    The death of my interest in Borderlands as a series. Will be avoiding 2K/Gearbox/Epic from here on out. Anti-consumer practices are never sexy.

    B1 was great, B2 was ok, but this is just tedious. Lacks all the charm of the previous two games and decidely unfunny

    - The only thing it has of an rpg is the fact that it has levels. RPG is about the RP for f*s sake.
    -Story is as bad as borderlands 2, bad characters, bad plot, and horrible ending that is annoying.
    -Enemies feel repetitive, you will be tired of fighting the same enemies but with different skins.
    -HORRIBLE OPTIMIZATION. Lots of frame drops, also it will mean that you wont be able to properly play this thing before a major update.

    Should be a zero but people have said the game is fun so I will give them the benefit of doubt. However I can't play the game. When it did launch it was jumpy and was unplayable. A restart and now the game has either crashed or more of the same. Contacted support and ....... That was Thursday and I have yet to hear anything back 5 days later.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. to say the least. They were more annoying side bosses than main villans. They've had years to do this game right and it feels half baked. Cash grab even. Every story mission I got the sense they crammed as much of a fight to stall the storyline because they themselves knew there was no substance. It was always feeling like a stall. The usual business like most of the time I agree which is familiar like a Borderlands game but once I finished the story I lost all desire to continue playing. Once I managed to force myself to continue I hit the level cap and again realized that the balance in mayhem mode is a mess and don't get me started on boss battles. The one boss being stuck inside a building and him teleporting constantly right next to me led to some serious loss of funds I had to change my tactics over and over until I managed to use a corrosive weapon in a door way going across over and over wearing him out. The other bosses seemed weak repetitive and boring. For a game that's had this much time to get it right I am genuinely unhappy with the results and if there's ever another title I will more than likely hesitate to pre order. Hopefully the dlc reclaims my enjoyment in the game and bring in new vault hunters that aren't copied from previous or neutered by today's standards of gender. It's a video game don't make it political. Fix your problems. Mindless violence in games are epic but not when they are forcing it down your throat in a boring repetitious manner that leaves a bad taste just playing. It's a popular game and I'm sure there are others just as disappointed!… Expand

    Played this game for about 200 hours as Amara, game should still be in Beta, there is way too many bugs.
    I had lost all my items from bank, my guardian rank went from 97 to 0,
    Online game play is crap.
    Im not going to even talk about how optimized this game is and that i dip into 39fps on low settings with 1080ti strix.

    Absolutely terrible story due to bad writing, plain and simple. It's unbearable. Humor and story are the worst written parts of a game I've ever heard. That along with a terrible port, hard crashing more than 12 times in 24 hours of game play is unacceptable

    i made a account specifically to review this game. This is only about the game not the epic exclusivity. I just completed the main story of the game and my god was it trash. Many of the interesting characters you love are cut from the game or have limited voice lines. Brick is present for like 20 min, mordekai is there for like 3 lines, krieg made no appearance in main story with thei made a account specifically to review this game. Ava being a super annoying piss poor plot device used to create tension. She is instantly annoying and later hated. Scooter died in the tales of the borderlands spin off game so there goes alot of fun opportunities there. All around it seems like the main story is dominated by female characters, which im not against but none of them are funny except for tannis, and tina. Tina btw is also in the game for like 35 min. The villans are annoying and a complete downgrade from handsome jack. Where jack was evil but liked due to humor. Troy and tyrene are annoying, they try too hard to be bad and it feels like their design in terms of personality was built buy middle school edgy kids. Without spoiling whom they killed of 2 of my favorite characters as their only means of shock and awe. I firmly believe that they kill of characters in a world where resurrection exits simply because they cant make drive you to want to get revenge otherwise. Plot wise characters taking themselves off of the new u grid only is there so they can kill of characters for what they think is a interesting plot device. Essentially what i am getting at is the story is so bad it makes me want to put down the game ignoring all the cool loot that is out there to be gotten.
    The game does greatly improve the gunplay, weapon variety, vehicles, and character ability trees. while both of the female characters seem way too two dimensional for my liking they are still fun to play. every character now has 3 ultimates to choose from, augments for the abilites that can be changed at will. Weapons and weapons sounds are way better offering even whites to be useful, and newly added vehicle customiaztion. In the end the game mechanically is a complete upgrade but the story is lacking in so many areas i dont even want to new game plus. Just thinking about sitting through that child level story makes me want to drop bl3 and just replay bl2.

