Anno 117: Pax Romana is a solid installment in the franchise. It tweaks gameplay just enough to give veterans something new to engage with, while also being accessible for anyone new. Mastering production chains and finding the right ways to boost income and production is satisfying. Albion, with its conflicting cultures, is the cooler biome, and it would have been interesting for the game to explore something like Syria or Gaul rather than Latium. Unfortunately, the title’s campaign, while posing some interesting challenges, features twists that make little sense. Voice acting cannot bring to life characters that exist only to advance the story. The game also features solid multiplayer, including cooperative options, via Ubisoft Connect. Anno 117: Pax Romana is thoroughly enjoyable when dealing with building, production chain, trade, and bonuses, and a disappointment when warfare is involved.- Softpedia

At first, I had no idea what to expect from Dreams of Another, as screenshots and trailers don’t make it justice. It seems like a generic, pixelated shooter, although the game is much more than that. It’s a game that focuses on creating a great, different experience, and it mostly sticks the landing in my opinion. Yes, it’s not flawless, nor does it try to be. These days, most people want to play titles like Call of Duty or Battlefield, just to blow off some steam. Dreams of Another manages to bring us an entirely different experience, where we question our meaning on this planet, and it becomes very meditative at times. I don’t think Dreams of Another is for everyone, it won’t fit the backlog of action-focused gamers. But if you like puzzles, philosophy and exploration, it’s certainly a title that you should play.- Softpedia

Decktamer is a rock-solid card-battler with a big and cool unique twist. The idea that taming rather than simply destroying monsters adds complexity to every decision. It also makes it more satisfying to pull off a complex plan, especially when players manage to recruit one of the more powerful creatures. The fact that there’s no node map focuses attention on the rewards and dangers of each battle. The game’s story is decent, but combat, with its many opportunities and what-if situations, is the big draw. Decktamer rewards patience and focus with great combat and interesting creature design.- Softpedia

Even if Orbyss is not a very long game, it’s definitely intense at times. There are puzzles that will make you scratch your head, until you realize the rather obvious answer. I had a great time playing and I think it’s one of the better ball-themed puzzle games. It looks great, it’s not imposing a massive difficulty right off the bat, and in the end, it removes a lot of the frustration that many games like this tend to have. It's rare to see a game that’s simple, yet well-designed and which knows exactly what it wants to be. Orbyss doesn’t bit more than it can chew, instead it offers you the puzzle experience you’re looking for, and it certainly puts your brain to work, maybe even more than you might expect. The entire world the dev created is beautiful, and a delight to go through. Yes, you will have some obstacles along the way, but the entire journey is amazing, and the puzzles you will solve will certainly require all your wits and attention.- Softpedia

Europa Universalis V is big, varied, and engrossing. Playing France is very different from starting as the Golden Horde, which poses a whole other set of challenges than guiding a Native American tribe or China through history. The game’s systems constantly challenge players to make big choices, even when they don’t engage with a dynamic events chain or ponder how to get out of a disaster. Simply managing internal politics and economics, from developing provinces to balancing the demands of the estates, is a game in itself. Diplomacy, trading, and warfare add layers of possibility and challenge. Europa Universalis V will give grand strategy fans hundreds of hours of fun, but might be difficult for newcomers to fully enjoy at first.- Softpedia

The premise of GUG is very interesting, at least for people that love creature collecting or turn based battles. The idea that you can write anything and create a creature is amazing, and they do have some impressive creatures. However, it all comes down to experimenting, figuring out what words give you the best results and immerse yourself in the experience more and more. GUG has its drawbacks for sure, it’s not perfect. But if you like turn based gameplay and the idea of creating creatures at your leisure, then it’s worth a shot. The lack of a proper tutorial does hurt the game, and the fact that you can spam certain keywords to basically cheat and create overpowered creatures is definitely something to keep in mind. I think despite that, GUG is worth checking out, as its core framework is great. I do hope that the devs can improve upon it if they make any sequels or similar games.- Softpedia

Luto is definitely a great spiritual successor to P.T. and a solid horror game, all in all. Not only does it cover some incredible topics, and it can get very scary, but at the same time, it’s beautifully made and without any performance issues, at least in my experience. I am a fan of the world design, the story they are showcasing, and how weird the game manages to become sometimes. The fact that they blatantly cover serious topics like anxiety, life, depression or grief is great, and it all seamlessly connects into the story. I will be honest, I did not expect the game to end this way, and for the story to be so gripping. Also, it’s great that the game is not very long, either, since you can see the conclusion in just half a dozen hours of gameplay, at most. Luto manages to nail the emotional roller-coaster that they embark us on, while also maintaining a sense of gravitas and a visual style that’s unlike anything you will find out there. It might be a debut title, sure, but it’s an excellent one, and I am looking forward to see what Broken Bird Games will come up with next time.- Softpedia

Football Manager 26 is a good step forward when it comes to engine and tactics, but it can frustrate many long-term fans. I like the dual approach to tactical choices, and I feel that the title reflects real-world trends. The match day experience is good, and the integration of women’s football adds a new dimension to the sim. Learning where everything is in the new interface, especially for the less-used options, will take time. Graphical glitches and some weirdness with on-pitch movement will probably be eliminated by patches. Football Manager 26 requires time and patience, but it will give football simulation fans hundreds of hours of fun, regardless of whether they are playing a superpower or an underdog.- Softpedia

