The Great Ace Attorney is a must for fans of the series. The challenge was twofold. On the one hand, to build two video games (ten cases in total) with a completely new cast of characters. On the other hand, to justify a historical context when telling a story based on dialectical battles in the courts in the middle of the nineteenth century. And it has succeeded. With a fantastically written story, it presents irregularities in their rhythm and an excess of lines of text at certain moments, though. Both games feel current, fresh and give meaning to their existence as canonical content. They are high-level visual novels, with Shu Takumi showing his best narrative skills at times. That it does not come in Spanish is a pity; therefore, if the language barrier is not a problem for you, you have here a long journey difficult to forget.- Meristation

Less than two years since the last Lovecraft based game, the Nintendo Switch port of Call of Cthulhu, we have a new game based on the vast and influential works of the inmortal author. This Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace really embraces its board game origins, creating a mixture of exploration, puzle-solving, clue-gathering and turn-time combats. The story is good, but not too deep, and the mechanics and visuals show good ideas, fun ideas, but also a not enough budget to put’em all the right way. Another hit ’n miss Lovecraft game, but with a good atmosphere and pretty fun somehow.- Meristation

The Magnifficent Trufflepigs falls short of the mark in its proposal, whose playable base is based on detecting metals that give rise to an excellently interpreted and remarkably written conversation. Its rhythm, a great advantage, stimulates you to keep going until the end, but its mechanics are far from what has been achieved by other walking simulators. In addition, its story has left us wanting more; more depth and depth. We recommend it only for fans of the genre with an emphasis on narrative.- Meristation

Chicory achieves exactly what it intends: to absorb you into its universe and dazzle you with its structure. A brush as a magic wand capable of painting, solving puzzles and answering many of the questions it asks you. Excellently localized and with an unforgettable soundtrack, its only problem is the control with the controller, which is not as comfortable as it should; it is more accurate with a mouse on PC. Finji has once again succeeded in turning simplicity into an advantage. Its puzzles are intelligent, there is always a surprise waiting for you in its beautiful story. One of the indie surprises of 2021.- Meristation

Like a blast from the past, Ryu Hayabusha and the Ninja Gaiden trilogy appears like a storm in this Souls era. Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection looks very good, but not so great as it could've been. And the choice / not choice of remaster the Sygma versions is not what we wanted -It'd be great to have the option between playing the originals from Xbox and the Sygma versions. But nonetheless, we have pure ninja slice-and-dice action, so intense and hard that it puts your skills to the test. Oldie but true goodie indeed!- Meristation

Miitopia is back on Nintendo Switch. New Mii customisation options, a steed and an adventure that relies on giving prominence to the characters... but not so much to the story. The work adjusts itself to the player's tastes, with plenty of options to configure trades, skills, behaviours, synergies... Despite its repetitiveness, it's a refined blend of the classic turn-based JRPG experience with Tomodachi Life, but this time adding quality of life details that result in an improved version over the Nintendo 3DS work. It's not a lazy port. The irreverence of its writing, the unexpected situations each character can come up with, and its ease of minigames make it a perfectly enjoyable title for all audiences; especially newcomers to the genre.- Meristation

Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and The Girl Who Stands Behind are two very important works for the visual novel genre in general and for Nintendo in particular. We want more daring exercises like these, because the extravagance and sophistication of its proposal help us to interpret the current context. Know our past to understand the present and glimpse the future. Probably not the best visual novels on the market, but they are two methodological examples whose story now boasts a merit that is difficult to calculate. Something very difficult was achieved with so little: creating an atmosphere of mystery surrounded by two gripping stories, well-written characters and a suspense that is not resolved until the very end. The shadow of the detective club is very long.- Meristation

Before I Forget wants to put you in the shoes of a woman with early dementia, it wants you to live their day-to-day life. And invites you to learn through contact with the objects around you what they are looking for. It succeeds. Sunita, the protagonist, had a life she now longs for. She loved, enjoyed and immortalised moments through images. These moments are the narrative channel to tell her story. The game lasts only one hour, enough to convey a valuable message.- Meristation

New Pokémon Snap meets the demands of the fans, abandoning the idea of a "short videogame" and presents a Lensis region full of content, both in terms of Pokémon and routes. Its mechanical depth is limited, advancing very little from the Nintendo 64 entry, although it makes up for this lack of gameplay ambition with an audiovisual delight where everything you see around you is alive and reactive. Bandai Namco has understood that nowadays there is little point in keeping your experiences to yourself, that your album needs to be retouched and shared. This title is meant to celebrate the Pokémon universe in its natural environment, for you to show it off and discover its many secrets.- Meristation

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit has aged wonderfully. Ten years have not been enough for this work to begin to show some seams, because both in the playable side and in the design structure of its challenges it is still intact. The remastering work is minimal, only technical, and we miss a greater effort to improve some textures, the fluidity of the images or the models, which do not stand out excessively. Luckily, on the playable level it is still excellent in almost all its sections, the Autolog is a sensational idea and there are always reasons to return: wasted content. The Falconeer tries to fly so high from very early, but as the hours go by, its structure ends up holding back any hint of excellence and it is reduced to simplicity, which is a shame considering how interesting its planning is. Grindstone is a brilliant composition of all the elements that should turn a mobile puzzle game into a great video game, in general, capable of captivating all types of audiences. First, by how it comes off the most stifling and uncomfortable practices with the player; second, because its translation to consoles has materialized satisfactorily. Either with touch control or through buttons, Capybara Games rewards risk, adds challenge as we progress and gives personality to each situation, each enemy and each boss. With a good & really fun to play combat system, and some lusty, shiny New Gen visuals, Godfall is a game that shines in its first few hours. But then you begin to notice its flaws, and everything is pretty much the same, one mission after another in a story that it’s just a few lines on a paper. There’s a lot of content in the Loot & Equipment department, things to farming, astonishing armours to build, but few Final Bosses, few types of weapons and poor missions design -except those that mimic the Monster Hunter type and the great 3 players Coop, the best of all indeed. It’s a hit-and-miss of a game, but if you like to fight & loot & fight & loot, it can really hook on you.- Meristation

We are Sex Bob-Omb! Even without new features, the wait was worth it. A must have for fans of Scott Pilgrim and one of the best video game adaptations of all time.- Meristation

Don't trust review bombers. Super Meat Boy Forever is a great platform game, maybe the best auto-runner of all time and a very good sequel. And we are here to tell you why.- Meristation
