**** of bethesda. It's only a space sci-fi themed Fallout, but everything that made Bethesda's previous games great, Starfield makes it worse, with Exploration Inexistence, bland planets, and a super-heavy introduction...

Played my first 10 hours and even though it's not the revolution one might have hoped for, it's a pretty good game. The graphics aren't completey "never seen before", but still the game is beautiful. I love the cities, each is unique and has it's own flair. It really feels like a modern Skyrim in space, and that's not a bad thing.

The richness of the Starfield universe is simply breathtaking. We often find ourselves contemplating breathtaking landscapes and admiring spectacular views from our spaceship. Exploration becomes endless pleasure, with every corner of space an invitation to adventure.

The game is not visually perfect. Some parts of the game may seem uneven in terms of graphical quality, but that doesn't detract from the overall experience. Despite its visual flaws, the game is mostly beautiful, thanks to its design and attention to detail at every level of the game.

In summary, Starfield is a video game masterpiece that takes us on an epic journey through the stars. Its richness, its generosity in well-written quests, its capacity to surprise, and its sense of exploration make it an essential game for any fan of science fiction and adventure. Despite some major imperfections, Starfield shines with its ability to captivate and amaze, reminding us why video games are an extraordinary way to experience incredible adventures. The game will undoubtedly last for many years.

Again a good hit from Bethesda. Funny after Microsoft released with Bioware the first Mass Effect, they now release the first Starfield being Mass Effect++ with probably a less appealing narration but still quite interesting for a first shot from Bethesda.

For a game people been waiting for since 2018. Its medicore at best. Funny enough I think that NMS did the space game type thing better. For the amount of time this took, and the games that got neglected by bethesda cause this game was priority is funny. This game isn't even optimized the best on pcs running a ryzen 9 and 4090. This is sad.

"Starfield vs. No Man's Sky: A Galactic Fiasco"

When it comes to space exploration games, the bar was set pretty low with the infamous launch of No Man's Sky. However, Starfield somehow manages to plummet even further into the abyss of disappointment. Comparing Starfield to No Man's Sky is like trying to decide which spaceship has more holes in it – they're both disastrous in their own right. Here's how Starfield manages to outdo No Man's Sky in the realm of galactic failure:

Graphics Downgrade: While No Man's Sky was criticized for its initial graphical promises, Starfield manages to pull off a downgrade of epic proportions. The visuals are shockingly outdated, with textures that make No Man's Sky's planets look like a work of art. Even with its rocky start, No Man's Sky eventually improved its graphics, whereas Starfield takes a step backward.

Content Void: No Man's Sky was initially lambasted for its lack of content, but over the years, Hello Games worked tirelessly to add substantial updates and features. In contrast, Starfield launches with an embarrassingly limited amount of content. It feels like an empty void, with little to see, do, or explore. No Man's Sky may have started as a barren landscape, but it evolved; Starfield, on the other hand, feels stagnant.

Glitch-Infested Space: Both games have their share of bugs, but Starfield takes it to a whole new level. It's as if Bethesda saw No Man's Sky's launch issues and decided to double down. From game-breaking crashes to hilarious physics mishaps, Starfield is a veritable smorgasbord of glitches.

Stale Gameplay: No Man's Sky faced criticism for repetitive gameplay, but Starfield somehow manages to make it even more boring. The endless scanning, resource gathering, and menial tasks feel like a punishment rather than gameplay. No Man's Sky may have had a rocky start, but it's since added depth and variety to its gameplay.

Lack of Innovation: No Man's Sky at least attempted to innovate the space exploration genre with its procedurally generated universe and ambitious concepts. Starfield, on the other hand, feels like a carbon copy of old space games with little to distinguish itself from its predecessors.

Microtransactions and DLC: No Man's Sky eventually introduced free updates that significantly improved the game, earning back some goodwill. Starfield, however, opts for the path of microtransactions and paid DLC, further frustrating players who expected a complete experience from the start.

In summary, Starfield's launch is a disheartening reminder of how a game can fail to learn from the mistakes of its predecessors. It manages to underperform in every aspect when compared to the comeback story of No Man's Sky. Bethesda's attempt at entering the space exploration genre feels uninspired, unfinished, and a disservice to gamers who were hoping for something truly stellar. Save your interstellar adventures for No Man's Sky – it's the lesser of two galactic disappointments.

Bethesda Support claims that the Intel Arc A770 does not meet the minimum requirements of an AMD Radeon RX 5700XT or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070Ti. This is clearly propaganda and a disgusting attempt by AMD to remove their true competitors (Intel Arc) from the GPU market. Instant Refund.

