i love BD 1 and BD 2, and waited this one!

i dont get all those negative Scores... maybe Because Epic Launcher?

This game is a same old BD2 whit better loot, and more Gore and nice new characters.
i got 100-160fps no lag or Fps drops and no bugs or other issues.

i like the game and i realy enjoy it.

This game is not a BL2 Expansion, it is a fully fledge game with a lot of work put into it. The game is fun and i will play a lot of it, however it does feel like it is missing something big. It just doesn't have the same heart that went into it that the first two BLs did. Tales from the Borderlands had that spark too. So it's not a bad game, it is just missing something.

Suffers from unplayable lag and disconnections because of the anti-piracy DRM.
Gameplay and story are mediocre and feel like a step down from BL2

AMD fx 8350 8 core 16gb ddr3 ram and AMD radeon R9 390x 8gb and windows 10 OS. 3 hours in and still trying to find a work around or fix to get past game crashing at opening cut scene. I have found the Epic support forums and player feed back very helpful in trying to fix the broken launch game issues.

So far the game is fun with plenty of playtime and plenty of weapons. Just like before each gun has its own feel to it. Story-wise it has new characters, old characters, and good dialogue that you would come to expect from a borderlands game. Though it does feel a bit more PG13 then previous titles.

and what knocked 3 points off my review. EPIC GAME STORE. I'm sorry, but I would rather use EA Origins. But I want to play this game so, F it. I will refrain from buying other games on the EGS. Yes, steam has a lot of control over the market, but when your storefront lacks even a Shopping cart, then maybe you should invest more on making it worth using before forcing people to buy games on it. but that is just me. Also a Fing road map for a storefront... And like Anthem, they abandoned that roadmap.

All in all, a fun game. If I hadn't just spent so much upgrading my PC, I would have gotten this for the Xbox or PS4. If you have that option then do it and do not feed the Epic Game Store as I did :(.

This game has everything to be considered a good game. But man, i'm so tired of games launching in this state!

The game is buggy and has a lot of frame rate issues. And when i pay for something, i want it to work properly. Not tomorrow, not in a week, not in a month. I want it to work in release day. It's obvious that the game needed more time. But nope! They want my money now!

The characters are sub-par and boring with not much to them you'll find yourself hardly caring about them. The jokes are okay a little childish but hey that has always kind of been Borderland's stick anyway so I didn't mind them too much. This game is sadly middle of the road with not much wow factor and maybe it is just IP fatigue at this point. Co-op is fun when it works but most co-ops are so you won't win points for that from me. Graphics look good when the game isn't dropping FPS like crazy for no reason and no it isn't my system (i7 9700k, RTX 2080, 64 Gigs of RAM, and so on). I would have given this game a higher score if the Devs didn't release a buggy mess at launch, it seems that there was a reason early review copies were so hard to come by. Another thing that should be talked about is the insane DRM in this game which goes above and beyond to the point of making impossible for some to stream the game. All and all it is a 5/10 once it is patched and I have no doubt that Gearbox will make it right, but until that day comes the most I can see fit to give it is a 2/10. Expand

So, I used to be a member of the outrage mob against this game, but thinking about it rationally I came to the conclusion that the only thing I really care about is whether the game is good and whether the game doesn't rip me off. I can confirm that Borderlands 3 does both of these things at launch. So far after about 7 hours of play, I have encountered no bugs. The game runs solidly on my GTX 1060 6gb, although I can't crank the settings up to max. I get average framerates of around 70-90 with my rig. I haven't experienced the disastrous frame drops that people have been complaining about in the negative reviews. The existence of Denuvo DEFINITELY sucks though, I will not deny that whatsoever. DRM is never a good thing, and removing it would probably make this game run even better.

Claims regarding an in-game shop are complete bull, because there is no in-game shop. There are microtransactions in the form of cosmetic items, but these are not locked behind loot boxes, and you can buy exactly what you want, similar to games like Warframe. Furthermore, this is not a new development in Borderlands. BL2 had the same kinds of cosmetic microtransactions. I do think it is concerning that the golden chest in sanctuary can give you legendaries, as that could potentially lead to the ability to buy golden keys to try and get legendaries that way, but as it stands right now, you cannot do this. You can only get golden keys through shift codes; the old fashioned way.

