One of the best games I've played. The artistic story line and amazing characters created created a masterpiece of a game. Knowing that others will eventually play this game and enjoy it FILLS ME WITH DETERMINATION.

the game is unabashedly, unapologeticly Harsh to both the player, the character, The RPG industry as a whole and even the bad guy... it EARNS it's place as the Best game of 2015... and maybe the decade. If you play Pacifist Rout... YOU WILL BLEED for the ending.

Bad graphics, annoying characters, bad humor and horrible story, puzzles pissed me off, bad animations. The game tries to be something emotional and different but it fails miserably.

I simply don't understand why people can be so negative towards this game. I mean, the graphics aren't the best, not by a long shot, but they don't need to be to convey what the game is trying to convey. I had no issues understanding what was what, and I found the simplistic art made it easy to continue forwards without being distracted.

The soundtrack is good. Damn good. Like, "I'd stick this OST on an iPod and listen to it everyday" good.

The gameplay is fun enough. The difference between this game and standard RPGs is that, to avoid attacks, you must endure a small bullet-hell sequence rather than simply having high stats and praying to RNGsus. I like this difference as it means you have to actually get good at the game rather than simply grinding for better stats.

The story is enjoyable, without giving too much away. It also somehow manages to really shift one's view of the game at points if played blindly, and oftentimes makes players wonder "what if I did things differently?". The developer had a lot of foresight and seemed to know how players would think and work in certain scenarios, so props to him for that.

Overall, it's a good experience, easily one of the best games of 2015, and a game that I can wholeheartedly recommend to basically anyone.

    Undertale.
    What is it?
That is a good question. Arguably one of the best games in existence. If you are thinking about getting this game, it is absolutely worth the 10 dollars. From the vast range of in depth characters, to a completely unique fighting style, from the intriguing back story, to music that will provoke hundreds of emotions, this game is certainly amazing for 2016.

This is probably the best game ever.

I came into this game thinking that this was a normal RPG, unaware of the idea that you can talk your way out of every fight, believing that in the world of RPGs, its KILL OR BE KILLED. At the end of the game, I showed a flower that my previous view on the world or RPGs was wrong. This game is, without a doubt, the best game I have ever played.

This game is, without a doubt, the best game I have ever played.

Not only does Undertale convince the player that the world is NOT kill or be killed, but, if you do end up killing a lot of monsters, it punishes you, even to the extent of making you fight the most overpowered boss fight that at least I've ever seen, Sans (The game says, if you check him, that he is the easiest enemy, with 1 attack, 1 defense, and 1 hp).

However, if you complete a run without killing anyone and befriending everyone you fight, it rewards you with what I believe to be the most satisfying ending in any video game ever.

Lastly, Photoshop Flowey (Omega Flowey) is the most insane boss fight to get a perfect run on. I've been trying for at least a week to get a damages victory on Omega Flowey, and I haven't even gotten past his first phase. (Either that or I'm just horrible at Undertale.)

Whenever I hear of a quirky role-playing game, I immediately think of one of my favorite game series of all time: Earthbound (a.k.a. Mother). Mother). That series's cult following has spawned quite a few projects inspired by it, and Undertale is the latest in that club. What sets this particular title apart, however, is that it has loads of original ideas thrown in the mix, providing an experience that is honestly unlike anything I've ever played. A mere clone this is not.

The world of Undertale is characterized by a struggle between humans and monsters. Humans, possessing stronger souls, won the war and confined the monsters to the underground. You play as a human child who inadvertently fell through a hole, finding himself stranded on monster land. From there you'll encounter a host of quirky characters in your quest to get back to the surface, experiencing some pretty great writing along the way. The musical score is also worth mentioning, as it's a superb collection of intensely hummable chiptunes.

What makes Undertale truly unique is how it allows you leeway on how you want to go about the adventure. Every single battle you enter, from random encounters to boss fights, can be solved through non-violent means (some of which further showcase the funny writing). Deciding whether to engage in combat with any given foe can have big consequences on the storyline, too, including future interactions with new characters. If you do choose to battle, though, you'll be treated to several different real-time, minigame-like sequences that make the whole process an absolute blast.