I had a great time with Jurassic World Evolution 3, and this is certainly a big improvement over the previous game. It runs better, it looks stunning, and it also comes with a very beefy campaign. They also did a very good job when it comes to adding a ton of different dinosaur types, along with a multitude of environments. It gives you a lot more possibilities when it comes to creating the park of your dreams, and that’s incredibly rewarding when you roam through the park. It’s always a thrill to see dinos go out of the incubation center for the first time. Plus, there are tons of diverse species, from megalodons to t-rex, triceratops and so on. Plus, you have hybrid species in there as well. Jurassic World Evolution 3 streamlines the interface, adds baby dinos, and the scenario mode is quite impressive, despite not topping Chaos Theory from the previous title. But all in all, Jurassic World Evolution 3 is a lot of fun, and it’s one of the best theme park games out there.- Softpedia

Simon the Sorcerer Origins is a great experience if you want to enjoy a wonderful story. There are lots of gags in there, and they don’t shy away from adding some creative gameplay ideas. Sure, there are small frustrations, like stiff animations at times or bad inventory management, but that didn’t push me away from the game. If anything, it’s a solid game that certainly earns its spot as one of the best adventure games in the past few years.- Softpedia

Radiolight is an interesting game, certainly great for anyone who enjoys compact, creative and very engaging stories. If you liked Firewatch and other similar games, but you wanted a horror component, I think Radiolight fits right in. The radio mechanics are unique, and they actually matter in the game’s world. Not only that, but the fact that this game is made by a solo developer raises things up to the next level. It certainly feels like a game made by a small team, that’s for sure. Aside from the story and atmosphere, I am also a fan of how cohesive the dialog is, and the fact that you have plenty of stuff to explore. When we talk about solo-dev games, a lot of the time they need to cut corners due to a lack of resources. It doesn’t seem to be the case here. You do get to have someone to connect with as you play, the story is fun enough to keep you entertained and interested, but at the same time, there are spooky moments as well. It’s a nice change of pace from regular walking sims, while retaining the great atmosphere and gameplay that these titles are known for.- Softpedia

BALL x PIT is impressive in its ability to build an entire experience around one core idea. Players will launch balls at enemies during their runs and will then use the same mechanic to unlock new heroes and gather resources. Variety, starting with heroes and continuing with ball powers and character perks, means every run is different and there’s plenty of space to experiment. Wisely, the game asks players to beat levels with more than one hero to progress. The settlement development suffers from limited options, but the combat is exciting enough to compensate. BALL x PIT is fast and fun, a clear sign that there are still new and cool things to do with action survival.- Softpedia

s.p.l.i.t has a lot of things going for it. Not only does it bring a wonderful narrative intrigue, but you get to feel a sense of progression as you ramp up towards the end. You can unlock clues and tools gradually, which helps because you don’t feel overwhelmed with option. It’s not a game that you rush through, though. Sure, it’s short, but it requires your full attention and persistence if you want to reach the end. The game deals with important topics like self-harm, and it covers that in a rather direct manner. Despite all of that, it’s well worth checking out, especially for its great story.- Softpedia

Forsaker: DingDing & Blade takes two quite different genres and mashes them together. The fact that players can experience the entire narrative in normal visual novel fashion, without fighting any card battle, is a clear sign that the mix doesn’t fully work. Combat is easy to pick up, but its systems don’t aim for innovation, and repetition sets in quickly. But I think it’s worth trying a few runs just to see how the systems work. Then switch to the classic visual novel approach and give Forsaker: DingDing & Blade time to tell a good story about corruption, power, rivalry, and what it means to be human.- Softpedia

Back to the Dawn is a deceptively deep game. It draws you in with its quirky animal characters and holds you tight with its complex mechanics, branching narratives, and brutal sense of fairness. There’s no hand-holding here, just a dense sandbox where your choices, relationships, and instincts shape the story. It's not always easy, and sometimes the game feels downright punishing. But that’s the point. You’ll fail. You’ll restart. And you’ll come back smarter, more prepared, and even more determined to crack the system or break free from it. For fans of RPGs, survival sims, and story-rich adventures, this is one prison worth checking into. Just don’t expect it to be a walk in the yard.- Softpedia

Farthest Frontier manages the hard task of being both accessible and deep, especially when players engage with its economic side. Players can jump in, tell their villagers to cut down some trees, build a few houses, and get engrossed as they try to keep villagers alive and thriving. The crop rotation system is so good that other titles in the genre should steal it. The user interface can be a little overwhelming, while the lack of any historical context might make it hard for players to keep their motivation. Farthest Frontier doesn’t try to remake the foundation of its genre (it still works on a grid), but it is focused, detailed, and well-balanced.- Softpedia

Creating a boss rush game can go different ways, but fortunately for UNYIELDER, it’s a very engaging and fun game with a great core loop. The fact that you focus on getting loot, improving your character, while also learning the boss’s attacks, it all feels very satisfying. And honestly, the quiet times in between boss battles are quite productive, too, since you can switch weapons, unlock/equip perks and so on. UNYIELDER removes all the clutter that comes from a lot of roguelike games. Instead, it pits you against powerful bosses, and it’s a delight to play. The game ran great during our review, and the loot we acquired after battling bosses felt rewarding and satisfying. It’s a roguelike game, so naturally you can get bored after you saw all the content. But then again, the Endless mode offers an excellent way to continue your session, with random bosses. It’s a cool boss rush experience, and it never overstays its welcome.- Softpedia

I’ve always liked games like Majesty, and Lessaria is meant to be the successor for those games. And honestly, I think it’s an excellent game in that regard. Not only does it manage to take the core fantasy kingdom simulation gameplay, but it adds its own twists, great buildings and a wonderful hero system. I am a huge fan of the combat system, which is refreshing, especially considering the fact that you can also join heroes in combat. Or you can just be passive and guide them, without being involved in combat yourself. The game’s story is very interesting, I felt involved in the overarching quest, and the game continued to impress with each mission. However, the primary focus is on the gameplay, and you can see that. It’s very polished, beginner-friendly, without being boring. And considering the genre, doing this is certainly a tall order. But Lessaria manages to succeed here, and they do that with flying colors. It’s definitely a must-play for anyone that likes strategy games, but honestly, it’s a good pickup for any cozy gamer that doesn’t mind a bit of combat as well.- Softpedia

