    Unbelievably incredible.
One of the best games I've ever played.
The characters have a LOT of personality, even the non-important ones. The story is very easy to comprehend, and the soundtracks are very well made. And holy crap, I was impressed.

I recommend this game to people who like story-based games.

This little game does something that no other has actually accomplished... by making the choices feel real and the consequences can reach you in real-life. Few games can actually make you care, but this game makes you feel it as if it was real.

Every single character is memorable, the soundtracks alone are already worth the money you get from it. The game changes drastically depending on how you play it and, there are mysteries, romances, nightmare-fuel segments and vivid dialogues that makes you care about each and every of those characters. If you're a good person at heart, chances are, you might cry before you even get through the tutorial. What you do or not have a tremendous change on the world around you, unlike many other titles out there.

Despite not having a great variety of attack choices (like magic, limit breakers or whatever), the game allows you to interact much more with each monster you encounter, by allowing you to dodge, time your attacks (you could also not attack at all or miss on purpose), mixing RPG mechanics with Platforming, Bullet hell and dating sims. No joke.

If you're expecting an action RPG or a hack n slash with AAA graphics, then dude... You're at the wrong side of gaming here. This is a experience unlike any other game and... if you don't get any spoilers, then, it is NECESSARY to play the game more than once. Seriously, DO NOT JUDGE THIS GAME AFTER ONLY ONE PLAYTHROUGH. Make different choices, spare, kill, see what changes, this game's songs and humor are only not even the tip of the iceberg. Toby Fox's work is DENSE and you should take it in a personal level, not taking choices to get Ending A or Ending B, but doing what you would do if this WASN'T a game. (Cheesy, i know, but damn it it's worth every $ you spend on it and more).

Boring is one way to describe Undertale, and sadly that's what I found with this game.

It should be good, but it failed at being good, the graphics are passable as it's an indie game, but there are way better games with better usage of these graphics like Shovel Knight. However it's as many say, graphics aren't everything, to me gameplay and story are the big things that matter so I'l go over those. Replayability is another thing but I'll get into THAT later.

The story is simple, Humans and monsters fought one day and the humans pushed the monsters back, and then you come in as a human falling into the underground, and now you have to get out. That's basically it, not many plot twists, it's simple but not endearing type of simple, the "trying to hard to be different" simple and honestly it's kind of a boring plot. The characters are hit and miss with not enough power and too many misses, many characters are bland and forgetable, while some are good enough. However let's get into the gameplay.

This game is an rpg based on the mother series, you can see that with the look of it, however you have two ways of dealing with enemies: A. You kill 'em as usual, or B. You do various different ACTions in order to use your MERCY to spare them. The battle system is interesting, but the sparing enemies is as easy as running from them, you get no money but you get enough stuff on the floor to keep you satiated, making sparing kind of pointless. Not to mention this game paints fighting as wrong, Flowey paints a perfect scenario: "What if you meet a relentless killer? You'll die and you'll die and you'll die." So you can't spare every time you have to defend yourself eventually, so ultimately the game's message is screwed up.

Now let's touch on replayability, this game is short: 10 hours at most, but it doesn't have anything that you'll want to come back for, every playthrough gets staler and staler with nothing giving me any reason to come back. With many of my favorite games there have been moments that I go back to and get the same feeling as I first experienced it, take Mother 3 for example, whenever I play chapter 6, I always cry, without fail. Undertale doesn't have anything like that, nothing at all.

I wanted to like this game, I wanted to, but there were too many flaws for me to enjoy it, if you want to play this game, play the demo, see if it's your kind of game, if you're looking for unique gameplay with an okay story, play Undertale, if you're looking for a game with great gameplay and a gripping story, look elsewhere. 6/10, Boring game, does have some redeeming qualities.

The mechanics get old quickly, the graphics try to look 'retro' but are in fact extremely lazy in execution, the game keeps treating the player like an idiot, forcing them to play the same part over and over again, there is absolutely nothing even remotely interesting or worth your time unless you played less than 2 games in your life.

I mean, I knew I was probably going toplay just another overrated 'indie' game but this takes the stupidity to a whole new level, there is NOTHING in this game, it is a wasteland, people like it because they are supposed to, because it is trendy to like 'retro' games that look like garbage.

