What perfect videogame comfort food for at least, say, another 205 days.

Even if we ignore the ridiculous quantity of content, and we focus only on the main storyline, we still get an amazing experience. Far Cry 5 is not the game we expected, but it’s exactly what we should have wanted in the first place.

Far Cry 5 is mechanically sound and varied. You’ll find something that entertains you, and Ubisoft has nailed all of the underlying elements of character and world progression. At the same time, it squanders some decent writing because it can’t decide what kind of game it is.
  4. Far Cry 5 is looking really unique. The world, the cult, and the gameplay are solid and fun.

The wonderful chaos of the open world and your choice of how to tackle it is occasionally stifled by bad boss fights and worse boss speeches.

All in all, the duo multiplayer experience of Far Cry 5 is fantastic. The aesthetics alone manage to overshadow the frustrating mechanics that the game brings to bear and keep us wanting to play...If you’re looking for a fun, engaging, exciting game to play with a partner, this is definitely one to try out. Let’s hope that the games industry creates more partner play experiences for those who love to game together, but not necessarily in huge piles.

The ambitious setting doesn't pay off in this story that seems to want to hedge every chance it gets. The end result is a story that goes nowhere, says nothing, and fails to live up to the previous settings and villains in the franchise. If you can get past that... the rest is pretty much fine if you're up for another Far Cry game.

I think the people complaining either A) haven't given it enough of a chance B) just hate Ubisoft no matter what or C) Aren't FC fans inI think the people complaining either A) haven't given it enough of a chance B) just hate Ubisoft no matter what or C) Aren't FC fans in general... I have been into gaming my whole life (I'm 36 now) and I am pretty honest when it comes to game reviews but in this case I have no idea where the bad reviews are coming from.

I agree with the critic that said this was Ubisoft's best game ever. It's DEFINITELY the best out of the FC series. It's like if you took everything good about Far Cry and shook it up with a bit of GTA5. I mean GTA5 is incredible and epic (almost flawless?) and pretty much in a class of its own but I see nods in this game for sure. No game has torn me away from PUBG since it was in early pre-release and this one did it! It was obvious that Ubisoft took consumer feedback into consideration in every step of this game. No more climbing towers!

DUNIA looks amazing and barely uses any space with such a huge game, the graphics are on point, it's clearly been optimized for both the red and green team. I mean from day 1 I haven't experienced any glitches or crashes... That might even be a first with Ubisoft?

The only downside is yes, the plot falls flat a bit at times but some of the script writing and voice acting is just over the rails hilarious (in a good way). The game has me saying WTF an awful lot! The progression system is good - you play for weapon unlocks, perk rewards and cash. Cash can buy you weapons, vehicles, and other miscellaneous (like fly fishing rods!) items early if you bank enough. There are micro-transactions but they are kinda in the background and totally not necessary to use which is how it should be. There are lots of attachments for the vast array of weapons. Overall I am really impressed!!

Maybe the best Far Cry came to date. Huge world to explore and tons of game play for your money which is more than you can say for a lot of other AAA titles. Yea they have micro transactions but they really do not effect the single player mode. People complain to much these days. Not every game is gonna be a Fallout New Vegas or Final Fantasy Vii but does not mean its crap with no value. Its a lot of mindless shooting which has its value but also a good story and interesting characters. Expand

I really wish I could give this game a better score, honestly. I've been a fan of the series since the original. Tedious cut scenes (yes youI really wish I could give this game a better score, honestly. I've been a fan of the series since the original. Tedious cut scenes (yes you can skip them but then you don't know what's happening) and enemies constantly, ludicrously, spawning practically right into my back pocket really steal all of the enjoyment I would otherwise get from the quests. Literally every quest, at some point, I find myself spinning around in a panic trying to figure out who is shooting me and invariably it's an NPC standing about 4 microns away right behind me. After the magic NPC has murdered me I get to start over, and likely have the same thing happen. Past FC games have made the challenges rewarding, and I've enjoyed that - but something about this experience just makes me rage quit after an hour long session, rather than buckle down and try harder. Both the exploratory play and the quests are made a lot less fun by the constant disappearing of ... everything. Want to go back to that vehicle you had to park in order to deal with half a dozen enemy trucks that magically appeared directly behind you? Too bad, it's probably gone. Want to loot all the enemy bodies after helping defend an outpost? Too bad, they're definitely all gone. Want to skin that animal you just shot? Good luck finding the carcass before it despawns. I'll probably finish playing all the way through, just because I'm a stubborn jerk and want to get my $15 worth. I can't see myself spending any extra time after the main story is done, in exploratory game play, like I have for countless hours with previous FC games. It's such a heart breaker because this game had so much potential. I really like the mechanics and the realtime visuals, and the environment is gorgeous - those are all areas where this game improves upon previous games, in my opinion. Unfortunately, at least for me, they amount to precious little saving grace (pun fully intended) in the face of the routine and fundamental frustrations. I know I know... "get gud". No thanks, I'd rather drag my sack across the pavement. I'd be real ticked off if I had paid full price for this game, but for $15 it's fine I guess. Expand