Sworn is clearly made as an alternative to Hades and other similar roguelike games. The game has a lot of heart, and everything from the overall progression to the combat and story is well-made. The addition of coop is the icing on the cake. I don’t think that everything lands perfectly and there are definitely things to improve, but for someone who loves loop-based gameplay that’s typical to roguelikes, this title is worth picking up. Granted, it does have its issues, with the story being rather simple and short, and the combat being slower at times. But if you get past that, you will notice that the game is greatly-made, it has way more content than expected, and the gameplay itself is fun. The ability combinations, great visual style and game mechanics make it a worthwhile time investment. Plus, the fact that you can test your skills with some really high difficulty levels and bosses make it very enticing to try and play one more run.- Softpedia

I like Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi’s unique world and a great focus on platforming, puzzle-solving and incredible story. Sure, it’s more of a linear experience and it doesn’t have a ton of exploration. But the story is very emotional, its temple and shrine puzzles encourage you to experiment, and the 2 characters they chose complement each other quite nicely. On top of that, the villain is very memorable, both when it comes to the dialog, but also the intense voice acting. That being said, you can’t continue the game after you beat the final boss, and combat doesn’t always flow very well. However, it’s an overly interesting experience, and it continued to impress me with its clever puzzles and story, right up until the end. They did an excellent job creating this world, the voice acting is nice, and I really hope they will be creating a new entry in this series in the future. But even if this is all, it’s a wonderful story, and one that’s not too long, either.- Softpedia

The game isn’t perfect, it definitely has its shortcomings. Forcing a character loadout onto you at times does make the game harder, and moving around is not as fast as some people might like. The voice acting is also an acquired taste, I enjoyed it, but I can see some players not enjoying it. But in the end, as a complete package, I think that Skygard Arena is well-worth checking out. The gameplay is extremely fun, I had no crashes, nor any disconnections while playing online, either. It’s a fun romp in the tactics genre, while also being beginner friendly.- Softpedia

Concierge is a unique video game with some great ideas. The atmosphere is impressive, especially early on, when players do not know much about their character or the hotel. The mini-games aren’t very deep, and some don’t fully deliver, but they are surprising. The game rewards patience and a willingness to use the camcorder to discover as many mysteries as possible. The hint system helps eliminate frustration, although the need for gold coins doesn’t make it as easy to use as it should. The story might also be a little too convoluted for some players. Concierge shows what a small team can create when they trust their ideas, and I look forward to playing KODINO’s next game.- Softpedia

Goosebumps: Terror in Little Creek is not a long game, it will take you anywhere from 3-5 hours or so, depending on how you play. It’s fun to play, it encourages puzzle solving and exploration. It will require you to focus on stealth as you tackle some of the enemies, and those parts of the game can be quite engaging and fun. Despite being short, I think it manages to tell its story very well, without boring you too much. Yes, the visuals could be better, but as a package, I think Goosebumps: Terror in Little Creek is well worth a shot. The story is great, it’s engaging, and it’s not too long for its own good. The game doesn’t take itself too seriously, it has funny moments, but also some interesting horror content as well. It’s still suitable for kids, while delivering a story that adults will like, too. Absolum’s moment-to-moment action is very good, accessible for newcomers, and with plenty of complexity to appeal to side-scrolling combat fans. The heroes play very differently, and their unlockable powers introduce even more variety. They all look great in action, with fluid and powerful moves, and I love the design of both normal enemies and bosses. The fantasy story is decent but not on par with the combat mechanics, and the rogue-like elements are not as inventive as they could be. Strange Antiquities was a lot of fun for me, and I think it’s a great sequel to Strange Horticulture. The occult and spooky aspect fits the game very well, the item and store design are excellent, and the story is amazing, especially since you get many endings. Even if some of the puzzles feel challenging at times, you can go with trial and error to figure out the right solution. Strange Antiquities is one of those interesting puzzle games that will keep you hooked from beginning and up until the end. It’s fun to play, the mysteries are great to solve, and the music score is also fitting for this eerie experience. My favorite part: those Eureka moments where you get to solve complex puzzles. I did not expect to like Tiny Bookshop as much as I did. It’s an excellent game for book lovers, but also for people who want to unwind, relax and play a simple management game. The fact that Tiny Bookshop doesn’t have very high stakes means you can easily play it as you do other activities. Yet at the same time, it’s very addictive, and it only gets better and better as you play. I still play Tiny Bookshop every week and will continue to do so for a while. Ale Abbey - Monastery Brewery Tycoon works best as a laid-back way to spend a few hours, thinking of potential ingredient combinations while big fermenters deal with customer orders. The game is also an excellent way to learn about types of beer, their evolution, and the impressively weird combinations that a committed brewer could create. The game’s presentation, especially the pixel art, makes it easy to spend time researching, building new rooms, and dealing with the needs of the workers. Extra content for the events and missions would have helped with immersion. Ale Abbey sometimes feels repetitive, but it manages to add new brews at a solid enough pace to keep the work interesting.- Softpedia

