Starfield leaves me with many questions. Why is the game opening so dull? Why do the majority of NPCs have creepy bug eyes? Are we all going to look semi-amphibian in the future? Why are there no FOV and HDR settings? Why are there still load screens to enter small buildings and shops in 2023? Why does Todd Howard refer to this as a next gen game? Why is FSR so bad? Why the poor optimisation for such an average looking game?

If I was to answer my own questions I'd say Bethesda simply do not have the talent anymore for these kind of games. I actually preferred Outer Worlds to this game and I never loved that game that much. Letdown of the year and back to Baldurs Gate 3 I go.

How big was the hype... But what do we have here? A game with extremely bad synchronization. Countless bugs. Ugly faces... The whole game looks like a Fallout with a new coat of paint.
The game is not bad, but not good either.

A fitting comparison would be Elex 2.

Baldur's Gate 3, for example, is a whole other world of quality in every way.

Be realistic, THERE IS NO OPTIMIZATION. I won't take back this comment/review unless you make huge differences about optimization and 60 fps mode. Indoor areas have different FPS, outdoor spaces have different FPS and the ship itself has completely different FPS. Sick of fps drops and changes. This optimization deserves this score at most. Bethesda had the chance to craft a masterpiece, but...

-AI: An "artificial intelligence" where the "intelligence" part is notably missing.

-Difficulty: When you ramp up the game's difficulty, all you get is enemies with more health that turn into bullet sponges.

-Spaceships: Extremely simplistic spaceship combat, plus you can't travel freely. This makes spaceship customization wholly irrelevant and merely cosmetic.

-Content: Many entirely empty planets, and yes, I understand it's a game set in space, which is mostly void... but above all, it's a game. And a game with so much empty content is a mediocre game. Period.

-Narrative: Nothing standout. Characters lack charisma.

    - Technical Aspects: Poor optimization. No native HDR support. No native DLSS support. No Ray Tracing. Technically, it's like a 2010 Indie game.

Despite everything, the game is enjoyable, and I'm having a good time playing it. However, I can't turn a blind eye to Bethesda's laziness and complacency.

Melhor RPG do ano!! Recomendo!!

"Starfield feels like it was produced in the past and certainly doesn't belong to 2023. The planets and landscapes are utterly barren. Cities are lifeless, and NPCs lack any meaningful depth.

While the game offers an abundance of quests, it still falls short. Starfield feels outdated and lifeless. Even compared to Skyrim, it can be considered less modern and vibrant."

In the same vein, Fallout went from having robust rpg systems and learning curve, through F3 which changed the formula to fallout 4 which was stripped of most of its rpg elements and turned into a shooter with vats, still it was worth exploring cause the world was hand crafted and there was **** to discover.
That leads us to Midfield, with which Bethesda completely abandoned any pretense of trying. Either they dont care anymore or they simply dont have the people who brought quality to their games. Nothing that made Bethesda games good or enjoyable is here. Exploration is a waste of time, most planets are straight up empty and added only to increase size of the shallow puddle. There is no world/universe building or history to speak of. No deep systems to engage with, other than building your own ship if you are into that, but why would you if the space battles are mostly skippable and the space combat is attrocious and ship travel between and within planets is just a cutscene. Skill tree would be good enough if the skills worked as they are supposed to. Combat itself is horrid, melee isnt viable at all and gunplay has no weight behind it, plus the variety of gun types is pathetic. Even more pathetic is the variety of enemy types, its pretty much nonexistent, there is no intelligent non human life btw, few useless monster types, but 90% of the time you are fighting humans, in case of bosses, they are half humans, half sponges, some teleport. Writing is dog****, the dialogues are waste of time, following the "story" is a waste of time, trying to get to know your companions is a waste of time and the twist at the end is the most cliche scifi trope anyone could imagine. And its full of ugly npcs and ESG slop bethesda gladly servers you in excess of whats mandated to meet the quota.
In other words, there is no way to play starfield and make it enjoyable, if you have any standards for quality of anything. Be it the story, worldbuilding, exploration or combat. Unless you are proffesional ship designer, starfield has nothing to offer you.
Oh and everything I said concerns only the vision and idea of the game itself, even if the game was polished and technically sound, it would still be mediocre in every way, but ofc its not technically sound, its plagued with bugs and disgusting optimazation.

