i was expecting something new / something different.. i don't know what different but just something??.. the story itself was pretty weak actually .. MW2 was better.. the main Events that happen u can just tell were coming. also i found that doing it on the hardest Setting was also alot easier than previous MW Games.. Maybe just coz im so used to how the game works ( coz it hasn't changed ) that is why it seemed easier than normal maybe.. In all story was a complete letdown but i wasn't too shocked. Survivor - hmm pretty fun the first time you do it.. but after starting doing the forth map on the list.. i was already bored with it.. i understand why you need to have a different profile so all the guns etc arnt unlocked from your main multi-player rank.. but god its slow to do the same maps to level up.. couldn't they have done it by a certain wave.. you can use the sentry launcher . not by a certain rank.. to me it just seems like a long winded way in getting you to play this mode till you reach the highest level to use everything. or just make the leveling up faster i think that would have been better.. in all the mode is pretty boring after a few attempts. Spec Ops - Loved! on MW2.. MW3 its kinda the same stuff really.. well the challenges are a little different which is good.. but i don't know.. just misses something *new* maybe im being a little harsh.. i think my main problem is that they are so suited to co op.. im actually more a single player person when it comes to challenges like this.. altho i have done the most of them 3 star.. i just felt.. this would have been quicker and MUCH easier on *co op* which is good but also bad coz the game doesnt get any easier when doing on your own.. or any harder when you do it Co-op.. but in all Spec ops is actually ok but once you done it.. no replay value at all.. good thing is spec ops ranking is linked with Survivor. ( thank god )

Multiplayer - Well you either love it or hate it.. to me the newer idea's they brought onto MW3 like the strike packages is Brilliant. more guns, and alot of maps .. ( il get more onto the maps in abit )
but for these small things.. the rest of the stuff is either the same or Just plain bad.. Spawning for me is a real issue on this game.. i read people prefer it or they hate it.. im a hater... I cant stand when my whole team spawn on me when im trying to sneak around the back of a group / team only for everyone else all of a sudden by my side.. i think a big drawback is that with so many strike packages / support / kill etc.. no one shines out anymore.. Ive never been *elite* at the game but i have good games / bad games.. but i donno just everything is so chaotic with UAV spam Alot of Kills but alot of Deaths.. but tbh i think thats due to the map... I HATE the maps. i like there is alot of maps but hate the style.. u can get attack from every direction all the time.. so with the dodgy spawning of people right next to you even tho you just killed 3 of them.. all their team just spawned next to each other.. its just crap...shotguns and knifing is broke IMO.. but i think thats a personal Issue.. Verdict - in all the game was / is a let down for me.. alot of hype for the same game as before but much Worse. im still playing it.. just coz i hope they might fix some problems.. i would rent it if i could turn back time. I may even consider going back to MW2. the game is Deff not a 0 but i wouldnt give more than a 4.. alot of reused stuff and i hope the creators of the game read all these opinions of the people who buy their Games and come up with something new and exciting and not a Micheal Bay Story mode.

The spec ops mode was amazing. If you have 20 minutes to spare, sit down and play some survival! whether you are alone or with a friend it is fun. it can get boring at times, but you just gotta be in the mood. i also think that spec ops has greatly improved from the previous MW game. Now then: Multiplayer. CoD's MP is really fun. Deathstreaks are still here (sad face) but hardly anyone abuses them. none of the perks are OP, and the new killstreak system is new and improved. some call it MW2.5, but i call it MW3, because it is. Everyone compares it to previous games, but they shouldnt. i look at every game independently as it is, and this game is fun. if a game isnt fun dont play it. New modes have been added yes but existing problems with the core of the game(multiplayer) have not been addressed. Server issues, menu interface, spawn system, bland and still non interactive maps are among problems never addressed in mw3. In some ways it feels like a step backwards from the previous game Black ops, hell even the player emblems and titles look like they were drawn by a child where in Black ops not only were they varied and professional looking they were also customizable. Various other irks exist but truly the biggest failure is the hype behind Call of Duty Elite. Ignoring the launch issues that more than likely should have been foreseen, 95% of the service stat tracking and the like was already in Black ops and it was in game not separated (once again regressing). The media outlets projected it as if it would allow different play structures to exist like organized ladder tournaments and ranked matches to happen. This is not the case currently. I for one was really hyped to the consoles having ranked play as it would have allowed those new to the series or not as gifted to play while the uber players could truly see who was the better players among each other. Without any sort of meaningful service all Elite truly is is a map pack pre-order that I myself was duped into. Various other shortsightedness exists like the inclusion of strike packages that supposedly allow for support players to shine while the only stats tracked are K/D ratios and not goals and objectives show the product fails to live up to its own standards. As I continue to play (hell I payed $110 for it!) I await the next entry into the series and hope Treyarch or whoever develops it will redefine FPS as Activision not only has the talent to do, so but also the capital. Expand