So you can TALK to enemies? Spare them? cute. Now try doing that in a way that is at least slightly enjoyable.

Some of the fanbase, in an attempt to tell you how great it is, will promptly try to spoil the game for you, in addition to telling you how you "should" be playing it and why your way is wrong. So be wary of that.
The game isn't even that long, considering that it's an RPG, so you can easily give it multiple playthroughs (I would even say that you are encouraged to do so.)

It wasn’t around late August, 2015, that I discovered this game, almost a year after its release. Even so, the overwhelmingly large and amazing fan base I had stumbled into was still going strong. I was overcome by the kindness and diversity of the community and had to play the game for myself. I got the game for Christmas of that year and “finished” it in only two days. The game had been even better than I had anticipated, and I couldn’t put it down.

I had started playing the game only a day after I got it, and was immediately thrust into the story. Although there wasn’t much on the surface, game creator, Toby Fox, left cracks specifically for the community to tear into caverns. The game’s characters made me feel like a had a real relationship with a real person, and when it came to killing or sparing, I could never pick the first. I decided first to play the pacifist route, the preferred first of itself, neutral, and genocide. In pacifist, when giving the choice, you spare every single NPC, and don’t kill, or eat, a single one. In neutral, you kill side characters, and spare every main character. In genocide, you brutally murder everything in sight. It is the only gamemode I couldn’t bring myself to play. I did watch gameplay of the gamemode, however, but watching every character be mercilessly murdered, brought me to literal tears.

I absolutely loved the game. It was, by far, my favorite gaming experience of all time. The community was the most immersive, kind, and compassionate I’ve ever seen. The game itself was definitely a 5-star experience, and I’ve never felt so emotionally attached to a game and its story. Its characters felt so real, and they made me genuinely want to help them with their struggles. I felt like I wanted to cry when a character was sad or hurt, and I felt excited when I character was happy or accomplished something.
If you thought I didn’t include some information I needed to, please tell me in the comments below! I would also love to hear your opinions as well!

This game is just wonderful, magnificent, marvelous, , incredible, etc. UNDERTALE! The RPG game where you don't have to destroy anyone.

I can say really a lot about this game. Don’t even know what to start with... Yeah almost everyone who played this game has fallen in love with it. Yes this game have really a lot of fans, theories, some interesting stories, etcetera. But I’m here to tell you what I like in this game the most.
    Music
I don’t know how much time it took to create all those soundtracks, but I think for amators it would take like a years to do such a thing. Because this music is the whole game. Every soundtrack is unique and cool. Maybe this game the only one where all soundtracks are really cool. Every single one. Some tracks really inspire you in the battles. Some of them are just relaxing, and some even have made my friend cry o.o Even now I’m listening to the soundtrack which fills me up with determination to write this review :) You can find music -here and here
    Story
What can be better than an interesting story with 3 routes . Pacifist, Genocide, Neutral.
1.Pacifist is a whole game of emotional positivity, the best jokes from skeletons (♥♥♥♥ I love their jokes). Interesting and unbelievable shows from mettaton and alphys. The coolest time spending with Undyne and others. After Undertale you will still keep in your mind all character because each of them is unique. You will love all of them because how to not love so funny, kind , interesting friends to who you will prove that not every human brings the chaos in the underground. Maybe from the start you will think how to get to home because all game is about how you are trying your best to reach the point like with every save you are filling yourself more and more with the determination like you meeting so many enemies on your way but you trying to prove them people are not bad you gain more and more friends, fans and just people who want to stay with you. And that’s it you reached the point you filled on full with determination you see that you almost reached the end and after you doing that you understand that you don’t want to leave all those friends you gain, you don’t want to lost all those love you earned from them and you understand that you heart is here and it’s belonging to them. But things going even more better in the true pacifist ending you are not just reaching the point but you not even leaving your friends, family. And all happy together.
    2. Genocide: But you see that there is not only one way to use your determination, you think you should become stronger to raise your LV and HP . But with every lv up you see that you are losing your self and something other controlling it now but this is already too late to stop you killed everyone there is no way back. Everyone told you:” You gonna have a bad time”, but you didn’t listen. The whole game trying to say you that to be bad it’s not that easy and there is no profit from it. But you are filled with determination again and you are going further because you know you can do it and you are doing it and what happened next it doesn’t matter for you any more you just want to do it and that’s all.
3.Neutral: Sometimes you kill sometimes not, but still you will be forced to choose bad or good ending.
At the end I will say that this game can really go deep in your heart. Be careful thro to not hurt yourself by choosing routes. This game will also go deep in your memory with all good moments you passed in. Of course I recommend this game and wish to everyone have fun in it. I will see you in the next review and stay determined!
My real hours somwhere close to ~ 55 because i was afk a lot in game.
    Pass all routes - done.