In regards to gameplay, it feels a lot like Borderlands 2, but better in almost every way. Being able to teleport to any fast travel station or your car from anywhere on the map is a fantastic addition, every gun feels like it was hand-crafted despite the fact that it was randomly generated, gear lasts more than just a couple levels before becoming obsolete (a huge improvement over Borderlands 2), and moving around is slick and satisfying. If you aren't a fan of Borderlands, you won't like this game, but if you are, this is definitely the sequel you've been waiting for.

Read both sides of the aisle. It's understandable to be skeptical of the quality of triple A games these days with such disasters as Anthem and Fallout 76 or even 2K's other recent release, the horrifically manipulative gambling simulator that is NBA 2K20, but Borderlands 3 is thankfully not among those triple A flops. It's a fun game that doesn't rip you off. Hopefully it stays that way.

I wouldn't buy the season pass though. I'd rather wait for the DLC to come out to decide whether I want it or not.

So far I have played 6hrs. Really enjoying it so far. Silly humour, not to everyone's tastes I guess. Good gunplay, crazy gun ideas that I haven't seen in previous borderlands games. People have said the 2 main villains are annoying because they are like twitch streamers etc but that is even better reason to hunt them down and kill them.

I have seen far more cringe characters in other games and I think they are actually taking the piss out of twitch streamers. Pros
Graphics are improved. Not sure why people are saying it's badly optimized, runs ok for me on 3700x, rx580, I have it on 2560x1440 resolution although most settings are set to low and getting 60fps. But still looks better than borderlands 2. I haven't tried to lower resolution yet and put higher settings. Story ok so far. Some new enemies since I last played borderlands 2. Especially the loot enemies, that explode with loot going everywhere. Small changes to gameplay that make it that little smoother to play, like climbing ledges, sliding. Possible pro, new worlds/area's from what we have been told in previews but I haven't gotten that far yet. Cons
I've had 2 crashes but I think that is because I had MSI afterburner running to view FPS. When I didn't have it running it didn't crash yet. I've had the game saying there is an update available when I go to esc to main menu, but it doesn't update, there is no option to update on title screen and when you exit to epic store it doesn't update. You have to use epic store. It's an exclusive for now
It's expensive. Possible con, apparently micro transactions in the game according to other review bombs here, I haven't seen any, they aren't forced on me yet. And if they are just don't buy them. Just enjoy the game for what it is, a very fun looter shooter that started it all.

Borderlands 3 is not an evolution of the series the way Borderlands 2 was. Instead, it takes what was great about Borderlands 1 and 2 and cranks these components up to 11. The detailed and varied settings combined with the enhanced gunplay and loot system make for a rewarding moment to moment experience the remains fresh even 25 hours into the game. Sadly though the campy tone of Borderlands 3 comes at its expense as the jokes not only fail to land but actually inspire discomfort. Come for the loots, stay for the setting, and ignore the story.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------The Father-------------------------------------------------------------------

I played Borderlands 1 way back in the day and loved it. Borderlands 1 was a bit goofy but was significantly darker than Borderlands 2 (and now 3). It did the Fallout 3 thing where it Juxtaposed goofy characters and ideas against a grim and hopeless setting. The overall gameplay and feel of the game was great and the idea of it was original. The loot system developed in this game and the setting were original enough to be interesting and fun to see. Ultimately the guns all felt the same and the setting, while interesting at first, grew bland in the later portions of the game. Borderlands 1 remains an interesting if flawed experience elevated by its core ideas but held back by small components.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------The Son----------------------------------------------------------------------

Borderlands 2 found its tone a little better than Borderlands 1 though. It was a more light-hearted adventure with funny and charming characters. Its expansive settings, deep loot system, and improvements to every aspect of the game put it way above the already fun (but flawed) Borderlands 1. The guns all felt unique and the variety of weapons coupled with the detailed maps and funny writing allowed it to become something of a legend in the gaming community. Gearbox listened to what the fans said and the improvements from B1 to B2 were immense and made for a fantastic experience that we all loved

    -----------------------------------------------------------The Unholy Ghost-------------------------------------------------------------

Then we get to Borderlands the pre-sequel which was a disappointment by nearly all standards. Where Borderlands 2 made a huge jump from Borderlands 1, Borderlands the PS felt like a DLC- and a somewhat poor one at that. Gone were the varied environments, gone was the charm and detail, and gone was originality displayed in both prior titles. The PS should have been a 30$ DLC that earned a 7.5/10 rating for its size and scale but only a 7.5 due to its glaring writing and technical issues. Instead, we paid 60$ for the addition of oxygen consumption mechanics and laser guns.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------The New kid----------------------------------------------------------------