    TLDR: Story is god tier trash, gameplay is really good. Story so bad i wouldnt play unless on sale for at LEAST 50% off.    … Expand

    The story/campaign is quite lengthy or maybe it was just that i just wanted it to end since it was so bad that it felt like it would never end... I gritted and powered through the story hoping for ANYTHING good or quality storytelling.
    Any major plot point is just bad executed to create cheap shock value that just ends up ruining the story even more.

    Of course we have ton of loot... but the loot system devalues legendaries in such away that you either have found tons of legendary weapon that let's you be ridiculously overpowered through out the game eliminating any challenge or eliminating the need to farm for a legendary since you will just look at the legendary drops with your full legendary inventory and just ignore it since they don't have any value at all.
    In short all the excitement from finding a legendary is gone with the wind.

    Since the game is such a bore to playthrough, i'm simply can't bring myself to tryout another vault hunter and playthrough it all again, I just can't. In BL2 there were always something i didn't mind doing again with a new character.

    And lastly the humor that made you chuckle through out your playthrough is almost non-existent, the quality is just been lowered and it's seems afraid to offend some people.

    One thing that does not count to my rating of BL3 base game is the DLCs they are what the base game shoul've been: memorable, fun, good characters etc. So if you want to play BL3 get the DLCs to get some value from the game.    … Expand

    I was expecting graphical improvements. This is an insult. No Ray Tracing, No God Rays, No Bloom, only blurry and washed out textures, half of the damn grass has no AO or shadows. BIG RUBBISH

For some reason the Tabs have been removed so now you have to use IKJL to switch menus and TAB (the usual shortcut for the ECHO) is now "open last menu". *The whole Hype over different planets    Dull, copy paste experience with a slight Texture upgrade.

    *The whole Hype over different planets which the devs made it seem like it's a big thing... is nothing more than just another instance. No different than the DLCs from BL2. In fact this entire game feels like a Map Pack for BL2.

    *Main Villains. Every time they pop up. I get motivated to do a murder suicide. Maybe that was the point? But the most annoying part is. These 2 brats get to ... not gonna say any spoilers but they get to Outperform Handsome Jack. The nerve.

    *Literally the only thing this game has "new" or "fun" is the new characters and a new Skin selection menu that allows you to customize your colors. Everything else. Including the monsters... is a reskin.

    *But hey... at least they added 9999 guns right? 90% of which are completely useless because they all feel the same just with different skins.
    There are the usual 5 gun types and Each gun type has at most 3 different variants. It's either Raw, Elemental or has an Effect. Some of them also have unique sub categories. Rocket launchers can be grenade launchers, saw launcher or flamethrowers. Sounds great right? It isn't.
    Out of all those guns, you will only use about 5%.

    *And now... the BIGGEST f*** drawback of this game. Horrible programming. out of 12 Main Missions, 12 of them got stuck.
    I was able to pass 11 of them using clipping or "turning it off and on again", But the 12th mission couldn't get unstuck no matter what.
    Tried everything. Even made a NEW character. Deleted my old saves.
    Re-installed the entire game.
    Still got stuck at the exact same place with only a minor variation.
    Every god damn mission i have to ALT TAB and go to some forum to find a fix.
    Not a single god damn properly programmed Mission Trigger.
    F*** this game. Borderlands 76 is it's real name.    … Expand

    This game is out for almost two weeks and they still did not fix the Troy boss fight which one shot you and to fix it you have to exit to main menu and go back to the boss fight.
    Lazy ass quality assurance.

    Do you guys remember a time when games used to be fun? When games were about escapism, and not about fringe political correctness? This game is not fun, and it is poorly optimized. For the money they ask, there should have been more testing to insure better performance. NOT recommended.

    Considering Gearbox's experience, this is the equivalent of someone like Apple releasing a phone in which iOS keeps crashing and restarting itself after 20 minutes of usage. The new characters are uninspiring and look like they were thought up in a day, in fact the actual game looks like it was put together from start to finish within 3 months.     Borderlands 1-2 were great games, 3, however, fails horrendously in comparison. If you want to pay full price for a buggy experience written by high school kids then go for it. I can't take it anymore, incredibly boring and obnoxious.

    This happens mostly with bosses which can make playing intolerable along with the GODAWFUL commentary of 90% of the sidekick characters in the game and the out right ruining of some from the first 2 games.