You select an action, the mob or boss attack you and you can avoid this. If you think you need to kill all mob, you've wrong! You can mercy them! So this game is maybe one of the best PC game, with perfect mix between music, fight and story! Expand

    Pros:
    - The music is incredible; catchy, fun and perfectly suited to the title
    - Great writing; the characters are memorable and unique, with the first half of the cast unforgettable
    - Creative and ingenuitive "combat"; while you can go through this world completely hack and slash, they is a completely non violent path to take. The majority of the battles are more puzzles than fights, looking for ways to please the enemy enough to make them not want to fight

    Cons:
    - The last few bosses are either combat heavy or just endurance fests, with the final boss not leaving the player any choice but to fight. That ruined my enjoyment. It was Deus Ex Human Revolution all over again - my non lethal character being forced needlessly into combat. Others require you just to wait long enough for the boss to give up. The fun was in puzzling out the battles, not sitting there and avoiding attacks for ten minutes.

    Mixed:
    - The limited visuals can sometimes be a detriment, with occasional bland and samey environments. For the most part, though, the art design is eye catching and pleasing

Overall, an incredible example of what one man can do. An original title in a time of sequels, reboots and remasters, it's no wonder that Undertale is so highly praised. However, the later marathon bosses damage the game's world view. In a title that so deeply relies on it's story, this is a painful detriment. Overall, a good game, worth picking up cheap, but don't expect the world from it.

A vomir !

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is really good~ It's based on a really REALLY great game called "Earthbound." The creator, Toby Fox, is really funny and cool. He has made another game before, Hacked version of Earthbound. SO, with that, let's review the game itself. So you're a kid who fell to the underground. You learn that the humans and monsters had a war many years ago. But you also learn about the monsters and some really good life lessons like "Treat others with kindness and they will (probably) give you kindness back" or "Always stay determined and never give up on yourself!" We should probably talk about these really cool characters. Let's start off with the character you first meet, Flowey! He's evil but with a purpose. Toriel loves humans (for a reason that is a HUGE spoiler~) Sans is a smart but lazy skele (Also SPOILERS) Papyrus, an over working INNOCENT skele because he is a GREAAAAT PAPYRUS after all. There's undyne. She's the head of the royal guard, and REALLY hot headed. She thinks humans are anime and is over all innocent (besides killing you) Alphys is a weeb scientist. Asgore is the king (and a WHOLE LOT of spoilers) And there are two other main characters but they are also spoilers~ I love this game because
of there's no going back. If you do something, like killing EVERYONE, there's no going back.

I love this game because at times it is horrifying but cute at the same time.

I gave this game a 1 solely because it is different, and different is usually a good thing in gaming. However, all the "10" reviews should raise a red flag to anybody considering it. This is a game that attempts to preach about how games should work and tries to connect to the player emotionally. It fails in both attempts. The game is not fun, and completing it felt like an enormous chore.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I still don't understand why this game got so popular.
First of all, the music is fantastic, the graphics are good and the attack system is original.
But there are a lot of flaws: the story, for an RPG, is way too much simple, the characters are generic and why should I spare the monsters that are trying to kill me? Oh right, to get the best ending.
The game is too easy: the 2 first bosses won't kill you, the real difficulties are Undyne and Sans(in Genocide).
I'm harsh with this game because they told me it was a masterpiece, but instead i found a mediocre game.
    I'm disappointed.

One of the best games EVER. The graphics are old, but who cares! About 3 endings. Not just one. There is an very interesting story. There are lots of enemies. Instead of just beating them, you can spare them. Only one minus; the genocide route. BUT WHO CARES! The genocide route is so hard. The soundtrack is good, too. This is worth it.

