Shadow Warrior 3 delivers a frantic and spectacular but rather linear experience, which can be beaten quite quickly and doesn't feel special. Those who hoped for an evolution of the mechanics seen in Shadow Warrior 2 will be disappointed, while fans of traditional shooters could appreciate the new adventure of Lo Wang even in its absolute harmlessness.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet focus on exploring, but the technical issues are hard to ignore. The story struggles to expand its limits, so it's weak and shallow; the gameplay is solid as ever, luckily, and it introduces some new mechanics perfect for PvP. Discovering and capturing pokémon is enjoyable thanks to many new ways to explore the region of Paldea. We hope they will be the last transitional pokémon games.

Tomodachi Life is not really a life simulator. If you were expecting a sort of Animal Crossing with Miis, you are going for a huge disappointment. Dead Island is an interesting hybrid with elements of FPS and RPG with a survival horror mood that draws inspiration from many other games, but it succeeds in creating something new. With its gigantic island freely explorable, tons of quests and permanent sense of fear it's more an open world RPG than an action game and it certainly has some flaws. But it's quite unique and a very good cooperative experience for 4 players.

Life Is Strange Reunion is a high-quality title, but it is also too conservative and shows how the series' formula has been used to the point of exhaustion. Life Is Strange itself will certainly have a future, but it is now necessary to rethink its mechanics even before introducing new characters. Time has been rewound far too many times; now it must be allowed to flow. Only then can Max and Chloe be truly remembered with affection. Otherwise, by constantly being reminded that life is strange, even strangeness risks becoming normality.

While, on one hand, the decision to focus on a more relaxed and open-minded setting transformed the game into a splendid bike ride simulator, punctuated by races, on the other, we felt that narrative and progression were pushed to the sidelines. The story remains a fun, background story, and the system for obtaining new bike parts gradually becomes less central due to a lower-level challenge and some components that, once obtained, make our ride nearly unbeatable. Super Meat Boy 3D is a successful exercise in reinterpreting the series, transporting the protagonists of this historic 2D saga into a world of major aesthetic and conceptual changes. The former are easy to get used to; the latter require a bit more effort, even if it’s both pleasant and surprising to rediscover the responsiveness and speed of the original game. What truly changes, however, is the mindset with which you approach each level, which now benefits from an unprecedented sense of depth and scale, and requires the player—not only to rely on their usual exceptional reflexes and precision—but also to be able to read the path ahead. Perhaps it is precisely this lack of clarity that stands as the game’s biggest flaw, in what remains a very enjoyable experience (especially if you’re a bit of a masochist) and one that is packed with ideas that never run dry. In fact, quite surprisingly, they increase in the second and final stretch. Is this the new “skin” of the Meat Boy saga? I don’t think so, but it is certainly a successful diversion.
