Crayola Scoot is a fun title and well-rounded package. The control system can be confusing at first, but becomes easier with time. With a single-player campaign and multiplayer to take in, it should have your attention for a while.

The Shrouded Isle is a cult-simulator game that deserves your attention due to its interesting virtue and vice system, and its fascinating story. However, be wary that if you’re not into death and gloom, this may not be the game for you.

Shadow Bug offers a memorable USP but is awkward to handle at times, and extremely so when you’re not using the detached Joy-Con control method. Bear with it, though, and there’s some clever platforming here to enjoy.

Connect the dots and you’ll find that One Line Coloring is an extremely simplistic puzzler. However, it’s hard to criticise a game that does exactly what it promises in a well-presented and pleasant package, that uses the Switch’s touch-screen functionality well.

Jotun is a game of two halves, unfortunately, the half requiring exploration is an exercise in monotony. The true core of the game is found with the excellent Jotun battles, where you are truly challenged, whilst rewarded for your efforts.

Quest of Dungeons is one of the most enjoyable roguelikes to hit the Switch. It is an easy to play dungeon crawler with an addictive turn-based gameplay that makes you want to go for one more run.

As part of a wave of sports sims to be hitting the Switch right now, it's once again a great time to be a sports fan who just plays Nintendo systems, like me. Just like FIFA, WWE and the like, NBA's absence has been sorely felt by Nintendo fans, so you ought to go out and add this stellar entry to your shelves.

The Bridge feels right on the Switch hardware, specifically in handheld mode. The atmospheric music, mind-boggling physics mechanics and abstract visual style all amalgamate together to produce one of the best Puzzle games currently available on the platform. With the games' improbable extra challenges and post-game levels, It's sure to keep you going back for quite some time. Providing you don't go insane first.

Aqua Kitty UDX is a very strong arcade shooter that displays sharp gameplay and addictive game modes. It's not particularly original, but if you're one for chasing high scores, you'll have a blast, particularly if you bring a friend along for the ride.

With a goofy humor that throws many references at the player, Broforce is a very entertaining run n' gun game, in which mayhem seems to be the main focus. Despite some minor tech drawbacks, it is a fun game to be played with friends.

Bulletstorm’s linear campaign feels like an amusement park where you go from point A to B with explosions happening all around you – and that’s extremely fun. It’s definitely worth revisiting, or visiting for the first time, on Nintendo Switch.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea DX culminates this trilogy into an experience I can finally recommend. If you’re looking for a good Atelier title, then look no further, but JRPG veterans will still probably find it too simple.

Jump King is a game that deliberately wants you to hate its guts. However, the players who are really good at it have made it an art form. This is one that really separates the men from the boys and the women from the girls.

From the very beginning, Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles impresses with its amazing visuals and soundtrack. It takes form as a relaxing open-world adventure, that features many elements of crafting and farming. While the later doesn’t perfectly fits with its openness nature, it is still an enjoyable experience nevertheless.

Overall, We Are OFK is a terrific interactive experience that isn’t for everyone. I would have liked a little more control over the gameplay, but it provided me with a few hours of fun and the soundtrack is incredible.

From the unergonomic and inconsistent controls to glitches and a lack of content, I feel massively let down by what SUPERBEAT offers. Unless you're already a hardcore fan of this game that got rid of their Vita or want a portable version, I don't see why a rhythm gamer would fork out for this game when something like Deemo already exists on the Switch, giving a quality experience with a lot more bang for your buck.

Darkwood is a gripping survival horror, but its presentation is too dark for comfort a lot of the time. Players should spend more time being scared than rummaging for resources.

Giana SIsters: Twisted Dreams is a fantastic platformer that will keep you on your toes, with multiple modes to unlock, hidden gems and artwork plus additional themed levels you've got the best package in the Owltimate Edition.

Ooblets is a fantastic farming simulation game that also combines cute-creature-collection and a deck-building/card battling system all in one handy-dandy game. It looks, sounds, and runs well on the Switch, and is entirely worth your money.

