I fell defrauded the the game I waited years for! Patch 1.1.0 is a mail in the coffin instead of a return for season 1

After a decent start where the game was enjoyable the entire player base was slapped with sensless nerfs born out of Blizzard’s complete lack of end game testing.
The second BG3 releases I’m done with this game.

There is no reason to play after the campaign, world feels empty with little to do expect grind out the same repetitive dungeons. Cooldowns feel way too long for an action game and the resource meter restricts this even further, this game was clearly not ready to be released and the seasonal patch completely gutted most classes on eternal realm.

Let me be clear: This game could be an 8, but the notably good start has covered the bare truth: This game was clearly not tested enough, badly balanced, wrongly tuned when it comes to gear and skills interdependency and the cause is simple: It was released 6 months before it would have been finished!

Cool/gritty graphics, but no gameplay content. Monsters (stuff we like to kill in a ARPG) are far and few between.
Itemization just suck. Too much crap to sell/salvage.
Different dungeons felt the same. Same mechanics, same bosses, alot of reused content. Boring. Mini-quests are just boring. Lots of QoL missing. No inventory management, no group finding, etc. Lots of undodgeable

I was bored really quick, and the game felt like a chore.
Great technical platform to build on! Engine feels smooth and snappy, No network lag (almost), no disconnects yet. Hope they add some real gameplay in the future!

This was a decently fun game at first. But hardly any builds could tackle the premier endgame content (tier 100 nightmare dungeons and the pinnacle boss). But hardly any builds could tackle the premier endgame content (tier 100 nightmare dungeons and the pinnacle boss). So I assumed that, with the upcoming patch and the launch of season 1, that there would be significant buffs across the board in order to increase the number of viable endgame builds. I also assumed that there would be quality of life changes and that the devs would make the game faster and and more fun (since at this point players are repetitively leveling and doing quests and dungeons that they have already done many times while playing previous characters).

Sadly, Blizzard's devs do not seem to actually play the game. So exp gains have been nerfed, armor has been nerfed, reduction of damage done to players has been nerfed, and all of the previously-viable endgame builds have been nerfed. Instead of giving weak abilities significant buffs in order to increase build diversity, they just nerfed the previously-viable abilities so that now they are as weak as all the non-viable abilities. There are no quality of life changes that players have been asking for. Instead, the game has actually been made much more slow and tedious. The only things that were buffed are inconsequential memes and actually feel like some sort of bad joke. The sorcerer class as a whole is now completely nonviable for endgame content.

Blizzard wants players to buy the battle pass and create new characters for season 1, but why would anyone want to create a new character only to experience the following frustrations:

    1) Playing slower. The devs nerfed cooldown reduction on items because too many people were utilizing it. So instead of using common sense and realizing that the base cooldowns of skills were far too long, forcing players to stack cooldown reduction on items so that their characters don't have to stand around and wait (which isn't fun and no one wants to do in a fantasy video game), these genius devs instead decided to make items have less cooldown reduction on them and make the game slower and more frustrating for players.

    2) Gaining exp slower. It took me over 200 hours to reach level 100 the first time around. Why would anyone want a patch that makes leveling up even slower and more painful when a new season is starting and everyone is creating new characters do go through the same leveling and questing experience that they've already played through on their original characters? Seasonal players have already leveled up and quested before, so each season should make the redundant leveling up and questing for new characters faster and easier instead of slower and more painful. But these genius devs seem to be thinking that if they just make leveling up slower and more painful for everyone, that no one will notice the lack of any new fun endgame content. Well, everyone noticed.

    3) Dying all the time. Apparently players weren't dying enough in the endgame (where ranged mobs can often one-shot you from offscreen with a projectile that moves so fast that it is impossible to react to, which is a horrible game design and a horrible player experience). So the devs in their infinite wisdom decided to nerf player armor and nerf the reduction of damage to players, for unclear reasons. And since season 1 utilizes new items that are placed in jewelry slots, these nerfs are superimposed on everyone already losing 750 armor due to not being able to use the 3 royal skulls which had previously been in their jewelry slots. So now everyone gets to constantly get one-shot in the endgame even more than before. Sure, you've grinded for hundreds of hours and now have a max level character with BIS gear and an optimal build, but the Blizzard devs think you deserve to feel as weak as a wet piece of tissue paper in the endgame.

    4) Killing everything more slowly. Player damage was overall nerfed across the board. So now you can't kill things you used to be able to kill, and what you are still able to kill takes twice as long to kill as it did before. This is literally the opposite of fun.

    5) Using the same builds as before. The only buffs are completely insignificant and inconsequential, but all of the viable builds were heavily nerfed. So the devs didn't add any build diversity, they just turned the few builds that were previously viable into crap that is nearly as nonviable as all the other builds. People will still use the same builds, it's just that everything sucks now.

    6) Playing the same class you've already played. People won't want to play season 1 because now that everything is nerfed and weak there is no reason to try a character of a different class. And the sorcerer class is just completely dead and nonviable now; only completely ignorant new players would ever create a sorcerer character at this point.

This dev team doesn't care about you. They care about artificially extending the time you play (by nerfing your damage output and defenses) so that you'll buy their microtransactions. This last patch was a nail in the coffin for many, myself included. I won't be back until that undo the damage they've done.

Season 1 is upcoming and as part of that a new patch was released that basically reduce damage output for most builds, reduce survivability for everyone and slowed up the gameplay. While some balancing was needed, their development team ended up providing very little positive improvements and made far too many negative changes to the community at one time. It feels like the Blizzard teams failed to test or get feedback from the community. Can they turn this around in the near future? remains to be seen.

Players grumbled here and there about quality of life and inter- and intra- class balance, but we thought the game was mostly there. There was always a small minority of people that claimed that the game had a serious endgame problem, in that there wasn’t one. Most just shrugged them off, thinking “of course you’re going to get bored if you hit endgame in one week.”

However, as more and more people reached the endgame, we realized that there definitely was a problem. Player power spikes three times in the entire game. The first, getting all ancestral gear and imprinting good aspects, is easy to get and gives the most power. The second, finding good/max rolls on random yellows, offers a disproportionately small power boost for how long it takes. The final power spike, getting ultra rare legendaries, is more likely to happen than being struck by lightning. Not to mention that, as you grind and level up, you become relatively weaker thanks to the level scaling. It’s a very offputting concoction of demotivation to play. Still, we had hope! The community had been talking and talking about potential ways to improve the endgame loop, and we all eagerly waited for the 1.1 patch. And then it came. Blizzard’s solution to the endgame problem was not to improve the endgame, but to slow down the entire game. Longer cooldowns and less damage all around. With this patch, Blizzard doubles down on keeping players playing not through excitement, but instead through tedium.
