Despite all their efforts, Streum On Studio weren’t able to deliver anything else but a repetitive shooter that change Warhammer into something pretty monotonous. The fans may enjoy it, but the others should pass on it.

Space Hulk: Deathwing delivers a solid, challenging campaign with all the elements and the atmosphere of the Warhammer 40,000 franchise. The Enhanced Edition, however, comes short on PlayStation 4 in terms of actual enhancements and polish.

If you're looking for a science fiction FPS that'll feed your hunger until the heavyweights arrive, give it a go. Despite its flaws there's still fun to be had.

A decent and atmospheric tactical shooter which finds itself marred by a raft of technical issues, Space Hulk: Deathwing isn't the high caliber Warhammer 40K FPS we thought it would be.

So is Space Hulk: Deathwing Enhanced Edition worth your time? Well, no. Not really. It isn’t awful, but it isn’t exactly great either. If you’re mad for Warhammer 40,000 and the lore surrounding the franchise then perhaps you’ll get more out of Space Hulk than I did. However, if you’re looking to freshen up your first-person shooter collection then feel free to skip this one.

Space Hulk: Deathwing Enhanced Edition has a few enjoyable moments, especially in multiplayer, but, despite a few graphical improvements, and some technical fixes, it does very little to improve on 2016’s original. The game is simply a old, boring and downright lacklustre first-person experience.

Perhaps, someday, the WH40K universe will offer experiences as compelling as its fantasy brethren. Until that time, players looking to scratch the WH40K itch would do better by dusting off a last-generation console or firing up Steam and buying Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. It’s a pretty charming third-person action game that, while a little long in the tooth now, satisfies the urge to mow down bad guys by the thousands in a much less frustrating format.

One thing with giant Armour is that your slow and OP meaning alot of the confronations are head on assaults and theres not much room for tactics or manuverability.. I am personally fine with how the game plays.. Never once did I get bored with rain lead through the hordes.

It feels great to play and looks like one of the finest recreations of the Warhammer 40,000 universe I have ever seen. The Emperor Protects but a suit of Terminator Armour does a hell of a job too! They were just norm people, who for whatever reason, thought it was important for a non fan of that world to write a review. If you're disinterested in that world, or have never heard of it, to stands to reason you'll get a lot less from this game than a fan. And that's fine.

That said, (and no offense meant to the kids at the bottom of this column, but) calling this "the worst game ever made" is juvenile and stupid. It's decent. It's basically a REALLY cool looking wave murder game set in an equally cool, if slightly over the top, dark sci-fi universe. Not the best of it's kind in that genre, but def one of the better WH40k fps shooting games.

The second thing you'll notice is that the truly slavering fans of this world absolutely love this game. Because it offers a window into that world that, really, no other game offers.

So the question is, why are YOU here?

I'm not a huge fan of any warhammer, there's something vaguely socially weird about the whole "exterminate the filth" thing, but i love the aesthetic and my primary memory of this game is that i liked it until i got bored with it. The sound and music was a little...bleh in places, but i wasn't playing in headphones and i don't have a big bass sound setup, so maybe that'd help.

I will say that i saw a very insightful review of this game that managed to tie basically all it's major (non-technical) faults back to the board game it's emulating. Basically, the conclusion was that it would be a better game if it was a worse Spacehulk game. And, having heard that, i now totally agree and i can't really see it any other way anymore. If you're familiar with the board game, or the video-board game it's based on, you'll notice it too. Especially around the doors and other functional elements that seem....a little over wrought or just unnecessarily involved and/or simple. It's a bunch of little things and i wouldn't bother listing them even if i could remember it all. You'll see. It's nothing huge or game breaking. Just...stuff.

But for a day or three of cool looking alien killing, on sale or in a bundle, omg, my dudes...you could hella do worse. But if you want a spacehulk based deathtastic alien megamurder game? You can't really do better. But what can i say? It's small market.

But that doesn't make this game any less cool, IF that's what you're looking for.

The selling point for me was the studio who made it. They have SO much potential and i want them to succeed, and i'll buy everything they make until they have enough money to make a AAA E.Y.E 2 (or even a polished remake. Hell of daring game, for it's time). And why not. They're awesome. They have something new coming out soon, too, and I can't wait.

From the people who gave me the fun E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy which was a very rough diamond to say the least.

I have only have a passing interest in WH40K, but the WH40K computer games I have played I have generally enjoyed. A mixed bag of turn based, RTS and live action shooters. It doesn't matter about the cool detail and stuff in this game, because what is the point if it runs like total crap. On the legacy PS4 the performance is absolutely crap. I doubt this even reaches the console bog standard 30 FPS.

The SP campaign kind of sucks being stuck with two dumb A.I. space marines. I can't see myself playing this co-op due to the poor frame rate drops, but this looks like this would work better with human players. I wasn't bored with the repetitive horde waves. I can do arena horde type shooters no problem. Wanted to like this and probably would of if the performance wasn't so bad and sucked so much. Oh and I do have the enhanced edition you know the fixed version.