Now we get to Borderlands 3 and the question was on everyone's head. Would this be like Borderlands 2 and make a big jump in quality or would it be a fancy DLC like Borderlands the PS. The answer: neither.
Borderlands 3 feels different enough where it is its own distinct game. The settings are wildly more varied than in any previous title and the games overall "feel" is that of a Borderlands 1 style game. The desert setting with the lone western guitar strumming along slowly as you make your way from bandit to bandit brings back the feeling for Borderlands 1. The gameplay though is much tighter and the overall combat mechanics are better than ever. Shooting is punchy and responsive and the weapons are very different with each assault rifle and pistol feeling different from one another. As the game goes along the settings open up and you find yourself in swamps, forests, deserts, tundras, and crazy alien planets. The varied setting style of Borderlands 2 was cranked up to 11 here and it makes things continuously fresh and interesting.

But there are issues. On console, my experience has been fantastic- no technicaly issues after 20+ hours of play. That being said PC players are having issues and they are making that clear in this board.

The biggest issue though is the writing. I have to be honest- it sucks. Perhaps at my age I have grown a bit more mature and the campy innuendo jokes just don't do it for me anymore. That being said Borderlands 2 made me laugh quite a bit. Handsome Jack and the supporting cast where hilarious and their jokes made for a better experience. Here I find myself cringing at the jokes and have yet to really laugh. It alls feels like it is trying way too hard.

Exclusives are fine if they make them like, EA, Ubisoft, Sony, Xbox, Valve etc but not when you force people to your incomplete store front to buy AAA/indie titles to "compete". If Epic Games just stuck with 12% we all would support them.

There are some minor rough edges still like the map being a bit annoying to control (please zoom out further by default) and it is definitely a heavier game. I run it at low on qhd on a 1060 6 gb to get around 70-80 fps, but low still looks good, I honestly don't see that much difference so I like the better framerate. I'm sure we'll get some patches to improve it.

My personal performance experience? Installed fine, playing fine, never crashed, it's a newer game so it's a bit more demanding and frames will drop in dense areas with open views. Optimization isn't perfect at the moment, especially when it comes to using scopes, but it absolutely 100% isn't game breaking in any way. Lower a few settings for now and just wait for an update if you have fps issues.

Since EGS doesn't have forums like Steam, I'll write a review here. Cloud storage does not work in at least the EGS version. Also, when you create a new character, you can't skip five minutes of cutscenes. The rest of the game is good. But it turns out I can not play on two computers, synchronizing the progress. If the problems are corrected, I'd be happy to raise the score for the game.

The humor and characters are really uninspired, Fl4K's design looks straight out ripped off of the old taletell game, while the others are really uninspired and forgettable.
They straight up removed other character's from the universe as well such as Gaige and Kreig.
Kreig being my favourite to come out of BL2. The mechanics are literally copy&paste from Borderlands 2. Nothing was improved, and there's not really anything innovative here, even in enemy design. This game is a prime example of how not to develop a game.

I DID NOT LIKE Borderlands 2. It was a mess. It looked bad, ran bad (worse optimization than BL3), the characters were devoid of life and boring, the comedy was cringe-worthy and terrible, the guns all felt tame and exactly the same, the movement was clunky and annoying, I could go on and on. As far as I can tell, Borderlands 3 has improved on Borderlands 2 in every way.

The game looks beautiful. I don't know how anyone could think its hardly an improvement over BL2. Do a side by side of the two. BL2 looks like hot garbage. The lighting in this game is so impressive, I love it combined with the cell shaded style. The guns are all so unique. Every gun I have picked up has been completely different and fun to use, no matter the stats. The skill trees are far more in depth and allow a lot more catering to your individual playstyle.

The changes to co-op has allowed for far superior drop-in drop-out co-op play. Playing with friends has never been easier. I love the shared loot and scaled enemies system. It just makes it so much more enjoyable. It was so annoying in previous borderlands games that you couldn't progress further than your friends or you would just one hit everything in their game. BL3 has completely remedied that.

if you're going to get your panties in a bunch over the game not being on steam, I'm going to go ahead and give you a big YIKERS and a big "Grow up." Who cares. You can still play the game. I haven't had a single issue with epic games launcher. Enjoy waiting 6 months.