As a complete package, I think that Occlude is a pretty interesting game. It’s definitely a variation of Solitaire, but it has its own ideas, and the occult/ritual-like focus makes it stand out quite a bit. Those elements also enhance the gameplay quite a lot, while also offering you plenty of room to experiment and try out new stuff. On top of that, you have the great narrative and different rituals that help add plenty of depth to the gameplay itself. Yes, it might not be the most complex card game out there, but it certainly differentiates itself from deck builders and all the other similar titles in this niche. Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition is a solid package that feels designed to bring a classic experience to a new generation of gamers. The three titles and their unique combat system can provide tens of hours of tactical fun as players move through the world, find the best combination of powers and equipment, and engage with both normal enemies and bosses. Repeatedly failing to make progress will become frustrating, so lower the difficulty after the first loss. The game also fails to impress when it comes to writing or graphics. Agatha Christie - Death on the Nile is a good addition to the modern Hercule Poirot canon and will appeal to anyone who likes the author’s approach to detective stories and the core mechanics of the adventure game. Royce's addition and other narrative elements mostly work to create a sense of escalation toward a grand finale. Unfortunately, the game struggles to deliver an engaging presentation, although the soundtrack is great. For me, Firefighting Simulator: Ignite was a joy to play, mainly because the game is very fun, engaging and all missions feel different and challenging in their own right. The visuals are stunning, the game world is beautifully-made and scenarios feel like something taken out of real-life situations. You receive plenty of guidance and training, but at the same time, you also need to focus on thinking quickly and finding the right solution. If you play Firefighting Simulator: Ignite, you’ll have a lot more respect for firefighters and the amazing work they do, but also the dangers they face. When I started playing MakeRoom, I had no idea what to expect from it. The sandbox nature of the game might seem difficult to deal with at first. LEGO Voyagers is one of those perfect games that you can play with a friend when you’re done dealing with shooters, MMOs or more serious titles. It has the perfect visual style that engulfs you into the world, but also plenty of brain teasers and puzzles. Even if some of them can be frustrating at first, the solution is never too difficult. That allows you to continually play, explore the game and try out new things. That’s why it comes as highly recommended, because it’s a fun game with creative gameplay and innovative features. While LEGO Voyagers is a game geared towards children, I think everyone should try it out, be it with a friend, their significant other or a colleague. HOTEL BARCELONA is good, with a unique take on combat and some nice narrative touches. Phantoms initially seem like a diversion, but they give players a ton of ways of influencing every level and, with some preparation, make it trivial to take down the powerful bosses. Fans of horror will also have fun exploring the hotel and the story. There’s no doubt that Dying Light: The Beast is best game in the series, but that doesn’t make it the perfect zombie game. Taking the signature elements from both previous games, enhancing and wrapping them up in a much nicer package was the best decision Techland could take. The Beast Mode is a new gameplay mechanic that perfectly blends into the Dying Light formula, so that’s another positive change the series has gained with Dying Light: The Beast. The story is strong and there are no longer average or boring side-quests. Also, Kyle Crane is a more believable character than Aidan Caldwell. He perfectly fits the gritty tone of the game, and it elevates Dying Light: The Beast to the best entry in the series.- Softpedia

I’ve had a lot of fun exploring Silent Hill F’s stunning town and story, and I am glad to say that this is by far my favorite Silent Hill game to date. After playing the Silent Hill 2 remake, I thought that would be the epitome of the series, but this new one is even better. It retains the aura and style of the series, while adding more combat to it, and exploring an entirely new location. It’s not a very long game, but it’s intense and visceral at times, not to mention profound and extremely immersive.- Softpedia

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion features a very intricate story, with multiple twists and some memorable characters. I like the fact they don’t shy away from offering many cutscenes, in fact most bosses will have a custscene where they explain their reasoning. It’s also nice to see that they bring in lots of side quests to bring you more lore and introduce different characters. What’s great about Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is that it helps the franchise evolve by introducing a large open world, great customization features and faster-paced combat. The world they made is beautiful, but also scary to live in, and you will hold on for dear life through every combat encounter. Then again, that’s what makes a game like this fun, you always need to be prepared, experiment with weapons/armor and find the best ones to give you an edge in combat.- Softpedia

As always, NBA games try to offer a plethora of options to people, and everyone will find their favorite. For NBA 2K26, they built upon the feedback received from players, and the movement, along with gameplay, all feels a lot more natural and realistic. That’s key, because you have so many modes, you do want to enjoy every match and improve, which now has become a whole lot easier. I like the fact that they continue to add new game modes and clearly, some things like the MyGM and MyCareer are immediate standouts. I’ve always enjoyed NBA 2K games and I think 2K26 has become my favorite. Not only does it have everything I want from a basketball game, tons of modes and realism, but its online features are robust, and the game also didn’t crash on me even once. Yes, there are microtransactions in there that ruin the fun a little, but as a complete package, I think NBA 2K26 is well-worth trying, and you’ll find yourself playing for hours without stopping.- Softpedia

Gloomy Eyes isn’t very complex in terms of puzzle design or too innovative in its storytelling. But the mechanics and the universe boost each other, while the two main characters are cute enough to keep players engaged. The game is relaxing and fun, even if the story doesn’t offer too many surprises. The Tim Burton-derived presentation enhances gameplay at first but becomes tiring after a while. Gloomy Eyes doesn’t fully deliver on its potential but offers a solid set of puzzles built around a charming pair of heroes.- Softpedia

All in all, I think the game is a great choice for those who love survival-horror games, although you should be prepared to die and repeat levels countless times. Bullet Noir is a fast, unforgiving, and gore-filled top-down shooter. Its core mechanics are designed to appeal to players who want to master both characters and levels, pushing their performance during every run to gain more points and place higher on the provided leaderboards. The appeal will be enhanced for fans of Hotline Miami and Sin City. Unfortunately, the game’s characters aren’t very different in their approach to combat, and the story doesn’t do anything special. The top-down view might also be an issue for some action fans. Bullet Noir will create a very fun time for competitive gamers who want to really master a system.- Softpedia