I don't know why its so hard to simply produce high quality textures and graphic components and then downscale for the obsolete consoles, but it seems that this game takes the opposite approach: which is why a graphics card that you could buy for $50 four years ago (the Nvidia 8600) is still the required card. Despite what the "recommended" stats might suggest, there's no more eye candy for those with a better system- just higher framerates for those who see 60 frames per second and up. I've played video games since I was an infant, and since being an infant, I've seen the gaming industry go through a revolution. The gaming industry moves faster than in terms of innovation, than any other medium in the WORLD. To me, that is amazing. So I'll begin, with saying I did not have to pay money for this game, I borrowed it from a friend, so its not like I'am upset that I got ripped off. There has only been one game series that I've ever seen before, that completely screwed up every game in their series after the first one. And that game is Halo. Halo one is great game, for us PC fanboys (I used to be) it'll always have a place in our hearts. Then Halo 2 came out, I grabbed that game opening day, and never once in my entire life have I ever been so disappointed by a inanimate object. But you know what the difference between Halo, and Call of Duty is? Bungie (the company behind Halo) actually tried. Bungie actually tried to make a game that would CRUSH, their previous one. And you can see it in every aspect, even if you hate halo 2 and every one after it like I do, you can't help but appreciate the technology they've created, and what they've done. We are getting to a point now, where third party gaming companies (those games the mainstream doesn't buy) after innovating more than Activision. And yes, I know Bungie is a developer, and Activision is a producer. But the difference, is that Bungie's producer tells them "Make a great game", Activision tells their developers "It releases next november". So you can't help but assume the game it already going to be terrible. But no matter I gave it a chance. I myself am I fan of multiplayer, I hate single player everything, so for the benefit of the score of this game, I will not rate the single player. In my opinion, if you are buying this game for the single player, you need psychological help. Anyways, lets take a look. MAPS: Okay, so in standard call of duty fashion, excluding Call of Duty 4 all the maps are designed in a "circle" fashion. Which means that all the players are basically running around the map in a circle all the time. What does this mean for gameplay? It means that no matter what your style is, you will get shot in the back, all the time. Not only that, but the cover is completely useless being that the guns do not have any recoil. Even if you can't be seen by your enemy, they can easily shoot you through a wall. Not only that, but I don't know if this has been a common problem. But probably one of my biggest pet peeves in a game, is giving me the option of spawning into the game, I press that button, and guess what happens? I die. Its extremely easy to figure out the spawns, and sit in a position where you can spawn kill all match. Thats called poor design, and the only difference between this game and Call of duty 4, is some guns have recoil in cod4, and some of the maps are designed so you aren't continuously shot in the back (though not all). GAMEPLAY: Oh god, can we skip this one? NO?! Basically here is what makes Call of duty so addictive, here is why people buy it, and if you like the sound of this, YOU SHOULD BUY THIS GAME. Not rent, you should buy. You will love it I promise. Best feature about call of duty (in my opinion) is turning on your system of choice, and getting into a game as fast as your system turned on. But as soon as I notice this great feature, I just as quickly realize my most hated part of a call of duty game. The gameplay. Its designed, the sprinting, the movement, the recoil on the weapons, the attachment for the weapons, how much it takes for you to die; this is all designed you make you feel like you are the in game version of Jesus Christ. Let me explain; Now lets say, you are absolutely TERRIBLE at first person shooters, call of duty is a perfect first stop IF you know nothing about video games, and what it means to put care into a game. You will do GREAT in call of duty, you will be SO proud of yourself, want to know why? Because of the poor map design, followed by all those things above, you will no matter what enter a scenario, where you will slaughter your enemies, in what way exactly I have no idea. But you will do so well for just a brief 10 seconds, and that for most people is reward enough. SOUND: **** just **** sorry. They have so much money they can afford the biggest names to make an INSANE soundtrack. Not only that, in not one single call of duty game in the history of call of duty have they ever used real gun sounds for all the guns. Meaning you have an MP5k, that actually makes the sound of an FN P90. Which for most, who cares? But for gun dorks like me, its a big deal. GRAPHICS: Call of duty 4? HOW OLD IS THAT GAME, WHY USE THE SAME ENGINE?! Expand

