Bethesda RPG through and through with better story/writing than Fallout 4. I am enjoying myself. Is there improvements to make? Yes. However, every game has its flaws and for a Bethesda RPG fan like myself I expected nothing else but what I got with Starfield. A regression in story telling and curiosity a cat would rather sleep on. An upside-down iceberg. not even the npcs can hold a straight face when todd said 1000x the planets. Fortunately for todd, there are plenty of fellow starfield npcs irl that will lap it all up.

Graphically beautiful bethesda experience. Standard gunplay that improves technically while regresses in scope*.

Sadly it’s been very uninspired. Bethesda has a history of reinventing itself and setting new standards. This game has so much potencial, but it feels like fallout3 in space instead of the next amazing thing

So this is my honest opinion of the game.

Judging by mixed review scores it's fair to say it's an either take it or leave it game. I'm not the biggest rpg gamer but i put a lot of hours into Skyrim and Fallout 4 and absolutely loved both. I don't usually buy premium editions of anything but I did with this. Why? No idea just impulse and the fact that on Steam it would be fully moddable.

So what do I think of the game? Absolutely loving it. Theres just so much to do. I've got 60+ hours now and I have no idea whether I'm near end game or not. At first controlling the spaceship was hilariously bad but now it's clicked and dogfights vs multiple ships feels like I know what I'm dong here now. Gunfights are good with multiple weapons. It really is one of those games where you think I'll play for an hour or two and before you know it double or triple that has gone and you haven't really done anything.
    - 1 point for the menu system which is far to confusing for it's own good and not very well optimised (yet).

Bugs - Only encountered a few but they usually just make you laugh in a Bethesda way. What other RPG can you put a bucket on someone's head? That's a win for me.

Edit the women are pig ugly. Fixable with mods so not an issue.

I'm having a blast with Starfield. Don't be misled by comparisons to Fallout or No Man's Sky. Expect to spend a few hours learning the game loop without preconceived notions. Once you get into it, the experience speaks for itself.

Needs 10 more years of development with the most recent game engine. In its current state, Starfield has barely no optimizations and needs a 2030 computer setup to run properly. Bethesda also needs to kick her CEO out. At least I got my refund.

Made by company which should of stopped existing if not after F4, then after F76 for sure, since being a company once producing actually good games, by F76 timeline they turned into lazy, sloppy, simply unprofessional something that truly despise their fans.
Fault is on players who being spit into face by Todd, wipe and praise spit taste and keep giving Bethesda their money.
So, comparing Starfield to F4 or F76 - and anyone who played those, you WILL have flashbacks and feeling of deja vu - with outdated animation, brain-dead dialogs, textures basically coping F4, just with removed Fallout spirit, and many more - at least in Fallout series was Fallout lore and Universe, maimed by Beth, but thank you God created by better people; in Starfield you got none. Only BORING, UNIMAGINATIVE, GENERIC story and playthru. Oh, and if you thought in Elder Scrolls was bad UI - wait for this one. Sure, if modders will get hold of it, certain things will get improved by them in time, but no thanks to Bethesda, as usual. So do gaming world a favour - stop giving them money they didn`t deserve, then, and only then, Bethesda might stop selling you refurbished old crap for $130.
Ps: they must pay well to bots and bots masters to leave here those 10/10 "reviews" - that part is laughable really. if you are actually a living person with own brain - have a read those and have a chuckle - same copy-and-paste generic sentences, half of which doesn`t even make sense, guess AI still no match for the humans:))

A trite and often bland experience that I had a hard time bringing myself to keep playing. So much of what you do in Starfield gives you major "been there, done that" vibes and for good reason. A trite and often bland experience that I had a hard time bringing myself to keep playing. So much of what you do in Starfield gives you major "been there, done that" vibes and for good reason. So little of the game is an improvement on FO4, and unfortunately there's even some steps backwards in terms of the quality of the writing and the interest of exploring the unknown.

    My main gripes:
Lack of weaponry, especially melee weapons. New Vegas had power fists/claws, ripper swords, shiskebab, super sledge, and many other interesting weapons. You'd think a game set 300 years in the future would have even more interesting options, but sadly, that's not the case. Just a very paltry amount of mundane weaponry that already exists, with the best melee weapon being a small cestus looking dagger. Bland and boring.

The main quest writing and pacing is pretty abysmal. It makes an awful first impression by quickly throwing you from mining on a planet, to forced into space with a plot that makes little sense narratively. While some side content has better writing, the main quest instantly puts a bad taste in your mouth.