    As far as the bugs go there are so many I cannot list them all.

    The frame rate for me was fine but the constant crashes, insanely long load times, clipping through the map, getting stuck constantly in walls/objects, and not being able to continue due to errors in the game when you kill certain enemies that should let you continue a quest line but....don't.

    The 2 main enemies are tripe trash that are supposedly like you tube bloggers or twitch streamers.
    if they are they make current day streamers look like real gods lol. With no clear goals and somehow able to get untold masses to follow them through the dumbest Streams ever they make me with handsome jack somehow could come back and the main villain for the third time in a game just so I would have someone interesting and fun to fight against.

    If you want to play borderlands go back to 1 and 2 3 isn't worth your time.    … Expand

    1) BULLET SPONGES: Everything, even the most mundane footsoldier takes multiple clips to kill, even with critical hits.     1) BULLET SPONGES: Everything, even the most mundane footsoldier takes multiple clips to kill, even with critical hits. As for the heavies, you may find yourself spending most of your ammo on a single opponent, who, even with multiple headshots, does not go down. I'm not talking about bosses, here, I mean just MOOKS require an inordinate amount of time and ammo.

    2) Every attack is a wave attack: Dozens upon dozens of opponents, attacking in waves at almost every setpiece. Add to this the magical ability of every last enemy to soak huge amounts of gunfire and it gets TEDIOUS.

    3) Technical problems: Nothing is quite like spending several minutes whittling down a half-dozen bullet sponges only to have a CTD and have to start the entire sequence again. Frame rate drops, freezes and stutters are far too frequent.

    4) The humor is gone. Everything is grim, except for occasional buffoonery from ClapTrap. The hip humor that made 1 and 2 memorable is conspicuously missing, as is character development. The use of allies in some battles is nice, but on the whole, no character made me care the least about what happened to them.

    5) The shooting accuracy has gone to @#!!. I don't know if it's a framerate problem, but it's extremely hard to target down the scope. I don't know why this decision was made, but with the relative weakness of sniper rifles, and the aforementioned bullet sponginess, forget playing a sniper. You can hit several head shots in a row with a standard sniper rifle and still not get the kill.

    I could go on (quest design is poor, the villains are, well, not engaging, etc.) but you get the idea. It's grindy, lacks the feel of a Borderlands game (there's more to it than "a billion guns" each varied only by minor stat tweaks, Randy) and doesn't run stably, even with a high-end PC. Saddens me, since I'm a big fan of 1 and 2, and even 1.5(?)    … Expand

    One of the worst games ive played this year and ive played ac odyssey/ shadow of tomb raider this year. Characters and writing is feminist and boring as hell. Devs force you to do boring side quests by level gating the (boring) main quests. Just avoid this.

    The Bad - No skipping cutscenes? Confusing UI, Terrible Antagonists - No really they are so bad you don't even want to go and kill them, just to avoid seeing them again.

    Really long and frustrating and dull game with bad teen "sci"-fi unentertaining plot with primitive gamedesign such as "here a side-quest, go to location you wiped while doing plot mission so we can use one boring place twice!" with really few fun-to-play episodes.
    Two words about graphics: unamusing and unoptimized.

    This is borderlands 2.5 (when it works)... i'm so confused about the good reviews... if folks would quit buying these "new" games maybe some more creativity would hit these game makers...

    I haven't bought a $60 dollar game in years because of games like this. I match the recommended specs in all but one category(CPU, i5 4690K to the recommended i7 4770), and yet I can't manage a consistent 60 FPS in 1080p on the lowest settings (I drop 10 FPS every time I aim down sights). They really haven't changed much to make it a different game from the previous installments.

    At the    I haven't bought a $60 dollar game in years because of games like this. I match the recommended specs in all but one category(CPU, i5 4690K to the recommended i7 4770), and yet I can't manage a consistent 60 FPS in 1080p on the lowest settings (I drop 10 FPS every time I aim down sights). They really haven't changed much to make it a different game from the previous installments.

    At the very least, wait for some optimization patches, better yet, save your $60 and play the pre-sequel again.    … Expand

Have all the games, all the expansions, etc. But in every single instance, I've only played couch co-op    It's a hard time to be a game developer right now. Fans are ravenous for the best possible experience, and are super intolerant of the slightest little things. I just want a good game to play and am not terribly picky.