Wildwood Down is a fun adventure game with a retro look that’s designed to appeal to players who like the core ideas of the genre and aren’t afraid to try weird ideas out to solve puzzles. Protagonist Daniel‘s Down syndrome is not at the core of the story, but it does make the entire experience unique. The solid hint system makes it easy to play through and experience the narrative, even for players who don’t have a ton of patience. I struggled with the graphics at first, but they become more tolerable when night falls over the boardwalk. And players do have to accept that logic doesn’t always work when looking for solutions. Wildwood Down doesn’t try to reinvent the adventure game template but delivers fun moments, solid puzzles, and clear ways to make progress for fans of this genre and newcomers.- Softpedia

Fresh Tracks is a great game with very good music designed to appeal to those who already know they love the rhythm genre. On the higher difficulties, it will challenge anyone to get past a level’s challenges but also makes accommodations for those who might not be as in sync with the rhythm. The rogue elements might help with the game’s longevity but feel somewhat like an afterthought. Play on the lowest difficulty level if the rhythm challenges seem too hard, and try to unlock as many of the songs as possible. Fresh Tracks works best played in sessions of around two runs, when players hit the right balance between enjoying the music and mastering the rhythm mechanics.- Softpedia

Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is fast and mostly good fun, especially for anyone who’s looking for a new survival action experience that understands the genre’s core appeal. The heroes play very differently, and the game features a ton of godly powers to choose from, leading to many builds, some of them impressively overpowered. The Norse theme fits the mechanics well, although the enemy designs, other than the bosses, are relatively uninspired. Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel doesn’t try to be revolutionary in any way, but its mix of atmosphere and gameplay is solid, and it’s very easy to spend hours testing build ideas and learning boss patterns.- Softpedia

Plan B: Terraform offers an automation and terraforming experience that doesn’t overwhelm. The complexity level increases gradually as more products are needed by the cities and the quest to create an atmosphere and oceans. The mechanics allow players to create quick and dirty solutions while also making it simple to go back and rebuild entire systems in the name of optimization. Unfortunately, the core design will struggle to draw in players who don’t love the automation and supply chain genre. Extra lore elements, or maybe a chance to interact with citizens in the cities, could have helped. For a game that tells a fictional story, Hell is Us feels unusually familiar. My only comfort throughout the game was the fact that I managed to save a few NPCs from a horrible death, everything else was incredibly bleak. This is a mature game that treats serious topics like war, hate, violence, torture, politics extremely well. Aside from the fact that you’re facing strange creatures, little else is fictional about this game, and that’s very scary. That said, Hell is Us was one of my most anticipated games of the year, and after finishing it three times, I strongly believe it was well worth the wait. The Royal Writ takes a few familiar ideas and puts a unique spin on them. Exploiting characters, the lanes, movement, keywords, and more to hit high damage numbers is fun, and the game reveals extra layers of complexity as the runs get longer and the challenge level increases. Space Adventure Cobra - The Awakening takes a mostly forgotten fictional universe and builds a good game around it. The narrative is directly drawn from the anime based on the manga, while the mechanics competently use the action platformer template. The Psychogun’s guided attack is a unique mechanic that makes combat, especially boss engagements, more exciting. Play cooperatively, if possible, and don’t skip the cutscenes, even if they seem cheesy. The protagonist’s relatively imprecise movement could lead some players to quit playing, but Space Adventure Cobra - The Awakening compensates with retro charm and a cool hand cannon that can stop time.- Softpedia

Herdling is a great experience for any players who enjoyed the two Far titles created by Okomotive. When the Calicorns stampede across a lush meadow, plowing through flowers, with the mountains close, as the music enhances immersion, the game manages to create some unique and emotional moments. Guiding the herd around through puzzles is also pretty fun. But I never cared about the Calicorns, even as I made sure that they were healthy, and the title’s limited narrative means it’s hard to engage with its mechanics. Yield! Fall of Rome takes familiar gameplay ideas and a well-known historical setting and distills them down into an approachable strategy experience. The entire design emphasizes quick play, with scenarios that can be completed in one sitting. The presentation doesn’t impress, but it also doesn’t hinder gameplay. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is a love letter to the platform games of the 90s, and at the same time, it also feels fresh. I don’t know how they did it, but this game is a masterpiece of the genre, and it stays true to the Ninja Gaiden universe. The level design is spectacular, and they did an amazing job at maintaining a high level of detail throughout the entire experience. It’s also nice to see that the two characters in the game seamlessly complement each other, and you need each character’s expertise/skills in order to move onward in the game. Also, boss battles are very cool, they manage to surpass expectations by adding sophisticated gameplay ideas, while still keeping everything engaging and very interesting. Whether you are a fan of Ninja Gaiden, platform games or want to speedrun a game, I think Ragebound delivers everything you’re looking for and much more. Grand Emprise 2: Portals Apart is an ambitious game, but one that clearly tried to bit off more than it can chew. It’s a game that wants you to survive through dangerous, yet engaging worlds, some of which have more polish than the others. It’s definitely a game that oozes creativity, but the lack of resources is clear here. Yet if you get past that, I think Grand Emprise 2: Portals Apart is a pretty interesting experience, especially considering it costs around $10. The Biggleboss Incident might not have the marketing muscle of major studios or the ambition of sprawling indie epics, but what it offers is something many games forget: heart. Mafia: The Old Country tells a traditional mob story without pushing the formula further, and that’s perfectly fine. Split into chapters, the tale of the fictional Torrisi crime family is both bleak and heartening. Even though the story lacks any plot twists, it’s serviceable enough to keep the player interested from start to finish. Although it’s been stripped of important gameplay features like character progression system, side quests and other activities, Mafia: The Old Country remains an enjoyable ride for both newcomers and veterans of the series. Fretless - The Wrath of Riffson is one of those games that might seem weird to some, but as soon as you start playing, it will get you hooked. There are lots of great things to be had in Primal Planet. The time period they base the game on is something we rarely explore in games. On top of that, the pixelated world design is stunning, and I think the world itself looks incredible. The combat is also very good, although sometimes it does enter soulslike territory. And yes, there’s the map design that could get some improvements here and there. Did that deter me from playing? Not at all, I liked the fact that you can start crafting stuff, exploring the map and finding items/resources is always cool, and the animations/small cutscenes they have truly add a lot of character and personality to the game. Yes, there will be some frustration here and there, but in the end, the game is extremely fun, although it can take a bit to get used to some of its elements.- Softpedia