Exploration is kneecapped by overuse of fast travel. There's usually very little reason to want to explore anywhere. A thousand planets with so few feeling unique in any way. Once you've cleared the exact same complex three times, you'll get so sick of the monotony of it you'll never want to explore again. Which is a shame, since some actual good hand-made content is hidden in the morass of mediocrity. They somehow make a game that takes place in a massive galaxy feel even smaller and less interesting than their games that are just one planet or continent.

Starfield isn't a terrible game, and I'd score it higher if it didn't feel like a regression in many ways of the traditional Bethesda rpg formula. Unforutnately, it just feels very dated now. The Creation Engine 2 feels like a creaky, old, relic that still can't deliver action that's not clunky, AI that's not shockingly braindead, or expressive character models that don't look gawky and ugly.

Just a painfully average game, and that doesn't cut it.

But let me be clear, the game have one certain aspect could catch up with modern background game like half life 1, that is its level design, you climb a ladder and loading, you go through a corridor and loading, you enter a building and get more than one loading.

The devs took the open world majesty of Skyrim and compartmentalized the excitement of space exploration into walled in mini games.

REVIEW: Starfield is an odd game. It looks last gen but with some fancy lighting. The same awful facial animation is back but this time the story sucks. As does the voice acting. Which is a shame as I presumed Bethesda would have ironed out the quirks and jank after so many many years and so much money.

It runs fine though digital foundry will tell you not all cards run it equally. You'll get 60 ish fps on 1080p on a mid range card like a 2080. Its a little glitchy but one of the better launched for Bethesda. But this isn't a cheap game so we shouldn't act as unpaid PR teams for a AAA studio which has a habit of misleading fans and starfield is no different. Its not quite what they promised. After Redfail I had hoped MS would have insisted on only releasing games when they're ready. Starfield may have benefited from more time or even a redesign. As it lacks many basic options on all versions including FOV. So mods are once again freely fixing the many issues (cyberpunk style).

The game world is like 970 empty procedurally generated planets and 20 decent ones and 10 good ones. Its like a poor mans mass effect merged with no man's sky though inferior to both. It tries so hard to be all these better games but fails to be any of them or even it's own thing. But I feel with a year of official hard work and free dlc and mods then it could become something better. It will never be Skyrim in space as it's not a seamlessly open world game. As said at it's core it's an elaborate loading screen sim but it's the best one ever made!

Starfield - The talking and inventory management sim. 90% of your play time will be split doing these two things. The other 10% will be doing you know, the fun stuff. Good if you like games heavy on the dialogue and shuffling inventory items about every few minutes.. The very liberal fast travel and many, many loading screens take away any immersion.

-Travel is boring, cutscene after cutscene (or travel manually in nothing, doing nothing - after all, what is in space...)
-Convoluted systems, from piloting your ship to accessing items in menus etc. you're going to have to spend hours figuring out what the f*ck you need to do - basically extremely boring and tedious. Diverting power from Grav to shield to weapon 1-2 etc. sounds great but it's not, it's not pleasant to have to faff about whilst trying to fly.
-Vast empty spaces of nothing. Most planets are just textures of nothingness.

In summary, unless you are a die-hard Bethesda fan with low expectations (this goes hand in hand) then I can't see how people are so hyped about this game.... There's a story (which is probably good) but it's locked behind tedious gameplay, UI and travel cutscenes in such a vast world that it's impossible to avoid all the aforementioned.
Looking beyond the visuals and soundtrack which are admittedly fantastic, and this just feels like a sci-fi fallout in an entire (vast, empty and boring) universe.
ALL the positive reviews are only focusing on visuals and story, voicelines, vastness etc. instead of looking at all the CORE parts of the game which frankly whilst typical of Bethesda, feel outdated and will do nothing to bring in new fans to the studio or game IMO.

As a fan of all genres of games and sci-fi (and not a die-hard fan of any studio) I can honestly say I am 100% disappointed in the game and find it tedious and impossible to get into. I've tried twice having uninstalled twice now and will not be attempting again.

If it wasn't installed via games pass I would be asking for a refund.

Only managed to play it for 56 minutes before I got bored and got a refund. This game is not optimized for PC. I got a headache trying to get it to stay in Fullscreen mode. The facial animation are cursed. The Combat AI is about infant level and I refused to shoot at children. Load screen after load screen after load screen!!! This is Battlecruiser 3000AD 2.0.

To sum it up, I gave up on the game after 10 to 15 hours, and basically regretted even spending that much time downloading the game. Before going deeper, I have a very good pc, with game installed on M2 SSD.