Implosion is a hack 'n' slash action game that looks - from a distance - much better than it actually is. Once you start playing however, you'll find a fairly average (if not downright mediocre) title with some great looking graphics. There's simply nothing unique or enticing about this one aside from its shiny appearance, so you're probably best to look elsewhere if you're looking for something that engages you in any meaningful way.

Kingdom: New Lands is a great experience. At a first glance, it looks like a kingdom management game with a very simple gameplay premise; carefully built with an astonishing beautiful pixel art style. Under its subtle design philosophy, though, lies a deep experience that is both frustrating and fascinating.

OPUS: The Day We Found Earth is a unique take on hidden object and storytelling within video games. It's as bittersweet as it is achingly short. Though not for everyone, it is a reminder that not all games are simply games.

Combining resource-management and strategy gameplay in a procedurally-generated universe, Out There: Ω The Alliance provides hours of entertainment. It’s not a hardcore experience, but a great choice if you’re looking for something new.

Beyond the initial learning curve, those patient enough to stick around with Dead in Vinland will be rewarded with a brilliantly balanced, challenging experience and will no doubt become emotionally invested in the characters and their tale of survival.

The VASARA Collection allows for a kind of time travel back to the golden age of the shoot-em-up genre. The quality of the package is inconsistent overall, but it still delivers a solid experience for the fans.

While a little bit more challenge in the coffee-making itself would have been beneficial, Coffee Talk presents a relaxing, stylish interactive story experience, serving up a slice of life in a fascinating world that’s similar to our own, yet wildly different.

One Step From Eden is a lot of fun with its unique combat and deck-building capabilities and would be perfect for anyone who enjoyed Slay the Spire. I just wish it was a little more forgiving and with a very slow unlock rate you have to put in a lot more than what you get back.

Apico has addictive elements and a gorgeous aesthetic, but it’s marred by slowdown, glitches, and a lack of real engagement with the bees. The right patch could make this an excellent, if limited life-sim.

Frogun draws you in with all the strength of the titular tongue-hooking grapple gun, combining 90’s low-poly nostalgic presentation with a fresh, novel gameplay premise. It’s a fairly short expedition, but well worth it when you factor in extra modes and collectibles.

2064: Read Only Memories INTEGRAL uses the formula and style of an old school adventure game to tell a narrative about a cyberpunk future. By doing that, it delivers a very interesting narrative, despite some minor flaws.

Fire Emblem Warriors has an incredible amount of depth and an awful lot of content to whittle away your spare time. It is let down slightly by its weak story and repetitive nature but there is still a lot of enjoyment to be had. Fans of the series will no doubt get a kick out seeing their beloved characters in a new way and, whilst it might be a little daunting for some, newcomers will be rewarded if they have the time and patience to soak up everything the game has to offer.

A charming little game that melds action and puzzle elements together quite nicely, Kamiko is a pleasure to play and experience. It doesn't last too long, and some of the enemies are rather easy to dispatch - but the different characters and their unique weapons make it a good game to replay, and the speedrun elements add to the fun. Overall it's a great way to spend a few hours, and that cheap launch price definitely doesn't hurt its value any.

With its unique take on the sim genre, Potion Permit offers some great moments thanks to its well-written characters. Unfortunately, some exaggerated grinding and nasty bugs get in the way of its best segments.

Cat Quest is a purr-leasing experience that pits cats against dragons in table-top action adventure. The combat provides engaging feedback whilst the cat-izens offer plenty of – mostly humorous – cat-based puns that both draw you into the world of Felingard.

There is a lot to like about HYPERCHARGE Unboxed and it combines many elements to offer the variety of a rich kid’s toy box. Its dependence on online multiplayer could be its downfall, but here’s to hoping the community get behind it.

AfterParty squanders its cool premise by forcing you through repetitive environments and selling its own drinking gameplay hook extremely short. Luckily, the story and character relationships will make this hellish road trip worth taking for some.

Yes, Your Grace impresses with a deep narrative exploring the true weight of the crown, colourful characters and satisfying decisions that are all brought to life with fantastic writing and beautiful presentation. It feels better to play on PC, but this is still a confident port for Switch players who want to experience this story on the go.