At around five hours from beginning to end, Undertale is short as far as RPGs go. This means, however, that the prospect of doing additional playthroughs, making different decisions along the way, becomes a lot more palatable. Right after I was done with the completely mind-blowing final boss fight, I immediately rebooted the game to start over, which really is a testament to how interesting the world and lore in the game are.

Undertale's main flaw, in my eyes, is how sometimes the storytelling takes away from the challenge. Often you'll be faced with a seemingly awesome puzzle, only to soon realize you'll never even get to solve it, all for the sake of a punchline. Other sections are so heavy in storytelling that gameplay end up all but absent, save from button presses to switch from a block of text to the next. It helps that, like in Earthbound titles, the writing has a pretty great mixture of comedy and poignancy, with doses of plain weirdness thrown in, which in turn makes you care enough about the characters that the extended dialogue sections aren't a chore to go through.

My main impression after finishing the game twice over is that the hype is certainly justified, as Undertale is a game that won't be easily forgotten by those who play it. Even if you're not that big on RPGs, there are enough quirks and new genuinely good ideas on display that just maybe you'll find yourself as enthralled by this curious little title as most people seem to have gotten.

Undertale has the best writing I've seen in a game. Unlike other games It keeps itself balanced. It stays humorous and funny, but staying serious when in it needs to be all while making you feel either disturbed or heart felt. But my reason for detracting a few points is mainly the game play. Now please don' for this hate on me, but I found the game play very lacking in Undertale. The puzzles were just filler for the most part. The only thing that made them enjoyable was the dialogue and writing Included in them. There were only a handful of good puzzles in the game, and they were short lived. The battle system isn't great either. Don't get me wrong I love fighting the enemies especially on a pacifist run, but the only reason for that is the writing. Other than that all the enemies are mostly just pushovers with uninspired attacks. The only good enemies were at endgame, they were a real challenge. In end I think Undertale is a wonderful game with amazing characters, a great soundrack, and the best writing ive ever seen, but it doesn't live without its flaws. Even if it is my favorite game of all time I do penalize it for some lacking game play. If they had done more with the enemies similar to what they had done with bosses then I would rate this game for more than what it is currently worth. Expand

Not only Undertale has amazing writing and music but also unique gameplay - a RPG which you can beat by not killing anything. Even the game encourages you to use non lethal ways to progress. It never get's boring and is actually quite challenging in few boss fights. But of course you have the freedom to kill everything in your path. I don't recommend to do it as the first play-through, because you will not understand the plot.

The story is something that I will not spoil, the short summary of Undertale on this page says all you need to know. Try to play as "blind" as possible. I can say from my experience that there were parts when I genuinely laughed, when I shed a tear, when I felt sad/happy/surprised and even a little horrified due to some horror themes.

The game is made on GameMaker so the graphics are similar to something from a SNES game. Nothing special but is fitting for the experience.

This reminded me kind of a game called "To the moon" from the structure. That the story and soundtrack is the meat of the game. I believe if you like that type of game you will absolutely love Undertale.

I can't think of any objective criticism for the game. It's a very simple but sweet game. So that's why I give it a 10/10.

All I have to say is wow, this game really gives the saying "graphics don't make the game" a whole new meaning. Not to say that the graphics were horrible, but they're not great.

The most amazing things in this game is the story, battle system and the music. The soundtrack in this game is absolutely stunning, every place has it's tone set by different songs. The music can pump you up for a battle or calm you down in certain places with ease.

The battle system is something really innovative. First of all, you can choose to either kill everything in your path or try to spare them. Sparing them is much more interesting, each enemy has a different way of being spared and makes you really think differently for each enemy. For dodging attacks by an enemy, it pulls some sort of bullet hell. It's much better because it requires skill to not get hit instead of being random.

The story is so amazing in this game, I don't want to talk too much about it because I'll probably spoil some major and amazing moments in this game. All I'm gonna say is that there are multiple different endings. Only one of them being the best one.

Anyways, that's my opinion on the game. It's really good for it's price and has major replay ability.