I know this was ranty but this review bombing stuff is just ludicrous. Imagine being so devoid of individual thought that you give a massive AAA title like BL3 a metacritic score equivalent to BIG RIGS OVER THE ROAD RACING. Give me a break..

For now this game gets an 8. No, its not revolutionary, but it is extraordinarily fun and a huge improvement over Borderlands 2.

    Performance:
So, I run a gtx 980 at 2560x1440 on medium settings (with a few tweaks). I am constantly above 60fps and only experience stutter when aiming down scoped sights. This is something devs can fix and will in maybe a week at most. Just before writing this I even got an in-game notification saying an update was available so the devs are listening and working on fixes. My advice to people struggling with performance at the moment is to go into the menus and play with the settings. The game applies them live so no restarts needed. Toggle something but see no difference? Then turn it off. No difference between low and high on a setting? Again, set it low.

    Graphics:
Yes they do look better than borderlands 2. That's really all you need to know. "BUT IT LOOKS OLD" I see people saying. Unfortunately with the cell shading art style, there's not much anyone can do about that. its not going to be photorealistic as that's not the point of borderlands. Go check out the tests of the first borderlands before they cell shaded it. Its boring and mundane with realistic graphics. The graphics here are sharper, there's a wider colour palette, and the effects look less comic book style (especially the gore).

    Gameplay:
What a difference this is to borderlands 2. The guns feel sharp, hitting a target and seeing them react/be left with just a spine sticking out of some legs feels so much better than borderlands 2's more spongy enemies with stock animations (and I adored borderlands 2). The added movement from vaulting and sliding just feels right at home, although the butt slamming from pre-sequel is back and I don't get the point.

    Story:
Now, the story isn't good, but it's not terrible either (must be from the feed water). The villains aren't Handsome Jack because I struggle to see them topping that. They do however have personality unlike the twins from Far Cry New Dawn or any other of the generic bad guys from the litany of generic shooter games that have plagued releases for the past few years. However, the writing of the other characters, the voice acting and the humour is great overall and there are a few twists and turns in the story to keep you intrigued, especially when referring to past characters. My key issue is that the vault hunters don't feel connected to the twins. There's no real feeling of revenge or betrayal like in previous titles to keep you hooked in their narrative.

Overall my experience is positive. I'm sure any issues will be fixed in time. I had a few bugs (including a hillarious encounter with a hammerlock hunt beast that flew off into space) but overall have had a good experience on a mid range machine. My main negativity is towards the epic exclusivity and Randy. if you liked borderlands 2 and want more borderlands with better controls and gunplay, get it (albeit at a later date when its more polished/cheaper). if you've never played borderlands, maybe miss it since many references will be lost on you, or if you're one of the people who say it looks old but then go and play forknife.

I have already played BL2 and Pre-Sequel to death. They were fun enough for their time. This does not take enough chances to separate it from the others (BL2 made advancements from BL1. Pre-Sequel was clearly a FarCry Primal to FarCry 4 kind of money grab). You will be paying for nostalgia, a longer update and an ever so mild update from the original games.

And for some, that's worth it. For me, that does not get the game over a 5. Innovate, make it better, or put it out at 30 dollars since it's so clearly NOT worth full game price.

First off, lets just say right out of the bat, this game is about loot and combat mechanics first and foremost (looter shooter) not humor, not politics, not even the launcher, and those two primary mechanics are fantastic. Explosions galore, more guns than an inventory can handle, and pristine sound design lend to a fantastic gameplay.

That being said, as always the humour is hit or miss, but if you get off your high horse some of it can have you rolling.

Slight optimization issues running on Medium with a 1600x and 2060 6gb, but I never dipped below 60.

My biggest gripe is the quest tracking/map system as constantly swapping to different quests then having to go back to the map is super annoying, especially as the map zooms in and rotates each time you enter its screen.

All in all, nothing game breaking and gearbox has a fantastic patch record for supporting games and getting content/fixes out quickly. Happy to see where this fantastic shooter goes!