To start with the good stuff,
-There are so many planets you can explore, within the limits of course, and some of them look very interesting. It really gives you the vibes of being somewhere completely else to earth.
-There is a lot of stuff you can steal, interact with and so on, if feels like the whole "planet" is your playground.
-The character creation is a huge playground as well, so many options, perks, traits and so on. It really allows you to create a perfect character for toy.
-The story begins with a really cool premise, that makes u really interested, in whats to come. To be fair, it might be because of me liking sci-fi and space stuff.
-The spaceships make a "big" part of the game, so its really cool seeing an option to create your own one with the builder. Yes there are some limitations to it, but most of those make sense, like having a need for powerful enough reactor, or enough thrusters. On the other hand, the game limits you to only 3 different types of weapons.
-With weapons comes space combat, which iI really like. The use of different weapons against shields and ship hulls, as well as balancing generator power distribution.
-For a Bethesda game, it released in quite a polished state, with me encountering no bugs, and after some fixes, the game runs quite well and loadings are quick.

    Now for the bad stuff,
-I will start with the mentioned performance, where for some reason, Bethesda devs didnt implement dlss to a game with very high requirements. Yes you can get a mod that fixes this, but that shouldnt be needed. In no way you should be required to install a 3rd party mod, to make a 3A game playable.
-The loadings, yet short, are extremely annoying and for me break a lot of immersion in the game. There are 2 problems with the loadings.
--First one being, that most of the time loading is just a boring black screen, that just pushes you out of the enjoyment. It wouldnt be that big of a problem if the game didnt have
--So many loading screens. Yes they are short, but every time u do something, there is few of them, which bunches up. I dont remember last time, when i had to go through a loading screen to get into a house. Mainly with games like EldenRing basically being playable through whole map with almost none. The funniest thing is, that at some point you need to go through 4 loading screens just to get into some spacestation, first is loading while traveling near it, then loading for docking, loading for exiting your ship (if u dont exit directly out of ship, but instead just out of pilot seat, thats extra loading), and finally u load into the other ship from some kind of connecting place) this should be doable with just the travel loading, and docking, where new map for connected ships loads.
-The on foot combat just feels like 2 bullet sponges beating each other with a spoon. Basically, you dont take damage, but nor do you enemies. I ended up just running into their faces with starting "weapon" and killing them that way.
-All the NPCs apear emotionless, if feels like there is nothing behind them, yes they can have some interesting dialog, stuff to say, but when its coming from a plank of food, it all feels not important, boring. I also have seen some weird NPC faces and expresions in clips and photos, but i didnt encounter anything like that.
-To talk a bit about the story i mentioned, that grabs you right at the start, there is a problem it lets you go instantly. Everyone says, that it really gets good in a time, the problem is, that by that time you just get bored, and even the promise of interesting story becomes just a distant dream. I wanted to force myself into getting to the point where it gets good, only to give up.

-My final problem comes from the main idea of the game. This game should be a SPACE EXPLORATION game.
--The problem is, that SPACE feels just like a fast travel medium, that just slows down you loading into the main content which are the planets. For something that had the space advertised so much, it ends up being almost pointless, where most of the time u will just fast travel from planet to planet, without even seeing the space. Also the space feels very uninteractive, where the vast and endless space is just a place, where u can travel a bit, dogfight, and fast travel somewhere else. There is no YOU traveling, where u want to go, just fast travels.
--Same goes for EXPLORATION part, where you can only explore the premade parts of the planet, which most of them have same placements of everything. You are basically put into sandbox, thats a 1x1km cube you cant leave. Most of the planets have it this way. There is no freedom, there is no open space, there are just small sandboxes to teleport to.

"Exploration is in our nature. We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still. We have lingered long enough on the shores of the cosmic ocean. We are ready at last to set sail for the stars." - Carl Sagan

While Starfield may not be precisely what Carl Sagan had in mind when he spoke of setting sail for the stars, I believe Bethesda Game Studios has captured the essence of that dream remarkably well.

Let me start by saying I am having an incredible amount of fun, and Bethesda has truly hit the mark with this game. Starfield is a heartfelt homage to classic BGS/Obsidian-style first-person ARPGs that will resonate with fans of these genres. You literally will not predict where this adventure takes you. Any preconceived notions you have from watching trailers or gameplay cannot fully prepare you for what is actually out there to find and explore. If that appeals to you, then this game was made for you, fellow explorer.