    Borderlands, though, is a problem. I love the Borderlands series. Have all the games, all the expansions, etc. But in every single instance, I've only played couch co-op with friends or my wife. B3 has all but nuked that ability by making a terribly split screen experience.

    The game is great. We love the graphics, characters, etc. But we're about ready to stop playing and we haven't even finished the first area. "What does that say?" is a question I hear constantly from my wife - and we're playing on a 70" screen. The horizontal split has things so wide we also can't play for very long before one or both of us get motion sickness. Opening menus is a great way to take a break since you can't really both do things at the same time. (We use it as an excuse to check our phones or go to the bathroom.)

    I'm sure the lag problems (and assorted bugs) will be sorted out. But the horizontal split screen has got to go. Gearbox have already said that there were "no plans" to do a vertical split screen option and it's just a shame. I can't even imagine what it must be like on a smaller TV.

    Only characters that kind of fit this in my opinion are Zane and Fl4k.
    Zane is great, because he is not a good guy, and Vault Hunters are supposed to be more Chaotic Neutral and not protectors of the weak.
    The previous Borderlands had awesome female characters, my favorite being Lilith, but in Borderlands 3, the female characters seemed to have been sacrificed for the cause of SJWness.
    Thankfully making Fl4k "Non-binary" appears to be an afterthought, and he is pretty much a he.
    Btw, robots can't be non-binary, because they run off of binary programming.

    Not to mention, the fact they have the ending song singing "That girl is on FIrrREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    I'll ask again, whatever happened to being a badass?
    If I wanted this touchy feely stuff I woulda watched the notebook.

    Story so, so bad. Characters terrible. This is no Borderlands 2. Played many hours hoping it would get better, but it never did. Actual game play and gun fights are fine, but most of the boss fights are pretty dull. Missions are never engaging because you don't care about the story or characters.

I don't understand either how on Earth this game demands so many resources (>= GeForce 1660, 6 GB VRAM for a game that looks like BL 1 ???) it still has screen tearing IF VSync is not set On and stuttering and un-rebindable keys. You morons, not every player uses the outdated WASD, SOME of them use TFGH (by far, superior to WASD!) with Y instead of E. In your crappy console-port Y is bound to Team Chat and cannot be unbound (and other keys too). Your game menus reek of putrid antiquated pieces of trashware scent, prev/next menu Z/C, LALT/CTRL, etc. Guys, you use to be PC gamers, what the hell is wrong with you, design your game having the keyboard and mouse in your minds, not that despicable device ever invented by man, the putrid controller. The PC is the most fascinating, reliable and powerful device invented by man, the keyboard has TONS of buttons to play with (not like that putrid and despicable controllers!), the mouse has pinpoint accuracy (and if it's a gaming one, well, hooah soldier!), its parts can be changed, interchanged, upgraded (if you like hardware tinkering!), the PC is FREEDOM OF GAMING AND MIND. Yet, you cling to those antiquated pieces of trashware AND you have the nerve to ask afterwards *very* powerful resources/rigs for a game which looks like its 2010 version (with small differences in lighting, some textures here and there, some shadowing, etc. *barely* noticeable in a fast-paced shooting).
    The Season Passes
    The Season PassES, because yes, His Illustrious Grace Gearbox pulled this card on the table, with *multiple* ones.
    This is by far, one of the most despicable business practice very similar to that of pre-ordering games. It's like paying whores multiple times in the brothel *before* "engaging" their Blazkowicz services. This despicable practice needs to die in miserable pain along with all developers that implement it. Until now, only His Pandoran Excellency Gearbox pulled this card on the table, I *really* hope that other developers will not follow this putrid scent.
    Once upon a time on Earth, if a game had been successful, it would have been followed by an expansion; nowadays they have the guts to ask in advance for their **** and also to be paid in advance for their **** extra private dances, because, you know, if there is a game, it has to be a DLC too.
    Lets now take a look at their older DLCs successes through the eyes of a game considered successful by some *very* vocal players (on youtube, flexing and showing-off how cool they are in killing some bosses on overpowered levels +72 ->80).
    What statistics say for Borderlands 2:
    1. "Better Than You Were" Reach level 10. Only 67% of players achieved this. That means 1 in 3 players gave up quite early.
    2. "Always Improving" Reach level 25, 40% of the players. Which also means that 6 out of 10 did not bother.
    3. "Cool Story, Bro" 32% of players, that means only 1 in 3 players bothered to finish the main campaign only.
    4. "Capped Out... For Now" Reach level 50. Only 17.3% of players, that means only 3 out of 17. 14 of them went to greener pastures.
    5. "Thresher Thrashed" Terramorphous the Invincible killed, 11%, that means only 1 in 10 players bothered with it.
    6. Completionist Completed all Pirate's Booty DLC side missions. 2.4% of players.
    7. Done That Completed all Hammerlock's Hunt side missions. 1.9% of players, I wonder what other 98 out of 100 players did.
    8. Make it Raaaaaid Vanquished the Ancient Dragons of Destruction. 5.4% of players.
    9. Spicy Boy Defeat Haderax the Invincible. 1.8% of players (!)
    How many players bothered that much to reach "Overpowered level 8", if barely 3 in 17 reached only level 50?
    Were those DLCs *that* successful, if less than 5% of players bothered with?
    This despicable practice of asking in advance for money 1. for unfinished and surely full of bugs products and 2. because "you know, we will deliver in 6-8 months some extra-content (aka 1-2 hrs max **** DLCs, or worse, extra characters to be played with)" should, I repeat, die in miserable pain along with all developers which implement it.
    Does ANY game need Season Pass? No.
    Does ANY game need Season Pass 2? Definitely no.
    Does ANY game need Season Pass 3? Definitely, definitely no.
    Shove all your Season Passes in your throats, by the time you end up publishing your marvelous DLCs which no one cares about, your game will have collected a lot of dust on Steam servers.
    You can easily bundle all your **** DLCs along with the main game into some *unique* GOTY edition (as it was up to 2010, 2011!) without splitting and chopping the content into Deluxe, Gold, Ultimate, Spectacular, Whatever Edition and having the nerve afterwards to ask money for Season Pass 2, 3 and so forth.
    PS. Statistics pulled from Steam achievements. I'm pretty sure that Epic achievements will fall into the same ballpark.    … Expand