Im also comparing this game to Modern Warfare 2, not Call of Duty Black Ops, because Black Ops was not made by infinity ward. For Spec Ops, the game has two modes of play, Survival and missions. The missions are short and sweet, lasting around 5 to ten minutes long, depending on difficulty choice and other factors. The Survival mode is where you progressively fight waves of enemies in the form of ways in similar ways to the "zombies mode" in black ops. You get a variety of weapons to choose from and a disappointing amount of perks and and air support choices, unfourtantely. Spec ops survival mode lets you rank up, so it gives you that "achievement fix" people crave, and all the maps are the multiplayer maps, so you become aware of what each map is like for when you switch to multiplayer. The downside is, if you have played the other call of duty games, you will notice that all of the maps have this "cut and paste" feeling. You will feel like "i remember this hallway, or this grassy area looks familiar, or this snow level seems the same as the last game". But where spec ops really shines is having your girlfriend (or friend, for you forever alones) sit next to you and play survival together, able to look at the screen below you and know you got someone watching your back. Moving on to the campaign: Im just going to simplify this for you, If you never played any modern warfare before, the story is going to not make much sense to you, but they do offer a little cutscene to try to make sense of it. also, theres going to be a large amount of moments that are considered so over the top that you might think its really cool, or your like me and get bored of it because its simply ridiculous. For you Veteran players out there, this one is easier than black ops, not as hard as mw2. it has the simple formula of tap L1, shoot people, get shot, hid in cover for a few seconds to regenerate health. chances are you will probably die from a car explosion, because they only seem to blow up when you get close to them -_-. so be wary of tires on fire! that means its going to blow up. Onto multiplayer: As i mentioned before, you can play all the multiplayer maps on spec ops to get a feel for them so you dont get lost or wander aimlessly, but if you jump right into multiplayer (which is what i did), you will be confused, most likely. But the game is mostly similar to mw2 with improvements that make it feel like a DLC more than a full on new game. Notable improvements are the revamped killstreak system, now called point system. any time you kill someone, capture a flag, plant a bomb, take out a helicopter etc you get a point. Also there are 3 types of killstreak packages to choose from (with different types of killstreaks to earn). The first is the Strike Package, which is your standard cod killstreak idea, where you try to kill as many people you can before you die, and the streak ends. the support package, is the same but when you die your killstreak doesnt end, it carries over and you can still get that EMP you have always wanted :] . the third is the specialist strike package, this operates like the strike package, where when you die, it restarts. But instead of getting a UAV or a Helicopter, you get perks. so two kills you would get sleight of hand on the spot, or whatever you choose. Another improvement is that the guns have their own weapon proficiency, which levels up the more you use it, unlocking perks for the gun like focus, which is less recoil, or two attachments or impact which is like the fmj, or even longer range or more damage(like stopping power). these are seperate from the guns sights and attachments etc. Another change is 90% of the guns are new, which is good, and now the shotgun is a primary weapon like COD4, and the riot shield is back. Also, stopping power isnt a perk, its a weapon profficency and its the last one so your not really going to die as fast, and danger close is gone, commando is gone, and it always takes to noob tube hits to kill someone unless its a direct hit. where the game goes south is the spawn system. more often then not you will be spawned to feet behind, on the side, or in front of an enemy , and dying for stupid reasons. also, there is no cover, no where is safe. if you had a dedicated buddy he could cover your back, but thats a rare thing. What i recommend is you rent this game, see if you wanna keep it, then buy it. i rented it for 4 days and did not purchase. but its not a zero or a 2.8, its an 8 Expand

This game gets a 1 from me, there appeared to be no ambition in it being made and while it did engross me a little bit there was no character development anywhere for anybody, Sandman could have been such a cool ice cold character, the two other delta force guys could have been awesome too, but they were all just bland characterless shells moving you through the game.