Its not perfect game, but its good continuation of F4. Probably this title has greatest mod potential. If u dont like F4 dont buy it.

Mostly you can complain about optimization, and not much settings below ultra. Only ultra is acceptable for today's standards. If u cant get minimum 40fps with ultra and not much resolution scaling u could try. Otherelse wait few years or maybe FSR3.0

If u're looking for boring game like Elite or repetetive docking places, settlements like NMS - its not same kind of exploration. This game is rather FPS game its more Mass Effect than procedural generated. I prefer more Starfield than NMS or Elite mix.

But as for now there is a lot to do for Bethesda to get game better. Its not best time for mods. If u like base building - there is a lot of map/management problems.

8/10, I gave it a 10 because the review bombing is a joke.

Pros: - Graphics are great and the game ran fine on ultra with 60 fps. - There're plenty of quests - The loading screens are quick, had few ignorable bugs and 1 crash in 25 hours - Mod support - Plenty of customization - Can choose how your character plays, can be a trader, a scavenger, a pirate, e.t.c.

60 hours in, and it may be the first Bethesda game I don't finish. It's... unfortunately just average. So average I'd call it often boring.

Exploration is disjoint, and all of the planets require you to walk 300-1000 meters (minutes of walking) with absolutely nothing to do but hold move, press jump, and occasionally scan or use a random tree. Most of the areas you find are empty caves

Exploration is disjoint, and all of the planets require you to walk 300-1000 meters (minutes of walking) with absolutely nothing to do but hold move, press jump, and occasionally scan or use a random tree. Most of the areas you find are empty caves or abandoned buildings with no one in them, or random "nature" structures (which while neat, get old quick with nothing to do with them). This is just what you do in No Man's Sky, which isn't a good thing. You can't avoid this; all too many mainline quests, side quests, and all power/ability unlocks require you walk these barren planets. No longer will you go from point A to B and find C,D,E,and F in-between or as a branch from that... you'll go from A, find nothing for minutes except "random" ore plants and fauna (No Man's Sky style "random" — basically just copy pastes), and reach B, and that's it.

Combat is decent, and the weapons are plentiful and entertaining, but unfortunately enemy variety is very poor. There are other types of enemy than bandit or regular human, but you will almost never see them. Even when you do, most enemies have awful AI. I rarely ever see the robots, and I've only seen alien enemies in dungeons a total of.... once so far. None of the human enemies have any special abilities or items; just skin and weapon damage type changes (you don't even get the variety spells provided skyrim mages/summoners). It's a huge drop in variety from Fallout or Elder Scrolls so far, and while there "may" be more, they are far too rare for no reason. The lack of variety makes it become stale.

Tutorials are awful, and menu guidance is bad. Did you know you could switch which direction you rotate items you are dragging around with shift? I didn't. You know what I bet? I suspect that most people don't even realize that the cover aim system from fallout 4 still exists. It was not explained there either, and 99% of people online don't seem to know that either Fallout 4 or this even has cover shooting mechanics (hint: get right behind the flat cover... now aim at it). The tutorial story also last very long compared to Skyrim (it's over after the dragon) or fallout (out of the vault/intro shack? Feel free to leave). Here I'm multiple main story missions in and I don't have powers, and I'm only pushing it now just to unlock them at some point.

Ship combat is not very good (and its issues show when playing on very hard). Effectively just a stat check if there are no asteroids for cover (do you have the piloting/thruster.lock-on skills in the passive tree required to make the ship combat actually work? Do you have a good enough ship?). With ground combat you can take enemies well above your level or area, but in ship combat that is not the case with many fights. A lot of limits here too: Got a ship crew? Want to assign them? Need more crew space. Got more space? Still need a higher level social perk. Want to have them in a second ship for a fleet? Not possible. Also costs the most credits for the part of the game with the least content so far, as though you can steal ships, you can't seemingly swap their parts to other ships like you can just equip new guns on the ground.

See this massive skill tree? You're going to spend a lot of time taking basic requires game perks to even play, such as: security/lockpicking level, basic ability to use ship movement mechanic (required to use better ships too), basic ability to use ship aiming/vats mechanic, basic carry weight (you start with the least of any Bethesda game), the stealth meter (seriously, the stealth meter at all). Mix this in with boring or completely useless perks like without flavor like "scanner range, mine extra ore, environmental resistance, grav drive fuel so you have to go through less fast travel menus... etc, and it gets frustratingly boring. Basic upgrades to crew member cap or the ability to put outposts on most special planets is locked behind over 12 skills points in the social and science trees... I just don't understand how we got there. Any of the fallout games legitimately have better perks and don't take basic mechanics and pretend they are perks. The basic mechanic ones could be fine if there were a ton of new special mechanics to unlock later on, but no, it's primarily disabled or limited existing mechanics. At least half of the tree is nonsense.