Im running a 1080ti and an 6700k OCed and I am seeing dips into the 40is with 40% gpu usage on 1080p Meanwhile I am playing Gears 5 on 4k on High to Ultra with solid 60 fps.

    horrible fps drops, als, my console crashed while playing this game, more then once, i stoped playing couse i was afraid to brake my console for ever. the gameplay is fun, but the optimization is really bad.

Besides of that, the combat pacing compared to the older borderlands is really slow. Matchmaking overall seems not to work properly, after 5 hours of public campain host, nobody ever joined my game.     The game does look better than borderlands 2, but even with a 2070 my friend and I could hardly run the game at 60 on high settings without having major stuttering on occasions. It is clear that the game needed more time to be worked on, like how using directX 12 is really broken.
    Also, the humor of the game in the initial scenes i played was not funny at all. I have a brand new computer with a r5 3600 and 5700. when first released i would easily get 100 - 120 fps on high settings. now i can barely keep it at 75 with 90 fps being the max. there are micro stutters when aiming down the sights and other various things that cause it. the game has crashed on me about 15 times basically once an hour or so. wish companiesThe game is fun when it works.     Very demanding for a game that doesnt look anything near as good as gears 5 (built on the same engine)

    My biggest problems are the crashes to desktop (happens in both api's) and the game breaking quest bugs

    1) bosses disappear and I cant progress (had to restart)
    2) quest map arrows get mixed up (points me to the objectives on different quests)
    3) crashes to desktop (far too frequent for me, happens regardless of what API I use)
    4) 4 to 8 second 'freeze' (could have been network related due to denuvo nonsense), happened a few times

    People seem to fall into two categories for this game

    1) people experiencing bugs
    2) people who have not had them yet

    It's sad as what is there is legitimately fun, without the bugs I would give it an 8 out of 10

    Really wish I had waited and read more user reviews instead of the cherry picked launch days reviews designed to showcase the game in the best light and sweep all of the bugs under a rug.

    I am not trusting ANY launch day review that gave this game more than a 5 as it simply doesnt deserve more in it's current state.

