    I personally did not experience any major issues with game. The only noticieable issue was lag in the inventory. However, the story was terrible and twins were so annoying. I was hyped and was disappointed by this. Gameplay was nice and there were more vehicles and more guns but twins gave me a headache and everytime they did something, you watch them and do nothing. the story wasI personally did not experience any major issues with game.     The bank has a bug in which wipes everything. I had 10 anointed legendary and 40 legendary. All gone. 40 hrs worth of farming is gone. Good job borderland.
    Inventory is just stupid. Don't know how they coded it but frame drops like crazy. I actually lag when I open inventory and I have really good gig (I7-8700, 16gb ram, 2060 6gb). Like game actually freezes during inventory.    … Expand

    What's the point of collecting eridium if it's only for cosmetics, shouldnt it be for augmenting your ammo/backpack capacity?

    Game is unacceptably buggy as of now. My PC is running a 1080ti and an i7-6700k, and is struggling to get a stable framerate. I'm getting very frequent drops down into the 40 fps range, with rarer drops down into the 30s. Trying to aim down sights all but guarantees a serious frame drop. I've also had the game go unresponsive and need to be killed with the task manager.

    Wish I could say    Game is unacceptably buggy as of now. My PC is running a 1080ti and an i7-6700k, and is struggling to get a stable framerate.     I wanted this game to be so good and it's just bug after bug after bug. Gearbox released another unfinished mess of a game and that sucks. DX12 problems, crashing problems, freezes, glitches. Not worth the money at all. FINISH YOUR GAMES BEFORE YOU RELEASE THEM.

    I'm a big borderlands fan and honestly this is my first review, I've never wanted to review something in the past because I always felt like hey maybe somebody else enjoyed it even if I didn't. But honestly I can just sit around and be silent when it comes to this mess they call a game.

    This game has everything to be considered a good game. But man, i'm so tired of games launching in this state!

    The game is buggy and has a lot of frame rate issues. And when i pay for something, i want it to work properly. Not tomorrow, not in a week, not in a month. I want it to work in release day.     Boring , derivative, flat. Off the wall humor was how developers stayed "edgy" in 2003. Now the jokes just fall flat. For it's third outing I expected some variation or innovation, it's just more of the same but not quite as good. The guns are good but I already owned BL 1 and 2 and that's enough for me after having played this.

    Bought the game to give it an honest shake, with all the controversy surrouding it, I felt it would be the most honest to look at it myself.
    I can say, without a doubt, it's a horribly repetitive game, indistinguishable from the previous two, and frankly not worth the price by miles.

    Don't buy it, not even on sale.

    Another boring copy/paste Borderlands game. The series has continuously gone downhill since the first game and this one is no exception. I really should have learned my lesson after the Pre-Sequel being a disaster, but nobody is perfect.

    You would figure a nearly top of the line PC would be able to run the game fine...but it doesn't. Is the game just poorly optimized? There are games with much higher graphical fidelity that can run on a GTX 1080 without issues like this. It's insane.

    This is more an expansion for BL2 rather than a new complete game with 6 years of development.

    Its just a port from UE3 to UE4, a remake of the UI (with horrible performance) and some skills thrown out there with some new characters. After 6 years you won't expect to see some of the same levels and in-game assets there, but hey, they are there, up the texture res and viola!     I WAITED 6 YEARS FOR THIS?!
    I mean between the rinse and repeat gameplay that offers nothing new from BL 1 or 2, the bland world, the absolutely horrible optimization, I really wish I had given this one a pass. What an absolute let down.

    The graphics are a little better than Borderlands 2, a 2012 game has almost the same graphics as a 2019 game, unbelievable. The gameplay is... Ok? Borderlands 3 starts good but the shooting gets boring after a while, shooting bullet sponges isn't as fun as it sounds, even with the endless weapons the game offers. It becomes a really painful experience when the story and the gameplay doesn't work.

    In addition, the developers made a bad store choice to sell the game. Epic Games Store has many problems that everyone is already tired of hearing. The launcher sometimes does not work, the game disappears from the bookstore for a few hours, the game does not start because it does not recognize that you bought the game, many crashes. Apart from credit card cloning, poor security, etc.

