Charming, beautiful, and immense amounts of fun, Tearaway Unfolded is the perfect platformer for all ages.

Trackmania Turbo is like a Scalextric set for your console. As an arcade racer, it 's possibly the most fun you can have with the laws of physics. Some may be put off by the lack of a more competitive race mode, but for the majority, this colourful, simple and above all, addictive game is one of the most enjoyable racers to hit consoles in quite some time.

Hunt: Showdown is a solid game, with genuine thought put into making it play in a distinct way, but it feels too anonymous in every other key area to be essential within the genre.

It should be enough to accept that Lone Survivor is a game that rewards players who invest time and, more importantly, attention into it, and however you decide to run through it you should have a disturbingly confused hoot.

Chaos Theory has two big things going for it, the character of Max and its final cutscene. If it wasn’t for these two factors, our time of enjoying Life Is Strange may have been up. Its gameplay has become rather tedious and the lack of elaboration in Max’s time travelling usage is a severe let-down.

Ghostrunner is a high-octane adrenaline rush of a game with exciting gameplay, a great soundtrack and creative level design, however performance issues and inconsistent platforming keep it from being perfect.

Suzerain is a compelling political drama/simulation and if you have the patience for great walls of text and often punishing decision-making, this is the game for you.

A worthy successor to the original, Overcooked 2 delivers in all the ways you'd want it too, with room for a little more.

Gorgeous to look at, still a blast in co-op, brimming with solid content and the new petrol head angle, Skylanders SuperChargers is a solid addition to the already well established franchise. Not every-one will take to the new found love of cars but the target audience will lap it up.

The capstone to a brilliant game, Polarized is a little too melodramatic to feel fully satisfying.

An adorable and gorgeously designed puzzle game that, despite minor technical issues is a joy to play.

Despite all this, with the raucous chaos of multiplayer mode, Helldivers is still capable of being engrossing for long periods.

We can’t wait to see the conclusion to the story we started back in January, as well as playing the role of Max one last time. It’s been a long and bumpy ride, but we’re glad we are on board.

Even though its quite simplistic, I really enjoyed Box VR. Its music is great and its design is well thought out. It may feel a bit light on features but the game gets you straight into the action and burning off those calories. What more can you ask for? It is great fun and a good workout to boot.

With this iteration you have something which although better with a steering wheel is equally playable with a Dualshock 3, a crowning achievement for the team. Gran Turismo 6 is something that will keep folk entertained for hours of in-game play over years of real-time whilst we wait for something bigger and better.

Persona Q2's gameplay is a clever offshoot from Persona 5's highly refined battle system and is a consistently fun challenge. It's story isn't quite the serious social commentary of it's console sibling, but the fun and fan service on offer is fantastic.

Over a decade after their first releases, the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy collates and returns the courtroom sleuth to the limelight in style. As funny and gripping as it ever was, fans of crime dramas as well as language and logic puzzles are going to love Wright's redux.

Get packed is fun, well designed and has something you do not see a lot of these days. It is full of co-op fun and playing with people sitting next to you is amazing. You will laugh, you will cry and you will certainly enjoy yourself. Right, I best get back to the packing.

I cannot find a bad thing to say about Creature in the Well. The gameplay is fun and unique, the trophy list is enjoyable and the presentation is amazing. I was obsessed while playing it and I did not want it to end. Unfortunately though, it did. Roll on the sequel, please can we have a sequel?

Game Dev Tycoon has a wide appeal to different audiences. As well as being a great introduction to management sims, there's enough to keep long time fans interested as well. It's fun, sometimes silly in the best kind of way, and hard to put down once you get started.

If you like turn-based RPG’s or card battlers you will adore this game.

It’s ridiculously entertaining and has almost escaped the oo-rah jingoism so closely associated with the brand - it feels like the next great leap could allow it to break free from the shackles of convention and do something completely radical. As it is it’s polished, entertaining and well worth a try, even for lapsed Call of Duty players.

Katamari Damacy REROLL is a surreal, silly and above all fun game with more than enough oddity to entertain all but the most jaded of souls. This entry isn't the most complex or challenging, but it's an ideal starting point for new players on PC and Switch alike.

Technical difficulties aside, Horace is an endearing, nostalgic, platforming masterpiece. Even after having to start fresh at one point, I could not wait to jump right back in and play more. Which is pretty telling considering that, at its heart, this is a game about a robot cleaning up garbage. Once properly patched up to correct the minor technical issues, this game would whole-heartedly be a 10 out of 10 for this writer.

