Blizzard gloats about making so much money breaking records and refuses to provide players with stable servers, while forcing online gameplay. Company solely cares about the cash grab while pushing minimum viable products.

Loot is unrewarding, grinding post storyline is boring, inventory management is horrendous. Only reason giving it a 1 is the pre-release (stable servers)/storyline

    - There are also many things that seem specifically designed to just keep you in the game longer, like the placement of various important NPCs and events. Walking simulator galore.
    - And don't get me started on the monetization. In a game that already costs a mind-boggling $70 upfront, to have this level of monetization should be criminalized.
    - The two things this game delivers upon are music and art. Not much else, unfortunately.

Don't waste your money and your time. Wait until the game is at least half the price and enough time has passed for it to have maybe left early access. Maybe. Other than that, Activision Blizzard have delivered yet another massive disappointment.

Activision have completely destroyed the series, for a fast buck, and because it's online only we can't rely on modders to fix it, or add any quality of life that activision never will.

It's not even worth $20, so if you have to get it, wait until a large sale.

I have been a fan of the Diablo series for many years (over two decades) and I played Diablo 1 on my submarine, and it was a crew favorite. D3 was ok, got better with time. D4? Oh my... What a trash game made by a trash company. Oh how the once great company that was Blizzard entertainment has fallen, only to be replace by Bli$$ard Craptainment, only here to empty your wallet.

This game could be good. It could be, if it had competent developers that knew anything about how to make an ARPG, let alone even played one. It would also need a competent management team that were interested in anything but egregious monetization practices and fleecing the customer out of every nickle and dime that they bring home with overpriced cosmetics that cost more than some far superior full feature games. It would also need to be made by a company that was worth a plugged nickle and had some standards of decency and moral fiber.

The core game loop is there, and it is somewhat fun, if not repetitive. Basic quality of life features that should be present from launch are absent (but hey, the microtransaction store works, and got fixed before anything else did...) the lack of understanding how their own game works, and a seemingly unable to fix something without breaking something else. Not to mention nerfing the living **** out of several classes after people had spent a serious time commitment to get the top first world 100's, then wrecking that commitment. So on and so forth. There is not enough storage, and the morons developing the game can't add more, supposedly because the game loads in all of the stash tabs of all the people around you. I think this is a bald face lie, as why would you make this design decision as a developer? It isn't logical, it severs no purpose, and is just idiotic. I don't know why they won't add more, but it is bad. I don't think they are capable of figuring out their own program, because they are incompetent and have a lackadaisical knowledge of there own game. This is what happens when you hire based off of qualities to fill a certain quota for a certain type of people, and don't hire passions and talent. It shows in this game, it is designed to waste your time, and it shows. Junkyard conflagration bad.

Why no gem storage separate of your other storage? Why such a low limit on crafting stuff at launch? Why no loot filter? Why do resistances not work? Why are Overpower, Crit and Vulnerability so powerful, and the other stats are just kinda junk? Why is there no basic stats on all gear, like in D3 (like life and Will/Dex/Str? These are basic questions that should have been figured out before launch, not now. Why so many worthless stats? Why so many stats? Over 75% of them could be eliminated and nobody would notices.

The campaign is OK, story is OK, but man, that little turd Neyrelle kinda ruins the whole thing. End game is bad. Like do the same thing over and over and over and over, and once you get past a certain point, it feels like you don't really get any upgrades, and get random **** that doesn't really do anything but make you say WTF? Killing mobs at your level or higher, only to have them drop a **** legendary that is 20 or 30 levels lower. Getting an outstanding build defining unique or legendary, only to have it be bad, because it is 30 levels lower and has garbage stats. And rerolling? You can afford to do it once.. Don't try and trade it, else you'll get banned, as you have no way of knowing if the dude you are trading with has dirty exploited gold or not

Long and short of it is Overpriced garbage , Bad game, designed by incompetent dev clowns, Bozo and crew could've done better. Bad company that supports bad practices, and that leads to a **** product that you'd be better off not purchasing, saving your time and money for some else that respects your time and money, and this **** product isn't it.

You only have to read the reviews to know that we are all struggling with the same issues. I find teleporting in and out of areas leads to disconnects to the server. Consumables disappear due to dying and/or disconnects, and some of the consumables take a great deal of time to prepare. Resistances, seem irrelevant, even consumable resistance elixirs and so on. In general, the grinding is just the same old same old, with very little extra than increasing enemy health and damage, and the stun effects - OMF it may just be the worse Ive had to endure in a Diablo game. I hope Blizzard goes out of business because they have become so big without giving a crap to the legacy of Diablo. The money is important, but the overall experience of this game is evident Blizzard no longer understands what it means to make a long standing game. D2 was by far the best. Expand

Itemization is confusing, and it feels as though you are always making a trade-off when equipping a new item. There are very few times where you will equip an item and it will be a net positive improvement. A lot of items also offer boosts to specific skills, meaning you'll need to pay to respec your character to invest in a certain skill to maximize your damage. Charging the player to do this seems diabolical.