This games explosion with audiences is similar to that of Portal. In fact the game themselves have some relation. A silent protagonist travels, solves puzzles, while being kept somewhere against his/ her will, and finding that an evil rules over.... Yeah I can't get the Portal connection out of my head. Looking even further at this we see Portal being incredibly innovative and creative with the standards of FPS's. And Undertale being incredibly innovative with RPG's. There is also a mimetic sequence in both games where a character talks about a food, and that sequence won't stop being talked about in real life. Also both these games have endings that will make you reconsider what a videogame can truly mean. I'm an avid suffer of juvenoia, and love believing that the age I live in is the ultimate age of gaming, so with that in mind I would like to propose the notion that games like these are the equivalent to what Citizen Kane and 2001: A Space Odyssey meant to movies. Again this is a mere opinion from someone who isn't a devote follower of the industry. I understand that this may be just a product of the times, but the amount of people who love the game so fast shows something. These games seem to have confirmed that they are classics at the bare minimum, only time will reveal how they hold up. This review has been 40% review, and 60% pretentious speculation, you're welcome.A game that wasn't really seen as something that would leave a huge impact, but did so regardless is a game worth talking about. I feel that the lack of pressure to churn out perfection is what lead to, as many people say, perfection. I wouldn't go so far as to call it perfection but it certainly works for what it wants to be. It seems like Undertale was made by people who never knew about movies, TV, or books because all the comedy in this game comes from sheer interactive choices. The timing is also great, even though you choose the next sequence, the game does so much to make dialogue and interactions last a long time. The gameplay kept me invested and truthfully I felt very moved by the ending. Everyone has said this but I do feel that the fact that it was our decisions that ultimately led to the creation of our relationship with this world makes it all the more sweeter. If you just showed a predetermined course where the character goes, you lose some of the impact because it becomes less personal. This truly is a game that only works as a videogame, which shows the true beauty in this game. Expand

The plot does seem rather alien and boring at first, but it progresses to be somewhat of a shocker, but leaves no room for attachment to any of the characters you meet. One of the lines in this game was a pathetic attempt to make the player feel guilty for taking the most destructive path.. "Brother Killer". It failed to drive any emotion for me, whatsoever. Earthbound reminiscent combat was definitely a plus for me, but did little to actually make me feel like my time was a worthy investment.

Hipsters blindly praise this title because it became a movement, a bandwagon, not because it's a legendary achievement. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME IF YOU'RE EXPECTING AN EPIC RPG EXPERIENCE. The weight of decisions in this game aren't as heavy as people would make you think.

Someone gave this a negative review because the graphics aren't up to CoD standards, and that its only on the PC. Someone might just be trying to screw with the Undertale fanbase, but seriously!

So here is my honest review of Undertale, with me not being freaking ridiculous.
Plot: 9/10. The plot is definitely one of Undertale's strong points. I'm not going to spoil it, but I do have to say that it makes you really care about the characters (even the ones you didn't know existed until 30 minutes ago), with a few teary moments.
Soundtrack: 100/10. No, I'm not kidding. The soundtrack to this game is freaking awesome. Music always fits the area you are in, and you'll find yourself listening to Spider Dance over and OVER AND OVER again. Oh, and Megalovania.
Gameplay: 9/10. The gameplay on the overworld is almost exactly the same as all RPG's you will have ever played, but its the battles that stand out. First of all, and most importantly, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIGHT. Yes, you can just talk it out with an enemy instead of fighting. That alone changes the plot drastically, but another thing stands out; its bullet hell-type gameplay. Instead of just generic turn-based strategy, you actually have a chance of surviving an encounter with an enemy without getting hurt, which I felt was a nice change of gameplay.
Graphics: 8/10. Not this game's strongest point, but definitely unique, with different pixelated styles seen throughout the game.

*It seems the review is at an end. You're filled with determination.