There is a very good reason why Fall Guys has taken the world by storm already; it is absurdly, addictively brilliant fun. Give in to the jelly beans, you will not regret it.

Void Bastards might be the perfect introductory roguelite for beginners. Retaining all of your hard-earned weapons and upgrades across deaths – coupled with not starting on the same boring level with every new character – makes this a more user-friendly take on the genre than we’re used to. The nail-biting tension that it starts with doesn’t last for the entire journey, but it’s worth experiencing for the gorgeous aesthetic alone.

A must-own title for PlayStation fans.

The game is made up of five chapters, and the final chapter of the game does begin to show promise as it's far more direct and brings back memories of classic adventures. The problem is that it takes a huge amount of time to reach that point.

A silly alternative to the modern shooter, Garden Warfare 2 doesn't take itself too seriously and is all the better for it.

All in all, Madden 25 is a decent, if not revolutionary sign-off for the franchise for this generation of consoles, and no doubt we’ll see it continue on the Xbox One and PS4. While it would have been nice if they’d played up the nostalgia a bit more (like they did with NHL 14), it’s a fine game of football.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition takes an already fantastic game, improving both the visuals and performance in the process all for a modest fee which many publishers should pay attention to.

It’s Lego, it’s Marvel, it’s pretty awesome - a must for any kid who loves The Avengers, X-Men, Spiderman, hell there is too many to name! There are still some issues that have come across from previous Lego games preventing it from being a perfect experience but its audience won’t care one little bit. Hulk smash!

Despite feeling new and familiar, and at times plodding and rushed in turn, Obsidian are proudly wearing the mantle left by Black Isle and have crafted another enjoyable story for fans of isometric CRPGs.

Due to the bleak landscapes, the depressing situations your characters find themselves in and the challenging tactical combat, this is a game for those who will find the challenge rewarding rather than those looking for lighter entertainment.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is fun, with its many activities and a rewarding gameplay loop. There is nothing better than rocking up to a monastery with your raucous crew and robbing them blind.

Clever developments to gameplay and visuals make this sequel an exciting progression that can become an act of patience when the numbers stop going your way.

Going Under is a brilliant first release from Aggro Crab Games, combining challenging gameplay, rewarding combat and a wealth of possibilities in terms of both the dungeons and the enemies. Though let down by a myriad of performance issues and bugs, fixes are promised in upcoming patches, as is a variety of post-launch content. For £15.99, you can't go wrong.

With an enchanting art style Crown Trick is a delight to play, yet is challenging and frustrating before you master its combat system.

Although Outlast’s probably not a game you’ll revisit once completed, it’s certainly somewhere you’ll remember for a while to come.

Old, familiar concepts and designs mix with the new in this worthy re-release. Owners of the original game wont find much new here, but for the many that missed Super Mario Bros. U the first time are in for a treat, especially those with friends or family to play alongside them.

A fantastic entry point for those who are unfamiliar with the series as well as being a great addition for long time fans. Torna ~ The Golden Country manages to be approachable and enjoyable for everyone. The new changes to combat really help make things more interesting and the world is huge. Definitely worth a play.

Neon Abyss is colourful, bright and a lot of fun. While I found a lot of the room layouts and levels a tad repetitive, there is enough there to keep you entertained. The mini-games and weapons are great. It looks good, sounds awesome and will find a home in any rogue-like fans gaming collection.

From it's cute inhabitants to its picture book environments, Ghost Giant is a joy to be part of. It's perhaps a bit on the short side but the time you spend here will be fun and immersive. The story is very moving and surprisingly deep. It's soundtrack pushes you through the story nicely and accentuates it's more emotional parts beautifully. Interacting with its world is glorious and I have never felt part of a VR games world more than I did here.

Coming as it does then at the end of a the PlayStation 3’s lifecycle God of War: Ascension is a stunning technological achievement which will always satisfy but rarely wow given the ever-decreasing gains as you move from a launch window to year seven of a particular hardware setup.

Gathering Storm enhances Civilization VI to such a degree that it is hard to think of this as anything other than the best possible Civ game. The array of new features make every match more interesting, and will keep you coming back for more time and time again.

With an opening chapter weaker than its sequels, The Sly Collection is nevertheless an ideal opportunity to become acquainted (or reacquainted) with Sly, Bentley and Murray.

Bad press aside, I found Pokemon Shield to be a solid entry in the Pokemon franchise. If only the difficulty was a bit elevated for seasoned players.

Puppeteer receives a standing ovation for its visual originality and everyone working behind the scenes should come to the front stage and certainly take a bow.