Paladins is a fun shooter, and encourages long-term play with its unlockables and level-up progressions. It loses to Fortnite in the addictiveness stakes, though, and isn't helped by a less-than-seamless matchmaking system.

Whilst the muddled story that immediately assumes you know the lore found in previous titles limits the draw of the campaign, Fate/EXTELLA LINK easily provides a surprisingly deep, content-rich adventure that is certain to become a time-sink should you let yourself go unchecked.

Stick It To The Man is a perfectly functional but forgettable experience due to the tedious elements of the game. The Tim Burton-esque visual style and black humour fails to catch up to its influencers, but offers just enough to be worthwhile to those who share these interests.

World Conqueror X offers a lot of content for its modest eShop price, and history fans will enjoy playing out a story which sticks as close to real-life as possible. It's not the most welcoming gameplay system, though, so novices may want to look elsewhere.

Lost Orbit offers a solid experience, but intermittent performance and some curious design decisions take some of the shine off this title. Still, with over fifty individual levels plus a time trial mode, there’s no shortage of content on display.

Professor Lupo is a good and well-designed puzzler, though some irritations hold it clear of a higher score. The puzzle-solving is satisfying, though some of the controls and the movement could have been done better.

Tokyo Dark -Remembrance- has a great story and a great look, but is text-heavy and lacking on the gameplay front. It feels like a game more suited for the TV than it is for a Switch controller.

Railway Empire tells a great tale of the Westward Expansion of the US’s railway system. You have to wrestle with some poorly explained and non-intuitive controls in order to get the most out of it, though – but once it’s up and running, this is one of the best train set video games you can get your hands on.

Turnip Boy is an attractive, accessible Link to the Past-like with some nice touches and an original premise, but its execution provides nothing new and it’s over very quickly. It’s Great for a short burst of handheld action, though.

Famicom Detective Club is a fantastic revitalised visual novel, let down only slightly by its lacking narrative options and gender selection. I would say that this is the best visual novel game I have had the pleasure of playing.

The audio and visuals get boring fast, but at its core Disc Jam has addictive, solid gameplay, and with competitive cross-platform play, it's definitely worth a crack if you like the idea and want a break from Rocket League.

Aragami is a fun, challenging stealth-action title with plenty to offer in terms of singleplayer and multiplayer. Although its performance on Nintendo Switch isn’t the greatest, the game has plenty of replay value, and has a stunning design and soundtrack.

Platforming fun for all the family, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is one of the Switch's better takes on the genre. Its storytelling feels like a Disney Pixar movie, so if your youngster has had a Switch for Christmas, it shouldn't take much to get them on board.

AngerForce: Reloaded is a challenging but rewarding shoot-em-up that you won’t be able to put down. It stands out as one of the best in its genre on Nintendo Switch.

What What Comes After lacks in length, it more than makes up for with engaging character dialogue and a willingness to discuss lofty themes in a balanced and emotional way. This is a visual novel worth flicking through.

Sniper Elite III: Ultimate Edition is a third-person stealth shooter that takes you through the Africa campaign during WWII. Featuring gore-laden sniper shot cutscenes and comprehensive gameplay, you can really see why this one is a cult classic.

Descenders offers almost endless fun thanks to fantastic arcade action and infinite procedurally generated levels to play with. Though the move to Switch does come with some graphical concessions, this is a fantastic way to play this sort of game.

Much like the enemy forces within it, Kingdom Rush: Frontiers marches down a well worn path, but the layered mechanics, bright dynamic level design and furiously fast gameplay keep the experience feeling fresh from start to finish.

Kunai comes together as one of the premium Metroidvania offerings on the Nintendo Switch. Some flawed design here and there and light story aspects aren’t enough to detract from the excellent gameplay offerings, top-notch pixel graphics, and clean aesthetic.

Mom Hid My Game! Is a weird and wonderful puzzle game that, whilst short in length, is a joy to play. Much like other touch based games on the platform, it is already accessible (and free) on mobile, but the Switch-centric polish makes it feel feature complete in your library. If the abstract art style draws you in, It's definitely worth a spin.

