Tennis World Tour 2 is a great example of how not to make a tennis game. Virtua Tennis on a Dreamcast VMU gives a more satisfying experience. It fails wholesale to learn the lessons of the game it's a sequel to and isn't much fun to play. At least there's no microtransactions.

Despite what many would say, Fallout 76 could have worked on paper. What could have been a brilliant coop adventure in the Fallout world however, has turned into a wasteland of poorly executed ideas and flat, dated mechanics. Ironically, despite the a multiplayer focus, the wastelands of Fallout has never felt as barren or lonely as this.

The whole idea of playing as a blind person could be interesting but navigating the house just feels frustrating given that you’ll spend a vast portion of your time looking at a silent black screen. With a weak story and unsuccessful horror elements Perception is probably best left in the dark.

Submersed ultimately makes some key decisions which will frustrate. Enemies are relentless and inventory management feels botched, leading to you require prior knowledge to advance. Stealth is functional but, more often than not, you're tasked with running from foes that are simply quicker and deadlier than you. There's a punishment on offer here that doesn't fit the crime and, whilst the game tries to do well with a small budget, it can't execute on much of it.

On paper, the battle engine should provide an interesting scrap with a varied, albeit small, roster of characters. Unfortunately, the AI feels brutal to fight and the lack of a manual means you're fumbling in the dark until you figure out what works. It's needlessly uninviting with the slim choice of modes and the lack of an online community meaning this game really underwhelms.

I Want To Be Human has a cocky swagger about it which screams of rebellion and teenage angst. Whilst it has a striking visual style the gameplay suffers for this. It is also dogged by poor controls and a reliance on frustratingly difficult platforming sections which means this is a hard game to recommend, even at the low price point.

There's a bright and cheery look to Roarr! Jurassic Edition but beyond the surface, it's a little flat. Your moveset doesn't provide a lot of depth and there's not much to look forward to beyond score chasing. Co-op with friends certainly does liven the mood but technical issues like inputs dropping brought more frustration. For all the good the presentation does, the action itself feels a little stale.

Timber Tennis Versus suffers greatly from a bare-bones approach to the sport. The ultra simplified controls and lack of content left me bored fairly quickly. There's a nice rhythm to the rallies but your lack of any real influence means you're hoping for a power-up to finish the job for you. Whilst there's balls and heroes to work towards, they offer only cosmetic changes to a game that badly needs some variety to its gameplay. It's a weak, short-lived experience.

At a short runtime, Dawn of Fear feels like a shell of something far grander. Every good aspect feels somewhat cut short in a rush that seems to hamstring any chance of expansion. Subaeria is a novel take on the rogue-lite genre. Trying to make enemies kill each other by outsmarting them can be fun and there is plenty to unlock. It’s hard to reason why All-Star Fruit Racing is a game that exists, let alone a game that exists on the PlayStation 4. South Park: Snow Day is a slight effort that feels somewhat underdeveloped. The combat has a chaotic feel to it without any real nuance or precision. The few missions that are here follow a familiar path and it misses some much needed variety. The random card drawing can deliver some variables but not enough for encounters to feel different. Featuring a non-committal narrative, poorly paced difficulty, and a general lack of polish in both single and multiplayer modes. Content is all too slight and, whilst it's a game that feels best suited when you have a couple of minutes to spare, I'd seen it all in ten minutes more. Zenith isn’t that good and that’s a real shame because on the face of it, things looked promising. The trouble is that the comedy falls flat at every turn and the role-playing elements are so light they’re practically non-existant. Had the developers focused more on gameplay and less on jokes, we might be onto something. Comedy isn’t easy in games and Zenith is exhibit A in the case of how to bad things can get. All is not lost though. The developers have created a functional product and after some more QA testing could have had a fairly average game. I do hope this is a stepping stone onto greater things for them. Don’t believe the reviews giving it zeroes and ones but certainly don’t be fooled into thinking this is anything special either.

Couple this with bland art style and some examples of badly translated text and you have a game which is best ignored.

Syberia 3 is a mess of a game with appalling performance issues, terrible graphics and a lacklustre story. Whilst a weak story and poor graphics could be excused, particularly given the clever puzzles, the terrible performance issues all but ruin this game. I couldn’t even recommend this for fans of the first two games as it will just tarnish your memory, you’d be better off just reading a summary of the plot.

Fast and Furious Arcade Edition is a vacuous void of a game that while it might work well in an arcade environment, but is so sadly lacking in this home port. The AI rubberbanding is among the worst we’ve ever seen in our memory, if not ever, to the extent that no matter how well you drive, the opposition will be on you regardless. Don’t waste your time and money buying and playing this, instead pick up Burnout Paradise on the PSN store as you’ll get more from that for less money. Avoid this at all costs.

Stickman's Arena takes all of its inspiration from Brotato but fails to get close to its greatness in any facet.

Road Rage is a lemon. Execution is poor at almost every step with only the bike handling coming out with any positives. Even for the budget price tag, I can't recommend this faltering, frustrating ride.

Loot Hero DX has some lovely visuals but has next to no gameplay. Trophy chasers will lap this up but, even at the cheap asking price, there's no substance here at all. You're buying a pretty Platinum and nothing else. But if they use this engine for a real game, we'll be well up for trying it.

Eastasiasoft's Bomb Jack clone gets a sequel which doesn't really improve anything but does take the previously trivial difficulty level a little too far in the opposite direction. We're not really sure who this one is for because it certainly doesn't land for the Bomb Jack obsessives here.

Way Down is a truly poor effort that reduces an exciting bank heist into a series of mini games. Visually, it has a very cheap look with very little polish. It's very rough around the edges and sometimes those edges fall away. The multiple protagonists do try to keep things fresh but the final act devolves into a repetitive slog. In safer hands, a game could've brought life to an interesting caper. As it is, Way Down is dreadfully executed.

Game sequels are generally refinements of a formula. Foxyland 2 isn’t, it’s worse. It’s Alien Covenant to the first game’s Prometheus. Almost everything about it is a retrograde step. Avoid.

Part driving game, part menial labour simulator, Mudrunners may well be the least fun we've had on our PS4. This isn't a game that sends the mud flying everywhere, it's one where the mud bogs you down until you feel like you are drowning in it. However, if you're looking for a challenging trucking simulator that is genuinely different, this may be well up your street. Do your research before you buy though.

Skatemasta Tcheco looks, plays and feels like the sort of game that NES magazines would have given very average scores to back in the '80s, so in 2020 this kind of throwaway nonsense really doesn't make any sense at the end of the PS4's lifespan.

Balancelot is a great pun but doesn't amount to much otherwise. Sure it's an easy enough platinum but it's very little fun to play due to the controls being a mess on PS4. Switch off your TV set and do something less boring instead.

While we really appreciate the idea of taking an RPG and trimming off all the fat, in doing so Heroes Trials has also accidentally taken out all of the choice cuts too and has left you with the skeleton of a very generic game with nothing in there to make it worth your time or money. One for platinum hunters only.

Whilst I was hoping Arsonist Heaven to turn a corner, the limiting experience ultimately left me frustrated. Whilst I could eventually memorise and beat the standard stages, boss fights became more of a dice roll coupled with tests of execution that I simply wasn't up for. Initially, your movement seems capable enough but it soon becomes apparent how few your options are in combat. With a few tweaks, this could've been something serviceable. As it is, I can't say many good things about it. This feels rigid and lacking in ideas.