Undertale is less a game and more an experience that makes you question not only your actions on a moral level but the very foundations of how video games can tell a story. It completely shatters common barriers between the the in game story and the out of story elements of the game, even turning your game saves into vital plot points.

I don't often give games a straight 10/10 score because normally it denotes an uncritical fanboyish response to a game, but undertale is truely something special, the mere fact that someone could create such a subversive, beautiful and utterly engaging story almost single handedly from a $50k kickstarter is mind boggling and makes this game utterly deserving of such a high score.

It's also one of the only RPGs I have ever seen where nobody has to die. Undertale challenges gaming conventions like this constantly and **** with your head in ways that I can't even say without spoiling the game. And on top of all of that, the soundtrack is phenomenal, easily the best one of the whole year.

Yes, I know the fanbase puts a lot of people off from the game, but honestly, I believe the fandom has nothing to do with the game at all. Don't let something so trivial stop you from playing this game, give it a chance and it will blow you away. I mean it when I say Undertale is a true masterpiece, it is the single best game I have ever played in my life.

I want to give this game a good review because honestly, it was inspired by two of my favorite game franchises and it looks like it has so much potential, however I can't, there's too many flaws to ignore.
I won't bring the fanbase into why I dislike this game because it isn't part of the game, but trust me, there are many more things actually wrong with the game itself.

First off, the most obvious one is the characters. Every character in the game is just built on a stereotype and their one flaw. You have the weeb character who actually isn't as happy-go-lucky as it seems, and a skeleton who seems like he wants SERIOUS BUSINESS! but he's actually just innocent and fun-loving. As you can see, the character's aren't that great.

Second is the genocide route. The genocide route is awful in this game, it's a grind to get through and really should just not exist if you're going to push the player as far away from it as possible, making them frustrated just because they're going an alternate route, it gets obnoxious so much so that you ask why Toby Fox even left the option in the game.

Third complaint would be the difficulty. This game is nowhere near hard and was especially disappointing for me as I like shmups and games that give challenge in general. Even in genocide the game wasn't too difficult though I give Toby credit for making a harder versions of the bosses, they were much more fun. Alas, the rest of the genocide route is just grind like mentioned above, which if you didn't know, tedious does not equal hard. I would love to see the hard mode finished because this game's difficulty tends to be a cakewalk. It just stays the same, easy difficulty throughout the entire game excluding the genocide route.

My fourth complaint would be the game's length. So much could of been done with this game and this is one of the main problems. Seriously, if you want to talk disappointing then this game's length is the perfect contender. I don't think much could of been done without changing the story but it felt way too short for it's price.

My last and biggest complaint would be the stolen assets and music. There are a few tracks that are clearly stolen. One example would be Mettaton NEO/Undyne The Undying's theme. Both of them have the exact same melody throughout their song as Persona 2's boss theme (to recognize it the most, look up the eternal punishment version of the song). It is a clear ripoff and made me lose trust for the game. There are others such as Touhou and Earthbound Zero (Once Upon A Time and Earthbound Zero's main theme) however I just wanted to make an example that is clear as possible. The stolen assets are mostly misc sprites such as tables and lamps being pixelated/drawn over from Earthbound Zero. The negotiation mechanic is also stolen from the Shin Megami Tensei series, and advertised as a whole new feature, it's pathetic to be honest.

If I had to give credit where it's due, the story isn't too bad and the music that isn't stolen can actually be somewhat good. But even then, that's about it, this game is not worth five dollars. Maybe one or two, but I'd say even five is a bit over the line. If you haven't played any Earthbound or Shin Megami Tensei games, play them, this game is inspired by the both of them and this game really does not carry their quality. This game is mediocre at best. It's not the worst, but it still does not deserve all the hype it gets.