WILL: A Wonderful World is a solid addition to the Switch’s undersupplied library of visual novels. The core text moving mechanic is surprisingly engaging, but the consistent focus on some of humanities worst aspects gets a bit much after a while.

Black Bird's content is a bit on the slim side for its price, but like all quality shoot-em-ups, there's significant depth and replay value, meaning you'll be chasing that high score for hours.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 takes everything from the first game and improves upon it. Although I am torn between which location I prefer (Cruise Ship vs Island facility) I feel that this sequel has benefitted from being developed for consoles. The Revelations spinoff series has produced arguably two of the best Resident Evil games since Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube, and now we can finally experience them both together on a Nintendo console!

Road Redemption isn't pretty, but it is fun. You'll likely have some good fun with this Mad Max-a-like, especially with a friend in tow.

Amazing fun and inexplicably addicting, Wildfire is a worthy addition to your collection, especially if you like a good stealth game. However, the game is inexplicably laggy, to the point of annoyance. Fingers crossed that a patch is forthcoming.

With a rewarding gameplay loop and charming aesthetics, The Colonists is a simulation lover’s dream. There are perhaps too many systems and not enough guidance, but once it clicks you’ll have a blast watching your robot explorers build your own settlements for hours.

THOTH is a simple, sleek arcade shooter endurance test, stripped back and designed to test your mettle, precision and skill throughout its 64 levels. While a little frustrating at times, it’s one that fans of the genre will love.

Kirby Star Allies sees the pink resident of Planet Popstar debut on the Nintendo Switch in a game that is fun but somewhat lacking in challenge. If you are looking for an entertaining platformer that can be enjoyed by all the family then this game is the perfect option. The Nintendo Switch has been a haven for some of the greatest, taxing indie platformers recently - Kirby Star Allies provides a pleasant palette cleanser for both young and old to enjoy.

Farming Simulator is not something that you can recommend for everyone but there is something here that offers a really unique and enjoyable experience. If tycoon games of any variety tickle your fancy, I’d like to think you’ll find something in Farming Simulator that you’ll enjoy for a fair amount of time.

The Escapists 2 puts you in the shoes of a prisoner and tasks you with grabbing the dangling carrot of freedom. If you are a fan of the previous game or a fan of resource management and strategising then this game will be right up your alley. With the ability to play with others, this can end up being riotous fun. However, as a newcomer to the series, I found the mechanics to the game a little overwhelming and unwelcoming - which unfortunately detracted from my enjoyment of the game.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are good remakes of good games. The changes implemented are small yet effective, however, there’s a lingering sense throughout the experience that this all could have been so much more.

Elliot Quest looks like a lost side-scrolling game from the NES area. Very nostalgia-driven, it takes form as a hardcore side-scrolling action game, which may be too for some tastes. Those up to the challenge, though, will be rewarded with a surprisingly deep game.

World to the West is a lovely little adventure title that will immediately appeal to fans of Zelda games. Its lack of difficulty and repetitive gameplay can be a bit of a dampener on the experience, but this is definitely a game you'll want to check out.

Runner3 is a thoroughly enjoyable return to form for Commander Video and friends, both as an advancement of the long-running indie series and its debut on Switch. Some minor, frustrating setbacks hold it back from greatness, but the rhythmic platforming the series is known for is present and as dynamic as ever.

NBA 2K20 is impressive off the court – the soap opera elements of the story mode notwithstanding – but the on-the-court experience takes the fun out of basketball. Wait for a price drop.

Neko Navy – Daydream Edition adds some humour into the tired shooter genre by replacing spaceships with flying cats. It’s an unusual experience and doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it is a competent shooter with plenty of replay value.

Iris.Fall paints a foreboding challenge, guiding Iris and her shadow (with the aid of a cat) through a neat puzzle environment that ultimately may lack the incentive to revisit. But the journey is an intriguing one.

Super Magbot rewards perseverance. Initially the challenge is daunting, but when the rhythm clicks, you’ll be darting back and forth with a grin. The retro visuals are matched with a refreshingly unique control system to create a tough but addictive journey.

Bury Me, My Love lacks the necessary amount of player interaction that it needs for its message of compassion for the plight of Syrian refugees. The story wasn’t engaging enough to retain the attention once the game reached the halfway mark.