All told, Under Night is a reliable, enjoyable effort, especially for newcomers.

Boasting solid gameplay and one of the most compelling stories I’ve played in recent times, Metro Exodus’ shift to the striking Russian landscape is not only a worthy successor to the previous entries, but one of the best shooters on the PS4 today.

DOOM Eternal is considered to be one of the best first-person shooters of this console generation. Jump into this fast-paced sequel to DOOM (2016), fight against the arbiters of Hell to save the last surviving humans. Now on the Switch, it’s a feat to behold, because Nintendo isn’t known for FPS’s. The quality may be downgraded and the controls clunky at times, but it’s definitely one of the best Switch ports I’ve ever played.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is an excellent package. Its overly-complex narrative bogs down so much of what makes the game a carefree thrill ride, but a great campaign structure, intense multiplayer and a VR tour de force make this the best game in the storied franchise and one every pilot should pick up.

400 Microsoft points for an hour’s play might seem steep but is fully justified when the product is this good; a promising indication of Telltale’s increasing confidence in the genre and an assurance that we can look forward to season 2 with genuine relish.

Relic have played it safe here, it has to be said. With an admittedly beautiful graphical overhaul and solid mechanics Company of Heroes 2 was never going to be anything less than good. But there are few real developments in terms of gameplay and innovation which may feel like a missed opportunity for ardent fans.

A personal, touching journey wearing the bright red cloak of an intricate puzzle. For a game that doesn’t utter a word, RiME says a lot - and it’s all wonderful.

A mesmerising co-op platformer with gorgeous artwork, Trine 4 has a dreamlike fluidity to its gameplay, an enchanting atmosphere and innovative physics-based puzzles, despite the sometimes underwhelming combat.

As a 21st-century take on 90s platformers, Mekazoo is a winner. It doesn’t set out to tell a story, or dazzle you with power-ups. It trusts in its core mechanics, a handful of cute protagonists and some lovely visuals, and the end result feels like the gaming equivalent of a decent jazz band: it looks good, sounds great, and when all the components pull together you feel like you’re in the presence of something magical.

Smart tweaks to an aging formula, fun characters and an excellent new stealth element more than make up for a disappointing by-the-numbers premise. A true sleeper hit.

Blazing Beaks is a lot of things, all at once, splitting focus between a rogue-lite Story mode and twin-stick local multiplayer shenanigans. Neither mode is perfect, and there might be stronger options available if you’re only interested in one of these genres, but there’s an astonishing level of replay value here, across the board. You’d be quackers to miss it.

It’s Japanese, it’s crazy, it’s fantastic and there’s the best bear character you’ll ever see in a game ever (sorry P4G Teddy!) – just be sure to enjoy the time you spend locked into Hope’s Peak.

The world of Pandora has a vault full of lore and stories to offer, so if this game matches the critical and commercial success of other Telltale games, then we may only have begun to scratch the surface.

If you’re looking to play for a complete experience that will not only test your survival and decision-making skills but also your compassion and moral compass, look no further than This War of Mine.

It may not have the narrative thrust of other Black Isle titles or the likes of Bioware’s slick epics, but Icewind Dale remains an important part of the adventuring landscape for those willing to brave its frosty depths.

A perfect example of learning by playing - Hyper Light Drifter offers a unique experience of exploration and discovery in a beautiful world with a well paced challenge, even if you still have no idea what’s going on by the end.

Enjoyable enough if you liked the first game, but niggling issues stop this sequel from surpassing the original.

So a very good racing game, rather than a great one.

Once the intermittent connection kinks have been ironed out, and with Rockstar promising regular additional content, this one could run and run. If you've finished the main game you might think you're done with Los Santos, but Los Santos isn't done with you.

It makes it all the sadder that this remastering shows little love or respect for the original and fails to gather in the new audience it may deserve.

The game can be completed in approximately six to eight hours, depending on how quickly you master the combat and if you choose to watch the cutscenes. It may not sound like a lot but after giving your thumbs a serious work out, it’s actually just the right amount of time needed to tell Raiden’s story.

Time will tell, for now Metro: Last Light is a solid gorgeous shooter which presents something a little different from the norm, if not as different as the first game in the series.

A refreshing new entry in the Pokémon series that serves as an entry point for new players, and offers up some interesting new challenges for veterans. Don't sleep on this just because it is different.

Untitled Goose Game is unique, well-made and very streamlined. Everything works, it is a lot of fun and unlike anything I have played before. Its not often you get to experience something new so go out there, break stuff and become a real 'Goosance'. It is not often I make up a work but this game deserves it. Its brilliant.