This game is funny and clever, and at most it's OK. It has, however, sparked some sort of baby's first philosophy boom that created a fan base so rabid that I'd rather hang out with CoD-bros than these frothing dimwits who will spout on and on about the PURE GENIUS of this game at the drop of a hat. A friend recommended me this game after I told him I received a $20 steam card for Christmas. I previously had only seen the cover of this game when scrolling through the Steam store. My friend told me all about the revolutionary spin on turn based combat, the unique characters, the moral choices, the witty and often subtle humor, and the emotional gripping story.
So after hearing him ramble on and on about the splendor of this game, I bought it.
When I first began the game I didn't know what to expect. I enjoyed the atmosphere and simplistic, yet nostalgic art style and the characters I encountered. The story was very lighthearted as I explored the pleasant underground world. The feels built up heavily inside of me in the most unexpected times. I found myself talking to every single NPC in order to experience more of the slight humor. And the music. Oh the music. I can't even begin to explain the beauty of the music and how it matches so perfectly to the moments you find yourself in the story. The entire journey was entertaining and, while some criticize it as slow, was a very peaceful and fulfilling experience. The ending, of which there are many, which I experienced made me cry like a little baby child over the sheer beauty of it. And I have only but scratched the surface.
It was after playing through the game which I fully grasped the scale of the profound artistry which filled the entire game by its motifs, tropes, and symbolism. The weight and moral implications of murder, even in a digital world led me to hours of philosophical reflection. The emotional grasp the game puts on you with its characters makes you care for them and understand their and all of the other monsters struggles and desperation. The often hinted ideas of what it means to truly be a "monster." The sense that you are in a world much bigger and more complex than yourself.
I know I am rambling on, but oh man was this game the best and most refreshing title I have played in a long, long time.
Buy this game and experience it for yourself if you are into rich, story based gameplay.
And to indicate how much I loved this game: I made a metacritic account for the sole purpose of reviewing this game.

This game will touch your heart if you let it. There are some who don't even bother with this game because they say they hate the graphics. Those people are making a big mistake. Remember when LOZ Wind Waker came out and everyone said they hated it because of the cartoony graphics? They missed out, and now people realize it was a masterpiece. Undertale is a masterpiece, too.

I went into this game with skepticism, now that I've played it twice I regretted not playing it sooner. So much love was put into the creation of this game, you can feel it from the moment you begin until you see the short credit list after the ending.

A highly polarizing game, and rightly so. Undertale contains some brilliant innovation, some fascinating moments, as well as periods of neigh-unbearable tedium for the twitchier gamer. After four attempts to force myself onward, I quit entirely towards the end of my first play-through, and was only encouraged back by Facebook posts and YouTube videos of multi-playthrough content. After four attempts to force myself onward, I quit entirely towards the end of my first play-through, and was only encouraged back by Facebook posts and YouTube videos of multi-playthrough content. A game should NOT have to rely so heavily on such things to keep players engaged, and that is Undertale's biggest failing for me. The pacing is unnecessarily slow, with laborious player movement, slow-scrolling text that is difficult to speed up without skipping entirely, and a few entirely unskippable dull scenes. Much of the dialogue and descriptions were uninteresting or annoying to me. A run mode and better text handling would likely have added a couple of points to my review score.

The game's big feature is how it reacts to and remembers your choices, even through multiple playthroughs. There are 3 major endings and many minor variations along the way, and they're all very much worth seeing. Or at least, the 2nd and the 3rd are... and I suppose you need the first to make sense of them. But make no mistake, I *HATED* my first play-through.

Graphics are obviously lackluster but it uses what it has very well. Soundtrack is above average with a couple of standout tracks (Undyne's and another character's themes - 'Spear of Justice' and 'Hopes and Dreams' - stick particularly in my mind). Gameplay is, well, limited outside of the boss fights. There's no value in replaying any of the individual combats once you've learned to dodge and / or spare the enemies. But the parts that are good are very good.

Finally, the game's score *IS* overly-inflated due to fanboy dogpiling 'unhelpful' assessments on negative reviews, and that is saddening. This is truly a game which is a 8-10 to many and a 0-2 to many others, and those who hated it are by no means wrong. If you're struggling to get through, try looking at a guide, maybe glimpsing at a couple of videos of final and genocide boss fights, and powering through until it gets good. It was worth it for me. But if it's not for you, that's cool too. It's not for everyone.