    The gameplay has improved over serious titles, shooting is fun, unfortunately Gearbox seem bent on crashing the one train still running, every hotfix comes with new nerfs, Instead of balancing the game by making other things stronger they destroy every fun build the players have created.... in a PVE game.     Add FFXII-like annoying characters in Ava, the twins and Typhon, unskippable cutscenes, annoyingly OP anointed enemies (yet no twitch streamers are calling for nerfs to these), writing on the level of Game of Thrones season 8, and an endgame mechanic (Mayhem Mode) which just isn't fun (and even though it wasn't fun in the first place, it got nerfed) - and you have an extremely disappointing sequel to what is probably my favorite series of all time.

    The only positive is that some maps are quite fun (particularly low-grav maps). I doubt I will ever play the DLCs that I've already paid for.    … Expand

    Haven't really had any technical issues but the game is about 75% less fun than the first two and while there are a ton of guns almost all of them are useless with the only good guns coming from cheating and using the golden keys over and over and over and over until your eyes are bloody.

    I find I can only play in spurts of an hour or so before I get completely bored or frustrated and have to give it a rest.

    Unfortunately, I am too far in for a refund.

    Avoid unless you are a masochist.

    The loot: Loot is worth nothing in this game. I had been flushed with epics and legendaries on my first normal run of this game. At the end i had like 50 legendaries in my stash and my gear was orange-purple.
    They **** up looting in a loot shooter.
    The sound design: I played as Moze, and idk what they where thinking but the sound design is so annoying and bad. If you sprint for aroun 10 seconts she starts panting permanently and loudly and no, you can't turn that off. Why even add that panting ? This game has no stamina system so its complete useless and just annoys the player for no reason.
    The **** I mean Borderlands had strong female caracters from the first game on, but let the story 90% of the time get's carried by women just seems overdone.
    There are exactly 3 male persons that are important for the story, and 2 of them are robots, it's just awnkard how hard they tried.
    The story: It's not exactly bad, its just boring and you can predict most of the stuff happening. Also having one of the main (female) persons have a heroic sacrifice to safe the entire universe with a never seen or used power is just.... bad storytelling
    The fanservice: Well most not-female persons from the previous games just have briefly apperances. Even in the final battle they are just not there and completely unimportant. Just sad to dump so many good caracters    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Borderlands 3 overall is a solid game when it comes to gameplay but lacks the writing to make the game compelling. I was not expecting the game to be a Borderlands 2 by any means and was hoping for just a good looter shooter. Well it was good at looting and shooting but the rest of it did not hold up.

    Now this game was difficult to review as I feel the game is better than the original in terms of gameplay…. yet I was not happy or thrilled when I was playing it. The vault hunters you get to pick where mostly ok but honestly, I didn’t really feel they had character like the previous series. None of them where compelling and mostly just had generic dialogues. The game itself also felt a bit easy for me and I didn’t feel much of a challenge throughout the main story. I do like the gunplay and the extra variety of guns they introduce so that’s a plus. Skill tree is still cool but nothing new from previous titles. So overall my experience with just the game itself without adding into the story is roughly 6/10. Enjoyable enough but average.

    Now when you add in the story, things get a lot worse. I hated how the story progressed. One of the most annoying non compelling villains that I just hate. Borderlands 2 had a very good villain that you know is as villain, but you enjoy how great he is as a character. Borderlands 3 completely does not have that same magic at all for their villain. Making them this streamer attitude kids who doesn’t have the same charisma or depth. The game also added in a horrible character name AVA and I hated her. There is nothing else to say but after a certain turning point in a game where this kid is now part of the crew, I stopped playing the game from the original release date…. until a week ago. After finishing the game my view has not changed. Poorly written character growth, underserving character death and horrible villains. This game was a slog to get through because of the story. There are small aspect here and there that feels like they understood Borderlands universe and then the rest of it is just pulling random powers ups out of thin air and making one of the WORSE characters in the game the center point of the game. So the story is a 2/10. It gets 2 points for having Tiny Tina and to have a memorial statue of a previous character in the game. That is it.

    So there are some games that are enjoyable without paying attention to the story. Mario for example is fun with a simple story that doesn’t get in the way. You can’t say the story is great but it isn’t a negative aspect. God of War has amazing gameplay and amazing story that helps it immensely. Earth Defense Force is by far the stupidest game in terms of story however has a very fun gameplay that doesn’t hamper the overall game. The Last of Us Part 2 is an okay game when it comes to gameplay but with very bad story that hampers the enjoyment of the game. Borderlands 3 falls into the same category of being an average game with a horrible story. The company already has a long history of being horrible towards their developers as well as the CEO is one of the worst out there…. I don’t believe I would be excited to play from anything else from this company. 4/10 play Borderlands 2 instead    … Expand

If you want new Borderlands experience you need to try Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, they somehow made GOTY for me with that game. Borderlands 3 on the other hand... worst pre-release purchase (except Battlefield 2042)

At the bare minimum, they could have explored the now trope of a chapter involving your accidental ingestion of psychotropics (Fallout 3....hospital bed with balloons, anyone?).