You can't fault Late Shift too much for what it is. I'd have liked to see a few more decisions on the table for a more hands-on role as the director, but given all the scenes that were filmed, it's impressive seeing all this bundled on a small screen you can take on the go.

Don’t let the bright kid-friendly colours or the cute Worms-sounding voices or the name fool you here. Putty Pals is challenging little platformer that uses its charm to draw you in and its gentle difficulty curve to keep you invested. It would be nice to have more variety throughout the levels, but it’s a fun, gentle puzzler with a steady challenge throughout.

You can tell the developers put a lot of time into HoPiKo, and for that they should be commended. But we’d have liked to feel more in charge of the controls.

Packed with fan service and with a huge amount to do, it’s difficult to dismiss Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. It can get repetitive, and the story does drag a little, but comic book and Marvel aficionados will enjoy it nonetheless.

The unique mixture of visual novel and puzzler found in Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy – Deluxe Edition is great to be played on short bursts. Tons of contents and charismatic characters are enough to make you ignore its annoying tidbits.

Overwatch makes a great addition to the Nintendo Switch library, but its weak performance and FPS issues do dampen the experience. While certainly not the prettiest or most technically competent version of the game, diving in for a few games alone or with friends has never been easier.

Old Man’s Journey takes form as a simple and short point and click adventure, which doesn’t offer much variety when it comes to gameplay or puzzle design. Still, if a superb art style and poignant narrative is enough to keep you interested, then it’s definitely a worth acquisition.

STRIKERS1945 is a challenging but fun experience. As you put more time and energy into the game you’ll start to see the results of your patience, slowly being able to clear more and more of its fiendish stages. The varying aircraft options allow players to find a play-style that suits them, and the option to alter the amount of lives and continues you have means that (whilst experienced arcade lovers will get the most out of this game), players who struggle can still see the game through to the end.

Gunbird 2 is no better or worse than the first title, it's just more of the same. If that's acceptable to you, you'll be getting a great little shmup that'll keep you entertained for a good few hours.

SNK Gals’ Fighters repays whatever effort you’re willing to put in. It’s a full-featured package with lots of well-polished fighting action and surprising depth to its diminutive setting. It’s just a crying shame about the lack of online.

All in all, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments is full of delightful puzzles, multiple endings, and amazing voice acting. However, agonizing load times really hold the game back from achieving its full potential.

A love letter to the PS1-era JRPGs of old, Earthlock: Festival of Magic is perfectly at home on the Nintendo Switch, delivering a by-the-numbers but solid turn-based battler with an engaging underdog story.

The Eternal Castle [Remastered] creates interactive art with this arcade-style platformer, but its old-school nature comes with both charm and flaws. While it is a one-of-a-kind experience with a co-op option, those seeking robust gameplay options should look elsewhere.

Giving life to Mexican legends, Mulaka tells the unique journey of the titled shaman in the form as an action-adventure game. Despite its simple structure and loose combat, it still manages to awe thanks to its pleasant art style and superb soundtrack.

Heart of the Forest is the perfect novel with which to settle down with your Nintendo Switch and cosy up on a folklore adventure. It may be steeply set in its tabletop origins, but all these elements work brilliantly in the experimental format.

Nintendo has delivered a sports game far too light on content with Battle League, missing an opportunity for a memorable series revival. Thankfully, the top-tier animations and chaotic gameplay make for a great time regardless.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants is more than just a Zelda clone. It offers a steady stream of puzzles that gradually increase in complexity providing you with a satisfying challenge. The comforting art style adds to the experience, especially to the characterisation of the different inhabitants that feature in the world. Then there is the endearing and thought-provoking story that helps to give the game its unique charm.

Garden Story is such a wholesome game and the more time you put into it, the more you will get out. Its adorable cast of characters and varied gameplay makes for a great ‘relaxation’ game, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Gross, weird, and consistently hilarious, Sludge Life is a satirical lens on very particular types of youth culture, but it’s also an experience I won’t forget anytime soon. Plus, it’s almost worth the price for the soundtrack alone.