The battlestyle of this game is quite unique, and reminds you of old RPG. It's very intuitive and becomes quite a challenge later in the game, and becomes even harder depending on some of your choices.

The music is phenomenal. When buying this game I would highly recommend buying the OST to go along with it. It's great. It really adds to the gameplay.

THIS GAME IS GOOD, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

With that said, I have soooo many issues with it and despite the fact that I understand why this game is good, in my opinion, this was the most boring game I've ever played in 2015. I couldn't get past the third boss for how mind numbingly boring it was, and how the morality "system" is so utterly and insanely broken and flawed, that I just couldn't keep playing. It's definitely one of those games where you either love it or hate it. Guess which side I am?

But first things first: if people love this game there must be reasons and there ARE reasons: the writing is top notch, the music is BRILLIANT and SUPERB (seriously, I hate the game but I constantly listen to its music) and the gameplay is varied and enjoyable (I guess?). The game is story based and so you'll end up following it in order to finish it, rather than playing it for the gameplay. If I have to pick a real flaw it would be its length: you can finish it the first time in about 6 hours...but it's one of those games that forces you to restart at least once in order to get the true ending, "because that's good development sign"

Jokes aside, I honestly have no issue with its technical aspect: it's fantastic, and it has no real issues with almost anything...but then why do I hate this game so much?

It's simple: the game itself is, in a very general way of speaking, a "teaching game" of how "killing is bad" and "doing the right thing is good" and that's a very rough way of describing it. There is more to it, but the game will essentially punish you for doing any evil things and reward you for doing good things. There is a neutral ending, yes, but it's still the same thing.

I'm sorry, I heard this game was supposed to be SO advanced in terms of morality, but all I'm seeing is a dumbed down version of Mass Effect all of those morality system we have so far: I really don't feel invested on being good or evil, because being evil automatically locks you from the good ending WITHOUT ANY WAYS OF REDEEMING YOURSELF. In addition, I found the characters extremely annoying and hard to care about, I wished I could kill them...but if I kill even one of them, I get the bad ending so what's the point?

And that's also sad because the fighting is actually good: everytime you get to fight, you have the chance to avoid incoming damage by actually avoiding the enemy attacks, which is a great thing! However, if you decide to go for pacifist, you won't gain exp and levels and will be stuck at lvl 1...i-isn't that so much fun? y-y-y-yay...yay....

But I understand all of this: the game is all about to be rewarded for doing the good things, and being punished for the bad things...but I'm sorry we all know that this is not true: sometimes you have to act bad for achieving the good, and being good will often lead you "to the bad ending". That's not a theory: it's a life fact, it's a thing that happens all the time and that's why this game really bothers me.

Plus, I don't need a game to tell me that killing is bad and Undertale, on this part, was treating me like an idiot.

So despite the rant, I highly recommend this game...because it's good, it's NOT FOR ME but I can see why it's good for many others: it's detailed, it's filled with passion and has nothing terrible going on. But it might or might not bother you about its message and story parts, which really discouraged me to get through the true ending and because I honestly didn't care a single bit about its character: they were boring, and if I tried to act differently than "goodie goodie", I'd get a slap for being "evily evil".

On this morality regard, I just played better games...and overall, better rpgs.

If you're willing to have that patience, then I promise you that the game is worth the cost.

From a first glance, Undertale looks like a mediocre jrpg. Through the first couple of hours, the only things that are reasonably engaging are the promise of drama ahead and witty humor for the time-being. But the game hints at having far more depth than anyone could've originally expected, and the world around the player is beautifully exposed as the plot progresses.

By the end of the game, the player has an entirely new understanding of the world that they worked their way through. They understand that actions have consequences, and that assuming Undertale should be played like other games (and specifically, other jrpgs) is a misconception. Depending on a final decision, the game may prompt the player to try again with a specific goal in mind.

And that's my favorite thing about Undertale. You're meant to try again. And when you go through the game again, while there is some repetition, you'll notice that things are different. There will be new characters, new dialogue, and the surroundings and world around you will be changed because of the different decisions that you've made. And you're not replaying the game, you're continuing with the playthrough that you've already done. The game remembers.