When you compare that to the squad in MW1 when you are defending the farm desperately, or MW2 when you are being commanded by Foley, when Ghost takes control on top of the tower in Contingency you get a real Call of Duty moment - or shall we call that an 'Infinity Ward before they fired the entire creative and development team moment'?

Sledgehammer did a pathetic job at making this a Call of Duty game, they did nothing new, they did nothing ambitious, they were given the biggest game to come along for years and they blew it with bad writing, bad ideas (or no ideas at all) and some truly stupid scenes, mirroring a scene once is a good idea, doing it 4-5 times in the same game is just insanity.

It gets a 1 because the voice acting is not as much of an atrocity as the rest of this game, the script is terrible, but the actors did the best they possibly could.

Let's face it, this game is good, but disappointing. Some forms of Modern Warfare 2 were updated, like strike packages, guns and maps, but it feels like we paid full price for an expansion. Overall the game is fun, and others must think this too by the number of people playing the game, but consumers are getting to the point where tired of playing a lot of money for the same experience.

Modern Warfare 3 was hyped up to be amazing. It was, but no more amazing than MW2 was. The small things that really irritated me, was the laziness of developers. Titles and emblems are exactly the same. The multiplayer challenges have been named the same, (absentee killer, or something like that) it's very embarrassing. I actually cringed while perusing these lists, it's really bad that they didn't come up with new names. I still enjoy playing it, but I really don't think they should be allowed to charge another $50 for this. I'm not sure how true it is, but I heard people even found the code for MW2 maps in the PC install of MW3? How is that acceptable. It hints to a true "copy and paste" job. Spec Ops, oh my god. One of the missions is the same setting, objective, and feel to a campaign missions. I am not surprised people have all jumped on to rate this game badly. It's not that loads of people hate it, it's just a lot of people feel strongly that it was a disappointment. And not enough people are defending it by coming on and putting a 10/10 on. I honestly feel my score has been justified. I have enjoyed the game, but it really is not much different. They brought us new guns, new maps, and two new game modes. I know they won't change the format, I don't want them to. I want them to not charge us as much because it really isn't a brand new game. IGN themselves said the Campaign lacked any immersion of the player.

    I hope you enjoyed reading.

It was the same levels over and over you would start off silent and then it would hit the fan and a huge gun battle would ensue. As for for spec ops survival and mission. Survival is probably the best part of mw3 it was a needed addition and probably what made give this game a score of 5 it would have been lower without spec ops. As for the mission portion it was thrown together with hardly any thought, they just threw it in there it is not fun and it takes no teamwork i could run through the levels on my own without my partners help if i wanted to. Now as for the worst part of the game, online. This part is garbage, the maps are horrible besides a couple, every gun is a sniper rifle it seems and any noob can go 1 to 1 in this game. It has no skill and no teamwork, it endorses camping because people want to get there killstreaks and even when someone does get a killstreak it gets shot down seemingly right away which i have no issue with but im sure others due. Infinity ward and sledgehammer wanted to go back to their roots but in no way is this game anything like cod modern warfare. It is a bland adaptation with a few improvements that should have been done in a patch or update to mw2. In my opinion and again it is my opinion this is the worst call of duty game on this generation of consoles. honestly i am already waiting for the next adaptation from treyarch at least they aren't scared of trying new things. Once again (as with the past 3 iterations) the Call of Duty online multiplayer (you know, part of the game that everyone buys CoD for), is once again broken. Major issues with players teleporting from place to place, rubber-banding lag, nerfed guns and grenades, broken hit detection, lag-switching, and other glitches or exploits that some players have already discovered and are taking advantage of. These problems have been evident since MW2 (MW1 didn't start having these problems until late in its life cycle). If you're looking for a fast, fun, competitive online multiplayer experience then look elsewhere. CoD has gone down the tubes. When a $59 dollar game, one that is supposed to be the best selling game of all time, is broken such as CoD MW3 is, people should be honest and report it. There is no reason or excuse why CoD MW3 should have all of these issues arising with every new game in the series that is released. The single player really doesn't add much to the world of FPSes... want a good single player call of duty? Play CoD 2, or Modern Warfare 1.