    This game is a buggy mess. Constant crashes, low framerate, laggy, screen tearing, uninspired story telling, bland humor, and nothing an additional dlc for BL2 couldn't cover. It's just more of the same with nothing new that's worth mentioning.

    I have a 2080ti, 8600k (OC'd to 5.2 ghz) and a 144hz 1440p monitor. This game runs like...., I would swap it down to my 1080p 60hz monitor but that one has no gsync so it actually looks worse. I don't get how you can release a game so poorly optimized.     The only trolls here are people who give this game 10/10. in Directx 12 completely broken. Load times are out of control, and performance is poor on the f*** rtx 2080. And in addition we get denuvo, software that will be broken anyway and only making problems for people who pay for game.

    While there are *improvements* here and there with this game (mainly the gunplay being slightly better), I don't think there is enough to make this game worth playing. Maybe I was spoiled with Shadow Warrior 2 which I thought did the "looter shooter" thing far better. Regardless, I would give this game a miss unless you are a HUGE fan of Borderlands.

    It's not helpful that the reviews of this game are divided with hardcore fans and "critics" trying to counter review each other. I guess that's Metacritic in a nutshell.     They straight up removed other character's from the universe as well such as Gaige and Kreig.
    Kreig being my favourite to come out of BL2. The mechanics are literally copy&paste from Borderlands 2. Nothing was improved, and there's not really anything innovative here, even in enemy design. This game is a prime example of how not to develop a game.    … Expand

    this game uploads 250 KBps to epic games, way more than any game should need for drm. The Devs have berated fans over and over for daring to criticize their exclusivity with epic games. they ban people from their forums over calling a robot npc he. game runs like **** gameplay is sub par compared to past borderlands.

Using latest drivers and windows updates. However, trying the same on my wife's desktop, it works just fine. Makes me think there is an issue with Optimus. But...     Epic store exclusivity already deserves 0, but this game isn't even good. Graphics are slightly better, but everything else is significantly worse: Vault hunters are boring and have no personality, humor is pathetic, environment design is much worse than in borderlands 2. I can't name anything that this game does better than the previous one except graphics.

Graphics look good when the game isn't dropping FPS like crazy for no reason and no it isn't my system (i7 9700k, RTX 2080, 64 Gigs of RAM, and so on). I would have given this game a higher score if the Devs didn't release a buggy mess at launch, it seems that there was a reason early review copies were so hard to come by. Another thing that should be talked about is the insane DRM in this game which goes above and beyond to the point of making impossible for some to stream the game. All and all it is a 5/10 once it is patched and I have no doubt that Gearbox will make it right, but until that day comes the most I can see fit to give it is a 2/10.… Expand

    It's a game that any sane person would consider "broken on release".
    It is horrendously optimized and buggy, actually unplayable. I'm shocked they decided to ship the game in this state.

    The game is just terrible, the pre sequel is better.

    Exclusives are fine if they make them like, EA, Ubisoft, Sony, Xbox, Valve etc but not when you force people to your incomplete store front to buy AAA/indie titles to "compete". If Epic Games just stuck with 12% we all would support them.

    The little time I did play it for was just excruciatingly painful, the game is just pushing weird SJW virtue signaling crap on to the player, cringy as hell, had to get a refund, no way I was going to sit through 40+ hours of that. my brain can only take so much.

    Since EGS doesn't have forums like Steam, I'll write a review here. Cloud storage does not work in at least the EGS version. Also, when you create a new character, you can't skip five minutes of cutscenes. The rest of the game is good. But it turns out I can not play on two computers, synchronizing the progress. If the problems are corrected, I'd be happy to raise the score for the game.

    This must be one of the most overrated cash grabs in the history of gaming. Bugs everywhere the graphics are dated (after all these years they still use the same graphic engine ??) the enemy AI is beyond stupid the jokes are bad and the plot is forgetable. The gameplay is so repetitive in nature that it's getting boring really fast . UNINSTALLED and Epic stores i want my money back !!