Reading the reviews after playing the game, I couldn't believe them.

The author tries to be cute and quirky and comes across to me as annoying and puerile; he acts as if breaking the fourth wall and being self-deprecating is the height of wit. The characters are cliches and shallow caricatures of people he seems to know in real life. The combat is boring and frustrating. The one interesting idea in the game, "monsters are people", can't single-handedly carry the entire game. Before the end I couldn't wait for this, one of the least enjoyable gaming experiences of my life, to be finally over. The ending was a perfunctory deus ex machina.

The huge disconnect between my opinion of this game and the average opinion has made this a psychological puzzle, more interesting to me than the game itself. I believe I understand the problem. The game's payload is a single emotional experience. The emotion is guilt; it relies on a plot twist, and its effect is increased by making the people in the game cute and familiar. I didn't identify with the guilt trip as much as some--the payload was so underwhelming for me, that it didn't even occur to me that it might move someone enough to like the game.

If you want more about guilt, play Planescape: Torment or Star Control 2 or read Crime and Punishment or an Ayn Rand novel. If you're looking for a cheerful, benevolent RPG (as one might expect this one to be based on its description), play The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. If you like having the choice between being good and evil, play Planescape: Torment, KOTOR 1 & 2, or Fallout 1 & 2. If you like Undertale's characters, look into Baldur's Gate (I don't like either, but like Jar Jar Binks they're similarly silly and annoying and beloved by people who baffle me).

On an ironic note, Undertale is a game about guilt whose fans en masse downvote useful negative reviews while upvoting useless positive ones. I believe this game's lesson is: if you treat cutesy things harshly, you will feel guilty. Players consequently find it impossible to criticize the game, and try to make themselves feel like good people by singing its praises. That's why it makes sense for fans to say that people who criticize this game have no soul. Undertale guilt-trips players into giving it positive reviews.

By breaking down the game or using the fact that it's a game to it's advantage, it breaks the innocence you always feel the game is, that is mainly because of the art style. The game also takes advantage of knowing that you're there. It knows you are there playing the game, so it mentally interacts with you as a living person.

    Buen Soundtrack
    Buen sistema de karma
    buenos personajes
    Buen ""sistema de combate""
    Atravieza la cuarta pared constantemente
    Jefe/s finales poco desarrollados
    Muy idealista.

    analisis expandido.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wouldn't call the game bad, but it is very far from "the best game ever" that people make it out to be. I won't go over what the game does well - there are a lot of other reviews that are gushing over it, so just read those. For the parts that I don't like:

    (1) Permanent game state tainting. If you complete the genocide run, your game state is permanently tainted, and you can not achieve a true good ending anymore with sole in-game means.
The game creates files on your system (deceivingly named "system information") to remember that run of yours, and even if you reset the game, these files remain. Unless you start diving around in your AppData folder, or run an external program that other people wrote to actually reset your state, the game will wait until you finished the very tedious pacifist run (thus sinking many hours into it) - just to turn everything around in the last minute and give you a rather dark ending instead. Which shows that the developer doesn't really respect its users wishes - it's his way or the high way.

    (2) A nasty difficulty spike at the end in every mode but the pacifist mode. Battles are rather simple throughout the game, ramping up slightly as you progress. Once you see the end, the game difficulty spikes - fights reset and restart midway in an attempt to disorient you, the graphics change completely in normal mode runs (Flowey looks like a sore thumb) and you get a slew of attacks to dodge frantically.

None of that would be bad if you have a difficulty curve that gradually gets you there. Could they not have added a bit more difficulty to the earlier battles? Did they want to add more battles to get the difficulty where they wanted to have it for the final battles, but ultimately ran out of time? Or did they just not care/know how to make the battles gradually more difficult so that they flow nicely into the difficulty of the last battle?

Part of the reason may also be that other than flavor text, all different modes (pacifist, normal, genocide) have very similar battles as regular encounters - yet players have vastly different stats. Only the fights at the very end become completely different - so the bulk of the game doesn't feel like it's specialized for any of the modes, whereas the end is completely overtuned (pacifist you cannot lose, normal/genocide you will rack up your double-digits attempts).

