Ghost ‘n Goblins Resurrection is a mighty fine game. It is insanely hard, and it will test you on a variety of levels. New players may be a little turned off by its difficulty, but if you continue to chip away and don’t completely give up, you can make progress. Rest assured, you will die in this game, a lot, but it’s definitely true to form. This is a must have for anyone who is looking for an overbearing challenge, just make sure you don’t take out your frustrations on your poor Joy-Cons.

Having Master Fujiwara back, even if it's briefly, is a real treat. And enjoying a new Ghosts' N Goblins, with superfab 2D aesthetics and mechanics, it's simply a miracle. Just hoping it doesn't take another 15 years to see Sir Arthur in action again.

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrected is an absolute monster of a game, but both a thoughtful redesign and a fully intact foundation make it one that feels glorious to tame at whatever level you play it, as well as a refreshing and colorful adventure all along the way.

And that’s why the addition of Page and Squire difficulty modes is the biggest redeeming factor for this game. Those easier options are there if you need them so you can enjoy the game no matter what your skill level is. All the while, Knight and Legend modes offer an adequate challenge for long-time fans of the franchise.

It takes some great steps in the right direction in terms of modernizing this series – but it doesn't quite stick the landing. [Issue #52 – May/June 2021, p. 22]

Of course, every moment of Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection feels like it could be someone's breaking point. That's the series' legacy: the feeling it champions. If you have a strong nostalgia for these games and whatever feelings they inspired in you, it is a faithful homage. And Capcom deserves credit, to a point, for recreating a game that can stand shoulder to shoulder with Ghosts 'n Goblins, and Ghouls 'n Ghosts, as peers in excruciating gameplay. As entertainment, though, it is an artifact of a time long-past that I'm happy to remember, rather than return to.

They did this PERFECTLY. The art is beyond amazing, every level and area is beautiful, and the gameplay is as good as ever with some new bells and whistles that fir perfectly. This series is where the Souls game got it's difficulty concept from. This new one is well worth the price of admission. Sardius is back, and he must be defeated! Expand

If you're old enough to fondly remember the old Ghost ,' Goblins/Ghpuls n' Ghosts games of the 80's/90's and you still play, be warned you will die A LOT. Buy it when it's on sale. Sometimes the game is truly unfair but if you don't mind pressing the retry button you MIGHT enjoy this f*cker most of the time if you still urge for this brutal difficulty at times... MOST of the time. Side note: Bring back the MAXIMO series, Capcom! BRING IT ON! Expand

Don't play this game on Legend difficulty, it's absurdly difficult and frankly just trying is boring. I only recommend playing this game on a lower difficulty, since it is an unfair game, many times you do not die for lack of skill, but because the game is made so that you die. It is definitely not a game for all gamers, although I must say that I finished the game in Knight mode and had a good time. Expand

Easily the worst game I've played this year. Bought on nintendo switch store, can't even refund. Game is just some stupid bullet hell gameEasily the worst game I've played this year. Bought on nintendo switch store, can't even refund. Game is just some stupid bullet hell game with platforming. I've beat the original game back in the day, and on emulators. Nothing about any of it is enjoyable. Bosses aren't challenging and rewarding, enemies spawn with paths you have to anticipate before they spawn else you're too slow and attacks are too constricted to attack back. You progress through the game because of rote memorization of where mobs spawn and progress from check point to check point little by little because you have to memorize where every enemy is because it spawns and it's literally going to hit you if you do nothing. You spend so much time memorizing enemies and dodging their lame attacks that you just stop having fun and start playing the worst version of a bullet hell game.

The platforming is absolutely awful, like terraria except less forgiving. Jumping from platform to platform with guys that fly by through the screen so they can knock you off and force you to start all the way over. even on the easiest diffficulty I got stuck on this one section for 20 minutes because I just didn't care to hyper-memorize everything because it wasn't fun.