Boring , derivative, flat. Off the wall humor was how developers stayed "edgy" in 2003. Now the jokes just fall flat. For it's third outing I expected some variation or innovation, it's just more of the same but not quite as good. The guns are good but I already owned BL 1 and 2 and that's enough for me after having played this.

This is more an expansion for BL2 rather than a new complete game with 6 years of development.

Its just a port from UE3 to UE4, a remake of the UI (with horrible performance) and some skills thrown out there with some new characters. After 6 years you won't expect to see some of the same levels and in-game assets there, but hey, they are there, up the texture res and viola!

Seriously, they just ported the game to UE4, and this is probably what is causing performance issues.

Game is unacceptably buggy as of now. My PC is running a 1080ti and an i7-6700k, and is struggling to get a stable framerate. I'm getting very frequent drops down into the 40 fps range, with rarer drops down into the 30s. Trying to aim down sights all but guarantees a serious frame drop. I've also had the game go unresponsive and need to be killed with the task manager.

    Wish I could say

Wish I could say more about the gameplay and story, but I stopped playing fairly quick. I don't want to play more than 2 hours, or else I'll lose eligibility for a refund. If these issues aren't fixed a week from now, I'll be pursuing that.

This game should be sold as borderlands 2 dlc. Not full price game. The ammount of microtransactions and bugs in this game is "over 9000". This game is one big dissapointment

When Borderlands and Borderlands 2 came out, they were rather unique. Today, there are lots of similar games, like Destiny 2, Warframe, Division 2 and others. Unfortunately, all of them are better than Borderlands 3. Borderlands 3 is Borderlands 2 but less funny, with slightly refined shooting mechanics, slightly crisper graphics, lots of bugs and 10 times the system requirements. While Gearbox were timidly iterating, everyone else blew right past them with amazing technical displays like Division 2 or with endless content like Warframe. If you are one of those people who have 2000 hours in Borderlands 2, then you already own this and this review is pointless. If you are on the fence about it, I'd suggest you hold off for a few months until Gearbox polishes the game up, adds more content and lowers the price. Personally I see no reason to play this over all the other games, unless you've already played them to death. Expand

Same game then Borderlands 2 and the optimization is very bad. There are a lot of bugs too.

I'm a big borderlands fan and honestly this is my first review, I've never wanted to review something in the past because I always felt like hey maybe somebody else enjoyed it even if I didn't. But honestly I can just sit around and be silent when it comes to this mess they call a game.

It's just Borderlands, which is a good thing. Quite a few new features. New classes to explore. New areas to explore. I haven't noticed many of the complaints that people seem to be commenting about while giving the game poor ratings.

Getting about 70 FPS at 1440p medium settings on a GTX 1070 with no noticeable frame drops. The humor is Borderlands.... The Epic Store isn't Steam, but

Who cares what Randy Ptichford said/did - He's not in the game.
One reviewed said there are micro transactions everywhere in the game... I haven't seen one yet.

You would figure a nearly top of the line PC would be able to run the game fine...but it doesn't. Is the game just poorly optimized? There are games with much higher graphical fidelity that can run on a GTX 1080 without issues like this. It's insane.

The only trolls here are people who give this game 10/10. in Directx 12 completely broken. Load times are out of control, and performance is poor on the f*** rtx 2080. And in addition we get denuvo, software that will be broken anyway and only making problems for people who pay for game.

Easily the best FPS of 2019 so far. Runs smoothly on my 1080ti at 1440p. Funny characters, excellent gun play, good cut scenes, multiplayer options, and unlimited grind potential. Not sure what else you can ask for for $60... Great job Gearbox and thank you!

Gearbox has a problem: the fantastic Borderlands 2 is too good to be beaten. But in the case of Borderlands 3, it is still more than a worthy successor. The filmmakers brought many pop-cultural references, maybe pushing too hard on how they want to be “modern”, but otherwise it's a great game again. [Issue#298]

Borderlands 3 offers a generous experience, with colourful characters, neat gameplay and a charming universe. Its formula, very close to that of the previous episodes does not revolutionize the show but its small new features bring a little freshness and the scenario makes us want to go to the end of the adventure. Its dynamism and nervousness make it a choice piece for adrenaline-ready FPS lovers and license fans.

The fun, humorous storyline, some great dialogue and theatrical accents of the diverse characters, beautifully varied locations and the same great gunplay that Borderlands is renowned for, means that Borderlands 3 becomes another must have title in the series.