However , one day , I became curious and decided to check out what all the fuss was about. From Flowey to Asriel, I fell in love with the game through each little step. It has a well executed plot with admirable morals to learn from each character. Every monster in Undertale has a backstory and a personality, rather they are a minority or a main character, which you often don't see in other RPGs. Undertale also knows how to perfectly transition from a humorous state to a serious one without flaw, and its inspiring music fits well with the scene. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am into all the war games and stuff, but this was truely satisfying, especially on the route this game intends for you you to take. It's not just 4th wall breaks, or the character cast, or the few bloopers in the game, or the easter eggs that seem to be very fun. It's also the way the game plays out too. Also, considering there's only one way to delete your save file(Not a "Reset"), it really adds to the gameplay. And personally, if someone criticizes that the game does not have violence, I think they need to have a second thought. This game even has the violence to satisfy a T+ gamer's needs. You guys should try the game itself, otherwise, you won't know what kind of game this is. The reason Toby Fox didn't want the game to be posted on youtube was not because of spoilers, but because people would think they got spoiled and miss an oppurtunity of pure golden gameplay in a 16-bit retro style pack. Usually a step back in graphics allows a step forward in gameplay from what I seen from Toby Fox and his helpful studio. Expand

This is a pretty solid rpg. With replay value. And i wont be surprised that i will replay this one more time down the line.
Also the graphic , what to say it has it charm , it works in this 2d rpg. Last thing is to say is try not to watch anything on youtube before you play this. Go in scratch with no barely no info about the game is best and you will actually go in and visit a wonderful created game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm here to rewrite my review since my opinion on this game pretty much changed since then.
For a first, blind experience it's probably a 9, but once you start replaying it it kinda loses it's charm. However, it's still a neat game, in my opinion.

However (yes, again), unless you're an ending hunter, this game won't have much replay value aside from doing a Genocide Route and then a Souless Pacifist. That and the infamous punch card trick, which from a speedrunner perspective is kinda cool, but not for normal, casual players as you'll probably find it useless and only an inventory filler.

Gameplay is OK, the battle system is kinda cool, story is done kinda well, soundtrack is also kinda cool (there are a few amazing soundtracks in there), graphics are OK for an 8-bit game. But when you think about the game overall, it's nothing really too new and interesting (aside from the final boss battle in the True Pacifist Route, the two final bosses in the Neutral Route and the final boss and ending of the Genocide Route).

Do I recommend it? If you like RPGs and bullet hell games, I guess this is okay for you. Otherwise, I don't really know.

Also, I wanted to see what all the fuss was and see why some voted it as the best game of all times, especially after a long contest was done on certain sites to vote for it. I was outraged how this game was voted beyond some of the other classic and amazing games out there.

I didn't want to just be a disgruntled gamer and allow my nostalgia for past games to cloud my judgment, without even playing the game myself. That's when I finally got a chance to give it a try.

Despite the soundtrack sounding like any old JRPG soundtrack, I can never get sick of hearing JRPG style music in various forms. Although this game and soundtrack was done by an American who is a large fan of JRPGs.

The gameplay itself was rather boring, and the story itself was nothing new or special. Monsters or enemies attacking you at first, and then you befriend them. It's a typical shounen anime story, or stories you even see in a lot of video games. There's a few unique things sprinkled throughout to try and make this game differ from any other RPG, especially JRPG, even though this game is technically not a JRPG.

The combat was a little fun, but I think it was fun because the game is so short, I wasn't spending hours doing the same combat system over and over again. I can't imagine if the game was 5-10x in length, and repeating this same combat system for that long. I think due to the game also being short, people were able to like it a little more, because there was no tedious grinding or side quests which might've been a boring fetch quest.

The menus and equipment was rather simple, and it truly felt like a NES game. The NES games had their time, and that's why they just remain that, a classic. Trying to do a NES type game now just feels a bit ridiculous and feeding off nostalgia. With the internet, there's so many things for people to get their nostalgia fix.

Other than putting a lot of work into the soundtrack, which seems noticeable, the rest just feels like lazy work in a game for a quick money grab and to have that 15 minutes of fame.

This is voted as the best game ever, but I think it was voted that back in 2015. It's an insult to gaming for this title to be voted as such, and I am almost positive this game won't really be talked about much in 10 years, while other classic games will still be talked about.

I've played this game for 40-50 min. and I don't get praise so far, game has some simple puzzles and annoying easy encounters with enemy/friendly monsters. Even if you get into serious fight it is too simple yet dodging can be hard, moving hearth/souls in box is not really top notch gameplay in 80s and 90s definitely but not anymore.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm a bit behind on the times in reviewing this, I know. But I honestly loved this game. I thought what it did with what little it had was very impressive. The story was entertaining and I can't stop listening to the amazing music. Some people are hating on the graphics but I honestly found it very impressive how far the creator was able to go with them. Graphics don't make a game. Story, character, and heart (heh) make a game, which Undertale has plenty of. Regardless, I can't give it a perfect score. Why? There are a few reasons.

