    Syberia
    Syberia is the first in a trilogy of puzzle / adventure games. It delivers a Victorian charm backed up with great music and images with a simplistic puzzle-solving approach. Though I'd like to recommend it, the price of the game means that you’re better off looking on other platforms.

    Sky Rogue successfully takes its namesake and provides a randomised structure that bypasses mundanity with a sense of challenge and surprise. Combined with immensely satisfying flight controls you’ll want to want to keep coming back to rule the skies.

    Old School Musical
    I could go without the pointless story, but Old School Musical is one of the best rhythm games on the platform at the moment. There's a lot of content to get stuck into, and Switch is the best place to play with its nice HD rumble and console exclusivity. If you're a fan of the genre, or even if you just fancy jamming out to some chiptune, I'd highly recommend this title.

    Duck Souls+
    Duck Souls+ is simply great fun. This game is little more than a character with basic moves and 100 levels in which to use them. But those moves feel so right, and those levels are designed around them so well.

    Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia
    Brigandine: Legend of Runersia is a beautiful-yet-unapproachable masterpiece of a tactical RPG. It’s certainly rough around the edges, with its difficulty and UI being particular points of contention, but well worth the venture if you’re able to stomach it.

    Super Mario Party
    Super Mario Party is the Mario Party title we've all been waiting for, offering a fun and exciting experience for all the family. Although you may lose a few friends playing it, and the control scheme and online offerings leave much to be desired, there is plenty of content on offer and endless hours of fun to be had. Be sure to give all of the new modes a try, and explore all that the interactive plaza has to offer. Just don't spend all your coins at once, or you could be all out of luck..!

    Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido is a title that is abundant with charm and content that is hampered a little by a slightly unwieldy control scheme. That aside, it will take you a while to see all this great game has to offer - and even longer to get the annoyingly catchy yet brilliant theme song out of your head.

    As a Warriors game, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 Deluxe Edition comes a somewhat repetitive hack n’ slash combat that doesn’t do much more than empowering the player. However, if you’re a fan of the anime, you’ll be able to relieve the best moments of Luffy’s adventures as a beautiful game with tons of content to keep you hooked for a very long time.

    Rocket Fist
    Rocket Fist is the type of game that almost everyone can jump into and have a good time. As with many games of this nature however, recommending the title to players who primarily play alone is tough. The adventure mode is enjoyable - but it's also short, and perhaps not worth the asking price alone. That said, multiplayer is where it's at. All you'll have to do is hand a friend a Joy-Con, and soon you'll be beating each other senseless with rocket-propelled robot fists - laughing like crazy.

    forma.8 is Mixed Bag Games’ take on the Metroidvania genre. It combines puzzling and combat with the awe-inspiring exploration of an atmospheric alien world. Not diminished by any of its slips, it’s a compelling adventure of a little charming probe.

    It plays a cracking game of tennis, both with simple mechanics or the enhanced ones and you'll certainly have fun with friends. For the solo player, you'll breeze through the tournaments with ease, though, and that Adventure mode is one of THE most infuriating gaming experiences I've ever encountered, which is a shame.

    Observer may be a little rough around the edges on Switch, but it’s an incredible psychological horror experience, and Bloober are right to refer to it as one of the most advanced cyberpunk games on Switch. With some incredible Sci-Fi dream set-pieces, and a harrowing dystopian world starring Rutger Hauer, it’s easy to recommend.

    The Mummy Demastered
    The Mummy Demastered feels less like a movie tie-in and more like a love letter to the metroidvania genre. The art style will appease a retro gamer appetite while it brings some modern elements to keep it fresh and engaging. If you're a fan of games of this ilk, then it is a must-have purchase. If you're not sure what metroidvania is, give it a go anyway. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

    A fantastic combination of the old and new. Small in content, but Knight Terrors gives a quality experience that you can pick up and play any time. It's really cheap, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that takes their Switch on the go a lot and wants something to pass the time.

    Narita Boy
    Narita Boy is a neon-infused 80s fever dream, casting you as the hero of a microscopic digital system. The aesthetic and audio presentation nails this vibe. Just don’t expect engaging combat or a coherent story.

    Portal Knights
    If you're looking to entertain a kid who's into Minecraft, get onto Portal Knights, because it offers a lot of the same. It's better for youngsters who have a lot of time on their hands, of course - adults will have a tough time getting a satisfactory experience when playing in short bursts. At £24.99 on the eShop, it's overpriced - hopefully the pricing isn't too silly by the time the physical release arrives.

    Darksiders Genesis
    Darksiders Genesis is a wildly different game to Darksiders I and II, and is nowhere near as competent with its design. It is, however, a hell of a lot of fun, with the inclusion of co-op being a standout feature. Paying £350 for the Nephilim Edition is a massive stretch, though.

    The Raven Remastered
    The Raven Remastered is a classic whodunit story, with a genuinely intriguing plot and some great voice acting, particularly from the lovable lead Zellner .The load times may be intrusive at times, and I don’t really know what’s remastered about it (Other than some lighting effects maybe?), but its accessible gameplay make it one to recommend to any friend or family member that may be into their crime fiction.

    Hotshot Racing
    Hotshot Racing is a high-octane racing treat for the Switch. Whilst self-aware of its 90s inspirations, these never get in the way of providing a solid arcade racer – something any current console will benefit from.

    Semblance
    With a soft world that you can bend with your actions, Semblance brings something unique to the 2D platformer. Barring some collision issues, it does provide a steady learning curve, with innovative challenges, all presented with a distinctive art style.

    Starlink: Battle for Atlas
    It's a clever take on a somewhat redundant genre, and it's hard not to be impressed initially with Starlink: Battle For Atlus. Despite some serious repetition there's a whole lot to like here and the Star Fox content makes the Switch version the one to get, if you want it. Its the closest thing to a Nintendo Switch Star Fox but I suspect you could see it in bargain bins before too long.

    Freedom Finger
    Freedom Finger is, potentially, the best game of 2019 that will largely – and wrongfully – go unnoticed. From start to finish, regardless of whether you make it to the narrative end or not, it’s an experience that shouldn’t be missed.

    The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters
    The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters is a memorable, atmospheric adventure, even if it is often a little too dark for my liking. Expect to feel a sense of dread as Dark Song chases you down, and the sound of her footsteps will never fail to send a chill down your spine.

    Immortal Redneck
    There's a lot of fun to be had with Immortal Redneck's clever blend of procedural room generation and tight-ish gunplay. It's ability to reward you the more you fail is a hard hook to jump off of, especially when there's a new adventure waiting for you each time.

    Alder's Blood
    Alder’s Blood takes inspirations from different games to create a unique adventure RPG which blends Western and Victorian-style characters. Due to a focus on stealth, its strategy turn-based combat can lead to some frustrating segments, but a distinct art-style and deep world-building transforms the stressful segments into an overall worthwhile experience.

    Use Your Words
    Much like the likes of WarioWare DIY and Super Mario Maker, Use Your Words is a game that can only be as fun as you, and your friends and family, are willing to make it. It can be a bundle of laughs if your friendship group features one or two comedy geniuses, but without them it could border on the mundane. There’s only so many fart and poop jokes that people can put in as answers before it gets repetitive, and the fact that there’s nowhere else you can really go with the game once you’ve played its only mode a few times make it a tough sell at its current asking price.
