If Blizzard didn't have stupid 2-hour gameplay rule refund policy, I would have filed for refund long ago. Played for 3 weeks.
Balance doesn't exist even among classes. Level 55 Barbarian easily outdamages level 75 Necro.
There's no build variety. Each class has only one viable endgame build. Difficulty spike after campaign is insane. On Torment you can be one hit killed by regular mob.

Glyph upgrade system that involves Nightmare dungeons with even higher difficulty is insane. Of course, you don't have to go to higher difficulties, but you will never have unique items and will not be able to upgrade glyphs.

The only two things good about the game is visual design and optimization hence 1/10

Pre-ordered the game because I had a lot of fun playing their beta test. Since launch there were a few hiccups, but things were looking positive, with a lot of hopium balancing on the table to make the game better. Then come season 1 patch, this really showcase that D4 devs doesn’t **** know what they’re doing, and a bunch of morons. Classic Blizzard.

You can tell they deliberately held back features from previous games to drip feed as new content which feels pretty icky. Allegedly an mmo but you won't see other players, it's just a good way of making live service I guess? There's no match making etc seen in other games because there's no activities to funnel those players into even if they did match.

Sorry for the salt! Hopefully some people will enjoy thus more than I did. But in my opinion a very lack luster gamer.

The game came out in a very bad state. Non-working skills, disgusting balance, complicity in exploitation.
The next solutions to problems are not earlier than 4-6 months.
The price of the game is clearly too high.

I purchased this game on 7/16.....horribly long d/l time for my 1 GB internet....maxed at 8 MB/s, avg. 6. ok fine, maybe BNET is just busy. Game looks nice, graphics aren't particularly great outside of cut-scenes and even then, SC2 and D3 looked pretty much the same. Maybe my RTX 2080, i9 and 32 GB just doesn't cut it anymore. Storyline seems vaguely interesting, but in a few hours of play on 7/16 and 7/17, i was disconnected from server at the end of 3 separate dungeons. Blizzard refuses to help or fix the issue. It seemed this was ongoing from the number of complaints. As many others are experiencing, all Blizzard will do is point you to a forum with unsuccessful fixes and tell you that your ISP is the issue (i've got guaranteed 99% uptime and i experience relatively zero network issues during my gaming sessions, so understandably my ISP took offense to this accusation).

With this in mind, I requested a refund as I had played the game less than maybe 8 hours and about 40% of that was forfeit/wasted due to disconnect, can't say for sure how long because after doing some digging, I learned that Blizzard actively hides this stat so that they can tell you that you've played for too long. I had not yet gotten to level 15 of my character. How far could I honestly get that warrants keeping my $75? Purchased 7/16, requested refund 7/17. Denied. Pretty sure there's a non-revocable 3-day right of rescission in my state that they're violating.

This is a money-grab by Blizzard and it would be nice if a class-action attorney group stepped up to pursue refunds for unhappy customers. They have clearly failed at 2 provisions regarding faulty digital content: 1) of satisfactory quality, 2) as described by seller. (I didn't see any disconnect warnings in any advertising campaigns). So if/when this happens, Blizzard doesn't just deserve it, they actively earned it for themselves.

I hope the game works fine for whoever reads this, but just to re-iterate below:

The game had some good parts, but game lead devs take it in a wrong direction making it worse and worse without resolving issues with the game. Not solving issues that matter to the players. Wasting player's time. Making players spend more time on the same activities than before.

Character creation: You are not allowed to create good looking characters. All the options are despicable and limited. Can't alter look when your character's been made which is.. you can change tattoo but you cannot change hairstyle? That's great I guess.

Music: Whatever, hardly ever paid any attention to it. The only one that stuck in my head is the theme for the main hub of fractured peaks.

Skills: BOOORING. It's D3 skill table without runes. You have slightly more freedom during leveling, but as soon as you hit max points, it starts to show how unintuitive and useless it is.

Paragon board: you have nods, common, magic, rare, legendary and sockets for glyphs.
Forget legendary nods. They are pretty useless. Focus on common nods giving you stats like in diablo 3. Pick all the matching stats for the glyph around it for maximum benefit. That is so exciting right? Especially when you realize how expensive and painful it is to refund each point 1 by 1.

Items: Itemization is a joke, bloated with useless affixes, useless uniques, legendaries are just rares with an extra affixes. Rerolling items is a major pain in the a**. Multi-tier system. Sacred-Ancestor. It's worthless, it's a bad joke, it's bad design. When you play at lvl100, and sacred items start raining for you. Free gold I guess, same as when uniques drop. Few 100k gold or don't even pick it up, because apparently ancestor rare items have better potentials and values.

    UI: Console Trash.

There's so much to talk about, but I just don't care. This game doesn't deserve more effort from me. It managed to make some cash so good for blizzard. S1 will be a blast, low latency due to the absence of the majority of people who read the v1.1 patch log.

I hope my review will deter some customers from making the same mistake I made, wasting money on a product that isn't even loved by the same people who are developing it.