I enjoyed my time with Through the Nightmares, even if it came with lots of level restarts and challenges. The game’s world is charming, visually impressive, and they do an excellent job at introducing new ideas and mechanics very often. I will say some of the levels, especially in the beginning, tend to feel very similar. But that thing slowly wears off as you enter the latter part of the first world, and as you delve into the other 2 worlds. If you’re new to platformers, maybe Through the Nightmares is not for you. I found this game is better for those grizzled veterans that are always on the lookout for a challenge. The overarching story is great, the gameplay is immersive, albeit frustrating at times. Without a Dawn is all about offering us a chilling, psychological title in the form of a visual novel. I think it works extremely well, it manages to showcase the depth of human philosophy, while also showing us how easy it is for people to manipulate their own mind. At the same time, Without a Dawn shows us how troublesome depression and anxiety can be, if we just live with them and don’t tackle the core issues behind them. For me, Without a Dawn was a great game, despite being on the short side. Its visuals are incredible, I rarely see ASCII art used in games, let alone at this level. They have great atmospheric music, eerie visuals and the fact you get horror elements without cheap jump scares is a major plus for me. It’s an excellent, albeit short game, but it delves deeply into the human psyche, and you truly feel for the character and her journey. It even makes you question your sanity at times, and that’s definitely the sign of a good game.- Softpedia

Bygone Dreams is an interesting project from Bygone Dreams and a very exciting romp in the fantasy action-adventure genre. The RPG elements feel undercooked at times, and the game could use a map, along with other quality of life features. But don’t let that push you away. The combat is great, and the music, as well as boss fights are standouts, at least for me. Sure, it feels like a budget game at first, but as you progress, you’ll find yourself enjoying the gameplay mechanics, visual style and bosses. I always found city builders to be a very relaxing game genre, and ISLANDERS: New Shores is no exception. Granted, you can’t build the city of your dreams, instead you try to create small establishments on lost/forgotten islands. But it’s a lot of fun, and I am sure tons of people will strive to get the highest scores they can. And they should, because the game is engaging, but it can also be something you play on the side, as you wait in queue for your MMO’s dungeon crawls. I think ISLANDERS: New Shores’s main appeal is that it adds a whole lot of new stuff when compared to its predecessor. And it shows, the gameplay has evolved, the boons system is creative and enjoyable, and the sandbox system is exceptional for creatives that want no barriers. It’s the type of game you can enter, play for a few minutes or an hour and never get bored. Achilles: Survivor adopts a relatively safe approach, adopting most elements of the survival action genre with no tweaks and adding one big new concept. The idea of gathering stone to set up turrets is interesting and creates some cool tactical possibilities. Depending on their chosen hero, players can create a variety of builds and then deploy turrets to keep the monster hordes at bay. But this new idea isn’t enough to make the rest of the mechanics less repetitive. It doesn’t help that the fictional universe doesn’t do anything interesting with its Greek inspiration. I found Clutchtime to be an interesting, fun deckbuilder that successfully implements the idea of having a sports-themed card game. Yes, it does take a little bit to figure out how to use some of the cards and how to play, but once you get the ball rolling, this title is a lot of fun. I do see the game becoming very repetitive in the long run, since it only has 2 main game modes. But if you like the game loop, I am sure you will get a lot of fun out of it. Ultimately, Gex Trilogy feels like a product designed more to honor the past than to ignite a new future for the franchise. It’s a loving archival effort that will undoubtedly please those who grew up with the sarcastic lizard, but it’s unlikely to convert new fans unfamiliar with his antics. With platforming having evolved significantly since Gex’s heyday, these titles feel more like relics — albeit entertaining ones — than evergreen classics. Gex Trilogy isn’t a reinvention; it’s a digital museum exhibit. Polished just enough to be playable by today’s standards, it offers a fun — if dated — experience for retro enthusiasts and collectors. But in those moments when you’re stomping down a fluorescent-lit corridor, Auto 9 roaring, as RoboCop delivers a dry one-liner before blasting a goon’s head clean off—it’s pure, unfiltered nostalgia. Crown Gambit is one of the rare video games that effectively combines a gripping story and engaging gameplay. The premise is a little familiar but the title, while borrowing from popular culture, focuses on three very likable characters and spins plenty of narrative threads smartly. Choices matter and replaying to test different paths is viable. The card-focused battles are fast and varied. The many boss engagements and the artifact fights ask players to carefully consider each hero’s abilities and when to dip into artifact use. I had an excellent time playing Hell Clock, especially as a fan of Diablo, Titan Quest and other ARPGs. The fact that it also has a Hades-like gameplay makes it even more interesting, and the Brazilian-focused story and characters certainly help the game stand out. It’s definitely a one-of-a-kind roguelike, and one where you want to continue progressing through the story as much as possible. Aside from that, the gameplay is intense, and the level-tiered system where you have a boss every 3 major levels is incredibly addicting. Quantum Witch is a short experience that has very good narrative beats. Ren’s adventure starts off a little slow, with many visits to a hint skeleton and some cult interactions. But once she goes magical and visits new worlds, the characters become funnier and the questions bigger, exploring big themes in interesting ways. Unfortunately, the actual gameplay is pretty limited, with only a few situations where the plane-shifting power is engaging to use. The presentation is good but requires some love of the 16-bit look. If you’re hoping for a breezy summer gaming experience, look elsewhere. This is a dense, challenging, and often unforgiving title that demands focus and patience. It’s not casual, it’s not streamlined, and it certainly doesn’t care whether you’re having a good time—at least not in the conventional sense. Ultimately, System Shock 2 remains what it has always been: a brilliant, brutal relic from an era when games weren’t afraid to be obtuse, ambitious, and just a little bit cruel. Rise of Industry 2 is a good industrial builder that emphasizes the role of personal relationships and strong management in the long-term success of corporations. Players will be challenged to find the best layout for their mining and manufacturing complexes. Mastering one type of industry doesn’t guarantee success when an investor requires expansion into another. The game’s narrative moments are decently written but sometimes seem separated from the circumstances, which limit immersion. The game’s look fits well with the 80s theme. Rise of Industry 2 creates fun challenges for city building and resource chain creation veterans, but it will not be easy to get into for newcomers.- Softpedia