It's just... so aggressively flawed. It's not a terrible game and I do enjoy various parts of it, but this year is filled with so many excellent games it's absurd. There's no reason to pay so much for something that's this average (unless you are or are in dire need of an open world game I guess). Just get one of those other games and skip this for a steep sale.

I dont know if it is a game of the decade but it is for sure something new from scratch and this year only BG3 can compete, but these are so different games that they should not run in the same race.

At the end game is very good but not for me. BG3, also I never liked BG serie. and now turn based - bleeee.

I recently had the misfortune of playing a game that exemplifies everything that is wrong with the gaming industry today. From the abysmal optimization to the developers' complete disregard for the gaming community, this game is a prime example of how not to create an enjoyable gaming experience. i'll take my score back if they optimize it

First and foremost, let's talk about the optimization—or lack thereof. It's clear that the developers did not put any effort into optimizing the game for a wide range of hardware configurations. The result? An unplayable mess for the majority of gamers. Frame rates drop to single digits, stuttering and lag are constant companions, and even the most powerful systems struggle to run the game smoothly. It's a disgrace that in this day and age, developers can release a game that demands a $1000 GPU just to achieve a somewhat acceptable performance level.

What's even more infuriating is the developers' apparent indifference toward the gaming community. It's as if they have turned a blind eye to the countless complaints and pleas for optimization. Gamers have expressed their frustration and disappointment, but their voices fall on deaf ears. The developers seem to prioritize their relationships with GPU manufacturers over the very people who spend their hard-earned money on their games. It's a slap in the face to gamers everywhere who expect a product that is accessible and enjoyable.

It's clear that the developers are more interested in showcasing flashy graphics to appeal to the GPU sellers rather than focusing on creating a game that is well-optimized and enjoyable for the average player. They have forgotten that games should be designed to entertain and engage players, not just to serve as a showcase for expensive hardware.

In conclusion, this game is a prime example of everything that is wrong with the gaming industry. The lack of optimization and the developers' neglectful attitude toward the gaming community are unacceptable. It's disheartening to see a game that prioritizes aesthetics over accessibility, effectively shutting out a significant portion of the player base. Unless the developers can demonstrate a genuine commitment to improving optimization and listening to their community, they are of no use to the industry. Save your hard-earned money and steer clear of this disaster of a game.

No feeling of exploration, as you always use fast travel from the menus. I feel like the space ships are worthless. 5. Truly one of the best games I’ve ever played. It’s been out for a few days and I already have 25 hours on it. It’s the kind of game where you look at the clock and realize you’ve played 4 hours when you planned on 1. It’s so in depth, so much lore and so much to learn. Gunplay is a blast, rpg mechanics are amazing and it’s truly BGS best game ever, I genuinely believe that.

A solid Bethesda game, but still falls short. If you're expecting another Bethesda experience, you've got it. Just don't expect anything more. If you enjoy these games, it's a fun ride, but not without bumps.

Firstly I'll be comparing the game to another Bethesda game, Skyrim. Compared to Skyrim, the cities in Starfield are just as good, if not better. However, this comes with a price.

Firstly I'll be comparing the game to another Bethesda game, Skyrim.

Compared to Skyrim, the cities in Starfield are just as good, if not better. However, this comes with a price. There are too few handcrafted settlements to explore. It leaves the world's and galaxy feeling empty. This is supposed to be offset by the civilian outposts which are procedurally generated among planets you explore. In theory it's a cool idea, however it gets old fast. There are only so many types of outposts you can encounter, and they never have named NPC's. The quests they give will always be the "go kill this guy" type of quests with infinite variations. And the way they are randomly placed in the world and are devoid of meaningful characters reminds me of Minecraft villages. The worlds of Starfield don't feel immersive like Skyrim. There is a certain charm that's missing that comes with a handcrafted world. The way that the environment tells a story, the way the environment compels you to move to a point of interest, and the feeling of randomly stumbling onto some cool location, is missing in Starfield. Instead, points of interest (POI) are marked on you map and scanner, and you explore by just walking towards the POI on your compass. There is no stumbling onto some small scene that a dev lovingly put into a small corner of the map. Everything is procedurally generated outside of POIs. This is not the kind of exploration that's fun for me. The game suffers from a lack of weapon variety. For example for lasers, there's only 1 laser pistol, 3 rifles, and 1 heavy. It's really boring to have the same weapon model you had since the beginning of the game, with it just doing more damage. Skyrim had many different types of materials for weapons, and each had their own model. A greatsword had iron, steel, elven, orcish, and daedric variations. In Starfield I specced into lasers and pistols, and using one model for 28 levels was so disappointing. I'm disappointed because I thought Starfield would push Bethesda's boundaries, but it doesn't even match the level of Skyrim.