Although diablo 4 is potential to be a great game, Blizzard obviously don't know how to manage their game. There are tons of ui design can be fixed easily to make the game fluently, but Blizzard decide to ignore those important ui design but focus on diminishing players interest. well done!

The game has a solid base, but patch after patch Blizzard makes this game worse for the average player, because 1% of players are doing too well, so they need everything to make gameplay longer.

It is ridiculous and I am sad I spent money on it, believing Blizzard might have changed its ways.

Atleast the blizzard devs listened to me more than what my parents did. I believe they made their damage buckets so convoluted that they don't realize how it all works. Instead of patching for balance they patched for frustration.

Had short fun when the game came out, got bored by lackluster endgame dungeon design very quickly. I was anticipating season 1 to hopefully bringing the missing fun, but patch 1.1 is the final nail in the coffin for me. the devs clearly dont play their own game and its bad... like really bad.

Since the release of the first game in 1996, Blizzard's dark fantasy hack-and-slash series has been a mainstay in the gaming community, boasting a dedicated fanbase eagerly anticipating each new release. Unfortunately, Diablo 4 fails to meet these lofty expectations, presenting a slew of issues that render it a significant disappointment.

Firstly, let's address the elephant in the room - Diablo 4's glaring lack of innovative gameplay mechanics. The franchise has long been praised for its strategic depth and rewarding loot system. Yet, Diablo 4 seems stuck in a time loop, regurgitating gameplay elements from its predecessors without any substantial additions or improvements. The result is a game that, while familiar, feels stale and monotonous.

The RPG elements, a cornerstone of the Diablo series, have been oversimplified to a disappointing degree. Character development and customization options are sadly lacking, offering a watered-down experience that lacks the depth and complexity that fans of the series have come to love. The skill tree, once a rich ground for character customization, has been minimized to a collection of linear, unexciting choices.

Graphically, Diablo 4 is adequate but fails to impress. Despite being a 2023 release, the game doesn't showcase the graphical improvements one might expect. The atmospheric, gothic visuals that defined the earlier games are present, but without a significant upgrade in quality, they lose some of their charm.

The game's storyline is equally disappointing. The Diablo series has always offered an intriguing narrative backdrop for its action, but Diablo 4's story feels underdeveloped and at times, even forced. Key plot points are often hastily explained or not fully fleshed out, leaving the player disconnected from the events unfolding around them.

Lastly, the game has been plagued with technical issues since launch. From server instability to random crashes, these problems have made an already lackluster experience even more frustrating. Blizzard's slow response to these issues has only added to the overall dissatisfaction.

It is difficult to overlook these problems and give Diablo 4 a pass solely on the strength of its legacy. The game's failure to innovate or deliver on the level of its predecessors makes it a hard sell for both long-time fans and newcomers to the franchise. Blizzard must address these issues swiftly and decisively if Diablo 4 is to regain the trust and admiration of its fanbase. Until then, it remains a disappointing addition to a once revered franchise.

A large patch for only 6 uniques that aren't even good.

And an army of nerfs that nobody asked for, especially the poor Sorc players who have to witness as their already weak and underperforming class now perform even worse.

Not to mention **** server stability and netcode, along with town stuttering, mount that moves like it is walking through molasses and other performance issues that will take them until Season 666 to fix one of them.

Good thing for the deluxe edition players who have to pay them $100 for this garbage is that they can chose to activate the BP (yes, the $70 base P2P game has a BP and a skin shop) whenever they want. So they can chose to activate it until season 666 when this "patch" is reverted and Sorc finally gets buff.

And I'm even a Sorc player, I'm a freaking Barbarian. All classes were nerfed but Sorc got it the worst. Give them the buffs they deserved and they will GIVE YOU THE LONG RETENTION PLAYTIME YOU GUYS DESIRED.

However, after level 60 or so, the game starts to slow down and by endgame, it a bit boring, and yet, frustrating, because playing as a sorceress meant a lot of deaths from off screen enemies or taking ages to slog through mobs waiting for my skills to be available again. I was sticking in there though and for the most part enjoying it.

And then came the patch on 7/18. Sorceress class went from a tough and frustrating to just about unplayable. Before I could maybe get enough each helltide just barely to open a mystery chest. Now they made it even harder. My skills are junk, cool down is an issue and I tried a NM dungeon that a few days ago was manageable and now is like trying to run through jello. No longer fun. Just added slog to the game, took away the fun parts, and didn't add anything fun back in. Seriously considering Uninstalling and moving on. Major fail which is sad because early game was fantastic.

My friends and I have enjoyed the game greatly since launch, but after the release of patch 1.1 just before Season 1 we are seeing just how out of touch the company's management is with the game. With all the sweeping nerfs, they have taken so many elements that made the game fun and completely killed it for me and my friends. Though I play Druid and came out mostly on top, my friends that love Sorcerer are getting completely shafted. I really wish the company was putting time into restoring all the quality of life improvements from Diablo III into Diablo IV instead of wasting time backtracking and making their game worst than the launch and beta experiences.

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table.