The Precinct might fashion itself as an homage to the classics of the cop movie genre but seems to struggle to calibrate its mix of action, tedium, and humor. There’s a variety of police work to tackle, with a focus on direct interaction with citizens, but all of it becomes repetitive after a few shifts, and the special big events aren’t enough to compensate. The car chases, ludicrous as they might be in terms of collateral damage, are the most engaging part of the experience. Issuing parking tickets became boring in under five minutes. The Precinct has decent ideas and some fun moments but it will only appeal to those who already like open-world top-down action with a hint of chaos.- Softpedia

Trash Goblin is a very interesting game, I am not exactly into shopkeeping games, but it piqued my interest early on. I like the game’s cartoony style, the character design, along with the gameplay loop they created here. On top of that, uncovering gifts and trying to repair stuff feels like Christmas morning over and over. Is Trash Goblin a game for everyone? Realistically, we all like a cozy, fun game that helps us unwind and relax. I feel that Trash Goblin does that very well, and it feels very satisfying to unearth and clean items in this game. Yes, it can get repetitive, and that’s the pet-peeve for this game. Yet thanks to randomly generated items and customers, you can get dozens of hours of fun from the game and even uncover new stuff often.- Softpedia

Is Architect Life a game that can be used by real-life architects? Obviously, many aspects pertaining to an architect’s job are simplified, but the framework is there, and you can build some amazing places. I like the interface and building toolkit, not to mention the visuals are delightful and fit the game’s vibe and atmosphere. I think comparing this to “The Sims” is fair, but here you just focus on the building aspect, and Architect Life excels at it. Unlike games such as House Flipper or The Sims, here you don’t focus on buying/flipping houses or simulating people’s lives inside a home. Instead, Architect Life gives us some insight into how architects work, while allowing home designers to bring their craziest home ideas to life. The building tools are awesome, and the art style is stunning, not to mention you can play the career mode to challenge yourself or just go full-on creative mode for some relaxing builds.- Softpedia

Dustwind: Resistance is a mechanically solid video game that understands everything that made classics in its genre engaging. Battles are tough, even on normal, and the developers really want players to both specialize their characters and find the right combination of weapons and tactics to quickly deal with different threats. The difficulty spikes that pop up regularly, especially in defensive missions, represent the title's biggest issue. The game also struggles to deliver an engaging narrative, and the protagonists sometimes feel more like a collection of abilities and weapons than humans dealing with incredibly traumatic events. Dustwind: Resistance will be a fun tactical experience for anyone who likes the core concepts but there are moments when playing it can be frustrating.- Softpedia

I enjoyed my time with Star Overdrive, I think this is the best hoverboarding experience I have found in a game until now. The controls are very slick, and being able to customize the hoverboard is a lot of fun. Combat is ok, not too complex, but enough to keep you interested as you focus on finishing the game. When it comes to the story, I liked it, but I know it won’t be for everyone. However, chances are that if you play this game, you’re most likely doing it for riding a hoverboard and killing enemies. I am sure that for a lot of players, hoverboarding will take center stage, with the story being just an excuse to progress and upgrade your hoverboard. Star Overdrive has its shortcomings, but as a complete package, it’s a nice adventure for 10-12 hours, and a great excuse to peruse a beautifully designed alien world with a hoverboard.- Softpedia

The Alters brings you an amazing story, interesting survival mechanics, and stunning visuals. 11-Bit Studios did a masterful job creating this game, since it truly is a breath of fresh air. Anyone that enjoys sci-fi media will have a blast exploring this world they created, making choices and dealing with the consequences of their own actions. I think the main appeal for the game stems from creating alters, learning their stories and making you think about what choices you would change in their lives. There are some enemies you face on the planet, but combat is light and certainly not the game’s forte. Instead, The Alters shines when it comes to its world, great characters and the pressure that comes from pleasing your team and moving onto this planet, which can easily become your resting place.- Softpedia

Broken Arrow is the game for anyone who wants good RTS mechanics focused on modern-day military hardware. Combat, while centered around the classic concept of point control, is fast and fun, with plenty of tactical options. Players get a lot of choices when building their unique force for multiplayer or skirmishes against the computer. The campaign has some great missions with unique setups but also suffers because of its cast of characters and inability to save during a battle. Broken Arrow is a great experience for players who want to engage in multiplayer with a group of friends and aren’t too annoyed at having some limitations when other game modes are involved.- Softpedia