You force yourself to play this game, despite most of it being quite bad, because there's a small portion that's somewhat fun. But soon, you just can't take it anymore and quit, realizing you're just wasting time. While you might find a fun quest or activity here and there, they're short-lived and soon you're back to the boring parts.

This game tries to do a lot but fails at most of it, resulting in a pretty disappointing experience overall:

In its attempt to make a mark in the space gaming category, it falls flat in many areas. The spaceship is not very flexible and its movement options during the loading phase are limited, which diminishes the excitement. The worlds you can explore mostly feel empty or repetitive, featuring the same kinds of locations and enemies over and over. There are some artistically pleasing cities to visit, but exploring them is boring due to the poor RPG elements. The characters you meet there mostly just wander around with nothing interesting to say, a big step back from the daily routines characters had in games like Skyrim.

When it comes to RPG elements, the game also falls short. The missions feel too scripted and limited, preventing you from exploring different approaches and making you feel more like a puppet than a player with freedom. The story doesn't change much based on your choices, and the missions themselves are repetitive, making for a bland RPG experience. Even though it offers many missions, the lack of diversity makes the game feel small and uninteresting.

Comparing it to Baldur's Gate 3, another RPG, highlights the shortcomings even more. While BG3 gives you a real sense of influence over the world and engages you mentally with various ways to approach missions, this game doesn't. Here, your choices don't matter much and the gameplay is predictable, leaving you feeling more like a spectator than a participant.

Not to mention, there are also technical and optimization issues, along with frequent crashes that ruin the experience even more. The game not only falls short in terms of gameplay but also feels incomplete and outdated. It comes off as a less impressive version of Fallout 4 but with a space theme slapped on it, making it seem like it's lagging way behind in the evolution of RPGs.

If you check Steam you’ll see most reviews are positive. These are people that actually played the game.
It's not perfect. There are some technical aspects that could have been avoided. The lack of DLSS, HDR not working as expected and it's a demanding game. But all these are minor issues. Baldur's Gate 3 suffers from more pronounced framerate issues specially on Act 3 and that hasn't resulted in many negative reviews. Starfield runs better on my PC than BG3. Baldur's Gate 3 also has loading between exteriors and interiors but for some reason, in that style of game it's not a problem. Why this double standard?
There is a real issue with social media these days. Some people think it's cool to hate the big studio and its cool to support the rising star. So Larian Studios has been in the community good grace since the Divinity Original Sin days and now Bethesda is awful. People expected Starfield to be a game filled with bugs before it even came out. The reality is that it's one of the most if not the most stable release Bethesda ever made. CD Projekt Red faced the same ups and downs. Hero one day, villain the next. People seem to be losing objectivity and just following the herd.
So, without getting into spoilers these are the type of things you can expect from Starfield:

Starfield much like past Bethesda games, other MMOs and survival games, it starts slow. But as you explore the universe you start to find things that really show why Bethesda is so well known for creating open world RPGs. But you won’t realize it if you just play the game for a couple of hours. If you start from a skeptical position and are not open to immerse into the Starfield universe you will dismiss the game before the game can reward you with some of the best features, quests and other content.
    - Understand what you are getting into. This is a game where you can find quests everywhere.
With several major quest lines that cover different sci-fi flavors. From Firefly, to Cyberpunk style places, to Interstellar. You can build your own spaceships. Fully mod your armor, weapons. Have multiple bases.
You will find places in space where you will be exploring in Zero G. Despite not being a space sim focused game, you will be surprised by some of the events that will happen to you as you fly around. Space combat is indeed challenging and fun. It is not a full space sim but it is enough to give you that feeling.
The “dungeons” vary from caves, industrial complexes, Doom style sci-fi bases as well as starbases of all kinds and other ”places” I will not disclose to avoid spoilers. They are diverse and fun to explore. FPS combat is challenging and fun and as you unlock more skills and get better weapons it becomes more and more addicting.
Not everything is perfect but the game is stable, mostly bug free.
Is it a perfect game? No. But it does give you the feeling that you are exploring different worlds. Finding interesting things. The huge number of quests and interesting places to visit really immerse you as you progress.
Personally, what I love the most is that the universe feels alive with a lot of fun activities combining elements from other games. I can explore a planet and get some of the aspects of No Man's Sky, but then I find a pirate base and have truly fun combat experience. Afterwards I go to a major city and interact with dozens of interesting characters that give me missions and goals. Other scifi games have their advantages but none combine so many elements into one package with a AAA feel.
So this is Starfield. Skyrim in Space.
This is the best open world space themed scifi RPG right now. If you think there is a better alternative please, share. Outer Worlds? No this one is better, bigger in every way. Star Citizen? Unfinished. No Man's Sky? It's a pure survival/exploration game. Not a AAA style RPG. Cyberpunk? Not set in space. No ships, bases and other exploration related content. Everspace 2? Space focused. No ground exploration.
Starfield is the only AAA game that combines elements made popular in several space theme scifi games into a package. It's not perfect but it's the best right now.
And with modding support, space has no limits.