I feel like the story needed to be fleshed out a little bit more. According to a walkthrough I read only after completing the game, if you backtrack all the way back to the VERY beginning, you'll be able to talk to Asriel to get more background story "that may be necessary to fully understand the story". Important plot points shouldn't be held back in secret areas like this. The first human was a pretty important detail that needed to be explained further in the main game. Well-hidden areas or conversations are for side details or amusing Easter eggs, not main plot threads. Not only that, but I really would have liked a bit more detail on some of the main characters as well, but that's just a nitpick. Still, what we got was mostly pretty clear, so I wouldn't take away too many points for this.

Also, the combat system is not especially my cup of tea. I'm not personally great at bullet-hell kinds of games, so I felt like that kind of held me back from fully enjoying the game because the combat system often felt more frustrating than I feel it needed to. But that may be just me. Not everyone can be good at every kind of game, after all.

Finally, while I fully enjoyed the differences in morality between killing and sparing creatures, and I feel it made for an incredible difference in dynamic, I feel like the all-or-nothing route was a little bit... excessive? I mean, I don't feel like anyone could really fault a child for fighting a strange creature back when it was hurling attacks at him. However, the extent to which they basically treat you like Hitler after killing almost anything in this game is a little much. As I said, I really do enjoy the game and its different paths, but it REALLY is a little on the nose.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the game, even with these few small criticisms. If you can appreciate the game for what it is without getting hung-up on the graphics or the peculiar combat system, I think there's really something to appreciate here.

"In order to proceed you must solve this puzzle", "the dungeon is full of puzzles" etc. Yep, that's modern writing for you. Not to mention that the puzzles themselves suck, of course. Why are they even in the game. Also during the fight with that obnoxious gay-robot my father came into the room and spotted what kind of **** I was playing. I already hear the uber fans clicking the downvote button and booing me since that's what they did to everyone else who had an opinion on the game, but hear me out. Undertale is definitely not the worst game I have ever played, it's not really even bad. In fact, I am impressed by some of the features that were coded into the game.

Then why don't I like it?

Well for one, the humor of the game relies too much on memes. This already completely dates the game as memes come and go fairly quickly on the internet. In 5-10 years the humor will most likely be pretty unenjoyable because it relies too much on current-day memes to be funny instead of... actually being funny. So many people praised it for its comedy, but I generally found myself getting annoyed at all the "jokes". I haven't really seen many smart jokes that were actually genuinely funny and the ones I did see were too few and far between.

Now I could look past the terrible jokes if the characters were great, but I could not really relate to any of them, so I found it hard to care about them. All of the characters seemed to be defined by quirks rather than an actual personality like characters out of an M. Night Shymalan flick. While quirks can be funny if done right, most of the characters relied on meme humor and just come off as annoying. I'll admit though, some scenes with Payprus were genuinely funny, but one thing dragged it down... The annoying and piercing sound that kept playing everytime he talked. Everytime a character talks in this game, they emit some of the most annoying sounds I have ever heard and it really makes it hard to care for them when their death means that the noise will finally stop. There are also other characters in the game that will interrupt your gameplay to show you that they made a social media post... 5 times... in one minute. I counted. It's annoying as ♥♥♥♥. So yes, the characters everyone else praises and says made them get "the feels", I could not stand at all and just wished that they would die.

Which brings me to another con with the game. Morality and how it is treated in Undertale. This is one feature that everyone kept talking about. "It's an RPG where you don't have to kill anyone, it's so unique, it has not been done." Wrong. It has been done and it is not very unique. I mean Postal 2 also allowed you to play the game without killing anyone. Anyway, morality all kind of boils down to two different paths: Kill=Bad and Mercy=Good. I find that setting the scene is a great way to understand the flaw here. You are walking along a path when a floating horse thing jumps out of the bushes and tries to strangle you with its muscles.... just go with it. You dodge his attack, but now he starts to sweat bullets at you, clearly trying to murder you. He shows no signs of stopping so you attempt to protect yourself, killing him in the process. you're not evil, right? Wrong. The game says that you are automatically evil because you hurt that poor defenseless creature and you had the option to run away and risk getting shot in the back by him or flex with him and hope that he just goes away. If you kill, the game starts whining about how much of a monster you are and how you are disgusting because you kill for the fun of it and you are left thinking, "But they kind of were trying to murder me..."