    (3) The developer seems to be a bit too full of themselves. A quick nod (as was done for the artist, Temmie) is fine, and a welcome distraction, but the developer's character - a dog - is literally everywhere. In a boss fight? Check. Ending? Check. Regular encounter? Check. NPC? Check. In hard mode, rambling on to the NPC that he likes her cooking? Check. Easter egg room, explaining he wrote the game himself? Check. Okay, we get it. Sheesh. Inside jokes (such as a swear word that's only between the developer and some other guy he knows) are bountiful too.

An item that comes from him - the dog residue (which, by the way, is exactly what you think it is) - is the best item in the game, allowing for unlimited amounts of money. To get the Temmie armor, you'll be playing around with the developer's dog residue (using it causes it to spread over all of your inventory, essentially giving you unlimited amounts of it to sell) until an uneasy atmosphere fills the room. Sounds like fun, right? If you manipulate your save file to add any item to your inventory, guess what is the most valuable item? Not a diamond, not gold, no, the developer's character, selling for over a thousand coins to Temmie.

Overall the game has potential, but with game state tainting, difficulty spikes, and a developer with a very large ego - ugh. I'm sure a lot of people's time is worth just enough to do the dog residue farming trick, but not mine. No, thank you.

Graphics, music, gameplay, all are simple, and all are memorable and fun. But that doesn't matter. The fact this game brought me to tears, made me feel genuine sadness... I've never had a game do that to me before. I've never once gotten to experience that real feeling of being a villain. Of wishing I could make a mistake, that I could be defeated. I played it again after that, and suddenly every painful moment became one that made me laugh. It was a different game. I was having an adventure with my friends. I've felt happiness like this from games before, but it is a rare thing. And it doesn't usually last this long, this joy. But even without playing it, I feel like they're still living their lives and having fun.

Art is all about manipulating and stimulating your thoughts and emotions. That makes Undertale the greatest work of Human art to this date.

Well, I created this account simply to give my vote on this game. It's so perfect that it cannot even be described in words. Play trough the entire game before you decide to rate it. Many people claim their games are art but this is clearly the closest to it.

Undertale is an incredible experience that you really can't express using words. Sure, I could sit here and say that the writing is humorous and creative, or that the combat system is unique and inspired, or that the story leaves a lasting impression that I didn't think could be fit into ~6 hours of play, but it still does not do the game any justice at all. While the graphics and typical RPG gameplay may be unassuming, there is a treasure lying just beneath the surface; a treasure filled with lovable characters, surprisingly deep moments, and a soundtrack that you'll be humming to yourself for months or even years after you're done playing.

Overall, it's just really difficult to put in words why Undertale is so good. It really needs to be played and experienced to have the full effect. It's honestly one of the best games I've ever played, and anyone who rates it less than a 5/10 is either spiteful, ignorant, or they just plain don't like RPGs.

Undertale might be one of the most unique games I've ever played. It is a perfect example of how games don't need to look shiny or be complex to be enjoyable.
Everything about this game is just so fresh. The soundtracks are amazing; the humor, which is a big part of the game, is spot on; the characters are so loving and interesting; and emotions run high.
The concept of not having to

The concept of not having to kill anyone is a very nice thing, and all the enemies are unique and have different "standards".
For such a "small" game, it has a lot of lore and backstory. There's no surprise that this game has been getting so much love.

For people willing to give different kinds of games a chance, I highly recommend Undertale.

With multiple endings based on how you choose to play out your run, set pieces that can play out very differently based on your actions and so many incredible moments that we’d love to share but daren’t do so for risk of spoiling anything, Undertale is easily one of the indie standouts of last year.

Through a combination of often relaxed but sometimes tense gameplay, a dreamy atmosphere, and genuine characters that feel like they’re actually alive and all living together in this isolated society of longing, Undertale transcends its medium and becomes a genuinely moving experience I would recommend to anyone who is open to a sometimes sorrowful, sometimes hilarious, always bizarre and engaging emotional journey.