Olha, não me levem a mal.

In this vast expanse of gaming galaxies, one title has emerged, eclipsing its counterparts with an extraordinary brilliance - Starfield, the space exploration RPG that has ignited the imaginations of gamers around the globe. With its captivating universe, immersive gameplay, and limitless potential, Starfield is a celestial voyage that beckons to all, from seasoned spacefarers to those just venturing into the astral realms of gaming.

From the very moment you embark on your odyssey through Starfield's digital cosmos, you'll be drawn into a meticulously crafted universe that stretches beyond imagination. The attention to detail in this game is nothing short of breathtaking. Each celestial body, every cosmic anomaly, and all the intricate space stations feel meticulously designed, making it a joy to explore every corner of this astral frontier. The visual allure is complemented by an equally impressive soundscape, featuring an epic musical score and immersive sound effects that lend depth to every facet of your interstellar adventure.

At the heart of Starfield lies a narrative as vast and compelling as the cosmos itself. You step into the boots of a spacefaring adventurer, tasked with mapping uncharted territories, forging alliances with enigmatic alien species, and making decisions that echo through the cosmic expanse. The storytelling is masterful, with branching dialogues that offer meaningful choices and consequences. It's a narrative experience that's both profoundly personal and cosmically grand, a true testament to the power of storytelling in gaming.

One of the standout features of Starfield is its open-ended exploration. The game empowers you to captain your very own starship, allowing you to chart your unique course through the cosmos. Whether you're an intrepid explorer in search of new horizons, a savvy trader looking to amass wealth, or a gallant defender of the galaxy, the choice is yours. The freedom and agency you have in shaping your character's destiny is liberating and distinguishes Starfield from other titles in the genre.

Of course, no space exploration RPG would be complete without a robust spacecraft system, and Starfield delivers in spades. You can customize and upgrade your ship to match your preferred playstyle, from nimble, agile vessels designed for high-speed dogfights to colossal capital ships brimming with firepower. The ship combat mechanics are exhilarating, and the sense of mastery you feel as you engage in epic space battles is immensely satisfying.

Yet, the heart of any RPG lies in its characters, and Starfield introduces a memorable cast of diverse and fascinating personalities. From enigmatic alien species to charismatic fellow adventurers, each character you encounter feels like a genuine inhabitant of this cosmic tapestry. Building relationships and forming alliances with them is not only a key gameplay element but also one of the most rewarding aspects of the experience.

What truly sets Starfield apart is its commitment to scientific accuracy. While it takes creative liberties in envisioning a future among the stars, it also strives to adhere to the laws of physics and the known principles of space exploration. This attention to detail adds a layer of authenticity that's both educational and awe-inspiring. It's a rarity to find a game that can entertain and educate simultaneously, and Starfield accomplishes this feat admirably.

As you venture deeper into this expansive universe, you'll uncover a multitude of quests, mysteries, and challenges that will keep you engaged for countless hours. The game's longevity is further enhanced by a thriving online community, where you can collaborate with other players, join factions, and participate in epic space battles. It's a testament to the game's enduring appeal that, years after its release, it continues to evolve and expand.

In conclusion, Starfield stands as a radiant testament to the zenith of modern gaming achievements. Its amalgamation of awe-inspiring visuals, immersive storytelling, open-ended exploration, and scientific accuracy positions it as a true gem within the genre. Starfield beckons you to embark on an unforgettable journey through the cosmos, where every choice you make has cosmic consequences, and every discovery is a marvel. So, heed the cosmic call, and prepare to immerse yourself in the finest space exploration RPG of our era. Get around it, for Starfield is a gaming experience that's truly out of this world!