Another problem I have with this game is that there are never really any tough decisions to make. Once you play for a half hour, you realize that the game offers you the choice to kill everyone, but really discourages that playstyle. Thus, there is one "right" way to play the game which I really hate. Why are there no decisions where you don't know if you made the right choice? One of the tags for this game is "choices matter" and while that is true to a certain exent, all of the "choices" feel a bit one sided. It is apparent that there is one path the dev wanted the players to take and that is perhaps the most disappointing part of the game.

Combat in the game is fairly interesting... for the first five minutes. It gets old fairly quickly and I found myslef dozing off during many of the "boss battles" which is not good for any game, particularly an RPG. The boss battles are supposed to be some of the most exciting parts of an RPG and... they're just not. The gameplay boils down to move your heart around a little bit every so often and avoid the falling or moving stuff.... that's it.

Overall, I can barely stand to play this game, but I understand why some people would like it. To them it's funny and emotional, I definitely did not get the same feeling and I personally would not suggest it. To me, it is not worth ten bucks and I would wait for it to get a big discount before buying it.

    So here's my actual review.
Undertale while being a unique game, with unique gameplay, great story, and memorable characters, there are still some flaws.
These flaws include, and ugly overworld, a slow and almost boring beginning, and gameplay, that functions as a bullet-hell game, rather than an RPG, because there is no strategy, the bosses don't take any time to think, and you only have 1 attack, so you have to either spam the fight button, or spam the mercy button.
But the biggest problem with the game, is the Hotland section, you see, once you get to Hotland, after meeting Mettaton and Alphys for the first time, the game becomes annoying, as it throws at you unnecessary text, forcefully, making it really irritating to get to other areas, while you have these pointless comments appearing out of no were.

-The Morality System: Your every action has consequenses. Unless you go into the game's files, the game could potentially remember you killing a single enemy and then reseting 100 times. The Game is not afraid to shatter the fourth wall, and when it does, it does so with glee.

-The Combat System: The game is a combination of traditional RPGs and Bullet-Hell shooters. You can dodge every attack if you are good enough. Also, with the ability to spare of kill any Monster you encounter, it challenges what we think of as good RPGs.

-The Story: While the story is basic at first, it is more about the characters you meet along the way. Flowey, the master of fourth wall breaking and a terrifying creature. Toriel, the motherly character who will do anything to protect you. Sans, a skeleton armed with bad puns and bad times. Papyrus, the brother of Sans who will do anything to join the Royal Guard and loves cooking spaghetti. Undyne, the leader of the Royal Guard with a hotheaded personality. Alphys, the Royal Scientist with a dark secret and a passion for Anime. Mettaton, the Killer Robot TV Host. Asgore, the king of all Monsters. Not to mention each Monster in a battle has a personality.

-The Endings: Neutral, Pacifist, and Genocide. The Three endings. I can't spoil to much, except that each ending accomplishes very different things. For Example, while Pacifist gives you a feeling of happiness, Genocide is physically and Mentally exhausting. In Genocide, you're gonna have a bad time.

-The Music: Oh My Days, the Music. Beatiful in every way.

Is this a good game? Yes. This surpassed all my expectations. 10/10.

It has almost nothing going for it(especially in the genocide route, I had to stop playing because I was so bored with all the grinding, and to this day haven't finished this 2nd playthrough). It is just not fun at all. At some points it is mediocre at best. For example the stuff with Mettaton.

Let's get to art. The soundtrack is fantastic and I'd say it has one of the best soundtracks ever in video games. I listen to it quite regularly and can't get enough of it. Then there are the graphics. Graphics are good in battles. I really like the black and white style, really interesting and unique. Overworld graphics on the other hand are atrocious. It is so rough and ugly. I mean when you see these other indie games with mind blowing pixel art and then look at Undertale's overworld. Man, I really wish it looked better. It would have made the world look much more atmospheric, beautiful and lively.