As everyone knows though, people play this for the multiplayer, and with an audience as large as the CoD audience, there is no reason why the multiplayer should be this terrible, period!

A gamer cannot appreciate graphics, sound, and most importantly the gameplay, when that gameplay is broken. The experience leaves a absolutely disappointing and awful impression. Apparently, hoping for a game that was as good Modern Warfare 1 has become a exercise in futility and MW3 only proves that things can only get works with CoD under publisher Activision.

    Recommendation:

Do not buy this game! Rent it, play through the single player if you're even remotely interested in the campaign, and then take this garbage back to the place where you rented it. You'll thank me later.

The single player isn't quite as exciting as MW2 but that is largely because we are coming to a point where there isn't much they can do to surprise us anymore. I would be happy if they used the Elite service to just keep releasing map packs for the next two years to give them more development time, especially if they continued to tweak the game itself to fix any bugs that are found. My main actual problem with this game is the lack of an install for the PS3. Allowing an install would greatly help with the occasional framerate drops that happen, and just introduce more of an overall smoothness. Thankfully the drops are extremely rare so it doesn't typically affect the gameplay experience. My other problem has to do with the map design for *some* of the maps. Even in objective based gametypes, some maps feature nothing but spawning in front of enemies simply because of how tight and windy they are. There are no "safe zones." I also feel that the maps could have used a bit more vertical gameplay, but apparently that was a design decision to make playing on consoles easier. To me, that is deplorable. There are many other factors in multiplayer that could be tweaked to provide a more fair experience, and yet they probably picked the worst way to change it. Adding the Support killstreak package and allowing objectives count toward them was good enough on its own, in my opinion.

Still, these setbacks can't stop people from playing the addictive multiplayer. It is still the best shooter in terms of soldier vs soldier. If you want vehicles, get Battlefield. If you want to just shoot someone in the face, this is still the best series. To me, that is largely a reflection of how far behind most other game developers are when such a diluted market still has only one real choice for FPS multiplayer.

The menu system has been made more complicated and setting up a new class now takes an age. Some of the things aren't where you would expect them. Want to alter your killstreaks? You have to go into Create a Class then actually go into a class and change it there.

And the bugs. At many points I am getting less than 1 FPS. Yes, you read that right - less than one frame per second. If you are host, its as bad as it was on MW2. Also Ground War just feels laggy and slow to respond - I cannot believe that just adding another 2 players to a game mode brings the system to a crawl but this has been the case since COD4. Its definitely a PS3 memory limitation issue as the 360 doesn't suffer from it. Seriously though, in regards to the framerate issues, this is completely unacceptable with a game engine thats years old now and on a platform where the hardware is fixed. I could understand this happening on a PC where you have infinitesimal hardware combinations but on a console?

Didn't take the cheaters long to figure out glitches and killstreak cheats but these do seem to be addressed quicker and there is now the ability in the pre-game lobby to select a player and report them.

However nothing gets away from the fact that if this was HalfLife 2 it'd be a mod or the fact that it could have just been released as a map pack for MW2. Maybe it should have been, even at the price it is - the same as was done for BF:Bad Company 2 with the Vietnam pack, talking of which I finally got into the Battelfield series last week with BF3 and I have to say that it just shows the shortfalls of MW3 in spectacular style.

The games main saving grace is the spec ops mode and the online mode. The online maps are varied and balanced with only a few that I detest playing, mainly because I find them too open. Is the main story worth the full retail price? No, it's not, but the spec ops and multiplayer modes are! You will get your money's worth out of these modes. I just hope in the next instalment they refine the game engine and try some new ideas rather than sticking with the same formula. Expand

Spec Ops: With the addition of Survival mode I say that mode alone is a 10/10. It's fun, a lot more interesting than Zombies from the Treyarch Call of Duty games and for when PS3 network is down for maintenance I found it an enjoyable activity to pass time with. Much like multiplayer it has a leveling system. Your waves and cash will reset to zero but as you level you will have more weapons to buy and unlock more maps to play on. It is also great practice for learning the multiplayer maps since they share the same maps. The higher level maps have more difficult waves but over all i still found myself getting far and it was very fun.

Campaign: Nothing new here other then the story itself continues. I'll give it a 7/10 considering they finally got rid of the stupid training mission that started the story out before. The training mission is in spec ops however if you enjoy it for some reason. All call of duty campaigns have amazing presentation but overall it's the same experience to me.