    Now, onto the good things.

The game is roleplaying friendly. I enjoyed the game the most when I leaned into roleplaying a starship captain. Because let's be honest, Bethesda aren't known for their in depth combat systems. It's combat is serviceable. Lean into it's strength as an RPG and you'll have a good time.

Building ships is great fun. The builder is a little clunky, but if you can get past it there's a lot of fun to be had. You can make ships of all shapes and sizes, and it just works. It's something you can sink your teeth into, and I appreciate that. A complaint I have is that you cannot buy a ship part, and store it to use later. You need to be physically present at the ship yard in order to use that part. This forces you to travel many times to many different shipyards, back and forth.

In conclusion, Starfield is a solid Bethesda game with many flaws, but still fun in the end. 7/10.

It feels outdated all they way, the mechanics are the same from every other game from bethesda, they have not changed anything in 15 years, the IA its the most basic, dialogues and storyline are vague and simple, nothing interesting. There is no reason to explore planets since they dont really exist in the game, they are procedural generated portions of map that repeat assests over and over, its irrelevant what planet you visit, you can explore all the assets in a single planet just generating new portions of map all over it. It does not feel like im travelling through galaxies and systems at all. Loading screens, eventho they are 2 seconds, are annoying and breaks any inmersion the game could generate into the player, the game is not a big galaxy or map to explore like previous games, but small portions of map you have to load through to get to your destination, way too many loading screens and teleports to everywhere, there is no journey to a new location where you encounter random things on the way and end up doing something else. In general an OK game, I wish bethesda would be more ambitious in their games, this is not the most ambitious game from Bethesda. Just the continuation of what they have already done for the last 15 years or more, but now with space aestethics. Expand

As for Starfield, it was a complete miss for me,
Ai that was worse than their 12yr old skyrim game, horrible inventory, lackluster story, tons of loading screens, universe that feels completely dead, lack of space exploration, it is mostly just "load to the next planet" type gameplay, planets in most circumstances feels the same.
I had such high hopes for Starfield, kinda hoped for an epic space exploration type RPG, that would scratch my freelancer itch, but it was nothing like that.
And the Ai just felt insanely emotionless, no situational awareness with the story, buggy companions.
Just overall doesn't feel like a 2023 type of game.. it would maybe have been a success for me if it was released in 2005-2010.

The dialogues options are so blend and the characters so not convincing, graphics are inequals, loading screens in 2023...No maps, over 1k planets but nothing to do (they rely on their modding community to do all the work in that department). NO FKIN AMMUNITIONS. no meaningful choices. The whole game is boring and the inventory is the worst. The game consists in : go to my ship through the same animation, loading screen then select a system another loading screen and animation, then select a planet, same loading and animation, then select a landing zone (generally two or three if you're lucky but you won't have any chance to enter atmosphere manually its all animated) so its a fake exploration, you can even not spend anytime into space and just fast travelling. Lots of bugs contrary to what has been said. Persuasion system is basic, RPG components are basics. Character creation is ok. NPC display the same behavior since Oblivion that has been subject of constant mockery but doesnt seem to bother Bethesda since decades, nothing is explained on the game but its not like if it was Elden Ring as in meant to be opaque because you have to discover for yourself and that it is rewarding, here its just lazy and confusing. But, since there is a flood of 'gamers' that are cannibalizing this game for clout or just to join in on the beatdown, dismissing an otherwise great game for irrational reasons or reasons that exist outside the game itself.

For that reason I am rating 10/10 Game of the Century, because posting sincere, rational

You are carrying too much to write this review... the amount of playtesting this game must of went through and yet the menus are absolutely garbage, the carry limit is too small, the amount food items heal you is ridiculous.. 3HP

Pc optimization is poor and the game is buggy. No DLSS without modding is brain melting.

    Meh.

Horrible performance, a bad PC port and a game that is so dated really make this one a medicore experience.