    Borderlands 3 has none of this. It's a straight forward shooter from start to finish, with a change of scenery from time to time. I have no doubt that at some point the Powers recognized they had an addictive formula and decided they'd gone as far as necessary. "Great...just make more of the game but exactly with this formula" and called it a day.

    Again, that's great if you want people to be addicted in the way they're addicted to an illicit drug. I.e. technically being addicted in that they feel they must play for dozens of hours, but factually finishing feeling like they'd gone through a woodchipper and wishing something else had pervaded their time.

    If you want a game feeling like a complete fulfilling experience, like an epic movie or novel....or an epic game series like a Fallout or Skyrim....this is not it. If your barometer for a "good" game is how many hours you mentally feel compelled to play, then you've found a gem. If you understand that if playtime is only thing you get from the game but you leave feeling like you were working a job for minimum wage for 5 years because nobody else in the industry was offering any better, you might want to hold off.    … Expand

    Now I have to agree, I certainly did take my time with this review, however now that I`ve seen the new tales, I decided to leave this one, since BL3 has been rubbing me the wrong way, ever since it came out. While I have to agree that it is superior to BL2 in most areas (namely sound effects, gun play etc) it did fail to deliver a compelling story, quite the opposite in fact.     As a Borderlands fan from the beginning, I am extremely disappointed in this latest title. From the technical aspects to the overall gameplay, it feels unrefined. Gearbox had more than enough time to test and refine their product. This is unacceptable! I want to enjoy this game! The more I play, the more I discover is broken.

    - Like most everyone is saying, I can confirm that the game does indeed run like hot garbage and is buggy. Lots of FPS dips and small freezes/stuttering.     - I already wasn't impressed with the writing and characters from the different videos/trailers they put out. Tried playing the new Siren and yeah, definitely still wasn't a fan of her personality and abilities. In my opinion, they keep making the Siren class worse and worse with each successive game.
    - I only played a little but in that time I didn't experience any really cringe writing (it's Borderlands, being cringy is kind of par for the course though) but none of it was good. Just meh.
    - Multiplayer aspect sucked, nobody ever joined my game when I set it to public. When I joined another game it was with one other person who was doing a quest i hadn't even started, who was already almost done with that quest, and who was way the **** on the other side of the map. When I went back to single player, a ton of content was now skipped because I had joined him and it advanced it for me. What a joke of a game.

    Anyways, the poor performance and bugs was more than enough to request the refund. I hear the game is pretty short and doesn't do much innovative - it's just more of the same, and it does seem that way. Not worth $60 imho and not worth supporting such terrible practices. Few other industries get away with the kind of BS that video game developers are allowed to get away with. It's sad.    … Expand

    For starters the game seems to have lost hits charm humour wise, although maybe its just because I have grown up a bit. Their seems to be a lot of corridors and exploration doesn't seem as open as BL2.     do not buy this game, gearbox does not deserve your money, they have bought out so many media corporations to try and make this game sound and look good and they also made the game exclusive to epic games store to try and make more money,

    Gearbox has a problem: the fantastic Borderlands 2 is too good to be beaten. But in the case of Borderlands 3, it is still more than a worthy successor. The filmmakers brought many pop-cultural references, maybe pushing too hard on how they want to be “modern”, but otherwise it's a great game again. [Issue#298]

    Borderlands 3 offers a generous experience, with colourful characters, neat gameplay and a charming universe. Its formula, very close to that of the previous episodes does not revolutionize the show but its small new features bring a little freshness and the scenario makes us want to go to the end of the adventure. Its dynamism and nervousness make it a choice piece for adrenaline-ready FPS lovers and license fans.

    The fun, humorous storyline, some great dialogue and theatrical accents of the diverse characters, beautifully varied locations and the same great gunplay that Borderlands is renowned for, means that Borderlands 3 becomes another must have title in the series.