Multiplayer: Nothing changed... bull crap, people are liars. First off a 9/10 for this. First thing I noticed was the lighting and weather effects. It is truly on par with the campaign style presentation. It feels like Battlefield 3's scale with a more user friendly close quarters arena, over all if you don't see the difference you should really go buy or rent the game and stop lying to people. Other than that the rest is the same with exception to weapon leveling which really just makes it easier to unlock attachments, no more of that 20 head shots bull crap with this and that or heart beat sensors kills. With plenty of nice tweaks this game is worth the $60 considering you get 16 maps anyways which Activision would have charged you anyways at $60 based on how they set up their map packs.

    What it needs to improve:
    1) Legacy Maps, all of them, rock band style, you should have learned Activision when the Guitar Hero series had to end. Don't let EA beat you to this because it will probably cut sales by A LOT! If that's to many maps for people create separate play list so that people can decide what they play and only need one disc. Also have a favorites play list where players can vote on all maps and the current top 10 maps will be in the favorites rotation.
    2) Destruction, but in your own unique way. I have Battlefield for destroying entire buildings but it would be cool to be able to create some new cover areas and destroy some camping spots.
    3) Create a Map, this is something I would like to see down the line, Tony Hawks create a skate park was pretty dope, i think we could make some pretty awesome maps with the right tools....

so now my average score is...9, i started off with an 8 but decided to rate each part and came to 9, so I will go with 9 officially. thanks for reading.

Modern Warfare 3 is a good game, but the problem is the lack of additions to the new game. It is basically a mix of MW1 AND 2, with the only things new are gun levels, proficiency and kill streaks. DO NOT BELIEVE THIS GAME'S LOW USER SCORE. IT IS A COORDINATED CAMPAIGN BY BF3 FANBOYS TO DEGRADE MW3 IN ANY POSSIBLE WAY.

    Now, to my review:
This game is a significant improvement on the previous two, with the story of Soap, Price and the others wrapped up in a way that left me feeling hollow and sad in the way the characters had ended up. With most of the characters we love from previous games had died by now, a comment is made by IW on the cost of war. People who are nothing less than heroes have died tragic deaths. Amazing campaign in my view, delivering a true story in a way that only shooters in the CoD series have ever done.

Because this game will inevitably be compared to Battlefield 3, i have to say I was completely unimpressed by the beta and cancelled my preorder. By all accounts, the campaign is, typical of Battlefield games, a fallacy, and to me and many others this is completely unacceptable. A better campaign mode can be found on the iPhone in the form of cheap Call of Duty knock-off games (chief among which being the Modern Combat series). The multiplayer conflict between games is a personal choice in my opinion, with players more inclined to go for tense focused firefights at home in MW3, while those who like huge blown-out battles with 64 players much more likely to enjoy BF3. In my opinion DICE have not created as wholesome a product as Activision's handful of studios, with the multiplayer being the only redeemable facet of the game. Spec Ops makes a return in MW3, with 16 missions which are all challenging and fun. I personally hoped for a few more missions, but the new Survival gametype adding a new layer of challenge and fun to the game. With MW3, three fleshed out and polished modes are available to the user, with each living up to the hype of previous games.

While this game isn't quite a 10 in my view, I have rated it thus to counter the massive amounts of fanboys attacking the metacritic user score of this game. I am livid at the aggression of both EA and BF3 fans in attacking this game and using dirty tactics to try and deplete fans fof the CoD series. What shocks me most is the inability of these groups to be honourable about the whole thing and let the two games battle it out based on their quality alone. Activision has kept quiet about the whole thing and put a great investment into their game, whereas EA has used tactics bordering on corporate espionage to dishonestly degrade their competition. Thankfully, they have failed.
For the above reasons, I rate this game 10/10

Activision gets the last laugh at the end of the day because they the people with the money in the bank and a nice big dollar smile on there face. It is quite clear activision calls the shots while what's left of infinity ward and sledgehammer say yes at the drop of a hat this game could have been something different but it seems to be activisions way or the highway this is greed gone to far which is a crying shame. This leads me to my final point if it's not broken why try to fix it this game now gives me the same buzz MW2 did, yes I said did because this game has taken its place. There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