    Loved BL1,2 and Presequel. Played them all in vertical split screen with my partner. On a 4K TV, the horizontal split screen in BL3 is unplayable. :(

    I will admit this score is in reference to expectations... The developers and team clearly put in effort and time to this game. The graphics and design are high quality. The game itself though isn't to me a better Borderlands!! It just isn't :-/ I can't think of playing this game more than once and I already bought the DLCs and secretly regret that :-(

    This game was rushed, there is NO question about it. It feels like an untested alpha. And I would go further and say that all those shady professional reviewers that gave this pile of **** higher than a 7 are full of bull**** and in my opinion were handed a wad of cash

    I don't know from where to start with, first of all the game is way too political, just by looking at the ugly character like Amara you will know what I mean. The main 4 playable characters are horrible and uninteresting, the game is not even the half of the nail of BD2.

Like the graphics look the same as borderlands 2 and I was getting around 100fps there. The frametime is the worst as it seems to be jumping all over the place.     Ok. After beating the main story i can safely say everything that this game has done wrong and everything that has done right.....
    First of the good stuff:
    1. Loot progression is excelent. 2. Core Gameplay mechanics are fun (when they work). 3.     First of the good stuff:

    3. The gameplay is laggy and broken, and it doesn`t have the stability to back it up.
    4. The monetization aspect of the game is another piece of **** that woasn`t necessary in this franchise at all.
    5. The Story is a dissaster.
    6. The humor is horrendous after the first hour you play.
    7. Randy Pitchford is still CEO of Gearbox (what world are we living in?)

    Conclusion & closing comment:

    Buy the game when its on sale (or when they release a full patch and make it stable) or wait (because it will happen) for the Game of the Year Edition.

    The story of this game feels like a borderlands game with the heart removed. Looking back to borderlands 2 Handsome Jack was a villain that you liked thwarting. He was always a presence and they caught lightning in a bottle with him. Here i feel like they could have done something interesting with the cult but instead decided to try and create handsome jack, but this time we have 2 of him.
    I loved the idea of more worlds to explore because we had so much environment in Pandora in the last games to explore so it seemed like we were promised entire worlds to roam. Instead we got small chunks of pretty scenery with reskinned enemies and half as many side quests.
    This game lost the heart of borderlands and doesn't feel like it promises anything.
    When i finished this game i didn't sit back in relief like after any other borderlands play through and think, man i can't wait to do that again. Instead I just felt this knot in my stomach, and a feeling of emptiness.
    "this is what I waited for?"
    "where was my adventure?"

Overall, the story is the worst of the borderlands games by far, and the jokes are right down there with it.

    The level design is ridiculous in this game. Each area is absolutely massive, full of sub areas that are massive, and full of sidequests that are massive. Speaking of side quests, they're home to much better writing. The post-campaign portion of Borderlands 3 is by far the best part of the game... but you have to go through such a slog of misery to get there, it's not worth it. They could have completely skipped out on the stupid villains and just had a game full of side quests and random missions and the game would have been a thousand times better.

    Overall, if you don't mind putting the dialogue on mute, it's fine. But what kind of maniac would play a story-based game with the story turned off? It's just not worth it. It's a disappointing package. So many improvements... but the core of the game is dated, immature, and -in some places- completely terrible.    … Expand

    Shifting gears, after I completed the story for the first time I sat for a good two minutes with my mouth wide open. Not because it was amazing mind you, but because I couldn't believe I had waited 7 years for this steaming dung pile — I'm being generous. The main story in Borderlands 3 feels like the musings of sophomores just introduced to critical theory and trying intently to weave it into their favorite fan fiction.

    Characters make asinine decisions, the plot is driven by idiotic motivations, and you, the supposed hero of the story, are agentless, if not completely excluded, from the majority of the important parts of the story. You don't matter. Very little you do matters. And in the end, you don't matter at all.

    This is especially true if you're a straight male. The writers went out of their way to exclude straight men from the main story. Save for brief involvement with a couple of characters, the majority of the men you interact with will either be evil or idiots. The main cast will be dominated by female characters who seem to have forgotten their male peers from the last two games.

    This is critical theory at work in the gaming industry. Women, minorities, LGBT+ are "oppressed" and therefore the Social Justice Warriors must "right" the "injustices of oppression" by "empowering oppressed peoples", especially at the expense of the "oppressor". Logic, audience, and story be darned. Don't get me wrong. I think having meaningful, empowering, and main roles for female characters is a good thing. But not when it's done at the expense of a compelling story, deliberately excluding numerous characters who are natural additions to the story. Again, if you think this is being "over sensitive", you need to read up on what critical theory is and how it's being implemented in our culture today.

