I feel like the game could become great by just adjusting some numbers and adding minor qol changes and just throwing in as much new and maybe even unbalanced stuff as they can. But they won't. The Devs have shown time and time again, that they want to move in the opposite direction of what the community wants.

There's just a severe lack of content in every single aspect like combat, loot, crafting and social. This sounds exaggerated, but there are actually dozens of small indie games with multiple times the amount of depth in every single aspect of the game.
Now, instead of even trying to fix the problems, the devs decided to slow down the game in every single patch. It's getting slower and more boring by the day, which definitely isn't the right direction here according to the community.

If the game was just fixed it might very well be an above average game, if the devs worked together with the community it might even become a good game. They somehow managed to nerf the game from a solid 5 to a 2-3 at best, though, so lets not get our hopes up.

I keep getting crap gear 1500 points lower than what I'm wearing. The stats on the gear sucks, and you can only change one and the options you get are not impressive or worth the gold! And now the patch notes and a bunch of things being nerfed just isn't cool. Yet the mobs will still stun lock you, or overkill you with poison, fire, ice whatever they want. Not to mention hell tides now cost more to get the mystery chest that drops unimpressive gear 98% of the time it seems. So yeah I feel it was a waste of $90 bucks and we each got a copy. We mostly live paycheck to paycheck but made sure to save up to buy it so we could play early and all that. The story was good, we've enjoyed diablo 3 in the past. This just isn't great and kinda sad it is already going downhill. I think we've learned a lesson though and won't be pre-ordering any more games until they've been out a while so we can see where they are going and if they are worth it. Expand

After they released the patch notes for season 1 It has become very clear that they couldn't care less about the players. Couldn't recommend the game at this state.

They must have used the same group that made cataclysm in wow because that was the last time I saw so much potential get ruined ... the constant changes to everything every week makes it not even worth trying to get gear because your build is just going to change next week patch 1.1 just nerfed every class I haven't seen or heard a single person say something good about it

The cost is far too high for a very unpolished game
One of the five classes (sorcerer) is forced to be a melee character in mid/late game
The Devs are clearly focused on making this an arpc without action, the patches simply slow down and make the game very slow. If you want to spend 10 hours having some fun then spending your time waiting for cooldowns and not having much to do in end

Absolutely horrendous nerfs to just about everything in the game in the most recent patch (July '23), with no attention given to any of the legitimate and easy to implement QOL improvements requested by the player base. If you were thinking about buying D4, don't. It has a lot of potential but the devs have made it clear that they don't care about player experience.

That loyalty has since been plagued by incredible ignorance and ineptitude by the developers leaving the game feeling like an over-whittled plank of driftwood, with none of it's luster or sheen left over from the fine mahogany log it took years to cultivate.

There is a framework here that could have allowed stats and aspects to prop up nearly any build a player wished to build, but instead created the same niche-only game design we've seen from so many ARPGs in the last decade. With constant dilution hitting the games mechanics, the resulting gunk has little substance, and causes an already unpleasant grind to feel akin to quicksand.

On the cusp of their first season, the final legs of this framework are being shattered, and splintered, leaving little reason to attend.

I loved being able to pop in once or twice a week for a couple hours and actually make some progress. The latest patch was just created to make everything take so much longer to get through. I'm not sure if they just needed to slow things down to keep the more hardcore players going until they could create more content or what the reasoning was, but if they wanted to go this route, it would have just been nice to have an option for more of a casual option vs a hardcore player option where they could choose that more brutal experience. That may not be realistic, but I think they went too far too fast and just crushed my hopes for this game.

I remember a few of the reviews I watched stated that the game was for the more casual player that loved Diablo 2 and wanted to experience some of that nostalgia. That is why I purchased the game for $70 in the first place, but I feel like that was money well wasted at this point. Disappointing turn of events for sure.

Without trading and game lobbies it's rare I see another player. End Game is so unbelievably boring and so are the items. There isn't a single item I found that I could tell you it's name besides some of the uniques they brought from D2, but made worthless. I did enjoy playing this game for a while, got a rogue to level 77 that could easily do WT4, but have completely lost interest and haven't touched the game in 4 weeks. It really feels like Blizzard has completely lost touch with their player base. I'll be skipping season 1, and the game in general, until they fix this mess they created. Expand

If it was 40$ I'd consider it worth it for the campaign. With how barebones everything else is including non-existent social features, major problems with hit detection on instant death abilities, and that their first major patch was just completely tone deaf, I don't have much hope for the long-term prospects of this game.

At launch, the game was a slog at best - player power kept in check by every enemy levelling up alongside you, from start to finish. There is no feeling powerful in this game, even in the starting area. But with Patch 1.1, player power and progression has been significantly gimped even further, to the point where you have to wonder what the motive could possibly be.

And I think the motive is to cover up the fact that the game lacks any sort of depth or interesting loot whatsoever. Gems are worthless. Uniques are just souped up rares with a random aspect on em, that you can extract. Items don't have any identity beyond arrow up or arrow down. Crafting is basically nonexistent, and choice of skills and character builds has been dumbed down even compared to Diablo 3.

It's the action RPG without action, without interesting loot, without depth in character builds, and also you'll be running across the entire world - a huge empty map - for fetch quests over and over. Just walking. And you don't get a mount until you beat the main campaign for some reason.

Also, they're pinging you to check out and preview microtransactions whenever a new one becomes available... each costing upwards of a third of what you paid for the game. Complete insanity.

On merit of its game systems, it's not worth playing BUT
    Combat and visuals are solid.
Story, writing and voice acting is solid.
For those two, I award one point each. If you *really* care about the lore, consider dragging yourself through the campaign once. 2/10

New game released with broken mechanic and stats, example: the most basic stat in arpg "Resistance" is broken upon game release, In live stream, dev team acknowledge resistance is FUBAR, it MIGHT get fix by season 2, because it’s complex, maybe beyond season 2.

QoL improvement, low inventory space/stash, game are zoom in too close make vision area small, Horse speed etc, paragon board reset cost, bloated gear stats, etc. just to name a few

Yes it's a new game just released, there will be areas need improvement. after 1.5 month of hearing players feedback, season 1 patch released, what did they do? they focus on NERF all class, not balance each class, they blanket nerf the class. result? those strong class became average, those weak class got even weaker to a point not enjoyable, unless you do cookie cutter builds.

How bad is the patch? remembers dev team acknowledge "Resistance" is broken, which cost player lost a layer of defense, this effect most on the sorcerer class because it's main stats INT are link to the "resistance", so the class is naturally in a defense stats disadvantages, most build had to sacrifice offense skill slot to fit in 3~4 defense skill to make builds efficient.

Guess what dev team did in Season 1 patch, they remove the armor gems replaced with "Resistance" heart (it new name for gems). LOWER THE BASE ARMOR FOR ALL CLASS. Reduce the CD reduction stats on gear (now the cd are longer).

How they address the shallow content with season 1 patch? they REDUCE the XP gain from those 3 repeat activity, so now it will take us longer to reach our goal.

Those are just few example of the disconnect from the dev team. If refund is available, I'll do it in a heart beat.

BTW, guess what dev team told the player on live stream 3 week after game release, when they were asked about content, "it's ok to stop playing". W.T.F, We paid for the game, and you tell us not to play it? so we don't complain the game's short coming, which is a direct reflection on the dev team?

Would you buy a game when dev told it's ok not to play it?