Starfield might not appeal to everyone, but I can emphatically state that it resonates with me, and I'm thoroughly enjoying my time with it. I absolutely love this game. As a devoted sci-fi enthusiast, it checks many of my boxes. Furthermore, it represents a notable and substantial improvement over previous Bethesda games. Make no mistake; it retains the unmistakable Bethesda charm. In my opinion, this is the best Bethesda game to date because it represents the culmination of decades of lessons learned from developing Fallout and Elder Scrolls titles. It fills me with anticipation for future Bethesda releases. The game is also surprisingly polished, which has been a pleasant surprise. I have encountered no significant bugs during my playtime. As a side note, I believe the level of criticism directed at Bethesda and this game is unwarranted. Frankly, I cannot comprehend the basis for most of these criticisms. Nearly all the criticisms I've encountered are unjustified.

There is so much to do in Starfield that it might almost be overwhelming, but surprisingly, that doesn't bother me in the least. I plan to spend thousands of hours exploring Bethesda's new universe, just as I have with their previous creations. I can't wait to see what lies beyond. I've already dedicated a considerable amount of time to exploration and side quests, yet I feel like I've only scratched the surface. This lack of pressure to rush through content is a breath of fresh air. Nothing quite compares to the single-player experience that Bethesda delivers.

    My System Specs: Core i9-9900KF/RTX 3070/16GB DDR4/SSD

I've experienced a reasonably smooth 50-60 FPS average while running the game at a high/ultra mix of settings on my 1080p ultrawide monitor in outdoor environments. Indoors, I consistently enjoy a very smooth 80-100 FPS.

Overall Score: 9/10 - I wholeheartedly recommend Starfield, particularly if you're a fan of science fiction and Bethesda's style of ARPGs. If you have a sufficiently powerful gaming system to handle this massive game, it's a must-play. While I don't have any significant complaints at this point, I refrain from awarding an arbitrary 10/10 mostly because Bethesda made me wait so long for this fantastic game!!! ...which is ironically probably fantastic because we had to wait! BAH! Fine... 10/10.

Overall I'd say that I enjoyed it for the most part, but it wasn't the masterpiece I was hoping it would be. For me the biggest problem was the performance, I had a ton of stuttering and like everybody else a lower than ideal level of performance. Technical problems always kill games for me and Starfield was no different. I found the game actually started to perform worse the further I got, the frequency of stutters definitely increased. I really hope that both Nvidia and Bethesda can improve the situation, and if they do I'd be tempted to play NG+.

My other major issue was the story, it just wasn't very interesting and I honestly didn't care about the characters, apart from one. And the big reveal at the end literally made me groan, let's just say it wasn't very original. I played Baldur's Gate III before Starfield and I was so invested into that world and the characters, it's what made that game so incredible and Starfield just never comes close to that level of storytelling or character building. I really tried to not compare it to BG3 going in, but with it so fresh in my mind it was hard not to.

Other smaller gripes include the sheer amount of loading screens, how irrelevant mining and gathering is, how the majority of the planets feel completely empty as they often have no life on them, and the landmarks become familiar very fast. The UI is another sore spot, for so many reasons, why can't I eat food instead of having to loot it, open multiple menus and then eat it? The game is filled with stuff like that, little QoL features that are missing which makes for a poor experience.

On the more positive side I really enjoyed the combat, it's by far the best combat Bethesda have ever pulled off. The variety of weapons was incredible and they all felt different and punchy, with solid sound effects. It was nice to see that enemies react to being shot, although there was definitely some Bethesda jank with enemies standing still behind corners or instantly running away, the AI definitely brought the gameplay down a notch, but I still enjoyed it. The overall feel to the movement was also a high point, and again a big step up from what Bethesda usually manages. I also enjoyed the voice acting, I found it to be very high quality throughout, and I had no issue with the lip syncing or facial animations, they were more than fine IMO.

I could see myself playing NG+ in the future, but the game needs a lot of patching before I do that.

Many peoples defense of the game is that there is so much you can do, whilst this is definitely true the inevitable retort to that is that not much of it is particularly well done. Whilst a few things Stand out amongst the rest, such as ship building which does have flaws but you may find yourself spending a massive chunk of your time on, much of the game falls flat. Generic and underwhelming combat, uncomfortable uncanny valley NPC interactions making the average voice acting and pretty vanilla personalities feel even worse and a slow to start storyline that you can tell is aiming to make the game feel large but largely falls flat not helped by one of the most strangely implemented fast travel systems I've ever come across? For a game that sold itself partly on the idea of exploration and immersion the decision to give the ability at times to travel from the very deepest part of an enemy lair on an obscure planet in a far out solar system to sometimes the front door of the quest giver on a planet light years away at the touch of a button and one loading screen seems wildly at odds with the experience I thought the developers were trying to create. This leaves one of the key parts of the game, space exploration, navigation and combat feeling quite disjointed and half baked.