    A game that use to pride itself on being anti-PC is now a sermon on political correctness. The main story feels like it was written by a team of interns as a college project, but the game play is phenomenal. If you can ignore the main story (the side stories are where the charming Borderlands humor still resides) then you can squeeze some enjoyment out of this game.    … Expand

    And while we're on the subject, here's a problem that BL3 has that carries over from BL2.

    In BL1, the player character was THE HERO. Yes, Angel was there to guide you, but Angel was a disembodied voice who couldn't do anything without you. But in BL2, the original BL1 characters are the heroes. The player character is just a go-fer, an errand-person, a hireling. Every step of the way, you have Roland and Lilith and the others talking to you like your child, "Way to go, Champ! Good job!" BL3 does the same, only now you have all the BL1 and BL2 characters as the heroes, and once again, it's "Hey, kid! You got promise. Here, go get me a hamburger!"

    Nah.

    It'd be much better if the player character were alone, and were the lone hero, and the others kept out of it a LOT more.    … Expand

    Worth picking up for around $30 if you're a fan of the franchise like I am, but not spectacular and not recommended as a starting point to those new to the series.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. PC Player here, wanting to chime in. A quick summary...I did not enjoy this much, and would recommend you find something else to fill your time.

    I had played Borderlands 2, and was intrigued by the gameplay and general story leading in to Borderlands 3. I know the story wasn't terribly strong in 2, but it was still decent enough, if very predictable. In 3, the story largely ignores the set up from the interim games, and is not just predictable, but skirts by predictable plot points by going for threads that are less predictable because they are so much weaker than what you could extrapolate on your own. Side quest stories are rather weak, and despite having a massive catalog of characters to choose and utilize, they are all very two dimensional and have little growth. Don't worry about your own character's arc though; they'll never show up in any of the cutscenes (bar one, and they don't have any impact then) despite several cutscenes where they might have been able to make up for the "main crew"'s stunning idiocy in several scenes, or sudden loss of powers as the writers couldn't think of a way forward with the plot otherwise.

    The 'humor' gets very grating as well, with several sections repeating the same joke until either you go insane, complete the quest (which drags on and on) or just turn off dialogue volume (a certain 'Escort npc' on the final planet comes to mind, as does a robot-woman making chimp sounds; it's not anywhere near as funny as it sounds). If not repeating the same joke ad nauseam, it's being drowned in every single aspect of the game going for 'wacky-kooky-silly' humor where everything is a joke, at which point the humor spreads into a thin boring mire that loses its lustre and drowns you in cringy outdated jokes and pop-culture references. Some characters are just paper-thin jokes that shoot guns, which can be done well when handled by more competent writers, but in Gearbox's hands are done a disservice (such as Aurelia Hammerlock, who apparently was a more fleshed out character in the interim games; here, she is "I am better than you because I am rich and you aren't" and "I'm an Ice-Cold **** (Because she's mean and uses ice powers, get it?) and that's about it for her character).

    Enough of my complaints of how poorly written a bloody Borderlands game is, and on to gameplay! It's...alright. Gunplay is decent, but you'll often find you'll out-level areas really quickly if you do all the side quests in the zones as well as all the challenges which takes relatively little time. Enemies never get smarter than "wobble back and forth between open areas and partial cover", even towards the end of the game; they just get more bullet-spongy. Bosses are not much smarter, as they don't use cover due to their massive healthbars; only a couple use unique abilities, and even then it's largely the arena. Enemy scaling is all over the place, with areas sometimes scaling to your level to afford you a challenge and sometimes not (though this may just have been due to story purposes).

    If you thought that having several planets to travel to now would make the world open up more, then I am sorry to say you have been misled. The world(s) are even more linear feeling than in Borderlands 2, though the terrible map might trick you into thinking otherwise. Mission design is rather plain, with practically every single one being "go to place and shoot the dudes", often contriving terrible reasoning for a quest to have dudes to shoot. Interfaces continue to be terrible, which they seem to not have learned from Borderlands 2. There is even a second interface you need to go to every now and then to receive extra powerful weapons, though most often you'll just end up selling them. Additionally, the interface will often bug out and swap equipment icons around, so you better be careful when selling items to make sure you don't actually sell something you wanted to keep-best to favourite every good item you come across the moment you find it, which means slowing down the 'fast-paced shoot and loot gameplay' even more than it already does itself. The game ends very poorly, with the only reward being a legendary (the game gives them out in spades) and the option to play it again but harder now.