Now let's talk about the story and characters. Characters are quite interesting and entertaining. I especially like Undyne, Sans and Asgore. Toriel is not so bad either. The meta narrative in Undertale is quite unique and I haven't really ever played a game like this where every action has an effect in the story and even after resetting the game the game still remembers what you have done. It is quite pretentious at points but hey it's something new. The actual story is decent. Nothing mind blowing but it's fun and at times heartwarming.

Overall Undertale is a decent game with amazing soundtrack. The graphics and the overworld gameplay could do some work but for 10 euros it is worth a shot.

Unlike many titles of the present day with techniques that encourage you to grind so you waste more time on sub-par parts of games Undertale doesn't make you waste any of your time and makes the game totally engaging when it does for the sake of anticipation, and remains brief.

Many titles now feel like they are inherently missing content because of things like day-one-DLC that encourage the player to spend more money on content that should have been in the game in the first place. There is nothing missing in Undertale, period. The game is a complete and memorable experience. Unless you are an irrational person who believes all the hype and literally thinks that this game will cure cancer, YOU WILL ENJOY THIS GAME.

The game does the job correctly of being a video game by actually being fun. It seems like we've forgotten that competition doesn't inherently equal fun, and this is something I think games like Super Smash Bros. and League of Legends easily forget.

The characters are memorable and lovable the soundtrack is clever and thematic and the story easily surpasses anything thought up by the likes of the video game creation community for a long time.

10 is not even a high enough score, if it were up to me I would give this game an eleven because I've never played a game like it, and probably never will again…

The Bullet hell like Shmup system to dodge is really smooth and fixed, heck, the three ending's are great! but I give it a 9 because it isn't all great, there are flaw's, but the game is one I play over and over and over again to just show even after the 600th time, it is still fun!!!!!!!!!

This game is almost a masterpiece, storyline and characters interesting and original concept, great soundtrack, but pixel graphics repetitive gameplay and small flaws spoil everything but they are closed eyes from pleasure when playing.

A perfect mix between gameplay and storytelling, I have never seen another game be executed this well, and in conclusion, this game is absolutely amazing, a definite 10/10 Expand

The problem with this game is that it is over hyped. The game itself is in my opinion very good but because it can not live up to the hordes of fans screaming BEST GAME EVER I feel that the game can't be recommended.

Undertale is a game close to my heart. I went in with no idea what to expect and after a single day in which I completed the games main route, I left with a new favourite game. This is the only game aside from Papers, Please that I would consider literally perfect. I'm serious. Even Crash Bandicoot 2, my previous favourite game, is flawed in certain areas. (Hitboxes, certain broken textures, etc.)

Whereas a normal game would make me say "That was fun" and leave it at that, Undertale changed how I view video games. Seeing as I'm in the process of making my own, this is a great thing. Seeing as I was a pacifist, I actually hesitated to kill in other games. A lot of negative reviews here say that the combat is too simple, but don't realise that it's simpler to select an attack and receive damage. All the bullet hell is is a was to negate damage should you avoid everything.

No game has had an effect as huge as Undertale has on me, even ignoring things like the only soundtrack I religiously listen to outside the game. Even Hotline Miami didn't have a soundtrack that strong. The reason for this is that Toby Fox, the lead dev, primarily made music beforehand. He was responsible for a lot of Homestuck's soundtrack.

Some people think that people who rate 10 are simply fanboys, but it's not easy to get a 10 from me. I recommend this heavily to literally everyone. I only ask that you don't use a walkthrough. Being blind is a big part of the experience.

    [10/10: Perfect]

Undertale is absolutely unique. It's a RPG masterpiece full of weird characters and a moving message.

With multiple endings based on how you choose to play out your run, set pieces that can play out very differently based on your actions and so many incredible moments that we’d love to share but daren’t do so for risk of spoiling anything, Undertale is easily one of the indie standouts of last year.

Through a combination of often relaxed but sometimes tense gameplay, a dreamy atmosphere, and genuine characters that feel like they’re actually alive and all living together in this isolated society of longing, Undertale transcends its medium and becomes a genuinely moving experience I would recommend to anyone who is open to a sometimes sorrowful, sometimes hilarious, always bizarre and engaging emotional journey.