In my 25 hours so far of trying to stick with the game after being repeatedly told it gets better, sometimes rather patronisingly by some more vehement defenders of the game that seem to think people not enjoying the first 12 hours is their problem and that they're somehow not entitled to an opinion until they enjoy the game, my overall experience can be best described as underwhelmed. Starfield feels like it got so lost on offering options that it forgot to make many of them memorable or Unique. Many people pinned some massive hopes on the game and the fact that's it playable and not a terrible experience seems enough for them to very strongly and rather arrogantly defend the game causing people who are dissatisfied or who were overhyped to strongly overreact and over critique the game. Whilst the game may gradually improve and become a better experience thanks to modders I don't feel this should really influence the rating of the game as it's sets a strange precedent for game designers and their decision making, therefore landing the game at 7.5 for me after a slow start that does get better with time and experience.

Edit: I'm now at the 36 hour mark and I'm done. I tried to stick with it, I tried switching up what I was doing every time I got really bored but the game is just so poorly paced whenever you try following any of the quests and the writing genuinely seems to get worse. It did get a little better in the middle of my experience but then it dropped off even more, I just find myself bored and frustrated so no I know the game is not for me... Dropped my score by one point as I feel if the game were really a 7 I could at least bring myself to finish the main story.

    - Spaceships land far away from their actual targets, why? As a result... a lot of walking!
    - No vehicles or animals to move on over 1000 planets (crazy enough)
    - An Outer Worlds (Obsidion - Fallout New Vegas) already offered more decision-making possibilities! Not to mention the titles of other manufacturers
    - Exploring the generated planets will be quite boring
    - The game doesn't manage to surprise me

    I can only emphasize positively:

+ Solid soundtrack but not quite as good as Skyrim
    + Good gunplay
    + Beautiful art design
    + Good speakers

Unfortunately, all elements in the game are only average. If you value story and dialogue, you should resort to the Mass Effect Series or Baldurs Gate 3. There is a better space experience in Everspace 2, Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous.
No man Sky also offers a lot from Starfield, was only there before and continues to work better.

Little has happened since Skyrim, but I spent hundreds of hours there and loved it. Somehow Bethesda seems to have stopped me. The development is progressing too slowly or my expectations were far too high. Spaceships, planets and SiFi.. a dream, unfortunately burst for me :/

There is no point in building an outpost or doing side missions, because the game itself is empty anyway. You can't have multiple spaceships down on the ground at the same time which limits your ability to transfer items between ships and the pacing of the levelling abilities seems weird, you have lots of research projects but can't do alot of them until you level up and really focus on trying to unlock those abilities at the cost of being able to play the game.

