The original The Last of Us will always be my favourite PlayStation game. The narrative is amazing, the relationship between Joel and Ellie is wholesome and it all culminates into a satisfying story that will bring tears to your eyes. However, I do not recommend the remake. Even though there are extensive graphical enhancements, 60FPS support, DualSense support and a variety of accessibility options, none of this justifies the admission price. And, above all, there was really no need for this remake, the original is perfect as it is and available on PS Plus. Skip it and wait for a fat discount if you are keen to try it.- PLAY! Zine

As someone who has never played Persona 3, I tried to make myself a believer but never managed to do so. The Persona system is great fun, the theme is not for my taste, and the school segments are beyond boring, at least for me, and I am probably in the minority. Apart from the price, this game will scratch that Persona itch and let you relive your childhood with gorgeous graphics and quality-of-life improvements, but it did not make me fall in love with the series.- PLAY! Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a great title hindered by the corporate sickness of releasing unpolished games. It is riddled with performance issues, even on consoles and the strongest of PCs. Despite all of these problems, Survivor is still a masterpiece. It is truly one of the best Star Wars games out there, but given its current state, it would be a good idea to wait until the most glaring issues are solved.- PLAY! Zine

DOOM: The Dark Ages is a safe and simple downgrade of the Doom franchise. As Eternal makes you think about your every choice and move, feeling like a fighter jet, The Dark Ages wants you to feel like a tank, made of Styrofoam. While the parry mechanics are extremely important and play a big role in the game, the gunplay is easily overshadowed. Music is tame, repetitive and is not memorable in the slightest. Mick Gordon is surely missing. With the asking price of 80 euros, I would stay away as far as possible from this game or at least play it on Game Pass.- PLAY! Zine

At first glance, the new instalment in the Atelier series continues the trend of its predecessors but actually provides an upgraded and refined experience. It is no secret that The Veilguard is a very controversial game. It’s a fun action RPG that will provide you with lots of hours of entertainment, especially if you are into exploring more of the remarkable Thedas lore. Burnout Paradise Remastered is the remastered version of a legendary arcade racing game. Visually, the remaster itself doesn't give you the feeling that you're playing a modern racing game, the game is polished, but it still feels outdated. Fuser is a toy that wants to be a video game. The controls are not intuitive, the vision is limited, and the campaign is cringy to the core. The Midnight Walk is a visually striking adventure with a unique stop-motion aesthetic and excellent sound design, yet it struggles to fully deliver on its narrative ambitions. It brims with creative potential, but ultimately feels like a missed opportunity—whimsical, yet clumsily told and mechanically shallow. Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader was, besides Baldur’s Gate 3, my most anticipated game of 2023. Owlcat did an amazing job on Wrath of the Righteous and I expected that they would nail the Rogue Trader fantasy. Unfortunately, a lot of changes, bugs and a severe lack of voice acting completely ejects me from the immersion that is necessary for any 40k game. This year, FIFA brings most of its changes in the shape of a new name for the franchise. In other aspects, it’s mostly the same old game with some additional flavors sprinkled around, unless you are really excited about the new mixed teams.- PLAY! Zine

CoD MW 2 is a refreshing single-player experience, providing players with some of the best action-packed moments and great characters, but riddled with multiplayer balancing issues and extreme performance and technical problems. It still is CoD and is fun for anyone who finds its casual shooting gameplay compelling, but it plays safely and doesn’t present itself as something revolutionary for the franchise.- PLAY! Zine

Shallow story aside, Shadow of the Tomb Raider has the best tomb exploration in the series, and that’s what it’s all about.- PLAY! Zine

Good game. But only that. Not for everyone, especially not for children and minors. Too much text will turn off some players. But excitement for every new case and hope that you will behead Robespierre will be enough to keep you until the end.- PLAY! Zine

Endless Dungeon is a successor to the great Dungeon of the Endless, but it flops on so many levels. The idea is there, but the gameplay is very repetitive and gets stale very quickly into the game. The rogue-lite elements help, but the sudden difficulty spikes did not encourage me to continue playing. The singleplayer mode offers an abysmal experience, but there is fun to be found in a multiplayer session with your friends.- PLAY! Zine

The cult classic that hasn't aged a day is incredibly fun to play even after all these years. Too bad that the developers didn't use this chance to polish the AI routine or give some units a redesign, making it hard to recommend the Redux edition to owners of the original game.- PLAY! Zine

The third venture into the episodic Hitman might not be as good as his second adventure, but Marrakesh still offers amazing digital playground that will surely put your assassin skills to the test.- PLAY! Zine

Four years have passed since the last GT game in the franchise, and although this game stayed true to its roots and remains a true driving simulation, choices like reducing number of available vehicles, missing any kind of single player campaign (other than driving schools) and a lack of weather effect control in this day and age may have set this game to a bad start against its main competitors.- PLAY! In order to enjoy this game to the fullest, you’d have to be a teenager, still trying to find yourself while having a clear political view. Sounds terribly specific? No sweat. Loving adventures and rogue lite games should also prove useful when it comes to liking Road 96. It’s a good game, just not for everyone.- PLAY! Zine

Ocean’s Heart is undoubtedly inspired by titles such as The Legend of Zelda’s The Minish Cap. Yet what it successfully re-establishes in terms of visuals and basic mechanics, it painfully lacks when it comes to the story, dialogues and gameplay depth. If you are looking to scratch that Zelda itch with nothing better on the horizon, Ocean’s Heart might prove to be a perfect candidate. But surely never forget – heart may sound like a lot but is never much without a soul.- PLAY! Zine

The Warriors series has proven quite some times that you can teach an old dog some new tricks. This time relying on quality opposed to the well known quantity, Samurai Warriors 5 remains a fun title of a franchise that is somehow too old to be this entertaining - yet it is.- PLAY! Zine

Beyond a Steel Sky is a typical modern adventure game with old-school logic puzzles mixed into it. With great writing from some of the great names from the comic-book and video game industry, it is riddled with linearity, lack of player choice, and irritating puzzle design in the later parts of the game. Still, it poses a fun experience for all fans of the genre, and due to its great world design, it is a true cyberpunk experience.- PLAY! Zine

The Stretchers may stretch that smile over your face, with its funny ragdoll physics and clumsy multiplayer moments. It may be short and lacks replay value, but for the while it lasts, it is sure to bring a bit of hilarious sunshine to that rainy day, we all get to live sometimes.- PLAY! Zine

Simply put, CRYMACHINA is the definition of a niche JRPG title that will either win you over with its writing and characters, or infuriate you with its combat sequences. Aside from that, this is another visual novel in disguise.- PLAY! Zine

This is a quick, fun and chaotic indie title that has the feel of good old retro games. But its random core gameplay loop makes it rather frustrating at times if you end up drawing the short end of the stick. All in all its a fun bite-size package for summer or just as a quick drop in drop out game.- PLAY! Zine

Phoenix Point should be the spiritual successor to the XCOM games, but it only presents itself with some big staggering issues on top of its innovative and fun gameplay ideas. In the current state, it is so poorly balanced and riddled with bugs, its hard to recommend it, while only hope remains that the developers will fix some of these problems in future patches.- PLAY!