For me, this title is everything No Man's Sky isn't, and it is on day 1. A space exploration game with an appealing story and characters and somewhat meaningful stuff to do on planets.

It's impossible to create something like this without incurring some inconveniences such as loading times, procedural content repetition, or fast travel from a map! Not sure what the alternative is since you know, we are talking about space travel here.

Procedural content will get old quickly but is the search for that bit of hand-crafted content what makes you want to go to the next marker.

The story for me is pretty decent and surprises you every step of the way, giving you plenty of choices. The characters are appealing and the game makes me care about my companion's fate, and how my choices affect them. In a way none of the previous Bethesda titles did.

The graphics are a bit outdated, but I definitely do not care as long as the game core is decent.

Sure, it might not have the charm of TES or Fallout, but this is a new IP that has a lot of potential. It combines the best of Fallout and TES in one package.

After +25hours played I haven't even done many side quests so I feel I'm barely scratching the surface.

Not a 10 (maybe a 9) but other reviews are ridiculous, so just trying to compensate here

this is a amazing game with a massive universe and story, really good to dive in and live a life you can not experience in real life.
this is the best game of Bethesda. i love their games and the way they make their games. anyone who rates it under 8, has nothing to do with Bethesda games or they are simply a biased player. I know lots of ps fans who made several accounts just to disrate

Bland game, should have been much more than fallout 4 in space. Let that sink in. It’s the same as an 8 year old game.

Don't go into this game expecting No Man's Sky or Elite Dangerous, this Is not a space sim. It is a Bethesda style RPG set in space, and it does that perfectly, it is a passion project through and through. At first its a bit clunky to get used to the systems, and is fairly slow to start, but once it gets going, it all becomes worth it.

Of course there are still issues present, as with all

Of course there are still issues present, as with all games, but a lot of them are being played up massively. Character models? 99% of the time are perfectly fine. The invisible walls around each area is something you'll interact with rarely, with each area taking 1.5 hours of moving to cross from one wall to the next. Base and ship building are both fun gameplay loops, and can easily take up hours of playtime if that's what you want to do. Exploration is very fun too, and while a lot of the barren planets become quite similar after a while, there is always something to do om each planet/moon, with loads of random encounters too, which the same can be said in space. There are endless role-playing opportunities, want to be a pirate attacking settled space? Go for it. A smuggler? Yes, you can play however you want.

And when mod support releases, the longevity of this game will skyrocket with endless potential.

Starfield is the culmination of everything Bethesda has been building in the past 20+ years, and it shows.

This is another great BGS game, a fantastic open world sandbox experience. While yes, exploration is tackled differently this time around, it's still an absolute joy when you got used to it. So many interesting locations, people, stories, creatures and planets to find.

It took some time for me to warm to Starfield, initially I was taken aback by the lack of depth in some features that were highlights of previous Bethesda games. But overall, I think enough new mechanics have been added to equal the scale on what was stripped back. Beyond that though? The expansiveness of the galaxy really tips things in Bethesda's favor. It's amazing to have that feeling once again of being able to pick a random spot and go - Be whoever. BGS games are the only games that can deliver that feeling for me, and Starfield isn't any different. Sure, it has shortcomings among other BGS games, but it's overall still a seminal gaming experience. Expand

The game is massive, and it's awesome that you can cloud sync the saves to XBOX.

I wish it had vehicles though, it'd be cool to be able to drive/fly around on the planet rather than just having the boost pack.

In any case, it's still an amazing game. I'm 25h in and the biggest problem I have with the game is need to go to work and can't play it all day.

Constant crashes started in New Atlantis and prevented any progress and force me to refund. The game also seemed poorly optimized as I had to put graphical settings on low to achieve decent fps, on a decent PC that runs most of the recent games on high setting. The image on low settings was very blurry and made it hard to properly see enemies at a certain distance. This game deserves clearly a 8 on 10.
BGS made one, if not their best foundation for modding.
    Im 100+ hours in.

Why I put 10? To counter PS fanboys and anti BGS scums who think that rating Starfield 0 without ever playing it is a good idea. Fck the review bombers.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