If you like a huge open RPG game and you're tired of post-apocalyptic or medieval fantasy types and are more into the sci-fi genre, you'll probably really like this game. Customization of the ship is a huge plus and you can spend hours just doing that. The first few hours the game are difficult because of its scale and vastness, where most games have you on a very specific track that eventually starts to broaden out after the first mission this game throws you into a situation where you can do whatever you want and deciding is hard. Do I stick with the main storyline? Do I take my ship out for a spin and see what's out there? Do I join the plethora of factions? If it weren't for some of the videos I would have been lost. The cons of the game are more about some of its mechanics. They're definitely not deal breakers at least for me but you can't help but feel a little bit deceived with the marketing. Navigating between wherever you are, your ship, other planets and even towns is not a straightforward as you would think. Plus there are loading screens were in previews and trailers you never saw them so it was a bit of a surprise to see that there are a lot of loading screens to transition you from one point to another. Again this is not a deal breaker just was not expected and I've pretty much adapted to it though it would have been nice to have more seamless transitions I chalk this up to more of technical challenges of making a game of this scale. Visuals though very impressive in a lot of ways, still have areas where it feels a little last generation. It's a very mixed bag but overall the quality and scale and look is quite impressive especially materials for clothing the ships and the overall detail of interiors while external details planets, forest areas or other outside graphics such as walking through a city range from looking a little sparse to exceptionally detailed. It's not fair to compare it to something like cyberpunk for multiple reasons though those comparisons will pop into your head. They are two very different types of games and cyberpunk bill exquisitely detailed is still just one very large city and not a thousand planets and I couldn't even imagine trying to get that level of detail on a scale this large it probably would have taken even longer by a few years and technology to catch up to implement that sort of scale. And this is coming from somebody who works both in the gaming and film animation CG industry. All in all I'm very pleased with it and it is sucked way more time out of my day since I got it than I thought it would and I'm almost afraid of how much time it's going to put in but I know I'm going to enjoy it as I've enjoyed the first hours of playing once I got past the what am I doing where should I go. Again I can't stress enough looking at a few videos for things I wish I had known and a general breakdown because the tutorials are not that intuitive and they definitely don't deep dive. You have the feeling that you've been put into the Olympics and someone tossed you in the water expecting you to compete without telling you how to swim. Last but not least I'm playing on both my Xbox series x and on a very very powerful PC. The lack of DLSS included is preposterous but at least some very ambitious modders have put them up so that you can utilize them. The game plays very well on the series x and you don't notice the much debated 30 frames per second because of how consistently smooth it is and the type of game it is. Visually The game of course will look better on a PC depending on your hardware setup and your resolution. I'm running it on an overclocked 3090 TI RTX and I'm enjoying it. Much sharper and detailed but you will either need the DLSS mod depending on what your hardware is and what resolution you plan on using. For me personally running a 1080p with a higher pixel per inch on a color calibrated monitor running at 60 hz looks fantastic but I know that some people must have the 4K and for that you will have to use DLSS if you want some pretty significant and clean FPS. That's all, love the game and plan on spending countless hours in it Hope you enjoy! Expand

My experience has been full of issues and mediocore gameplay. I will wait for more mods to spice it up and get back into it. Right now - hold off and buy on a sale.

This is a bunch of little bite sized levels masquerading as an open world rpg.

Half the planets look unlit, no shadows. The other half are deserts.

Cant dive underwater. Cant customize ship interiors. No reason to customize ship exteriors because space doesnt exist and ships are just houses reskinned.

No ground vehicles. Looks weird to see 100 percent pedestrians in a sci fi setting.

Hammer the sprint button and pray for the loadscreen to come faster.

Wont run properly on a 3070. No, the day one patch didnt fix this.

Water looks worse than Fallout 4. Lighting looks worse than Skyrim. Faces are plastic. Artificial materials (metalnand plastic) look decent.

No real time reflections. No global illumination. Where is this performance going? It runs worse than No Mans Sky or Cyberpunk, but with none of the cool parts of those games.

All you do is run, shoot, and collect rocks. How is this an rpg? Fewer, smaller cities than Skyrim. Too many invincible NPCs. Too many generic NPCs with no schedule and no life and little AI.

    Reskinned plants from Fallout 4.

I've played every Bethesda game since Arena, but this one is a letdown and makes me frightened for Elder Scrolls 6. Bethesda seems to be bleeding capability and moving backwards.

My first review on MetaCritic..and I really don't like this game that much. My expectation was, maybe they can combine what No Man's Sky and Star Citizen could offer, and with 7 years of development from Bethesda, it should be pretty darn awesome. It's not.

The good thing is, this game is free thru Game Pass, but it's really lacking on many crucial aspects, like there's no "actual" space traveling, graphics looks really not that good, and the optimization isn't that good either. No native DLSS (but works surprisingly well thru mods) due to the AMD deal, and FSR doesn't even works that well. The graphics looked greyed out for most areas.
Went back to the Xbox app and give No Man's Sky a try, and it was really fun. Guess I will try Star Citizen after that. Really disappointed.

    Cons
    * Slow start. It takes 8-10 hours before game gets going properly.
    * Exploration is the most boring part of the game.
    * 1000 empty planets as expected.
    * Outdated tech and gameplay loops. Game is stuck in 2002.
    * NPCs are horrendous - both companions and enemy AI might be some of the worst ever.
    * Terrible animations, often waiting until long NPC animations stop playing or trigger. No one in the game can do 2 things at the same time.
    * Lots of game breaking bugs with quest tracking, NPCs bugging out, double reloading glitches etc.
    * Constant loading screens and fast travel destroys immersion completely.
    * Map feel small, because it's all cut in small hub levels with loading between them.
    * Going in buildings still require loading screens, like it's 2002.
    * Only supports FSB2 out of the box. Have to mod in DLSS.
    * Settings that don't change anything. Not a lot of options. Not even FOV slider. Made for Xbox.
    * UI gets in a way to often. Can be fixed with mods.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