FBC: Firebreak is one of those games that can be hard to describe, yet once you get into it, this game will become very addictive. And it’s easy to see why. Control’s world is amazing, mysterious, and a pleasure to explore. The multiplayer experience is quite impressive here, and they do an amazing job at making the levels feel interesting and a delight to go through. Of course, that doesn’t make FBC: Firebreak perfect. The core gameplay loop, while fun, gets very repetitive due to the lack of randomized elements, and few levels available at launch. Right now, having only 5 levels is an issue, as you have to repeat them over and over, albeit with modifiers and various difficulty levels. I think it’s well worth playing for any team-focused FPS lovers, but keep in mind this is just a foundation. I am sure that Remedy will continue adding more levels and fun stuff for us to unlock and customize our characters with. Yet that will arrive in due time.- Softpedia

I enjoyed TRON: Catalyst a lot, as it feels like a great successor to older titles like TRON: Evolution, while still being able to stand on its own. The story is clever, it has many twists and turns, and the gameplay is simplistic, accessible, with some challenges sprinkled here and there for good measure. Plus, there’s plenty of stuff for completionists to find, if you can get past the lightcycle controls and other issues. TRON: Catalyst manages to deliver on its promise, while offering an enthralling, visually striking and story-focused adventure through the Grid.- Softpedia

Void Sails felt like a very promising game, and to some extent it does manage to deliver on that promise. The ship design is great, and the story, albeit not very long, was engaging and fun for me. It’s nice to see that there are indie devs that continue to take chances and a shot in the dark. There will always be challenges, and Void Sails is a prime example, it certainly has its issues. For me, the changes in combat difficulty killed the momentum a lot of the time. And unfortunately, you can’t lower/raise the difficulty, so you have to make due with their approach, which for me didn’t work out very well. Also, there is an illusion of choice, however a lot of the choices you have will provide the same/very similar results. Even with all of that, I think Void Sails is worth playing, but keep in mind all the pros and cons before you get into it.- Softpedia

Monster Train 2 is a successful follow-up to a very good game. The aim is not to take risks and try to remake the card-focused combat experience but to find ways to make it more engrossing for fans. The variety, which starts with clans and hero upgrade paths and extends to cards, upgrades, and artifacts, will keep players coming back to craft new strategies and fashion their unique way of taking the Titans down. The limited narrative and the uneven presentation might make it hard for newcomers to enjoy the combat. Even genre veterans will be surprised by some of the milestones they have to hit to unlock all the content. Still, Monster Train 2 creates engaging and fun runs and will reward players who are willing to invest their time and attention.- Softpedia

Once I started playing Dragon is Dead, I got hooked. The game has a very satisfying gameplay loop, and it comes with an extraordinary visual style. In addition, they added a ton of loot, and you can easily swap between weapons at your own pace. The ability system is not very complex, yet it manages to deliver great depth and it’s just a joy to experiment with. When it comes to controls, I think it’s much better to play this title with a controller. That being said, even keyboard controls are fine, although the layout takes some getting used to. Games like Dragon is Dead don’t come by that often. This combination of platformers and roguelikes, with Diablo-like looting and inventory is rare, but it works extremely well. Granted, the game has its shortcomings, yet that didn’t deter me from trying out multiple runs, experimenting with loot and creating a very powerful build. It’s up there when it comes to great roguelikes, although it will need a tad more polishing and better music.- Softpedia

Overall, I had a great time with KIBORG. It has good melee combat, along with parries, dodges and intense shooting. It’s also not very expensive, which makes it even easier for me to recommend it. And yes, it has a lot of replay value, thanks to its roguelite approach. I think it does a lot of things right, and while it won’t win any awards, it’s definitely one of those titles that you come back to over and over for one more run.- Softpedia

I am impressed with the things Islands & Trains manages to achieve, despite being a small game. You have multiple biomes, lots of building tools, a cozy environment and a wonderful railroad-building experience. Yes, it won’t surpass Train Valley or any other train management titles. But it doesn’t even try to do that. Instead, it blends railroad building with a cozy sandbox experience. It’s fun, beautiful in its own right, and with a good soundtrack. There’s no stress, no anxiety, just a cozy place where you can unwind and have a great time. I’ve spent quite a bit of time creating my own railroads over 3 different maps, and I am still coming back to it. Plus, it seems the game will continue getting more updates, and I am keeping my hopes up for a map sharing feature. But despite that, I think it’s one of the better cozy sandbox games, and one that can help cheer you up, while also letting your creativity run loose.- Softpedia

Ultimately, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is both a departure and a return — a bold experiment that trades narrative depth for gameplay complexity. For those expecting a traditional sequel, the shift may be jarring. But if you're open to something different — something tougher, more replayable, and mechanically rich — this spin-off delivers. It’s not perfect, and at times the roguelite grind can wear thin, but it’s crafted with heart, style, and no small amount of ambition. Whether this is a one-off experiment or a sign of where the series is headed next remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure — Random’s dice are still rolling, and wherever they land, there’s magic in the chaos.- Softpedia

Projected Dreams is a good puzzle game with a unique take on the genre. The shadow work starts off pretty easy, but the developers find ways to add variety and increase the challenge level. The rooms where shadows are projected are also fun to interact with, especially when hunting for a new cassette to play. The story and graphics are pleasant enough but don’t stand out. The shadow puzzles are the main reason to engage with Projected Dreams, especially for players who are interested in looking for multiple solutions for each album photo. The entire experience is even more interesting when playing with a kid who hasn’t yet had the experience of shadow play in the real world.- Softpedia