There aren't that many memorable bosses, the open world is flat out boring and empty feeling, and the multiplayer system doesn't make sense. There is no way to matchmake and join groups, and there is also no offline single player mode.

I know exactly what Blizzard is doing with this game and I'm not going to waste my time. I got this game for free and I'm still upset and uninstalling it. I will now check out Path of Exile. Blizzard, RIP.

I can actually see my xp bar move now. They buff and tweak a bunch of things. So far so good.

Fast forward to day before S1. Global xp nerf. Global defense nerf. Global damage nerf. What?! Prior to this patch, my level 100 rogue was clearing Tier 50-55 nightmare dungeons easily. I could push to 60, but that was sketchy and I died a lot. Post patch I try the lowest tier NM I have on hand: 51. I die 4x and am kicked out of the dungeon within 3 minutes. Wow. I crafted and tried a 45 next. Died twice and barely made it through. I don’t get it. I’m not pushing tier 100 and crushing it easily. I haven’t even killed Uber Lilith yet. Sure, I play 20-25 hrs a week, but I’m by no means elite. I only have a single 100 character. The game became objectively less fun. For what?

I speculate that the team that worked on Season 1 realized their content wasn’t well balanced and wouldn’t keep players engaged for 3 months, and instead of addressing the issues in the season, they simply slowed down the game and made it harder. Meh.

They are lucky there are no returns possible, and they obviously designed the game so that you cant see the biggest issues in the first 2 hours of the game (where a refund is possible). I wont forget that either.

It looks and plays like that mobile cash grab. Sure, for now it's not as bad, but wait for the season 1 to start. They will unleash their usual micro-transaction hell and this game will be basically all about paid skins. Because let's be honest - campaign in this one is a joke and you can't really play it in a loop like before. Majority of the game are lazy fetch quests. Really, in 2023, in a game developed for like a decade by a multimillion corporation? There are indie games that are much better than this one, developed by few dudes in a garage... But OK, let's say it's simply a hack'n'slash game. All you do is slay monsters and loot. OK, but where are those monsters and all that loot? Maps are basically barren copy paste fields with a very limited variety of enemies scattered thin. Most things you get are basically useless junk. Even those legendary items are semi-useful at best in most cases. Also your skill tree is extremely limited and only handful of them are useful. Why did they even added those skills if they don't work? Why bother? Just give me fireball that works and stop pretending. But with monster scaling it would be probably useless anyway. I love that when you level you actually hindering yourself, because monsters are levelling too and become bullet sponges with zillion HP. It's really fun to fight one goat man for like 2 minutes. But man, there are so many bad choices in this game, that it's hard to write a review and put it all in it. So forget gameplay. From the technical standpoint I'm also not amazed. Sure, it looks better than Diablo 2 or 3, but it doesn't look like a 2023 game. I play in 4K on ultra (with that UHD patch) and everything is blurry, low detail, especially ground textures remind me of Doom 3... what the heck man? Also light is badly made. There's clearly no ray tracing and balance in lighting. You have those blinding lanterns and 2m from them it's pure darkness. They also try to scatter, but they really know nothing about coding, so it only adds more blur and make it foggy. I have a good gaming rig - 5800X, 32RAM 4000MHz and RTX3090. And it's barely giving me stable 60-70fps... Really? In a game looking like it was made 15 years ago? And the camera - oh boy, I love those off screen attacks and no awareness of the surroundings, because I'm forced to play with a FOV set for 70" TVs. Haha, and that console HUD, with totally unintuitive and illegible quest tracking, no journal, never-ending tabs and so on. But the real cherry on top is the requirement to be always online. It's not a MMO. I want to play it solo and offline, like a real Diablo game, and not be bothered during campaign by hundreds of other players with insulting or stupid nicks. I don't want your 3 repetitive events and all that useless pseudo MMO BS.

As for my rating for the game. It this was an indie game, I would give it strong 5/10. Nice effort, maybe after some patching and a lot of development it could be good. But Diablo IV was made by one of the largest developers on this planet! They had basically unlimited budget and resources... and a lot of time. Nearly a decade. And they made this? 0/10. All those 10/10 reviews from mainstream media are a lie to trick you into buying this mediocre, at best, game.

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table.