It's a Bethesda game through and through and you get that unique feeling of a game, but the quality is abysmal in some parts and I can't just ignore that.

It makes me very sad to read these reviews from a lot of people who give such low ratings for nothing, ok you didn't like the game but it doesn't deserve a 0, a 3 or a 5. For me it's a good old fashioned game, they are no longer seen like this, now they are all the same to try to please the average user, instead Starfield manages to be faithful to itself and its predecessors. Do you want to spend more time on the ship with more detailed characters? You have mass effect. Want to explore more space? you have No Man's Sky. Starfield is a different game, just compare things otherwise we would have a copy of a copy of a copy. Play it and have fun. Expand

Инди студия Bethesda перевела игру на 9 языков. Вырезали русский язык. 30fps.
Даже игру на паузу нельзя поставить во время диалога что бы уловить суть происходящего на языке которым слабо владеешь. Подожду Spider man 2. Там и русский и 60 fps.

Like many here, played it for an hour then couldn't bear it.

-got to kree or atlantis or whatever it is the first big city, to find that all npc's are worse than skyrim's 2011 npcs which were more interesting to interact with , in this game they're absolute robots looking
creepily at you (yes that creepy lady npc meme staring at you is literally there in the first big city i screenshot her myself) How can you downgrade from skyrim npc's of 2011? your own creation?
-speaking of creepy, gets us to the animations, you talk to sarah and her crew and any remaining bit of immersion is broken by a robot staring at you which is the main character, like at least put some effort in making her facial expressions, and you have the resources goddamit
    - the screen zooming in dialogue on the characters face which is an oblivion 2006 mechanic amplifies the last point by forcing you to stare into the bozo robot npc staring into your soul
    - the game requirements are demanding somehow yet the graphics are worse than these games i played this year: hogwarts legacy, rdr2, spiderman remastered. 3 open worlds i played this year not to meantion all the linear games. runs much worse than all of them while looking worse. just pain.

*Main reason i played this in the first place is to get a glimpse of what bethesda can accomplish with my most anticipated title TES6, and boy am I worried.

'll start off by saying I am a huge fan of Bethesda Game Studios. The work that Todd Howard, Pete Hines and the rest of the team do is amazing and you don't see many game studios put so much time and love into their games like BGS does. I have countless hours and memories over the years from playing Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim, Fallout 4 and now Starfield.

    Starfield
Starfield has blown me away. They've gone above and beyond and I feel like it's their best game yet. The depth in this game is unbelievable! You could spend hours just in one little area getting lost in the lore and exploring where you don't even realize you've spent so much time only exploring a tiny fraction of the game for hours. It feels like there are multiple games within the game to give it that depth. You could spend hours just walking around on land and then realize you've spent the whole day without even doing any space stuff and vice versa.

Really excited to keep playing and exploring. I can't wait to see all the endless possibilities that mods are going to bring to this game. I think this will be the most moddable game of any BGS game which only adds to the endless replay value. The vanilla game is going to keep me busy for a very very long time though!

    Space RPG
One thing to note: This is not a space simulation game, it is a very very detailed BGS RPG so there are loading screens and there is no atmospheric flight. This has not bothered me at all, I rarely use fast travel and I RP out walking back to my ship and grav jumping without opening my menu/map all the time to make it more immersive. If you want a space simulation game there are games out there for that. If you want a space RPG with a ton of gameplay, content and depth then look no further than Starfield!

I highly recommend this game and look forward to seeing it evolve over the years!

    For all, into the Starfield!

nice game,a lot of content and dialogue, and the graphic is awesome.
BUT, these things are all in a mess.
i'm using a RTX4090 PC but the gameplay is not OK, drop frame and low frame(under 80) keep me away from exploring further in second run. i will no longer complain about the loadings, but it also has TOO MANY BUGS.
I will give 0 until it fix all these issues.

Worst BGS game, even worse than Fallout 76. Is like No mans sky but with Bethesda´s common bugs and design. Campaign is meh but space exporation is a joke.

An absolute masterpiece. I'm grateful for Gamepass. It helped me get in touch with my game of the year. I can't decide if to get it on Steam or not. I probably will. This is one is worth it.

Жаль, что далеко не все поиграют в это. Нейросеть действительно сделала всё тонко. Не так уж много модов на TES II:Daggerfall в наше время. Потребовалось 20 лет чтобы получилось интересно и необычно.

There's a lot of flaws in space in Starfield. But that does not prevent me from exploring our galaxy again and again.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