    As for stability, many people I talked to had issues with it crashing and bugging out, as well as frequent frame drops. Personally I lucked out, as I didn't have any frame drops aside from whenever I first loaded the game up or occasionally when zoning into a new area. I did have several other bugs though; a couple CTD's out of nowhere, as well as a bug where when I teleported into a fast travel point I was stuck and unable to do anything outside of fast travel elsewhere (though I was still stuck and needed to quit the game). I consider myself lucky on that front.

    Overall, this game is not worth the dollars. Poorly written, poorly optimized/tested, an awful repetitive slog through a miserably bad story.    … Expand

    This game looks really nice and has the weapons diversity you want from Borderlands. The world has also been expanded from the previous games which was well done.
    Thats about it though, otherwise the game itself gets aggravating quick with the horrible never ending punchlines, new garbage parkour system that never works and constant frame drops. There's better ways to spend $100

    I have played the series since Borderlands 1 came out, played every game, and every dlc, except in Borderlands 3. I have played Borderlands to 100% but stopped playing it after that and before dlcs came out. What made me stop playing it even if new content have come out?     Pros:
    - YOU GOT LOADS OF GUNS (Just like alot of other games nothing special here)
    - The environmental artist did a amazing job and the game world looks absolutely stunning.
    - The overall combat mechanics feels more smooth with slides and slams (slams kinda bugged tho)
    - egh thats really it.

    Cons:
    - The pacing of the game is horrible. imagine having traffic lights on a highway and you get red every time you get to it, that is how it feels like. You have awesome shootouts with enemy and then you need to wait what feels like 10-30 minutes of boring talking because the characters are so hollow it makes you want to stop playing.
    - NO REAL ENDGAME ON RELEASE?!??! yes, there is no raid boss on release! what were they thinking?
    - Killing vault monsters and opening vaults feels very unrewarding.
    - Game filled with BUGS
    - Game is NOT optimized at all. I could run 70 fps on highest settings and 100 fps on lowest settings like wtf. So I just played with highest settings because it looks absolutely trash on lowest.
    - The story, world and character building is so bad.
    - You remember how much people hated on Troy and Tyreene? well they aren't what I hate about the game, Troy actually had some character development, while this certain PRICK wanted me to not play 2nd playthrough because I had to listen to her again.
    - THE ENDING MAKES NO SENSE.
    - Oh yea endgame by mayhem mode? no it actually sucks. Just makes things harder and boring to play.
    - Ah balance is something. They **** butchered anything that would seem possible in the other games, like CAPPING SOME SKILLS TO BE USELESS EVEN WITH 10 LEVELS IN IT (Looking at you moze)
    - Totally forgot! There is no persistence in anything story related to the franchise or universe.
    - Humor what is that? Even Dad jokes are more fun that this pile of ****

    I would recommend if they removed the PRICK from the game, made a different ending, fixed bugs, made actual endgame, made surprising and funny bosses. ACTUALLY JUST MAKE ANOTHER TOTALLY DIFFERENT GAME BECAUSE THIS FRANCHISE IS NOW DEAD.    … Expand

    Its borderlands 2 with improved graphics, poor humor, and sjw propoganda. In other words, just play bl2 lol this game isnt what you want it to be.

    Gearbox has a problem: the fantastic Borderlands 2 is too good to be beaten. But in the case of Borderlands 3, it is still more than a worthy successor. The filmmakers brought many pop-cultural references, maybe pushing too hard on how they want to be “modern”, but otherwise it's a great game again. [Issue#298]

    Borderlands 3 offers a generous experience, with colourful characters, neat gameplay and a charming universe. Its formula, very close to that of the previous episodes does not revolutionize the show but its small new features bring a little freshness and the scenario makes us want to go to the end of the adventure. Its dynamism and nervousness make it a choice piece for adrenaline-ready FPS lovers and license fans.

    The fun, humorous storyline, some great dialogue and theatrical accents of the diverse characters, beautifully varied locations and the same great gunplay that Borderlands is renowned for, means that Borderlands 3 becomes another must have title in the series.
